How I think changes are represented regarding team RWBY, JNPR, STRQ

Fair warning: This post is loooong

Team RWBY- Outfit's colour pallets

Volume 2 outfits won't be in here cause I think that's a whole different problem

Ruby Rose

-Beacon Arc: Red and Black, this is the start, nothing much to say

-Mistral Arc- Atlas Arc: Add white, her mother colour, this may be because she start to follow her footsteps, do what her mother did, because she believes her mother is the perfect Huntress she needs to becomes

-Prediction: In Volume 10 she will have less white?

Weiss Schnee

-Beacon Arc- The Schnee's colour is white- it represents snow, ice, cold- and her outfit has cold blue, she got away from the coldness of her family, the ice is slowly melt

-Volume 4-5: The blue is now dominate the white, I also think this blue is...bluer than the Beacon Arc's blue, the impact her friends had left on her is so strong the ice still continue to melt even when she's back home even though it's dull and lifeless but BUT

-Volume 6: I never notice this detail until I started to think about all of this. The RED scalf, she didn't have it in Vol.4-5 because she was at home, she was under Jaques' thump again Whitley is too every time we see him he still not refuse Jaquess no red no RED on him. At the start of Vol.6 she's backs with her friends, her teammates HER FAMILY. Wow that made me kinda emotional, anyway enough rambling

-Atlas Arc: Even if she's back 'house' she's still with her real family so she still has that red on her and the blue now is more like ocean too

Blake Belladonna

-Beacon Arc: White, black and a hint of purple. At this point in time her dominant colour is black because she still in her 'From Shadow' phase *wink wink*

-Mistral Arc: This is a, kinda, special situation. Noticeably, Blake adds purple- her Aura colour- to the outfit, still not sure what this means though. But that not all, before Blake had the black to cover the white part of her outfit, but now it's the opposite, you can say she is wrapped in purity.

-Atlas Arc: Another thing to consider is the black on her outfit slowly shift into dark purple/violet-> she slowly step out of the shadow and become her real self. So the black-ish/purple-ish, maybe the black is the White Fang and after Blake's arc in Vol.4-5 it now wraps around her with the white?

Yang Xiao Long

-Beacon Arc: This is a bit hard; Yang colours, as this post points out, are brassy yellow (most likely her hair), orche, brown and black. Here's the problem, her palette doesn't change at all except in Vol.4

-Volume 4: She still has all the colour but is wrapped in grey (Mercury's colour, maybe) and if I'm right, gold can be dissolved by mercury, so that's how her defeated state is represent. Note: when she gets back on her feets, the jacket is gone

-Volume 5- Atlas Arc: The only thing I can say about her changes is that she's no longer the thrill seeker she was at Beacon and has more practical outfit choice

Team JNPR- Weapons

Jaune Arc

-Beacon Arc: Crocea Mors-The hand down weapon of his family, as he's trying to become the warior like those before him

-Mistral Arc: The shield+Pyrrha's crown thingy. The weapon is now more him, and it represent his growth at Beacon but consider himself unimportant

-Volume 7-8: Atlas upgrade. Less that destructive 'I'm not important' thought, more mature as a fight and a leader

-Volume 9: 3 words- the Ever After (and maybe also V8 final)

Pyrrha Nikos

Nora Valkyrie

-Pre-RWBY: A wooden hammer

-Beacon Arc- Atlas Arc: Magnhild-She is no longer that scared little girl back at S but a bubbly enthusiastic pink lightning 'still little' girl but with low self-esteem problem. Interestingly, no Atlas upgrade cuz her arc, changes, growth happen in V8 so

-Prediction: weapon upgrade for Nora in V10

Lie Ren

Pre-RWBY: His father dagger

Beacon Arc-Mistral: StormFlower-No longer the boy who stand by, he now actively helping people but also have problem with suppressing his feeling

Atlas Arc: Atlas upgrade. Ren has changed after his arc in V5, learn to express his emotion more yay [V9 Epilogue] and now he's one who try to keep the team together, good for him

Team STRQ- Outfit

Now is the part where I speculate the most

When we heard story about Summer and every time Ruby remebered her, she wears [pic.1] but when the tree showed Ruby the real Summer that is not perfect she wears [pic.2]

Qrow tried to be better in V7 and to signify that growth, he got outfit upgrade

Tai and Raven hadn't have their outfit changed, but those are what we saw throughout the course of the show

✨Speculation time✨ this kinda stupid so take this with a grain of salt someone pointed put that Raven's arm guards are similar to Summer's, so what if at Beacon one of them had a significant growth and that was a gift from the other *shrug*. Qrow's old outfit had a similar neck to that of Taiyang👀 no one else like that, maybe(?). I think those who changed are more likely the Branwens, yeah

Next batch: team STRQ! aka, the adults, featuring; antlers. Antlers are really frikin cool and half the reason for drawing deer, but holy crap, they are also a royal pain. (team rwby and ozlem)

I am once again begging for the people who work on rwby to learn how to frame shit

Blake chews out Batman for acting like he's alone and then storms towards Arkham Asylum. She walks alone into darkness while he's bathed in warm light next to everybody else

It's so contradictory. If they wanted to properly frame this shit, it should be Blake with her friends and in the light because she's enlightened and Batman swathed alone in shadows. As is, this frames Batman in the right (which he is) and Blake as going crazy

Either the artists rebelled against this shit by weaponizing the framing, like the animators of rwby did multiple times, or everyone who works on rwby stuff gets overdosed on stupid juice

It's been 6 months since jaune join the ace ops and ironwood has been giving jaune more responsibility after seeing the work his done and even gaining the trust of the poeple

Wait, What Happened?

Jaune's finger ran across his breastplate, he remember distinctly where precisely, Tryian had stabbed him with his stinger, and yet he couldn't find so much as a scratch on his armour from his stinger.

: Looking for something, Jaune?

Jaune looked over to see, Winter walking across the locker room towards him.

Jaune: Hello, Winter. I'm just checking my armour.

Winter walked over, and stood next to, Jaune running her hand along his chest piece feeling the smooth mental under her gloved fingers.

Jaune: I'm impressed; Atlas's armour's are quite skilled. If it wasn't for the fact that it was me who got stabbed, I dare say I was never stabbed in the first place.

Jaune finished speaking as he put on his armour, and fastened its straps. After, Jaune checked the snugness of his armour, he grabbed a small black box, and pulled out a silver falcon badge, and placed it on his left coat collar. Winter watched as, Jaune put the badge on, eyeing it with extreme suspicion.

Winter: What... What is that?

Jaune: Hmm, oh this?

Jaune turned to look at, Winter as he pointed to the silver falcon badge.

Winter: Yes, that...!

Jaune: Yeah, I got this from, Robyn Hill.

Winter: Robyn Hill gave you that...?

Jaune: Yeah.

Winter: And, why did she give you this... thing...?

Jaune: Uhh...? It's a token of affection...

Winter: A token of what now...?

Jaune: I-It was a thank you! I saved her from, Tyrian, she gave me this as a gift!

Winter: Then why are you calling it a, 'token of affection...?!"

Jaune: W-W-Well, I'm a knight... a k-knight in shining white armour, and I saved the maiden from a monster... S-so she gave me this badge as a 'token of affection!'

Winter: So, you two were just playing on your knightly stereotype...?

Winter was walking ever closer to, Jaune leading to be place his back against the locker as her ice cold gaze stared him down.

Jaune: Y-Yes...?

Winter gave him a look before grabbing his sash, and tightening it, Before using it to pull him closer to her.

Winter: Then this is my token of affection. That I gave to my knight. Remember that!

Winter: Good... I'll see you in the meeting room, Jaune.

Winter then let go of, Jaune and started walking away, a noticeable sway in her hips as she left. Jaune slowly slide down the locker doors until his butt slumped on the ground as he exhaled a deep breath as he calmed his nerves.

Jaune: Bloody hell...

: Well, that was something?

: Who knew that, Winter could be so jealous. But, for you, Jaune, I can understand why~!

Ruby: What was he in for?

Ironwood: Honestly, Mr. Arc, I'm tempted to order you to some, R and R. The last reports I read did said that you're still fighting off the last of the poison in your body.

A small chortle of laughter echoed through the meeting hall, but it stopped as, General Ironwood started the briefing.

