Action - this one is tough. I don’t think any ships were written well in action. I like Justin’s unrequited crush on courtney, though. And surprisingly enough I think lesheather could’ve really worked this season. Heather seemed to come to an understanding with leshawna. I know lesheather is kind of polarizing (and for good reason) but i like it in action and action only lol. I also think we got some cute Duncney moments. Oh and chref too if that counts lol

World Tour - I like aleheather a lot. The build up is good, and it felt rewarding at the end. The dynamic is very interesting to me, and the payoff in all stars was one of the only good things about it

ROTI - dawn/B for sure. I like marito a lot as well, and samkota too. But I think dawn/B takes it as my favorite

TDPI - jasammy. Jasmine is one of my favorite td characters ever. I love her, and I want her to be happy. but I really cant stand shawn (sorry shawn enjoyers). I also loooove sugella too. And sugar/leonard

Looking further into this color issue, I have noticed something. I don’t know how the hell this happened, but at some point, I made Raj lighter than he is, and the only thing that has pointed this out to me is this ask.

The one that is the closest to canon is the piece I did for Marshes’ contest. I usually color pick from my own art (obviously), but for the contest piece, I color picked from the canon screenshot (bottom right corner). I used to color pick from screenshots when I first drawing Raj, so idk what the hell happened. He’s certainly not White, but the fact that he’s lighter than he should be…

I wish I had saved the flats of my older pieces before moving them to storage, just to try and pinpoint when this would have happened. I’m thinking that at one point, I thought some screenshot looked off and then I didn’t bother color picking, just tried to use my eye to get the color I thought was correct, and then just went with it, but… idk?

Season 2 Episode 5-6 Spoilers‼️‼️

They set up a massive rajbow arc for nothing⁉️

Don't get me wrong, whatever crumbs we got from Raj and Bowie were cute, but they put so much emphasis on the hockey bros' hatred of cheating and Bowie's guilt, and even went to far to have Julia pin the blame on Bowie to get him eliminated (more on this later) and yet

The most we got from it was the brief confrontation in the iceberg. It's wasted potential, is what I'm saying.

Total Drama has had couples fight before! Jist because they're gay doesn't mean they can't have disagreements and falling outs!

Also, I hate Bowie's elimination; I know Julia confesses that she told the Rat Faces he was the one cheating, but would it have been that hard to show instead of tell? Cut one of the Priyaleb segments to actually set the foundation of Julia's schemeing.

There is some Mkulia crumbs in her effort to save MK from elimination by means of throwing Bowie under the bus.

Day 7: Break the Tie, Not the Bond

For the final day of Rajbow Week, I would like to present a prediction for season 2. I've had this comic sketched for a while now. Like a month before I even started this blog. And now I think it's the perfect time to discuss just what I think will happen to Raj and Bowie during the island rematch...

Back when the reboot was being teased, screenshots of a flyer have been going around. It showed the new cast, a synopsis, and some hints as to what the challenges may be. And one hint jumped out at me: "New challenges will now be peppered with inspiration from disaster and horror movies..." Season 1 of the reboot had some disaster movie aspects. The catapults, the obstacle courses, the lava lake. But nothing really jumped out to me as "horror movies."

Soooo I figured they were saving that for season 2.

As much as we wanted season 2 to be an Action reboot, Terry confirmed on Twitter that it would still take place on the island. But what if they could still pay tribute to Action? Why not put the contestants through revamped versions of Action's movie-themed challenges? And what could be more scary than getting dressed up as a killer/monster and hunting down your competition in a dark forest?

It's kinda like the serial killer challenge from Action. But instead of one player who has to scare their teammates, it's everyone on a team who has to scare everyone on the opposite team. Pop up from behind the bushes, scare someone with a butcher's knife in the kitchen, bust down a cabin door, etc.

For the sake of this scenario, let's assume that Raj and Bowie are on the same team. And that their team lost.

And that they tied for the most votes.

And since there's no way for the rule of "the player with more immunity wins is safe" to be applicable in the team phase, Chris has to think on the fly to get one of them out in the most dramatic way possible.

The tiebreaker? Raj and Bowie have one minute to beat each other up. Whoever's costume looks more ruined by the end will be eliminated. And if they somehow tie again, then they're both out.

