So yes I have been losing my mind over the Interlude Teaser. So many thoughts, but I'm going to focus on one in particular, My New Favorite Theory.

- Kaeya would constantly tease you & Diluc - Diluc would save you from most of the teasing though - If you like alcohol, Diluc would give your drinks for free. If not then he'll give you grape juice-still for free - Venti would bother you about getting free wine, since you get free wine already-why can't the two of you share? - you probably have a dendro or geo vision

- Albedo would ask you to take care of klee a lot & make sure she stays out of trouble - If you helped Klee go fishblasting, Jean would send you to the room with Klee ( I forget what its called) - Albedo would teach you alchemy along with Sucrose - Sucrose would also try to help you learn when Albedos gone, you both would study together and talk - You most likely have a hydro vision or Geo vision

- He would buy ANYTHING you wanted, even if it was  7.8 billion - Best sibling in the whole world (except for the part where hes a muderer and probably has commited a lot of crimes) - He tries to keep fatui work away from you but you sometimes get caught in it - Would teach you self defensive skills to protect yourself - Though most of the Fatui know you are his sibling and to automatically stay away form you - Its more protection against the abyss order - Childe tells you stories about his life in the Fatui often-but not the colder ones - You probably have a Hydro vision or Electro Vision

- Would treat you whenever you get sick - You visit her and baizhu often, hes used to seeing your face around the shop - You try to help her remember everything but fail most times - You keep a journal on you in case Qiqi forgot hers (she does sometimes) - In that journal is mainly stuff about you though - Probably have a Hydro or Pyro vision

- She tells you about her plan to ruin the wine industry - You watch her suffer every time her drinks are amazing-which you also love to have them sometimes - If you do drink, she doesn't like it and would rather you do it without her knowledge - You have a Geo or Hydro vision

The Mystery of Fontaine and Furina and Others;

I love the concept of hydro, its about justice, its about drama and most importantly, emotions. (Region is inspired from France). It makes sense because justice is about empathy, about caring about victims, its about emotions but sometimes, its also related to sempaty, the drama, because thats what happens when you are overflowing with emotions. Which perfectly fits Furina, the Hydro Archon. She is very emotional character but she hides that side of her for the sake of her land. She seems full of herself from outside but actually, very insecure and sensitive. Its important to remember that we didnt meet the Furina when she is not on public yet so we will see.

This sitution is most likely, its related to prophecy. I wonder, the reason is trials? The way trials work? The sin might people seeing other people's misery as entertainment or maybe the mysterious Oratrice, that somehow knows who is guilty, who is innocent. Maybe Furina was very afraid of not finding true justice, very scared of sending innocent people to prison, that she started to rely on this machine but it end up resulting water's overflowing? Furina seems to know why or at least has an idea whats going and she seems to handling things on her own way but it seems to fail miserably. Or maybe this land suffers from self-fullfilling prophecy. They or Furina believe and pay attention to prophecy too much that they unconciously turn it into reality. Maybe its related to 'overflowing emotions, the tears'. Furina's design is, her necklace, especially her eyes are include tear design too so yeah.

Freminet talks about Furina in his voicelines;

First of all, kudos to Freminet for being the only person who actually understand Furina, somehow.

All this talk about Furina by Freminet and the trailer picture might be important clue in the future. Maybe Freminet will be one of the first ones who will find out Furina's secret.

Lyney mentions that his 'naive' brother Freminet believes in fairy tales' in his voiceline but i wonder what is this fairy tale he is talking about, maybe it is really true and its related to Furina's secret, as reference to Furina being fairy since her design also resemble it.

This hydro archon quest is really dark, both with people turning into water as experiment and Lyney and Lyneytte's backstory. While they might be good people (which we can see with their relationship/gratitude with Cesal) and they still have their own agenda as fatui members.

We dont know what Arlecchino is planning but Wanderer and Childe said she is wolf in sheep clothes in his voice lines so most likely, she uses twins and other orphans for her plans but we will see. Its also interesting that every fatui member is doing something? with their own homeland. Signora with Venti in Mondstad, (Not sure about Liyue part), Scara with Ei in Inazuma, Dottore with Nahida in Sumeru and now, Arclecchino with Furina in her own homeland Fontaine? I wonder this is all planned by Tsaritsa or she just lets them take revenge on their homeland as they please. Well, we will see.

