thinking abt the AU that lives in my mind where john is azazel's vessel again. like jdm literally played azazel in the pilot and mary would Know what her husband's silhouette looks like, she thought that was john because that was john. john-as-azazel feeding sam demon blood. john-as-azazel killing mary. and that's why he's SO hellbent on avenging mary and curing sam + protecting sam from the supernatural, because he remembers and he feels so much guilt. he's the reason his whole family got torn apart that night. if he'd been stronger, if he'd been able to fight the demon....so, he dedicates his life to avenging mary and saving sam. but he goes to extremes, he takes things too far. he lets these quests consume him because he feel he needs to make up for what he did. he neglects his sons to the point of trauma but paints himself the martyr. he's doing all this for them. he's doing all this to make things right.

i still think the series should've ended with season 5, but i've been rewatching season 6 and it really has it all. Castiel ultimate hubris arc. Dean Winchester ultimate fatherhood failure arc. monster of the week shenanigans. every diagnosis in the DSM represented in Sam. Bobby's there. Crowley's there and he breaks the hayes code 10 times per episode.

So I’m applying to law school and I have to write a diversity statement (basically law schools want to know what is unique about you) and I mentioned this to my mom, to which she said “you can write about your strange family identity. You were always the weird kid and it wasn’t even because of you it’s just because your family is weird” which is true but also now I feel like the singularly most Sam-coded person in all of existence
