Deaged Oz AU - Rumors Out Of Atlas

Have the next Tipverse bit, set just after that news article... the one where Ironwood slipped up. He's not that good at handling the media in this, and it comes back to bite him a little bit. Warning, Vale's council, or at least certain members thereof, are really not very nice.

"Did you hear the news? Apparently they found one of the kidnap victims..." The man saying that sounded strangely amused, a doubting light in his eye. But then, there were always rumors out of the other kingdoms, and with Atlas on lockdown, that meant that anything they heard was likely to be highly spurious, at best.

"... what kidnap victims?" his companion asked, sounding curious. But then they were quite a lot younger than the other man, and neither of them were in Atlas at the moment, it stood to reason that he wouldn’t know the story. Kidnapping happened all the time, and Oak had the sinking impression that he hadn’t actually specified the kidnapping victims in question.

It was hard sometimes, though, to remember that those of his friends that hadn’t actually grown up in Atlas were far less likely to have heard of it. Everybody there knew about the snatched children, it had been far too public to be hidden after the first few vanished. It had quickly gotten far too high profile to keep much of a lid on, anyway. Some of those snatched… well…

“The kidnap victims. You know, the ones out of Atlas? The Winchester girl, that Arc brat… one of the Schnees?”

“One of the Schnees was kidnapped?” They sounded genuinely confused and slightly hurt by the look of disgust Oak shot them at the question. Oak was a big enough person to acknowledge that he wasn’t really being fair to them, but he wasn’t in the mood to try to explain. He’d known one of the victims, at least slightly. They’d been something along the lines of a friend of a friend… maybe with a few other friends in between, but it wasn’t like he had absolutely no connection to the case! Not like some people. If he concentrated, he could almost remember their face…

“Not one of the current ones. Look, look it up, would ya? I don’t have time to explain.” Oak stood up, gulping down the other half of his whiskey in one. His slight wince was the only sign that he’d noticed the burn, but he needed to be somewhere else. Maybe finding a few of his older friends would make sense right now? They might be more understanding than these young puppies were. He didn’t miss Atlas, not really… but it was so hard to judge just what people in Mistral would really care about. He couldn’t be the only one, but he’d been expecting to hear more about it by now. If it was even real, with Atlas, you could never really tell…

The dark skinned woman scoffed to herself as she leant on a wall, listening. It was always interesting just how much gossip could be learned, if only you listened for it. But then, Headmaster Theodore had been strangely careless as to his reaction to this particular piece of news. That it had come to him meant that it was more than likely actually legitimate, but she couldn’t really work out just what was so important about finding a kidnap victim. She was only just old enough to remember the news of the ring when it had broken originally, but surely the fact that it had taken them a quarter of a century to find whoever this was meant that nobody was really looking too hard? She’d been to Atlas before, she knew just how meticulous they were about identifying visitors. Especially right now, with whatever bee had gotten into Ironwood’s bonnet. But then, what had happened to Beacon had probably shaken him, it had shaken most of them. She’d actually liked Ozpin, why couldn’t it have been Ironwood that had died? Nobody would really miss him…

That was probably a bit mean of her, but nobody she knew could really stand the man at the best of times, and whatever was happening in Atlas right now was certainly not that. There had been a few defectors, and the tales they told of just how strict things had gotten? Well, they were welcome here in Vacuo. Anybody fleeing what was starting to sound more like a regime than a kingdom always was.

She wondered if that was why Theo had locked himself away in his office for a few days, or if there were other reasons. It could well just be coincidence, or even something else Ironwood had done that had annoyed him, it was never that easy to tell. It still surprised her at times, that nobody had killed Ironwood yet, but that was out of her hands. Vacuo was too far from Atlas to sent an assassin, and besides, Theo would be terribly disappointed in them if that was to happen.

It wasn’t really that important right now anyway, she mused, listening to the students talk. They’d already changed the subject, not that she could really blame them. If it was long ago to her, what must it be to them? Their parents might have cared more, but then again, probably not. Especially since one of those snatched had been a Schnee… not Jacques’ kid, though. At least she didn’t think that hey had been? Eh, probably didn’t really matter. Hopefully, whoever they’d found might still have a family waiting for them.

