Savitar and Cisco for the character ask game please? <3

Oooh fun choices!

Savitar

How I feel about this character: Unfortunately, I am obsessed with him. Not because he's a good character in canon (he really isn't, aside from like...the few scenes he's unmasked), but because the idea of him is so, so intriguing. And MAN Grant could really pull off suave manipulator when Savitar was allowed to be out of the suit

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Iris, Cisco, Reverb, and Mirror Iris! Which is just Barrisco and Westallen in various fonts 😅 Saverb and Savimiris in particular have my heart because...evil Barrisco/Westallen!!

But Saviris is a very compelling tragedy (if only the writers took advantage of that more), and Savisco is sooo interesting. Like...Cisco is one of the people Savitar lists as someone he hates for shunning him, and yet he never hurts Cisco directly. Triggers his trauma, threatens his best friend, yes, and neither of those are harmless, but...Savitar never directly goes after Cisco himself. He always makes Killer Frost do it. And yeah, sure, Killer Frost has to be the one to freeze off Cisco's hands, but Savitar could absolutely hurt Cisco himself too, and yet...he repeatedly puts it on Killer Frost. Interesting indeed...

Neither of these (Saviris and Savisco) are healthy relationships ofc, but both still speak volume about how Barry-like Savitar is: he has soft spots for the same two people that Barry does!

My non-romantic OTP for this character: ...uh. No one really 😅 would've been Killer Frost, but like...they're not even toxic in an interesting way. He's just flat-out abusive to her for no reason. To this day, I have no idea why people love them so much (honestly I might’ve even been intrigued by them as a ship if not for this, but I def would’ve loved their platonic dynamic. As canon stands tho…nah)

(Morgan fits into this category, though a) Savitar is a more compelling villain in all versions of the Morgan AU and b) I cannot elaborate, you just have to trust the process 🙏)

My unpopular opinion about this character: the fact that I don't consider Savitar a good villain in canon. In his unmasked scenes? Absolutely! But those scenes are like...2-3 out of so many, and unfortunately, they still can't make up for how incoherent he is as a villain, how his motives make no sense...and how he really could've been anyone else and the season would've changed very little. Like. Seriously. Other than 3x21, can you think of any episode that would've actually been super different if Savitar had been, say, Wally instead? Because I sure can't! And that's not good!

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Get rid of the scar (ever since I learned it was only included to mark him as "damaged"/"broken", and especially since it's never explained, I've been so pissed it was included at all), let him impersonate Barry and mess with his life. Honestly, you can even keep the scar if you really want to (for some reason), but let him then use HR's device to impersonate Barry! Mess up his life...not in big ways, but in small ways:

A conversation with Cisco that Barry doesn't remember (because Savitar had it), a date with Iris that Barry missed (because Savitar set it up), Caitlin being secretive around him (because Savitar "subtly" excluded her and sowed distrust for her within the Team...maybe this could even lend to why she keeps a piece of the Stone hidden). Stuff like that.

AND and!! Explore how he's Barry's dark side! Show Barry making a ruthless choice, and maybe Team Flash is wary and/or Savitar commends him for it. And Barry's blood runs cold. Ex: Savitar directly calls out his time manipulation in 3x22, where he snatched Snart out of the timeline for the sole purpose of saving Iris, not caring about the consequences. "I would've done the same thing," says Savitar, "maybe we're not so different after all," and Barry feels sick to his stomach. Stuff like that!

(Also, Savitar and Mirror Iris playing the happy couple would've been SOOOO compelling. I realize there was no plausible way to bring Savitar back after s3, but like...they brought him back in s5 even tho it made no sense. They could find a way for s6)

Cisco Ramon

How I feel about this character: I love him! Like...genuinely, what's not to love. He's protective of the ones he loves, he's compassionate, he's funny, he gives his all to everything, he's a badass (even if the show forgot that. Often)...I just love him sm and he deserves nice things

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Barry, Kamilla! Also sometimes Caitlin, Kendra, and Lisa. Also Iris in a Barriscowest way

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Iris and Harry! I also really love his and Caitlin's friendship (I go back and forth on shipping them lol)

My unpopular opinion about this character: He was valid in his anger towards Barry in early s3. Like...listen. Did Barry have valid reasons not to want to time-travel again? Absolutely. Did Cisco have valid reasons to be pissed at him anyway? ABSOLUTELY!

I mean...consider that Barry learned the lesson of time-travel being timeline-altering and dangerous in season 1. That's the reason he ran his choice (to save his mom) by everyone in 1x23 - he knew it would affect all of them! He wanted everyone to be okay with it! And he did the same in 2x17 - making sure his Team was all onboard. But then...in 2x23, he's faced with the SAME choice as 1x23. And I get that he was in grief because he'd just lost his dad. But then why does 3x01 act like Barry is just now realizing how dangerous time travel is? It's just bizarre. He been knew!!

