Every time a F1 driver’s appendix gives up a new rip in the timeline is formed

I’ll explain:

The LAST appendicitis we saw in F1 was Alex Albon in Monza of 2022. Like Carlos, Alex ran FP1 & FP2 before confronting the tummy issues and finding out they were serious. When he was diagnosed and officially unable to race, Nick Devries was called up to drive for Williams for the weekend.

Nick has been waiting in the wings for years, putting in impressive drives in other series but never finding an open F1 seat. He drives incredibly well — qualifies 13th after only 1 free practice session, and manages to finish 9th in the race itself. These are the first points scored for Williams this season.

After the race, Nick had dinner with Max Verstappen, who tells him to give Helmut Marko a call.

That call turns into Nick being signed to then-Alpha Tauri (now VCARB) for the 2023 season.

But that sort of… does not go well. Midway into the season, Nick is dropped for Drive To Survive’s favorite boy, Daniel Ricciardo.

As far as things go, the timeline seems restored. Danny Ric goes from social media support for Red Bull to the beginning of his comeback arc…

Until he crashes into the wall and breaks his wrist.

ENTER: New Zealand’s Golden Retriever, Liam Lawson

Liam is INCREDIBLE. Knocks Max Verstappen, resident best driving boy, out of qualifying!!! This is unheard of. The paddock is alive.

But when Danny’s wrist heals, Liam is sent back into his reserve position.

FLASH FORWARD. We have another appendicitis.

Once again, a smooth operator ignores tummy issues. Drives lots. Finally sees doctor, and finds out he has been putting g forces on an appendix that MUST go.

ENTER: F1’s Peter Parker, Ollie Bearman.

This fresh faced babe is only 18. Is less than 4 one hundredths of a second off of knocking the greatest driver of all time out, Lewis Hamilton, of qualifying. Ironically, in this unspooled timeline that we’re currently living in, the seat that Ollie’s keeping warm? Yeah, next year, Lewis Hamilton will be in that seat.

And Ollie!!!! Is!!! Killing it!!!

He finished SEVENTH… ahead of Lewis.

And Lewis? Lewis is so proud of the literal child that he stands next to his car and waits for Ollie to free himself of the car so he can hug him.

Anyways, welcome to appendicitis 2. Silly season is about to get interesting.

“Ellie didn’t visit while I was gone, right?” Dick questions as they walk into the second basement to free the Amity Park residents that were arrested by the GIW for not complying to a house search or the GIW’s lockdown rules and those who were “too liminal” by the GIW’s standards. The rest stayed behind to wipe the GIW’s database and keep a look on all the agents as well as scientists and guards. The ghosts that were captured had already been released by Sam and Tucker. 

Danny shakes his head.

“No, last we heard from her, she was still in Puerto Rico.”

“Who’s Ellie?” Jason questions, trying to think back to the photos in the Fenton home, but he doesn’t remember a 7th person in the group photo. 

“My sort-of twin, slash clone,” Danny says and at Jason’s unbelieving look he adds, “It’s complicated.” 

Suddenly a girl appears, floating next to them, who looks like Danny’s female version if he had white hair and green exes, startling them all.

“You called?” she says, cheekily.

“How even-“ Danny starts and gets interrupted before he can finish his sentence when the girl sticks a green sticky note with something scribbled on it on his forehead.

Danny takes it, staring at it before he groans.

“Of course,” he grumbles. 

“Did you already greet the rest?” Dick asks and Ellie nods before she settles down on the ground and rings travel over her body, turning her hair black and eyes blue. 

“Yeah Mom and Dad told me you are down here.” 

She turns to Jason with a grin.

“Apparently we also have a new brother.”

“Ellie,” Dick warns, but before he can make a step to stop her, she transforms back and tackles Jason. 

To Jason’s surprise his Pit Rage stays quiet and a grin forms on his own face as they ruffle with each other. He ducks under a green blast, actually having fun as he attacks himself. Jason gets lost in the spar and by the time they stop, both panting, Jason notices Danny and Dick are gone.

