apollo's dodgeball has found its target yet again

i've mentioned this so many times but the fact that snapcube dubs have better character development for sonic characters than the original games is ABSURD to me.

blaze starts out more like a teasing friend, then becomes more and more toxic and self centered, to the point where she sacrificed herself not out of selflessness, but to be treated as a goddess.

sonic goes through a similar arc in riders, with a characterization similar to his depiction in boom at first, then his teasing becomes less like a funny joke as it starts eating at tails's insecurities, he leaves amy to die, and ignores + interrupts knuckles several times. tails yells at him for this, and he's hurt, but it's not until eggman tells him he's ALWAYS been a bad person does he try and confront his issues. sonic has a heartfelt conversation with jet about this, apologizes to everyone, and they make up during a battle. "sonic the hedgehog is a good person now!"

and shadow. shadow is very inconsistent with his morality, fitting with the game's multiple paths. his goal is to become president and overthrow the devil, for better or for worse, and his means to do this are so complicated they confuse the devil himself. he's doing it because he wants some semblance of control back in his life. he barely remembers anything, and he wants to make new memories of what he himself wants to do. he even tells sonic that hes sick of having to change for everyone, or do sin just for the sake of stacking up sin points. sonic is desperately trying to remind him that their friendship is more important than being king of hell, but shadow can't be swayed by just a speech about friendship. he wants to do what HE wants, not what other people want. and throughout the story, you slowly stop seeing him as selfish for this, and begin sympathizing with him. even if you still think he's selfish by the end, he still comes out a hero.

I played a big part in the social media presence of a Gravity Falls roleplay server that took place in a second Weirdmageddon! It was called the Weirdmageddon Cult, a name proposed by the other head of the project who I have not-so-fond memories of. "Hey, gamers." Announced a voice. Midoriya and Bakugou turned to see a man in loose black clothes and a couple of hands gripping him. He was standing on a wall. "Were you guys talking about Fortni- No, nope, I'm not even going to pretend you were talking about Fortnite I just love bringing up my favorite. Game. Whenever I can." He began to gesture slowly. "I, too, have insomnia, but unlike you, mine is not caused by depression."

"Hey, that's not-" Midoriya began to protest. "Well, okay, yes, I am depressed."

"Mine is because I play so much Fortnite." The man continued, "I stay up late, and go to Tilted Towers-" He turned to someone off to the side. "I don't actually play Fortnite, I don't know any other locations."

"Welcome to my house." Shigaraki announced as they walked into a seedy bar. "As you can see, I've knocked over many chairs because I get so Tilted at the Towers."

"Uh," Midoriya pointed out, "This isn't really, tilted, or a tower-"

"Well, you see, it's a Gamer Pad." Shigaraki explained. "Not many girls come in here because I get Friendzoned so frequently. And That's Okay." He hastily tacked on.

"Uh, I'd like to be in the friend zone." Midoriya said, "I'd like friends!" He looked to Bakugou, who shook his head.

"It's not as pleasant as you think." Shigaraki told him, walking slowly towards Midoriya and softly gesticulating. "They don't treat you like a friend - they treat you, like an Item. Sometimes I wish I could be, more than just an accessory to these women. But as a gamer, I don't get respect."

"Well, I'm not a gamer, so, maybe they'll respect me?" Midoriya hoped.

"...That just makes you a Beta Cuck." Shigaraki said. "That's the difference between you and I, Midoriya Izuku. I'm an- I'm an Alpha Gamer f" Shigaraki stopped entirely. As Midoriya and Bakugou stared at him, Shigaraki wordlessly pressed a key on a keyboard, causing a large screen to light up. "Anyways, where are- where we droppin', boys? These are all the new maps they've added, and that's a newspaper."

"Have you ever actually interacted with a woman in your life, Shigaraki?" Bakugou asked.

"That doesn't matter." Shigaraki took something out. "Check out this cool Gem I got on eBay for seven dollars." He handed it to Midoriya.

"Oh, oh this is cool, can I add this to my rock collection?" Midoriya asked as he got a vision of All Might burning.

"OH!!! OH MY GOD!!!" All Might's vision screamed, "SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!"

"Oh my god!" Midoriya gasped. "That looked like it hurt. What do you think, Kacchan?"

Bakugou stepped closer.

"Um, Kacchan?"

"I didn't see it." Bakugou said.

"Give me back my thing." Shigaraki abruptly took back the gem. "As you can see, I had to trap All Might in the Hell Dimension, as he disrespected gamers."

A purple fog began to swirl around all three of them.

"If you- If you still-" Shigaraki suddenly pointed at Bakugou and Midoriya. "Welcome to Kurogiri's Warp Gate, it's time to go."

"Wait-" Midoriya stumbled around. "I- I don't, uh-"

All three vanished into the mist.
