Hi, I'm back to share this. Merula has become Quinn's coworker and made friends with Ruby, who is currently sort of imprisoned in Quinn's apartment 😂
Which Merula doesn't know about, because it's this big ROCC secret.
Also Ruby is canonically gay and I have these fun ideas about Merula's reaction when she finds out Ruby and Quinn are basically living together. There is still only one bed in the apartment 😂

Yes, how do they know each other? They've only been dating for about five years (I think? Hogwarts Mystery timeline can be so vague) and are still lying about it for who knows what reason
#ruby sleeps on the couch#but I imagine some yelling before Merula realises that#i love this game#it's gotten so ridiculous#hogwarts mystery#merula snyde#quinn lee#ruby honeysuckle#merula x mc#merula x quinn#quirula

Hi!
Beyond Hogwarts is here! What do you think about it so far? and What do you think about MC's adult model?
It's actually underwhelming, just MC's student head with a taller body, I expected better 😬
Sorry it took me a while, but I wanted to finish Chapter 3 before answering to have something more to say. I’ll probably still do more detailed commentary, but still – I have a fuller picture now. And honestly? I kind of agree with you. It’s rather “meh” so far. And to elaborate on that, I’d put my thoughts in one of three categories: the good, the bad, and the ugly.
THE GOOD
I actually quite like the story so far. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it’s great or anything. But I’d say it’s pretty decent. I mostly like the concept of the ROCC, and I still think it’s a good way of approaching MC’s job. Admittedly, I do feel there are a little too many employees in the background of the ROCC scenes, considering that it’s a secret division, but it’s not a big complaint. Especially since I believe it’s supposed to involve characters from all over the world.
I’m glad to see Olivia again, and I’m thrilled to see Callum (though I have some big complaints here, but more about it in a moment). Surprisingly, I also like Ruby so far. I saw people complaining about her already, but I don’t really understand it. I feel like her optimism is just a part of “a happy-go-lucky girl from Texas”, and it’s fine by me. I don’t find it obnoxious or anything.
THE BAD
I actually have to start with one of the story parts. To be more specific: with Flump. I have very mixed feelings about our new boss. I want to make a separate post about him, but to put it short, the execution of his character is just bad. I usually like the type of “mean mentor who grows to appreciate the protagonist” – and I believed that’s what Flump was gonna be. But the way he was written in his first chapter, just really doesn’t work for me.
Unfortunately, I also have to put some technical issues in this category. I don’t really mind the lack of Quidditch, but I don’t understand why they reduced the number of Friendship/Clubs quizzes. Also, while the new map looks very nice…

… it’s not super practical. For people who don’t know, when you tap the stairs icon it brings you to the area you’re currently in, not the general view of the map.

And it’s a bit problematic, in my opinion, because even statistically speaking, when you move, it’s more likely that you want to move to a location in a different area, not the same. Especially if you’re in Azkaban, for example, because the North Sea has only one location. You know what I mean? I don’t know, I guess it’s not a big deal, but it kinda made things more annoying.
THE UGLY
Ok, so here’s where I put what you mentioned: MC’s appearance. Because MC’s adult design is quite terrible. Admittedly, I feel like it looks a little better with some outfits:

… but overall… it’s pretty bad:

And I really don’t know how to interpret that comment by Penny:

... because… MC still does have a baby face. And it’s kinda weird because it seems like some characters did get a face upgrade? Like Penny, for example. So… I don’t know what to think about it. I hope it can still be changed, but I’m not holding my breath.
Still, MC is not what bothers me the most. Also, I can’t say I expected better because I know it’s better to not expect anything from JC. However, there is one thing I have to rant about. Namely…
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?? WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO MY MAN?!
I was already worried when it was revealed that Callum will be shorter, but they also changed his face?! He looks like Callum’s baby brother! WHYYYYY?? Why can’t Callum just look older than MC when he is in fact older??
To be clear, I still love Callum with my whole heart, and I think he’s the best part of Beyond Hogwarts. But… why…? 😢

