The only drink I ever had the pleasure of sharing with Brett was a cup of matcha tea (his other love besides scotch). He was in town for a short weekend and was coming off the tail end of some food poisoning and still made the effort to meet up with a person he had never met before just because of our shared love for whiskey. For those don't know this image is by @scotch_trooper. He marries Star Wars characters with whisky bottles. His photos and creativity are up there with the best of them. So much so he has commissioned work for major brands. Recently, a single individual filled a notion with an American regulatory body that his images were targeting children. Long story short, he can no longer do payed work for brands. There has been a lot of support for @scotch_trooper and rightly so. At the same time a lot of hate towards the complainant. BUT, this regulatory body that passed the final decision has had no scrutiny whatsoever. A individual has the right to complain about whatever they want . But for a regulatory body to pass a judgement in the complainants favour is unacceptable. They are the arbiters who have got this horribly wrong. There is absolutely no correlation between the work of @scotch_trooper and promotion of alcohol to minors. #flashbackfriday to when I bought the #glendronach Star Wars set after hanging out with @scotch_trooper back in #newyorkcity. What I loved about Brett was his passion towards his brand but also his passion towards #whisky. We enjoyed some #macallanexceptionalsinglecask amongst other drams together that night, and this was before it became a collectors bottle, it was just a friggen delicious #macallan single cask and we sat in a kitchen in #Brooklyn enjoying it. We both looked at each other and were like, wow this is good. Authentic #passion, that is what I learned most from him, and our chats were always fun. When I saw this set 5 years ago I had to grab it, in honor of him for sure, but also in line with my passion.
