Both Ellie and Caitlyn started out as easily loveable characters with good intentions – Ellie wanting to help other people by making a cure and Caitlyn becoming an enforcer (less of a good thing, but yk Caitlyn's intentions were good in the start).

They were funny, lighthearted, and even silly you could say, but then their parental figures died, and that’s when their character did a complete 180.

With Joel and Cassandra's death, there was a wave of grief covering both Ellie and Caitlyn at first, before their anger took hold and they became unrecognizable in their rage and desperate need for revenge.

In the entirety of s2 of Arcane and Tlou2, Ellie and Caitlyn’s only goal was to hunt down Abby and Jinx respectively, not letting anything or anyone get in their way; Caitlyn pushed everyone away, only letting people who helped her to hunt down Jinx; Caitlyn was also fine with using the Grey, gassing parts of Zaun (and even if she did only use the grey on criminals that still doesn’t justify or excuse her behavior).

The moment Ellie got to Seattle, she started by hunting down Abby’s friends, lashing out at people close to her who called her out on her destructive behavior (Dina and Jesse), Ellie even went as far as to torture Nora, something that affected Ellie.

Ellie and Caitlyn were so gone in their need for revenge that they were completely blind and narrow-minded about anything else: their relationships; Who they were hurting; People who just got caught in the crossfire, their close ones, and themselves in the process.

Both were so deep in their own minds that they were willing to hurt children; Ellie threatened to hurt Levi if Abby didn't fight her (although I doubt that Ellie would have actually killed him, I feel like that's too far even for her).

And as for Caitlyn, she was willing to shoot through Isha as long as she got to Jinx, which It was obvious that Caitlyn wasn’t really thinking at that moment. I think in that moment she was so focused on killing Jinx that she didn't even fully realize how her shot would have to go through Isha first to get to Jinx.

Caitlyn and Ellie also did not have anybody for them during that time even though they did, let me explain:

So Caitlyn— Her mom is dead, while her Dad is a shell of himself. Jayce (who you could argue is like a brother to Caitlyn), disappeared and his whereabouts are unknown. Caitlyn broke off her relationship with Vi out of anger, abandoning her. The only people who are left in Caitlyn’s life are Maddie and Ambessa; One is a placeholder for Vi (Since I highly doubt Caitlyn loved Maddie), and Ambessa is using Caitlyn to get what she wants while giving Caitlyn ways to direct her anger.

For Ellie— Joel died, leaving her already with an empty hole in her heart, and Jesse followed suit.

Tommy wasn’t in a place where he could offer support to Ellie while deep in his grief and anger. Dina was the strongest anchor Ellie had, and in the end, Ellie made the conscious decision to leave Dina, just to get to kill Abby.

Day 1:

A stray sunlight peeked between the leaves of the tree, hitting the golden decorations adorning the book. Jayce's eyes sparkled the same color, breathtaking bright gold, Viktor drowning in them every time they locked gazes.

Viktor only felt this feeling once in her life, looking at the small, dirty, broken boat that she built as a child, pride and fascination swelling in her chest, the claws of a seemingly impossible dream digging into her mind.

Day 2:

"You don't look so hot," Viktor quipped, finding her cane along the floor.

"What? The crazy scientist look doesn't fit?" Jayce poked back, lifting herself from the floor, a few stray pieces of glass falling off her.

It does look good—seeing Jayce disheveled will always look good; the messy clothes and untamed hair going in all directions could alone fuel many of Viktor's fantasies.

Day 6:

She looked heavenly, stunning beauty coming off in waves; she looked like she belonged in paradise; a wandering angel—something magnificent, people dropping everything just to get a glimpse.

An angel, with those warm, paradisiac gold eyes, and pink, dusted cheeks. With a radiant smile and a passion so fiery it could rival the sun. Luring people in with the promise of understanding and compassion, of devotion.
