Scott Murphy is so underrated. Scott married and had a child with Anissa, the Viltrumite who had no interest in mating with Earth residents, who agreed with Thragg’s statement on humans being cattle and SA the Viltrumite Emperor’s son. Not only did Anissa fall for Scott but she cared about him and it inspired her to change. Scott not only impacted Anissa’s life but their children’s lives as well. He loved Marky and raised him as his own son. Even when Mark got involved in Marky’s life Scott still considered himself Marky’s father. He looked after Marky and Molly when their mom was away and continued looking after them after her passing. He’s not only a devoted husband and father but he’s also a strong person. Scott knew Anissa was a Viltrumite yet he never showed fear towards her or their children despite knowing how dangerous Viltrumites are. In the scene where Robot kidnapped the Viltrumite children, Scott is the only parent that was injured. Robot only attacks people who are threats so it seems Scott tried to fight off Robot’s machine when he stole Marky and Molly. Scott also never showed hostility/resentment towards Mark despite their differences and complications with Anissa. Even when Scott told Mark they weren’t going with him he did it in a respectful manner. He accepted Debbie’s help with the kids and allowed Mark to visit Marky. Like Scott or not you got to respect him for that.

That man is the DEFINITION of “I can change her” AND DID. Also the type of father EVERY man should aspire to be. He was ready to go TOE-TO-TOE in a fight against Robot to defend his children.

A small detail I really like is that—after Anissa’s passing—Scott goes to comfort Marky and asks him to open/unlock his door. Marky has a lock on his door. The kid is like 5-6 years old and is allowed to have a lock on his door. Not only that, but Scott knocks and politely asks his young son to open the door so they can talk. Not yelling, not demanding— and he only forgoes those boundaries when he hears a loud, dangerous noise and believes his son could be hurt/is in danger.
