Ok, I seen us talking about Thunders character development being revealing a few emotions and even though he’s a monotone character that shows little to no emotion(because of course he’s a robot) it’s cool to see a character show some emotion which means they aren’t really always emotionless all the time or something

But we’d never talk about shiny’s character development.

I’ve always thought about their emotions developing to the opposite of their previous one, like Thunder being a emotionless, monotone character, but later in the season he shows a bit of emotions which I believe is him actually caring about shiny (even though I thought his first time expressing emotions was when he was jealous or something idk) BUT LETS TALK ABOUT SHINY

We all know he’s the optimistic character, just a silly guy that dreams of being a hero( kinda reminds me of iron giant when you think about it) but what happens if it go’s down hill? Could’ve overheard someone saying the whole truth about how the citizens actually think of him, or maybe the team of the guardian robots(shiny, thunder, and I’m sorry, Astra and northern knight) have failed to kill a Kaiju that can possibly overpower them and it reminded shiny too much about the other time he fails to defeat a Kaiju YES IM TALKING ABOUT EPISODE 3, and it impacts shiny’s personality that he just almost act like thunder, always killing kaijus after kaijus to improve his abilities and strength, which is some abnormal behavior that the EDF and thunder thought, also if thunder ever tried to do the up high and down low high five to shiny, hopefully giving it a boost to getting him back to his silly behavior, shiny would just slap him with a, “why are you acting so weird, you don’t usually do that?” Or “oh I remember doing that, it’s just not something I do during a celebration of defeating a kaiju…anymore.”

What I’m trying to say here is, shiny could lose his immature, yet charming personality and just forgets his funny behaviors and speech like sky surfing with his brother, combining words that aren’t even in the dictionary but they can kinda make sense, …even his little dance😭. Even if this goes on to a certain episode where he finally snaps back and berates Alex for a valid reason…i wonder… *episode 3 flashbacks*

But of course, this could not be true even though we’ve seen him serious once which was in episode 8, it can’t really be used as an excuse for this theory I guess but please it’s not like it’s gonna happen, it will never impact the power of brotherhood :)

GUYS GUYS HEAR ME OUT I HAVE A THEORY FOR THE KALAXIAN OBLITERATOR This is a long rant, so bear with me. ahem In the episode "Put Me in Couch," Thunder wakes up Shiny and proposes a plan. Shiny immediately assumes it's about time travel, exclaiming, "WE'RE GOING BACK IN TIME, AREN'T WE??" While I might be overthinking it and it could just be for comedic effect, it got me thinking: what if the Kalaxian Obliterator is actually one of the brothers from the future who has traveled back in time, possibly seeking revenge for something that happened? Perhaps one of the brothers passed away, leading the other to seek vengeance against whoever was responsible. In this scenario, he could decide to become an overlord, aiming to conquer and exploit all the planets in search of an object that could somehow bring back their lost sibling. It would also explain the cruelty of the kalaxian obliterator, as the "future" brother might justify the actions taken in the past, believing that conquering and controlling the galaxy is worth the price of bringing back the lost sibling. Maybe he even believes the war and destruction he's causing are necessary sacrifices. And, Shiny has a "secret weapon" to use against the kalaxian obliterator, which might be reasoning with either himself or his future brother, this compared with my other theory that multiple people are controlling the kalaxian obliterator, but there's the big boss, which would be one of the brothers in this theory.

While it wouldn't explain why they tried to kill the brothers, maybe the henchmen received instructions wrong, and are trying to kill Shiny and Thunder when the kalaxian obliterator just wants them captured. and maybe, Shiny had a run-in with the kalaxian obliterator who instead of killing him wiped his memory instead of the O.R.T doing it, which would also explain when Shiny got back home and woke up in the e.d.f, instead of being like ''WOAH I HAVE A BROTHER!" He just says "and this is my little brother!" Almost as if he already knew.

He just doesn't remember how he knows. It's a futuristic show about robots and kaiju, so I wouldn't be surprised if they included the time travel trope. ANYWAY, END OF RANT. **leaps out the window and robs a Walmart**

The kaiju are actually naturally calm creatures that the kalaxian obliterator has collected from the planets it has harvested, and stolen their young, tested on, starved, ect, so when they get sent down to the planets their chaotic and aggressive. (I mean, who wouldn't be after allat and you just got thrown into a planet after being trapped in an astroid, OFC THEIR GONNA START ATTACKING EVERYTHING OUT OF BOTH CONFUSION AND ANGER )

I CANT REMEMBER WHO BUT SOMEONE HAD MENTIONED THAT CREED HAD SAID IN THE G.R.I.T.T.S EPISODE "I have seen the toughest robots cry and melt" and that sparked the question, were there other robots before thunder that got destroyed? Well I have a theory that THEY KEPT REBUILDING THUNDER because in the episode where shiny got upgrades me saw scraps of thunder and such, and the lady had said it was a "graveyard", to top this all off in the episode with the mites thunder had said "i may cease to exist" and shiny responded with "isn't your ai backed up everyday?" And thunder almost sounded sad saying that it would be a COPY of him and not really him.