Neuvillette is really look and act like Hydro Zhongli. I thought he might be Edgeworth like Ace Attorney Game since game is turning into one (more realistic version, thankfully but he seems softer than he looks, maybe more mature version of him). He seems a lot more human/passive than it seems but also powerfull secretly. Its also been theorized that he might be hydro dragon, elemental creature and if thats the case, he seems to hiding this for some reason, (wonder if he hides this from Furina too), and he secretly cries/being sad and thats why rain starts.And i think its worth to remember that for some reason we never see 'guilty/not guilty' results, he is the only one who looks at results or maybe there are no results at all and he makes it up? If he is elemental creature, he might also be related to Primordial sea or at least, he might know something about it. We will see.

And Childe backstory, him somehow awaken something and it seems to be relating people's disapperance with water. And his dream in deep sea. Very interesting. I love how he randomly shows up and meets with traveler and he sure is close to being one of the main characters in the story. And the fact that he will stay in prison until 4.1-4.2 is very funny, lol. You wait for us, Childe.

And my general opinion about the characters; I really love Furina, just like Ei, she is very interesting deep character. She is also very entertaining and i love her design. She is my favorite archon. Cant wait to get more of her. I like Lyney, Lynette and Freminet but for now, i love Lyney the most, compared to them, he is such a cute, gentleman. Childe is of course, one of my faves and he definitely should interact with Furina and others more, lol. I am notr with Neuvillette and Clorinde and cant wait to find out about them and his dynamic with Furina. Navia is design is very good and character too but i wish she get less screentimes in archon quest since this is not Navia quest, lol. Generally, i love the animation, characters, music, concept, and story. And hydro is my favorite element, i love everythig about it. Anyway, we will see with other characters/things later so for now, thats it.

kinda obsessed with citlali... minus all the weird waifu bait bullshit with the traveller she's so incredibly tragic as a character. living so long that she'd rather have people fear her than make real connections that will be lost when they die and she lives on? thats so sad. she kinda gives me furina vibes tbh, the way she's really so alone. not to mention her actually having substance abuse problems, which, like most characters with actual drinking problems in genshin is played almost completely as a joke, but her version is way more.... extreme than say, venti or rosaria? her saying she's mastered the art of moderation hits hard to me, its a common form of lying to yourself as an addict that i'm uncomfortably familiar with. alcoholism is unfortunately often seen as a punchline addiction, and if genshin was a better game citlali's dependence on it would be explored more tactfully. is it somehing she uses to cope with the fact that she's afraid to make meaningful connections? or that she's pushed away anyone that might actually form one with her? hell, is she just BORED with life and needs something that 'takes the edge off'?

also, the way the traveller deliberately thinks about her insecurities (like having a messy house, or sleeping a lot) when they know she can hear them is kinda cruel as well? i know the traveller Can Do No Wrong but citlali is portrayed as very obviously insecure, despite the persona she projects, and i interpreted these moments as the traveller thinking these things in order to needle her. imo, especially since what the traveller says/thinks so rarely matters in the grand scheme of things, it's once again a throwaway joke, akin to something paimon might do for fun (and be admonished for). the way the traveller interacts with citlali highlights a lot of failings in their writing .

idk maybe i'm looking for better writing in the natlan story and characters, like that which was showcased in sumeru and fontaine, but seriously. mavuika is basically a cardboard cutout of a character with an extremely generic personality and motivation, hardly any complexity. other characters are flat stereotypes that border on offensive, generically "nice", or "evil" characters that aren't actually bad, just misunderstood,and they like the traveller of course.

citlali feels like she has some complexity because she actually has legitimate problems, like a quick temper and actually being quite violent?? her alcoholism, sleeping in, messy house, like girl has a case of MDD that's overlooked bc ipeople are afraid of her. the biggest flaw in her writing once again comes down to the traveller's personality center of gravity, the way she HAS to like them and think they're special and treat them different. goddamn have her beat the traveller up for thinking mean things about her or for assuming they have a "thing" bc the traveller has to charm and seduce every character they meet, especially the inaccessible ones.

Natlan Archon Quest Act 1, 2 Reaction

That empty expanse between Sumeru and Natlan that doesn’t have any people or wildlife is jarring. I only realized AFTER I got there that there was a teleport waypoint past all that that had automatically unlocked, but I couldn’t see it cause it was hidden by the archon quest symbol. 

Can’t believe the Traveler and Paimon didn’t wanna ask how the Echoes’ Chief suddenly recognized us. 

Love the cutscene of the Traveler switching between elements. 

