Secret of the Mimic and The Story of Henry, William and Edwin

After having finished watching Dawko's playthrough of Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic, my first impression was that the game is awesome - basically what Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach was supposed to be - but there is also a huge issue with it, that being the lore.

There is a lot that I can talk about, like the fact that at the beginning of the game, it is made clear that SotM partially retcons Five Nights at Freddy's: Tales from the Pizzaplex, specifically The Storyteller from #5: The Bobbiedots Conclusion and The Mimic from #6: Nexie. I did some research, and while the initial impression was that it is canon to the main games, there was no direct confirmation coming from Scott Cawthon that they are canon. Still, the books confirm and/or explain the lore presented in the games, specifically Security Breach, meaning that, at best, TftPP is loosely tied to the games, albeit more actively than The Silver Eyes trilogy or Fazbear Frights.

That said, while I was dumbfounded by that retcon, I'm fine with it. They took a part of the story and made something grand out of it, not unlike Five Nights at Freddy's: Into The Pit.

No, what I actually want to focus on is the supposed implication of SotM seemingly ''retconning'' some long-established lore. I am here to offer my personal thoughts on the topic and how I interpret what we see in the game, so don't take anything I say for set in stone. I can still change my mind.

The lore I am talking about appears around the second half to the very end of the game, where we follow Arnold not only discovering the springlock suits but also what appear to be the prototypes of not only the Classic Animatronics from Five Nights at Freddy's, but also Fredbear and Spring Bonnie. We also discover several e-mails which establish that Edwin Murray knew Henry Emily and William Afton, and was even friends with the former (going by the fact that he calls Henry ''Hen'').

I have actually speculated in a conversation with a friend that Edwin might've known or was at least familiar with the co-founders of Fredbear's Family Diner and Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria since in TftPP, it was established that he was working for Fazbear Entertainment, and I am happy to get a confirmation.

But what baffled me, and probably many other people, is the implication that Henry and William didn't build Fredbear and Spring Bonnie nor the springlock suits (or any of the other characters we have known since the first game), and that Edwin was the one responsible for them. I suppose it could be described as a knee-jerk reaction because we still need to properly interpret this information in context of the story of the game, and while understandable, it doesn't feel less jarring.

As a matter of fact, after thinking about it, I have come to a understanding that there was no retcon in regards to Fredbear & Spring Bonnie and the springlock suits because of one simple point - the fact that Edwin was contracted by Fazbear Entertainment to work on their projects.

We know that Henry and William were brilliant engineers (it is confirmed directly that Henry built Lefty while William built the Funtime Animatronics and had his own robotics company) and every story about their past reinforces that they were the ones who built Fredbear's and Freddy's from ground up, came up with the Fredbear and Spring Bonnie animatronic and were directly involved in the creation of the springlock suits. Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes, while not canon to the main games but still gives us context for the story behind the first three games, drives the idea that it was always these two were responsible for the creation of the animatronics we know and love (or hate) and I sincerely doubt Scott Cawthon would tell Steel Wool Studios to retcon that. Even if he left it to them to develop a new game, that doesn't mean that he still isn't involved or has the final say in what is added to the game.

So, what is the deal with Edwin?

My personal interpretation is that, while Henry and William were the ones who created the Fredbear and Spring Bonnie we know and that they were also behind the springlock suits, they did also collaborate with Edwin, either directly (which I believe to be the case with Henry) or as a representative of Fazbear Entertaiment using their shady business practices (which would obviously be William). The fact that Edwin seemed to be close to Henry and was under contract with Fazbear Entertainment makes it possible that ideas were exchanged (or stolen, as Edwin puts it). We know that the Spring Bonnie suit William used was extremely unsafe, while Edwin's springlock suits seemed to be water-resistant, which leads me to the belief that while Henry and William came up with the springlock suits and built their own variants, they and/or Fazbear Entertainment possibly comissioned Edwin to perfect them and/or mass produce them. Same goes for the Classic Animatronics.

I am sure I am missing a lot of details, since this is information I got from watching Dawko's playthrough and that more information will eventually surface, so feel free to correct me. Nevertheless, it would be baffling to remove Henry and William's involvement in the creation of the animatronics/springlock suits since that is something fundamental to the story of FNaF.

Captain Springlock, a springlock animatronic suit character. Guess who's in his crew?