And the boys are obviously upset.

Raj, who was dressed like a slasher killer, doesn't want to hurt Bowie. He's a hockey jock. He can effortlessly leave someone with bruises or a missing tooth even when he doesn't think he's playing rough. Bowie, who was dressed like a vampire, doesn't see the point in the tiebreaker. If him and Raj don't want to fight, why can't their team just revote?

Chris says that this'll be great for the ratings and starts the timer.

Bowie didn't want to give Chris what he wanted. As much as he hated losing, he also realized how much it sucks to lose someone he cares about. He already lost his friend Emma. He was not going to botch it with the guy of his dreams.

But Raj...

...Raj really wants to win.

The prediction I'm about to drop is...insane. I admit it. Especially after seeing so many people headcanon/depict Rajbow as such a sweet and wholesome relationship. I'm not even sure if Fresh TV can get away with doing this. But with what little we have canonically with the ship so far, I see a dark direction it can go.

What if Raj's parents are homophobic?

What if Raj didn't want to come out at first because he was scared his parents would watch the show?

And what if he came out specifically while he and Wayne were falling down the mountain because he thought the cameras/mics wouldn't catch him?

Raj doesn't just want to come back and do better. He wants to win the million and move out. At the very least, he wants to make sure that kissing the love of his life in that tapioca shark pit was worth it. That he didn't just lose his parents' trust for a guy who didn't love him back.

Remember my Day 1 drawing? Yeah, Raj has been anxiously waiting for their first date to even happen.

And while Bowie doesn't want to admit why he's been holding off on that date he promised, Raj doesn't want to admit why he wants to win so badly. He doesn't want Bowie to think it's his fault or that their relationship is a problem. There's nothing wrong with Bowie, Raj thinks. He's perfect.

So...Bowie was tricked into a false sense of security. Raj slipped his cape off while they were busy kissing. How does Bowie feel to be blindsided by someone he thought he could trust?

He couldn't be prouder. The guy who tricked so many people last season ultimately got a taste of his own medicine. And so, the villain passes on his prized necklace to his protege.

finished s1 of the reboot a few days ago, so as promised here are my general thoughts (aka rambles) abt it!! (note, these are just my ops)

rate: 8/10!!! i gen love how the atmosphere was similar to that of tdi, which has been a rarity to come across for the other gens. the characters here actually interacted with each other outside of their teams and even just outside of their stereotypical characterizations! it felt like they were teens and not cardboard cutouts placed in a competition. it felt authentic

HOWEVER, i did dock points off bc while the reboot felt reminiscent to tdi, it leaned heavily more as a...competition-based dynamic?? like with tdi, the campers were just teens too, like they talked abt things that didn't just reolve around td. they were friends, they joked around, they teased each other, they snuck around and broke rules for the heck of it. it felt like they were actually staying there for the summer, nothing felt too rushed. tdi balanced competition with life outside of it for the characters. the reboot tried to do that, i feel like, but it sort of fell short. the environment was perfect, it was just the attitudes of the characters that didn't fit. everything seemed to be moving too quickly (tho that could be bc of the 13 eps count); no 'non-elimination' eps, no surprise attack eps, etc, and the characters interacted in an outside environment mostly for alliances and betrayals, not just bc they want to talk--and the few times they did, it was cut short for the competition

RAJBOW!!! they were sooo adorable and healthy!!! bowie catapulting himself to save raj!! the kiss!! but what i most loved was bowie straight-up telling raj that he doesn't want to date him during the show bc he's worried he'll hurt raj, and that after the show they can--AND that raj took it in stride, didn't get offended or took it personally! that kind of stuff is hard to come abt with td couples! im so glad that the first td gay couple was also one of the few healthy td couples! and them gushing abt the other in the confessionals??? adorable!

