the thing is. aurora is not wrong at all about any of this, this one is probably some of the best monologue in the game, this "people are the most easily replenished of all resources" is the main theme of the game, you, the rogue trader, will in the end just be delivered to the voidship crypt and another will take your place and the voidship will continue its millenia old journey regardless. but then we just go back to aurora burning people's eyes out
#this is a follow-up on my last reblog#(meme about the trope where a character challenging the status quo is turned into some crazy super evil murderer for no reason and the hero#must kill them and the victory is when the hero has successfully protected the status quo)#warhammer 40k rogue trader#wh40k rogue trader#rogue trader#rogue trader aurora#wh40k critical#rogue trader critical#well i do think rt the game tries to interact with this lore with awareness but there's only so much you can do without contradicting#the general principle of the lore where opposing the established order makes you possessed by the devil LITERALLY#rt does show you time and again that it's just innocent people suffering that are pronounced heretics#and that it's the very law of the imperium that provokes it#buuut all those imperium fans on reddit that love to hand over idira or yrliet or m to the inquisition are not here by accident either#they still get the justification they want for a power fantasy in which the oppressed are actually dangerous and deserve to be oppressed#it reminds me of dragon age a lot

Lynette von Valancius (aka Rogue Trader) *rushing towards Aurora and a crazy sniper on the roof*: Taking calculated risk is my second nature!
Heinrix van Calox: *deep sigh*
#Abelard: *sighs in agreement*#and they both have to shield her of course#ok i was surprised when lynette didn't only survive a couple of aurora's attacks directly but stayed alive till the end of the battle#and made a great contribution to the victory#as well as heinrix and abelard (who says heinrix is weak? Not even close!)#either i'm better at character leveling in RT now or i cheat but have no idea how i do that#because first lynette used to die first#now she rushes into battles and very effective against all kinds of enemieswith her sniper rifle#ok probably i got used to this difficulty level and need to increase the difficulty#btw it can be incredibly amusing to hear characters shouting or saying smth especially during the battles#appreciate that in games#sorry to say but cassia killed argenta by mistake and then was killed by that crazy sniper from one shot!#i still need some room for improvement in tactics in this game#rogue trader#warhammer 40k rogue trader#heinrix van calox#von valancius#oc: lynette von valancius#random thoughts#thoughts during my playthrough#finished chapter 1 and can't believe it#hope i didn't miss anything interesting..

