Hiya! I'd like to ask how do you do your ms paint art? Do you first make the outlines and then colours, or perhaps vice versa? I really adore your ms paint art and would love to know the process (for practice purposes:))
Depends! My two strategies, featuring Cactus Gunman of Gregory Horror Show fame:
I often just color right on top of my sketches when I'm being silly + designing characters + just trying to figure out what something looks like (and tend to use this to fiddle with details and colors) It's usually quicker for me to end up with something that I'm happy with.
Most of the time when I bother to do separate, cleaner line art, it's because I'm making a graphic for my website. LOL. I think it feels a little more cartoonish-silly, which is usually what I'm going for when I decide to do this. It's also a bit harder to make large changes to whatever I'm drawing, so I'm usually working off of a messier thing I've already made.
(Technically, I no longer use MS Paint and instead use Aseprite due to becoming a Linux user, but nothing has really changed about the way I draw + all of this can be done in MS Paint just fine.)
#I've found that I actually have a harder time making color palettes in Aseprite than MS Paint (I used to use the marker tool to mix colors)#(and haven't yet found out an equivalent tool to mix colors together)#Anyway the only feature that I use regularly in Aseprite that MS Paint doesn't ''have'' is easy transformation controls#(Paint has transformation options in the skew/scale menu but not every computer supports the trick I used to use to rotate stuff)#Also you can animate in Aseprite. This clone of a Nova 1200 came out of a supermarket and has a number of 60 channel I/O cards in order to talk to all of the cash registers and scanners and check against the product pricing database. This is an incredibly decked-out system.

I think it's a mistake to assume that computer generation (so-called AI) is the only manifestation of the exploitation that workers (especially in artistic fields that are already considered lesser) experience. The problems that they experience are, I think, exasperated by computer generation, but it isn't like there were no problems with compensation, theft, or other forms of exploitation.
The problem is the exploitation, and I think sometimes, people lose sight of that in these conversations.
#politics#i don't think i'm inherently against 'ai' *but* I don't think it can exist in the world we live in now#we already had problems with worker compensation and recognizing workers and i don't think ai is the solution#like i don't know - i'm sure computer generation can be done in a more ethical way on a smaller scale...#...but if we're talking about the system we currently live in I don't think that those ethics will be adhered to...#...the profit motice outweighs the desire for equity or equality or the artistry that was taken without compensation from artists#but sometimes it feels like people think the only battle to 'win' is against 'ai' and not the system that fostered the success of it#anyway these are some shot of thoughts 👍#i've just seen some conversations about this that i vehemently disagreed with not because of the conclusions but how they arrived there