Ironwood: Now then, two days ago we were alerted to the fact that, Tyrian Callows was in, Mantle...

The presentation started, showing a photo of, Tyrian's insane expression,

Qrow: Ugh, not that deranged fucker...

Ren: This isn't going to be good.

Ironwood: Luckily, thanks to, Specialist Arc's recent actions, we will not need to worry about him causing any chaos.

The next photo of the presentation displayed a photo showing another picture of, Tyrian his mouth, and eyes closed, and a purple ring ran along his neck as it was bent at an odd angle.

Qrow: He's dead?!

Ruby: Jaune killed him?!

Weiss: The hell...?!

Ironwood: And, because of, Specialist Arc actions we've were able to acquire several useful items of information's...

The presentation changed to show a photo, and a diagnostic of, Tyrian's prosthetic tail.

Nora: He got a new tail?

Ruby: Well yeah, he had too after I cut it off.

Nora: Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

Weiss: You did what?!

Ironwood: Thanks to the efforts of the, Atlas Corp of Engineers as well as help from, Dr. Polendina we were able to find a... stylistic signature.

Nora: What's that?

Penny: A set of distinctive stylistic choices, be they patterns, methods, or overall designs that renders someone work identifiable from a glance.

Nora: Wha?

Ironwood: This 'signature' was identified to be from someone we thought dead. This man here...

The slide turned to show a photo of a lanky, scarecrow of a man in a white lab coat.

Ironwood: This man is, Arthur Watts, we assumed he died ten years ago in a lab explosion. Since we never found the body, we can now assume that he faked his death. Now, Arthur Watts is highly skilled with cybernetics, and biomechanics. He is not a skilled fighter, but he makes up with his skills in computers. So, while you are out in the field, keep an eye out for, Watts. Watts, and anyone else you may see with him. Any questions?

Several hands among the, Specialist rose up, Ironwood nodded his head in silent pride of his, Specialist incitive to ask questions about their missions.

Ironwood: Clover?

Clover: Since we've identified this man, and we know his specialties, what countermeasures are we implementing to counter him?

Ironwood: We've been beefing up the cybersecurity, and fire walls around, Atlas to prevent him from exploiting our systems.

Jaune: Are you also upgrading the cybersecurity for, Mantle, Sir?

Ironwood: Yes, after the implantations of the fortifications are done, we need to beef up the severally unreliable security systems in, Mantle.

Jaune: Good. May, I ask another question, Sir?

Ironwood: Of course.

Jaune: During the, Fall, the, Atlas's Knights turned on us. Do you think that this, Arthur Watts fellow had anything to do with that?

Ironwood: Hmmm... That is a good question... It is likely theory that it was him who hacked our, Knights during the, Fall. I best order that the, Knight be given an upgrade as well. Excellent observation, Specialist Arc.

Jaune: Thank you, Sir.

Harriet: Wait, if this man hacked, and hijacked our, Knights... Then what's the chance of him doing the same to, Penny? I mean... she may look human, but she is an android.

Silence enveloped the room as everyone turned to look at, Penny as she nervous looked about. Ruby took her hand as she tried to reassure her friend at the sudden realization that she could be hack, and turned to attack her friends.

Ironwood: Hmm... Penny?

Penny: Y-Y-Yes, Sir?

Ironwood: Call your father, I wish to have a meeting with him at his lab, and I will require your presence as well for this meeting. We have... much to discuss about.

Penny: Yes, Sir...

Ironwood: Now, then... Specialist Arc?

Jaune: Yes, Sir?

Ironwood: Based on the fact, Tyrian tried to attack, Robyn Hill, it is evident she has become a target. I want you to go down to, Mantle, and inform her of the situation. Since you saved her from, Tyrian she will no doubt trust you.

Yang: Wait, Jaune saved, Robyn Hill?

Nora: When did that happen?!

Penny: The same day he killed, Tyrian Tallows.

Weiss: When did that happen?

Penny: Three days ago.

RWBYNR: What?!

Nora: Did you know this, Penny?

Penny: Yes, I was there when we extracted, Tyrian's dead body.

Ruby: Why didn't you tell us any of this?!

Penny: ...

Penny: Error...

RWBYNR: WHAT?!

The Specialists, as well as, General Ironwood all stared at the members of, Team RWBY as well as, Penny, Nora, and Ren. waiting for them to stop their impromptu conversation.

Ruby: Eh-hehe... Sorry...

The group finished staring at them before returning to face, General Ironwood, and his presentation.

Jaune: Understood. How much information am I allowed to share with her, Sir?

Ironwood: Only what she needs to know, Specialist.

Jaune: Understood.

Ironwood: Now then, go down to, Mantle, and inform her of what is happening.

Jaune: Yes, Sir! Permission to leave, Sir?

Ironwood: Permission granted.

Jaune got up, and grabbed, Crocea Mors, attaching it to his waist as he made to leave, but was stopped as, Winter made an impromptu request.

Winter: Sir! Permission to accompany, Specialist Arc.

Ironwood: Denied.

Winter: May I ask why, Sir?

Ironwood: You are needed here for information about, Tyrian's prosthetic tail.

Winter: But, shouldn't, Specialist Arc be accompanied by his fellow, Specialist's? After all, it hasn't been a day yet since he was discharged from the hospital.

Ironwood: No, Specialist Arc, has proved himself more than capable of handling himself with, Tyrian; He should be fine.

Winter: But, shouldn't he have someone with him when it comes to dealing with that bitch...?! I mean, Robyn Hill?

Vine: Did she just call, Robyn Hill a, 'bitch?'

Elm: I-Is she jealous...?

Harriet: Wait, does that mean, Winter likes...?!

All the while this was happening, Weiss was a few rows behind her sister losing her mind at the sudden realization.

Weiss: Winter... likes, Jaune?!

Yang: Looks like he did steal your sister away...

Weiss: What the fuck?!

Ruby: Guys the meetings over, we need to ask, Jaune what happened before he leaves!

Yang: Oh, shit you're right!

Nora: Let's go! He's got a lot of questions to answer us!

Ruby: Jaune wait!

Jaune was walking towards the landing pads, and was about to reach one of the bullheads when his named was called out from behind him. When he turned around he saw seven individuals he wasn't looking forward to see. A tired sigh escaped his lips, as he stood before them with his hand resting on his swords pommel.

Jaune: Can I help you?

Ruby: You were in the hospital?!

Blake: You killed, Tyrian?!

Ren: They said you were poisoned, were you poisoned because of, Tyrian's stinger?

Nora: Why didn't you tell us any of this?!

Weiss: Did you fuck my sister?!

Jaune was going to answer their string of questions, but was stopped when, Weiss asked her very deliberate, 'important' question. In fact, her question derailed everyone's train of thought. They all shared a stare at, Weiss who looked back at them all in indignation.

Weiss: What?

Jaune just shook his head, before answering everyone's question, deciding to answer, Weiss's first. She looked like she was about to blow a gasket if he didn't answer her first.

Jaune: Okay, Weiss... Winter, and I... Well... we're not in a relationship... there is something there... but... we're... yeah...

Yang: You have no idea what's going on between the two of you, do you?

Jaune: I have as much as an idea as, Winter does. I mean, I like her, she likes me... She kissed me when I was in the hospital. Other than...?!

Weiss: YOU KISSED HER?!

A flash of steel flew through the air as, Weiss drew her rapier, and pointed it at, Jaune's face. He stared at the tip of the blade, resting mere inches from his face. Jaune watched as, Weiss, was being restrained by, Yang, and Ruby. While, Jaune just nonchalantly pushed the blade away from his face with his finger.

Jaune: Weiss, if you want to know anything about this... situation, then ask, Winter. I'm still not sure what to do with her, and... yeah...

Weiss: Fine... but, if I heard you did anything to my sister, I will gut you like a fish!

Jaune: Noted...

Weiss then sheathed her blade, but was still staring daggers at, Jaune.

Jaune: Haa... Okay...

Jaune: I went to the walls of, Mantle to check on the progress of the fortifications. I learned that members of the, Happy Huntresses caused a small disruption at the wall. I learned about a rally that, Robyn Hill was holding, so I went down to ask her what happened.

