Welp how are you feeling about the dlc? Didn’t try it out myself yet but i know what happens and uhh it sure is something
LMAO I've gone through the whole thing except the side stuff so extended review below. (Spoilers, obviously).
Narratively? Lazy. But I'm also a very harsh critic when it comes to story and writing and I suppose it's not like they were writing a sequel. It's DLC after all, not a whole new game. It's "extraneous" content you don't really need and boy did it really feel like that.
The beginning felt really strong and I was excited (even though after the first minute or two I had a pretty solid guess who the "one other!" character would be, and though admittedly I'm not through ALL the side content, upgrading characters and such, which is how I am CERTAIN you get this character unlocked, and I have a pretty solid guess on who it's going to be).
Kohga and Sooga's story??? Was a fucking??? Rollercoaster???? And a horrible one????? I got whiplash and then whiplash again and I didn't have any fucking time to process it because I wanted to get through to the shred of Astor content as quickly as humanly possible.
As I've said in a previous post, it was pro homo, homophobic, and then homo supremacist, and then homophobic again. But I suppose they're confirmed gay now because it was pretty much a textbook "bury your gays" situation. I do think it was a little traumatic that for the most part, we, as the audience, had to watch Sooga die twice. It was pretty well-understood in the main story that Sooga died protecting Master Kohga. And while the little flash of backstory was sweet and very revealing, the scene as a whole was so redundant because we already knew Sooga would die, and it let our hopes up that maybe he had survived (because they were fleeing from that original betrayal scene, where we all presumed him dead!) only to reveal that no, actually, he did die, and it was actually worse than we had originally imagined. The death was not on-screen, but it 100% felt like an on-screen death, as we physically watch all that energy leave his body and then it cuts to black, and that frankly was horrible, emotionally. (Story-wise though, I do think their mission was the strongest out of all of them, followed by Mipha & Sidon's and then Zelda & Rhoam's, but that's just personal opinion).
Something I did notice that did up the gay factor for me and really hammered in that "bury your gays" trope is that in the moment they are surrounded, there are some subtle but also very distinct parallels between when Link is left alone with the four blights and Sooga is. Unfortunately for our homosexuals, Kohga does not have a sealing power to awaken, and decides to run away. It's clear he's conflicted on whether or not to do so, but I think he ultimately chooses to not necessarily out of fear, but because it is clear from Sooga's perspective that Master Kohga making it out alive is the best possible way Kohga could honor Sooga's sacrifice. Sooga didn't want them to die together. Sooga's dying wish was for Kohga to live, and Kohga honored that.
That was a side tangent though now on to the fucking Astor.
Holy fuck bro. My expectations for you were low but holy fuck.
Somehow though? I think that's perfect for him?? Like oh my god king shit. Congratulations. Somehow, you made me know less about him. I feel like I know all information about Astor worse than I knew it before the DLC. What the fuck bro what the shit what the hellll.
Very glad to have had that measly shred of content though, in what was very easily the vaguest and most shallow cutscene of the whole game, because there are a couple beautiful shots of him and was proud to see that he had killed off his entire cult. (Well, not him, but.. you get it). We get no explanation of the cult. We get no explanation of the orb. Reasons I know fucking less about Astor than I did when I started.
Somehow it is so damn poetic though that they actually robbed him of even more agency by following it up with how it was very clearly Harbinger Ganon who was manipulating him and not the other way around, which is just... *chef's kiss* Like, they really took that one singular shred of power we all thought he had and tore it to fucking bits and pieces.
Gorgeous. Immaculate. Serene. King shit really. Look at this immaculate failure. You won cultmember jenga and got played by the great calamity. Congratulations.
It was actually made even clearer that Zelda & Co actually never learn his fucking name, which is somehow the most hilarious thing to me out of any of it. In that last mission Zelda says something along the lines of "omg its that guy who attacked us in Korok Forest" like they quite literally do not know who the fuck he is. He is quite literally just some random dude who walked up and started attacking them.
Everything about Astor makes less sense. When did he meet up with Kohga and Sooga. Why did they just instantly decide to trust him. How did he get Malice powers. The orb doesn't have a fucking name. Astor won the seance because he had anime protagonist hair and that was really the only thing that distinguished him from anyone else in that cult, and then he just got up and walked away.
11/10 somehow I think that fits

Desired Fate, Chapter 18
Read on AO3
Read on FF.net
I wanted to post this tomorrow, but I couldn’t wait any longer. Here it is! Warning, this chapter is coming at you with razor blades and lemon juice. You were warned.
Revali drew back the string of the Great Eagle Bow, preparing to deliver the killing strike to Windblight Ganon as it had grown more and more languid in its movement, and while it was still distracted by Sooga.
“This is it!” Revali called victoriously, letting the bomb arrows fly.
Sooga dodged the incoming explosives and they collided with Windblight in a grand explosion. The creature’s resounding bestial shriek was like a reward for a battle well fought.
Lowering his bow, Revali watched, savoring the moment as the blight hemorrhaged malice. He had faced the most grueling battle he’d ever experienced, and he would live to regale his fellow Rito of his triumph.
He turned his attention to the Yiga, still at a loss for their motivations. What had possessed them to turn against Calamity Ganon?
Well, whatever…  Revali thought. At least it wasn’t the vexingly silent knight wielding the sacred blade who came to save the day. He’d never live it down if it had been him…
Revali alighted before the two, holding back any outward sign of exhaustion or weakness. He regarded the Yiga with a hard look of suspicion.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I must thank you for coming to my aid. But just as a warning, if you do anything to make me question this...alliance, I won’t hesitate to -”
“Your threats won’t be necessary,” Sooga said simply, resheathing his dual blades.
Sooga’s words were clear despite the mask he wore, yet Revali paused, contemplating his words, not fully believing the situation. Revali braced himself for a surprise attack that never came as the moments passed.
He stared into the inverted crimson eye painted on Sooga’s horned mask and the long crack that ran across it, slightly unnerved that he could not see the man’s eyes or facial expressions. He’d have to rely on the man’s body language and tone of voice for assurance that he was not a threat.
Kohga approached, having remained a safe distance away during the fight. “Well done, Sooga! That was quite the display of Yiga bravado.”
Revali opened his beak to say something more, but before he could form the words, their attentions were drawn to the thunderous and deliberate footsteps of a Divine Beast.
He lifted off the surface of Vah Medoh to see which of the other Champions had come to his aid. Kohga and Sooga likewise rushed across the mossy stone that stretched the wingspan of Vah Medoh to look out into the distance.
“This should be interesting…” Revali remarked as he watched Vah Naboris approach.
“Urbosa’s coming….?! ...That’s our cue to leave!” Kohga blurted before retreating into a cloud of smoke and falling talismans.
Sooga turned to Revali and shook his head. “Master Kohga can be a bit of a coward when it comes to the Gerudo Chief. “Uh… Don’t tell him I told you that!” And with that Sooga followed after Kohga, leaving Revali alone.
----------------
The was a sterile, stillness that belied the Champion’s victory over the blights as Hyrule Field was cast in a dreary grey. There would be no breathtaking sunset to behold, nor the comfort the moon’s brilliant glow could bring, only the world darkening as night crept in.
