Here is my render for today, which is the tenth day of the month! It's to fit the "domesticity" prompt from last year. It's of Pyra and Sapphire cooking together!

Today has been extremely busy and so I literally only had about forty minutes to get this one done, but I'm glad I was able to still get it rendered and out before midnight, even if it's definitely not my best work by any means =P

Here is my render for today, which is the eighteenth day of the month! It's of Pyra and my self-insert Sapphire in combat together, always sticking close to one another even though they aren't bonded as a Blade-Driver pair to each other! Pyra is wielding her own Aegis Sword, while Sapphire is holding the Variable Sabre, which mirrors its design. Is this the first time I've shown her with a weapon, actually? This is one of the three that she's able to use, thanks to Poppi!

Give me a 🌙 in my inbox and I’ll give you a random headcanon about my selfship, F/O, or self-insert. - Alright, here we go!

For my selfship with Pyra.. one of the places that means a lot to us is the Dragon's Whiskers, one of the secret areas in the Urayan Titan. After Pyra asserted that - despite being a fire-element Blade - she wasn't adversely affected by water, Sapphire took her down through the lake in the Cataracts of Rujah, and the two ended up in this secret outlook that Sapphire herself named and discovered. Pyra was amazed by the view from that place, because there are glowing Saffronia trees everywhere, and you can see across the entire Urayan Titan to Fonsa Myma.

For my selfship with Perun.. Sapphire isn't necessarily reckless, but she can be very chaotic and try to do things mostly for the fun of it, even if she generally will back out if it becomes too risky. Perun, on the other hand, is much more careful and more of a strategist, taking after her Driver (who is not Sapphire, since she lacks aptitude, but instead Mòrag). I like to think this makes us a good pair, since Sapphire can help Perun get less caught up in pushing herself too far whereas Perun can help Sapphire act less instinctively, for example so she doesn't try and throw Zeke off a bridge (again).

For my selfship with Lora.. it takes us ages to confess our love to each other, though it does happen eventually at some point on the journey, because Lora doesn't know how best to go about confessing whereas Aline is too worried about whether Lora likes her back or not. This inability to make things official, in tandem with our feelings for each other being extremely obvious to everyone else in the party except ourselves, leads to exactly as many exasperated awkward pining moments as you might expect. Something, something, disaster sapphics (when it comes to romance, anyway)

And for my selfship with Vanea.. since both of us are up in Agniratha (albeit Mera makes trips up and down occasionally while Vanea is working), but it had to be abandoned so quickly when the Telethia attacked, I imagine a lot of the Machina who used to live there would have left things behind. So, one of the things Mera does is go into Agniratha to try and salvage and archive some of the things that the other Machina had to leave, and bring them back to their original owners in the Hidden Machina Village, before then making her way back up the Mechonis to reassure Vanea that the other Machina are okay, and to bring her something as a souvenir of sorts. For example, Ice Kiwi Fruit from the Fallen Arm, since they are said to clear the head which Vanea would need after working on Face Nemesis for as long as she does.

Alright, so, this one has a bit of a process to it. When I saw the “fairytale AU” prompt that was given for today by @sapphicseptemberhub​, my first thought was to make something for my mythical AU, which is a fantasy setting where all my selfships are canon simultaneously and almost all of my F/Os and self-inserts are present as various non-human creatures. (For example, in that AU, Pyra is a dragon stuck in a sort-of human form - with her aforementioned siblings being dragons who can choose to take a more humanoid form if they want to - and Sapphire is a werecat.)

But then I latched onto the “fairytale” aspect of the prompt, and accidentally realised how well a Sleeping Beauty-type tale would work for Pyra given how she canonically sleeps for 500 years, and then I came up with the story written above to flesh things out, and now I’ve possibly got a new AU on my hands, ahaha

To clarify Sapphire’s part in all this, she’s the rebellious daughter of a nobleman living 500 years after Pyra’s curse who likes going off on random chaotic adventures, and managed to stumble across the castle where Pyra was sleeping in the process. Since she knows the story, she figured it wouldn’t hurt to reach out to the princess, and.. well, that turned out to be what she needed to wake up again!

