Urlandschaften
Gegenüber dem Schellbruch, dem uralten Wald hinter der von Schilf gesäumten Traveniederung, liegt Alt-Lübeck, der slawische Ursprung Lübecks. Die Geschichte lässt sich hier lediglich erahnen.

In contrast to the bearded reedling, the bluethroat knows how to sit down in the reeds for the photographer

A clever woodpecker – a great spotted woodpecker at work in his anvil. An anvil is a kind of workshop, here a hole on a branch into which the bird has pressed a pine cone to get to the seeds.

When I'm looking for a photographic challenge in the reeds, I try to find bearded reedlings. I rarely see them. And when I do spot them, they are either far away or hidden by the reeds. Arrrghh … Recently I managed to take at least a few pictures

The weather is terrible at the moment, so here are a few pictures from nicer days (end of October). A lake that is usually dominated by greylag geese is flooded with winter guests (bean geese, greater white-fronted geese, eurasian wigeons…), plus a few old friends - a wonderful crowd.

The birds in the reeds are dominated by LBB (=little brown birds). They have one thing in common: they can sing surprisingly loudly and persistently

A game of hide and seek: During the bird migration period, many birds leave us for the south, but others come from the north. They are not always easy to spot. Bean geese, for example: they often mingle with greylag geese, from which they can hardly be distinguished (especially when they are resting).