Jaune: It turns out that only a few of her followers went down to the wall, they were simply demanding why it was taking so long, Luckily members of the, Happy Huntresses dispersed the crowds. After, Robyn Hill explained this to me, I decided to stick around so nothing happened. Good thing that I did...

Jaune: While I was watching the crowd at the rally I noticed a suspicious individual making their way to the stage. I moved to cut them off, and low, and behold it's, Tyrian.

Jaune: So, we fought, I was mostly stalling for time for help to arrive, and to buy time for the civilians to get out. Robyn stayed behind to help me fight, Tyrian. I learned that, Robyn was, Tyrian's target, so to make sure he didn't kill her I threw my sword at him. This left me exposed, and then he jumped me, stabbed my in the shoulder with his shoulder. He then pinned, Robyn down, and was about to kill her. When I then got up, and snapped his neck, killing him. Then fainted, no doubt from a combination of, Tyrian's poison, and an adrenaline rush. Then I woke up in the hospital a day later. Annnnd, that's it.

As, Jaune finished speaking everyone stopped, and stared at, Jaune in stunned amazement. Several of them, Yang, and Blake wanted to call bullshit, but since had, Tyrian's dead body in a morgue somewhere, it was pretty difficult to deny it.

Yang: Okay... that's a lot to take in...

Ren: All of that happened in a day... half a day at that?!

Jaune: A little less than that, but yeah, pretty much.

Blake: You got stabbed by, Tyrian's stinger, and got poisoned?

Jaune: Yeah, his prosthetic stinger was strong enough to pierce my armour. Not to mention his semblance made a hole in my aura to pierce through it. So, I got poisoned. Least I killed, Tyrian, and saved, Robyn Hill.

Nora: Jaune... W-Why didn't you tell us any of this happened?

Jaune could hear the sorrow, and the pain upon, Nora's face. He looked at her, and gave a tired sigh. But, as he thought of his answer, an interesting question came to mind.

Jaune: I was in a coma for over a day, and when I woke up I was going through medical tests to check for poison in my veins. But, if you want to be upset with anyone for not telling you I was in the hospital, they you should ask her, and ask why she didn't tell anyone I was in the hospital.

Jaune looked past, Nora, and looked towards, Penny who walked back in shock.

Penny: M-Me? Why me?

Jaune: You were there when the, Specialists took me to the hospital, and you were there with me, and General Ironwood when I was giving him a debriefing at the hospital. Why didn't you tell them anything about happened?

Penny: Well I...?

Jaune: Now that I think about it... You've been asked multiple times to contact, and find me, and you didn't, couldn't. You were supposed to invite people to my birthday, but you didn't invited anyone. You forgot about me during the game of hide 'an go seek. And, you've lost my contact data several times when you wanted to talk to me. Penny, do you hate me?

Penny: No, I don't hate you. Hiccup!

Everyone froze as they all turned to look at, Penny as a stunning realization slowly came in.

Yang: She hiccupped...?

Weiss: She's lying, why is she lying...?

Jaune: Do you hate me, Penny?

Penny: No, I'm don't. Hiccup!

Jaune: What did I do to make you hate me, Penny?

Penny: Nothing. I don't... Hiccup! I don't hate you. Hiccup!

Jaune: You know hiccupping is your tell, Penny. We all know you're lying. Why are you lying?

Penny: I'm not! Hiccup!

Jaune felt like, Penny was hiding something, not from him, no she was hiding something from herself. And, whatever it was involved him, but how was the question.

Jaune: You're not angry at me for something I did?

Penny: No, no I'm not!

Nora: She didn't hiccup?

Ren: But, why is she hiccupping?

Jaune: You're not angry at me for something I did... Then... Are angry at me because of something someone else did to you?

Penny: No. Hiccup!

Ruby: Why is she angry at him for something someone else did to her?

Yang: Good question...

Jaune: You're angry at me because of something someone else did to you. Yet, you're taking out your anger on me, and not the other person. You're using me as a proxy because you can't let that person know that you hate them...

Penny: N-No I'm not! Hiccup!

Jaune: Not because you don't want them to know you hate them, but because you can't hate them because... because they're dead...

A silence hung in the air as the realization struck them. Penny didn't hate, Jaune because it was, Jaune. She hated him because he was close to someone who hurt, Penny, and Jaune was the only person she could hurt in retribution.

But, this hate had been shoved away by, Penny's subconscious mind. Deep away that she could no longer remember what, or who it was she hated. But, the memory was not shoved deep enough that she didn't remember the raw emotions of this hate. No, she remembered the pain, the sorrow, and her hatred of the one who wronged her.

As, Jaune's mind struggled to put the pieces together he came to a sudden, and startling realization. The fact that there was only one person who had wrong, Penny, and was close to, Jaune that she could direct her hatred towards him.

Jaune: Pyrrha... You're angry at me, because, Pyrrha, my partner, killed you. And, because she's is dead, you cannot direct that hatred towards her, so you've been subconsciously directing it towards me. So, the reason you've been forgetting about me... Is because you've been substituting me for, Pyrrha, and you don't remember that you hate, Pyrrha. So you forget me?

Jaune smiled as he came to this stunning realization. It was a mad, and an absolutely bonkers idea. But, the worst part about, Jaune's mad theory was that it made sense, too much sense. And, they all knew that it was exactly what, Penny was subconsciously thinking when she started hiccupping like a storm.

Penny: That's not...! Hiccup! That's...! Hiccup! I don't...! Hiccup! Pyrrha, didn't...! Hiccup! I-I-I-I...! Hiccup! Hiccup! Hiccup!

Ruby: Penny? Penny, Penny, Penny!

Ruby, and Weiss rushed forward and, caught, Penny she was stumbling about in a fit of hiccups.

Weiss: She's having a panic attack!

Jaune: Ren, use your semblance!

Ren: On it!

Ren reached over, and placed his hand on, Penny's shoulder as a black wave flooded over, Penny as he breathing calmed down, and became more steadied. As they were all watching these things, Jaune gave them a look before walking back to the bullhead.

Ruby: J-Jaune?! Where are you going?

Jaune: I'm sorry, but I have a job to do. I don't have the time, or the training to deal with, Penny's hidden trauma. And, since I seem to be part of the cause of her trauma, I think it'd be for the best that I leave.

Jaune walked onto the bullhead and grabbed the handle bars on top.

Jaune: I'll leave this... situation to you. Till later then.

As the bullhead started to lift away, Jaune spared one last glance at the group as they all comforted their friend. Jaune couldn't help but feel envious that they showed such compassion to their friend.

But, it anger him, because they never showed such compassion to him. Never.

Jaune was walking down the auditorium as civilians walked around resetting things, some stopped him, and thanks them for saving them, Jaune just told them to thinking nothing of it, he was just doing his job.

But, as, Jaune moved closer, he looked up, and saw, Robyn, and some of her fellow, Happy Huntresses upon the stage. When, Robyn saw him, a wide smile erupted across her face as she came down to greet him.

Robyn: Jaune! You're here!

Jaune: Miss Hill, It is a pleasure to see you are doing well.

Jaune held out his hand as, Robyn came closer to him. Robyn looked at his hand for a moment before remembering to adopt her mask as, Ironwood's political enemy, thus, Specialist Jaune Arc's enemy.

A small smile still spread across her face as she shook, Jaune's hand before adopting a neutral mask once more.

Robyn: It is a pleasure to see you as well, Specialist Arc. How are you doing? I heard you were in the hospital for a while dealing with that scorpion faunas's poison.

Robyn knew fully well what happened to him at the hospital. She went there, and kissed... Checked up on him! No doubt this was just all a political game for the audience to enjoy.

Jaune: Luckily I was able to get to the hospital quickly, and was administered antivenom. I was unconscious for about a day as my body fought it, but bar being a little groggy I am fine. I'm on light duty while I fight threw the last of the poison.

Robyn: I see...

Jaune: Tell me, Miss Hill, how are you doing? Dealing with a near death experience from a psychotic faunas who wanted you dead because your platform wasn't pro-faunas enough must have been pretty straining.

Robyn quirked an eye brow at, Jaune's statement. She quickly caught on to the story he was trying to spread so the citizens present could better understand why, Robyn was attacked by, Tyrian Callows.

Robyn: Ahh yes... Well, you try, and give people something to make their lives easier, yet they still want the world...