Foxy the Pirate! Apparently, I was wrong about Roxy pre-dating him. They're the same age! He's called Puppet Foxy here. Foxy is Captain Springlock's first mate. They have a bunch of other puppets as crew members, including Kit the fox kit, Bawson the Badger, Renard the cook, and Puppet Roxy.

Just a random character. This is the most depressed caterpillar I have ever seen. Is he sad because he'll never be a butterfly?

Crazy ideas time!

Self-Aware! BSD AU x FNAF Crossover

Guiding Light have a friend, who are a robotic engineer. GL talk to them daily and discuss anime and manga sometimes. So Friend knew about BSD Mayoi.

One day, friend noticed, how strange GL's Mayoi game looks like. They did some research and came to a conclusion about Characters being Self-Aware.

Friend came up with a plan. Their animatronics aren't popular. They can create a beautiful robot, but can't make the simplest AI.

"Friend" arranged a robbery. GL's phone and every bit of official BSD Media (disks with anime, manga, light novels) were stolen.

In their world, BSD Cast is livid, they try to speed up creation of the portal, to get to GL. When, suddenly, their world faded.

BSD Cast woke up in the Real World. But, all of them are animatronics.

"Friend" dissemble Reader's manga/novels, to "bind" each character to their animatronic counterpart.

Now they are forced to work as entertainments in a giant Plex for kids.

BSD Cast can't leave their animatronic bodies. The only way, they can do it, if GL repair manga and novels, to "recreate" BSD World again. The problems?

1. GL are prohibited from staying too close to animatronics, they are constantly watched, if they go to the Plex. They can't safe anyone during the day.

2. "Friend" hired thugs to guard the Plex at night. They have orders to stop GL from saving BSD Cast.

3. BSD Animatronics don't have all pages in them, most of the pages are hidden in "Friend" office.

One day, GL learned about BSD Cast's trouble. They sneak into the Plex at night, trying to help BSD Cast to gain their freedom.

It won't be easy.

In a nutshell: Security Breach with BSD Cast as animatronics (Glamrock Freddies), GL as Gregory and security as Vanny.

Inspired by: Dawko's Security Breach videos and a thought, that Nikolai give me Sun/Moon vibes.

I'm FREAKING OUT watching Dawko's Secret of the Mimic preview. I've got really bad resident evil brainrot right now and so I'm just gonna drop some first impressions off the bat:

- hiding from the mimic amongst other costumes is INCREDIBLE level design. Makes it 10x scarier when you're mistaking empty costumes for the murderous robot.

- the lore drops in the first like 25 minutes of gameplay is INSANE. Roxy's cowboy hat (please I beg can we get cowboy Roxanne wolf official art I will die), our character = Arnold, Hand Unit is a human.

- it seems like a lot of backtracking will be happening. VERY resident evil coded and I'm so happy about it. Seeing the potential paths and solving puzzles to progress. Forced to return to floors you know a monster is patrolling. IMPECCABLE design it really feels like a horror game.

After listening to Paranormal Powerhouse over and over, I went back to Bolts4Brains and realized over overmixed it was.

So I'm redoing all of it lol.

Dw, it's not gonna be drastically different, just better composed, because I'm not juggling WAV files from Deflemask with Midi files on my DAW, on top of my vocal recordings.

Speaking of vocals, here's a few I just redid.

You might notice I have a thing for singing in chunky chords like it's the 40s, and sometimes with a silly voice.

NO ONE SINGS LIKE THAT ANYMORE!! CHORDS ADD DEPTH, AND SILLY VOICE ADDS CHARACTER!!! ALL THEY DO NOW IS JUST AUTOTUNE EVERYTHING AND MAYHAPS ADD A HARMONY! AND BY 'THEY' I JUST MEAN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IN GENERAL LOL.

Icr if I posted these here either, but these are the Funtime Victims for my canon. (It's not an AU if every Fnaf experience is personalized.)

I don't care how much evidence suggests Molten MCI, Funtime Victims is a narratively better move imo. I could MAYBE settle for Motlen DCI, but not MCI. It just takes away from the individuality from the characters. Both the robots and ghosts. There's a lot of room for psychological/emotional complexity with just the tronics, (not just the Glamrocks,) and the way I've seen it, Molten MCI portrays them more like caged animals. Like the fusion experiments from Steven Universe. (Shshsh about the Puppet line) But I'm also a fnaf veteran who grew up with "Springtrap and Mangle," Tony Crynights animations, Rebornica comic dubs, Bonnie got no iPhone, ect. We don't talk about Springtrap and Deliah.

