Thoughts on zombies, and the possibility of there being an ACTUAL ZOMBIE VIRUS?

If the zombies are dead, insects would quickly obliterate them. If they are alive (i.e. the rage virus), other natural predators would likely take them down in short order. Both kinds of zombies would be extremely susceptible to heat, with undead zombies freezing or desiccating rapidly, while rage zombies would simple die of exposure. The zombies would simply not be able to travel very far before succumbing, which would limit their ability to transmit the disease.

The typical vector of transmission for zombies is also a highly inefficient one—if biting were a good way to spread a pandemic, most mammalian species on the planet would have been decimated by rabies by now. And on that note—zombies are driven by hunger. This is actually a really poor recipe for making more zombies, as a creature entirely devoted to hunger is likely to finish its meal. If a pack of zombies captures you, you wouldn’t join the horde—you would be devoured to the bones. While this makes for scary imagery, it does not make for a population boom.

While the existence of a Necroa virus is technically possible (though improbable), the idea of such a virus becoming pandemic is laughable.
