Okay so I want to write my thoughts out.

This family was Twilight’s scheme. Well, Anya really got it together, but it was his plan. Anya knows the whole truth, but Yor is under the assumption that the only lie in the Forger family is their marriage. She believes Anya is really Loid’s kid and he’s just an average guy. Yor gets to realize her emotions first because she has always been able to recognize people’s hidden emotions. She always tells Loid that Anya adores him and that he’s doing a great job, always helps him realize things he didn’t even notice himself. She’s always encouraging Anya, being that mother figure, even when she doubts herself. Despite the lies, what Yor feels about her family is real.

Twilight is not allowing himself that same grace. This family is his construction, so therefore he needs to keep them at arm’s length so he doesn’t get attached. He is capable of those feelings, but his trauma and mission are all he knew up until the last 6 months. Every time he experiences an emotion that expresses the slightest bit of affection for his family, he sees it as a weakness. And can you blame him? He has so many enemies and he can’t trust anyone. Besides, loving his family for real will make it harder to let them go in the end. Remember, this is a long mission, but it is supposed to come to an expected end.

Anya has her age and innocence and is able to verbalize her feelings for her family much easier than her parents. Though the words “love” rarely appears between the three of them, it is clear that Anya likes her family and their dynamic. But she understands why Twilight adopted her and knows that she plays a role in his mission. She knows that it’ll come to an end some day, that’s why she could confide in Damian her secret, and not her parents. She feels they can send her away at any time and them knowing she’s psychic might accelerate that process. I’ve always wondered if Twilight not “loving” her ever bothers her, but she’s like 5. It just seems a little depressing that she is so fond of her father but he isn’t quite there yet. And maybe Anya does understand that, but she doesn’t quite mind.

All in all, yes Twilight/Loid is so dense but that’s only cause we have all the details. There’s no way he would be bringing down his walls yet, especially since he already thought Yor liked him and she shut that down. So he already has it in his mind that he and Yor see each other in the same way, a means to an end. But Yor is starting to see it differently. It’ll be a long while until Twilight catches up to that.

theres a small part of me that thinks the reason Chilchuck stayed with the party and went back in the dungeon in the first place was because he didn’t want to leave Laios alone. That Laios was moreso the reason he stayed.

severance s2 finale spoilers but the ending scene is making me crazy from an innie mark outie gemma perspective. mark probably thinks gemma already knows he’s severed and wants him to choose her anyways & gemma probably thinks the mark walking away from her is the one who was just kissing her. innie mark thinks she’s just another outie demanding his life for herself. gemma thinks her husband really did move on after all. i’m sick to my stomach oh my god.

Bruce Wayne dies, and like a prayer, Jason Todd returns to Gotham. Always too late.

He never followed his plans or became Red Hood, instead finishing his schooling and traveling for a while with Talia to stay in shape. He and Damian on and off text or call, but they both know the other is living the way they need to. They’ll always be there, but sometimes you need your own space to figure out what you really want.

When Dick takes up the mantle and Damian becomes Robin, Jason takes a posting at Gotham University and rents an apartment in the alley. Damian comes to visit and Jason tells him stories, as many as he can remember. The kid wanted to know his Dad, after all.

They don’t tell the others. Instead, grieving the loss of their Father together. When Jason came back to Gotham he expected anger. Now he just feels lost.

It’s completely on accident that Dick learns his identity. He gets a call one night from Damian, not panicked but alert. He’s calling for backup because Batman was shot.

Jason has the two of them in the back of a stolen car and makes it all the way past the security of the Batcave before he really comes to his senses. It’s a bit of a clusterfuck after that, between Alfred and Leslie trying to prioritize Dick while interrogating the imposter until they’re satisfied he’s just Jason. Their Jason.

And maybe it gets a little better. Jason has to go out as Batman until Dick’s back on his feet, so he and Damian patrol together and come home to Alfred and Dick. He goes to see Babs at the Clocktower and she introduces him to his sister, Cass, one of the few people Damian speaks highly of.

It’s different, and weird, and he and Dick have a couple of fights. But it could be worse. Slowly but surely, they figure things out. Try to move on.

And then Tim comes home and like a prayer, Bruce Wayne is alive again. Always too late.