Oh. My. God. THAT MOVIE WAS SO INTENSE. THERES SO MUCH THAT I CANNOT PROCESS, I AM GOING TO TALK ABOUT ALL THE NEW SCENES THAT WERE IN IT BECAUSE I WILL EXPLODE.

SO FIRST OFF

-DAWKO HAD A CAMEO IN IT.

HE WAS ON A PHONE CALL WITH MATPAT AND THEN IN THE CREDITS WAS CREDITED AS "Mr. MadPad" LIKE WHAT!?!??! I WAS REALLY HOPING DAWKO WOULD BE IN IT SOMEHOW BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS TOO WILD BUT THERE HE WAS.

-DHEUSTA AT THE BEGINNING AS WILLIAM AFTON He finds this kid hiding in the backrooms or something and I'm not quite sure what that was about but I think it's connected to the story in Virus anyway HE GETS EITHER KILLED OR BEATEN UP BY MATPAT (HENRY EMILY...? SCOTT CAWTHON...?) Think he got killed but IT WAS CRAZY

-WEB OF LIES GOT REMADE WITH THE CURRENT LIZZY ACTOR

-GPU ACCELERATION THE BEST CHARACTER IN DARK REMAINS!! (It was an error)

-then we had Media Offline in Shadows of Agony (another error)

-OK SO THEN AFTER VIRUS THAT'S WHEN IT ALL GETS EVEN MORE INTENSE

-CIRCUS BABY RUNS OVER GLITCHTRAP WITH THE CAR (ACCIDENTAL) and this disables MatPat's bomb so then Lizzy finishes the job of killing Glitchtrap by using the drill HOWEVER this makes loads of sparks which triggers PTSD in Circus Baby so she gets out of the car and attacks Lizzy

-the animatronics beg her to stop and she doesn't so Lizzy has no choice but to attack Circus Baby and IT. WAS. SO GOREY???

-TLT I can't fix you ref

-the animatronics and Lizzy are about to leave and ditch the restaurant and the animatronics make it out but then Glitchtrap momentarily comes back to life and sends electricity throughout the place which REACTIVATES THE BOMB

it ALL EXPLODES. Was not good for my pyrophobic soul but I just looked away I'm okay cus it was fake so nobody really got hurt

BUT IT WAS SO FUCKING SAAAAD CUS THEN FREDDY CALLS NATE (WANTSTOBATTLE) AND IS SOBBING ON THE PHONE SAYING HE'S THE ONLY ONE THEY HAVE :((

Anyway then we see MatPat watching the news about the restaurant exploding and TURNS OUT HE HAS ROBOT HANDS LIKE WOAH But like that makes sense obviously

then it goes to him in the works of opening the new restaurant and we see him interviewing AJ and Nate

ANYWAY IT WAS SUCH A GOOD MOVIE I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE FULLY FINISHED ONE TOMORROW SO MY FNAF THE MUSICAL FRIENDS CAN WATCH CUS THEY'RE ALL ASLEEP/BUSY RN AND THE WATCH PARTY ISN'T BEING ARCHIVED 😓😓

thinking about the dawkegos in the context of poppy playtime. dawktrap and panic would be the only humans, working as employees.

of course panic is head of security, but he's a factory guard, not for the prisons. poor thing would be traumatized. from all the bigger bodies

dawktrap is pretty much what leith pierre is. on the surface he's a decent employee, but underneath that, he's done some awful things in regards to the orphans, experiments and toys.

as far as the others, they're completely toys.

poopet is a mix of a jack in the box and marionette puppet. i like to think he hangs around playcare and has a mode on his box where he can play lullabies to help the kids sleep. i imagine for the ones who have a harder time, he and catnap team up to use his red smoke and poopet as a gitd type of nightlight. as a bigger body, he takes on nightmarionne traits

i imagine showtime dawko is either a pullstring doll like woody, or basically his makeship plushie, having a voicebox where he can sing an assortment of songs.

glamrock dawko has two toy variants like doey. having both a boogie bot dancing robot toy and a barbie-like doll that comes with things like his guitar, a hairbrush, and other things associated with glamdawk. his bigger body form is the robot variant, basically an animatronic at that point.

for funsies, darko is pretty much harley sawyer. just an all around awful person. and mabel is pj pugapillar, but without the caterpillar parts and is a dachshund instead, but still as fluffy as soft as ever

There's a moment from Dawko's recent vlog on the FNAF Movie set I'd like to talk about

In the moment where the 4 of them are meeting the actors dressed up in the animatronic costumes, Bonnie makes a gesture that is clearly asking for a hug, and they all wonder if it's really ok to give him a hug. After they ask him if he wants a hug, he continues to gesture, but they still feel like they need to ask someone else overseeing the visit.