The winners garden
This was inspired by my emerald rogue run (the old one), with my pidgeot whom I have named Victory after the run ended (or caught a pidgey in the safari and pretended it was her)
This'll be long because it affected me that much. I didn't expect to win this run- I thought I was a goner after Wallace. I swear this run felt like a movie sequence because my god it felt so climactic (to me)
Victory was a random pidgey I caught at before the first or second gym, and I was originally going to trade her off but I just felt like I lacked flying types. Eventually, I thought she was actually a really valuable member and kept her in. It also helped alot that the pidgeotite appeared the next time I got into the battle stop store, so it felt right keeping her around-
My team had a latios, thunderus, sylveon (who died but I managed to get him back because of the random lab encounter, thank god it was just a species curse), serperior, dracovish and mega pidgeot. Pidgeot with hurricane spam is so good I kept her around even more
It was a really solid team until I accidentally stumbled into a trainer battle while getting an item, and due to an unlucky crit, my latios goes down
At this point, I got mad because "AH, MY BEST TEAM MEMBER". He had a choice specs on and his job was to spam, but unfortunately, his psychic didn't kill the mega kanghaskan we encountered. It was unfortunate, I didn't level up because I thought I could avoid the trainer, but oh well
Caught a random alolan ninetales that did good aurora veil blizzard (after buying an ability patch) and I thought she'd be fine and for awhile, it was
Until I reached the champion. Wallace killed 3 of my team members, down went my serperior, my newly caught alolan ninetales, and my dracovish. And there was also an unskippable trainer when I moved on to the next route which killed my sylveon, leaving me with only my thunderus and my dear pidgeot
Remember the species clause I said earlier? That thing screwed me over when it only had 3 available pokemon (and worse, it was a water route so the surf point also had staryu, maybe I was just impatient and maybe another mon is in the surf point idk). I caught a starmie, a toxapex and a jellicent in that route. With the species clause active, I was handicapped to fight the REAL champion. I only had 5 pokemon instead of 6
The last poke stop. The trader was there, so I took a gamble with him and traded my starmie. And what came out of it felt right- It was a victini. At this point, I was giggling to myself like "I might win" because of victinis dex entry and such, about how it being with you is basically a guaranteed victory.
After I prepared my team to the best that I could and with some small confidence growing, I pressed on.
At this point, I only remember the pidgeot battle so I'm just trying to remember here and I'm probably wrong in some details
Red was the final champion and my victini took the lead. Victini died first, he was scarfed and spammed bolt strike until he MISSED. But it was still good enough, it was now a fair 4v4. Jellicent didn't have much, but he had will o wisp, which helped alot. He wasn't trained as well as the others so he was frailer than he was supposed to be, but he weakened one pokemon enough for thunderbolt range and died. 3v4 now
Thunderus tbolt, he goes down. Thunderus had a z crystal and it one shotted I forgot who immediately after.
It's now a 2v2
Terrakion. Easy enough for toxapex to take down (and spam recover)
2v1
Final pokemon was a giratina. Shadow force. Didnt want to switch out because tox was in good health and I wanted to knock off, but it critted and tox was lower than anticipated. Knock off did alright damage and I was sure it was a clear 2 hit ko if pidgeot lived. One outrage and tox was down
1v1.
My pidgeot, the pidgeot who's been with me since the start, the pidegot that I was going to trade away, the pidgeot that I doubted. From a little helpless pidgey to now facing Satan head on
She megas and hits her first hurricane but it doesn't kill and an outrage hits her and SHE BARELY LIVED. SHE WAS CLINGING FOR HER LIFE. AND THERE I KNEW, I KNEW I WON. ONE LAST HURRICANE AND DOWN GOES GIRATINA, AND MY SOLE SURVIVOR WON ME EVERYTHING!
IT FELT SO PERFECT. THE SPECIES CLAUSE, THE VICTINI, THE TOXAPEX, THE STRESS I BUILT, THE IMPORTANT POKEMON DYING JUST BEFORE RED, THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP TAKING DOWN POKEMON SATAN, IT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE MUCH VISUALLY AND SOME PEOPLE WOULD PROBABLY THINK IT'S CHILDISH, BUT I IMAGINED MY PIDGEOT ABSOLUTELY LOOKING COOL AND GOING HAM ON THAT FINAL BATTLE. THE FINAL BATTLE WAS COOL IN MY HEAD OKAY
After we won, I caught a female pidgey on the safari zone and named her Victory. It's the same pidgeot now pidgey that in my heart. And that's literally why I made this drawing. And also I significantly love pidgeot more now. I would also make an essay about my thought process when making this, but I think this tumblr blog is long enough (it was so corny ngl). Too bad I can’t bring her over but the newer game is fun too
I'm sorry this was long guys, I enjoyed talking about this way too much ahshsh

if you could make any overworld/combat voice lines for noahn or hainne to say in rogue trader what would they say? so stuff like getting hit, taking damage, killing an enemy, using a medkit, getting healed etc. these are just possible prompts btw you don't have to write stuff for all of them lol.
Well to introduce them in combat, Noahn is an officer + biomancer (to the point they're overspecialized. they're much more efficient and faster than heinrix but they don't have another discipline mastered). They alter their body and others to be much more resilient, improve their senses and heal injuries faster so, for themself, showing pain is something they consider an embarassment but they are strict with the emotions they show. When things are going seriously wrong they cross that line though. In the field they're giving orders wherever it is necessary, noticing things others didn't and helping them achieve their goals.
Hainne used to be a jack-of-all-trades with all their augmentics... but Noahn took them off when they made Hainne younger when they reunited (only Voigtvir and Mort knew so they never bring it up. everyone thinks Hainne is just a younger sibling with no blood relation to Theodora). So now they're an operative that starts as a sniper keeping their distance from the team (bounty hunter or assassin works well for them). they keep a chainsword in their belt but later it becomes a hekatarii blade (due to a certain stick insect's bad influence).
So! here are some of their lines:
Low health Noahn - [Pained laughter] Awake... stay awake... - [Hacking an entire lung, retching noises] Focus... - Silence. Hainne - [Coughs] Come closer next time! - Ha... what a dance. Killing an enemy Noahn - Back to the shadows! - Mine! - [Only on low health] Back to the shame. Hainne - [Laughter followed by a satisfied sigh] - You ought to crawl! - What do you think? Would their head look good on the bridge's walls? No?
Using medkit Noahn - You were wrong here, here, and here. Better? - Nothing that can't be solved. - See? No one's ever beyond helping! Hainne - Be still. - Am I the only one able to do this? Seriously? - I am not taking responsibility for the results.
Being healed by others Noahn - Ha! You think you could do a better job than me? It will do, for now. - Oh, you caught it before me. Impressive. - [disgruntled sigh] Let's just keep up appearances. Hainne - What. Are. You. Doing. - [Scathing voice] Appreciated. - [If it's Noahn healing] Finally.
Ally falls Noahn - [Angrily] Learn from them. - [Sharp inhaling] That's not how you were supposed to do it. - No, no, no... hold on!! Hainne - You're leaning too much on me. - We're not finishing together? Fine by me. - [Sarcastic] You don't see that often.
Fighting certain enemies Noahn - [fighting Aurora] A Word Bearer! How did I knew that? Can't you hear it? Her body sings with every move. - [fighting daemons] They tell you not to think of them, not to hear them... They'll come to you regardless. Hainne - [fighting Aurora] We had better odds looking for an entirely different starport than fighting this thing. But it already took notice of us so- nice knowing you. - [fighting genestealers] They all look the same, they smell the same, they act the same. Ah, memories! - [fighting necrons] Don't touch anything else. It will probably come back for us twice over.