Thinking about the inflatable Dareth autopilot thing again and like what if it becomes a tradition. Every time the bounty is destroyed and rebuilt or repaired after damage, they always make sure there’s a blow up Dareth for the autopilot. There is a stash of spare Dareths in the workshop under the monastery. In DR when Sora is making repairs to the bounty she tests the autopilot to make sure it’s in working order and she sees an inflatable doll with the likeness of Some Guy on it and she’s like what the fuck

i think he would try to take that shit to the grave — theirs or his. the one romantic relationship he is most readily exposed to throughout his life is fraught with abuse, despair, and unwillingness; the open romantic and sexual relationships his brothers participate in look a lot like subjugation; their secret ones, the ones that are genuine and sacred, are under constant threat of exposure; and we all know what happened to jesminda. not to mention being mated to him means becoming an external vulnerability, a heart beating outside of his chest, aching for a hand to reach out and crush it — and there are so many who would see him crippled in such a way. even beyond that, there’s the hostility a mate would experience amongst the autumn nobility. not while he was around, of course, but if they were ever left alone with all of the fae who wanted so desperately to ascend to power alongside the scion of autumn. so there’s obviously a lot of reasons he would keep it secret, all of them selfless, even if in the selfishness of the act.

Modern au

Dorian is a man who takes care of his woman. He LOVES doing all kinds of things for her because she deserves the world. This includes cooking. Dorian goes out of his way to find out what food Manon likes and he makes it for her because this is his love language (not the only one).

One times he took her grocery shopping with him because why not. And right there, in front of his own eyes he saw the love of his life reach for a frozen bag of chicken nuggets. Dorian stood there like 🧍🏻‘I make you all kinds of things and at the end i get defeated by The Chicken Nuggets ™️’ (jokingly ofc he won’t make her feel guilty at all honestly he’s just happy she’s actually eating but also lowkey being all ‘seriously???’ He CAN make chicken nuggets and he does make it at home but Manon’s lovely response was ‘these taste more proper because they actually taste like junk food’ like okay what a logic, you’re rejecting healthy chicken nuggets and going for the unhealthy ones.

Back at it again with another theory: What if Lucanis’ betrayal wasn’t a betrayal at all?

During The Wigmaker Job, we have some dialogue between Illario and Lucanis about their position within both the Crows and the Dellamorte family. Illario wants Caterina to step down so he can take the coveted First Talon spot. Lucanis reassures him that his time is coming, to which Illario makes a snide comment about whether his cousin would ever go against their grandmother’s wishes. When they continue the conversation after the job, Illario states that Lucanis is the potential heir, that he’s her favorite, and that he’s unlikely to say no to her. Lucanis doesn’t argue, only insists that he doesn’t want to be First Talon, and that he hopes she’ll see reason before that. It’s mentioned again in Eight Little Talons - Caterina favors Lucanis. It’s well-known enough among the Crows that Viago and Teia discuss it in front of her (not on purpose, but she doesn’t deny it). He’s her prodigy through and through.

In the opening scene for the Lucanis quest in Veilguard, Caterina is poised, as you’d expect of the First Talon. She’s certain that the body they buried wasn’t her grandson, that it had been altered with blood magic. She doesn’t pose it as a theory, though: she poses it as a fact. It could, of course, merely be her confidence, but there’s another very unusual aspect to the scene – everyone else discusses how Lucanis was clearly betrayed, that someone must have sold him out in order for the Venatori to capture him. Caterina is the only one in that room who never speaks on it. She doesn’t ask for justice, doesn’t mention vengeance, never acknowledges that her grandson was sold out by someone he trusted – perhaps because he wasn’t. 

What if, when Caterina comes to him with a plan, with an impossible request, he’s still her favorite prodigal grandchild, and he still does whatever she asks? She’s had him tortured before as a child, has tortured and starved and beaten him herself before, because it makes him stronger and more resistant to it in the future. He says in The Wigmaker Job that he used to hate her for it, but now he understands. He justifies it. All Crows justify it, because they have to - if they don’t, then the cruelty wasn’t for survival’s sake, and their suffering meant nothing. Perhaps he doesn’t even question it. When Caterina tells him that she has a job for him, he takes it. 

What if the contract has a caveat? Sure, Calivan must die by his hand by the end of it, a little treat for a job well done, but what if his primary mission is reconnaissance, is discovery? The Venatori are using blood magic to torture and corrupt prisoners. It would behoove the Crows to find out what it entails and how to resist it, before it’s turned back on them. It would have to be someone so deeply, unabashedly loyal to her that when she asked them to infiltrate a Venatori prison, expecting torture at best, their own death at worst, they’d take the job anyway, no questions asked - someone Caterina can trust, certainly, but also someone who has never once said no to her.

And Lucanis has always been a loyal grandson.
