Sur le voyage du retour de Londres à Paris, j'ai lu Nuit Sans Fin encore et encore. C'était un livre très court; juste 9 poèmes étranges, chacun accompagné d'une photo encore plus étrange. Les première et dernière pages se composaient uniquement d'un triangle, un blanc et un noir. Les poèmes décrivaient une sorte de voyage à travers le monde souterrain. Des rituels magiques et une mythologie élaborée qui n'était pas facile à comprendre. Le vocabulaire était très compliqué; beaucoup de mots inconnus ou démodés. 

Par exemple, la première poème, simplement intitulé I:

Pour se réadapter Ces nombreuses hyènes Qui tout blêmit disparaissent doucement

Je ne sais pas comment l'expliquer, mais j'ai compris sans comprendre. Ce livre pourrait révéler quelque chose, mais quoi ? Je ne savais pas. Après l'avoir lu en boucle pendant quelques jours sans progresser, je me suis rendu compte que le nom de l'éditeur était bien sûr mentionné au dos du livre. J'ai trouvé leur numéro de téléphone et j'ai décidé de les appeler.

Oui bonjour, je vous appelle parce que j'ai une question sur l’un de vos livres; Nuit Sans Fin.

Pas de problème, comment puis-je vous aider ?

J'ai beaucoup de questions, en fait. Tout d'abord, je me demandais si vous saviez qui l'a écrit ?

Malheureusement, non. Je ne pense pas que cette information soit connue.

Ah, vraiment ? Tellement bizarre. Mais plus curieusement, il n'y a pas de date de publication dans le livre, c'était publié quand initialement ?

La première édition date de 2017, mais je pense que les poèmes sont beaucoup plus vieux. Il y a environ 300 ans, probablement.

Je ne comprends pas. Normalement, un livre comme ça comprend une sorte d'explication; un avant-propos, n'importe quoi. C'est intéressant que vous l'ayez publié juste comme ça, sans contexte ni sans aucune autre information.

Oui, en fait…(longue pause)

Vous êtes toujours là?

Oui. En fait c’est un peu difficile à expliquer. On est une entreprise familiale. L’entreprise a été fondée en 1869 par mon arrière-arrière-grand-père qui s'intéressait aux livres obscurs et mystérieux. Mon arrière-grand-mère, qui a repris l'entreprise, n'était pas différente.

Mais le livre Nuit Sans Fin est beaucoup plus récent et a sûrement été publié récemment?

C'est vrai, mais les circonstances sont compliquées.

Compliqué ?

Oui, après le décès de Michal, l'entreprise était déjà dirigée par sa petite-fille Ray depuis de nombreuses années. Mais il y avait des instructions très détaillées dans son testament à propos de ce livre.

Des instructions?

Comment le publier, quelles informations inclure, quelles photos utiliser, les photos du livre sont évidemment beaucoup plus récentes que les poèmes. Même la date exacte de la publication.

En quoi est-ce si important ?

1er Février, 2017. Le 555e anniversaire de Jean Trithème, ou Johannes Trithemius si vous voulez.

Trithème ?

Un personnage très intéressant. Il était un abbé bénédictin allemand célèbre pour ses découvertes en cryptologie, pour ses chroniques, mais aussi comme ésotériste.

Quel était le lien entre Michal et Trithème ?

En fait, le premier livre que Mars Éditions a publié était une réédition de Stéganographie, son ouvrage le plus connu. Ce livre se présente comme un traité d'angéologie d'inspiration kabbaliste, avec des explications pour communiquer sur de longues distances avec les esprits. À l'intérieur de ce livre, Trithème cachait de nombreux secrets. Il a effectivement inventé la cryptologie, l'art de cacher des informations.