Adult Chiara finally appeared in the main story! What do you think?
I love her! I think she's exactly where she's supposed to be, doing what she loves, and I'm proud of her for that. Slaying as a Healer (well, more the opposite of slaying, but you get the point) rocking that outfit, and what's this? She knows Ruby? Color me intrigued. Thus-far, Beyond hasn't really done a lot to pull my attention, but I'm willing to wait it out. This game is nothing if not slow-paced, it always has been. But I do love Chiara and as I've pretty much settled on Luca working at St. Mungo's, it's good to see her and know that Luca will have a friendly face to work with, at least. I just hope she appears more often, but I regret to say that which characters appear from now on may be a little more unpredictable. There are just so damn many of them and we no longer have a setting where we all live in the same castle.

The history of Litha reveals its deep connections to ancient agricultural societies & their reliance on the sun’s power. Celebrated as part of the Wheel of the Year, Litha symbolizes the balance between light & darkness. Throughout history customs such as bonfires, herb gathering & the construction of sunwheels have marked this festival. Today, Litha continues to be celebrated by various communities, with gatherings at sacred sites & private rituals in natural settings. It serves as a reminder of our connection with nature and the cycles of life.
• The traditions of Litha appear to be borrowed from many cultures. Most ancient cultures celebrated the summer solstice in some way such as the Celts celebrated Litha with hilltop bonfires & dancing. Many people attempted to jump over or through the bonfires for good luck. Other European traditions included setting large wheels on fire & rolling them down a hill into a body of water.
Litha is often associated with Midsummer, a celebration that extends beyond the pagan & Wiccan traditions. Midsummer festivities are observed in many cultures around the world, including Scandinavian countries where it holds a prominent place in their cultural heritage. Midsummer dances, bonfires, & feasts are integral parts of these celebrations, often accompanied by folklore & traditional rituals that honor the sun’s energy & the abundance of nature during this time.
• In the Northern Hemisphere the Summer Solstice occurs when the Sun reaches its highest and northernmost points in the sky. It marks the start of summer in the northern half of the globe. (In contrast, the June solstice in the Southern Hemisphere is when the Sun is at its lowest point in the sky, marking the start of winter.)
Related festivals:
• Vestalia: June 7th -15th-
Was a Roman religious festival in honor of Vesta, the goddess of the hearth & the burning continuation of the sacred fire of Rome. It was held from 7–15 June & was reserved as a women’s-only event. Domestic & family life in general were represented by the festival of the goddess of the house & of the spirits of the storechamber — Vesta & the Penates .
On the first day of festivities the penus Vestae (sanctum sanctorum of the temple of Vesta which was usually curtained off) was opened for the only time during the year, at which women offered sacrifices. As long as the curtain remained open, mothers could come, barefoot and disheveled, to leave offerings to the goddess in exchange for a blessing to them & their family.
For the last day, the penus Vestae was solemnly closed, the Flaminica Dialis observed mourning & the temple was subjected to a purification called stercoratio: the filth was swept from the temple & carried next by the route called clivus Capitolinus & then into the Tiber.