She sighed again and stalked off towards her classroom. Rumors or not, these lessons weren’t going to teach themselves.

There were a few members of Vale’s council that were rather less than impressed when the news broke that Atlas had recovered one of the kidnapping victims. It had been so long ago that most of them merely felt happy for them, almost hopeful. Kidnapping wasn’t exactly an Atlas only problem, and all four kingdoms had lost people over the years. The hope in all bar three of their member’s faces seemed to blind them to the turmoil brewing in the exceptions.

All three were old guard, had been on the council for at least thirty years. Had worked hard to make themselves so indispensable that it would have been unthinkable to replace them. Had been voted in, time after time, on the loyalty of those they catered to. Had hoped, independently of each other, that Atlas might have forgotten the lost children.

That Atlas had supposedly found one lit no warm fires in any of their hearts, especially with the heavy implication that it was one of the Atlas four. While none of them much cared if they had located Reuben Arc or Liliana Ironwood, the same couldn’t be said for the other two. It was vaguely possible that a lot of their control had slipped through their fingers when Beacon fell. Nobody had actually found Ozpin’s body  and while none of them ever spoke of it, they all knew who he had once been.

Wren Winchester was also a possibility, but they rather thought she would have reacted by now, made her displeasure known if nothing else. It was so galling, to have to pay her all the money they hadn’t paid Ozpin over the years. They’d gotten so used to padding their pockets, knowing that he was too cowed to really complain about their treatment of him. They’d raised him, shaped him… surely nobody would begrudge them profiting from it?

But now, now Atlas knew… something. They weren’t really certain what that something was, but things were changing. They just hoped it really was Reuben Arc, he would be far easier dealt with than Ozpin would.

If he was alive. If Atlas had somehow found out about at least part of the deception. If. There was no way to know, though. Reaching out to the other kingdom would be highly suspicious at best, tantamount to an admittance at worst. All of them had seen the mess that battle had made of Beacon though. If Ozpin lived, surely he’d be injured, unable to hide?

No, they couldn’t have actually found Winter Schnee… surely they’d know by now?

Ozpin: I doubt it, but who knows. Hopefully this team will find us some answers.

Glynda: The rumors are already starting. We need to issue a statement to at least the student body, before things get out of hand.

Ozpin: I agree, I just don;t know how to address this issue... four young men rendered limb from limb and consumed... not really anyway to make that more palatable.

Glynda: Then just be honest, and let the students know that we are taking actions. Maybe even put in a stricter curfew?

Ozpin: They were in a locked room.

Glynda: You know those locks can be breached. It takes effort and some technical savvy, but they can be.

Ozpin: I know. We'll inform the students of the investigation, and we'll instate a curfew. Until further notice all students must be in their registered dorms by 8 pm.

Glynda: Any exceptions?

Ozpin: No.

Glynda: So I can deny Ms Scarlatina's request to have Mr Arc share her room?

What about an AU where Grimm are a natural species, not counting Salem's abominations, and every Huntress and Huntsman needs a Handler? Dealer's choice on who the Handler is.

Series: RWBY AU Criteria: Grimm are a natural occurring species, and so should not be overhunted, excepting in the case of Salem's abominations and perversions of the Grimm. AU title (optional): Huntsmen Guild

New huntsmen and huntresses have to have a handler for their first few years, and then they can take the trial to be a handler and report to the guild directly.

The Guild, formally known as The Huntsmen Guild, keeps track of hunting and the population of Grimm colonies in the regions. The Handler helps the young Hunters to keep from over-hunting, going into hunts that they aren't ready for, and picking out the abominations.

Team RWBYJNPR are a new batch of huntsmen and huntresses that have decided to pair their two teams together. It means less work for them, the ability to take on larger hunts for their level, and more styles and abilities to draw from and train together. Oobleck and Goodwitch are their first handlers, until they get out in the field a bit more and the Guild is able to pick two experienced handlers to take over.

That was supposed to be over Summer of their first year past graduation. By the time that they get to that review date, they have saved a city, destroyed multiple corrupted nests, been noticed by Salem and Ozpin, been to another world, murder and abusive ex in self-defense, and removed a corrupt government to free the people it oppressed.