The four that had seized the bokoblin camp for a moment of rest could sense the encroaching storm from the dark clouds above, but none spoke of it aloud.
Robbie cleared his throat. There was no longer a levity in his voice. “Where are you headed next?”
Astor didn’t meet Robbie’s eyes as he smoothed Zelda’s long golden hair with his gloved hand. It took a moment for him to respond, too focused on her downcast gaze.
“Fort Hateno... That’s where she is fated to awaken her inner power.”
“Then I wish you both luck.” Robbie offered, humbly.
Zelda hung her head and Astor squeezed her hand in comfort. The bleak refrain of Zelda’s court came to mind.
Heir to a throne of nothing…
She said nothing in response, and he wondered if she was thinking the same. She seemed to have retreated inward, having cried herself out.
Purah leaned forward to address Zelda. “Princess, I have faith in you, I do. You are not alone and we’re not going to give up trying to turn back the Calamity. I think we could all benefit if we set up camp here and call it a day. And if any monsters come by, we’ll beat them with our flails.”
“No… I must go to Fort Hateno right away.” Zelda replied shakily.
“I hate to be blunt, Princess, but you aren’t in any condition to operate the Master Cycle.”
“I’ll be fine, Purah.”
She didn’t sound fine.
Zelda quivered in his arms, and Astor’s chest tightened with unfamiliar apprehension.
Purah’s earlier antics would have made Kohga proud. Just like Kohga, she was perceptive, yet Astor was relieved to see a more serious side to her - as the situation demanded. He just hoped Zelda would heed Purah’s warning.
“A rest wouldn’t disturb fate, Zelda. And you do need the rest,” said Astor.
Purah and Robbie observed the couple pensively, and Astor felt like an oddity under their analytical gaze - as if they were trying to ascertain what Zelda had done to tame the Prophet of Doom himself - something Astor was in awe of as well.
“I won’t rest until I awaken my inner power,” Zelda said with as much determination as she could muster looking up at him with reddened, weary eyes.  “We don’t have a moment to waste. Let us be on our way.”
Astor followed Zelda. Despite his fatigue, despite his trepidation about getting back on the Master Cycle, he couldn’t fathom not going with her.
“Astor!” Robbie called after him.
“Hm?”
“Take care of her.”
-----------
Their journey to Fort Hateno proved to be miserable and treacherous as it had begun to rain not long after they departed. As they neared the West Necluda region, the moisture laden clouds above spilled their cold tears on the Goddess’s descendant and her elect. The rain slicked the grass and turned the packed earth roads to mud. The Master Cycle was at times buffeted by strong winds that made it difficult to maneuver. Visibility was low. Bridges became slippery.
Astor’s grip on Zelda’s waist tightened. Dread and guilt crept in as she began to second-guess her decision.
Why are we doing this? All my previous attempts to awaken my power have failed. What is it about Fort Hateno that will suddenly change everything? Ugh, I can’t allow myself to think like this.
The Master Cycle traversed through Dueling Peaks, and Zelda felt as though those towering cliffs were pressing in on them. The cliffs gave way to a vast plain, and the mountains in the distance were barely an outline in the night sky.
Zelda took care as they crossed the Big Twin Bridge, breathing out in relief when she had made it to the other side.
Almost there…
Even as Blatchery Plain stretched out before them, Zelda felt no closer to awakening the power within herself, and she didn’t know what recourse she had if this too did not work. These thoughts lingered as she pressed onward.
Blatchery Plain lay in ruin, desolate, and devoid of life - or so it seemed. A figure appeared in the immediate dim horizon, and Zelda’s heart froze as she swerved to avoid colliding with it. The Master cycle dipped a little too far for comfort to one side. Her heart thumped rapidly as she struggled to keep it upright. The tires squelched through the mud as they veered off the path and then returned.
“It keeps finding us…” Zelda said worriedly.
“Ganon always knows where we are…” Astor replied, trying not to let fear enter his voice.
Zelda looked back over her shoulder, a pit opening in her stomach when she realized the Harbinger wasn’t as far back as she expected. No, it was following them at a speed unlike other Guardians.
“Astor, whatever you do, hold on tight…” her voice was nearly muffled by the rumble of the engine.
A chill ran down Astor’s spine as he perceived the words of Calamity Ganon. It was a voice he knew all too well from prophetic dreams, the one that had urged him so fervently to kill the princess.
You are nothing, my wayward prophet without a prayer.
“Leave me alone!” Astor screamed, tearing his circlet that bore the eye of malice from his forehead. He turned and pitched it at the charging Harbinger. The red and yellow stone was crushed under its rampaging claw the next moment.
Do you think you can rid yourself of me that easily? That was merely an outward symbol of your devotion to me. Nothing more. You’ll never be able to wash the taint of malice away. Everyone is going to know who you are and what you did. You belong to me!
With the Harbinger closing in on them, Zelda pushed the Master Cycle to its limit. The engine chugged. Her stomach soured as the cycle struggled to gain speed.
There was a dreamlike sensation of slow-motion despite her rapid heartbeat, beating in time with Astor’s against her back. She felt as though -
The Harbinger’s laser is trained on them and after what feels like a silent eternity it fires. The high-powered beam of ancient energy tears through his back and exits her chest. They are enveloped in a blinding blue light as that final scream of failure is ripped from her.
She snapped herself out of that grim vision, still awash in panic. It had been easy to outrun the Harbinger in the Lost Woods, but there was nothing to slow its chase out in the open plain.
Her panic-fueled delirium reached a fever pitch. She didn’t dare look again, but she could hear the gurgle of malice and the mechanical whirring of the automaton itself.
Goddess Hylia... It’s right on us...How is it so fast? It’s somehow running at full tilt on three mechanical legs just to get at us. The effort alone should cause it to break down. It wasn’t designed to go at that speed.
Zelda despaired, thinking of how something her mother made so long ago with loving care had been corrupted by Calamity Ganon.
This was her final thought as the Harbinger swung its distended bladed arm, colliding with the vehicle’s back tire. The Master Cycle wavered pathetically from the force of the automaton’s slap, and then went down, skidding through the mud.
The sky and ground spun as she felt herself hit the ground, narrowly missing becoming pinned under the fallen Master Cycle.
The falling rain on her skin brought Zelda back to a vague awareness. Groaning, she opened her eyes. She barely registered that they were lying in a crumpled heap, but when she did, she reached for Astor as he stirred slightly. Her hands moved over him as she fought to regain her bearings.
“Astor… Please say something...” She could only mumble as her fingers stroked the braids that draped the side of his face.
Astor sucked in a breath, wincing. “I... think I’m still in one piece…”
There was mud all over her dress and numerous scrapes on her exposed shoulders and arms. The rain stung her open wounds, but that was only the beginning of her pain.
Lifting her head weakly, she saw that the Master Cycle was a complete loss - and the Harbinger loomed over them, its corrupted red display ebbing outward hypnotically as it regarded them.
“Zelda, run....” Astor urged her, helplessly.
She took in the glowing blue of the Harbinger’s many blades. It was toying with them, taking its time as a predator with prey.