Here is my piece for the thirtieth and final day of sapphic September - it’s of Pyra and I (or rather, my self-insert, Sapphire) watching a fireworks display together! The fireworks were made by another Blade in the party, Crossette, who specifically created them to commemorate the occasion, and also to be quieter than her normal fireworks so that everyone in the party could enjoy them to the fullest extent!

Here is my piece for the twenty-third day of sapphic September! My self-insert Sapphire inherited the ability to restore Blades’ Core Crystals by crystallising ether. Pyra’s Core Crystal naturally has the centre piece missing in the game because Rex has it, but thanks to Sapphire’s help, she is able to fully restore her Core Crystal for herself - and in my version of events, this extra capacity is what allows her to reach her ascended state during the confrontation at the Cliffs of Morytha.

I’m sorry if this angle makes certain aspects of Pyra a bit prevalent. The game does this as well in numerous cases. I was just trying to show that Pyra’s Core Crystal is being restored.

For the first moon..

As you mention, Pyra and Sapphire do indeed canonically get married. I was going to say that this is actually the only one of my romantic selfships where I have actually established this, but that's actually not the case - Skye and Emily also get married as part of the story too. Pyra is the one who proposes to Sapphire, using one of her earrings in lieu of an actual ring, under the aurorae on the last night the party spends in the Leftherian Archipelago (so, near the start of Chapter 5).

However, due to the fairly high stakes of the current objective, i.e. stopping Malos and Torna, we don't actually get married until after the game ends, by which time both of us have also successfully obtained the blessing of the other's father (which is not as easy as it sounds when Pyra's father is the Architect, literal half-omnipotent creator of Alrest and sole surviving remnant of his universe left in it. Yes, this means Sapphire took the time to stay behind and ask him if it was okay for her to marry Pyra right before rushing off to the final boss fight).

Although I don't have much set in stone for the actual wedding itself, I think I still like the idea of it taking place in the Olethro Playhouse. You can see the World Tree (where Pyra is from), but are in Uraya (where Sapphire grew up). It’s also a very grand place, even if Malos did destroy half of it, and it has some significance to the Aegis Blades in general because it’s where Addam first awakened Mythra.

Haze officiates, because a combination of Sapphire’s ether crystallisation ability restoring her Core Crystal and Nia’s cell regeneration powers (which can resurrect people, as Chapter 6 shows) allow her to be revived as a special separate entity from any Driver in my version of events.

For the second moon..

I’m actually not 100% sure if my (or rather, Catarina's) reunion with Hapi post-timeskip still takes place anymore, because of how I have now established that Catarina spends her time bringing supplies to Abyss (where Hapi stays) over the course of the timeskip. So, technically, we wouldn’t need to reunite if both of us had been allowed to join Byleth’s house.

However, although Catarina is one of the Ashen Wolves and this would normally mean she does not ever appear as an enemy after the timeskip, I was considering having her appear as part of forces loyal to the Kingdom if she was not recruited into Byleth’s house, since her family on her mother’s side is from Faerghus and her older sister lives there (she would appear too, specifically as a Falcon Knight). Therefore, there is potential for her to be fought as an enemy at some point; I’m envisioning it as if you kill her sister then Catarina will be enraged and fight to the death herself, but if you defeat Catarina first then she will retreat instead (possibly being recruitable on Verdant Wind, like Lysithea is on Crimson Flower) and her sister will also retreat, so that you can still do Catarina’s Paralogue.

A reunion on the battlefield between Hapi and Catarina would thankfully not be as angsty as it could have potentially been, since Hapi is very averse to fighting to the death as shown by her voicelines while Catarina is not particularly especially loyal to the Kingdom as a whole, instead more being in it for her family’s sake. So, if she was offered the chance of joining Byleth’s forces, she would definitely take it for her own safety, and Hapi would of course be very relieved by this.

That’s about all I’ve got for the moment.

Like any cat, Sapphire gravitates towards warmth, and Pyra is naturally very warm to the touch. I myself have also been in a lot of pain for the past two days, and heat is pretty much the only thing that helps alleviate that. So, I figured it would make sense to render some Pyra hugs, because I’ve been thinking about her a lot lately ^-^

It turns out that most Gormotti have sideways-facing cat ears rather than the forward-facing ones I gave Aria, so I had to use a different format for them. I also experimented a bit more with how I add freckles, and I think it turned out looking pretty neat! There’s still more to add and tweak, like fixing up the shorts and giving her a purple scarf that looks like the top of Poppi’s cape, but this was a good point to get to given I did most of it just today, I’d say!