Therapy, prosthetic limbs, food, and weapons are covered by the Guild on a nominal fee for Guild Members, or relatives. There are a surprisingly large number of people that are related to a Huntsman or Huntress, who would totally and completely not allow strangers to use their numbers to give out the discount. (open secret, this is just shy of being in the manual.)

So, I’ve been trying to work out how to request a Baldur’s Gate 3 AU for RWBY, but I’ve been unable to determine if it should be a slip in, like the characters are placed in the setting, or a replacement, with the characters substituting for existing ones in the universe. . . but I’ve been struggling to figure out who, when it struck me. . . Three favorite characters, three inciting villains. Gortash, chosen of Bane, god of tyranny, replaced by Weiss. Ketheric, Chosen of Myrkul, god of Death and Necromancy, replaced by Maria. . . And Orin, Chosen of Bhaal, lord of murder, replaced by sweet little Ruby.

Littlest murder hobos. I mean depending on how it's done it could be revealed to be a dnd session in the SCU or even just played entire straight (ha) as those three replace 'em.

Only downside is poor Minthara. At any rate as far as requests go you can request anything you want with your points. Odds are I'll be fine with it.

So I've started watching Cobra Kai and it's the coolest shit ever (almost done with season 5 at the time of posting), so naturally, I've decided to make a RWBY AU about it. Now right now this is just a half baked idea, but hopefully I'll refine it and make it an actual story sometime. Here's a list of all the roles certain characters could occupy:

Summer Rose -> Daniel LaRusso: Once a poor kid who moved across the country and dealt with bullies until she learned karate and beat her rival in a big tournament. Now wealthy and successful, Summer learns the dojo that tormented her in her youth has reopened and seeks to do whatever she can to stop their influence. I chose Summer for Daniel because of her status as the previous generations' hero, and about how they both try to do what they think is the right thing, even if they don't always succeed

Raven Branwen -> Johnny Lawrence: Summer's chief bully until she was defeated at the tournament and ended up becoming a drunken moronic loser. Until she meets a student who needs her help and she develops into drunken moronic karate sensei. Raven's girlfailure energy and hidden heart of gold fits the present day Johnny very well, and plus having her as Johnny lets us have...

Yang Xiao Long -> Robby Keane: Raven's estranged and troubled daughter, who takes a job working for her mom's nemesis out of spite. However, when Summer proves to be a much better mother figure then her bio-mom, Yang joins her dojo and quickly becomes its top fighter. Yang and Raven as Robby and Johnny was such a perfect combination that I couldn't resist, it had to be them.

Emerald Sustrai -> Miguel Diaz: A high schooler who moves next to Raven and learns her neighbor is a karate master after running afoul of bullies. After convincing her to train her, Emerald becomes the first and star student of Raven's newly opened dojo. I'm gonna be honest, I'm really not sure who would best fit Miguel's role, if you have any better ideas comment in the notes.

Ruby Rose -> Sam LaRusso: Summer's daughter who trained in martial arts as a child and lived a sheltered life, until her new "friends" start a smear campaign against her. Angered by this, Ruby starts doing karate once again and ends up falling in love with Emerald. There isn't much to say for this one other then I chose Ruby for Sam because she's Summer's daughter.

Cinder Fall -> Tory Nichols: A deeply troubled but highly confident teenager who joins Raven's dojo. She very quickly becomes deeply personally offended by Ruby's existence and does whatever she can to crush her rival's dojo. Cinder definitely fits some of Tory's more unhinged moments and I think she'd be a good threat to the heroes.

Lie Ren -> Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz: A quiet teenager who gets bullied along with his long time best friend Jaune. He joins Raven's dojo and develops a hyper confident persona as he learns karate, only to become a bully due to the influence of Ironwood. I chose Ren for Hawk because they both start out as very quiet kids who don't say much and because they both have arcs about having a downward spiral in part due to the influence of a military man.