“Where are Dick and Danny?” Jason asks in between breaths, where he is sitting down on the floor.

“They went to finish breaking out the Amity Pearl residents like ten minutes into our fight.”

She holds out a hand for Jason to grab.

“Good fight.”

Jason grins as he accepts, still slightly surprised at her strong grip as she helps him up without any difficulty.

“You too,” he echoes and finds that he isn’t even lying. 

“You finally finished?” 

They turn to Dick who has his arms crossed and an eyebrow raised as he takes in their ruffled hair and slightly with soot covered clothes and the new holes in the walls. 

Jason rolls his eyes as he straightens his clothes.

“It’s been barely 20 minutes,” he counters.

“It’s been an hour,” Dick corrects with a deadpan look, shaking his head. “We went by you to evacuate the residents and you didn’t even notice.” 

Jason gapes as the man turns to Ellie.

“Mr. Lancer says he prepared some homeschooling packets you can work on during the next trip,” Dick says. “I gave him your finished assignments.” 

“Thanks,” Ellie chirps. 

“How long are you planning on staying?” Dick asks as they walk back up, Jason slightly trailing behind them. 

Ellie hums as she raises her arms behind her neck.

“Haven’t decided yet,” she admits. “I do want to see the shit show that’ll happen when Mom and Jazz rip into the Justice League.” 

“Wait, what?” Jason questions, but he gets ignored. Jason blows the white lock hanging into his face away, annoyed.

Dick winces, slightly squeezing his eyes together.

“They remembered, didn’t they?”

“Yup,” Ellie says simply, popping the p. 

Jason slips between the two, before they can continue their conversation. 

“Hello, context please?”

Dick and Ellie exchange a gaze, before the former explains everything that happened with the Justice League and Danny, Sam and Tucker. Jason blinks at the information, once again left reeling, slowly starting to understand why Dick had acted so differently when he returned. 

“Danny slightly reversed the spell by showing B his memories,” Dick explains. “Apparently it had the effect that the memories of the people closest to the event will slowly trickle in. Thankfully the general public will still stay unaware of what happened.”

They turn the corner and Jason almost feels like in a fever dream as he takes in the situation. The Fentons — mainly Jazz and Maddie — are berating Bruce as the man is as still as a scolded puppy. It takes all of Jason’s concentration to not break out in laughter once again. 

Ellie gestures to the interaction as if to say, “See what I mean?”

Dick shakes his head fondly, before he joins where Danny is standing next to his father chatting with his friends along with Ellie. Jason stays rooted in his place until Jack waves him over with a smile. The man ruffles his hair as soon as he gets close enough.

Yeah, Jason could get used to this. 

Danny is snacking on popcorn when Dick joins him after using the zeta tube to get here, both leaning at the wall as they watch their mother and sister annihilate the Justice League with words alone, making them bend to their will to get rid of the GIW and the Ecto Acts as fast as humanly possible. 

The Justice League Dark are right behind them, supporting the two women as they glare at the Justice League. Turns out hunting Danny and essentially his fraid for sport could have been seen as a declaration of war on the Infinite Realms considering Danny's status as the savior of the Realms and unofficial prince. 

Dick doesn’t think he has seen Clark, Diana and the rest look so chastised before. Whenever one of the Flashes wants to pipe in a new green sticky note appears out of thin air and Jazz reads out Clockwork’s complaints about them messing with time. By now they have shut their mouth, considering the about 20 odd sticky notes gathered on the meeting table.

“You do know that my… other family won’t leave you all alone after this, right?” Dick says as Danny throws popcorn into his mouth. He doesn’t try to stare as he phases his hand back into his chest for another handful. This might be the one thing Dick will never get used to despite being liminal enough himself to develop some of the standard ghost powers. 

“Oh yeah,” Danny says easily. “They already don't.”

Dick lets out a sigh — yeah okay, he should have expected it.

