Three month anniversary (plus a day) with my dear best friend online, @that-spider-in-gotham ! it's not long, but I hope we can keep up our constant yapping and roleplay!!!! AHAHAAHHAAH

I'm counting since the first time I've interacted with Sage mun, January 30 (from what I remember lmao) I love you so much!

I'm thinking, as a celebratory idea, a mini animatic of Sage and Dick and how they developed into a father-daughter relationship. May be shitty, but hey, it's the thought that counts, okay?

BABY SAGE TEEN DIVUS THINGS!!! Under a cut cause I dunno how much I’m gonna yap.

The whole time Sage could walk and was at NRC, Divus would sleep with her tucked under his arm, that way if they tried to escape, he’d wake up.

He did treat them a little like a fashion doll, with way too many outfits to put on and mix and match. Sage probably never wore the same outfit in the same way twice.

Divus is the one who gave them their first ear piercing, right around their third birthday. It was the only thing they wanted and there was no piercing place on Sage Island so he just did it.

Sage refused to be carried like how you’d carry a normal baby. Divus had to hold them under his arm like a parcel or they’d start crying.

Sage always shared a little bit of their food with him. Even if it was their favorite, they always made sure Divus got a little bite. (The ghosts would always make sure their food was a little bigger)

Comparably, Divus would also always let them try whatever he was eating, if they were eating the same thing he wouldn’t give them a bite unless it made them extra sad.

Sage’s favorite babysitter was Trein, because that came with a cat. He was also Divus least favorite babysitter because he always got a lecture after.

Sage would ‘help’ him study, meaning he would talk problems through at them and Sage would typically just listen and talking it through would help him find a solution. Once they’re a little older, they’d be able to parrot some things back, or little kid logic things and it would be helpful.

BONUS I THOUGHT OF AFTER POSTING:

Crowley had mini versions of the Ceremonial Robes made for Sage, so at all the events where Divus had to wear them, Sage got to be matchy matchy

A question!

I enjoy writing Mini simply for the fact he is mostly nonverbal and doesn’t know anything like traditional sign language which leads to a very unique way of planning my replies through heavy narration and action. But I wonder, since this is collaborative writing, and I want my partners to understand what Mini means clearly, would you rather have me translate his motions?

Here’s an example with both styles:

Actions only:

        Link pursed his lips leading into a pout. His eyes trailed to the floor though his hands twitchily reached for the green cap upon his head. It slid off slowly revealing the frayed blond mess that his old friend used to always nag him over. He stuck his hand through the cap’s brim and crumpled the tip under his fingers forming a puppet with only a mouth to yap wordlessly.

        His eyes shot back up at the other, deep blue filled with solemn wisdom beyond his years. A half-smirking smile replaced the former pout reminiscent of that same old sagely friend who had never truly left him.

In-narrative translation:

        ‘Alone?’ Link pursed his lips leading into a pout. His eyes trailed to the floor though his hands twitchily reached for the green cap upon his head. It slid off slowly revealing the frayed blond mess that his old friend used to always nag him over. He stuck his hand through the cap’s brim and crumpled the tip under his fingers forming a puppet with only a mouth to yap wordlessly. 

       His eyes shot back up at the other, deep blue filled with solemn wisdom beyond his years. A half-smirking smile replaced the former pout reminiscent of that same old sagely friend as if to say, ‘I’m never alone.’

I’ve always tended to do a mix depending on how complicated his actions were. Like the example above, if I had no partner to reply to, I’d probably give the in-narrative translation. If my partner’s response to something like, “It’s dangerous to go alone,” then I’d use the action only. 

But I genuinely am curious what people prefer! Are the actions strong enough to stand on their own? Or is it safer to keep the unspoken-but-intended dialogue in there too?
