“Hey babygirl, how have you been? Hmm? Happy Birthday! Woah, I can not believe it's, it's already, uhm, nineteen years. Well, fifteen, here and now, but, when it reaches… Yeah, just- I'm sorry. I can't be there, and, uhm… I'm sorry, for, for all the previous ones-
…
Listen, I love you, okay? So much, and I know, I know, you are an amazing woman. The most amazing woman in the world. And I am so, so proud, and- I know, I know it can't be easy, I know it isn't easy. But- but I also know you are amazing, and, and fierce and smart, and, ha! You will be… the most amazing gift to the world, I can promise you that.
…
I've talked to Neytiri about you, she, uh, hum, she agrees you are awesome, and uh, I promise you, that's a huge thing… She still calls me baby, and stupid, so, yeah. But, but they, uhm, they trust me, they really trust me, I think…
…
Everything… Everything I do, I do it for us, right? You, and me… earth, uh, society, you know… I want to… I want what's best, and uhm, what I do best, and, uhm, haha,... Sorry, my point is, I am doing my best, and what, what I was brought here for, uhm, Tommy, Tommy's… Well, balance, right? I'm a scientist! I thought I'd always be a marine, nothing but a marine, so… Tommy was the brain, so yeah, I'm, I'm stupid sometimes, am I not? My bad, haha, uhm, yeah… I think of what you said, all about me. That I'm strong, I'm brave, uhm, I'm funny, no?... 'I am with a big biggestest heart', right?... Yeah,
…
Right! So, as always, I gotta run, okay? Its been absolutely crazy since I got in, inside, I mean. Gosh I hope they don't edit that out, hmm. I'm sorry baby, but we'll talk again, okay? I am always waiting for your messages. I'll love them! Baby, absolutely... So uh, wait for me, okay? We’ll meet again. I love you, bye.
[
A new video entry will reach you in 15 days. Remember to present yourself at the sap center from 09:00 am to 16:00 pm. Follow the detailed instructions at the end of this message. Remember you'll only be authorized to access the video for 5 days after it is available at the center-

You skipped up the entry stairs, the peeling cement wearing out further with the rain. You entered the reception, not quite dripping, but close, your skin tingling, your ‘recent’ scars almost burning. The two men at the desk looked disapprovingly at you, you rolled your eyes and walked through the scanner, already gathering everything inside your bag.
Your phone, watch, wallet, and book, you put it all in one of the lockable cubicles, walking ahead, again through another scanner, smaller this time, only your ID in your hand.
Finally, the door, made of opaque glass. You swapped the card against the reader, waiting for the beep, but nothing came. You tried again, and again, but the door to the room didn't open. You waited a minute, then five, swapped your ID again, nothing happened.
Nothing like that had happened on your four previous visits, and the whole building was too fancy and new, to not be fully functional.
You walked through the hall, back to the reception, combing your wet hair with your fingers.
“Evening” You greeted, resting your forearms on the high, glass desk, holding your ID, “It seems there's a problem- the door won't unlock”
“Evening” said one of the men, the taller one, already grabbing your card, the glass glowing where it rested now. He tapped away, waited, tapped again. He frowned.
“What? What is it?” you asked. He read in silence for a bit longer “You are not authorized-” “Yes I am, this is my fifth visit, done it for months.” You immediately defended. In no way would you let this stupid crap keep you away from him.
“Right… Well, there is no message-” “Yes it is. It landed a month ago, to be available today, twenty-five” Your voice turned exasperated, and they sure noticed.
“Did you get the confirmation a week ago?” The shorter guy asked. No, you hadn't.
“What does it have to do? It is to be unlocked today, I'm sure”
They looked at each other “If there is no confirmation-” One of them started. You rolled your eyes, walking fast, back to the cubicles. Losing the half hour deposit, you took everything out, too fast, the book slipping and slamming heavily against the floor. You picked it up, securing everything, your heart slowly but steadily accelerating. It was unthinkable.
You handed them your phone, the mail with today's appointment on display. The taller guy read it, thoroughly, confirming, typing once again.
“It's… You don't have a message” He finally said. Your ears ringed
“So what? Am I too early?” You asked. You knew, didn't you…
“There is not any messages issued to you, ma'am”
You scoffed, snatching your phone back. “What's that supposed to mean? Whats this, then?” You asked, shaking your phone in the air.
“There’s been an error” He shrugged.
The RDA didn't do errors.
Jake had been sending messages every three months or so, he had promised. And without any rectification or new notification, that would make it at least five without him. He wouldn't.
“You are wrong” You stated, “Check again”
And he did, scrolling back and down again. “I told you, ma'am, there isn't anything issued to you, not now, nor next to arrive”
You realized how hard you were breathing, taking a long deep breath to calm yourself. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe Jake was just taking a little bit longer, maybe he had planned for it to arrive on Christmas. There was time, just enough, one month or two months, without anything.
You stared at your book ‘Pandora’s brain: Introduction to the life and ecosystems of the moon. By G.A' said on a twisted and torn cover.