june | はるなつあきふゆ: seasons with tabico
the pomegranate finally splits with a soft crack, yielding after a long silence. its skin is thick, firm like armour, but the inside bursts with mellowness—glinting and wet. a hundred little rubies nestled within pale membranes, waiting to be coaxed out. karasu’s hands move slowly, reverently along them.
it’s the first of june.
it’s the first of june, and the air is thick with the green smell of summer’s coming—cut grass and petrichor and a wisp of honeysuckle and the special sort of sun that doesn’t just warm the skin but permeates your very marrow.
it’s the kind of day that makes everything feel like a beginning.
you watch karasu from the dining table, chin tucked into your palm, the other hand twiddling absentmindedly with the drawstring of your skirt. you’re speechless, and you can’t stop staring.
the fruit reminds you of him.
encased in hardness and hiding softness inside. not flashy, never, but startlingly vivid once you dare to open him. there’s always more to uncover. layer after layer after layer of sweetness and sharpness and mystery, he is a fruit that bleeds but never asks to be pitied.
he picks each seed from the pomegranate one by one, thumb brushing away the bitter pith, and something about its silent intensity is unbearable to you.
because karasu is like this with everything he loves—quiet and careful. rarely messy and never cruel. he carries warmth in his bones and doesn’t notice it. he teases with playfulness. touches things like they might bruise, but still holds them firmly.
sunlight strikes the juice on his knuckles, turning them garnet-bright. it stains his fingers, races down the lifeline of his palm.
this, too, is a kind of love.
june had always felt like a clean slate, like a long exhale after half a year of holding your breath. a month of young hearts pressing wishes into the air.
shy and hopeful, you’d once told him that maybe june would be your month. for new things. and for quiet promises. and for maybe, someday, getting married. you whispered it to him one night, eyes fluttering shut beneath the weight of it, and karasu had only kissed your temple and said, “then i guess june’s ours now, huh?”
and today, here he is. fingers red. unrushed, unbothered, unspeakably tender.
he catches you staring and turns to face you, quirking a brow.
“what’s with that face?” his lips lilt up into a smirk. “lookin’ at me like you’re boutta propose, or somethin’.”
you shake your head, hand fluttering over your mouth—but it’s too late. your eyes are already going glassy. you nearly knock the stool over from how suddenly you stand up. too in love and too grateful.
you cross the distance to him with urgency and karasu can only blink before you take his red-stained hand in both of yours, gazing up at him with that wide, trembling gaze, and tugging him down into a kiss. wet, warm, full of breath, and something unspoken that fills the space between you. his free hand finds the small of back immediately, on instinct, as if it had been waiting.
he hums when you part to nuzzle your nose along his, brows pinching in the way they do when he feels particularly endeared to you.
“oi… don’t go getting all weepy on me now,” karasu murmurs against your lips, voice mirthful and low.
“sorry,” you sniffle and whisper, smiling meekly, “i just like you so much.”
he laughs a breathless laugh and you blink your tears away.
because it’s june, and everything still feels possible.

NND Week Prompt Revival - Childhood Friends
Hey peeps!
Ever since my let down on Nuts & Dolts Week 2024, I’ve been really wanting to make it up to everyone (and myself), so I figured I’d put together a list of Nuts & Dolts Week Prompts from years past, and I’d complete them at my own pace over time :D
I love these two after all, and sometimes I just need some spontaneous ship art to get me out of a rut, y’know?
The first contender for this revival is a prompt from 2021: Childhood Friends!!
It may not be canon, but I think Penny and Ruby would be SUUUUUCH cutie pies as 7 year olds. They’d be the type of kids who’d play in the woods and make fairy houses or flower jewelry, climb trees, eat honeysuckle; the whole nine yards.
As for how they’d meet? Idk Pietro made a prototype body and field tests revolve around going to a remote island in Vale and having her play with other kids. She can’t fight Grimm if she can’t withstand a day at the playground, right?
They’re so cute I friggin can’t aaaaaaa-

What are your thoughts on Ruby? I haven’t played beyond so I haven’t met her.
Honestly, I've barely interacted with Beyond myself. I'm not caught up to there yet in my own file, hell I'm still on the end of Year 6 if I remember right - it's been months since I played. I may need to upload some screenshots again, alas. As far as Ruby is concerned, the extent of my knowledge come from watching Akemi Stormborn's Let's Play (and now a word from our sponsor) but she seems alright. Reminds me a little of Sandy Cheeks from Spongebob, but that may just be the Southern thing. At this point, I'm a little burnt out on new characters the game wants to introduce. The character list is so vast by this point that keeping track of everyone is too confusing, especially since HPHM seems to have given up on trying to give them equal distribution - to the extent that it ever did in the first place. But, bottom line is, Ruby is nice. Looks a little too much like Charlie for it to not be distracting, but, she's nice. Afraid I don't have a ramble this time.