Kachina reminds me of Bennett. I expect us to learn about his origins in 5.X

Ranting about Natlan part 2 (act 2)! Whohooooo god I am dying from heat.

Its actually not all negative this time. Its less just ranting and more thoughts of the Archon quest.

I ramble at the lack of stakes or tension at the end. That part's actually me venting frustrations.

TL:DR; quest is disappointing because it could have gone in a very fresh and tense direction but it doesnt because this is 2024 Hoyo.

I hope someone understands my boredom with this. I lean back in my chair and go "and SURELY no one will burst in and save us from being trapped in the Abyss for more than 5 seconds, aaaaand there's the Pyro Archon. (yawn)" because it has happened so many consecuative times by now that its not tense or exciting any more.

16. I feel like Natlan would've been such a good story if we didnt JUST arrive here. It feels like there is a lot of sentimentality here, but I dont get invested in flashbacks and sob stories.

17. People claiming that the Traveler is just a spectator so its fine if they dont get stronger or have a character are sure is quiet after this quest.

This quest was pretty disappointing. Again, repeating myself over and over, but Natlan's biggest issue is that its the 6th region and Hoyo's baits never land so I've stopped grabbing at them.

You know what would have been a plot development that would have rekindled the fire of excitement inside of me? If we ACTUALLY got trapped in the Abyss, instead of having another bait of literally anything bad happening to anyone ever.

Can you imagine the plot if we got trapped in the Abyss for an extended period of time and had to survive and scavange for things to eat while trying to retain our sanity as we search for a way out?

Wouldn't that be fresh and exciting and something we haven't seen before?

But that would be something bad happening to our characters and we cant have that! No no boys and girls, nothing bad ever happens to the heroes! But we will sure keep baiting that it will happen! Are you still nibbing at the baits? Are you still worried for them? We will never actually do it but we will keep casting baits!

I want to be proven wrong so fucking badly you dont understand. Hoyo used to write stories I actually got invested in because at any moment, with a few wrong moves, something bad could happen to the characters. Not even death! In the [Seele] cinematic, Bronya could have been trapped in the Sea of Quanta and Seele would have had to go back in to pull her out (which is what she does, but it could have been a 1-chapter arc if Hoyo wanted to). But moments like that never happens any more.

We could have been trapped in the Abyss for an extended period of time before Mauvika found and rescued us and everyone could have escaped with their lives!

But NO! Instead we find Kachina right away, solve a small part of the problem, get baited with being trapped there before instantly being rescued and Kachina gets treated right away and SHES PERFECTLY FINE. THEY BAITED HER DEATH EARLIER TOO.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHY IM NOT FUCKING WORRIED ABOUT ANYONES LIVES?!

IF THERE WAS ANY CONSEQUENCE AND ANY STAKES AT ALL KACHINA WOULD AT LEAST HAVE BEEN AFFECTED FOR A FEW DAYS BUT NO, SHES PERFECTLY FINE.

So the RP-verse is me and Chara's version of Genshin told through our discord roleplays and our personal headcanons.

The majority of it tends to circle around whatever characters we hyperfixate on for whatever period of time. Example, at the beginning, it focused mostly in Mondstadt bc Chara was fixated on Venti and Kaeya and I was fixated on Diluc, Rosaria, and Benny's Adventure Team. Currently, Chara is fixated on Freminet, Lyney and Lynette (whom we have dubbed Orphan Trio) while I have fixated on Furina and Neuvillette.

The basis of the universe is mostly the same, its just riddled with a lot of self-indulgent bullshit. Like, the most recent headcanon that has been added to the list is that Candace and Kaeya are distant cousins.

Other self-indulgent headcanons from the RP-verse:

Gorou is a trans woman who changes her name to Hina after she discovers that Miko is using her image for a waifu

Diluc and Eula are in a marriage of convience, currently still just engaged. Eula doesn't want to be a Lawrence anymore and Diluc would like to stop being hit on when he's manning the bar at Angel's Share. It's a win-win.

Arlecchino uses she/him pronouns. She also still goes by "Lord Arlecchino" instead of "Lady Arlecchino".

Yoimiya, Heizou, Kazuha, and Tomo are all members of the Arataki Gang.

Xiao and Kokomi are dating. Kokomi is also married to Hina. Xiao is also dating Aether.

Heizou and Tighnari are dating. Tighnari is also married to Cyno. Heizou is also dating Kazuha, Aether, Xiao, and Venti.

Aether has a very large polycule. His boyfriends include: Kaeya, Kazuha, Xiao, Albedo, Venti, and Heizou. I think I might be forgetting one, but I cannot remember for the life of me.