You had rushed here, on foot, on train and on taxi, of the three hours in total that you had requested free, two were just to the ride.
You could call later, use a request format online- better than wasting your time here with these useless people.
The RDA didn't make mistakes. Especially on something as curated as the avatar program and anything related to it. Had they censored the message? Did it need longer clearance?- Whatever, you'll retrieve it sooner or later, better probably from base, pulling rank and strings.
“Okay, uhm, I request to watch another, one of the older ones” The guy nodded, typing again “That'll be 350”
Three hundred fifty. A shiver ran down your spine, muscle memory. You shook the feeling, you had enough money now, more than enough.
With Jake's messages, finally, arrived the payment. It was a lot, you didn't know if it was half his payment, or all of it. You believed the latter.
You were saving, rightfully, with all your might, for his return. Still, this was an emergency. You wouldn't leave this place without seeing him again, no matter if in an old log.
You slid your credit card across the table, looking in your phone for the entry number. It'd be the previous one, the fourth. The closest thing to a birthday present from him in almost eleven years.
You had been thinking about said video, quite a lot, since you first watched it. Jake had sounded a little bit strange, cryptic, almost, by the end. Not like pieces had been cut out on clearance, but like he, just him, couldn't put it into words. Or lying, that too, with his mouth randomly opening like a fish.
You looked up, ready to request by the number, but the guy had a strange face, a heavy frown, and still typing and looking up and down. You frowned too, “What?”
“Uh… Well, it seems, there isn't any messages”
“What?”
You didn't raise your voice, but it sounded grim.
“There isn't any entry. At all”
He had to be lying. Fucking with you for fun. From the begining.
You snorted, “Right, What are you fucking saying? Huh?!”
He shook his head, still looking at his com “Nothing for you, ma'am”
You scoffed harder, other visitants and one door guard turning their heads.
What are you even fucking saying?!” You worded condescending, raising your fisted hands “I am asking to rewatch something that we both fucking know, is there!”
“Ma'am,” He started again, raising one hand. You could scream.
“There is not-” “What? They disappeared? They got deleted?” You accused mockingly, but the sole idea felt like a bucket of ice cold water. Everything. Everything you finally had after a decade-
“I'm not asking, I'm demanding, boy, to show me the damn videos!” You yelled.
“What's the problem?” Asked one of the guards, walking closer to you.
“What the fuck did you do?” You accused, “You think you can just- that they just can- erased- !” Words were escaping you.
His first words after waking up, his first time walking outside, his apologies, his ‘I love you’. His ‘happy birthday’, the only one you had hoped for all these years.
“Fucking fix it!” You yelled “Bring someone, now! Recover them!” Fucking-” Someone grabbed your arm, the guard, asking you to leave. You got out of the grip, violently pushing him backwards
“I'm a fucking marine, asshole! You- you think you can take them from me?!” You reached and grabbed the type guy across the desk, holding him by his jacket collar.
“You think you can just fucking tell me that you lost-” You felt a buzz sting on your neck, close to your shoulder, familiar enough. You faded to the ground,
***
You worked in silence, focused, digging another hole on the training dirt patio, surrounded by chatty newbies.
Two more Sargents, you had recognized, Rutia, on discipline more often than not, and Meyer, probably for a fight, judging by her black eye.
No arrest or charges, just a ridiculous fine, that, now, you could easily pay. Lt. Reddy had been understanding, disappointed, maybe, but assigning you barely hard shit like helping fix the patios.
If anything, the worst part was the headaches, crying every moment you were alone and at night, like you hadn't cried since Bianca.
You had been restless too, the last two days, calling and emailing the local RDA branch nonstop, -given you had been banned from stepping in the center until further notice-
'It's such a massive network', your friend Becca had said, things can disappear and appear again. All that space data… not even the RDA could flawlessly control it.
It still felt too odd, too damned wrong. You were terrified.
What if nothing happened, and all came back to normal in no time. What if, then, you lost all contact? What if it was all radio silence until he came back. What if you could not send him more messages, and the ones you already sent never reached, and he'd thought it was just you being angry-
You were, oh you were. But twelve, fifteen years, until he landed back on earth… Your hands clutched the shovel, your breathing started shaking
No. No, just no. You'll hear his voice again, you'll send him more ultra censored messages. It didn't matter. Just something, anything!
***
Three more months passed, Christmas and New year, Bianca's memorial and San Valentin.
It was too though.
You had only made it a couple of times, those stupid logs, but how you missed telling Jake about your life, knowing that it'll reach him. That you existed.
You had been to angry at first. Not just at him, but at how little you could express. Nothing ‘deemed stressful or distressing’ would be delivered to the workers.
So you couldn't rant for hours how much you hated him and how terrible he was. If I cant tell him my hate, I might as well not tell him anything.
And like that it had gone, more or less, on your first, second, and third video. Shallow stuff, cordialities of nonsenses. Hoping he could read between the lines all your heartbreak.