WAYNE AND RAJ!!! their friendship was so amazing!! wayne being all supportive of raj being gay, him being so happy when he saw raj and bowie kiss, and that confessional when he wondered if raj thought he wouldn't be and was horrified?? oh my god 😭 also him hinting to raj that he'd be supportive of him throughout that entire episode and they're literally falling down a cliff when raj's like "i gotta tell you smth" and wayne's immediately like "im listening" as they're falling to potential death, like hello??? they're so wholesome hfjdfhjfdkh and how they have each other's backs? when raj was getting attacked by that bird-thingie and wayne's like Ticked Off (and then they get their asses kicked) hdhfjjd they deserve sm they're literally a power duo

look. i adore priya winning the million as much as the next person, BUT i also think it'd be great for her character arc to not, you feel?? like maybe that'll help her realize or she'll realize along the way what her parents had been doing to her and how Concerning that was, and realize that just being on total drama is more than enough and not take it personally that she didn't win. i love priya tho she's fucking iconic like she was soooo good, and she did deserve that win regardless

props and kudos to that one chazee fic that got me shipping chazee without hesitation after reading it. and to ep5 for reinforcing my love for the ship, that was the good shit

damien!!! my guy!!! i love him!!!! he absolutely rocked ep5, also he was so real the entire time he was on there with how concerned he was abt everything 😭

episode 5 how i despise you sm...(i already wrote a separate post abt it so i wont rehash it again here. imma just say the only good things in it were rajbow, chazee moments, and damien). like however bad i thought it would be, it was so much worse

millie....well, she had me in the first half ngl, i was pretty iffy abt her. i thought her and priya's friendship was pretty cute tho, and how, in the second half of the season, she got excited to have a friend was v adorable, i partially changed my mind abt her post-merge. i like her, but i don't love her, y'feel? although i will say her redemption arc was solid, i loved how she and priya mended their friendship

zee, what a guy (he/they pronouns for them imo 💪). him going "we're an awesome team and we're voting YOU off chris!!" like it was the bestest idea ever. i wish, dude, i wish 😭 (and the fact that nobody was even planning on voting zee off until they put the red arrow over them, and bowie was like "can i revote?" had me losing it. the whole episode i was facepalming at zee, im sorry dude but seriously? just stick to not getting ideas, it'll be good for you 😭)

chase is like shippers when their fav ship isn’t canon so they pick apart every scene with the characters and romantically code it except he does it to (and abt) emma

okay don't get me wrong, julia was a great character and villain. i do understand where the writers came from making her win all those challenges to hype her up as this undefeatable force (which bowie does mention at one point) and how she had to win immunity to make it as far as she did--i get it, okay? but also...i thought it was kiiiind of op??? idk esp during the honey challenge, i thought it would have been classic td fashion to have chase win immunity when he got shot up by that geyser, like man didn't even try but he won immunity that would've been funny. or emma when she took the shortcut?? that'd make so much sense y'know? idk it felt like other characters were downplayed to boost julia up? like the winner of that challenge should have gone to emma or chase imo and not bowie or julia, like i gen was expecting while they were fighting for someone else to ring the bell ngl

i so get why ppl love the primary colors trio now (in a both platonic and romantic sense) they're such a mess

same with prillie, they're so!!!

chemma...oh god chemma. i hate their kissy-kissy honeymoon phase after emma forgave chase, it felt too similar to how gidgette was always all over each other (thank goodness for chemma it was mostly off-screen). anyway the only version of chemma i found entertaining was their chaotic dynamic in the beginning??? i get where fresh was coming from here too abt the realism of on/off relationships and how toxic they can be, but personally i like both characters when they're separate and she wants him dead while he's painfully oblivious. (i feel like im in the majority with this lmao)

emma ily but don't go back to chase goddammit! i know she thought it was bc he threw the challenge for her, and that in s2 they break up (again), but damn when he kept listing all the times he was 'selfless' i was like good god stop like there's no way it could get worse and then it did 😭 you deserve better emma