Ayato and Itto are dating.

Ayaka and Sara are dating. Sara is also married to the Raiden Shogun. Not Ei! Specifically the Shogun. Ei is married to Miko.

Heizou and Sara are found family, they seeing each other as siblings. It eventually culminates to the point where they each change their surnames to the same one; 'Fujiwara'.

Heizou wears one of Sara's tengu feathers braided into his hair.

It's been ten years since Diluc's 18th birthday and the Ragbros are forgiven each other and reconciled more-or-less, but because they're both too proud, they've never spoken their apologies out loud. It's still messing with their relationship.

Lady Ragnvindr (named Aurora) is still alive and the only reason she's not in Mondstadt is because she left for Natlan when Crepus died and Diluc left for Snezhnaya. I think this one might actually be canon, but I don't know enough about Miko's lore to say anything. But! Miko raised the Kamisato siblings after Lord and Lady Kamisato died. She is the reason Ayato is Like That. Ayaka is also Like That, but she is so much better at hiding it.

Ganyu gives Childe archery lessons after Zhongli and Childe get engaged.

Albedo has been sent many letters from the Sumeru Akademiya, requesting that he become a Spantamad professor, but he just ignores the letters.

Sucrose is a current student at the Akademiya. She's currently using her abroad study time to be back in her home of Mondstadt to learn under Albedo. She is an Amurta student with some heavy interest in Spantamad teachings as well.

Cyno, Yanfei, and Heizou are with Aether when the Traveler goes to Fontaine. Instead of Aether being Lyney and Lynette's attorney during their trial, Yanfei steps up. Heizou punches Lyney in the face after he learns Orphan Trio are Fatui. Cyno has an autistic amount of interest in the Oratrice.

Heizou has trauma about the Fatui. He had taken an obsessive amount of interest in a missing person's case that Aether had filed for Lumine's disappearance. Heizou eventually got a lead about a potential sighting of Lumine and he ended up walking into a trap laid by the Fatui. His arm was broken and he almost got shipped off to Snezhnaya where he would have presumably been killed for meddling in things he shouldn't have.

Oh, yeah, the Fatui that Heizou almost got kidnapped by were under Arlecchino's command, so Heizou has it rough in Fontaine.

Wanderer is named Tozen which is an Inazuman name that means "the deserving one".

Kaeya and Heizou join Aether when he goes to Sumeru.

Instead of Aether doing the Sumeru Desert questlines, Kaeya and Heizou run off to do them. They take Kaveh and Nilou with them. Jeht ends up falling in love with Nilou. Liloupar and Sorush get attached to Kaeya.

Kaeya knows how to weild a catalyst and he becomes a healer during the Desert Quests. He's kinda shit at it, but he's decent enough that no one bleeds out after they have a run-in with a Consecrated Beast.

Since the traveler is your main vessel, their aura feels similar, if not exactly the same as yours. The poor traveler has to keep their room locked whenever they aren’t there to prevent any of the other acolytes from either taking things, or doing gross stuff with the items in their room. Especially with their bed. Let’s just say that that specific piece of furniture has been through a lot.

Others may think that they were overreacting, but your opinion of them means so much more than weird stares of onlookers. Is this why they haven’t been on your team lately? They’ll make it up to you, they promise, so please don’t hate them!

If you were in the teapot, you might spot them dreamily staring into space, talking about you to themselves when they are in that spot. Just be careful not to walk in on them “heavily appreciating” their area. This is the third time this month the traveler has had to clean it, and they assure you its nothing you’d want to see.

Just ignore the heavy breathing coming from over there. Wouldn’t you like to spend time with the traveler instead?

If your whole teapot is nation themed.

The archons are having a field day.

Since you choose to decorate the whole teapot as their country, this means that you like it. And by extension, them. They WILL NOT get rid of their smug grin when the other archons get invited to your teapot.

If your teapot is Mondstadt themed, you already know Venti is out there being an absolute menace. The sheer amount of teasing and snide comments would be enough to break anyone’s composure. There has been many cases in which a meteor was almost sent down within the teapot. Since then, Tubby created a rule book. Number one: No great mass of elemental power will be used inside the teapot, for general safety of guests and The Creator’s decorations.

If your teapot is Inazuma themed, Ei wouldn’t be as verbal about her obvious superiority, but her thoughts are clear through her expressions and actions. Perhaps another archon is talking about an architectural style native to their region. She would huff, and make an effort to show them it’s Inazuman counterpart, which was featured in the Creator’s serenetea pot. “Since the Creator favors this style, maybe you should make an effort to change your own to their preferences?”

