Hey, everybody. Us admins feel it’s very important to address this issue, especially considering what was said on Twitter yesterday. Don’t worry, current members, we have no plans to close, but it has become increasingly difficult to not acknowledge JK Rowling’s toxic, outright abhorrent Transphobic rants on Twitter, given the ripple effect this has caused among the Harry Potter fandom. It obviously goes without saying that we here know trans rights are human rights. Though we understand a lot of people right now are struggling with their love of the franchise, we want to make it clear that this group does not stand with JK Rowling. We all share a love for Harry Potter and the universe she created, but rest assured she does not benefit at all from this group and we aim to separate ourselves from her in every way that we possibly can. We are proud to have a very diverse, and very close knit group of members, and a wonderful range of characters on the dash. Every single one is incredibly welcome here. 

This is a safe space for all and we hope we can all still enjoy what we have created without JK’s disgusting and hateful behaviour tarnishing that. If any of you are finding this difficult, the admins are here for you, as we know the rest of our members are too. If we can support you in any way then please do let us know. Hey there everybody! Ace and I are heartbroken to have to do this, but we think it’s time to make the official announcement. It would seem, as most rp groups do, Serenum has run its course and come to an end. We put a lot of energy, time, and heart into this project, despite facing adversity along the way and a handful of people who were determined to bring us down. As far as we are concerned, the group was a success, and we are so grateful to our members who stuck with us and were loyal throughout our five months. It seems most players have inevitably lost interest and we completely understand that sometimes all you need is a fresh start. So instead of dragging this out, and struggling to keep the dash active, we’ve made the (hopefully healthy) decision to let go. We’ve had a little interest in some open canon characters, and we don’t want to be unfair by welcoming new players into a group where the current players are not writing or engaging with the ooc. So we are closing the curtains on a project that has brought us a lot of joy. Without you guys, we couldn’t have lasted like we did, and we just want to say thank you one final time. It means a lot to us, and we couldn’t have asked for a better group. We hope you all feel the same way, despite the fading enthusiasm, and we wish you luck in your future rp endeavours. We will leave the ooc open for another 24 hours should anybody wish to say goodbye, but it probably won’t be long before Ace and I start a new project, so definitely keep an eye out for us. WHAT YOUR MUSE KNOWS:

Harry Potter has been working on creating a new system that connects the Metropolitan Police to the Auror and Magical Law Departments, anticipating a spike in Muggle related Hate Crime. When this collaboration takes place, Harry, and the Head of Magical Law, will work very closely beside a handful of carefully selected Muggle Police Officials to monitor crime. This will make it easier to spot crimes potentially committed by Wizards, but also follow patterns that lead to the arrest of Death Eaters.

This is common knowledge, often mentioned in the Daily Prophet and gossip magazines. A lot of traditional wizarding families, not all of them necessarily blood purists, think it is dangerous to become too entangled in the Muggle world. Others believe it is outright idiotic, and somewhat disgusting, to ally magical folk with Muggles. Some families believe the Wizarding World needs to communicate more openly with the Muggle world and that working alongside Muggle officials will lead to safer environments, less of a divide, and a healthier relationship with Muggleborns, Squibs, and Muggles themselves. It is entirely up to you how your muse and their family feel about this issue.

Harry Potter, along with every member of the Auror and Magical Law departments received a copy of the letter above. It is unknown who handed their letter over to the press but it has been printed on the front page of the Daily Prophet and everybody has been able to read it. If you don’t think your muse reads the Prophet or you would like to write them hearing about it for the first time in a thread, that is entirely up to you.

Death Eaters will have been aware of this plan, Dolohov wrote the letter under Grindlewald’s instruction and alerted his Death Eaters a week before the letters were sent. Your muse will only have known this if they are aligned with the Death Eaters. If you have a Death Eater muse and you would like them to have been in charge of delivering the letters or discovering where each of Harry’s children live (most likely by following and tracking them) please message the Main!

Harry Potter, Ginny Potter, and the Potter children have all been approached by the press for comment but so far have refused to cooperate. No statements have been given. The Ministry is working to look into the letters, though they seem to be impossible to trace.

Harry Potter’s letter was left on the doorstep of his home, but if your muse works in the Department of Magical Law, or the Auror Department, they would have found copies of the letter either on their desk, posted to their in-tray, or delivered to them by anonymous Owl. It is entirely up to you how your muse received their letter and what they did with their copy. If your muse works in the Auror or Magical Law department and you would like your muse to have been the one to hand their letter over to the press, please message the Main!