chase...i have many thoughts abt him, which i will write in a separate post. i remember already posting an analysis abt him like a year ago which i believe still stands imo with the addition of a couple more things. long story short i felt like personally some of his character was underutilized by the show to place him as a 'comic relief character whose pain is used for humor' which is a trend td is notorious for esp for male characters who are either dumbed down and/or infatuated (dave, chase, kind of tyler, cody, prob more i cannot remember rn). i feel like although he made it as far as he did--which, given what he does, im not surprised by--certain attributes abt him that were only mentioned (like the obvious: that he's an influencer who does crazy dares similar to the kind of stuff td does) could have been used to further enhance his character in the competition so ppl actually notice (I'll go into more detail abt it in the separate post). HOWEVER, i do like both chase and emma as characters (not as a ship), which may surprise some ppl considering chase seems to be widely despised in the fandom, but then again look at my track record (aka dave being one of my favs). they're both not fav tier (yet), but i like them. chase is a guy with a terrible personality, yes, but imo that just makes him interesting bc why is he this way, im ready to dissect him like a frog 😭

seeing shawn's cardboard cutout in axel's introduction only solidified my theory of him being a mentor-type figure to her for her apocalypse training. bc, as I've def said before in a prev post, having a cardboard cutout of himself for her to fight is exactly the kind of thing he'd do to toughen her up (smth smth survival is first priority over emotions and connections)

i think this may be the one season in which i actually like the entire cast while first-time-watching! the villains were fun to watch! chase was fun to watch! and yes, even ripper wasn't so bad--a year ago, i didn't rlly like him bc i'd only watched the first four eps but this time he grew on me lmao he's still a shitbag in s1 but he's kinda amusing i guess???

(also: that one nichelle and axel moment in the finale still scratches an itch in my brain, you can pry nichaxel from my cold, dead hands, i still love them 😭)

MY THOUGHTS ABOUT EPISODES 5 AND 6 OF SEASON 2 OF TD2023!!!

MAJOR SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!

I'll get the ships out of the way - WE DIDNT GET RAJBOW DIVORCE!!!! REJOICE!!! Their conflict wasn't solved well, but at least it's solved man! Rajbow is still alive!

Ripaxel is actually really growing on me? The shipping hasn't overridden their personalities which was a MAJOR concern for me. Glad to see Axel still kicking ass and Ripper being actually funny! ALSO THEY BROKE THE COUPLE'S CURSE! Neither of them have even been at risk of being eliminated which is kind of insane because usually the couples in TD have one partner (or both in gidgette's case) be eliminated right after they're established but THEY DIDNT! YIPPEE!

Priyaleb on the other hand... Yeah i don't care for them, sorry! they are the obligatory straights of the season for me, i REALLY don't care now that Caleb might be returning those feelings (i can STILL hold on to my grey-romantic Caleb headcanons >:D ) and i prefered when they weren't returned! Zee's involvement was funny tho, and Priya's pretty enjoyable in episode 5! They're cute but i DONT CARE.

MKULIA IS STILL IN THE GAME! Love how the only thing that bothered Chris was that MK stole his hair dryer XD that is very in character!!! They were fun in episode 5 and hey! They're still doing the alliance bit since they got a duo confessional in episode 6 so im excited to see where they go next!!!

Damien was fun in episode 6. just got nothing to add i don't really care for this man

i LOVE ZEE AAAAAA HE IS SUCH A SILLY LITTLE NOODLE OF A MAN lowkey might be one of my favs now (in canon) they figured out how to make imaginative jokes that have to do with the soda bit! He is such a vibe man

MK's been great too, i like how the cheating had consequences without those consequences being getting kicked off the game!

i'll mention the challenges before going over the eliminations, the iceberg challenge was pretty nice imo, i think Ripper getting involved with the MKulia cheating is fun and him ripping his shirt off is funny tbh. The snowball fight was really fun too!

The obstacle course is fine, the wall with the boots reminded me of Wipeout (which, fun fact, is called Total Wipeout in french) so that was pretty neat

The kayak challenge had a neat twist, loved Axel just punching Ripper off the boat and the confessional right after was pretty funny. Axel and her stupid ass boyfriend, it's great

OK ELIMINATION TIME!!! CANT SAY I DIDNT CALL THEM BUT I TOTALLY DID!!!!

I did say Nichelle might get eliminated since the writters have done nothing with her, but i... don't like what they did at all. The movie deals should've been real and Julia just snuck them on her bed since they were sent to production and they didn't give them to her yet. it just. sucks that all but one elimination while the teams were active were girls, especially Emma's and Nichelle's. Scary Girl is 100% coming back later tho so we'll see!