And my gripes about Flashpoint aside...Cisco is still valid to be mad at him. Dante (for some reason) died as collateral damage of Barry's time travel*, and this is when Barry sets the boundary of "no, I can't time travel anymore." And we, the audience, understand why! But Cisco? He's grief-ridden, and so angry, because from his POV, Barry is willing to time travel to save his own family, but not Cisco's. It feels personal, even though it's not. More importantly, it feels like Barry's being a hypocrite...and the thing is? Cisco's not totally wrong to feel that way. I mean...look at what Barry does in 3x22! He manipulates time again, to save Iris! That should've resulted in another Flashpoint. Can you imagine? Cisco is a saint for not getting pissed at Barry again after that because...wtf dude.

*listen I still think Eobard Thawne killed Dante himself - it would explain his whole "everything is back to normal...well, for me, anyway. For you..." thing, and he knows about Cisco's family life, so you just know this mf would bring it up to Cisco, expecting a "thank you" (because if you take a cue from the comics, as I do, Thawne has a very messed-up concept of family. Of love in general, really, but especially family). This might become a fic one day, who knows 👀

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: He should've kept his powers, and he and Kamilla should've stayed in Central. I get that they wrote him off because Carlos wanted to leave, and I respect that! But it was so bizarre for Cisco as a character (and for Kamilla too, really, but this is a Cisco-focused ask)

there’s a pair of us don’t tell, they’ll banish us you know for sure. An absolutely breathtaking Samtory/Lanichols fic, set post-s4 and frankly better than s5 and s6 Part 1. Highly recommend if you enjoy this ship (and even if you don’t, you might be pleasantly surprised!)

Close second is Breaking the Time Loop by Asukachan07. An absolutely amazing Saviris/Westallen fic that writes Savitar (and the two ships) with so much skill and care...not to mention the INTRIGUE! The show writers wish they could write this well ✋

(And it includes the idea that Savitar only killed Iris to revive her for himself later, which is my headcanon now and forever. Canon did a sloppy job of explaining how Savitar could ever go through with killing Iris while still being madly in love with her…but this explains it)

Last Movie: Ah, gosh. HM. I haven't watched anything that's not a TV show in a while. I semi-voluntarily caught the last fifteen minutes of Scrooged over the winter holidays I guess?

Last Series: Last series I watched any part of is, as always, "Emergency!" because I will never not be stuck in 70's paramedic hell. If we're talking new-to-me shows, a friend's making me watch Grey's Anatomy (early seasons) once a week, probably because observing my growing despair about the characters' poor life choices is fun. I don't even normally watch medical shows, and yet here we are lol

Craving: Some good spaghetti with olive oil and obscene amounts of lightly toasted garlic.

Currently working on: OH BOY WHAT A QUESTION.

Spinning: Gotland on my spindles (4-ply, one single per spindle, for funsies - except I accidentally mixed up which bits of fiber go with which single on which spindle, so that'll be fun to sort out...), 7oz/200g of red Merino on the wheel (for a crochet hat, followed by 9.5 oz of red and black Merino for a woven scarf). But also 24.5oz/700g of grey Merino. And cotton on the supported spindle. And I've got some laceweight viscose on the mini turkish spindle that I should really work on...

Crocheting: Half a dozen things, including a lacy collar that needs buttons and blocking, a gigantic star-shaped wrap-around shawl, an incredibly boring granny square top for my little sister, and too many others to count.

Art: The Emergency! tarot as the eternal never-ending WIP; I also have some Dragon Age Veilguard related plans revolving around the Grand Necropolis and irl Catacomb Saints and I'd love to get some DA-style tarot cards done for all my player characters.

Writing: I still have a couple unfinished fanfics that need another chapter, as well as two deeply self-indulgent OC/Emergency! crossovers that friends are making me write, and I also have some Dragon Age stuff in the works - though if anyone will ever see that is another question entirely.

Music: Practicing various stuff for LARP; also slowly chipping away at Hozier's Work Song because my partner asked nicely.

Just kidding ourselves...

Saviri was sitting on her bed when she came home, and at first she didn’t acknowledge him. She set down her pack and worked on her leathers, and after a moment he knew she was intentionally antagonizing him. “So you’re going to pretend I’m not here then, Tali?” She grinned at her, and she lifted her gaze, catching his eyes from the mirror she stood before. She immediately turned around and came to him then, pushing him back onto the bed and running her hands over his chest. He immediately took hold of her and rolled her onto her back.

“We can’t do this anymore, Wolfie. We’re kidding ourselves.” Tala’nori’s breath was already ragged and she bit her lower lip as she ran her hands down Saviri’s back. Her eyes met his, and it was clear to him that it wasn’t just lust within them. He placed his hands to either side of her face and leaned down to gaze at her, quiet for a long moment as her pupils dilated and her irises rotated. It was clear when she blinked she was trying to hide it from him. 