If your teapot is Liyue themed, Zhongli would be proud. Proud of his nation, and all that has come from it. Not only have you decorated the whole pot in the image of Liyue, but you are using the serenetea pot itself, an adeptial device. Even if you were to redecorate it as another region, you are still using and loving the serenetea pot, which is enough to bring a smile to his face. It truly is a shame that the other nations don’t have the technology to give you a gift you actually appreciate.

i wanna share the genshin impact ships i enjoy and why (mostly rarepairs)

Rosaria/Kaeya - undeniable trust and friendship turned romantic interest. though capable of forming a relationship, their occupation and circumstances prevent them from fully pursuing it. Even if all factors could ignite mutual interest, the fear of ruining the friendship they harbored would stand in the way. What's important in a lonesome city is the same stranger who is looking for the same comfort you seek. Frequent liar or not, he's quite the personality to have around.

Jean/Diluc - everyone says they are exes turned lovers however I view them as the failed chance at love. They are friends who knew each other since they were learning to walk type of friendship. The first love you never forget. If they were given the chance, they could say what they want to the other. "You look even better after you became a stranger to me, pretty woman"

Yelan/Ningguang - The what could've beens. similar to jealuc but in ninglan it's focus is more on the one-sided, unrequited type of love. (using Beiguang for this example) watching the one you love fall for someone you know she deserves hurts. It hurts because you know you could've been with her if not for your own issues. thankfully she will never know you love her since that love will die with you

Rosaria/Jean - oh god where do i begin with this. The "outcast" meets the city's beloved individual. For someone who feels they never belong, its confusing to have the city's hope make excuses to see you. Rosaria and Jean's relationship begins with jealousy due to the nun and the idol deaconess' relationship. What makes Barbara look at Rosaria the way Jean always wanted? Filled with concern and trust that only families have for one another. Giving that to a complete stranger is agonizing.

Lisa/Jean - coworkers to lovers <3. A workaholic learning the simplicities of life from the reliable, easygoing, gentle person. When she'd forget to take care of herself mentally, she'd be there. Unknowingly providing comfort with just her presence alone.

Beidou/Ningguang - Two people who rule and have a significant influence on the community. Bickering and arguing over the smallest things yet loving each other for the same reason. What makes these two so wonderful is the fact that they both witnessed each other overcome difficulties in their own manner. They both achieved goals that brought them together in some way. Competing with which one would make the other prouder.

Venti/Zhongli - centuries have gone and past, and yet home always had the same eyes and breeze. When it comes to gods, the only one they could consider as equal are the same immortals who suffer with them. Why does meeting each other again bring so much comfort and pain? How many friends did they watch come and go like sand through the wind? Thankfully, they can overcome these uncertainties together. Until they could no longer control the corrosion within them.

Surcrose/Rosaria - When your curiosity leads to people questioning your character, the person you gravitate towards is someone similar. Sucrose would have a lot on her mind and would desperately need someone to talk to. Rosaria always wanted to learn more about the world but never had the guts to say it out loud. The mutual silence between them could be a conversation. "I have something on my mind, but I have difficulties saying it" and "Take your time. No rush."

Kaeya/Albedo - Understanding your past from the product of the past can be an interesting combo. Kaeya and Albedo are two perspectives of the Khaenri’ahn existence. The truth is never black or white, in fact, the truth is always relative. Messing around with your coworker because of mutual origins grives a sense of comfort in the city where everyone knows everyone.

Ganyu/Keqing - coworker who has false impressions towards each other. A tender and careful love formed from the desire to protect their city. Patience is a virtue especially for Ganyu. However, with all the years she had lived, days with Keqing always felt like love personafied.

Xiao/Traveler - what cannot be may be. One's duties always hinder relationships, but there will always be someone stubborn enough to reach out. Someone once said that unnecessary suffering is not a proof of strength. Relying on others is difficult but if it's with the person they love, one could only hope that they're not a burden. Thankfully, they don't give a damn about your stubbornness and go out of their way to talk and spend time with you. Since you know that these times wouldn't last.

Ayaka/Yoimiya - The different lives we live shouldn't turn us into strangers. In a life where expectations are laid upon you, finding freedom and happiness incarnate is like grasping sunlight. Ayaka knows she has her duties but spending time with Yoimiya makes her forget the time. Grief and loss often isolate us from relationships (including socioeconomic circumstances). Thankfully the eternal shogun's antithesis stays by your side.