You can tell a lot about my self-inserts’ personalities from their hairstyles, and Sapphire’s is certainly no exception, haha =P

Just a quick little render for today! This is my piece for the ninth day of sapphic September, and I’ve made it according to the “adventure” prompt given by @sapphicseptemberhub​. ..The link may seem tenuous from the picture, but, a big part of my selfship with Pyra is us travelling together on a grand adventure through all the nations of Alrest, to help her reach Elysium. So, I knew I wanted to do something for this selfship today; I just haven’t had time to make something more elaborate, haha.

Sometimes, the true paradise is the world you leave in your wake.

Howdy Void!! I read your answer to my acrostic ask for Pyra and I'm now super, super soft for the idea of her having a low day where her insecurity of being a burden is a bit more sharp than usual but she tries to put on a smile; she makes dinner and Sapphire excitedly and graciously thanks her for the meal, taking her hands and telling her that she's always so in awe of all the amazing and wonderful things Pyra can do, that she's so lucky to know her, she can't imagine a life where she didn't meet her, and Pyra just tears up a little because that's exactly what she needed to hear and Sapphire is able to sit down with her and listen to her share her insecurity and soothe it away for her ✨🥺

Anyway bye I'm emotional and I love Sapphire and Pyra ✨💗

5. does your self-insert have any special powers or abilities? - Indeed she does! Most prominently, Alectra holds a Pyro Delusion given to her by the Tsaritsa, which gives her the ability to wield dark ashfire in combat. She deems this ironic. Due to the fact that she is not fully human, instead arguably being defined as a sort of vengeful ghost (she used to be a nightingale, but when she was killed, her will to live on mixed with Rosalyne’s anguish at her death, which sustained her spirit and rebirthed her in a human form), Alectra carries a couple of other traits as well. For example, she and Rosalyne - who of course is now Signora - are quite literally soulmates, since Alectra is essentially partially made up of her powerful emotions from that time. This means the two of us can sense where the other is regardless of distance - it’s the reason why Alectra felt drawn towards joining the Fatui in the first place, on top of her becoming disillusioned with how the archons ruled Teyvat.

10. how do the other characters feel about your self-insert and F/O’s relationship? - Since Alectra is Signora’s second-in-command, and she attained this position incredibly quickly after Signora chose her as a direct subordinate, I imagine a few of the other Fatui agents would be a bit resentful of Alectra’s status - though they would obviously never make this known. However, to those that don’t mind their current positions, I like to imagine that seeing the love we so clearly have and demonstrate towards each other does make them smile. On the other end of the hierarchy, Tartaglia in particular teases Alectra about her relationship because he is like a older brother to her, but does support her even if he and Signora are very different in how they operate.

15. how does your self-insert play a role in the plot of the story? does she help directly defeat the villain, support the heroes, etc.? - I already answered this one for Sapphire on a precious ask, but to give a summary of that again, Sapphire is one of the protagonists and becomes a directly playable member of the party! Her main motivation upon joining the group in Chapter 3 is to find out more about her origins and the ability to crystallise ether that she holds, as well as to help Pyra and learn more about her (because she has a crush on her), but she is also an active helper in stopping Malos and the rest of Torna, especially after Malos nearly kills her father Vandham. Most notably, despite the fact that Malos is essentially a demigod and his ally Jin is capable of moving at near-light speed and cooling things down towards absolute zero, Sapphire manages to get close enough to Malos to kick him off a cliff and down into the land that lies under the sea.

Secrets in the Springs

Sapphire, Pyra, Mythra, Nia and Poppi spend an evening relaxing together in Mor Ardain’s famous hot springs, where a couple of secrets begin to reveal themselves. In the process, Pyra makes an important decision. (1650 words) Replaces the XC2 cutscene “Secret in the Springs” from the start of Chapter 4. Content warning for some description of an old significant physical injury.