ALSO. DID I PREDICT EXACTLY HOW BOWIE'D GET ELIMINATED OR DIDNT I? Ok it wasn't exact but i was right on the money in saying Julia would get him eliminated by telling the others about him supporting the cheating. especially since she did it to save MK, im considering that an MKulia win. For once im actually satisfied with an elimination this season! dang!

My predictions are kinda the same - Scary Girl coming back, MKulia being real, Priya being eliminated soon - but i'll add my specific thoughts on who i think will be next in terms of eliminations next monday i think.

Anyway some thoughts on s2 ep 3 and 4!

- millies gone already 😔 though I will say I actually didn’t mind her whole plot with damien! it makes a lot of sense as a mistake millie would make given her poor social skills, and damien forgiving her in this ep was sweet, I wish we could’ve seen them forming a friendship but it was nice while it lasted!

- I think my biggest complaint with the millie situation is how priya…. didn’t really have a strong role or presence in her elimination??? they’re codependent girlfriends besties ya know.. it feels like they just wanted to push millie out of the picture to focus on caleb and priya forming an alliance

- speaking of, I like that caleb is developing a strategy thoughhhh the romance angle with priya felt soooooo unnecessary,,, ngl I kind of hate every straight pairing this season lol (not because they’re straight, but bc they all feel forced and unnecessary 2 me sorry ripaxel / priyleb fans)

- RAJBOW CONFLICT!!!!!!! god it’s soooo good,, bowies comment abt wanting to keep the relationship out of the game last season makes a lot of sense here, having to choose between cheating that likely saved them from elimination twice and being honest with his boyfriend. excited to see where this goes

- MKULIA CARRYING THIS SEASON SO FAR NGL, that scene where they just. Push an entire fucking log onto the other team. Evil girl yuri ily

- nichelle proving to be one of the best competitors (and she knows it!) thoughhhh I’m worried we haven’t really seen her form any close alliances / allies in the same way as say, whatever caleb and priya have got going on. she better not be a pre merge boot pleeeeease

- ok onto the 4th episode. If I had a nickel for every time this season had a challenge that is almost definitely inspired by squid game, I’d have 2 nickels etc etc

- bowie digging an even deeper hole for himself by hiding the fact they’re even cheating from raj… ohohhohohoh

I find it funny that I hc the idea of caleb being this kitten lover who also works hard to get where he stands trying not to use his looks as an advantage, while chase is this laidback thrillseeker, pet-store destroyer, who would totally do stuff recklessly unlike caleb's more methodical approaches. it'd aggravate caleb so so much, like what if chase is the only person that he comes close to snapping at lmao I genuinely can talk abt them all day but I digress

raynebow, admit it or not, would be an awesome dynamic. emwayne is on top for me, but these three would be pretty cool together, like rajbow already being a thing and then wayne coming into his own sexuality realization lmao for me, wayne is either the classic straight best friend or a bisexual mess, there's no in between

the concept of what's going on between priya and caleb currently is what I like more than the ship itself; I like the idea of priya having a crush (though her character derailment for it is a bit annoying smh) while caleb is just genuinely doing this for an alliance lmao (if caleb does grow feelings for priya in the process--which I don't doubt could happen, it's total drama after all, that'd be even funnier)

bowie & chase are the reluctant exasperated and annoyed sibling & feral sibling dynamic for me. like chase does smth stupid (not a hard thing to do) and bowie's genuinely stunned whenever it actually seems to work (I'm thinking abt ep1 of s2 here lmaoo)

waaay before when s1 hadn't come out and ppl speculated on priya & chase being the Main Couple (and then everything went to shit after), I've switched trains in regards to that; them as a platonic friends duo would be crazy. kickass girl who can do anything (except feelings) & dumbass guy who does stupid impulsive shit for thrills (and cannot do feelings); they'd both fumble at romance shit and rant abt it while making it seem like they have it under control, it'd be wack; she would hate him for doing stupid shit and making them lose challenges, he'd talk shit abt "taking risks" and whatnot, and she'd be like "I'll smash my water bottle over your head, that's a risk I want to take rn!!" fr priya would beat his ass (and maybe save his ass if they ever reach that point of their dynamic lmaoo)