Itto/Sara - Our beliefs do not align, but if someone talks shit about the other. Someone will be getting punched or electrocuted. Being a Yokai in human society always leads to discrimination unless you are equipped with power and unimaginable influence. Seeing each other's most vulnerable sides in the most unexpected times always led to curiosity. Curiosity leading to interest. And interest leading to fondness.

Al Haitham/Kaveh - Unconventional ways of saying "i love you" almost always lead to someone's wrinkly forhead. If turning himself into Kaveh's personal screaming outlet would let him relax, Al haitham would gladly do it. What happened in the past has long gone, and what's left is to continue. Is it so difficult to let him love you?

Candace/Dehya - Every neighborhood child's first loves daring each other. Duty is always the priority. Traveling the world will come one day but not today. If that is someone's belief, then someone will bring the world to them. Even if it's small material gifts, its treasured dearly. Just make sure not to come home bruised and covered in wounds. Else a medicated scolding (and some kisses) would be perscribed by the village's resident guardian.

the difference between inazuma and natlan, widely agreed to be the worst regions in the game, is fascinating bc they're bad in opposite ways, inazuma being a great concept w shitty execution and natlan being a horrible concept that's well excecuted, but bc of the same reason, which is that hyv is scared to portray any of its regions or playable characters in a negative light.

natlan can't be literal hell where no one enters and no one leaves like it's been described as for YEARS before its release, it's pokemon world w dinosaurs where everyone gets along and the hot springs are a tourist location, the war only involves a few ppl once a year and half the time if they die they don't stay dead, civillians are never involved and it's against a pure evil bad enemy that's the aggressor, it only affects daily life and civilians for less than a week in universe where everyone fucking dies all at once and then the power of friendship wins and everyone that survived is back to normal. the abyss is totally responsible for the fall of khan'riah and not the other way around despite Every Version B4 Natlan Implying Or Outright Stating The Opposite, so now you don't need to worry abt playable characters like venti and zhongli taking part in what was basically a genocide or the abyss order having a point actually. lumine was the princess of khan'riah actually despite this contradicting literally everything else. there was no war in a happy place like natlan until the evil no nuance abyss order attacked, despite the fact that we have references to war in natlan pre-dating the abyss order and the first in-game reference to the region was venti calling the pyro archon a warmonger. also all the characters are gimmick characters who were clearly made in isolation then thrown together. no nuance allowed but at least it's well made.

inazuma meanwhile has the opposite issue, where inazuma is objectively portrayed as a shitty place to be by everyone and everything in the game but for every moment of 'inazuma fucking sucks' there's another 5 'yayyy isn't inazuma fun' moments. like inazuman politics are portrayed to be cutthroat which is lightly explored w ayato but then hyv likes to pretend he doesn't exist and when ayaka makes her big dramatic 'i want to have fun w my life instead of being the perfect princess all the time' decision it's just ignored how that might be a politically dangerous decision, as is ayato's friendship w Literal Gang Leader arataki itto. despite the tense political climate p there's p much no one who feels negatively towards various political figures, most notably sara, ayato and ei. foreigners are mostly restricted to a certain area and yet the inazuman public isn't portrayed as xenophobic? logically speaking thoma should get called slurs every time he leaves the house. there should be excecution warrants out for kazuha and yoimiya at Least. the ratio of gimmick characters to characters who logically make sense in this region is equal but the gimmick characters get priority. it was actually one of ei's puppets that killed kazuha's friend and countless others so she can't be blamed for all that. yae miko is there and does nothing but undermine ei's potential development by peer pressuring her into a good choice and be hyped up by the writers. scara is also there and does fucking nothing but at least he sets up a damn good plot for ver 3. kazuha briefly uses one of the coolest powers ever and then it never gets mentioned again. the world quests are consistently more interesting than the story quests. this is just the tip of the what's wrong w inazuma iceberg.

like inazuma at least HAD potential which it squandered, every piece for a damn good region was there and it just repeatedly failed to utilize them to their full potential, it would not take that much rewriting to fix inazuma. natlan on the other hand, actively avoids potential and repeatedly contradicts events which happened earlier which might leave room for nuance if left as they were originally presented, the only way to fix natlan is to start over.