“What did they do?” he asks, wearily. He knows he left them alone for a bit to make sure everything in Blüdhaven is still running smoothly before the meeting, but he couldn’t have been gone longer than a few hours. Although by now he should know this is plenty — both for the Bats and Birds and his family. 

Danny hums, slightly amused before he starts listing everything.

“Well, firstly Damian challegened Ellie to a duel,” Danny says. “It ended up in a draw and now he practically sticks to her shadow after she told him about all the places she visited and the exotic animals she saw. I’m also still 50/50 about the chances that Ellie will convince the boy to go travel with her around the world.”

Dick shakes his head with a smile. Leave it to Ellie to break through Damian’s serious demeanor so quickly. It will do him good if they stay friends. Maybe her being a free spirit will make it so Damian allows himself to act a little bit more like his age. 

“Then Tucker thought it would be funny to try hacking into Batcomputer and now he, Barbara and Tim are challenging each other to see who will be caught first in like their edition of a puzzle game,” Danny adds. “They are sending each other ciphers to crack and what not.”

Dick had always had the feeling that Tucker and Tim as well as Barbara would get along. All of them are a bit of a tech geek. And very competitive. He’ll need to keep a watch on them so they don’t take this too seriously. 

“Sam is painting Cass’ and Stephanie’s nails at the moment after they went shopping and Dad is playing video games with Duke. Jason and Alfred are busy in the kitchen,” Danny ends. 

Dick huffs out a laugh, not even surprised at the turn of events. 

“If someone told me roughly a year ago that this would be my current reality, I don't think I would have believed them.”

Danny grins, soft and relieved and for the first time Dick can see the boy Danny had been before the accident — without the constant responsibility of having to save his home city on his shoulders, of the possibility of dying if he makes a wrong step. 

“I know what you mean,” Danny murmurs and for a moment the boy seems far away as he gets lost in his thoughts. 

Dick leans against the boy, tucking him into his side to distract him from the memories. Danny practically melts into his touch and a wave of familial affection surges through Dick. He smiles at Danny’s genuine feelings that register to him. Safe, protected, loved.

“Thanks for letting me be your brother,” Dick says genuinely, having to blink back tears. 

Danny lets out a wet chuckle, pressing even closer to Dick. 

“No take backs anymore, Ric,” Danny teases.

Dick ruffles the boy’s hair with a smile.

“Of course not,” he denies, “I’m not Richard Grayson-Fenton for nothing, after all.”

Dick releases Danny after a few minutes of them soaking in each other’s warmth (or cold in Danny’s case) and steps away from the wall with a grin.

“Ready to save them from Jazz’s and Mom’s wrath?”

Danny chuckles but joins him nevertheless. It’s a feat to see that the boy doesn’t seem afraid of the Justice League anymore. 

“I don’t think they will let us.”

“Well at least we can say we tried,” Dick proposes and both of them laugh, walking over to the meeting with bright eyes. 

Things may be a lot different than Dick expected more than a year ago, but he can’t say he’s mad about it as Jazz and Maddie pull both of them into a side hug, not stopping in their tirade while they do so. Not at all.

I just can't help but bring up this insane article f1 posted this morning on why they chose liam

First off, rip Danny Ric. But listen, everybody knows that yuki has been probably the most successful driver for redbull besides max in the last two years. He's really matured into a consistent, reliable racer. But not only does the article list that it also goes on to list a bunch of other reasons that I THINK should have made yuki a shoo in for the slot.

He's out performed every teammate to date (besides his rookie year where it was pretty close) and he's been there in understanding he'll be in the running for a Red Bull seat eventually. AND THEN THEY GO AND BRING UP WHY HE DIDNT'T GET IT

And why Liam did get it....