Harry Potter has placed his children under the observation of the most skilled and trusted Aurors in his team. He did so without his children being aware, and they will be monitored secretly unless they discover they are being watched.

As of this post, the plot drop is in immediate effect, though you don’t need to react right away if there are threads you would like to finish first.

Harry’s letter was left on his doorstep at 6 am and every other letter was delivered at the same time. The Daily Prophet (released at 9 am) is the issue with the letter on the front page.

Hey, wonderful new members! We had a think on the technology question and finally came to a decision. Apologies for being so easily distracted! So, Muggle Technology such as phones, computers, and televisions have made their way into the Wizarding World but they still aren’t considered common items. Muggleborns and Halfbloods will be far more accustomed to them and far more likely to use them than Purebloods who may not have been exposed to them at all. It’s entirely up to you how you choose to play this but please bear in mind that they probably still wouldn’t be using technology that they don’t desperately need such as cooking utensils and cars - The Admins

Hey, anon. I’m really sorry it comes across this way. We try so hard to be inclusive. We just hosted the second half of our event which includes pairing people together to make sure every muse is given attention, and so far only one major plot has directly involved Harry, and actually this plot began before I wrote him. There have been no major plots surrounding Arlo. Anybody has the opportunity to approach us with plot ideas and I do my best to accommodate. This is just a difficult position to be in because every one of my connections with Arlo, and all of his development centres around his relationship with James. To have a James who isn’t following the established backstory would essentially mean I need to reboot him and I’ve put so much time, love, and energy into getting him where he is today. I really hope you can appreciate that, and the fact that despite the skeleton, I did everything I could to leave as much open to the player as possible. Thank you to the anon who asked us so many questions last night! 

Without you, this list wouldn’t exist and I am lowkey very proud of it. It’s entirely up to you what your muse knows and what they don’t, but please be aware of their allegiance when deciding on their level of knowledge. There are some things only DA members will know and some things only Death Eaters will know. This list will also be available under a (soon to exist) page on the Main and we will post a link to said page in the Discord when it is ready. For now, please refer to this for anything you might need to know regarding Grindelwald, the DA, the Death Eaters, and the overarching timeline of this group - Admin Jessie

Early 2025 – Grindelwald, still scrambling to gain followers and traction after many years of lurking in the shadows, began utilising spaces available for witches and wizards to gain the attention of the public. Namely busking locations on busy streets where he was guaranteed to gather a crowd of at least twenty people at one time. These people then moved on to talk about the strange man they had listened to. Word of mouth is incredibly unreliable and stories ranged from plots of terrifying, coldblooded murder to the ramblings of a mad man who had the audacity to claim he was related to Gellert Grindelwald.

Late 2025 – Grindelwald began reaching out to Death Eaters and Purebloods who were known to have sided with Voldemort during the second wizarding war. Few had managed to avoid arrest after Harry Potter’s bid to send them to Azkaban, but after the first handful of returning recruitments, new witches and wizards began to pledge their loyalty. Sometimes these people would be from the families you would expect, sometimes their surnames managed to surprise even Grindelwald. Recognising the fact that he was now building significant power, he appointed Antonin Dolohov as his right hand man, and placed him in charge of relaying information. Dolohov is now the first and only point of contact between Grindelwald and his followers but only Death Eaters would know this. Grindelwald is currently in hiding. 

Early 2026 – Antonin Dolohov began pitching ideas to his new dark lord and Grindelwald gave him permission to do whatever he believed to be necessary. The main goal was not to harm anybody or become violent, but simply to strike terror and fear and remind people of the growing threat they pose. Antonin began his work by creating posters. The posters contain various slurs and hateful comments directed specifically towards Muggleborns and those with ‘tainted blood’ such as relations to Werewolves, Giants, and Veelas. They all mention the new Grindelwald (once again claiming he is Gellert Grindelwald’s grandson) and they are signed off with the line made famous by Dumbledore’s biography; For the greater good. These posters are attached with permanent sticking charms and have appeared in every prominent UK wizarding location. Some have even appeared specifically for people of importance to see, pasted to the front door of Ginny and Harry Potter’s home, and the door to the office of Kingsley Shacklebolt, current Minister for Magic. Witches and Wizards can unofficially volunteer to combat this hate through Teddy Lupin, who is leading the effort against these posters. Volunteers are tasked with locating new posters and pasting over them with posters designed by Teddy, containing messages of acceptance and inclusivity. This isn’t an official role and is not related to Dumbledore’s Army in any way so neutral characters are free to become a part of the volunteer squad. These posters are still appearing which means volunteers are always hard at work. If you would like your muse to be involved, please contact Sav.