one of the most common criticisms i see of natlan (which i agree w wholeheartedly) is that there was more war and inazuma than in the literal nation of war, and ppl like to counter this w 'well inazuma wasn't good either' and like. yeah no shit. there's a reason why ppl point to sumeru and fontaine for their examples of good regions and not goddamn inazuma. that's not what we're talking abt rn though.

wanderer as nahida's right-hand is perfect. they both have a history of abandonment, neglect, and exploitation, plus for similar reasons.

nahida was imprisoned in the sanctuary of surasthana for centuries, left to wither as a failed god her people chased the shadow of a 'better' ideal: greater lord rukkhadevata.

wanderer was abandoned by his mother in shakkei pavilion because he was the failed prototype for her ideal ruler of eternity: a puppet who could execute the lightning's will without regret, whom she intended to create after having makoto die in her arms.

the people involved in wanderer and nahida's pasts - both, in a sense, have convinced themselves that their actions were for the greater good. the sages don't even see nahida is a god, much less a human - to them, all she is is the reminder of what sumeru once had and never could again.

raiden ei abandoned kunikuzushi because she saw him cry, and, knowing he could never be the shogun she needed, left him to his own devices. it's been stated in canon that ei believed she was setting kunikuzushi free. and maybe she was, during those dark days after inazuma's first archon died. but, perhaps, what drove kunikuzushi to assign her actions as 'abandonment' was the fact that he was, in a sense, a lesser god. that he was created for reasons he didn't know. the first thing kunikuzushi did upon creation was cry - in the same way that a baby's first instinct is to cry, because their first impulse is to seek help. from this perspective, the thing kunikuzushi needed the most was guidance and acceptance from his creator (because he knew he was created by someone), while the thing ei thought he needed the most was solitude. miscommunication in the delivery room, am i right.

raiden ei's motives were not the same as the sages - you could argue that she really did believe she was doing it for kuni's benefit. i think she did. but what stands is that both these acts feature a theme of abandonment and neglect. they were carried out by people in the aftermath of grief, executed as neglect upon the people they were done to. and these acts catalyzed nahida and wanderer's development into the characters they are now.

they are not the same as the other archons.

venti's arc is focused around mending the wounds of the past, though it could be implied that he is re-assessing what "freedom" means for his nation. zhongli stepped back as yanwang dijun to allow liyue to move forward on its own while he could re-integrate as one of their common folk. ei is brought forward to re-evaluate her decisions as inazuma's absentee god.

good or bad, they all have experience with being a god.

nahida doesn't. she was intentionally kept from fulfilling her duties as archon for hundreds of years. anything she learns now, once free, is the first time she's learning it as kusanali.

wanderer can't. he tried. he took the electro gnosis and tried to transplant it into his own body - but, at the moment as we know it, gods technically can't be artificially created. the closest dottore could get was a mimicry.

so you have this unique circumstance, where nahida and wanderer both have no idea of what being a god really entails. but they don't need to know what being a god is like, do they? they just need to know how to be an archon: how to protect, how to decide, how to execute.

nahida is very forgiving. in my opinion, she's too forgiving (only because i hate the sages and would've called cps on them if i could). she sees the best in humanity. she works to engage with her people. she tries to listen to their hopes and dreams while moving towards a collective vision for the nation.

wanderer is cynical. he's been betrayed three times, in his words, and been taken advantage of far more than thrice. wanderer has seen the worst of humanity, and he continues to carry this critical eye. he's not afraid to do what nahida can't do (go undercover + beat up people) and he's not afraid to confront people when their motives stray towards the worse.

wanderer can demonstrate the things that define the worst of humans, while nahida can show wanderer the things that make humanity worth preserving. wanderer can execute orders with precision and make decisions on the fly (ha), but nahida is here to level his head and point out clues, motives, or implications that perhaps were not considered before.

and, isn't it a fitting conclusion to the sumeru archon quests? two former puppets, both alike in dignity, in sumeru where we lay our scene. together, they can reconcile the pains of their past - and together, they can build a better, kinder future together...the kind that both must have, at their worst, dreamed of living.

       Rosalyne, commonly known as La Signora, was many things.

       She was the cold, calculated Eighth Fatui Harbinger who tended to use lethal force against all but one of her underlings. She was the Harbinger who, prior to joining the Fatui, nearly burned herself out within the scorching flames of her boundless fury. She was confident, cunning, and sadistic in certain ways.