The prospect of losing it- knowing that you could, surprisingly, lose him all over again… You wanted now nothing, but to tell him how much you loved and missed him and tell him about the weather.
Whatever, you just wanted him back. And you were counting the days back to his return, even if without a date yet
“I’ll sleep for almost twelve years, so, basically, we are going to be the same age, hmm? Bizarre, no?” He had pathetically tried to cheer you up before his departure.
“You, uh, you could punch me! How about that, huh?… and I'll deserve it, baby”
You will, as hard as you fucking can. And then you'll hug him, clutch him, and never let go.
A notification finally arrived. Empty and vague. But oh how much pace it gave you. At least they had recognized something had happened, and your messages wouldn't just be silently lost forever
Then, things moved way too fast.
By the end of February, RDA people showed up at base. Not unusual, except this time they were looking for you specifically.
Your superior had told you to go to your quarters, that you had visitors. Except you didn't have anyone, not outside of base.
You sprinted to it. It had to be about Jake.
And it was.
A woman and a man, both in black uniforms, were standing by your bed, arms crossed and looking around. Two more men were around, opening drawers, bags, revolting the bed covers and even checking under the furniture.
“What- What are you doing?!” You asked. The woman and man in uniform looked at you, the woman greeting you with a curt nod. “Miss… Sully” She said. Some distaste in your last name.
You were still getting used to it, yours for barely two years. No one had ever said in such accusatory way. You wished you could answer her back, look at her with disgust and spit her name -Delgado- said her badge
“Yes?” You said without further bow, finding no indicative of their ranks
“Please” Said the man, Mancini, gesturing at the door with his hand, already starting to walk your direction.
You laughed and frowned, pointing at the two men ransacking yours and Becca's stuff “What the hell are they doing? What is this?” You asked. Mancini continued walking outside to the corridor. Delgado firmly pushed you by the back, guiding you outside as well “Of course, we’ll explain to you” She said.
Once in the hall, Delgado closed the door, she and the man almost cornering you against the wall.
“Miss Sully, this is Lt. Mancini, and I am Colonel Lily Delgado” Shit “What has Lt. Reddy told you about your situation?”
“Situation? Uh, he just said I had visitors. What-”
“Right. Well, you may know we are assigned in representation of RDA affairs on earth, particularly the research division. Avatars and the such, if you must” You nodded enthusiastically.
“A couple of months ago, there was a ‘disruption’ with your, uh, correspondence, with Jake Sully, is that right?” She asked, with a forced smile. You exhaled in relief, still nervous, and lost, but relieved. A Colonel, though? And some guys ransacking your quarters? What?
“Yes, yes, it all just ‘disappeared’, they said. Which I know, is just, impossible, right?” You said. The man nodded “Indeed, it's been something more complex than that. Quite a matter, in fact. So, miss Sully, we require you at our RDA division offices”
You inhaled, “What? Ha, why- Why are you in my room, what are you looking for?-”
“Of course, if you accompany us to our station you'll be accordingly informed” He said, an arm pushing you, once again.
You side stepped. You had heard that before, a minute ago, “No. Why can't you just tell me-” “This involves directly the RDA, we are required to take you to our installations. It's not a suggestion, ma'am” He said, and although they didn't touch you again, their looks did not leave space for any more questioning.
You started walking, “My, my superior-” “He'll be notified. Please” Delgado said, indicating you to walk faster. You gave a last look at you closed room.
***
The place was smaller than base, but a lot more technological and modern, way more touchscreens and crystal walls. Mancini and Delgado escorted you to a sterile room, much closer to an interrogation one than an office.
You took a seat, front but away from a metal desk, while they sat by the wall, besides the door. Not for the first time you caught yourself biting your finger's joints, pushing and alternating between your index, middle, and ring finger.
Eventually an officer entered, a major by the looks of it, tall and muscular, white hair on the sides of a balding head. You stood up at attention, dismissed right away. ‘Andre’ read his uniform.
Without further words or greetings, the wall ahead of you turned into a bright screen. One of those blue aliens, Na'vi, was on it, riding some flying beast.
The beast was vicious, a big mouth with sharp teeth, daunting small eyes. And yet the creature on top was way more ferocious. A snarling face, with sharp teeth as well and big yellow eyes. It was covered in beads and straps and plates. Curiously, disruptively, a very modern human gun was held on its raised hand, and a belt of munitions clasped around its torso.
Feathers and more beads decorated the Na'vi's face, painting on its cheeks and chin, a headpiece across its forehead. And something… something spine-chilling recognizable. An intimate feeling, when looking in its eyes. A recognition screaming at the back of your head.
“What you are seeing, Is the biggest act of betrayal, ever committed, against humankind, against earth.” Said the major, but you couldn't care to separate your eyes from the screen, “And that there, is Jake Sully”

Fun fact about me: I love spring and summer. I may be a social butterfly (ha I'm so funny) on the internet, but I'm quite the reserved antisocial moth irl. Trust me, I'm infinity less cocky at the the Hyvee manual checkout compared to when I have access to voice chat.
