i love the minor details in sal's ghost. just UGH the pigtails......... makes me cry. they make me cry, i'll say it. sal dying without being able to tie up his hair like he did when he was a teen, but his ghost form HAVING the pigtails he did?? HGNHEFNHF

it's just. think about it. think about how sad the implications are.

did sal want his childhood, his innocence back? did he want to go back in time so he never did what he did, go back and try again? did he want his family back like he had when he was a teen, but can't because he killed them?

Hey guys, so I got Sally Face recently and was playing it. And so far, I have one major thing to say, and it has to do with the reporter person in Ep. 3 and what she says about Sal being 'afraid of bologna'

She basically says:

"[Something, something, something] because you're afraid of bologna?"

And you have no idea (post playing the ep.) how much I wanted him to have looked her dead in the face and go:

"Ma'am the bologna from my childhood was made from human flesh. I have reason to dislike lunch meat."

Like– what the hell?? I'm sorry, if I found out that eating bologna was cannibalism I'd be weary about it for the foreseeable future, too! Like??? That's like saying "Oh you're afraid of loud noises?" To someone with auditory triggers. He was a KID and the bologna was human flesh for fucks sake – I would imagine that would cause some trust issues with shitty lunch meat!

Like... I naturally just don't like lunch meat, i don't know why... but if I found out a food I like was made from HUMAN MEAT, I'd stop eating it and have issues trusting foods like that. So, it's like what the fuck are you asking that for, reporter??? Sal's issues with lunch meat isn't your business!

( I know reporters are supposed to be nosy as hell... but still :/ )

Also, briefly imagine:

What if he needed special meals for a different reason? What if the bologna thing had been a rumor? Oh boy, wouldn't that have been funny to hear? Much funnier than "Oopsie! You're having people meat for lunch!"

(like imagine for a moment Sal with allergies or diet restrictions)

Obviously that's not why... but still, that would've been a funny alternative to the flesh bologna.

I don't have a good way to list these, so here's some Sally Face head canons I have with no intentional connections. Also, it's not all scientifically sound since it's based on a videogame about ghosts.

Sal

Sal's mask is partially for holding/mimicking the shape of his eye socket to cradle his glass eye correctly. His doctors did a good job at reconstructing his skull, but his age added some difficulties.

Sal has partial dentures

Gremlins is his comfort movie

The tear duct near his glass eye isn't functional, so he can only cry out of one eye

He has the neatest handwriting of the group

He pulls at his hair when he's anxious

He regularly has to get new hairbands since Gizmo likes to play with them.

Larry

Keanu Reeves is his celebrity crush, and only Ash, Sal, and Todd know

He has a bad knee after falling out of his treehouse a few years before Sal moved in

His wallet is usually empty, but he thinks the chain is cool so he wears it anyway

Sal used to tease him for how much he'd watch Robert when he moved in their senior year. He thought Rob was insanely cool and had no guts to talk to him about music until Sal introduced them

His favorite videogame franchise is Zelda and he's played all the mainline games, renting them to play before he buys any.

He knows a little bit of guitar and bass but doesn't have his own and knows it's best not to borrow Sal's too often

Ash

After episode 5, Ash suffers partial hearing loss in her left ear from the lightning

The "power arm" isn't a constant thing and only glows when it's in its powered state, usually just leaving her arm heavily scarred

She enjoys handy crafts, like sewing, and makes "little dudes" out of old laundry and frabic scraps.

She purchased Sal and Larry their own helmets when she started riding her bike most places (unfortunately, Sal was the only one who got to try his helmet, and only the one time)

Ash doesn't believe in them, but she enjoys using tarot cards and used to do it for the others. Chug seems to believe in them, but the rest are skeptical and/or just enjoy the prospect of it.

Todd

He procrastinates getting ready in the morning. During highschool, this translated to waiting until the last 5 minutes before he had to leave to get dressed.

He used to dislike coffee, but Neil made him some, and he discovered it was just the fact his parents drank instant.

Despite the similar look, his glasses between The Bologna Incident and The Trial are not the same pair. He lost the first pair while in the sub basement of Addison and had to get a new pair.

He regularly falls asleep at his desk. It is not intentional, but he does.

He's the main driver of their friend group, since Ash left Nockfell, Sal prefers not to drive, and Larry got his license suspended.

His vehicle is a white van that is a decommissioned news truck. He mostly got it to cannibalize parts from the broadcasting equipment but thinks it's cool regardless.

I was playing Sally Face with my mom right (there is a trend of me showing my mom games I really like) and we got to chapter three and SPOILERS (Minor?)

Okay so like. Travis, right?

I fucked up the dream sequence (which I found out halfway through the dream sequence because good GOD it was spooky AND stressful, also I didn't know what the hell I was doing. Right. So.)

You find his gay love letter in the bathroom, and walk over to the side, and he's in the stall crying. You choose the right dialogue and he gives you an envelope. with Sally's name on it.

And in my case, the envelope is empty.

AN EMPTY ENVELOPE. WITH A TORN UP LOVE NOTE.

I looked at my mom with these big, wide eyes, saying "holy shit was the letter FOR SAL this whole time????"

but after that I found out that there was actually supposed to be something in the envelope if I did the dream right (after getting six of these envelopes and thinking, what the fuck IS this). So theory goes out the window.

YOU CAN'T BLAME ME FOR THAT ASSUMPTION, THOUGH, RIGHT??? I was like, "Jheeze dawg, really? That poor boy has it even worse than I THOUGHT."