Jaune: Did you expect someone like the late, Jacques Schnee to be happy with a just one slice of the cake?

Robyn: No he wouldn't. The greedy bastard would want the whole bakery.

The duo of a politician, and a Specialist as well as several of the people surrounding them shared a laugh. There are many things that divided the people of, Atlas, and Mantle, but shitting on, Jacques Schnee was something that would unite them all.

Jaune: Now then, I need to have a word with you, Miss Hill. It has to do with your recent attack. Alone.

Robyn: Very well. Will you come with me?

Jaune: Lead the way, Miss Hill.

Robyn, had taken, Jaune on a walk to the head quarters of the, Happy Huntresses. Wasn't much of a place really, just a abandoned warehouse with beddings, and what not put into it to make it live able.

Jaune: And, this is your 'secret base?' It's nice... A little spartan for my liking.

Robyn: You don't like it?

Jaune: Nope. It's has about as much life, and personality as your wanted posters do.

Robyn: Wanted posters? HAS, General Ironwood made wanted posters for...?

Jaune: Your political posters.

Robyn: My campaign posters? What are you...?

Robyn turned to look at one of her campaign posters. She gazed at the strong, and proud visage as it presented in her in a...

Robyn: Oh shit... It does look like a wanted poster...

Robyn's body slumped over as she realized the blunder she had just made. Jaune walked by her, patting her should in a comforting gesture.

Jaune: Don't worry, you're worth at least, ten thousand lien.

Robyn: T-Ten thousand?! I'm at least worth fifteen thousand!

Jaune: Yeah, keep dreaming big, Robyn. Keep dreaming.

Robyn: Ass...

Jaune: Haha.

Jaune then walked past, Robyn as he rubbed his head with his hand letting loose a tired, and pained groan.

Robyn: Are you okay?

Robyn walked over to, Jaune, and place her hand on his shoulder.

Jaune: I'm fine... just a little dizzy. Poison is still being purged from my system.

Jaune shook his head as a deep breath left his lungs.

Jaune: Okay, let's get down to business...

Jaune: Your would be assassin, as I mentioned before, his name was, Tyrian Callows. He was sent here to kill you in order to destabilize the relationship between, Atlas, and Mantle.

Robyn: I suppose that line about me not being pro-faunas enough for his liking was for the common folk?

Jaune: A lie yes, but a believable one nonetheless. The White Fang may have been weakened in the rest of, Remnant, but based on the reports I've read there is still a sizeable force here in, Mantle.

Robyn: Really? I thought after what happened at, Beacon, and at Haven Academy they would have been disbanded.

Jaune: Technically they did, that is if you can call a rebranding a disbanding.

Robyn: They rebranded?

Jaune: Yep, the Atlas faction of the, White Fang is now calling themselves the, Ice Fangs.

Robyn: Ice Fang? Not a bad name...

Jaune: Better than the 'Happy Huntresses.' Who came up with that dumb name?

Robyn: Hey!

Robyn lightly punched, Jaune's arm as he laughed at her expense. The smile on her face was radiant as she laughed with him. But, her smile slowly fell as serious face crossed her face.

Robyn: Will he be the last, or the first among many that seeks to take my life?

Jaune: ...

Jaune: It's hard to tell... They might come after you again, so I suggest you keep your guard up. But, they might not come after you; General Ironwood is their main target, there's no doubt about that. Tyrian may have just been exploring, Mantle, learned that you were holding a rally, and that you happened to be there. You could have just been nothing more than a target of opportunity.

Robyn: That's somewhat comforting...

Robyn: You promise you'll save me, from these... shadows in the dark?

Jaune: I swore that I would, Robyn. Arc's don't break their word.

Robyn walked over to, Jaune and gently grabbed his collar as she looked at him.

Robyn: You know... It really is nice to have a knight in shinning armour watching over me...

As she was playing with his collar, she noticed he was wearing the badge she gave him.

Robyn: You're wearing the badge I gave you! It's crooked, may I...?

Jaune: Go ahead. I just put it on today. I think it got moved around when, Winter interrogated me about it.

Robyn froze as she was readjusting the badge.

Robyn: She did what...?

Jaune: Yeah, she saw it, and I explained it how I got it, and why I called it a token of affection, she lost it when I said that...

Robyn: Lost it...?

Jaune: Yeah. She gave me this sash when I join the, Specialist as a present. Then after she learned about the badge you gave me being a token of affection, me being a knight and all of that. She decided that this sash was her token of affection, to her knight. It was really scary actually...

Robyn: A token of affection...? Winter's token of affection... for you...?

Jaune: Yeah... her token of affection for her knight. That's what she said.

Robyn: 'Her' knight...? Jaune...?

Jaune: Y-Yes, Robyn...?

Jaune felt a chill run up his spine, a chill that only intensified as she stared at him with those cool lilac eyes of hers. She gripped the collars of his coat in her hands as she gave him a cold smile.

Robyn: Jaune~! Please tell me what your relationship with, Winter Schnee is~?

Jaune: S-S-She's my superior officer! Nothing more!

Robyn: It's red!

Jaune: What?! You're using your semblance on me, not cool, Robyn!

Robyn: Tell me the truth, Jaune!

Jaune: Okay okay okay! I have a crush on her, she somehow has a crush on me of all people! She's given me a token of affection! That's it!

Robyn: Its red again!

Jaune: Okay, okay! We've kissed, that's it!

Robyn: When did you two kiss?!

Jaune: At the hospital! B-Before you kissed me!

Robyn: What?! She kissed you before me, dammit! Alright then, Jaune... you tell, Specialist Winter Schnee this! We are at war!

Jaune: War? What are you talking abou... MMPH?!

Robyn pulled, Jaune in by the collar for a hungry, and thirsty kiss. As the kiss ended, she bit his lips, dragging her teeth across his lips as she pulled away, as she let out a deep, hungry gasp of air, as she stared at him with hearts in her eyes.

Robyn: We're at war, for you~!

Jaune: F-F-For me...?!

Robyn: For you~!

Jaune: Uh oh...

Jaune entered the locker room for the, Specialist. He hadn't done much today, mostly talking with people, but good gods he felt exhausted.

As he entered the room, he saw, Winter at her locker. She turned, and smile when she heard him enter.

Jaune: Hey, Winter.

Winter: Oh, hello... Jaune...?

Jaune: Something wrong, Winter?

Winter walked over to, Jaune grabbing his cheeks as she looked at his face.

Winter: Is that lipstick on your face?

Jaune: Oh shit! I forgot to... Ahhh?!

Winter fiercely grabbed, Jaune by his collar, a common theme of the day so it seemed.

Winter: Who kissed you?!

Considering this was the third time he had been roughly grabbed by his collars by a feisty. Huntress, Jaune decided it was best to just answer her, less he gets killed, but a jealous woman.

Jaune: Robyn, Robyn Hill did it! S-She likes me, just like you do!

Winter: SHE WHAT?!

Jaune: A-And, she kissed me as her declaration of war to you!

Winter: A declaration of war? For what?

Jaune: M-Me...

Winter: Okay... then the next time you see her, Jaune, tell her this!

Jaune: Tell her wha... MPHH?!

For the second time today, Jaune had been pulled in by the collar for a fierce kiss. Instead of teeth biting his lips, Jaune felt, Winter's tongue invade his mouth leaving a trail of saliva as she broke the kiss.

Winter: I accept~!

Winter lightly tapped his cheeks as she left, leaving a stunned, and very confused, Jaune behind. He panted heavily as he whipped his lips clean of the make up, and saliva from, Winter's tongue. With nothing but, one thought upon his mind.

Jaune: ...

Jaune: *looking up, seeing Raven standing in front of him* I guess you saw what happened? *Groan* I couldn't even shut up when it mattered...

Raven: *Sigh, sitting on Nora's bed* I should have told you about the SDC and who they truly were sooner. *Rubbing her forehead* For that, i can only blame myself. As for Yang... *Sigh* Well, it was bound to come out one day or another.

Jaune: ... I still can't believe it. *Slowly shake his head in disbelief* Weiss... She's a good lass, even if she's a bit stuck up the arse.... *Sigh* I never would have thought she'd come from that kind of family. I thought Blake was exaggerating, but the SDC... They are monsters...