Late 2026 – Alongside the posters, anonymous letters were received by various Ministry workers. Each one contained something specific to the department, a threat to overthrow officials or infiltrate various job opportunities. As Head Auror, Harry Potter was the target of many of these letters. Some of them threatened his family, some threatened his job, but every one mentioned Grindelwald’s relation to Gellert Grindelwald and his plan to eventually continue on his grandfather’s path. Nobody is sure how (an editor working under the Imperius Curse, Death Eaters would know this) but these letters were soon published in the Daily Prophet. The Ministry were trying to keep them hidden and newspapers were frequently recalled and reprinted. The damage proved to be irreversible though, with people taking photographs or notes, and clippings of these articles. The Minister was also targeted, along with Magical Law officials, and families well known for being Blood Traitors. Arthur and Molly Weasley received one, and so did Professor McGonagall, Rubeus Hagrid, and even Teddy Lupin who Grindelwald called a bestial abomination. Nobody has ever been able to trace the letters, and although they stopped appearing after a few months of frustration, people fear it is only a matter of time until they start back up again. 

Late 2026 – James Potter, tired of his family and friends being hounded, and beginning to realise the threat of Grindelwald wasn’t about to fade away, called upon his siblings and asked them whether they would be willing to restart Dumbledore’s Army. Of course, Lily and Albus immediately agreed, and together they have been running the group in secret. They know if the adults learn of what they are doing, they will be in a lot of trouble for endangering themselves, but they believe it is incredibly important to be ready to fight, and to have people watching for suspicious activity who aren’t directly connected to the Ministry of Magic. James will always approach people to join, and only when he is sure he can trust them. The group undertakes frequent meetings and missions, often staking out locations that would make for devastating attack targets, watching the Visitor’s entrance and the Employee entrance to the Ministry, hoping to take note of anybody acting suspiciously. They also take part in lessons on self defence training, disguise, espionage, and potion making. This group is still active and growing steadily.

Early 2027 (we are now currently in early 2027 but to keep things simple and save confusion when it comes to the varying age of our characters, we won’t specify when and you can use the guideline as loosely as you would like to, this just means refraining from anything that might give away the month including holidays, extreme weather like snow, and birthdays. If you would like your character to celebrate a birthday, please message the main and we can figure out the best way to do this) – The public are now incredibly aware of the Death Eaters and their existence. Though the years of inaction have lulled some people back into a false sense of security, no longer concerned by the threatening letters and ominous posters that have become a common feature of day to day life, Dumbledore’s Army remains on high alert, and the Death Eaters are plotting further techniques to create unrest without actively revealing themselves.

gotta be honest while your triggers are great and valid, some of the squicks seem a bit ott for an ooc community. i mean no mention of things like eggs? or farm animals? what if the topic turns to breakfast foods, and someone had scrambled egg but can't mention it for fear of upsetting someone? or works on a farm and while everyone else can share stories from work, they can't join in. i understand not wanting to upset people but it can also be a little alienating for others.

Hey anon! We appreciate your honesty but the reason for our squick and trigger page is to create an environment where everybody can feel comfortable. In the same way we don’t question triggers and respect them because we understand they are important, people are undoubtedly relying on the squicks being treated with the same level of respect. We hope our members are treating squicks with sensitivity even if they don’t understand the reasoning behind them. We don’t heavily police this but in terms of animal products, it is very easy to simply not mention what you ate for breakfast, and if doing so helps somebody feel comfortable within the group then there is no reason to feel frustrated by not being able to. In the same way, if somebody does work on a farm, we would like to remind our members that these lists are not a personal attack, they exist because for confidential reasons, the subjects cause stress or upset to certain members within the group. If anybody is feeling alienated, they are very welcome to talk to us off an anon and we can further discuss the issue, but we would love it if they could take a moment and consider how they would feel if they had a specific squick or trigger that genuinely upset them, and was questioned, implied to be invalid, and not taken seriously because members of the group couldn’t understand it themselves.