Jaune Arc -> Demetri Alexopoulos: A sarcastic nerd who gets bullied along with his best friend Ren. Initially staying out of karate due to Raven's harsh teaching styles, he ends up joining Summer's dojo due to a lot of his former friends becoming bullies under Ironwood's influence. This one was a no-brainer, Jaune had to be Demetri.

James Ironwood -> John Kreese: The main antagonist, a karate sensei and war veteran whose PTSD and No Honor, No Mercy philosophy poisons a lot of his students into becoming bullies, including Raven in the past. When Raven's revived dojo becomes a success, he returns to pass on his corruptive teachings to the next generation. Ironwood as Kreese was another obvious for me, given Kreese's past as a war veteran and both of their struggles with PTSD.

Arthur Watts -> Terry Silver: The other main antagonist, Ironwood's wealthy longtime business partner who has ambitions to spread the No Honor, No Mercy philosophy worldwide. Although he's initially a close friend of Ironwood's, Watts ends up becoming disillusioned and starts forming plans of his own. I decided to have Watts be Silver because of their past histories of being allies with Ironwood and Kreese (and also because RWBY's resident corrupt ultra rich CEO Jacques is nowhere near cool enough to be Terry Silver).

And that's all the main cast. Feel free to leave suggestions for other rolls or characters that you think are fitting.

To Quote RWBY- "Bizarre, gibbering, soulless shadow monsters with unknown origins and motivations are waging a constant war against mankind, which is sequestered into four little islands of safety constantly besieged in a world overrun. Are we going to get the same all-consuming darkness, brutality and Hopeless War vibes present in, say, Attack on Titan? Nope! This is the story of four teenage girls attending a prestigious monster-slayer academy so they can learn how to kick their butts even harder than they already do! Besides, as bad as the Grimm can be, there's plenty of less monstrous-looking but just as merciless and cunning bad guys for them to worry about." In this universe Grimm are possibly neutral instead of being pretty much evil. Being able to be tamed, ridden. Think how to train your dragon series. Some good and some evil and just some neutral. Thus the heroes can tame and care for them and work with them with ease. However Anti-Ozpin can corrupt them using magic simialr to grimmel the grisly poisoned dragons and turn them into the Grimm we know and love. Thus Salem still has more control over the nromal anti-grimm due to being 100 percent good in this bizzaro universe. Ozpin having less. The quality (Ani-Oz) over quanity (Canon Salem).

Rwby Au: A Sly cooper thing but But Jaune is the Leader and Theif,Nora the Muscule and Driver, and Ruby as the Inventer and Hacker. They would have different Relationships than the Sly cooper gang. Like Nora x Jaune. I think Ruby should date the main detective after them. I think Penny would be neat. Weiss would work better probably. I don't know just a knee jerk idea from my Nora's Arc ask. They would only steal from Crimials and Corrupted leaders though.

I like this idea, but I'd like to tweak it a bit.

So, I actually saw another RWBY Sly Cooper AU with Ruby and I think Winter having a Sly/Carmelita relationship, so I'll stick with Ruby as the leader of the Ruby Rose Gang.

Ruby Rose is the leader, as previously stated, and the inheritor of the Robber's Rose, an ancient and secret relic intended for Silver-Eyed Huntresses like her, even though there's a current propaganda war going on to abolish freelance huntsman work. Unfortunately, on the night she was supposed to inherit this relic, her home was attacked, and her mother perished in the altercation. But it's not all bad, since it's where she met her best friends, Jaune and Nora.

Jaune isn't an orphan, but is the son of the Arc Family Foster Home, and spent a lot of team helping Ruby with hard brain stuff, like math and physics, though a lot of the experiments were done with him going hands-on. That doesn't make his efforts to build and improve weapons any less impressive.

Nora is an orphan and has been since her village was destroyed years ago. The village leader, Li Ren, offered to raise her with his son, but their home wasn't big enough anymore to support four people, even if two were children. So she left and met Jaune, a kinda gutless dweeb who was picked on a lot. That all changed when Nora stepped in and showed just what "girl power" was really all about! Since then, the two have been thick as thieves, which is fitting since Ruby had some plans for when she left the Arcs.

