Do you have a fic (either yours or someone else’s) that you just always go back to, that you love every single word of, that lives rent free in your head?

I sat on this a few days to think about it, because this is so tough to narrow down. Little bits of lots of fics live in my head, but I'm going to be honest and say I haven't reread many RWRB fics because the fandom is just so active (even before the movie), there are tons of new fics coming out all the time. That said, here's a few that have definitely stuck with me. Also I'm trying not to rec fics I've seen repeatedly mention as must-reads for people new to the fandom. Very non-comprehensive, and I had to cut myself off.

Before I do my list, here is my fic rec tag on my blog (also 'fic recs' because apparently I'm inconsistent), which lately is mostly RWRB fics. Also, check out the @rwrbficrecs blog, which is full of great lists!

to the victor, the spoils by @rmd-writes Lawyer AU, this was the fic I thought of first because I think, of all RWRB fics, this one lives rent free in my head the most.

Screw Your Courage to the Sticking Place (and forget macbeth is a fucking tragedy) by @celaestis1 Canon-divergent, they break up at Kensington, hurts-so-good angst. The end of chapter 11 still haunts me.

Déjame Ver Cómo Es Que Floreces by @14carrotghoul Post-canon, Henry meets Alex's extended family, just pure joy. Also includes my favorite food-as-a-metaphor-for-love trope.

The Perils of Midsomer Residency by @clottedcreamfudge Murder mystery AU, Alex as a detective, hits every beat (when does Hattie not?).

Down For the Count by @welcometololaland Ok this is a deeper cut for sure, but I think about this unusual AU (card counter Alex and poker player Henry in Vegas) a lot.

We’ll Invite Something In by @smc-27 Canon-divergent future fic feat. President Alex and Prince Henry, the buildup of their relationship is so delicious.

The two loves of my life I will never stop recommending:

God Save the Blessed American Mom by zipadeea - On December 4, 2021, an attempt is made on President Ellen Claremont's life. Alex gets shot instead.

This broke me, healed me, and made me fall in love with every character all over again. Everyone's emotions towards the events are so nuanced and realistic, and the writing is soooo stunning. Just make sure to have tissues ready.

but i can count on you to tell me the truth when (i've) been drinking and you're wearing a mask by anincompletelist (soldouthaz) / @anincompletelist - The room goes quiet again, Alex too focused on the sound of his own breathing. He’s already started, he figures, and the person still hasn’t left. But this next bit is a little more personal, and Alex isn’t positive what the parameters are for one-sidedly conversing with a masked stranger about your best kept secrets at a halloween party when you’re so drunk that the floor is beginning to look like it may open up and swallow you whole. Isn’t sure if that might be better anyway.

You know when you read something so beautiful you feel tiny butterflies in your stomach? This is what this fic did to me. Very gorgeously written, especially Alex's inner thoughts. I will never be able to look at my ceiling the same way again, thank you Sarah ♥

The Arrangement by cmere - Shaan approaches Henry with a deal from the Queen: agree to an arranged marriage with a woman to flaunt in public, and he can enjoy the services of a male escort in private. Alex doesn’t actually care about him; it’s just a job. Right?

You Can't Deny Me Anything by Dawg1515 - That night at the Lake House, Henry is getting ready to leave when Alex wakes up feeling sick. Faced with memories of losing his father, Henry decides to stay and take care of Alex. They have some things to talk out.

Falling Down the Stairs of Your Smile by chamel / @cha-melodius - The movie is over and it’s getting late, but all Alex can think of is that he really doesn’t want the night to end yet. Which is crazy. Twenty-four hours ago Alex was actively cursing this man’s name, and now he seemingly can’t get enough of spending time with him. It doesn’t make any sense, but somehow it does; it’s the same feeling that he was chasing all those years ago in Rio, the one that pushed him to go up and introduce himself at exactly the wrong time, the one that made the hurt of that encounter linger for so long in his psyche. (A canon-divergent fic in which Alex spends another night at Kensington after the hospital visit and learns some very surprising things about Henry (and himself)

hi friends I sort of stopped using tumblr the last two months because there's been a lot going on irl!! (I'm trying to return to work after a 2 year break! also generally trying to get my shit together! I tried reformer pilates! I went on a spontaneous unhinged trip overseas to south korea just for fun which is very unlike me and I'm still running off the adrenaline of that decision!)

