De beklaagde bekende de aanklachten en zei dat de aangever hem had uitgelokt. "Toen de vrouw bij hem was, hield ik mij rustig, maar sinds ze naar mij terugkeerde, begon hij mij te pesten," aldus de beklaagde. Satishkumar N. had er een gewoonte van had gemaakt om ’s nachts met zijn auto in de inrit van de minnaar te stoppen, hinderlijk te toeteren en bedreigingen te uiten. Er zijn donderdag camerabeelden in de rechtszaal getoond. Daarop is te zien dat een auto op verschillende momenten heen en weer rijdt in de straat van de aangever. Enkele keren stopte hij zelfs om te roepen ‘Mi o kiri yu heri famiri nanga *mpp’. Het blijkt dat hij dit op verschillende nachten heeft gedaan in januari 2022. Satishkumar N. heeft toegegeven dat hij tekeer is gegaan, maar hield de rechter voor dat hij nooit de intentie had om de man iets aan te doen. Hij gaf als aanleiding dat hij gefrustreerd was vanwege pesterijen van de man bij wie zijn vrouw de afgelopen periode heeft gewoond. De beklaagde die terechtstaat voor bedreiging en belaging, zei dat hij normaliter een kalm temperament heeft. De aangever zou hem hebben uitgelokt door steeds berichtjes voor hem te sturen over zijn intieme ervaringen met de vrouw. Daarnaast had de andere man hem ook bedreigd, maar had de politie zijn aangifte niet opgenomen. "Dat maakte mij heel boos, rechter," aldus de beklaagde. Nadat de openbare aanklager hem had voorgehouden dat hij niet het recht had de nachtrust van anderen te verstoren en ze te bedreigen, heeft Satishkumar N. zijn verontschuldiging aangeboden. Hij zei dat hij met de strafzaak een les heeft geleerd. Daarom wil hij voortaan weer kalm worden en zich minder druk maken met wat anderen zeggen en doen. De andere man die op een eerdere zitting kwam getuigen, heeft laten weten dat hij de zaak wil laten voor wat die is, onder voorwaarde dat de beklaagde zijn leven niet meer zuur maakt. De officier van justitie eiste een geheel voorwaardelijke celstraf van 6 maanden en een proeftijd van 2 jaar. Nadat de advocaat van de beklaagde voor een mildere straf had gepleit, vonniste de rechter hem tot 4 maanden voorwaardelijk met een proeftijd van 2 jaar. The post claimed that the minister carried a fish and at the same time also carried a photo of Hindu goddess Durga. This was meant to question the stance of the BJP leaders as they condemned the sale and consumption of meat during the auspicious days of Navratri on one hand while the photos of Smriti Irani represented quite the opposite situation. The post is misleading as it contains old photos of Smriti Irani which were captured before Navratri. News Meter fact-checked the claims and found that the original photographs were taken on 6th April 2024 when the minister was campaigning in Chennai for RC Paul Kanagraj.