Warhammer/Horus Heresy Kinktober 2024
Day 29: Astra Militarum/Imperial Saints/Glad-To-Be-Alive Sex
Summary: Me, the first time I got to that point in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader: "NO THE FUCK WE AIN'T FIGHTING A GODDAMN SPACE MARINE! LET ALONE A WORD BEARER!!!"
Had no idea what I was going to do with the Imperial Saints part, so I focused on the Militarum aspect and the glad to be alive sex aspect. Introducing Alex Beucad, my ex-Guardsman Rogue Trader with his daddy Abelard. Not too heavily sex based, but it's cute (I at least think its cute)
Alex watches as Aurora, the REAL Aurora, the heretical Space Marine, collapses in deadly defeat. Body unmoving, fires roaring around them as the corrupted sky shone a warping purple. Alex could hear his heart hammer in his chest, his breathing heavily labored no thanks to the injuries he had sustained in the death-defying battle against...By the Emperor, they killed a Space Marine...BY HOLY TERRA, THEY ACTUALLY KILLED A SPACE MARINE! Alex almost couldn't rip his eyes away from the body, if not for Abelard quickly approaching him and grabbing the young Lord Captain by his wrist.
"Lord Captain," Abelard huffs, just as heavily injured, if not moreso as he had to brave going face to face with the giant behemoth. "We have to go, now!"
Alex was startled back to reality by Abelards' sudden touch, green-hazel eyes meeting the old Navy Officer's dark brown. The world seemed to slow down, Abelard had slowed down. Alex could see the aged story across Abelard's face, the honored scars, both old and new. The way his face stretched to gradually reveal the growing concern and immediacy of both their situation and for him. His scarred, blood-filled lips opening and closing. It was about this time that Alex felt his body forcefully move as Abelard pulled him towards the nearest shuttle.
-
Alex sat on his throne as they jumped away from Rykad Minors. He saved what he could and appeased the Tech-Priests and their insistence on docking the reactor. He stared at the crew rushing from one task to the other, somewhat ignoring the reports from the Vox Master of the goings-on on his ship. His eyes trailed towards Abelard, his trusted confidant, as he started taking the reigns of the conversation, sensing Alex's disinterest.
"I've heard enough..." Alex waved his hand dismissively, trying to shoo Vigdis away while he pinched the bridge of his nose.
"...Lord Captain...If given permission to speak," Abelard is quietly cautious as he side-eyes Alex.
Alex doesn't say anything but meets his gaze regardless.
"...You've been up for 48 hours, Lord Captain. As you may know, the ship can't function if their protector and leader can't function with it."
Alex sighs, slumping further back into his chair, "Can't sleep."
"I'm aware of that, my Lord. But have you at least tried?"
A long road of silence stretches between them. Alex turns to Abelard, his weariness becoming increasingly apparent as the coffee and energy stims wear off. "My personal quarters. Now."
-
Alex lazily traces the veins of Abelard's cock as he nuzzled closer to his Seneschal. Despite his early restlessness, being close to the hairy body of his advisor serves as a more potent adrenaline shot than any liquid speed. Abelard sighs as he, just as languidly, pushes his meaty fingers deeper into Alex. They both enjoyed the silence, the still air between them. Alex places a small peck on his Seneschal's neck, humming as Abelard explores the deepest parts of his Captain.
"...We killed the fuck out of that Space Marine," Alex mutters.
Abelard eyes Alex, his heart jumping when he notices that he was smiling. "It was...An unexpected encounter. One I did not think, Emperor preserving, would ever happen in my lifetime."
Abelard is startled to a frozen state as Alex begins laughing, pulling Abelard in a crushing (at least to Alex's standards) hug as he wraps his legs around his advisor. "We fought an Emperor damn Space Marine, Abelard! And lived! Have you ever heard of anyone fighting AND KILLING A PIECE OF GROX-SHIT SPACE MARINE!?!"
Abelard was old, he couldn't match the enthusiasm of the younger man, but with that aura of excitement and joy, he couldn't help but allow his heart to flutter and pull Alex deeper into the hug. He listens to his Lord Captain express the fear, the thrill, and the urgency he felt during the encounter.