Has anyone ever noticed that Colonel Creed wears a ring on his hand?

This most likely shows that he is married but throughout season 1, none of the characters including himself has ever mentioned anything about his spouse.

Here are my takes on what happened to them:

1. His spouse was most likely killed in a Kaiju attack.

2. She left him because of something.

But then in the episode "Boybotfriend", Creed says something about human love being weird and gross. So maybe he's just wearing the ring because it looks nice.

Fast work captures fleeting SGRB

Astronomers have confirmed the discovery of the second-most distant well-established short gamma-ray burst (SGRB) ever detected and the most distant with an optical afterglow.

Observations from a suite of the world’s biggest telescopes place the event at 10 billion light-years away, they say, squarely in the epoch of cosmic high noon when the Universe was in its “teenage years” and rapidly forming stars.

The appearance of an SGRB at such an early time could alter theories about their origins, particularly the length of time it takes two neutron stars to merge and produce these powerful explosions, as well as the rate of neutron star mergers in the young Universe.

“This was a very exciting object to study,” says lead researcher Kerry Paterson from Northwestern University, US. “Our research now suggests neutron star mergers could occur surprisingly quickly for some systems, with neutron star binaries spiralling together in less than a billion years to create an SGRB.”

The discovery is described in paper accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journal Letters and currently available on the preprint server arXiv.

SGRBs are short-lived, highly-energetic bursts of gamma-ray light. The light lasts for less than two seconds, and the optical light just a matter of hours before fading, so speed is of the essence in following up the optical afterglow.

NASA’s Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory sent out a worldwide alert after first detecting the event, now known as SGRB181123B, and within hours the Northwestern team had remotely accessed the international Gemini Observatory, using the Gemini-North telescope in Hawaii.

When follow-up observations were made using Gemini-South in Chile, the MMT Observatory in Arizona and the WM Keck Observatory in Hawaii, Paterson and colleagues realised SGRB181123B was likely more distant than most.

“The Gemini images were very sharp, allowing us to pinpoint the location to a specific galaxy in the Universe,” she says.

To uncover the SGRB’s distance from Earth, the team accessed a near-infrared spectrograph on Gemini-South, which can probe redder wavelengths. They were then able to determine key properties of the parent stellar populations within the galaxy that produced the event.

Because SGRB181123B appeared when the Universe was only about 30% of its current age, it offered a rare opportunity to study the neutron star mergers at a time when things were incredibly busy, with rapidly forming stars and fast-growing galaxies.

Ready, set, launch: time interval between BNS merger and short GRB jet formation. (arXiv:2001.00950v2 [astro-ph.HE] UPDATED)

The joint detection of GW~170817/GRB 170817 confirmed the long-standing theory that binary neutron star mergers produce short gamma-ray burst (sGRB) jets that can successfully break out of the surrounding ejecta. At the same time, the association with a kilonova provided unprecedented information regarding the physical properties (such as masses and velocities) of the different ejecta constituents. Combining this knowledge with the observed luminosities and durations of cosmological sGRBs detected by the Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) onboard the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, we revisit the breakout conditions of sGRB jets. Assuming self-collimation of sGRB jets does not play a critical role, we find that the time interval between the binary merger and the launching of a typical sGRB jet is $\lesssim0.1$~s. We also show that for a fraction of at least $\sim 30\%$ of sGRBs, the usually adopted assumption of static ejecta is inconsistent with observations, even if the polar ejecta mass is an order of magnitude smaller than the one in GRB 170817. Our results disfavour magnetar central engines for powering cosmological sGRBs, limit the amount of energy deposited in the cocoon prior to breakout, and suggest that the observed delay of $\sim 1.$7~s in GW 170817 /GRB 170817 between the gravitational wave and $\gamma$-ray signals is likely dominated by the propagation time of the jet to the $\gamma$-ray production site.