Having 0 friends irl means less reasons to get out of the house. But I always look forward to spring so I can get outdoors in jeans and black hoodie so I can wander around forests and fields looking for all sorts of critters, and that heavily includes monarchs!
Every year I always hunt for fields of milkweed, taking my time to check the underside of every leaf for any caterpillars, and even the eggs! I'm apparently good at identifying the eggs compared to dry milkweed sap. I always pick the leaves the eggs are on.
Hatching and raising the babies is the fun, if not difficult part of growing monarchs. But in the end, when you finally watch those Itty bitty babies grow big enough to puppies and hatch weeks later, it's a satisfying feeling of hard labor as well as the satisfaction of watching your hard work fly away healthily.
This has become a little traditional thing I do for myself. I love monarchs, I have a lot of memories where my parents would take me to local parks or countrysides/lakes where milkweed grows naturally, and id practically scavenge the stalks. Once the warm weather starts to hit up, I'm going to drive to an old town my dad/mom used to live in before her passing. I want to feel like I'm there again with her.
I love monarchs, I love how I've grown to make it a priority of mine to impact their population, even just for a little bit.

Grailfinders #324: Jacques de Molay
ayyyyy its time to get spooky! at long last the Halloween events have returned, and they’ve returned with three new servants! we here at Grailfinders are, of course, going in servant ID order, so first on the chopping block is the disgraced crusader Jacques de Molay! they started off as a holy knight, but ever since their fall they’ve been tainted by lies and slander, so while they start off semi-holy as a Death Cleric they fall pretty fast as a Fiend Warlock by the end of the build. basically they’re kind of a discount, evil paladin, which fits nicely!
check out her build breakdown below the cut, or her character sheet over here!
next up: I'm pretty sure I can't include a picture on the next one without getting banned.
ancestry & background
obv jacques is a human, buuuut her final form is a grey-skinned humanoid with glowy eyes and horns, so why would we miss this chance to go tiefling? specifically we’re going with the glasya tiefling variant so eventually your Legacy of Malbolge (mispronounced to your liking) will give you access to disguise self, and then you can look human that way! right now, it just gives you Minor Illusion. you also get Hellish Resistance against fire damage, as well as Darkvision to clown on those dumb “human” knights. you also get +2 Dexterity and +1 Wisdom thanks to Tasha’s trivializing ancestry differences.
you’re not a good Acolyte, but you’re definitely an acolyte, so you still get Insight and Religion proficiency all the same.
Ability Scores
we’re starting off as a cleric so your Wisdom needs to be pretty good, at least for now. after that, your Dexterity- you’re uh. you’re not partial to armor. (though I would accept an argument that your first ascension has light armor on, but that’s still mostly dexterity based.) third up is Charisma- this will be better later, but if you had high charisma before you died, you probably wouldn’t have died. your Constitution is above average since you were a knight and all, but that means your Intelligence isn’t that high. you’ve got the megane look, but we just don’t need it for the build. finally, we’re dumping Strength. you’ve got actual knights for heavy lifting now.
Class Levels
1. Cleric 1: starting off as a cleric nets you Wisdom and Charisma proficiency as well as History and Medicine, warrior monk and all that. starting off as a Death cleric specifically gives you proficiency with martial weapons, so you get your sword and shield right off the bat! you’re also a Reaper now, so you can learn an extra necromancy cantrip like Sapping Sting- it deals a little damage and knocks people over! I mean, you’re not winning any shoving contested rolls any time soon, might as well turn to magic, right?
oh right, you can also learn and prepare Spells as part and parcel of being a cleric by using your Wisdom. since you can swap spells out each day we won’t be super in-depth about which ones you learn when, but we’ll point out the cooler ones to look at each level.
first though, your regular cantrips! Guidance and Resistance are subtle, but powerful- a great excuse to not do anything yourself! also grab Sacred Flame or something to attack people while your dexterity isn’t high enough to reliably use your sword.
as for your first level spells, you get False Life and Ray of Sickness for free, but there’s plenty of other spells to look into too. Shield of Faith is a pretty good alternative for mage armor at the moment, giving you or an allied creature +2 AC for up to ten minutes, concentration pending. it’s no shroud of turin, but it’s not like you used the real thing either, right? Bane is our very first curse, reducing a group of creature’s checks for a while if they fail their saves. also, Ceremony is the closest we can come to your “turn everyone evil” technique for now, although it only reveals a creature’s original alignment, not a new one. I guess the dedication ceremony could technically count?
2. Cleric 2: second level clerics can Channel Divinity in one of two ways once per short rest- Turn Undead (boo hiss) forces wisdom saves on every undead creature in the area, making them run away for a minute, or until they take damage. good for when you have to clear a room, I guess. the death clerics have a CD with some oomph though- your Touch of Death lets you make a necrotic smite dealing up to 25 extra necrotic damage in a single hit as you level up.