“You still love me, I can see it in your eyes. You could never lie to me, Tali. No matter how many times you want to try to lie to yourself, never to me. You simply can’t.” Saviri spoke huskily, moving a stray lock of hair from her face as he leaned on his elbow to stare down at her intensely. She parted her lips as if she were about to say something, but she merely stared at him, finally reaching up to pull him into a kiss.

Most wouldn’t have put much stock in it, calling it coincidence that the dreams all played out the same, that Jesse aged a year in each one…but not Iris. She was convinced, possibly even more than Barry, that there was some grand design at play.

Though she and he disagreed on what exactly that grand design was.

OOOH I love this question!

There are actually a few that have been rattling around in my head, especially Savitar-centric ones (ofc 😅 you know how much I dislike him in canon), but I’ll talk about specifically, which has to do with a gifset I saw a while back (this one!)

“My darling, if I can’t have you, no one can.” Now THAT as Savitar’s motive would’ve been EPIC

Unfortunately, it doesn’t really work with canon structured the way it is. Savitar has a crisis of conscience with Killer Frost over killing Iris, but then he gleefully kidnaps and kills her, even gloating about it. And then, later, he meets with Barry and Iris at Barry’s request, tries to seduce Iris out of desperation, and then leaves.

Some people would have you believe this is a ruse while Cisco finished the splicer. Those people clearly weren’t listening when Savitar told Killer Frost that the meeting went “as [he] expected, [he] was a fool to think otherwise.” Savitar had hope! He hoped Iris would choose him! But this doesn’t jive with him being glad to kill her just one episode prior.

So what I’d do instead is this:

instead of the amnesia plot* (maybe someone vetoes the procedure), I’d move the Barry/Iris/Savitar scenes to 3x21. Barry, perhaps at Iris’s request (remember that this is immediately after the identity reveal, so Barry’s pretty strung out), goes to Savitar and appeals to his humanity, as he does in canon 3x23. “I’m still in there, come home.”

Savitar goes to meet Barry and Iris, Barry appeals to him, Savitar tries to leave…then Iris appeals to him. For a moment, Savitar dares to hope…but he knows better. Iris would never leave Barry for him. So he leaves, bitterness rising in him

Killer Frost asks how it went, and this is when she presses him about “are you sure you’re ready to end Iris’s life?” the way she does in canon. Savitar, unlike canon, says “no…but if I can’t have her, no one can.”

He kidnaps Iris (it goes the same way as when he does it in canon 3x22, with him injuring Wally and taunting everyone on E2) and seduces her more in earnest, saying if she leaves Barry, he’ll spare her life—fake her death, and they can run away together, like a fairytale. Iris is horrified by this, saying her Barry would never talk like that. This angers Savitar and they argue, and he tightens her restraints, saying, “just remember, you brought this on yourself”

From here…well, we pursue the angle that Savitar is so far gone that even Iris’s love can’t save him—unlike canon, there’s no moment of weakness beyond this point. And with this sequence of events, that’s actually plausible. He doesn’t love Iris for her own sake anymore, but for his own sake—she’s been dead to him so long that now she’s more of a prize/ideal to him than a partner, he wants to have his cake and eat it too, but he can’t. So what’s the answer? Well, if he can’t have her, then no one can, so of course, he kills her

…well, he tries to. HR, however, tricks him, dying in Iris’s place. This enrages Savitar—he’d already steeled himself for months to kill Iris (and especially in the last few days when Iris made it clear she wouldn’t choose him and avert her fate), he can’t give up now—he’s too deep in for that. But in the end…Iris kills him. Probably with the pulse rifle, not a normal gun, since the pulse rifle has been shown to deter speedsters. And, since this is just an s3 fix-it, he’s still erased from time—him still being remembered in later seasons is not a concern for the sake of this concept

(Alternatively, I’d just change Savitar’s motive from “I want to kill Iris fr” to “I’m only killing Iris for now, but I’ll temporarily revive her later in secret for myself.” That also feels like a better version of Savitar’s story without changing too much)

idk if he’d have the scar here or not tbh—it’s not hugely important, but that moment of Iris touching Savitar’s scar is tragically sweet 🥺 so I’m torn

*I have issues with the amnesia plot tbh—very cute for Westallen, but ultimately pointless. It introduces a few interesting ideas that are never followed up on (Barry is so happy/light without his memories, so is it right to undo the amnesia? And also, Savitar no longer has memories and no longer wants to kill Iris, is it ethical to still defeat him?), it’s undone way too quickly/easily, and it’s overall a waste of time tbh. We just unmasked our villain last episode and we have 3 episodes left! We don’t have time for filler anymore!

Caitlin tbh. I only really ship her with Iris, Ronnie, and occasionally Cisco. Some other Caitlin ships intrigue me (emphasis on some), but I don’t really ship them