Obviously it's a movie set and these are incredibly expensive costumes, no one wants to overstep their boundaries or accidentally break something.

But these actors have surly been given a lot of instructions on what they can and cannot do in the costumes, Bonnie wouldn't have reached out for a hug if it wasn't ok for them to touch the suits.

My theory is that these costumes sold the illusion of FNAF so well that even though everyone knows these are professionals in costumes, on a movie set, that for a brief moment they felt like they had to ask someone else if it's ok to touch them because, these robots don't know they are delicate props on a movie set, they are just doing what they always do during daytime hours at Freddy's

I might be extrapolating a lot here but these costumes, and the actors inhabiting them, are so expressive and filled with character, it's hard to not get sucked into it.

Okay so I’m pretty sure it’s based off this one interview Dawko did with PJ Heywood (Bill’s VA) where Dawko joked that William could spend his resources making flying cars instead of murderous party robots after PJ lamented the lack of them in the modern day.

It led to the idea of flying cars that kill kids and a flying car with a Funtime Freddy in it so it’s basically cannon that Will fantasises about being the jetsons IRL

So like in the new Freddy in Space William in flying car is an enemy now.

If we are staying in the world of Wednesday: Tyrell Galpin being the biological son of the Hannigram.

If we are shoving the characters into the other worlds: Wednesday being a 14yo with a doctorate, taking over the mental hospital from her father, Dr. Frederick Chilton. (still being the morbid curious girl with limited empathy)

If we move to my favorite The Collector Series

I've already talked about this before but i would absolutely love for the Heart Eyes Killer (HEK) being best friends or at least Profesor colleagues with Asa Emory. I feel like they could truly understand each other.

I also sometimes imagine how funny it would be for Arkin to get away only to get assigned psychiatrist by the police and it turned out to be Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The poor luck on this guy, honestly.

I also toyed with the idea of Frederick Chilton being the son of the Collectkin. Which would explain why he was so into Will Graham and Murder Husbands. I have a headcanon that Asa taught him taxidermy and Frederick secretly enjoys the Cheasapeak Ripper murders.

My newest addiction Final Destination

I absolutely am erasing the Canon. That never happened. I nearly cried because I was so pissed off.

I decided that I want to put Erik into other Fandoms and I've actually had a long discussion with Dar-Dar about which one.

No offense, but he's just not smart enough for the Hannibal, he's sarcastic and rude. He wouldn't possibly survive a day.

I would maybe put him as an influencer to the whole 'Message to Scott Cawhton' Universe, as an additional character against Darko. That could be fun!

Or as the next Collector's Victim.

There's also Mr Robot

I often think about Tyrell Wellick being best friends of Dr. Chilton. For some reason I think that they would understand each other and be able to unravel and relax.

I also choose to ignore Canon situation and I believe he actually moved to Duskwood, and that's what happened in the Game. The whole game is just Tyrell Wellick being the bisexual disaster icon he is. I just want him to have a happy ending.

Who also deserves a better happy ending is Dr. Chilton himself from Hannibal

That's why I sometimes imagine that he was married for the last few years and never told anyone. His husband would be Michael Schmidt from the Fnaf Movie. Chilton would be so curious about his dreams and about Abby. And Michael would take absolutely no shit from the Doctor. They would be such a baddass couple.

I almost forgot about Mafia!

Now, I have said so before, but I don't nessessarily see the people behind the camera when writing such content. Since, I feel like it's obvious that there's a different between (an example) 'Dawko' and 'Lewis Dawkins'. I feel like youtubers put on a persona, just like Anti is. When writing a youtuber fanfiction, you're not really writing about Real People, but mostly about their characters that they created for the camera.

At least, that's how it works for me. I've had a lot of thoughts about this since I've already gotten into some arguments about writing about them.

I've already written a few chapters of the Mafia rewrite and I am still so happy about it, when I have more time I want to go back to it. Since I feel like that is a great universe for them.

Funny enough despite Bonnie being Mike's favorite animatronic, twice now Mike is being associated with Freddy. It's the animatronic Cody picked to turn him into, and now he's wearing a Freddy jacket.