Here's the Kinktober lists for anyone who wants to partake! Let's be extra horny this lovely October

Rogue Trader - Act 1 - Idira prophecies about companions - spoilers
If you speak with Idira in Act 1 and ask about your future she will give you 4 prophecies.
Prophecy about the child - Cassia
2. Prophecy about the red-robed sage - Pasqal
3. Prophecy about prison - not about a companion but I think the prison in the Rykad system and Evayne Winterscale perhaps?
4. Prophecy about chained hound - Heinrix
He is looking for the cult/ Aurora and we find him in the electro… cenobium … (where the tech priests are). True lord/chain might be referring to the inquisition/Xavier?

I'm about 22 hours into Rogue Trader and I still only have the barest sketch of who Ana-Dimitri "von Valancius" is (factoid #1: she obviously thinks "von Valancius" is the most insufferably pretentious name ever invented, and she's right), which is driving me insane. The worldbuilding so far has been so Imperium-focused and my own character so Immaterium-focused that I've really had no chance. I know Anadima's multiversal lineage follows that of Adrian Shepard and Noah Kingfisher in that she is a product of eldritch engineering with a godmod-level charisma score. (It's so funny to hear Aurora et al talk about how "chosen" they are and how Anadima ain't shit in comparison to the forces they command and blah blah blah and she's just like 🤭 "okay". You'll see. You'll all see--) I know she takes much interest (😏) in Idira and Jae and Cassia (and later Marazhai, I'm sure), and would shove Abelard and Heinrix out of an airlock if she could get away with it. I'm pretty sure she has more than one form and you can see the other one if 1) she invites you to her chambers (😏) or 2) you look at her during a particularly gnarly Warp jump. I'm willing to believe the von Valancius empire is actually also a product of eldritch engineering. I had the misfortune of doing my Mayfair Witches reread during the same time I am playing this so now I have some very interesting wire-crossing happening.
Also, I keep thinking of the Omnissiah as Sotha Sil and you know what, fuck it, I'm just going to lean into it.
#meanwhile in the warp#.anadima#rogue trader#i know at some point something pivotal is going to happen in game and anadima lore is gonna start coming together REAL FAST#that's how it happens a lot of the time#but the WAITINGGGGGG -___-

I feel like there's some deep irony that noahn is absolutely scared of khorne worshippers and the first thing they do is (spoilers ch 4)
Begin the process of repair by taking over the resources of a khornite rogue trader lmao. They can thank Aurora and Yremeryss that the entire Rykard system was lost or else they'd immediately lost what little good grace Calligos has for them if he had known about all they took from him before fucking off to piss on incendia's parade instead.