Raven: *shrug* It's the same for you, isn't it? She's from a bad place and so are you, doesn't mean you're bad yourself. *Sigh* And it's not as if we were that much better than them; We traded slaves and killed innocent people indiscriminately just for a quick buck.

Jaune: Not since you took over-

Raven: *cutting him* That's false and you know it. *Looking at him straight in the eyes* The only reason i had the guts to change things was because of you, Jaune.

Jaune: *rolling his eyes* Yeah, right... As if i was that important.

Raven: You saved my life, remember? *Chuckle* The weakest member of the tribe, awakening his aura and semblance for a monster such as myself. *Sigh, looking down* Until that moment, i was merely using you as an excuse to be left alone by Ozpin. *Slowly shake her head, disgusted at herself* I was nothing but a coward, using other people's children as an excuse to leave everyone i loved behind.

Jaune: ...

Raven: *picking up a cigarette from one of her pockets* I've been speaking with Qrow lately. And... I also visited her dad.

Jaune: How did it go?

Raven: *taking a puff, exhaling through the window* Better than expected. Turns out Qrow explained to him my reasons to stay in the tribe. *Sigh, then chuckle* He hugged me, Jaune. Can you believe it?

Jaune: From what i've heard of him from Yang? I can, yes.

Raven: *sad smile* He invited me inside and offered me some coffee... *Rubbing her eyes* I left him alone all these years and he just... Forgave me...

Jaune: But you still can't forgive yourself.

Raven: How could i? I left them alone, Jaune... *Looking at Jaune, a tear slowly running down her cheek* I left, because i feared losing them... And had i stayed, i could have made sure Yang never even thought about becoming a huntress. She could have lived a life without worry... But instead, i choose you and Vernal... *Shaky breath* And i can't forgive myself for thinking i was wrong to do so...

Theory - Who Gets to Kill Tyrian? (and why I don't think it'll be who people expect...)

So I feel like there is a general agreement in the RWBY fandom at this point that Tyrian Callows is NOT living to see the end of the series. That in turn leaves the debate as to when Tyrian might bite it, and more interestingly, WHO is going to get to get the honor of murderizing him?

For the ‘when’, personally I’m of the theory that Tyrian is going to bite it by the end of the Vacuo arc, specifically as part of resolving the conflict with the Crown. As in, the Crown’s followers are pacified, Jax and Gillian (likely along with Carmine) are talked into standing down and surrendering peacefully, Mercury is dragged kicking and screaming into his redemption arc like the whiny little edgelord he is, and Tyrian is killed as part of ensuring that Salem can no longer interfere. Really, I just don’t see Tyrian being involved in the final arc(s) of the story. Simply put, he feels much like Watts and Leonardo before him; a villainous minion of Salem’s that fulfills a role for the narrative and other characters, and is then promptly killed off.

So that now leaves the ‘WHO’, and there are certainly quite a few options.

To begin, we have the option that it seems a lot, if not most people are expecting: Qrow Branwen. And he certainly seems like the most ‘obvious’ example, right? In that he’d both be avenging Clover and settling the little quasi-rivalry that’s been brewing between him and Tyrian ever since their fight in Volume 4. The PROBLEM with this line of thinking is when we remember:

When has RWBY EVER done things the ‘obvious’, or rather ‘tropey’ way?

And more to the point, consider just how consistently RWBY has utterly decried revenge arcs and those who fixate on them. Cinder, Jaune, Adam, Hazel, Neo, even Qrow himself. Time and time again, RWBY has presented chasing revenge as nothing but something that will get you manipulated and lose you everything and probably get you, and possibly others, killed.

Also, has anyone else noticed that when RWBY’s villains die, it generally comes as a surprise to them? That their death comes from a direction they didn’t expect, from someone or something they didn’t consider, or downplayed or underestimated as a threat. Whether it’s Roman becoming Grimm-chow, Adam getting killed by Blake and Yang, Jacques meeting the business-end of Jimmy Child-Shooter’s Irony-Gun or Watts getting Cinder-flambéed, it seems like RWBY villains generally don’t really see their deaths coming.

And Qrow being the one to kill Tyrian doesn’t fit either of those trends. It plays a revenge arc straight, plus I have to image that Qrow Branwen is probably the person Tyrian would MOST be expecting to be able to kill him.

So no, I actually feel extremely confident in saying that Qrow is NOT going to be the one to kill Tyrian.

Moving on to what I feel is a MUCH more plausible option; let’s talk about Emerald and Mercury.

Ever since their scene with Tyrian in Volume 6, I’ve seen it discussed a few times that Emerald and/or Mercury will be the one to take Tyrian down. Especially after Volume 8 showed Mercury now directly under Tyrian’s thumb.

And unlike Qrow, I have to agree that this option does feel at least plausible. It would certainly play well into both Emerald’s efforts to help Mercury and Mercury’s own inevitable villain-redemption. Heck, the pair bringing Tyrian down together could potentially have some parallels to Blake and Yang bringing down Adam.

Though at the same time, there are still wrinkles here. For one, I don’t exactly think Tyrian would be especially surprised or blindsided by Emerald and Mercury? Certainly not in the same way, say Adam was by Blake and Yang at the end. Particularly in how Tyrian essentially tries goading Emerald and Mercury into taking a shot at him back in Volume 6. Sure, Tyrian certainly wouldn’t expect Emerald and Mercury to actually pull it off, but he also seems more than smart enough to not underestimate them either. I almost feel like Tyrian would actually be impressed if the pair actually managed to kill him, perhaps leaving them some twisted words of respect at the end.

Also, Emerald and Mercury don’t really feel like the most interesting options to me? For as much as we may have hyped up any dynamic they have, remember that these three really only have two proper scenes together between Volumes 6 and 8. Tyrian isn’t exactly the nemesis to Emerald and Mercury that Adam was for Blake and Yang.

All in all, I do think we COULD see Emerald and Mercury be the ones to take down Tyrian. I just don’t exactly think they’re the most plausible, and more importantly INTERESTING option.

Now for another contender, we have Cinder. And like with Emerald and Mercury, I can certainly see this happening. What with how we’ve seen Tyrian mock and belittle Cinder over the course of the show.

After all, Watts did much the same and we all saw what happened to HIM in the end. Really, it would be rather fitting if Cinder wound up being two-for-two on taking out a hated coworker after their usefulness to Salem came to an end.

On top of that, I think it’s easy to imagine Tyrian winding up a ‘demonstration’ of sorts to showcase not only how powerful Cinder has become, but also how monstrous via her Grimm-hybridization. As scary as Tyrian is, it would be rather appropriate for him to be killed by a Cinder who has become even scarier.

One wrinkle I do have with this option though is that I have a hunch that we’re most likely not going to be seeing Cinder again, or at least that she’s not going to be coming to Vacuo, until AFTER the business with the Crown is resolved, and therefore after Tyrian is dead. As in, it could be that Tyrian’s death and the failure of the Crown is what spurs Salem into sending Cinder to Vacuo to get the Sword of Destruction herself. Or it’s what finally clues Salem and Cinder into what’s been going on in Vacuo, and in turn learning that Team RWBY is still alive, and therefore reigniting Cinder’s raging hateboner for Ruby and causing her to tear off for Vacuo.

On top of that, I can’t help but think killing Tyrian doesn’t exactly add all that much to Cinder’s character? Like her killing Watts was almost an afterthought, a proverbial cherry-on-top of all her other, far greater victories at the end of Volume 8. Plus, while Tyrian has mocked and belittled Cinder much like Watts did, we’ve yet to see anything like the focus that Watts’ enmity for Cinder got in Volume 8 with Tyrian.

Like with Emerald and Mercury, I can certainly see Cinder being the one to kill Tyrian. However, I also can’t help but think it might not be the best option.

So now let’s talk about the option that I think would be, if not the most plausible, then certainly the most INTERESTING. A character that Tyrian has already tangled with, and even left a mark on him.

RUBY.

I mean, she already took his tail. Why not have Ruby take his HEAD as well?

Speaking more seriously though, Ruby being the one to kill Tyrian actually fits fairly well into the trends we’ve seen of RWBY villain deaths. Namely, it very plausibly blends together both the trends of villain deaths coming from a place they didn’t expect, and showing the self-destructive nature of revenge.

