The best coloured foliage from Sambucus nigra f. porphyrophylla 'Eva' (black elder) is achieved when the plant is grown in full sun. The pale pink flowers of early summer contrast with the dissected almost black foliage.

Black Pink Elder III

Three of three in the "series."  They were such a joy this year.  The tree is really huge now, since growing it from the tiniest twig ten years ago.  It even survived being dug up and moved.

I made a few pieces with these flowers. Milky moonstone felt right for the pendants, but I'm always happy to customize something for you. Rose quartz a burgundy garnet would also be a nice match 💕❣️

The only tree seen growing on the abandoned island of Swona, Orkney, was this Sambucus nigra (elder, elderberry) sheltered by a barn. This small native tree develops few branches and has flat sprays of fragrant cream flowers in early summer followed by small black berries.