Those who know the game over sequence for FNAF 1 would know: Mike Schmidt is stuffed inside of a Freddy Fazbear suit. So these COULD just be cheeky nods to that. ;)

Ironic how Michael is cuddling the plush of an animatronic his brother got his head crushed by/is trapped inside. This is the second time he's doing it but he actually switched plushies as the one he was hugging earlier was a bit more scuffed looking. This one is obviously meant to be Fredbear from the purple hat while the one he was hugging earlier had a black hat and a contorted face.

Mike is obviously hugging a Bonnie plush. it's coloration is off from the Bonnie plushies we've seen earlier so we can think this thing is either a prototype or perhaps another location's Bonnie.

Either way: Despite Michael being childish he's willing to share his plushies with Mike and let Mike hold his Bonnie plush. He wasn't lying when he said he'd try to make Mike feel welcomed.

Jeremy refuses to come to the house because William's off putting. Jeremy's a rather skittish person so that makes sense. Though again we get another instance to Michael and Jeremy Fitzgerald being pretty good friends.

This whole situation with the Talbert files and the Pinkypills thing made me realize how immature the fnaf fandom has become. Like I thought I felt something change by the time Security Breach came out, but it became glaringly obvious when the Scott Doxx happened a while ago.

As soon as that happened, people were more quick to be angry at Scott's decisions that should not be public in the first place, than at the person who leaked that info "for the lolz." Like okay I understand if you're concerned where your money's going after knowing that, but then that should be the case for all transactions ever.

Then, the "in regards to whether the books are canon or not, yes." And then people got mad at him for not answering directly, or it just went over their heads and now they think the books are canon. Like guys, he's a troll, that's how he always is.

And in 2023, we had all the Fanverse drama, and people getting way too heated over different theories.

The Movie hate I have a theory for.

If you were in the fandom around 2015/2016, you might remember how often fnaf got generalized 'for kids' online, or that a large portion of the fandom were kids, so therefore it was cringe. (This is at cringe culture's peak btw.) Years later, the "fnaf vhs horror" videos introduced a more mature portrayal than the source material. I don't have tiktok, but I imagine clips of these got reposted like crazy. This lead to fans that left a while ago and 'cringe haters' to be like "oOOh what did I miss?👀" They are now in a state of "SEE, FNAF ISNT FOR KIDS, SEE?? SEE???" Cringe denial. Then, when the movie came out, they had their expectations ramped up for a gore fest in a similar style, but failed to realize Fnaf was always campy with little to no gore. This is why the table fort scene is "so controversial." Then, some other people who liked the movie, just not that scene, were coping with, "THEYRE JUST KIDS" or "THEY TRYING TO TRICK ABBY INTO TRUSTING HER." The former is more believable, but you can easily just chalk it up to, "They're entertainer robots. They're built to have fun. The murdery is the twist."

Then VR2 happened, which like a bottle of soda pop, went flat really fast. We were still doing things in VR1 longer when that came out.

And now we're at our second drought. The first one was in 2017 before fnaf 6. And again, people are throwing a fit about Scott "defending" pinkypills, and not at the person pretending to be Scott. It's not as bad as the first time, but it's notable. Which by the way, the way he handles these types of situations is very serious and mature from any other content creator. However, I feel like he just doesn't know where to draw the "okay what in tarnation??" line, because he fired the other artist for doing the same things.

Overall, the fandom has become really whiney about every little thing recently. I think it's because from 2014-2016, we were very centered with fan-creativity, and now, since there is too much content to digest at once for newcomers, we have become very centered with theories and lil blues clues. It also doesn't help that there isn't any new content to dwell on, so we're all stuck with eachother.

Twice in Dawkos interview, Scott says something along the lines of no matter the lore, all he cares about is that is characters are enjoyed.

I rewatched the interview that heather masters did with dawko and how she viewed baby was a tragic character until dawko's mentioning that she is a killer robot but like heather's not wrong,if i was trapped in a bunker after a traumatic experience while being made to endure electric shocks to obey for presumably years i would go insane too.

i mean even the killer robot thing is like... she was literally programmed that way T o T i think shes 100% a tragic character, she was made by a murderer to carry out his sick shit and had no idea about it. then she accidentally kills the daughter of the murderer and has the child's own agony confusing her. then shes physically and mentally tortured by the murderer whenever she doesnt act "correctly". then she kills who she thinks is the murderer to escape the hell chamber she was trapped in. i think its funny (and telling) that dawko's rebuttal is "yea but killer robot" lmaoo like clearly nuanced character comprehension is beyond most gamers