“I can’t outrun it any more than you can. I won’t leave you.” Zelda gripped his hand, her voice resigned and weak.
The Harbinger began to emit a discordant tune.
To Zelda, it sounded so familiar in her mental haze but deeply wrong. However, Astor knew it all too well.
There were times when the Harbinger used to play a strange song. Even Kohga and Sooga had heard it ‘sing’ at odd intervals. They didn’t know what to think at first. Then, Astor learned the origins of the Harbinger and he realized its significance. The tune was little more than a malfunction - simply the machinery morbidly regurgitating a lullaby meant for the princess out of key. Kohga and Sooga’s howls of laughter carried through the Yiga Hideout on the day they came to the same realization, much to Astor’s annoyance. The toy Zelda had once cherished was now possessed by the most malignant spirit in the realm and Astor was hanging on its every instruction.
“I’m sorry this happened to you, Terrako…” Zelda said numbly.
And then Astor heard her make a seizing sound. The alarm and pain in her voice turned his stomach to rot.
Zelda stared at her feet in horror. They were as black as a decomposing corpse. She held them out as if paralyzed with pain. The same concerning blackness had appeared on her cheek, and others were appearing elsewhere, spreading.
“No, not her!” Astor screamed, taking hold of her in his arms.
Malice licked and traveled her body like a flame. It had started at her feet, blackening her skin and sandals, and traveled up. The malice infected her body, consuming her dress, her hair, and finally blooming in the whites of her eyes.
He cradled her in his arms, her darkened eyes staring back at him in wide open agony, and he wished the malice would consume him as well. She opened her mouth to say something, but the only sound that came forth was a terrible gasping sound.
“No… No…”
He pressed his face into the exposed skin of her shoulder, feeling the blighted flesh against his own. Her body gave no warmth, just a husk of her former beauty.
The anguish crashing down on him was unbearable as his raging thoughts took over - Hylia’s words turning over and over again in his mind, and all the things he wished he’d told Zelda.
I was supposed to die that way. Not her… I can’t let her die believing she’s a failure.
Hyrule’s future lay in ruin along with his own. What was fate if even the prophecy of the Goddess could be undone?
The Harbinger watched the prophet grieve, viewing the scene in the red tones of its censor. Certain the princess who bore the goddess’s blood would soon pass away, it turned to retreat.
Astor raised his head, hearing himself utter words he never thought possible.
“I love her… Know this, Calamity Ganon...I love her!” His voice shuddered in horrible defeat and desolation. “And I always will...”
Zelda grit her teeth as she shakily held her wasted right hand high.
The Harbinger had stopped in its tracks. It had ignored its former prophet’s confession, but now sensed a holy power brewing within the nearly lifeless girl.
A golden light had manifested in the palm of her hand, and in the next instant intensified into a brilliant and blinding dome that eclipsed the field.
Astor lifted his arm to shield his eyes, still embracing her with the other.
The dome of light faded out. Astor opened and closed his eyes, his vision coming back into focus.
“That light… It's…”
She held her arm out still, rigidly. Astor could only stare in awe at the unmistakable triangular mark on the back of her hand, and when her extended arm began to falter, he clasped her hand before it could fall limply to her side.
Zelda serenely closed her eyes. Astor thought he heard her exhale softly as she sank back into his arms, going limp. The black malice receded slowly, beginning at the sacred mark on her hand. The skin beneath had an otherworldly immaculate quality to it. And though the malice departed from her body and hair, it was plain to see that her clothing and jewelry would remain corroded and black.
The Harbinger was gone. Astor could only imagine it had retreated. There was nothing but the calming sound of rain falling as it began to taper off, and the dark clouds began to break, leaving nothing but the starry night sky and the moon. Astor’s gaze rested on the soft rise and fall of her chest.
There was the clanging of armor and Astor turned his head to see two Hyrulian soldiers approach.
“What was that light?” The soldier let his gaze fall on the girl in Astor’s arms and then the wrecked vehicle, going silent.
“Who are you? What did you do to the princess!?” the other barked.
“I... I’m her seer. I helped her awaken her sacred power.” Astor gave them a tired, elated smile, too thankful to Hylia that Zelda was alive to demand respect from these two lowly Hyrulean Soldiers.
The soldiers glanced at one another skeptically, not sure whether to take the strange, suspicious man at his word, but there was no denying the light shining dully from Zelda’s hand.
“Should we believe him? I know of no royal seer in attendance to the princess. Where is her appointed knight?”
“He certainly doesn’t look the least bit royal to me… Anyways, we need to get Her Highness to safety. Alright, Sir, you’re going to carry Her Highness to Fort Hateno, and you’re going to mind your hands while you do.”
Astor bit back a scathing insult and gathered the princess in his arms, following the soldiers in the direction of their destination. It wasn’t long before his arms ached terribly, and he didn’t think he would be able to carry her any longer, especially in his condition.
“Just a little further,” the first soldier said, not unkindly.
Astor adjusted his aching arms, Zelda still not stirring, and he pressed on.
They passed by countless broken-down Guardians.
“That light… It seems to have disabled the Guardians in the vicinity.” The soft-spoken soldier remarked.
They passed through the raised iron gate and the stone-faced soldier directed Astor to a tent.
“She can rest here. You rest over there,” the soldier ordered testily, pointing to another tent some distance away.
“You must be joking... We haven’t been apart during the entirety of the Calamity.”  Astor felt the words leave his mouth helplessly.
“I care not! And I’m going to be keeping an eye on these tents to make sure nothing untoward happens until she can be reunited with her rightful appointed knight or advisor.”
Astor’s chest tightened, furious and in disbelief at the soldier’s callousness. “Just what are you accusing me of? We were attacked! Listen to me, you presumptive scab, there’s a very dangerous Guardian still out there and it's not done with us. I can’t leave her side. She’s incapacitated and defenseless.”
The soldier drew his sword. “Which is exactly why I won’t let you stay by her side,” he spat. “I’m not going to let you take advantage of the Calamity and sully her reputation, whoever you are. You expect me to believe your tall tales? I’ve yet to see a Guardian I couldn’t handle. Now, do as I say. I’m already granting you far more accommodation than you deserve!”
Astor shut his eyes in surrender and hugged the girl in his arms, knowing he could not afford to escalate the situation any further. He laid her in the tent and then turned to tiredly lurch toward the other, grumbling under his breath about how he was going to be sleeping with one eye open.
In his dreams, they stand under the Blood Moon hand in hand. The sky and land are awash in a scarlet glow. As her right hand clasps his left, he can sense her power resonating. Zelda stares up at the beast circling her home, undaunted, and smiles.

If that is what you wish (2/?)
[part 1] || [AO3] [discord]
wowee i cant believe im writing this as fast as i am bc everything else im working on is on the backburner :(
as far as “official” dialogue im pulling inspo from both the english and spanish dubs of the game (but the spanish dub is so so much more emotionally grippin than english and i will fight everyone who disagrees)
but i cant believe i love me an angry rat man and i blame unsanctitude and every one of those anons that send such good headcanons for him, 10/10
The assassination of Hyrule’s princess had failed. It failed, and the loss fell squarely on Sooga’s shoulders. With the Champions and her knight following her every footstep and command, Zelda was sure to find her knight worthy to pull the sword that could prevent the Calamity — their destiny.