3. Cleric 3: third level clerics get second level spells, but you also get a free copy of Disguise Self from your Legacy of Malbolge. once a day you can look like any humanoid you like, though physical inspection can turn up discrepancies. luckily, as long as you aren’t getting headpats regularly “you, but human” is a pretty safe option.
as for your second level spells, Blindness/Deafness is a fun curse to throw around, as is Ray of Enfeeblement, and both will always be on your spell list! the heavy hitter this level has to be Spiritual Weapon though- you can make a big floating weapon and use bonus actions to move it around and hit people- essentially, it’s your very first summonable knight. I know those knights are mostly just part of your Noble Phantasm animation, but if Stheno can get knights, so can you.
4. Cleric 4: normally we’d use your first Ability Score Improvement on raw stats to improve your offense or shore up some weakness (y’know, improving an ability score), but right now our most pressing issue is getting the War Caster feat. sure, it gives you advantage on concentration checks and makes shield of faith a much better defensive spell. sure, you can cast inflict wounds as a reaction now, but the most important part is you can cast somatic-based spells while both your hands are full with a sword and shield! most DMs probably won’t care too much, but really every part of this feat is super useful for us as an IKEA paladin.
to celebrate the occasion, you can cast Thaumaturgy now. really sets the mood for a dark mass, you know?
5. Cleric 5: fifth level clerics can Destroy Undead of CR ½ or lower when they turn them successfully, which actually makes it even worse for our purposes, since this is also the level they can cast third level spells like Animate Dead. it makes skeletons and zombies- either creating one or reasserting dominance over up to three per casting. you can command one or more of them as a bonus action each turn, but they’ll only listen to you for the first 24 hours after you cast or recast the spell on them.
you can also cast Invisibility once a day thanks to your legacy- it’s not in character but it is useful!
as for other spells to look out for, Bestow Curse does just about any negative thing you want it to- if you’re going to be evil, it will help out a lot. I’d also grab Speak with Dead so you can really connect with your undead minions, and Spirit Shroud for a creepier ambiance next time you stab someone.
6. Cleric 6: at level six you can channel divinity twice a short rest, and you have an Inescapable Destruction about you that makes your divinity impossible to resist! literally- it prevents the necrotic damage your spells and CD do from being resisted. now you can beat up aasimars with your (currently) 17 additional points of necrotic damage per attack!
7. Cleric 7: seventh level clerics get fourth level spells. your freebies are Blight which is cool, it doesn’t really specify how the target got dehydrated, and Death Ward. it’s not quite the invincibility we want for your shroud ability, but it’s less dying which is useful. I’d also grab Guardian of Faith so you can get a whole knight instead of just a sword, and Divination because you’re still god’s specialest little princess, probably.
8. Cleric 8: eighth level clerics get another ASI, and its about time we start thinking about getting evil. the Flames of Phlegethos are as hard to spell as they are useful, increasing your Charisma by one while also letting you re-roll ones on fire damage from spells. you’re not all that fire-and-brimstone, but it’s a nice touch. even better, after casting a fire spell, you can cover yourself in an evil aura for a round, causing you to glow and counterattack anyone stupid enough to hit you with a melee attack. like. she’s on fire. of course you’re going to burn your hand.
additionally, your Divine Strike adds a bit of necrotic damage to your first weapon attack you hit each turn. you’re kind of a paladin, so now you have a low-level smite, go nuts. (also destroy undead works on CR one creatures now but hush)
9. Cleric 9: ninth level clerics get fifth level spells. Cloudkill is probably the closest thing to your NP if we’re going by the animation, but it can be pretty finicky. it’s strong, but a good gust of wind will destroy it pretty fast. your other freebie is the real prize- with Antilife Shell you finally have a shroud of turin to protect your team with, at least against melee enemies. it keeps anything that isn’t undead or a construct away from you, but you also can’t move them through the barrier or it breaks as well. thankfully most of your party by weight is undead at this point, so it shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.
that being said I’d also grab Flame Strike for a more consistent NP attack and Hallow- we can’t turn people evil, but at least we can turn everything else evil!
10. Cleric 10: tenth level clerics get one more cantrip, so now you can Toll the Dead to deal some ranged damage, especially if you kick people while they’re down. I guess this is your scarf thing?
also, you can get some Divine Intervention, if Shub-Niggurath is feeling benevolent that day. as an action you try to get your god to help out, and if you roll a 10 or lower on a d100, it works. if it worked, you can use it again in a week, otherwise you just have to wait a day. dang, I wish worshipping the devil worked like that irl too.
11. Warlock 1: okay, time to break out the goats. as a Fiend warlock you have access to the Dark One’s Blessing- whenever you reduce a hostile creature to 0 HP, you get temporary HP as a little kickback for sending a soul his way.
you also get Pact Magic, which you cast using your Charisma. you get a different set of spell slots that recharge on short rests, though you can use warlock slots for cleric spells or vice versa. also, when you pick your warlock spells you’re stuck with them until you level up again, so we’ll be more hands-on this time.
grab Eldritch Blast and Mind Sliver for some casterball-ish cantrips, as well as Arms of Hadar to finally make some tentacles to slap people with, and Charm Person to get started with seduction.