This is a piece I originally posted to my old blog, but I’ve updated it slightly to reflect some changes to the storyline and figured it would be good to post again! Don’t worry, it’s mostly much happier than the previous writing I posted here - especially once you get to the end, hehe~

The sandstorms from earlier in the day had thankfully settled down - the evening was still very warm, but a soft wind drifting through Alba Cavanich made the heat much more pleasant. Behind the inn that rested on Smùide Mountain, the group had taken the opportunity to relax in the local hot springs - Rex and Tora had gone earlier in the evening and appeared much more refreshed for the experience, but now it was the ladies’ bathing slot, and all of them were eager to spend the evening enjoying a relaxing bath together.

Sapphire in particular was not used to the arid conditions on Mor Ardain’s Titan, given that her homeland within Uraya was a much more subdued and watery kingdom, so she also relished the opportunity to try out the hot springs. By the time she had gotten ready, Poppi was already happily playing about in the springs, while Nia had her back to the entrance and only her head was above the water. Finally, Sapphire tentatively poked her head around the corner of the changing room, so that it was all that could be seen from within the baths themselves.

“It’s just us here, right?”

“Yeah, don’t worry!” Nia turned her head to smile, though Sapphire did think she looked somewhat nervous. “The inn seemed pretty much empty when we first got here, so I don’t reckon anyone else’ll be coming in.”

Poppi nodded in agreement. “Probability of interruption from other people very small. Therefore, is perfect time for all to enjoy springs together. The water very nice temperature, even for Poppi!”

“Hang on.. Should you even be in the bath?” Nia had turned back to face the mechanical girl, and was now looking at her with a tilted head to show confusion. “Won’t you rust or something?”

In response, Poppi shook her head and kept smiling, eyes bright as ever. “There no problem. Poppi made from special alloy. No rust or need for oil!” The faint orange glow of her leg joints was visible even through the water, showing that she was kicking them back and forth in her usual manner.

Sapphire smiled at this, only to then jump when she realised Pyra was standing right behind her. Except it wasn’t Pyra - where she expected to see kind red eyes instead lay cold golden ones, and the familiar short bob of red hair was replaced by flowing blonde strands.

“Wh- Mythra?!”

“Yeah?” She looked unamused.

“Sorry, mate, you really startled me there!”

Wanting to give Mythra some space, Sapphire stepped out from behind the entrance to the changing room into the proper springs area, prompting Poppi to look surprised and Nia to turn around because of that. Although she still had a towel around her body, the other girls could now all see several swathes of what looked like very old grazes on Sapphire’s arms and the backs of her legs. They seemed to have healed, yet still appeared somewhat serious.

“Wait, what happened to you?!” Mythra was first to speak up, sounding more worried than she ever really had. Her usual short temper still shone through, however - she seemed almost annoyed for not noticing the injuries beforehand.

“Oh, these?” Sapphire raised her arms halfheartedly, looking somewhat embarrassed. “Don’t worry. These are just left over from.. how I got to Uraya. Don’t worry, most of it’s all healed up by now. So nothing’s going to mess up the water or anything, I promise.”

There was a silence.

“..I guess I never told you guys about that, huh.”

“No, you didn’t. Not that I was awake for, anyway.” said Mythra.

“You don’t ‘ave to tell us if you don’t want to, though.” Nia added. “Only share what you’re comfortable with.”

Sapphire nodded. “Thanks, Nia. Um.. this isn’t exactly the place to go all in-depth about that kind of thing, so, ah.. I’ll just say that, from what I know, my parents and I were on a ship crossing the Cloud Sea when it capsized and got washed into Uraya’s Titan. A bit like you guys did, I guess, though there was.. a lot more of an impact. Honestly, I don’t even know how I managed to stick around long enough for Dad and his mercs to find me on one of their checkups.”

“Oh.. Are you sure you’re okay? That must have been hard..” continued Mythra, still looking worried. There was a flash of glowing energy, and suddenly Pyra was stood in her place, looking even more concerned.

“I’m so sorry for what happened to you, Sapphire! Nobody should have to go through such a horrible thing..”

“Pyra, please, I’m fine! It’s okay!” Sapphire said, a little too suddenly - quickly realising her mistake, she hastily tried to recover: “I- I really appreciate that you care so much, but, I promise I’m fine. Come on, let’s just enjoy the springs together.”