Sooga returned to the hideout deep in Karusa Valley with the weight of both Kohga’s and Astor’s disappointment on his shoulders. He’d never forget how his master seemed both dissatisfied and apathetic with him — he had his reputation and standard to uphold — and how Astor seemed unperturbed by the news, as if he had expected the loss to begin with.
“Enough of your groveling,” Astor hissed, gesturing for Sooga to sit upright from his place on the floor. Disgusting, he thought, their second-in-command pleading for mercy for his failure. “Her united champions are merely a miscalculation in our plans, but things are falling in place as they should.”
The prophet was hiding something. It made Sooga’s blood boil.
“And the boy?” Sooga inquired. “This is the second time that Hylian has thwarted our plans. He’s a persistent warrior, always close to the princess. Perhaps our strategies should focus on him a little more closely.”
Kohga’s fingers drummed against the armrest of his chair. “He’s got a point. Blondie’s the one screwing everything up. Personally, I’ve got a bone to pick with him.”
“They are moving forward to the Lost Woods.” Astor ignored their comments to sip the last of his tea, swirling the cup three times before delicately placing it upside down on its saucer in front of the altar where his harbinger continued to rest. “Perhaps, given your failures thus far, it shall be I who will meet them deep in the forest.”
Sooga stood to take his place back at his master’s side. He bit his tongue from arguing with the prophet. “I have no objections.”
“You’re the one runnin’ the show, pal.” Kohga glanced at the unmoving Guardian hidden among the bananas. “Is that thing gonna stay?”
“I admit, your ancestors have chosen a well-hidden slice of this world to establish your clan. It will remain here until I return,” he replied. He finally picked the cup by its handle and inspected it carefully, reading where the leaves had gathered on the inside. Ah, there it was. The leaves dotted the bottom of the cup in a familiar pattern, likened to the malice that Calamity Ganon would soon use to consume Hyrule Castle.
Simply exquisite.
Satisfied with the placement of the black leaves, Astor waved his hand over the cup once more and placed it back upright on its saucer. He turned to leave. “I shouldn’t be long. I will execute the boy myself, and that sword will remain on its pedestal. The princess will continue searching for her knight in time for the Calamity to reign supreme.”
When Astor seemed to be out of sight, the Yiga exchanged a doubtful glance between themselves. Reading tea leaves was a practice that not even Kohga himself had much experience with, nor did he care much for any methods of fortune-telling. As far as he knew, it was all a bunch of hocus pocus compared to his own knowledge of the esoteric arts. Kohga warily stepped up to the altar where Astor had stood to peek into the teacup, Sooga following closely behind him.
It was empty.
——
The air inside the Yiga Hideout was stifling. Sooga couldn’t place his finger on exactly when he noticed the change. Astor had left nearly two moons ago — probably the longest amount of time he had ever spent outside of their shared space — with no signs to return.
It troubled Sooga more than it did Kohga.
‘He knows what he’s doing,’ his master would chide with a yawn. Kohga had taken to pretending things were all fine and going according to their grand plan, opting to worry less about the prophet’s true intentions to enjoy his time loafing about as he usually did. It was late in the evening, at least running an hour over Kohga’s usual nap time.
Sooga paced restlessly in front of the altar of their meeting place, waiting for Astor’s triumphant return while the Guardian listened to the sounds of his footsteps. As much as he distrusted the prophet, he was the only one pulling the strings to ensure the prophecy of Calamity Ganon’s return came true. While he served Master Kohga, the Yiga as a whole served Calamity Ganon. They alone couldn’t bring him to life.
When Astor had first arrived at their doorstep deep within Karusa Valley nearly undetected, coming with promises and visions to set their destiny in motion with a dormant Guardian, Sooga thought it was almost too good to be true. He could smell a rat when he saw one. However, it wasn’t his choice to deny him. Master Kohga welcomed him with open arms.
He paused in front of the center of the altar where Astor’s empty cup had remained. Truly, he believed that this prophet was a cancer slowly spreading into their clan, bringing them not closer to their victory, but to their doom. His fingers lifted the empty teacup to peek into it once more; it was enough evidence for Sooga to question his motives. Something was in the tea leaves, only to be swept clean by Astor’s hand. What was he hiding?
“And what is your role in all of this, little one?” he muttered, glancing upward to the Guardian. Its orange light would glow through the dark room then grow dim, the singular eye fixated on the ceiling as it always did. It never seemed to respond without Astor present — not that Sooga would understand its answer if he was given one.
However, when the light began to glow again, he noticed the eye had focused on him.
An unpleasant chill ran through his bones.
“Talking to yourself, are you?”
Sooga, startled by the sound of a familiar voice, turned quickly to find Astor standing on the other side of the table. He looked disheveled with his hood down, long hair strewn about his shoulders in every which way. The assassin had never seen him without his hood concealing the better part of his face; either Astor had stopped taking care of himself to dedicate his life to bring about the Calamity, or he never bothered to do so in the first place.
The Guardian’s eye moved to follow Astor’s movements as he skulked to take his place at the altar, ripping the teacup out of the Yiga’s hand. Looking closer, Sooga could tell that his eyes looked even more sunken in than they usually did. “Here I was, expecting the tea to be ready upon my arrival.”
“The boy has pulled the sword, hasn’t he?”
The way Astor’s lips turned into a deep frown spoke more volumes than he would ever care to admit, especially to Sooga. “Where is your oaf of a master?”
“Master Kohga is asleep. Waiting for your return is rather exhausting.”
“Fetch him. I have news to discuss with him.”
“With us,” Sooga interjected. Again, the teacup was pulled from Astor’s hand into Sooga’s and cast aside. “I will not allow you to fail us again, ‘seer’. What you may consider our failures are nothing but your own. Whatever vision you have next better guarantee us putting a stop to the princess and her champions, especially now that the Hylian is in possession of the legendary sword.”
Astor tilted his head up to glare at Sooga. “You doubt the validity of your true master?”
Sooga’s large hand reached out to pull Astor closer by the front of his robes. “I question the integrity of your objectives,” he snarled. “You have done nothing but lead us blindly into danger on the promises of bringing Hyrule to its collapse, yet their forces continue to grow stronger with each passing day. You are but a blight, poisoning our clan, and I will not tolerate another deceitful lie that will put Master Kohga’s — or our clan’s — life in jeopardy.”
The prophet remained cool under the threat of Sooga’s words. He chuckled and brought his hand up to pry the Yiga’s fingers off of his clothing. “By all means, if you think you can bring the Calamity to fruition yourself” — he presented his neck, more than amused when Sooga’s hand tightly wrapped around his throat — “go on and tempt fate.”
The thrill of being able to take matters into his own hands rushed through the assassin’s veins. All it would take was one squeeze—
"Sooga, sir!”
The doors to the hidden room slid open with one of the blademasters poking their head through the opening. There was a long, drawn out pause at the sight of the second-in-command with his hands around Astor’s throat. “Sir?”