12. Warlock 2: at second level warlocks get Eldritch Invocations, ways for you to customize your fall into madness and depravity. Armor of Shadows will give you mage armor whenever you want, so you can finally wear that cute backless dress you’ve been meaning to! Beguiling Influence gives you proficiency in Deception and Persuasion- I bet you thought I forgot to pick those up at the start, didn’t you?
also, you can Hex people now, mostly because we needed a warlock-based curse option for stuff later. now you can deal extra necrotic damage to creatures you attack! annoyingly, this is not affected by your cleric features!
13. Warlock 3: at level three you can summon a cute lil goat man thanks to your Pact of the Chain giving you free uses of find familiar. also you can hit people with the ol’ Crown of Madness to make them turn on everything they knew and loved before. I guess we can make people evil after all!
14. Warlock 4: at fourth level we get another ASI, so bump up that Charisma for stronger spells! now it’s time to ascend for a better weapon- with Shadow Blade your sword can be upgraded to deal psychic damage, and if you throw it you can summon it back as a bonus action! plus- since this is making a weapon, and not directly attacking someone with a spell, you can add all your fun cleric abilities too!
15. Warlock 5: fifth level warlocks get their best boon to their knight corps(e), the third level spell Summon Lesser Demons, letting you drag up to eight demons knights to the material plane to fight! they’re hostile to literally everything, so good luck controlling them though. good thing you know Hallow!
you also know a Maddening Hex now, so whenever you hex someone you can deal psychic damage to them, as well as everyone else around them, as a bonus action with no save!
16. Warlock 6: at sixth level, you have the Dark One’s Own Luck- once a short rest you can add a d10 to any check or save. things always go the villain’s way, at least until the third act. also you can cast Tongues now to understand every spoken language and be understood in turn. I know this is more of a holy sort of effect, but it’s still super useful when you’re evil.
17. Warlock 7: at level seven you get fourth level spells like Shadow of Moil to give you a more thematically appropriate evil aura. for up to a minute after casting the spell, you’re surrounded by darkness that heavily obscures you, giving you resistance to radiant damage and another kind of counterattack. the worst part about turning to evil is all the other paladins suddenly have a problem with you “living”, and “drawing breath”, and “corrupting the innocent”. such a hassle.
18. Warlock 8: one last ASI, so use it wisely. I mean, use it charismatically. it’s for Charisma. you can also cast Raulothim’s Psychic Lance now! I know yours is more of a literal lance, but it doesn’t hurt to try.
19. Warlock 9: our final spell of the build is Negative Energy Flood, taking your NP’s animation a bit too literally, but at least it’s a single target attack again. when you hit a living creature with it you’ll force a constitution save against your spell, dealing 5d12 necrotic damage on a failure, or half on a success. furthermore, a creature killed by this spell becomes an uncontrolled zombie the next turn, going after whatever is closest. if you target an undead, they’ll gain 5d12 temporary HP instead, so your generals will be more protected.
you also get one last invocation, and with Whispers of the Grave you can cast speak with dead at will to really get to know your potential recruits better.
20. Warlock 10: finally, a tenth level fiendlock has Fiendish Resilience, letting you pick a damage type each short rest to gain resistance to it, as long as its not from magical or silvered weapons. that’s why we’ve still got shadow of moil for the paladins. you also get the cantrip Chill Touch, I guess. reach out and touch somebody, with gross skeleton hands.
Pros & Cons:
Pros:
you might not have the unlimited power of a sorlock, but having warlock slots to burn on Animate Dead means you can keep a huge army in check for relatively little cost- even just one short rest a day can supply you with fourteen extra bodies to fight with!
it’s honestly super refreshing to see a spellcaster with a shield. that, plus your healing from fighting and your various ways to resist incoming damage, make you a longer-lived spellcaster than most. having an AC of 18 thanks to mage armor plus two good saves in the big three, plus up to two resistances will help you eat any stray attacks coming your way.
most stories like treating demons as major threats, locking ways to deal with them behind quests and such, so being able to draw demons out for your own benefit can be pretty dang useful in certain situations. unless your playing something like curse of strahd, calling on the forces of evil is usually out of left field enough that whatever you’re fighting won’t have many defenses against it.
Cons:
on the opposite side of that coin, most campaigns assume you’re good. I would consider myself pretty open-minded, but I would have reservations about helping someone walking around with an undead army, I’m just saying.
your undead army can also easily be blasted apart by aoe spells, like the kind your cleric half brings to the table which make up your strongest firepower for most of the build. one wrong move, and suddenly you’re starting from scratch again.
we’re using a lot of different ability scores in this build, so you’re all over the place statwise. I would’ve loved to get more swordplay in, but we had to spend points on two different spellcasting stats, leaving you without a single maxed stat, plus lower constitution than I’m entirely comfortable with a gish having. still, doing a little of everything tends to be the most useful path forward, just ask bards.