When I read this theory from @ramenthethird I loved it and thought it would be cool if shiny had to figure out to break the cycle of this loop(if it ever happens) til I remembered this theory I’ve was brewing in my mind and it was how did the overlord remembered shiny if they’d never seen or heard of him before, so maybe they wanted Vanessa(agent x) to bring shiny to them because they might know about the loop which involves capturing him and using shiny’s powers to charge up the ship to destroy some of the protagonist in the show and then just shiny waking up to the beginning of his first battle and then he just pretends to not know anything of what happened till he gets to the ORT to change something…

This could mean*GASP* in season 2 of my comic…I CAN MAKE SHINY STOP THE CYCLE AND GIVE HIM TO SEE THE-

Okay NOW this is about my ocs, Astra and Northern knight.

Astra is(unfortunately to her terms) a magical girl who is the first new character to appear.

Backstory: she was not a girl but was identified as a boy in their info before (🏳️‍⚧️) who worked as an asteroid collector in their own planet. While collecting asteroids, some mysterious creatures(Starbie) was wandering around till it started to charge at them and hit them to the surface of the planet, and when they woke up, they find themselves in a different planet and is now a magical girl(which means they’re not a identity male in their info anymore). This stressed her out and she becomes enraged by this but now has to live like this. She thought it would be like her planet, male bots that are pretty much taller than her, pick on a bit but in a playful way, and maybe a new job she’s gonna have to for now on. But it was much worse, from her feminine appearance and her new identification gender, she’s been thought of being “weak” and got her ass kick the fuck out by other robots, forbidden from many areas on the planet so that involves her to live in a nearby cave and this fueled her with wrath that she couldn’t hold in for a long time. Later on she discovered power that she uses for advantage to kill, she then made a rampage of capturing, killing every alien and bots on the planet and starts wiping out other planets because of the corruption she felt spreading around herself. Later on, she finds herself now in space alone and now fueled with regrets and grief for what she had done. This will continue to Northern knight backstory.

Northern knight is a top knight fighter of the Kalaxian Obliterator and is the second character to appear in the next two ep/ch

Backstory: Northern knight has been capturing and enslaving aliens and other creatures for no reason given by the Kalaxian Obliterator. He then discovered Astra and was ordered to take her to the ship. Over time, he managed to get Astra trust and accepted her as his sister and her older brother(older than Shiny and Thunder, and taller!). He even managed to calm her down and remove the fear, pain, and anger from her(but her trauma still remains). Unfortunately, The Overlord(#5) does not approve this behavior of theirs to the reason of Northern knight making Astra forget all of her phantom power/magic and leads her to just the other powers she has, while Northern knight is now distracted by comforting Astra instead of doing his only job, so they had made a decision to sent him on a mission to earth just to abandon him and left him the day thunder was in progress, which lead to Astra escaping the ship and now both Astra and Northern knight is roaming around the earth with no information of them being found or caught on record/camera.

Hopefully their lore/backstory makes sense and my brain hurts now and…goodbye!

muahahauahaha sgrb OC angst fanfic to warm up my typing skills

was gonna post this on ao3 but decided to post it here

Let’s be honest, Shiny was a Shipper of X and Thunder ever since he came back to earth, upon waking up in the e.d.f and seeing them standing side by side, he had immediately assumed they were partners- which seemed to stagger, insult the two and confuse them greatly when he brought it up and was surprised they weren't, and as he watched the two fight side by side and how accustomed they had grown to each other, his theory only grew, He’d made bets with coworkers of the e.d.f countless times, heck! Even Alex for that matter and once even creed, betting with the nonexistent money of his that one of them would eventually confess.

But, the months dragged on as neither of them confessed or looked like they ever planned on confessing, Shiny had known that X had arrived 4 years after he and vanished which would be around the time Thunder was built so they had known each other longer than Thunder and Shiny had known each other, one of them was going to admit their robot feelings…right?

Shiny, being his child self, grew even more impatient when even after the o.r.t had shut and reopened a couple of months later, X, who they had all thought was dead from a brutal fight with an opposing mech, was alive and repaired, heck even her voice box was fixed! Now she could finally voice her feelings correctly, maybe that was all she had been waiting for! And Thunder was bound to at least hug her, and congratulate her on being back and alive right?!

Every. Singal. Time. Shiny was proven wrong, Whenever quite an aggressive kaiju fight had happened in which one of the two almost died, Thunder and X’s gaze would linger for a couple of seconds longer than usual at each other before one of them would break the gaze and return to normal, or they would stand a bit closer than usual, neither of them would speak of it.

Then finally, Shiny had enough.

Another one of these scenarios had played out, and as all four mechs walked back to base, Shiny, Thunder, Ranger X, and Light (The recent addition to the team since a couple of months ago)

As they walked, they all exchanged small talk, talking about how the kaiju had been larger than normal and so on, and of course, Thunder and X walked next to each other, only centimeters away from each other.