Which sounds really oddly like how Yuki was described in his early years especially, that he was looked down on for and really oddly like how he was described 1 paragraph, right before before they said it wasn't enough. And then there's this set of paragraphs here that make me truly evil

Long craved for is a crazy thing to say about somebody who has not been in a car for a full season yet and then what's even crazier is following up with this

bc of their history max cant necessarily just enjoy daniel being sweet to him because he’s waiting for the other shoe to drop - not in a bad way but just because that’s how it’s been forever 💔 im in my danny ric and max feels today

Daniel had to "ration" when he could be nice to Max, because Max wouldn't tolerate it all the time, or really very often at all, and when Daniel and Max did things that Max didn't particularly 'like' he felt so awful about it when it was happening that he literally couldn't stop himself from being sweet. it made him feel like he was ripping his heart out to do that, and again- at the beginning of their whole thing, neither Daniel or Max are well versed in how to handle a dom/sub relationship in any capacity.

Daniel has dom drop a lot. He also doesn't really realize a safe word is also something that he can use. This is something that impacts his next relationship, with a tiny little snippet below (unnamed for plot reasons partner):

"You can be mean if you want. I don't mind."

Daniel's blood freezes, he feels like his skin isn't sitting right, and he's stuck for a moment, thoughts tripping over themselves in a downward spiral, and was he-

Daniel doesn't want to be mean, Daniel wants to be nice, wants to treat him with care, and soft words, wants to be sweet and gentle and kind. He doesn't want- he never wanted to be cruel, that isn't him-

He feels his gut churn, and he lays his head down against his chest, presses a soft kiss there as his eyes squeeze shut, but he can feel tears sliding off his nose anyways.

He takes a shuddering breath, feels a hand settling between his shoulder blades, fingers warm and comforting.

Daniel is struggling to handle the media alongside taking care of you while people are ripping into both of you, but mainly you. He’s falling apart at the seams. The sunshiney Danny Ric is gone and a shell is in its place. He doesn’t want to leave you at home because of how sick you are but the media at the paddock is so aggressive that you basically hide at the hotel all weekend.

And Max blames himself. He tells Christian to find the source of the leak (the employee who brought you the soda) and wants him fired. Christian is one step ahead of him and starts working with lawyers to have him sued into oblivion. He is slammed with questions on media day and he just snaps, “mate, the next person who talks about the people I love, especially the mother of my child, can get the fuck out” before walking out. This is all his fault. He hasn’t seen you or Danny in days. He gets a text from you with a hotel name and room number. This is it. You’re going to tell him to get out of your life.

But you just open the door and hug him, tears staining his shirt. Daniel is right behind you and he kisses Max’s temple before hugging him. The three of you talk it out and just cuddle all night and the next day, you walk into the paddock between both men and a bottle of ginger ale firmly in hand.

Tell us about Ars, Danny, and Ricardo? What are they like together? Does Ars act differently around Danny as they do Ric? Where do they all stand at the end of Retri?

Haha oh we’re inviting walltext. Sorry for the delay, this took me a few days to write out LOL dropping it beneath a cut bc it's pretty long.

tldr: ricardo means a lot to them and has always meant a lot to them, but theyre real bad at communicating. Daniel makes them better at communicating in some ways but they're very aware they fucked that up before it started. They're stuck in Ortega's apartment and theyre gonna implode dramatically.

Arsinoe and Ricardo have the weight of their past behind them, the 8-odd years of being at its complicate (with a break to be presumed dead) has comfort to it, Ricardo’s part of their normal, it’s like falling back into orbit when they’re near him. But there’s lots of things left unsaid, undefined, unclarified, because they felt they COULDNT in the old days and they certainly feel like they can’t now. Which is part of why they spend most of Retri avoiding him, whoops.

I think Ricardo’s afraid to push them too hard to clarify, these days, bc that might make them run again, and he wasn’t ready to push for things like publicly officially dating, in the Sidestep days. They trust each other in ways that are practically automatic at this point. They’d die for each other. They keep assuming they’re on the same page when they’re in entirely different books.

Arsinoe and Daniel sure don’t have that inertia behind them, so in some ways it’s easier to talk plainly? Daniel’s earnest bluntness and mental openness make Ars answer in kind. It's easier, smaller, maybe, for now, not as entwined as their relationship is with Ricardo, but that's safer, in some ways? They like his determination, his Decision to see the best in people.