If there’s any one of the heroes that could have conceivably really gotten under Tyrian’s skin, I think Ruby is our most likely candidate. While we may not have seen any direct hints to it thus far, I think it is VERY plausible that losing his tail to Ruby has needled Tyrian a LOT more than he’s let show, and that he actually REALLY wants payback on Ruby.

And while Tyrian may have been able to keep a lid on this fixation much better than the likes of Adam or Neo, I can’t help but think that in a full and proper fight between them, Tyrian could all too easily get tunnel vision on getting payback, and miss the genuine THREAT that Ruby could pose to him.

Which in turn could lead to Tyrian getting all too easily PLAYED by Ruby just like Neo, Cordo, Harriet, Cinder, Ironwood, Neo again, and many more, right up until he finds Crescent Rose buried in his chest. Or perhaps cutting through his neck…

I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a death VERY much in line with so those of so many other RWBY villains we’ve seen.

But that just leaves the question; why Ruby? What does killing Tyrian specifically add to her character? Or provide an interesting death for Tyrian? What actual connection to these two characters even have that would narratively justify this?

Well, let’s consider for a moment all of the parallels we’ve been seeing more and more of between Ruby and Salem over the last few volumes. How Salem is feeling more and more like Ruby’s villainous counterpart.

And then when we factor in Tyrian’s own fanatical loyalty TO Salem…

I think Ruby being the one to kill Tyrian could wind up being VERY interesting indeed.

Imagine a hypothetical fight between Ruby and Tyrian that isn’t some big, epic showdown. At least not for Ruby.

Instead, this fight with Tyrian comes after the better part of two volumes worth of Ruby having to deal with the ever-increasing amount of SHIT that comes with having to essentially unite all of humanity to fight Salem. All while being only one of at most three actually competent leaders/adults in Vacuo (the other two being Robyn and Qrow).

Ruby has spent the last two volumes dealing with grimm attacks, keeping the locals and three different groups of refugees from killing each other, keeping the local headmaster from going all ‘Jimmy Childshooter 2.0’, dealing with some idiotic cult-leader with delusions of grandeur, dealing with her own cult that’s convincing everyone that she’s some big godsdamn messiah, and maybe learning that her parents lied to her and her dad wasn’t who she though he (or rather she) was.

And while Ruby has maintained her compassion and defiant drive to help people, she’s also found herself growing more and more pragmatic, ruthless and even manipulative in her methods of helping others. Basically, we’re seeing more and more of those parallels to Salem.

So now just picture Ruby, having FINALLY gotten the Crown to chill the fuck out, gotten FINALLY talked Jax and Gillian to peacefully stand down and quit all this moronic ‘true king of Vacuo’ bullshit, and FINALLY gotten everyone to play nice together so they can actually focus on stopping evil sexy satan mommy from killing them all.

Then in comes this raving moronic loon with a murder boner threatening to ruin everything.

Simply put, imagine Ruby going into a fight against Tyrian completely and utterly, absolutely, one-million-percent FUCKING DONE with this bullshit.

And so, Ruby kills Tyrian with such an overwhelming display of power and savage ruthlessness that even to his OWN shock and awe, in his last moments Tyrian can’t help but view Ruby in the same light he sees Salem in. To the point that with his final words, Tyrian outright COMPARES Ruby to Salem.

Even if it’s only Ruby and her closest friends who actually hear this, or even just Ruby herself, I feel like this would have a VERY interesting effect on Ruby indeed.

Over the last several volumes, we’ve seen more and more parallels drawn between Ruby and Salem, something I have no doubt we will see further developed in future volumes.

And I think Tyrian would be a very fitting and interesting means to bring Ruby’s similarities to Salem into the forefront and to the attention of both the characters and the audience.

Deidamia(SOD): Huh.

Jaune: Yes. All the Grimm. Wiped. Destroyed. Cleared off the map. Is there a problem?

Jaune: Grimm are deadly creatures. They adapt quickly. And they shouldn't be a problem but-

Deidamia (SOD): Humans?

Jaune: Humans. Absolutely. Like we kind of are the problem.

Ruby: Jaune how can -

Jaune: Ruby a woman- a human woman decided to go against Gods. GODS. Just to get one man back. That led to her being immortal. She then persuaded thousands of warriors. Hunters of the past. Our predecessors to fight off said gods again just because she didn't like what they did to her. All that death by one woman!

Ruby: Um.

Jaune: Then when said man came back into her life, and he saw the monster she became she killed him and probably her daughters. And that was the beginning.

Ruby: …

Jaune: But let's be honest with ourselves, The Grimm only strike when they sense negative emotions. Why is that?

Yang: Who cares why? They're just monsters.

Jaune: You mean the same monsters who knows when to avoid conflict. Can gain enough intelligence to almost become sentient. And the more they learn they become effective killers. I don't think ‘monsters’ are enough words to describe them.

Yang: …

Jaune: And we know why. We are just Creation's creations, we know no longer have anything to do with Destruction. Meaning?

Weiss: Meaning the Grimm are only following the purpose they were made for before our predecessors were born.

Jaune: Which is killing whatever Creation makes.

Ren: And I mean we earn it sometimes and I can't blame them for how fragile the world is.

Blake: I mean -

Ren: Blake before Faunuses we already were divided. And not just by race.

Jaune: Even to this day we have issues and we solve it with mostly violence. Basically the Grimm are just trying to prevent the world from ending again. Or because they were here first and we just started taking shit.

Ruby: Okay I see your point. Once we get rid of the Grimm the world will be at peace.

Nora: Naive child.

Deidamia(SOD): Ignorance.

Ruby: What?

Oscar: Ruby you know once the Grimm are gone there might not be any use for hunters.

Ruby: Not true we can still hold the peace.

Jaune: Yeah, too bad semblances can divide us.

Nora: Like Ruby compared to the average humans, we might as well be freaks. And even if we try, not everyone gets a semblance. Hell a majority of people barely have aura.

Ruby: Damn.

Jaune: And to be more honest, we failed to do our jobs. Like Hazel's sister died because of a teacher's negligence. Cinder turned out the way she is because of poor conditions and no one helped her. We saw hunters who not only failed at their jobs but attempted to sleep with either one of you girls even though they were tasked with guarding a train.

Weiss: Okay besides those amateurs-

Jaune: Those were pros.

Weiss: Who we don't know.

Jaune: So who do we know as failures? Okay, Qrow is a failure. Not because of his semblance but his choices. Man is a damn idiot. He allowed a fall maiden to be on the brink of death and got Clover killed. Why do you think Maria is better than him? James halted the world to make a new tower, only to abandon that idea when Salem arrived. I say his plan was good but our priorities weren’t in order. Like Tyrian, Salem’s minion wasn’t important but Robyn's dumbass Hill was. Why? And Lion sold us out to save his own ass. And who chose them? Ozpin! And don't get started on Goodwitch.

Jaune: Shut the hell up Luigi.

Oscar: He’s not wrong.

Jaune: Basically Ruby we might as well retire cause at the rate we’re going we might as well be the next upcoming villains.

Ruby: F*** you.

Jaune: F*** your mom. Who also died for nothing. Like Pyrrha. At least Penny died saving people.

Nora: Blake, Harriet almost killed thousands of people under Jame’s orders. Hell we almost did that ourselves, remember? Argus? Pyrrha’s home town?

Ren: And Atlas we had way more to do with the situation. Considering we were following team RWBY’s lead.

Well you have to be an asshole to compare the situations because they are completely different.

With Ruby and Tyrian:

Tyrian arrived already attacking them. Then, Tyrian says he's gonna take Ruby, so of course JNR all try to protect her and fight him off along with her. He's too strong, they can't beat him.

Qrow arrives and fights him off instead, to defend his niece and her friends. Ruby sees that they're evenly matched and wants to help her uncle. She starts fighting Tyrian with him, but Qrow's bad luck affect her, so he gets distracted for a second to prevent her from getting hurt.

In that moment of distraction, Tyrian poisons Qrow with his scorpion tail, might as well have killed him (if they hadn't managed to get help in the finale). And also now they don't have Qrow to protect them any longer, he's been weakened by the injure. So before Tyrian starts fighting them again and kills everyone, Ruby cuts his tail off.