“Leave us.” Sooga didn’t acknowledge his presence, solely focused on counting down the seconds it would take for Astor to take his last breath.
“M-Master Kohga is awake, sir.”
Astor craned his neck — as best as he could, anyway — to glance behind him to the blademaster for a brief moment. While the Yiga’s timing was questionable, it was impeccable at the wrong times. He sneered back at the mask Sooga wore as he fixed the hood of his robes back over his face, mouthing his words. ‘Go on.’
After a few more seconds, Sooga reluctantly released the prophet with a huff. He couldn’t kill him within the presence of one of his own clan members and with the Guardian still watching them ominously. Oh, how lucky Astor’s fortunes were on his side.
The prophet took one step backward to smooth out the wrinkles in his robes, nonplussed by his underling’s actions. Instead, he turned his back to Sooga to fully acknowledge the blademaster with a wave of dismissal.
“Send him up.”
——
After a course of favorite Kohga’s dessert — a small platter of Voltfruit and Mighty Bananas drizzled with honey — Astor delivered the news neither of the commanders had wanted to hear: the chosen hero had awakened with the Master Sword in hand. The Sheikah Towers were their next target, and with one close by…
Kohga’s chin fell into his hand as he struggled to put two-and-two together with his mind still hazed over from his long nap. “So, if they activate all the Sheikah whatsits—” his hand idly spun, trying to formulate the correct words, “— how does it affect us?” Astor stood in his rightful place, his ancient core in his hands as he meditated, ignoring Kohga’s rambling thoughts. Kohga tilted his head toward Sooga at his side for clarification.
The taller Yiga leaned in to whisper into Kohga’s ear. “Those Sheikah whatsits would reveal our location and what we are doing.”
The threat of their hideout — their home — being uncovered after thousands of years in hiding provided some clarity: they were in danger of losing everything. Suddenly Kohga’s mind cleared with the severity of the situation. His nails scratched deep across his head as he grumbled to himself. “If they discover our lair, we’re royally fucked.” His other hand banged against the table with a heavy thud.
Sooga knew Kohga had a penchant for being angry — and he had every right to be. Words of comfort weren’t his strong suit. He could only nod in agreement.
“Leave it in my hands,” Astor said, just loud enough to garner their attention. He opened his eyes and addressed them, a thin smile placating on his lips. “Bide your time until the time comes for you to play.” His eyes fixed toward Sooga specifically, daring for him to object again.
The Guardian screeched with a bubble of Malice, casting the candlelit room into a hue of purple. It drew Astor’s attention back to the core in his hands, and made Kohga sit upright in his seat as Malice continued to shroud the Guardian. Again, he was struck with awe, sensing the presence of someone greater than himself. Finding Sooga still standing upright, Kohga jabbed his elbow into his midsection.
“Show some respect, Sooga! These are the wishes of our Lord Ganon!” he hissed quietly.
Quickly taking the hint, the taller Yiga bowed swiftly. “A-Apologies!”
“A Guardian controlled by Ganon…” Astor’s words lingered in the air, the sheer power of the Guardian striking a sense of fear into Sooga’s veins. “With him at our disposal, Hyrule will be at its knees, and the world will be ours!” The sound of the prophet’s laughter filled the room, delighting Kohga in his seat. Maybe, just maybe, things would start to turn around for them.
Sooga glanced at the Guardian on its pedestal. ‘The immense power of Ganon… could it be controlled so easily?’ he wondered. From the top of Kohga’s headpiece, the Guardian seemed to stare straight into his soul. Through the uncertainty, the assassin knew that even this Guardian was more powerful than Astor himself. No, not even a self-proclaimed prophet could control this being.
“Laugh with us, Sooga! Don’t kill the mood.” Kohga patted his arm in a bid to relax.
Through a tear of the Malice cloud, another vision had procured: green fields littered with rubble and trees of all autumnal colors filled the void. Astor hummed lowly to recall the name of the region. “The Akkala Highlands... that is their key to unlocking the last of the towers. We must not let them gain control of the tower, if you wish to keep your home safe from discovery.” The Malice evaporated, basking them again back in the candlelight glow. “This is perhaps your last chance to make yourselves useful, lest you are willing to lose your home.” His head turned to face the Yiga. His smile was gone. “Am I heard?”
Neither of them said anything: they understood the risks. Kohga's chin fell into his hand again as he looked to his second-in-command. Sooga lowered his head with another bow.
“If that is what you wish.”

finished age of calamity
i liked it but i dont like people saying “better story than breath of the wild” because botw didnt really have that much of a story. like yeah the memories but it was like... backstory/lore...??
story wise, i dont know what i was expecting. this being the “everybody lives” au that we all wanted was... actually great. we didnt have to play as the champions dying!
bruh (i played wind and lighting first) when that cutscene happened, i couldnt stop screaming. its cliched and i should have thought something like that would happen given eggbot did time travel from the beginning but im so glad i didnt get spoiled for it because i was so moved
rip teba tho because everyone else got along really close with the champions and him meeting revali is just “uh... he certainly was a guy”
im living for every revalink interaction, as in every moment revali makes a jab at link, including the final move where everyone is “go gett’m!!” and revalis just “dont fuck it up!!” gosh this game fed me, thanks for the good
bro i cant stop crying over mipha and sidon. the fact that he came from the ruined time and “i wont let you take her again” im 😭😭😭😭😭
astor was a disappointment, but i wasnt hoping too much for him in the first place, he was very generic from the get go
i did not expect to like kogha and his OC yiga henchman sooga so much (if ur asking u already know but yes they are yiga husbands) the moment kogha didnt run and stayed to fight with sooga, then bowing his head to his sworn enemy because of his losses, im just 😩😩😩 anyway im HOPING sooga’s not actually dead because this is the everyone lives au
i was hoping eggbot’s origin was a little more complicated but i guess i cant expect too much from a zelda game. kinda mmm that zelda had NO RECOLLECTION of eggbot. like, girl you made that. i know shes busy and a kid but kids are usually really impressionable. iunno
also speaking of zelda, glad the king is alive and apologizes tho i feel like she also apologized but SHE DID NOTHING WRONG.
.
gameplay wise, yeah its fun. i started listening to some reviews and i guess its easier than other warriors games? i played the first hyrule warriors but its been so long i dont remember what that was like. plus its more botw infused so theres that.
not a fan of.... the clothes changes? i mean, i guess that was a thing in the other hyrule warriors and botw link had outfits but they dont do anything here? and i finished the game so the champions and zelda also get outfit changes but uhhhhh iunno
my fav to play as is mipha, urbosa and impa. i want to get good with revali but most of his  moves use him in the air and its kind of annoying. and teba is fun if you only use his strong attacks. i prefer yunobo over daruk, no offense, but i think gorons should punch (darunia was fine from what i remember, i think his hammer felt like it hit harder than daruk’s boulder breaker) sidon is fine but his strong move is kinda hard to get a hang of, same with king’s form change.
monk is fun, fairy queen is too big and hestu is kinda too gimmicky
.
uhhhhh yeah. i didnt think this would have any tie ins with botw2. so if anything, botw 2 is like the majoras mask to OOT while aoc is the... proper timeline?