They do have the, uh, fact that Arsinoe is So Very Aware that they fucked up his knee at the gala, because at the time he hadn't made it to the list of people they give a shit about and they'd decided that hurting him was the fastest way to be sure he wouldn't get in their way again. Whoops. This affects their interaction with him in two main ways-- they're pretty constantly worrying that they're taking advantage of the fact that he doesn't know - which is also kinda true - and they're hyperaware of not wanting to hurt him again, in a way that means they probably back off a little too fast when they're training which probably makes Daniel think they're going easy on him, sometimes?

So. They won't commit to anything real and firm and solid with either of them, because Arsinoe is very aware that the villain situation means anything they're building right now is going to inevitably fall apart except oops! car crash!! ortega knows theyre a regene and the world didnt end! Arsinoe's staying in Ortega's apartment, because it would feel like taking too much advantage of Daniel to stay in his apartment, and they don't want to leave Los Diablos to get to the Ranch, and Ricardo's apartment has been something like safe for them before so maybe it's safe now--

(They're rapidly running out of excuses to avoid talking about their relationships. I want them to villain reveal before they get anything firmed up relationship-wise, because they are-- very stressed out about building something they want and having it ripped away from them, inevitably. Safer not to name it. Probably going to accidentally imply to the guys theyre ready for a poly relationship talk and then actually hit them with the villain reveal. Sorry All.)

f1 tier list 2024 edition pt 2

Ok, I'm back with China, the home of Zhou Guanyu, the 1st Chinese F1 driver. I'm quite sad to see him go. 

Round 5, located in the Jiading District, Shanghai we are at the Shanghai International Circuit or 上海奥迪国际赛车场, but most English people know it as SAIC

Fun fact: the track was built to represent the Chinese symbol 上 “Shang,” which means “up” or “above,” and the direct translation from Google means “superior” (I have no idea how accurate Google is, though)

And the fastest lap was 1:32.238, completed by Michael Schumacher in 2004 (in its first-ever grand prix)

On to the important stuff like the race.

Well, Charles has made up for losing two places off the line, overtaking a haas into turn 14(I think)

Then goes through the other Ferrari on the straight to turn 1

Lap 5: a message from Will Joseph says that Alonso has been pushing his tyres. The Red Bull quickly breezes past, with not much resistance from the green team. 

Lap 7: Fernando is playing the long game. Lando takes his place, and he slots into the final podium spot.

Lap 9: insane move from Charles going around the long side of Russell, fearless on the breaks as usual; the move is solidified into turn 3

Lap 11: It seems that Charles is feeling extra brave, pulling out of the young Aussies slip steam late and to the inside of turn 14

Can't wait until Monaco

Tbh, rbr has been known to just dump drivers when they don't perform. Was it fair to De Vries? No. But it's not a particularly surprising move from Helmut Marko who was known to be particularly ruthless with driver change ups. And has been just slamming Nyck publicly at every chance.

Was it a good look for danny ric, doing sort of the same as was done to him in mclaren? No. But honestly, he's stated pretty clearly in newish articles that he wanted to have a seat with red bull and for that to happen he'd have to take the AT seat to prove himself despite it being a tractor.

He's said in previous articles he was happy not racing, but after I believe the Austrian GP to now, he's also said he was ready to get back in a seat. So yeah opinions do change. And Daniel is someone I see who is more or an impulsive career choice maker imo for better or worse.

But really, this isn't even about Nyck, because rbr were ready to wash their hands of him, this is more about checo's seat/performance in the most dominant car we've seen yet. All another ploy from Helmut/rbr to pressure cook checo, Yuki and Daniel to see who would be 2nd seat to rbr for 2024. Contracts never mattered with rbr and they're more then ready to rip them apart.

rbr are really one of the most ruthless teams on the grid...but this is more recent. They weren't this ruthless back when max was a rookie, but they treat other rookies like crap. No hate to max AT ALL, just wondering why rbr changed attitudes so quickly.
