M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?

Oooh plenty! Well one that I thought of a while ago was writing what I thought Brainy’s involvement in the Supergirl show was going to be like, before he got promoted to a regular character.

Another idea is a collection of letters that the Legionnaires slip under the door to Brainy’s locked lab while he’s gone on Earth (in the SG verse). Second collection idea are just unrelated one-shots/drabbles on comic Legion friendships + ships.

N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?

So, I love reading crossover fics so another one that involves Brainy would be amazing. Now, a crossover I’d like to see? It’s usually a ‘I didn’t know I needed this until I read it’. Though, DC internal crossovers could be cool too….more cartoon Legion x Young Justice TV…or just reboot Legion with Young Justice TV. (uhhh so I like Young Justice TV crossovers too haha). people rarely finish crossover fics and that is a real shame

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence? 

Garth Nix books were my life as a kid, so I’d say I got some influence from his writing when I first started out, probably, especially his Keys to the Kingdom series. Fanfic wise, I started off writing in the ‘TWEWY’ fandom on ff.net so my still-active writing influences are ‘Chronic Guardian’ and ‘Aviantei’ from that site and they continue to influence my writing.

Z: Major character death–do you ever write/read it? Is there a character whose death you can’t tolerate?

Yeah, sure I do! Plenty! Though, not necessarily where the plot surrounds a major character death, but yeah if it’s done for plot purposes. Also, yes I’d write it hahaha. Hmmm…nope, I don’t have characters for whom I couldn’t tolerate their character deaths. (In fanfic, and depending on context, though)

The ride back on the time bubble is comparatively smooth this time, though the landing back in his lab is a bit shaky.

There’s that distinct pain in his head again and he can already feel his thought-tracks start to cross each other. He tries to ignore it.

He gave permission for his lab to be used, yet there is still a bit of unease when he stumbles out of the bubble to find that it is not precisely as he has left it. It’s also not empty.

“Well isn’t that K-K-K curious.” The voice speaks Interlac but Brainy does not recognise the insectoid. “Were you conducting an extended experiment with the Time Cube, professor?” The sentient peers at him with big dark black bulbous eyes.

“No, I haven’t, Professor Cicadia,” replies the professor. The man regards Querl suspiciously. “Who are you?” 

“I am Brainiac 5,” he answers. He does recognise this man. Rond Vidar, a fellow researcher, who Brainy has interacted with before. “What are you doing in my lab?”

Cicadia and Rond exchange a look of puzzlement. 

Don’t they recognise me - oh.

Querl realises that he hasn’t turned off his image inducer, which he does so now. 

This does not create the reaction he desires, as the two look even more confused and apprehensive. 

“He wears the symbol of the original Brainiac,” Cicadia mutters. 

“Indeed...” Rond eyes the symbol on his forehead. “And he claims to be Brainiac 5. Blue as he may be.”

This is becoming odd, most people should recognise him; the Legionnaires don’t have secret identities like in the 21st century. They’re covered extensively in public reports, so most citizens of the United Planets should know what he looks like. Yet they don’t seem to.

“Yes, I am Brainiac 5. Querl Dox. This is my lab.” He hears his voice tremble. This is not something he expects to have to explain after a sickening journey through time. He lifts his hand to show his Legionnaire ring for good measure. “Where are the other Legionnaires? Civilians shouldn’t have access to my lab. Unless the current Legion leader has given permission...or perhaps Lyle let you in...”

“Lyle?” Rond echoes. “As in Lyle Norg? The late Invisible Kid?”

Querl feels his heart almost stop.

He feels himself slipping. The fatigue from time travel hits all at once and he loses consciousness. His last thought before blacking out is that he thinks someone catches him...

...

“So, Brainiac - what are your k-k-k-conclusions?” Circadia asks, as Brainiac 5 lifts the smaller-statured humanoid that has apparently been claiming to be him. “Shapeshifter? K-k-k clone? ”

Brainiac 5 glances at the time-bubble for a second. “Neither,” he deduces, “I believe we have a case of a Brainiac 5 from another Earth.”

“Intriguing,” says Rond. “From the way he was speaking, I believe he didn’t intend to end up here.”

“Agreed. To aim for a temporal jump and to cross Earths instead...” Brainiac 5 frowns. “A grave mistake in calculations. Of the kind I would make during one of my more difficult times.” He sees the tired lines on the face of his seemingly younger counterpart. “Let’s take him to the guest quarters. I would like to take a closer look at his transport, afterwards.”

The frown deepens. 

He has met other counterparts before but none so young and yet already in such a dismal state as this one.

Brainiac 5 decides that when their guest wakes up, they will help him.

5: first headcanon that pops into my head(this is kinda specific to the reboot universe if it wasn’t destroyed because reasons) In his private quarters, which are normally bare sans the necessary furniture and a scattering of lab experiments, on the bedside table, is a small, framed image of him plus the other two Querl Doxs from the preboot and the threeboot. They are the closest (acceptable) thing he has to family, and he quite likes them, even if they are obnoxious 11th intelligences. He communicates with them whenever he gets the chance. Only Lyle and R.J. Brande know the picture exists.