Now, with introductions out of the way, I'd like to talk a bit about story, if anyone is interested. Going along with the story of the first game, Ruby breaks into Atlas Headquarters to find a lead on what's known as "The Inner Circle". It is during this venture that she meets Specialist Penny Polendina, who says it's her duty to stop freelancers like the Ruby Rose Gang. Hunting down and besting The Inner Circle, Ruby makes it to Salem, whom she must defeat by teaming up with Penny. The second game story will also be the same with a new group of villains trying to bring Salem back from the dead, ending in a fight that cripples Jaune, Nora blaming herself, and Ruby giving herself up to Specialist Polendina.

Rwby Blood Moon Revamped!

Hello and welcome to Rwby Bloodmoon revamped!

An au taking place between volumes 2-3. The world of Remnant is more divided than ever after the warrior king of Vale, attempted to unite Remnant by force. 40 years later the board is set once more. With factions both known and hidden vying for control of Remnant once more.

Ozpin believing he was on the verge of greatness has decided to take matters into his own and hands and see his mission through. Salem meanwhile is weakened, stripped of her magic. She fears what the gods will do upon returning and believes it is best to leave humanity to its own devices. The line of friend and foe blurs as both will do whatever it takes to achieve their goals.

Summary:

40 years ago Ozpin had been so close to achieving his goal of uniting humanity under one banner. The Great War had been one of the bloodiest turning points throughout mankind's history. A fact that had truly disillusioned him from his belief that Humanity could be united under peace alone. No, what they needed was a strong and culling hand in order to help guide them. Salem, wishing to keep the world of Remnant godless, rallied her followers alongside the rebels. Together with her remaining power succeed in usurping the tyrannical Warrior King of Remnant. Leading to the modern yet unstable era of Remnant. The world has still yet to recover from its dark history. 40 years have passed since his fateful death. Despite this Ozpin has not allowed failure to discourage him no matter how maddening it was. With Salem crippled through their last war he plans on bringing humanity and faunus kind together no matter the cost.

Fandom Woes: Self-Righteousness of Modern Tragedy

I think I want to explain my case better about my beef with modern tragic/more-bitter-than-sweet fantasy/sci-fi, such as RWBY, Code Geass, and D.Gray-Man and it’s not necessarily the stories in of themselves

It’s the Self-Righteous Martyr/God-Complex of toxic contingent within these fandoms, to me they seem to ultimately not care the message the tragedy and suffering of these stories are trying to convey, but rather enjoy them and flaunt them for their own self-righteous megalomania

And I know that sounds hyperbolic, but it’s the tone, attitude and behavior of these people that give me that impression

For example with Code Geass and RWBY and the tragic deaths of Euphemia Li Britannia, Shirley Fenette, Lelouch, Pyrrha, and Penny respectively

As soon as that happened, many among the fandom would come out and theatrically proclaim the necessity of these tragic deaths, how it is so realistic an shows “thats life”, and brag how ultimately hopeful the stories still are and how it taught them how to be oh-so hopeful despite the odds, and I can see them act that way towards the burden of Allen Walker if the fandom was still active today as it was back then.

In any these cases, these people act as if they themselves were righteous martyrs, prophets of God,Life,Reality, usually the latter two because they claim "that's life" or "that's reality" all in a tone that reeks of holier-than-thou arrogance and vanity...

"Of my virtue, I am justly proud..."

Or worse, they speak with ghoulish glee and bragging about it gives them a feeling of power over these fictional characters as if they themselves are God almighty and it bleeds into how they treat real people who didn't like it by passive aggressively or belligerently belittling, judging, shaming, gaslighting, and sneering at them, implying the worse reasons of their distaste, and tell them to go watch a sitcom or slice-of-life anime or something

Then they are quick to condemn other fictional characters like Suzaku from Code Geass for being such a SOB and cheer on Watts putting Cinder on Full Blast, all while implying themselves to be such better people than both

Then they brag about what story was told with these ideas and concepts to be the end-all-be-all of these concepts in any fantasy/sci-fi epics that have even the slightest tinge of darkness and conflict and, lock them down into little theories, formulas, dogmas, and rule out everything else as a corruption, heresy, or a worthless little parasite, because they themselves are the infallible, all-knowing, and all-seeing “literary experts” who got everything all figured out and everyone else, wether the majority or minority, as peon reprobates.