As they neared the e.d.f, Shiny side glanced at Light who walked near, the two smirked and nodded, 

Suddenly, Light threw her arms up and hollered, catching both the attention of Thunder and Ranger X who stopped a conversation and looked over confused.

“X! I JUST REMEMBERED SOMETHING!” Light blurted, suddenly rushing over to her at lightning speed and grabbing her arm, As X seemed startled.

“FOLLOW! IFORGOTSOMETHINGFOLLOWFOLLOWITSREALLYIMPORTANT!-” She rambled on, pulling on X’s arm and dragging her by the arm, creating an obvious trail as she dragged X away whose feet were firmly planted in the ground,  extremely confused, and tried to manage a question before Light yanked her away.

The two brothers watched confused as the two female mechs got further and further away, X glancing back every once in a while, a brief word of “help” flashing onto her screen, before long they were far enough they were just colored dots.

“What's that about?” Shiny fake asked, trying to act oblivious, setting his hands on his sides and tilting his head.

When he looked at Thunder, He was already staring at him, that “I'm so done with you” look on his face.

“No doubt you had something to do with that.”

“What??? Noooo!!!” Shiny tried to object, but Thunder only folded his arms.

“What is it Shiny.”

Shiny sighed, thinking of where to start. “You and X,” He started, crossing his arms. “What's with that?” He cocked his head.

“What are you affirming too?” Thunder narrowed his digital dot eyes.

“What I mean is- you two have been friends for over seven years! When are you gonna confess?!” He blurted.

Thunder froze, his eyes widened and he grew dead silent. He just stared at Shiny for a solid minute, before Shiny could ask him if was alright or experiencing an error, Thunder quickly turned away.

“If you mean by confessing as in confessing ‘romantic feelings,’, that will never happen because we are robots, and robots do not experience love, shiny. Me and X are only companions, nothing more.” He quickly answered, looking as if he was about to leave.

“Wait!” Shiny quickly grabbed his shoulder, which made Thunder stop.

“Are you sure about that? No ‘companions’ look at each other like you guys do, nor do they confess their feelings for the other when they high-” “WE DO NOT SPEAK OF THAT.”

Thunder's voice came abruptly and Shiny nearly jumped, he let go of Thunder and had to stifle a laugh.

“Hey- just saying!”

“My AI was simply being influenced by the spores, manipulated, I did not mean anything I said that day-”

He tried to explain, But Shiny continued.

“Didn't you tell me shortly after X ‘died’ that you had regretted not telling her some stuff?” Shiny smirked, but Thunders's solemn expression remained, he simply averted his gaze.

"I was mourning. Now that X is confirmed not dead, I..." He stopped before speaking again. "Robots do not experience love," he said, returning to the first statement.

"You love me, don't you? I mean I'm your brother!!" Shiny slowly asked. Thunder thought for a moment and was slow to answer, finding he had been proven wrong.

"That is family love. I love you as I love Alex. But loving anyone is a great enough threat as it is, that's why Alex got kidnapped all those months back." Shiny thought back on the memory and how devasted and aggressive the two had gotten upon learning of this.

Thunder began again "If I am to love someone romantically, our enemies would discover it one way or another and will use that against us and use it to hurt more people."

“So…you do love her!” A grin crept onto Shiny’s face, but Thunder seemed unfazed, and maybe a bit irritated,

“Yes, But Ranger X and I are Companions, nothing more, and it never will be anything more.” He turned to leave, but as he did, his eyes flicked sideways for a moment and his facial expression softened for a split second, but he simply turned away and left Shiny in silence, pondering his answers. As he made his way back to the e.d.f.

Shiny stayed silent for a minute before letting out a heavy sigh and turned in the direction of where X and LIght were supposed to be in the distance, to signal them back over but froze upon facing the direction.

X and Light were already there, only a couple of feet away, Light’s pupils were shrunk and eyes were wide, she locked eyes with Shiny and slowly shrunk into her shoulders, knowing she had failed her job while X stood next to her, standing motionless and tall, the same blank look on her face, and deadly silent.

“X!” Shiny found himself blurting and nervously laughing. “How- eugh…um…” He cleared his nonexistent throat. “How much of that did you hear…?”

X didn't even turn to fully face him, her head was locked pointing straight forward, where Thunder had gone.

“Enough.” 

She walked past Shiny, not looking at him or Light, making her way back to the base and saying no more.

Shiny watched the two go, X, was a good distance behind Thunder, keeping a steady pace to not catch up to him, and walked with power in her step like she usually did.

Shiny grabbed the sides of his head and groaned before muffling his face in his hands.

“That's bound to make the next couple of days awkward,” Light hissed as she approached her brother.

The two stood in silence for a minute, before Light sighed.

“....soooooo…… where's my money?”