@gerudosage sent / meme i forgot good luck finding it ;
“ tough luck, friend. sounds like you don’t have a place here. ”
each and every day sooga was damned to enter the castle walls as a guest, not an intruder, his skin crawled. like a lion with its claws and fangs ripped out, the hints of lingering fear in the eyes of servants and noble people whose paths he crossed often alleviated at the visible reminder that the yiga came no longer as foes, but... friends. kohga’s bumbling persona only aided in such endeavors. sooga often could not tell if he intentionally was exaggerating his natural personality, or simply felt so at ease in the castle, but nevertheless did it garner nothing but laughter and merry spirits from their surrounding company.
even guards he recognized once on the battlefield, now retired from war to walk the castle’s halls, had been seen laughing with his master. a hylian captain suggested they grab a drink together when the opportunity arose.
his mask concealed every slight twinge of disdain, every hint of frustration, but his stiff shoulders and stubborn refusal to relinquish the few old ways of the yiga that all of the others had readily given away were enough of a tell of his true feelings on the matter. yet, kohga didn’t notice, blissfully ignorant.
no, instead, it was those he wished to not pay mind, drinking in his frustrated state like fresh spring water after weeks of parched desert travel.
sooga’s brow wrinkled, focusing on kohga in the distance slapping the back of one of royal’s court as they laughed over drinks.
‘ how long have you been practicing that little quip? ‘
in the shadow of the dining hall, sooga found it far more comfortable to observe and keep eye on his master’s merriment from afar than up close, much to kohga’s chagrin. he had invited him time and time again to partake in the generosity princess zelda had seen to their feasting, but the only time it had been humored had been to ensure the food and drink hadn’t been poisoned. any much more involvement than truly necessary, and he may very well be sick from something other than poison.
‘ wherever master kohga is capable of finding himself a place, ‘ sooga began, finally regarding nabooru with a tilt of his head. damn her smarmy smile, the cocky glint to her eyes. ‘ then mine is beside him, ensuring his safety. ‘
a brief thought came to correct her on her usage of the word friend, but, knowing it would only egg her on into heckling him further, he merely resigned himself to looking back.
‘ so bored of playing dignitary you have to seek me out to entertain you? such lows to stoop to. ‘

This blog <3 I go back to re-read everything when I need to smile! So... while re-reading the spanking one, I noticed Kohga says he's into being treated like a degenerate. Consider... Kohga ordering Sooga to reverse roles and just really *use* Kohga for a day. Tease him, rough him up, use him.... treat him like a degenerate, as Master Kohga likes!
Translation; make Sooga a fucking top and make Kohga take it. I gotchu, I gotchu
"Sooga! Get in here!"
Sooga entered the napping spot, as Kohga commanded. He was hesitant the second he saw what Kohga was reading. The rumor mill, written by some mad woman named Traysi. He’d never met her, and he’d like to keep it that way. She wrote nothing but gossip, horoscopes, and just stuff that numbs your brain. It was sad, how much Kohga LOVED her work. However, he tried not to sigh, knowing damn well what was coming.
“Yes, Master Kohga.”
“Traysi just printed out this new relationship couple advice column, and it’s SUCH a great idea, we’re gonna do it!”
“I’m scared to ask, but what is it we’re doing exactly?”
Kohga got off the bed, and held the page to Sooga, as if he was proud to show it off. Sooga glanced over the small column, and to some it up, it said ‘trade roles for the day. Trade chores, routines, and positions ;)’. Sooga cocked his head to the bit.
“So...you do all MY chores for a day? And I do yours?”
“Yep! For a whole day! Starting right now!”
Sooga stood there for a moment, before he damn near pouted.
“I already don’t like this.”
“Oh come on! Give it a shot, for me! Please, Sooga.”
“...if it’s for you. I suppose I can try.”
“Atta boy! So, what is it YOU do around this time?”
Sooga thought about it for a moment, counting them on his fingers as he listed them off.
“Right now? I train the foot soldiers, I make sure their rooms are clean, I re set the traps, I feed the keese, I check inventory, and of course I make notes for you to review. I was about to get started on all of that when you summoned me.”
Kohga clearly didn’t like the idea of all of that work, but didn’t say a thing as he just slowly nodded.
“Alright. That’s not THAT bad I guess-”
“That’s within the hour. But you’re Master Kohga, surely you can handle it. I’m more worried about MY tasks I’m supposed to do.”
Kohga put his hands on his hips, and motioned outside.
“Oh it’s terrible. You have to sit in the kitchen, eat a full meal, and take a LONG nap after you do an hour of training.”
“...I like one of those three things.”
“I like none of YOUR things. Except knowing we’re doing something new. So, let’s go.”
Kohga was about to walk out, when Sooga’s words suddenly halted him.
“Wait a moment. So...I essentially get to do what I want?”
“I mean...yeah, I guess? I mean don’t milk it but-”
“Let me hold your hand and call you precious.”
Kohga looked around, as if expecting a joke, but received no such thing. He sighed, putting his hand into his, and let Sooga look at him in absolute awe for a good second.
“Happy?”
“You are so precious, and I love you.”
“Holy shit you’re a sap. Can I go and get started? This shit is already a lot, and your food is getting cold.”
Sooga let him go, but already missed him. Oh well. He could power through the day. Right?
------------------------
“I. Fucking. Hate. Your. Life.”
“I didn’t want to be rude, but I do too.”
Kohga had done nothing but WORK. Filing reports, re setting traps, making sure everything was in line and in order, and THEN, and THEN, he had to write all this shit down. He plopped down right on top of Sooga, who looked like he was suffering just as much.
“How was training?”
“Awful. I never ate so much in one setting, and I’ve never made myself sleep so often in the day. SEVERAL times. I feel bloated, exhausted.”
“My body hurts with all this bullshit. I forgot how many traps we got around this bitch. I...kinda forget how much you do around here. AND with me bossing you around to boot.”
Sooga chuckled, lightly patting his back.
"You bossing me around is the best part of my day. If anything, my days would be longer without you."
Kohga chuckled, lightly thunking his forehead against his chest. It was exhausting, but in a way, he was happy they did it. He liked seeing just how much work Sooga went through on the daily. Not just for the clan, but for him. Kohga was about ready to take a nap, when Sooga cupped his face in his hand, lightly squishing it, just how HE would do.
“You know, as much as I’d hate to have to do your daily things...I think there is SOME merit to this activity. I have a new...perspective on something. A different thing that needs to be taken care of.”
Sooga strummed his finger up his chest, before lightly tapping his mask. Kohga sat there, confused for a moment, before he laughed.
“Sooga! You talkin’ what I think you’re talkin?”
“Quite. We’ve both had a long day. Besides, it’s your job to do what I want, isn’t it?”
“Ah, gettin’ smart with me! Alright, you lay on your-”
Sooga held his finger up, and Kohga was silenced, mostly because he was stunned. This fucker was doing HIS bit! The balls on this guy! Kohga folded his arms across his chest, trying not to pout, and forced himself to be silent. Sooga was letting the power get to his head, and Kohga...kinda liked it. Sooga tried not to be too giddy as he continued.
