Rogue Trader - Act 3 - Heinrix, Yrilet and Marazhai versions (anat. opera)

I was playing through Commoragh again and noticed a change now after the recent patches compared to earlier.

They did correct the issue with having the companion selection popping up in the middle of Heinrix dialog

They also corrected the issue with missing portrait and wrong name for Heinrix that occured when you had both Yrilet and Marazhai present when he is freed

But, I am not sure if it is a bug or intended, there is dialog missing when you have both Yrilet and Marazhai present now.

I have put both the old and new version in a video, together with the current versions of only Marazhai or only Yrilet present.

The current versions for only Marazhai and only Yrilet present seem to be identical to the older versions, just with the bugs I mentioned above being fixed.

The old version basically goes like this:

Heinrix being freed -> recognizes Marazhai

Rogue Trader can say something (e.g. "I can explain")

Heinrix response

Marazhai dialog ("Insult me again...")

Then came the companion selector

Heinrix "You got to be kidding me..."

Rogue Trader dialog options

Heinrix response + end

The new version goes like this:

Heinrix being freed -> Remark that he forces his gaze away from the Drukhari (Marazhai I suppose but without further information that he looked or recognized him to begin with) and notices Yrilet "You must be joking..."

Rogue trader dialog options (same as before for Yrilet)

Heinrix response + end

Only Marazhai:

Heinrix being freed -> recognizes Marazhai

Rogue Trader dialog options (like the old version e.g. "I can explain...")

Heinrix response

Marazhai ("Insult me again..."

Heinrix response + end

Only Yrilet:

Heinrix being freed -> recognizes Yrilet "Am I hallucinating...."

Rogue Trader dialog options (like before for Yrilet)

Heinrix response + end

So basically in the new version it seems he had recognized Marazhai but it isn't really mentioned and Marazhai has no dialog anymore.

I did have a look in toybox and they seem to check if Marazhai is present:

That‘s it, that‘s Act3, the realest tourist trap experience. Somehow a doodle of trying to figure out Yrliet‘s facial proportions turned into this, don‘t ask me how-

Nobody asked but here’s a WIP for your viewing pleasure/peer review:

Ana found Heinrix in the Pit a short while later, just where he said he would be. Considering his condition when she found him, a heavy sense of dread had built at the pit of her stomach. What if he didn’t make it there? Should she have been more insistent that he come with them instead of going off on his own in such a vulnerable state? But the Interrogator was a stubborn man and an argument would have been unavoidable.

As she drew close to him, she could feel a slight chill in the air and a tingling at the back of her neck that told her he must’ve been healing himself from his tortures.

At the sound of her approach, he looked up at her with eyes much clearer than he had when she had first found him.

“You came…..” he sounded exhausted and she felt something in her chest ache.

“I did indeed. And you are here as well.” It was hard to hide the relief in her voice.

Playing through the prologue of Rogue Trader for a second time and it really is a mark of good writing that little lines of dialogue you didn't think too hard about the first time take on a whole new meaning because now you have Context

Rogue Trader - Act 3 - Heinrix + Achilleas/underlings spoiler

I am sorry, you did what?

This is the dialog you get at the beginning of act 3 if you follow the main quest and have Yrilet recruited (she is mandatory for this quest).

I mean, sure, he is an interrogator and primary torture specialist but the way he was caring about Achilleas (and in general we know he has a good/merciful heart) I actually thought he would treat (all of) "his" people good. One acolyte you can talk to later even says he was always such a "sentimental sweetheart" and "attached to his colleagues".

If you ask him about a gift for Jae he will give you advice and mentions how important such demonstrations are when you are dealing with informants.

Then again, later in act 3 (if you recruit Marazhai) you can find out that Achilleas was afraid of Heinrix but I don't think Heinrix has tortured him, he also speaks about him as agent and not underling.

Achilleas even knew a different acolyte (Emelina Lichtenhart) and was apparently (you get it from the same dialog as the one just mentioned) very fond of her.

The "underlings" are put in quotation marks so maybe he does not mean his spies/agents but xenos/traitors/cultists he tortures to get information, but it is an odd word to use here for this then.

So... I guess this is part of the reason why Heinrix if romanced will often say you are too generous and merciful to him.

AND ACTUALLY, YOU KNOW WHAT, BEFORE I POWER NAP. i’m so happy our 2nd mlm rep is a sweet masculine man who wants to be held and protected, but also to protect you. i love that he’s a big romantic at heart but also starts out going “i thought this was just a one time thing?” when you spend the night with him. i love that he is duty bound to protecting the imperium and it’s citizens and that absolutely includes you. i love that he respects you for treating both his and other animals right, even letting wild ones be wild, despite having bashed in several humans foreheads 20 mins ago. i love how he thinks “unwind” is code word for an attack and bursts into your bathroom in a panic. i like that his story is focused on him and not just his dog, but his dog is still important to him and understanding him as a character. i love that he is unflinchingly honest about so many things, from his love for you to his abilities (and lack thereof) to his views on the emperor to his struggles with shame and attachment.