As she turned around to put her towel on the rocks behind her before lowering herself into the blissfully warm water, the true extent of Sapphire’s injuries became clearer - the old grazes were nothing in comparison to the massive streak of half-healed scar tissue covering most of her back and shoulders. Parts of it seemed to somehow reflect the low light from the torches and the glow of Poppi and Pyra’s Core Crystals, as if there were tiny specks of something shiny in there.

Nia’s worried expression had returned. “Saph, that really doesn’t look good.. You sure you’re alright?”

“Yes!” She still seemed slightly on-edge, but being in the water was clearly very relaxing for her. “I already said, it doesn’t really hurt. I’ve had all this for as long as I can remember; it’s just how I am. Trust me, it was a lot worse when I was little.”

“Poppi worried about Sapphire..” said Poppi, sounding sad. The stillness of the water and the glowing lights visible under its surface showed that she wasn’t playing about anymore.

“Aww, it’s okay, Poppi!” Sapphire turned and smiled at her again. “I’m fine, honestly!”

Pyra still wasn’t convinced. “You’d tell us if you weren’t, though, right..?” She crouched down at the side of the water and reached over to take Sapphire’s hand in her own.

“Of course I would, silly. Come on in, the water is amazing..”

This made Pyra feel more at ease, and she happily took the chance to sit next to Sapphire, who in turn was all the more grateful to be able to enjoy Pyra’s natural warmth in close proximity. Another silence then settled, though this one was much more natural, and the girls were able to take the time to properly enjoy the heat of the water and relax in the hot springs.

Eventually, never the quiet one, Poppi had something to say.

“Poppi has question for Nia.”

“Huh?”

“Why does Nia have-?” The artificial Blade’s inquisitive tone was quickly interrupted by none other than Nia herself, who at this point was almost entirely submerged in the water.

“Oh, I know what you’re gonna say, I think. Don’t- don’t worry about it.”

At this point, Mythra returned, automatically shifting away from Sapphire as she turned to face Nia herself. “I had noticed, too. It’s true, then, that you’re..?” She trailed off, not knowing how to properly word her own question.

“Mmm.. yeah.”

Mythra nodded. “Do you want us to keep it a secret?”

“I was.. a little bit embarrassed about all this, but.. Yeah, if you could, that’d be grand. Not like I could hide it here when it’s this dark, anyway. As long as you guys are all okay with me being here, then-”

“Of course, mate!” “Poppi is fine!” “Why wouldn’t we?”

The chorus of reassuring voices brought her an incredible comfort.

“Thanks, guys.”

Later that evening, once everyone had retired to their rooms for the night, Mythra noticed within herself that Pyra seemed nervous.

“Something wrong?”

“What? No! I mean.. We share memories, so you’d know if something was wrong, surely?”

“I guess that’s true. But, you seemed like you were coming to a decision of some kind. And I mean, I don’t really wanna pry if I don’t have to.”

“Haha, thank you for that.. And, you’re right about the decision. So, um, Mythra - what do you think about Sapphire?”

“Uh.. she seems pretty nice? But she isn’t someone you want to make angry, given how mad she was at Malos and Akhos. I wasn’t awake yet for all that time you two spent journeying through Uraya, so this was kind of the first time I’ve gotten to interact with her properly. I can’t say I was expecting you to get into a relationship, but.. You two make a good fit for each other, even if she is a little more energetic than you tend to be.”

“You really think so?”

“Wouldn’t have said it if I didn’t.”

“Ah, I suppose you’re right.. Sorry!”

“Why’d you ask that, anyway?”

“Well, it’s just, um.. It was so great for me to know that she’d be able to come with us after we left Uraya. I know she’s probably still worried about Vandham, but.. if his injuries have really been patched up as well as they seemed to, then he should recover without too much of a problem, right?”

“Yeah, Nia said Dromarch was able to get him stable once I took Obrona out and the ether came back.”

“Right, that was it. And, um.. Since we’ve been here in Mor Ardain, I’ve been thinking about something, and.. after that time we all spent together tonight, and being around her like that, I think I’ve figured it out. Sapphire is the person I really want to be with, for the rest of my life. ..However much longer that even ends up being.