Which then they pressure onto creatives with less power than them, especially when they disagree. All while they themselves can do whatever they want and do whatever they want with things they are unhappy with because “we know better than you”

I have experienced this expressing my ideas of what RWBY could have been instead, AU and Original work and been told it could only work as a slice of life anymore or a sitcom, or otherwise what I do with this stuff is ultimately meaningless and heresy and spiteful

All while they supported things like His Dark Materials Trilogy which is the Anti-Narnia written by a Atheist who hates CS Lewis and Christianity with a passion because he made the concepts more “interesting”

Or how making a sexy magical Captain Marvel with her own sailor scouts like Kamen America and her Kamen Corps because the creators were unhappy with what was done with the concept of Captain Marvel is nothing but a "Porno Captain Marvel Rip-Off"

while making an evil superman like Homelander and other nasty rendition of superheroes in "The Boys" by a guy who despises superheroes is totally fine because he knows what's the "interesting" end-all-be-all of these concepts.

All these things I describe can be summed up to figures in the Bible, The Pharisees

“They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.”-Matthew 23:4

They brag about the virtues and necessity of tragedy at the expense of fictional characters and real people, and boss around other creatives on what they do with this stuff, especially when they are unhappy, all whilst they themselves do whatever they want because they are supposedly so “objective”, they don’t need to follow the rules like everyone else

These prigs will tell others to “broaden their horizons” and give them the benefit of the doubt, but will refuse to give others the exact same courtesy because once again, “We know better than you.”

These self righteous people seem to only enjoy these stories not because of the message the tragedy and suffering is trying to convey, thats just a shield for them, but rather for their moral superiority and the thrill of power over others and being the measure of all things, for they know how life exactly works for specific individuals in specific genres and they know how to carry it out exactly.

They know with a "G"(gnosis) what's the end-all-be-all of specific concepts in ideas in specific genres and how to carry them out and they alone are the alchemists who can turn lead in to gold and everyone else is subjective and suffer from false consciousness.

In fact, I compare them to Digory’s Uncle Andrew in The Magician’s Nephew who though he could control other people by using their values against them to get them to do what he wants, while he himself doesn’t need to follow the rules, and basked in self congratulation of being a “great magician”

“Men like me, who possess hidden wisdom, are freed from common rules just as we are cut off from common pleasures. Ours, my boy, is a high and lonely destiny.”

And while we’re at it and Code Geass is on the table, let me point to one of the antagonists of Akito The Exiled, Gene Smilas

He was the mentor and surrogate parent of Lelia Macal who sought to bring Europe to a brighter future, often invoking the tale of the venerable St.Joan of Arc.

But when the time came to supposedly save EU, did he bet on his own life like the Saint did?

No.

He decided to position himself as God and Lelia as Joan of Arc, planning for her to die as a martyr for his own gain and become Emperor of Europe, because she happened to be a young lady with good morals who wasn't afraid to fight alongside her troops.

Like Uncle Andrew, Gene was nothing more than a peddling magician, but worse, he saw himself as God who controlled Lelila's destiny all while basking in delusions of righteousness in his quest for power. While Uncle Andrew was at least scared straight by Narnia.

To use a description of the Pharisees from the TV Series Jesus of Nazareth(1977) but slightly tweaked,

He bowed before the Story of Joan of Arc, but violated the heart of it.

And that's why I am so irritable about Tragedy in these kinds of stories, it feels like they are no longer enjoyed out of humility, compassion, truth, goodness, and beauty.

But rather out of pride, vanity, power, cruelty, and moral superiority

and sometimes it tempts me want to write my inspired stories in a way that gives them all the finger rather than for what I saw these ideas and concepts could have been, just so I can give them a taste of their own medicine

I know that's wrong, but these people test my patience, especially when they keep invading other people's spaces, bypass other people's "curations" because "there's nothing subjective about this, I need to correct and educate you", and getting away with this kind of nasty behavior

Because they are perfectly “objective” and everyone else is “subjective” therefore “subjected” to their “objective” will.