I'm pretty bad at time management though so something had to suffer and unfortunately it was tumblr/being active in fandom/reading rwrb fics (omg i have so much fic to catch up on) 🥲 tysm though for continuing to tag me in things, and making me feel like a part of the community still 🥺 I did try to come on here once a week to have a look at what I've been tagged in!!

anyway, from now on I'm going to try my best to make more time for fandom (and the @rwrbficrecs blog 😅) because I miss being active here and I have fomo 😂 (also for wip wednesdays/sss sorry in advance if all I have energy for is a post like or a reblog that lacks the screaming/enthusiastic tags I used to do 🥲)

I just finished reading RWRB and was sad because its going to be forever (2 weeks) till the movie comes out until I realized YOU write for that fandom!! I know you from your Tarlos fics and love every single one of them. So thank you in advance for making the indomitable trial known as "waiting" so much more tolerable 💜💜💜!! honestly, there is SO MUCH good RWRB fic out there, I'd be here all day if I listed all of the fic authors/fics I recommend, but my tag with RWRB fic recs is here and I'm going to point you in the direction of the excellent @rwrbficrecs blog for curated lists of fic recs as well.

Some of my personal favourite RWRB fic authors are (and this is a very biased list, they are my friends, I've beta read for them all but for the most part I loved their writing before I "met" them so there is some level of objectivity here):

@indomitable-love (indomitablelove) and in particular, her post-canon universe - no one makes me sob (in a good way) like she does

@clottedcreamfudge (clottedcreamfudge) for her very specific brand of humor, feelings and sex

@everwitch-magiks (everwitch) and her incredible AUs

@three-drink-amy (allmylovesatonce) for Feelings TM of the angst flavour but always with the pay off of a very happy ending (she also writes Tarlos fic, so you may have read some of hers?)

@athousandrooms (athousandrooms) for fluffy feelings and so much love

I’ve read the linked fic and it was great but am very interested in the one you described and wanted to see if you remember the title - it’s the one where Alex and Henry go on a bad blind date and then end up on a ski trip together. So last week was on full chaos. I came to know that my final exams got preponded and now we have only like 28 days to prepare. And last week was full of exams.

So I haven't written much. I am just thinking of ideas to write fics. And I have 2 ideas to write multi chapter fics. I haven't written anything yet for either klaine or FirstPrince.

I am going to modify a one shot to suit klaine and FirstPrince ,so ws have 2 versions.

Well, what can I say? Sorry, Spencer?! 🙈😬 Nothing against you, you're a great guy, really!! But Liam and Pez together... huh, why is this so fitting? And hot? And sweet? And tender? Also hilarious?Their dynamic is absolutely perfect! 🫶

Liam's meets Pez's at a party at the brownstone, and he almost can't believe it when Pez makes a move on him. An eccentric philanthropist with deep pockets and a shy IT guy still hung up on Austin – can it possibly work? This canon divergence wasn't even on my radar, but I was hooked from the get-go! Honestly, the idea of them together just made so much sense in my head as I read the author's notes, and then reading these two stories – chef's kiss. Like so good!! 😙👌

Liam's thoughtfulness and Pez's surprising moments of quietness shine through in both fics, brimming with feelings, hilarity, and a whole lot of smut (it's Pez, what did you expect?) – just iconic. And just for reference, their ship name is 'Southern Philanthropy' - don't you forget. 🤠💑🏳️‍🌈

FAQ

Where are the links? I wanted to have hyperlinks but I have tried to find a solution with no luck. To be taken directly to the fic the link is underneath the title and in this format, “https://fit.ttt/{#}” and can be copy pasted redirecting you to AO3! Only the unique ift.ttt link at the top of the post will take you to the individual fic.

How often do fics post? Fics are automatically put into the queue upon being posted to AO3, they post every hour, on the hour.

Can you help me find a fic? Sometimes, but I recommend visiting @rwrbficrecs with those questions!

Are there fics in other languages? Yes! I try and tag them but have to do so manually so i don't catch them all, but you should also be able to search as it appears on AO3, usually as it is spelled in it's native alphabet.

What does it mean when a link leads to an "error 404"? It unfortunately most likely means that the fic has been deleted. To my knowledge AO3 links are static upon being published so even if between being published and the posting the author orphans or anonymizes the work, the link in the post should work unless the work has been completely removed by the author.

Can I support the blog in other ways? if you feel so inclined I do have a personal ko-fi