Name: [REDACTED]
Alias: Byzant, Decimus Tiberius
D.o.B: [REDACTED]
Rank: Lord Inquisitor
Specialisation: Slaugth (including their constructs and [REDACTED])

Summarisation of experience [gathered over interviews performed by both the Ordo Chronos and Ordo Xenos]
A former remembrancer, specialisation in pict-capture, of the Great Crusade, Decimus was born of Holy Terra in the early years of the Great Crusade.
It was in his mid-20s that his skills with pict-capture was noticed by the Imperial Remembrancer Order and sent out with the [REDACTED] 617th Expeditionary Fleet. Taking numerous images of compliance, victory and life in the Expeditionary Fleets [Said images were confiscated by Ordo Chronos, due to said images containing sensitive information].
It was 871.M30 when the ship, [REDACTED] (Now called the Aurora, a Dictatus-class Grand Cruiser assigned to Rogue Trader Vigalatus), entered the warp for the last time with the 617th Expeditionary Fleet. They had been assigned to the what is now called the First Rangdan Xenocide, the fleet was enter and attack one of the worlds captured by this species, as they had done previously.
Decimus had been injured, severely, in a prior engagement with these Xenos but did not divulge information regarding the events that happened only to say that this is where he had extensive bionics had come from. But he did state that he was documenting the atrocities committed by the Rangdan as well as the high levels of destruction done by the Legionnaires in driving this foe from the worlds.
From what we gather, all biological life had to be expunged lest a corruption spread [Ordo Xenos adepts theorise a form of contagion spread on a microscopic level that was engineered by the Slaugth].
As their journey through the warp started, the ship was separated from the rest of the fleet and, what felt like a day to him, was over ten thousand years in real-time when the ship emerged.
The Ordo Chronos had be[REDACTED]. The Astartes of the [REDACTED] on board the ship were [REDACTED], which is unknown to the crew. The vast majority of Imperial citizens on board were reassigned for re-education on St. Horton's Stand [re: Penal Colony/Death World, Segmentum Pacificus]. However, Decimus and a few others of the now defunct Imperial Remembrancer Order were interviewed for possible transition to the Inquisition's Holy Ordos. [4 out of 17 were eligible for transition. Those went to the Ordos Xenos, Hereticus and Sicarius, the rest went for re-education as per the rest of the crew].
Decimus was brought up-to-date on Imperial Policies and Beliefs by the Ordo Chronos before been passed to the Ordo Xenos along high reaching lines as Lord Inquisitor [REDACTED] of the Ordo Chronos provided a strong recommendation to Lord Inquisitor Glavinus of the Ordo Xenos due to Decimus's knowledge of and prior experience with the Slaugth. Glavinus accepted and began mentoring Decimus.
Decimus's insight into the Slaugth comes from personal experience during the Great Crusade and Glavinus' later training, as well information he had obtained from [REDACTED], a Legiones Astartes Centurion that he once had a friendship with. This has provided him with a greater understanding of the species and the threat they represent should their numbers become that high again.
Since becoming a member of the Inquisition, Decimus has shown great tenacity in hunting down and destroying the Slaugth. Using his knowledge and skill, as well as those of his retinue and personal guard, he has disposed of twenty-two Slaugth cells across the edge of the Imperium, particularly in the galactic North-east. He has also ascertained the fate of the Sable Griffons chapter in their home system of Advex-Mors, although why he was there is unknown, which ended the mystery that had lasted for millennia.
On a side-note, he has established a rapport with the Dark Angels chapter. This is likely due to their involvement, as a Legion, in the Rangdan Xenocides so he may have attempted to gain further information regarding their tactics and weaponry from them. He also found two Astartes of unknown origin, however he remains silent as to how these individuals came to be in his retinue.
His investigations seem to be comprising of venturing out into the Halo Stars, traveling to the various worlds that were involved in the Rangdan Xenocides and seemingly tracking the path that the 617th Expeditionary Fleet took. What this latter part has to do with the Slaugth threat i[REDACTED]

"Princess Nenime, I've had a tip off about some precious cargo on a Rogue Trader ship. Two dozen guards, small ship. Want to help liberate the cargo from the clumsy hands of humanity? Meet me at these coordinates and let me on your ship if you want to aid me in some piracy" -Rishaeron Wayfinder, Ranger of Ulthwé,
Expecting a great prize, Nenime arrived at the rendezvous point with an Aurora-class light cruiser, the Little Moon, and two Nightshade-class destroyers.
She received the ranger in her audience chamber, where one of her girls was playing a pleasant melody with a three-stringed instrument on the far side of the room.
“Welcome to the Little Moon, my friend!” Nenime said, sat across a low table. She wore an armor of green glass full of dried flowers, and a night-blue holographic cloak speckled with stars. “I have ordered up a liqueur of honey and anise to whet our wits and warm our hearts. Please, be seated.”
Her nine handmaidens kneeled in a line behind her, their heads bowed in silent meditation.