“I make the choices. Now, I do believe you’re supposed to be my big, strong bodyguard, act like it.”
Kohga was trying not to burst into tears, and Sooga was damn near trying the same. Kohga puffed up his chest, holding his arms to the side like a Lynel.
“Right, I’m stupid, thick, and so emotionally constipated because I have my head up my ass.”
Sooga scoffed, clearly not impressed with his impersonation. But it seemed as though two could play at this game. Sooga suddenly laid back, right across Kohga’s lap, leg up in the air, and the back of his palm against his forehead.
“Oh! I’m so great despite my commitment issues! Look at my GREAT legs!”
“Aw, you think I have nice legs?”
“Everyone thinks you have nice legs.”
Kohga cupped his cheek, and for a moment, Kohga felt himself swooning. It was so rare to see Sooga as NOT a stick in the mud for a chance. It was rare to see him...be a person. Kohga was about to call the whole thing off, get some cuddle time in as a reward, when suddenly Sooga had him on his stomach, head pushed against the pillow. His breath was husky against his ear, and Kohga swore it made everything in him tingle.
"You remember our safe word, right?"
"Y-yeah?"
"Good. Because I'm going to play with my fussy kitty till he's finally satisfied."
Sooga loomed over him, locking their legs together, as if Kohga would try to run from him. Sooga was still nervous, given the few seconds of hesitation in between his words and his actions, but Kohga wouldn’t discredit him for that, not when he was honestly trying his best, not when he was going way out of his comfort zone. Sooga kept his hand over his mouth, while his other hand dug deep into the flesh of his ass. Kohga moaned gratefully into his palm, already mentally ready to clock out. Sooga knew just how to touch his ass, and he loved it.
"Open."
Kohga obeyed, opening his mouth and accepting two of Sooga's fingers. He suckled on them, the same way he would for a cock, and it clearly made Sooga a bit nervous. Him being a top was usually instigated by jealousy, or high affection. When it was a pure swapping of roles...well, Sooga was doing his best to stay calm. Kohga peeled his lips away for a moment, kissing his palm, and letting him know it was okay. Sooga took a sigh of relief, before shoving them back in, a bit forcefully.
"Keep sucking, I didn’t say stop."
Kohga nodded, slurping and suckling, just how he knew best. It helped that Kohga was plenty hard now, given the way Sooga was playing with his ass. He tore his fingers away after a moment, watching his drool coated hand, before Kohga heard the tear of fabric. Sooga was so impatient sometimes, opting for destroying his clothes instead of just taking them off.
"God dammit Sooga, stop ripping-"
"Did I say you can FUCKING talk?"
Sooga delivered a harsh slap on his ass, making Kohga jump. He was still for a moment as pleasure rocketed up his spine. Oh that was a GOOD fucking slap. Sooga sputtered, thinking it had gone too far, when Kohga nodded.
"I'm sorry, I'll be good, I promise."
ANYTHING to get a nice, dominant slap to his ass like that again. Sooga sighed in relief, before slipping his wet fingers into his ass, massaging and stretching his asshole. It felt good, sure, but Kohga was so impatient. Though, Sooga knew that.
"Stop squirming."
"Come on Sooga, you know I don't need prep-"
"Who said this was for you?"
Sooga delivered another strike on his ass, this time making Kohga cry out like a wounded animal. Right on the same spot, oh so hard and oh so sensitive. Sooga's breath was right at his ear.
"This is for me. I like watching how your ass takes it. Now sit there, look pretty, and stop interrupting. Understand?"
Kohga nodded quickly, fingers gripped onto the pillow below him. He sat there, cock throbbing as Sooga massaged his asshole, occasionally delivering swift strikes to his ass. It was like hypnosis, each slap bringing Kohga's mind closer to that lust fueled daze he loved so much. One that made him take it, one that made his mind blank, and his mouth loud. By the time Sooga stopped to admire his work, Kohga was a shaking, horny, drooly mess. He'd take anything in him at this point, and it excited them both. Sooga pulled himself out of his uniform, and laid back on the bed. He patted his lap.
"Up here, kitten. Your turn to do some work."
Kohga shakily forced himself to move onto his lap. He was about to face him and hop on, when Sooga motioned him to turn around. Right, he liked reverse cowgirl, because he was a pervert who liked looking at his ass. He obeyed and turned, holding onto his legs as he slowly sat on his cock. Oh that hit just the spot. Kohga loved cock. He needed it. Needing knowing a big, handsome man was inside of him. And it was why Kohga didn’t move slowly. He moved fast, ass smacking against Sooga as he rode that cock, taking it as quickly and as deep as he could.
"Oh FUCK Sooga, that's the-SHIT!!"
He found himself trembling as Sooga smacked his ass again, nice and hard, with an open palm.
"Keep riding me. Because you don't get to cum until I do."
"B-but-"
"I. Said. Ride. My. Cock. NOW."
Another slap to his ass. Kohga knew he couldn't sit right for a week after this, and he didn't at all care. He still rode him, desperately trying to ignore not only his throbbing cock, but Sooga’s MANY strikes across his ass. Sooga was being so rough with him; striking his ass, occasionally digging his fingers inside his flesh. Then, he suddenly grinded it to a halt.
"Stop."
Kohga grumbled angrily, close to damn near kicking his legs in frustration.
"Dear god WHAT?"
"Move slow."
"B-but-"
"Move. Slow. I want to see it slow. Now, or NEITHER of us are cumming."
Kohga grumbled bitterly, before he forced himself to obey. He moved himself slowly on his cock, letting Sooga watch as his ass inhaled his cock. It was agony, not putting this gerth to proper use. He had no idea how long he was sitting here in agony, but it was enough to make Kohga whine. He wanted his pulsing cock in him, and he wanted it now. Then Sooga decided he had, after a long, LONG while of this slow show, that his Master finally deserved the good shit.
"I cum first. If you cum before me, I am going to be VERY. Angry."
Sooga grabbed the back of his head, and pushed. He was suddenly on top of him again, starting to slam into his ass with that hard, fast pace Kohga was oh so gratefully accepting. As if that wasn't enough. As if that cock pounding at his back door wasn't enough. Sooga wrapped his arm around his face, muffling his cries as his mouth and nose, with his armpit. His hot, sweaty, stinking armpit.
"You want to cum. Wait. I said, wait."
Oh it was so hard. He was leaking precum like a faucet, Sooga smelled just how a man should, SOUNDED like a man should, and FUCK like a man should. Kohga was damn near to tears, wanting to just cum right on Sooga’s cock. Then, in an act of mercy, finally came, pouring his seed into his ass. Oh the way he moaned in his ear. Without shame, without his usual politeness. It was demanding, it was DOMINANT. The second Sooga was done, Kohga swore he saw stars as he too, came. Oh how his cock throbbed as he stained the sheets below. They sat there, panting, sweating messes of men. Sooga chuckled, pecking his cheek.
"Are you...alright-"
"I love you. Holy SHIT I love you."