I have no idea how I’m going to go about it, but..

I think I’m going to ask her to marry me.”

Today (the 6th of October) marks my one-year anniversary of selfshipping with Pyra, and although I haven’t been able to complete what I wanted to get done for this day, I still want to say that I love her so so much and I’m really happy to have found out about her as a character and played her game ^-^

So, a lot of what Sapphire does is very endearing to me, just because- well, she’s so adorable! But, one thing I do really admire is the way she can stand up to pressure from other people very well. More than I can, for sure. If someone is insisting she has to try a certain thing or do something a certain way when she’s already told them she won’t, then she’ll stick to that and doesn’t give in just for that other person’s sake. N-Not in a rude way, of course! It’s just- for stuff like eating food she already knows she won’t enjoy from knowing the ingredients, and things like that. And, she stands up for me and her friends when we’re in a similar situation, too. I tend to feel like I always have to do what makes the other person happy even if I know I won’t like it, so.. having her around has really helped me with that. I hope that answers your question alright!”

Luna: "As for myself, I adore my love’s little habit of saying hello to Pokémon she encounters, particularly the smaller species or if she was not expecting to come across one. Though they often cannot respond, clearly, the fact that this is an instinct for her is something I really do find very endearing. She also has a tendency to be more expressive with her movements whenever she is talking about something she holds passion for, which is another of her many traits I love. Given that she is not naturally as loud or demonstrative with her emotions compared to many others - my younger sister stands out as an example of such a character - it was something I took note of.

P - Pets - do they have a pet? if so, what kind and what is/would be its name? would you have a pet together? - Pyra doesn't have any pets, no! (Despite Sapphire having a number of feline traits - cat ears, fluffy hands, etc. - she doesn't count.) I could probably see her with a dog, like a golden retriever or something, though I'm not sure on names or anything. In the context of XC2 itself, it probably wouldn't be viable to have any pets, although I like the idea of Sapphire continuing to look after little plants and things, which.. sort of count, right?

Y - You! - what do they like about you? - ah crumbs, okay. One of the things that Pyra really treasures about Sapphire is how she never takes anyone for granted, and always appreciates things that other people do, whether for her or otherwise - since, that genuine gratitude helps reassure Pyra that she is in fact wanted, and loved, and she is not the burden on the world that she sometimes can't help but feel she is. She also admires that Sapphire is not afraid to stand up for what she feels is right, and fight back against those who would get in the way of that - which.. sometimes combines with her impulsive streak to lead to such situations as pushing a prince off a bridge, and then later launching the main antagonist off a cliff, but the protectiveness is definitely there and appreciated on Pyra's end. Those are just some of the things.

I've put the other two answers under the readmore, just so that this post isn't overly long on the dashboard.

R - Rainbow - what colours do you associate with them and why? - I associate Pyra with red because it's such a prevalent feature in her design - both her hair and eyes are red, plus it's the main colour of her armour, and the fact that her elemental powers manifest as fire also reinforces the link. Apart from that, however, there's also an association with the colour of her Core Crystal and ether lines (specifically the "emerald" that they appear as in-game, since her official artwork makes them way too blue for some reason and it doesn't look right). The colour is very nice, and it's also unique to her and Mythra, plus it contrasts well with the red in her design - so, it stands out to me. I'm not sure how clear this reference is - XC2-knowing mutuals, let me know if you spot it, if you want - but, it wouldn't be amiss to say that it reminds me of her spirit, too.

A - Art - do they draw or paint? what about any other kind of art? what’s their favourite style/subject/another artist who inspires them? - Pyra's art comes in the form of her cooking, since she specialises strongly in cooking and it is something she is not only very good at but enjoys greatly, too! As she says herself in-game, "as long as fire is involved, [she] can do almost anything! Fry, steam, grill - you name it. If you want ice-cream, though.. You might have to find someone else." I think she is very individual about her style of cooking, and even when she learns other recipes from various different nations across Alrest, she still is able to keep the dish recognisable while putting her own flair on it (and it's a flair that keeps the meal more palatable than Crossette's "everything becomes edible if you apply enough fire!" mentality, ahaha)