Now, the whole Adam and Yang thing at the Fall of Beacon?

Blake and Adam have a fight-- well, he's beating her rather than really fighting, while he keeps acting and speaking like what he is: a toxic ex-boyfriend who wants to get back at his ex. He tells Blake that he's going to destroy everything she loves and then Yang shows up calling out Blake's name.

Adam sees Blake looking at Yang with pure concern and can tell immediately that she truly cares about that girl, that she likely has feelings for her. That makes Adam jealous and also gives him a way to hurt his ex-girlfriend, and basically tells Blake he's gonna kill her first.

Adam then stabs Blake to get Yang's attention. Yang sees it, and obviously she jumps in to fight him, without any knowledge of who Adam is or what he is capable of, because he had just stabbed Blake and Yang wants to defend her.

Adam cuts Yang's arm off and then proceeds to go toward Yang to kill her while she's unconscious, but thankfully Blake gets there first and gets Yang out of there.

So, you see, Ruby cut Tyrian's tail off (not his arms or his legs, not even the full tail, only the deadly part) to prevent him from continue to fight her and her friends and kill them. It was an act of self-defense. Adam cutting Yang's arm off was not self-defense at all. It was the act of an abusive ex-boyfriend who was jealous and wanted to hurt and punish his ex-girlfriend for leaving him. So, no. They're not the same. Not even the slightest.

Also let's be real here, if Yang was there instead of Ruby she would have cut Tyrian's tail off without hesitation too.

So, I’m thinking about it, and…I’m not sure if Blake has never had a true, proper, solo song. A musical theme all her own.

From Shadows should be it, obviously, but…even as it’s her musical theme, I don’t think the song as a whole is actually hers. Because the lyrics and more intense instrumentals and just…everything after the beat drops is so clearly not Blake. It’s Adam. If not his voice, then his influence on her.

That’s not to say nothing there was Blake’s. The piano at the beginning and end of the song — before Adam appears and after Blake leaves him — are clearly her own style. Her own motif. But…for the most part, when that song recognizably reoccurs, it’s not for Blake alone, but for her in conjunction with Adam. It’s in the context of their toxic, abusive relationship and the way he corrupted her worldview.

Like Morning Follows Night is definitely more about Sun as Blake’s supporter and interlocutor — I mean, we don’t really learn much about him in canon outside of his relationship with her. But that’s still ultimately a song about Sun as Blake’s supporter (and, within the rap part of it, his unrequited crush on her). Yes, part of it is her processing/being called out on her own issues and trauma, but that’s still done largely in Sun’s voice.

Wings is…tricky. It’s clearly about Blake, but I don’t think it’s her own perspective at all — it’s either Weiss or Yang (depending on the interpretation, though given when it occurs in the actual show I actually think Weiss is the likelier suspect) talking about and to Blake. And I don’t think it’s exactly a complete picture.

Similarly…BMBLB and All That Matters are Yang, singing to or about Blake. And she’s coming at it with her own emotions and perspective, meaning that while Blake is part of the song it’s not her song. Not hers alone.

Nevermore and Worthy are literal, explicit duets, and Treasure still has room for ambiguity in whether it’s Blake or Yang or both of them together. (Wow, the Bees have a ton of songs.) Blake has a voice for sure! But it’s not about her alone.

…writing this made me realize how while Blake may not have a single solo, she’s still very well-represented musically. There are so many songs Blake has where she’s dueting and/or sharing the themes with someone else! I think that’s a reflection of both her multitude of interesting relationships and her role as a leader in her own right. But more on that part later.

Touch the Sky from Volume 7 is probably meant to be for Blake, but like…not distinctly, not beyond a doubt, and not with any specificity. You COULD read it as a Weiss song just as easily. Hell, it applies to everyone among the main cast to an extent. Which makes it hard to argue that it’s a Blake solo song.

And from the same Volume’s soundtrack…Brand New Day is absolutely Blake’s, specifically, but she shared it with Qrow. It’s about how both of them are changing and lightening their worldview and feeling freer. And again, could technically apply to even more people. But it’s explicitly at least two of them.

But there’s one duet that I still think is Blake’s first and foremost — This Time from the Volume 5 soundtrack.

It’s definitely got a heavy presence with the male vocalist/lyrics as an interlocutor, but first and foremost it’s a resolution to the issues Blake has been wrestling with. She’s putting her past with the White Fang behind her and instead is organizing a new Faunus rights movement.

Some people do argue that the interlocutor’s identity is ambiguous — which I disagree with, I think it’s definitely Ghira, since Sun isn’t actually very invested in the Faunus rights storyline. (Probably a symptom of him being from Vacuo, where no one can afford to be racist.)

But Ghira being the accompanying support and backing vocals for his daughter does work well with RWBY’s themes of legacy and generational trauma and making things better for those who come next. Ghira is back on the wagon because his daughter inspired him to get there — Blake’s not subsumed in the duet by any means.

I would still very much like to see a proper, complete, solo Blake song at some point. But I worry the ship may have sailed by now. She’s reached…maybe not an endpoint, but she’s getting close to fully realized and confident in terms of character development. Plus, I suspect her romantic relationship and the Faunus rights movement are her next major plotlines, both of which don’t much lend themselves to solo ballads.

…but also, a lot of Blake’s songs are also Bumbleby songs, and I can’t say I’m mad about it.

FairGame Week day 3:

Duty/Honour | Coffee

A sleeveless arm rests on top of a water cooler, muscles flexing as it bends.  Qrow stares, earning a quiet hum from Clover.  Red eyes snap back to his face. 

"I've been meaning to ask you," Green eyes dance between Qrow and the floor nervously. "Did you maybe want to grab a drink sometime?" Qrow stiffens.  He doesn't want to disappoint.  Not Clover, but especially not Ruby and Yang... not again.

"I- uh..." His ringed fingers brush the back of his neck, and he offers an awkward chuckle. "Don't really drink anymore.  I'm sorry."  Clover tries to keep his mouth from falling into a frown.  All of the flirty comments, suggestive conversations... was he misreading them all this time?

"No, it's all good!" He offers a smile, his gaze dropping to the floor.  A moment of silence passes over them. "Would... would you like to get- uh, coffee sometime?" He lets out an exhale before continuing with a chuckle. "Or was that a hint that I failed to pick up?"

Qrow's eyes widen. 

"No, no- Brothers, I'd love to." He tries to hide a smile that begins tugging at his lips.  They would have gone sooner if he hadn't been too afraid to ask himself.  He's relieved Clover did it first, though the feeling's accompanied by a twinge of guilt.  "I think I'm free tomorrow?" He offers.  Clover grins with a response.

"I happen to be as well." Qrow gives a short snicker,

"Well, that's lucky, huh?" Clover bites his lips together before parting them with a sly smile.

"Heh, it should be... I'm sure Ironwood wouldn't mind."  Qrow laughs, a rough melody that lands softly on Clover's ears.  Brothers, we wishes he could bottle the sound to drink later; record it and replay it on loop.  Surely, that must be normal to feel about a friendship, right? Although, he's not one to lie to himself.  Their friendship evolved into something more quite a bit ago.  Casual conversation in common areas turned to late night talks in one another's room. Sometimes one would even wake to find the other, but they'd both be too flustered to say anything more than a thank you for lending a blanket and a pillow.  Clover looks down to his scroll, which chimed in his pocket.  

"Well, I guess I'll have to talk to you later."  He says, straightening himself up with a sigh.  "Duty calls." He gestures to his scroll by giving it a light shake in the air. 

"Right. I'll uh, see you around."  Qrow watches him walk away, admiring everything about him: his movement, his hair-- and his muscles as he smooths it back, the shape of his clothing around his body--

"Subtle." A familiar voice chirps from a little down the hall.  He turns to see his yellow-haired niece standing there, one hand on her hip.  Qrow lets out a scoff and she starts walking towards him.  "Y'know, nothing bad would happen if you just told him how you felt." Qrow leans his back to the wall.  "Most of Atlas can already feel the tension between you two."

"You're one to talk, firecracker." He teases with a smirk.  "Should I go get Blake?" Yang rolls her eyes and they both sit down on the floor.  They sit in the same position, legs bent with arms resting on their knees.  