youtube
Vague video ID: an awesome video from how to ADHD about ADHD and willpower/self-regulation. It makes a very interesting case that people who think of themselves as having “no willpower“ are actually incorrect oftentimes. They do have a battery of willpower, but often they’re oblivious to how many things they are doing on a regular basis that are depleting that battery. Motivating themselves to get up or to deal with anxiety or making some food for dinner when they would rather just stay in bed. Feeding the cats because it is time for the cat food but needing to wash cat food bowls before you can feed them. Being responsible and figuring out where that bill you have to pay is and where your checkbook is and writing your address correctly on the envelope and putting it somewhere where you’ll remember to take it out. Then you want to do something responsible later on and you have no “willpower left“ Because you are not aware of how much you’ve burned up without thinking about it.
The only thing is, I didn’t check the close captions that come with YouTube so I don’t know how accessible it would be for someone who can’t engage with the video and audio. If you do have issues following a YouTube video with someone speaking quickly, it might be useful to watch it when you can have some accessibility options (a friend) that can pause the video from time to time and describe things on the screen or summarize what has been said, or things like that.
The only thing I would add is that having anxiety, I am just realizing really affects my willpower, because trying to deal with being stressed out, is just as constant bleed of willpower so when I actually need to do something, I find I have no willpower left because I sapped it all engaging with anxious thoughts and thought spirals.

Happy Fossil Day!
National Fossil Day is an annual celebration held to highlight the scientific and educational value of paleontology and the importance of preserving fossils for future generations. - National Park Services
As we are a server who bases our lore very heavily on fossils, from the prehistoric environment down to our characters, the saber-toothed cats, we thought we’d hop in and celebrate this day with some fun facts about fossil animals you could possibly encounter here in the Baobab!
Deinotherium
The heavy-weight representative of TuskClan’s megafauna is colloquially known as simply “The Elephant”, though you may be quick to spot that these are no modern-day African Elephants. Instead, the proboscideans that you’d encounter out on the savanna are based on the famous extinct genus of DeinotheriumI, a close relative of modern elephants. They are known for their distinct tusk-shape, curving downwards instead of the modern elephants outward tusk!
An artistic reconstruction of the species D. bozasi
Caluma Benovskyi
Chameleons are some of the most recognizable reptiles on the planet, known for their prehensile tails and independently mobile eyes. Not much is known of the fossil chameleons of Africa, but there have been discoveries that show that there were indeed these funky little reptiles climbing around SunClan’s forests, changing colors to try and hide from even the most observant saber.

Euthecodon
Out in the waters of BevyClan, especially in the crocodile lake, you’re likely to find yourself face-to-snout with one of the fiercest archosaurs left on the planet, the crocodile. The genus Euthecodon comprise of three species of long-snouted crocodiles, these beasts appear to have convergently evolved their signature snouts with modern-day gharials, and had originally been thought to have been an ancestor of the croc-cousins, though research has more heavily suggested that BevyClan is indeed home to true crocodiles.
photo taken at a zoo in the Netherlands, of the Euthecodon’s closest living relative, Mecistops
Alongside these fun fossil creatures, sabers in the baobab clans have found some unique collectibles today, be it strange bugs in tree-sap in SunClan's fallen trees, ridged shells in the cub islands of BevyClan, or odd reptilian teeth in TuskClan's sand dunes! Maybe doing a bit of research could help our sabers understand what the world was like before they were in it, and what the Baobab region looked like many moons ago....

A small update.
I've been working my security job almost a month now. However, I took on extra shifts as I needed the money for some doctors visits, these shifts were eight hours, so some days I would work a six hour shift at my original placement then an eight hour shift later that day.
Typically I worked 10 AM to 4 PM at my usual job but on Sundays I would work 4 PM to 10 PM. This was my usual schedule.
Now, below will sound quite ventish but I think it's very necessary information to tell as I do feel guilty for letting my life essentially overrun me and get in the way of what I love to do.
Content Warnings; Dehydration, Heat Exhaustion, Description of harsh Conditions as well as Unhealthy Behavior.
So without further ado; what happened?
So, as stated, I took on eight hour shifts. My job is security and at the facility I work I typically gain above 12k steps a day and my highest step count ever to date has been 23k+. This is to state my job requires a lot of walking, which really saps my energy. Now, usually I am inside and have access to water. But as my work went on I would be placed outside or need to walk outside during my break times for food/drinks.
This was not bad, however I have to note I do already have issues with my body keeping sugar, water and other necessities so I did understand I was already pushing myself further than my limit, which is a reason I wished to see a doctor. That way maybe I could find out what's going on.
Doctors cost quite a lot and so I couldn't afford one, therefore I pushed myself even further and wound up with eight hour shifts for the weekend and a day.
These shifts were midnight to eight in the morning, I figured that since these were the hours I already wished to work anyway I would be able to do them no problem. I needed the money, the time was comfortable and it was a new location that I was excited to work in.
For Friday I worked 10 AM to 4 PM and couldn't sleep, I got up and went to work at midnight and came home the next morning exhausted. I had been awake 25 hours at that point, which I already knew was bad but I figured maybe if I sleep enough (as I don't work on Saturdays) then I would be fine.