Sooga damn near snorted, shaking his head.
"I love you too. You wish to stay there for a bit longer?"
"...please."
"Of course, Kohga. You stay there as long as you wish."
Sooga would give Traysi one thing. She definitely helped their change of perspective.

Desired Fate, Chapter 9
Read on FF.net
Read on AO3
Astor stood at what had been the entrance to the Yiga Hideout. Along the way, he’d passed piles of debris where there had once been a network of walls built along the canyon of Karusa Valley. The entrance itself, which had once been neatly cut into the rock, was now an angry burning hole. There wasn’t anyone in sight, the hideout was not only destroyed but desolate and abandoned.
The princess’s warning briefly crossed Astor’s thoughts. Astor’s blank expression changed into a haunting sneer, almost smiling in a deranged way.
Well played, Your Highness…. Only a minor setback… Although, I wonder if any of those banana worshiping degenerates are still alive...
Astor vanished and reappeared near his own hideout in the Gerudo Highlands. Some ways off he spotted two familiar silhouettes sitting on the edge of the canyon. Of course, the two most useless members of the Yiga Clan had retreated, the prophet mused.
Still, Astor approached the two apprehensively, knowing he was sure to get an earful.
Kohga and Sooga took notice as the Hylian neared, the two imposing figures being clearly irate as they stood.
“Why didn’t you tell us we’d get walloped? I would expect you to warn us that the Gerudo Chief is going to come trampling into our hideout to attack my men! Why were you conveniently missing today of all days?” Kohga shouted, exasperated.
Astor was smiling inside, where they can’t see it, but maintained a straight face.
Sooga was the one to approach Astor, towering over the much smaller man, and that's when Astor knew he’d overplayed his hand. He tensed as Sooga grabbed him by the collar of his robes and lifted him, Astor’s feet barely making contact with the ground.
“I’m afraid we cannot overlook this failure, ‘seer’.”
“Can’t do it!” Kohga chimed in.
Astor gave Sooga a dismissive smirk, already knowing what to say to retake control of the situation. “Fate decides all… Even this defeat. As you well know, if you decide to turn against me you will make an enemy of Calamity Ganon.”
“You slimy -” Kohga began, but before he could finish his sentence, Sooga’s fist collided with Astor’s face. The seer collapsed to the ground, looking up at Sooga in disbelief.
Kohga cheered, “Yeah! Knock his raggedy ass out! How dare he try to use our devotion to Lord Ganon against us. Thinks he’s chosen or something? You’re not special!”
Sooga leaned down, taking Astor by the collar again. Astor weakly held a hand out in an attempt to defend himself, but it was of little use against a man twice his size.
“The Yiga Clan has served Lord Ganon for nearly 10,000 years. You can’t turn Calamity Ganon against us, especially if we kill you first.” Sooga slammed Astor’s head against the ground, followed by a swift roundhouse kick in the ribs.
Astor gasped for air. The wind had been knocked out of him twice. He could barely breathe.
“You deserve whatever Lord Ganon has in store for you in the next realm...” Sooga drew one of his blades at his hip.
The prophet was in too much pain to move, let alone summon his orb.
“C-calamity Ganon... Avenge me…” Astor closed his eyes.
A blinding light consumed the three men and the two Yiga disappeared into puffs of smoke, scrolls featuring the inverted eye raining down in their retreat. Astor shielded himself from the light, lying prostrate on the ground, lacking the strength to rise and a little bit fearful of the presence he could sense was the antithesis of Calamity Ganon.
“Prophet of Doom, your fate is in my hands.” Hylia entreated him gently.
Astor remained very still. She came to stand in front of him, but still, he didn’t look up to meet her gaze. The goddess perceived his confusion and fear of her.
“You’re wondering why I’ve come… I’ve seen your ultimate fate, Prophet of Doom, and I know you will call out to me when confronted with the reality of Calamity Ganon’s betrayal. But it will be too late for you.  And, as proof that my words are true, already you are questioning why the Calamity would allow you to endure such humiliation.”
Astor finally answered the goddess, his voice weak and wavering with defeat. “Calamity Ganon is… going to betray me? That cannot be…” If he had any confidence left after being beaten down so horribly, then her words had ripped that away as well.
Hylia knew he believed her, but his denial and grief were so great. “Your gift of foresight is no match for mine.” The goddess reiterated.
“The grand fate I thought I had was all a lie…? Am I really just a nobody? Put me out of my misery then… I have no desire to continue an existence where I have no purpose.”
“You’re still a young man, Astor. You can still have a meaningful life.”
Astor scoffed trying to hide his tears. “The goddess is apparently dumb and blind. If Calamity Ganon is to betray me, then I have no reason to be...”
Hylia sensed his anger at her. She had revealed a truth he wasn’t ready to confront, but she knew it had to be said if he was to be saved from his terrible fate.
“I wouldn’t spare you just to leave you without a purpose.  I know all about you, Prophet of Doom. You’ve had unfortunate circumstances, but you are not inconsequential. You were a veiled birth. This was a sign of your gift, but it was viewed with suspicion, and you were abandoned. I willed that you be found. You grew up in an orphanage where you went unnoticed. They sent you away at 15 years of age. You managed to make a living with fortune-telling using a Sheikah relic you recovered. People would come to you with all sorts of questions that concerned important matters in their lives, people wanting to know the identity of their soulmate, a look at their unborn child, whatever they wanted to know could be seen in that orb. You were the same age my current descendant is now that you gathered the courage to look upon your own future. But there was nothing. You threw that orb across the room and wept. Your heart darkened and you turned to Calamity Ganon. You suffered much and you wanted to bring Hyrule to its knees. You invested yourself in serving the Calamity with such intensity it greatly diminished your desire for anything else. But, that’s what you wanted. Anything to not have to remember that you’d always be alone. You abandoned me long ago, but… even the princess’s faith in me hangs by a thread.”
Astor tensed at the mention of the princess, knowing the goddess could read him so easily, but there was nothing he could hide from her. It was all kind of amusing to Hylia.
“You… You’re the one that’s been meddling with my visions? Why are you doing this? Why would you bend fate itself to spare me? What’s wrong with you? Go mind that wretched girl who bears your blood and leave me be.”
“I’m helping her by helping you. You have the gift of prophecy, which my current descendant is sadly lacking as my lineage is weakening.”
“I’m well aware…” Astor said irritated. And then, fearful of what the goddess might read his thoughts he lashed out.  “Your lineage can rot… The only intention I have towards that girl is to ensure she never unlocks that awful power.” The prophet said, defensively.
A soft smile crossed the goddess’s lips as she knelt to whisper in his ear, and what she said frightened him so badly he, at last, gathered the strength to raise his voice and try to stand and confront her face to face, but Astor could only lift his head and raise an arm to try to summon his orb. “Hear me, Calamity Ganon, rain down your destruction on this… this…”
Hylia’s blue eyes regarded him with pity. The resemblance to the princess was uncanny, though the goddess’s appearance could only be described as otherworldly and ageless. She began to fade away. “There is no destruction, Astor. There is only…”
The goddess’s voice faded out as Astor finally lost all ability to remain conscious.