"Oh, shut up.  You know I'm right... And you wouldn't dare."  They both laugh.  Getting unwarranted relationship advice from his niece isn't exactly where he wants to be in life, but so far where has he ever been that he's wanted to be?  Besides, he's grateful to spend the time with her.  They both-- her and Ruby-- have grown up so fast... faster than they should have.

"Well, we're apparently going out for coffee tomorrow, if you must know." Qrow tells her. "He asked if I wanted to grab a drink, but I- well... you know-" Yang smiles and gives him a gentle nudge.  

"I'm happy for you." She looks to him, his gazed fixed on the floor a moment longer before shifting to meet hers.  "And I'm proud of you.  I know Ruby is too."  Something pulls in his chest and he almost starts crying right there.  He swallows the rising ball in his throat.  It burns like the whiskey he gave up long ago.

"Thanks, kid." He wraps an arm around her and she hugs him. "I love you." She squeezes. 

"I love you too."  They both close their eyes a moment before she lets go.  "Well, that's enough feelings for me.  I should get going." Yang grins, Qrow chuckles.  "Plus, I told Blake I'd hang out with her tonight." A black brow raises above a red eye.  

"Yeah?" Yang stands, scoffs, and looks back towards him. 

"Oh, don't give me that look-" 

"Nothing bad would happen if you told her how you felt." He teases, tossing her dropped advice back to her.  She responds with a very thoughtful one-finger gesture as she descends down the hall.

"I'll think about it." She gives him one last glance before disappearing around the corner.  "Oh, and good luck with your date!"  She yells.  Qrow winces and curses, looking around to make sure nobody was within earshot.  Not that nobody knows or, at the very least, suspects.  With the shared glances and whispers between the Ace Ops and the hushed giggles between the kids, he's honestly surprised no one's said anything yet.  He sighs and stands, making his way to his room to call it a night.  Without Clover, unfortunately.

Dull crimson eyes blink open to the sound of gentle knocking, greeted by bright yellow sunlight dispersed through the room.  Qrow yawns, laying on his bed a moment before throwing the warm blanket off of his body and making his way towards the door.  Another short knock sounds before the door opens to Clover's fist raised, which he quickly shifts to a hand running through his hair that falls to the back of his neck.

"Hey, oh- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you."  Qrow blinks the remaining sleep out of his eyes.  Clover tries his damned hardest to keep his gaze on Qrow's eyes, but they both catch it slipping downward to his bare chest every few words. "It's just I uh- It's like half past noon, and I wanted to ask you if you still wanted to grab a coffee? Maybe a bite to eat, too?" Oh, Brothers.  One day off, and Qrow's already sleeping in hours past his usual waking time.

"Oh shit, I'm so sorry I didn't-" He gathers himself with a breath.  "Yes, I still want to." Clover grins, a noticable few inches dropping from his shoulders. 

"Don't worry about it, I'm glad you got some rest."  A small smile and a creeping blush takes over Qrow's face.  He clears his throat.

"I'll uh- be a few minutes?" Clover nods.  "Again, I'm so sorr-" A finger on his lips silence him, though quickly retracted.  Qrow blinks and closes the door.  Men stand on either side with faces coloured a bright red and thoughts racing a hundred kilometres an hour.  After a few moments of replaying the previous one, Qrow hastily grabs his clothes from drawers and begins dressing himself.  He then disappears into the bathroom connected to his room, greeted by a tired face with messy hair in the mirror.  Cold water runs to be splashed in his face and to wet his toothbrush.  Minutes pass of tampering with his appearance before he looks and feels acceptable enough to meet Clover, rinsing the stickiness of hair gel off his hands first.  He rushes back through his room, grabbing his scroll on his way to the door.  It opens to reveal Clover with his hands in his pockets, looking down and twisting his boot on the floor.  He looks up with a smile.

"Hey." 

"Hey." Qrow echoes.  "Sorry to keep you waiting." He steps into the hall, closing his door behind him.  They begin walking.

"You apologize a lot." Clover notes.

"Sorr-" A weak chuckle escapes Qrow.  

"Well, you don't have to be sorry for anything."  Clover offers a reassuring smile, Qrow rubs the back of his neck.  They make their way down hallways into a rectangular area.  "Stairs or elevator?" Qrow responds with a point of his index finger, and they walk towards the closed doors of a lift.  He looks to his left, to the side profile of the handsome brunet beside him whose gaze is fixed on the closed shaft but whose thoughts are elsewhere.   With a ding, the door parts open and interrupt the words of Marrow and Elm, who exchange glances between the two standing in front of them and then each other.

"Excuse us," Marrow says with a smirk.  The duos swap places; Elm and Marrow stepping out with a smile, Clover and Qrow stepping in.

Silence fills the small elevator, closing the already tight space around them.  Touching hands help fight against the walls, a speechless communication to help break the silence.  They reach the ground floor.

"So, uh..." Qrow begins.  Damn, this is awkward.  Still, it's always pleasant to him when it's with Clover.  Though, doubt that he feels the same way tugs at corners of his heart and mind. "Where to?"  Clover's gaze is fixed ahead.  He shrugs as the doors part open once again.

"I guess I should've thought about that when I asked you, huh?" Qrow smiles. "Well, there's a few cafes around here." Clover lists off different coffee shops, tea houses, and bakeries scattered through Atlas as they step outside into the city.  Qrow's already heard of them all, but he wouldn't even dream of stopping that beautiful voice from speaking.  Besides, it gives him an excuse to stare at his lips as they form various shapes.  "What do you think?"  It took a moment for Qrow to process the question, shaking off the thoughts that conquered his mind. 

"Oh. I- I'm fine with wherever you wanted to go."  Clover tilts his head to either side, weighing the choices in his mind.  He looks up to his right and points.

"How about here?" Qrow looks over to see a small but comfortable coffee shop, various plants in the window, highlighted by dimly lit warm overhead lights.  He nods, smiling and turning to green eyes, anxiously staring.

"Looks good to me..."  He hesitates before continuing, with fear that he might be coming off too strong with what he says next, "as long as I'm with you." A smile pulls at two sets of lips.  A red blush rushes over Clover's face, so hot he has to turn away briefly.  Qrow takes notice. He doesn't tease but rather takes silent pride in his flirtatiousness.  They turn towards the door, and Qrow parts it open for Clover to step inside.  

It's not very busy inside; only two baristas working the cash register and drink machines and customers scattered throughout tables, chatting with a diverse range of food and drink in front of them.

They take an empty seat, not too close to the window but not too far from the bar.  They both look to the table before each other.  

"Any idea what you want?" Qrow asks with an awkward chuckle.  Clover shakes his head with a smile.  "Yeah, me neither."  Of all the first dates he's been on, they've never been this... uncomfortable?  This... intimate, before.  With a deep breath, he finally musters the courage to say,

"Listen, I uh-"  He swallows a lump in his throat.  Clover tenses.  "I'm sorry I haven't been the most direct, and if it hasn't been obvious..." Green eyes shine as his head tilts to listen.  Qrow repeats to himself what his niece told him the night before.  Nothing bad would happen if you just told him how you felt. "I'm uh- interested in you." He blurts, becoming flustered with anxiety masked as regret taking over him.  Clover can't help but smile.

"Oh thank the brothers."  He sighs, his hand hesitantly reaching for Qrow's.  Fingers interlock.  He closes his eyes briefly, correcting himself.  "Sorry, I- I'm interested in you too... Have been for a little while, actually."  Grins take over their faces as relief and something... new takes over their minds.

"I am paying for you, though." Qrow says, eyes locked on Clover's who responds with a protest.  

He silently thanks both the brothers and the sun shining brightly in his heart from the night before for giving him the courage to say the words he's been meaning to say. 

Clover recognizes this is more than just his luck, but love, that has landed him in this moment; regardless of how early it may be between them.  

They spend their afternoons sharing laughs and forming memories over the warmth of coffee.

I was drunk while writing half of this, so I'm sorry if there's any typos or smth doesn't make sense. Im definitely happier with this than I am with day two, though.

Whenever Qrow has a PG rated story to tell, The kids gather around him and listen to all his past missions and stories. Always amazed and wowed everytime.

Your home life is warm, bright, although loud and chaotic at times. You and Ruby wouldn’t change a thing.