Well, another thing important to note is usually where I sleep it is 90° WITH the AC on and a window open. So, dangerous levels. Without getting into other things I have to say unfortunately I do not feel comfortable sleeping anywhere else where I live.
To add onto all of this though, I only slept five hours before waking up extremely dehydrated and sweating from nightmares. I figured since I was up though I should get ready and so I went again to an eight hour shift; midnight to eight in the morning. That day was completely fine.
Then Monday happened, needless to say all issues stated before cannot and did not leave within a day and so I was suffering. Sundays 4 PM to 10 PM followed by immediately going to my 12 AM to 8 AM was genuinely not the best idea but I thought it would help the person who drove me so that's what I decided.
The person who drove me couldn't pick me up as they worked on Monday too and because I didn't know the area all too well I spent about four hours in the sun in my already thick uniform just trying to find the bus stop to get home.
When I finally got through my emotions (being upset from lack of sleep as well as heat), the pain (15 hrs on feet basically) and everything else I found the bus stop. I was wiped as one would imagine but I thought when I got home everything would be fine and that I'd have about two days off to help myself.
Unfortunately, I pushed way too hard and I am paying the price now.
Not only am I experiencing what I believe to be heat exhaustion but I've lost all of my personal and important cards. My bank card, my ID, my Social Security Card even. All gone. Stolen, I believe when I was on the bus home but I can't be sure. I'm livid, I'm distraught.
This isn't to make anyone feel guilty as I did this to myself, some solace to all is I've gotten replacements for two of my monetary cards that are coming in maximum ten days. However my ID and my SSC will be much harder, which stresses me to no end.
While I'm out of work though (as I could not obtain my license for having my personal items stolen) I'll work on commissions to make up for lost money.
I would like to apologize properly, I'm very sorry I've let my personal life eat up all of my time. I should have managed it properly as I am an adult. I will work to do better with time management, as it's important for daily life anyway. Thank you all for your patience as well. You are those who help me through rough times- therefore you have my utmost gratitude.
Thank you for reading, I will be visiting a doctor as soon as I can afford it. But as it is now, I would not be able to be treated without identification unless I was in a life or death situation. As I am still remaining conscious with extended movement, they will not see me without these requirements.
Thank you all again, please have a swell day.

5 Hidden SAP GRC Pitfalls That Could Jeopardize Your Compliance Strategy
1. “One-Size-Fits-All” RuleSet Syndrome
Many organizations implement SAP GRC with out-of-the-box rule sets and assume they’re covered and are completely Sox/SoD compliant. The problem? Standard rule sets don’t always reflect the unique business processes and risks of an enterprise. They must be utilized as a baseline.
Example: A global company using a generic SoD rule set might flag conflicts that aren’t actually risks in their specific operations, leading to unnecessary firefighting and role redesign efforts.
What is the solution? It is always recommended to tailor the rule set to align with your business needs. Involve process owners and auditors to ensure relevance. Disable those which are not relevant and add the ones what needs to be part of the rule set. For example, your custom transaction codes.
2. Over-Reliance on Automated Controls
Yes, automation is powerful, but blindly trusting automated GRC controls without proper oversight is a recipe for disaster.
Example: Automated access reviews might seem great, but if managers are just clicking the approval button without understanding the risk, you’re inviting compliance issues.
What is the solution? Combine automation with human intelligence. Train reviewers on what they’re approving and implement periodic audits.
3. The “Too Many Firefighters” Problem
Firefighter (emergency access) access is meant for temporary, critical access. But in many companies, they become a backdoor for permanent privileged access. I’ve seen in some instances where the FFIDs have SAP_ALL, SAP_NEW assigned
Example: If every second user has firefighter access “just in case,” then what’s really being controlled?
What is the solution? Reduce firefighter usage with strict policies. Ensure that the Firefighter IDs have limited and relevant access, not SAP_ALL. Look at how often your users are asking for such access. Set expiration dates, and enforce approvals before access is granted. A detailed review is must after the usage.
4. Role Design Nightmares
Ever seen a single SAP role with 500+ transaction codes? It happens more often than you’d think. Poorly designed roles create access chaos, security risks, and audit nightmares.
Example: A company that grants “Display All” access thinking it’s harmless—only to realize some reports contain sensitive payroll data.
What is the solution? Follow a least privilege approach. Display tcodes does possess risks. Design roles based on business functions, not user demands and assumptions. And, no, giving everyone SAP_ALL is not a solution!
5. The “Check-the-Box” Compliance Trap
Many organizations treat GRC as a compliance checklist rather than a risk mitigation strategy. The result? A false sense of security.
Example: An enterprise that passes an audit but later discovers a critical access loophole exploited by an insider threat.
What is the solution? Shift from a compliance-first mindset to a risk-first approach. Ask, “What’s the real-world impact of this control?” rather than just checking off audit items.
Final Thoughts: GRC is Not Just About Tools, It’s About Mindset