       La Signora was many things, but few other than The Tsaritsa herself and some of the other Harbingers knew she was a big sister, and the only underling she was ever kind to was her younger sibling. She was a big sister and, to anyone's blatant surprise, a wonderful one. She was never cruel or unnecessarily harsh towards them, and extended what little remained of the patience and gentleness in her heart to them exclusively. It was a privilege only they possessed. There was not a single Fatuus—hell, not a single person in all of Teyvat that Signora favored more than her dear baby sibling.

       To the Eighth, they were everything. She wished to burn away Teyvat's ugliness—if not for her own sake, then for the sake of her precious little sibling, because they had suffered just as much as she had. It was her and her job alone to protect them from any more pain. They deserved the world, but Signora would not dare give it to them, for they did not deserve its cruelty. They deserved only the best, and the world was simply not on par with that. The world was unkind, disgusting, and utterly revolting. They deserved better than that.

       Perhaps that was why she spoiled them in the ways she did; if she could not give them the best version of the world, then she could take them on shopping sprees in Fontaine or to expensive restaurants in Liyue that left little to no impact on her savings. If they were to express interest in something, it was guarunteed to be on their bedside table the next morning. Spoiled as they were, they still never failed to express their gratitude to her. It was one of the things she adored about them. How could she have nurtured such a humble, gentle soul, when she was anything but?

       Truly, the Harbinger would do anything to distract them from the pain they had experienced. She knew deep down that there was no easing the agony. She knew that all too well, for even without all of the memories of her past, her bitterness and bias shone blatantly through when Mondstadt and its Archon was involved (and, despite not saying this aloud, they didn't completely blame her, as they had their own reservations about Barbatos).

       If it were for their happiness, Signora would gladly cleanse the world a hundred times over.

       "Will you take me to Inazuma with you, Rosalyne?" they wondered softly, eyes fluttering shut at the sensation of their sister skillfully—albeit absentmindedly—massaging their scalp. "I hear it's a beautiful nation. I'd like to experience it with you, even if it's technically a buisness trip..."

       La Signora had long forgotten most of her past, courtesy of the Cryo Delusion gifted to her by the Tsaritsa herself. It was used to suppress her flames so that she did not burn away into nothing but ash. Even so, they never stopped calling her Rosalyne when they were alone together, for to them, she was still their same big sister from five hundred years ago. To them, it was like nothing had changed; they knew better, of course, for the amount of things that had changed since their days of living peacefully in Mondstadt were unfathomable. Even so, they still truly believed that their big sister was still there underneath the defensive layers of ice and fire. Wholeheartedly, they believed that Rosalyne-Kruzchka Lohefalter was still there.

       She found it... endearing.

       Despite everything, they still saw her as Rosalyne, not La Signora, not the Fair Lady, and certainly not the Crimson Witch of Flames nor Embers. Even if she could not recall her past, she did at least remember who she was.

       She was Rosalyne, their big sister.

       She would always be Rosalyne. Always.

       "...I will," she responded, though not before a long moment of serious contemplation. She agreed to take them to Mondstadt only because the Anemo Archon was notoriously weak (at least, that's what she believed; they knew better than that), and she took them to Liyue since a contract had already been established between Rex Lapis and the Tsaritsa, but the Electro Archon was a different case entirely. Even the ever-confident La Signora acknowledged that. "Inazuma is different than Mondstadt and Liyue. As such, you are to do as I say without question, understood?"

       "Of course. You know I would never do anything that you do not agree with." They peered up at her, lips curling up into a sweet smile. "I trust you."

       Her gaze, steely and cold, softened significantly. She leaned down, pressing a brief kiss to their forehead. "...Good. Now go. Return to your quarters and prepare a bag with whatever you deem necessary. We will leave in the morning."

       Inazuma was breathtaking.

       Tenshukaku, however, was less so.

       "...Do we really have to go in?" they wondered softly, hands smoothing anxiously over their shirt. Their voice betrayed their stance and expression—both being cool and impassive, managing to wordlessly communicate the same confidence Signora always seemed to have.

       Though they were never really like her in that respect, they had to at least pretend to be. Their behaviors would reflect their older sister as their teacher. She had a reputation to uphold. They were always careful not to damage it in the slightest.

       Adrenaline flooded their veins. Dread dug its fingers around their throat, making breathing suddenly seem more challenging. They didn't like this place. No, no, not at all. Tenshukaku, though admirable and elegant, had a terribly suffocating aura surrounding it. Perhaps it was merely the Shogun's elemental energy that made them uneasy, but something was putting them on edge. They truly couldn't be sure if it was their razor-sharp intuition or just the presence of a powerful God.

       It felt inexplicably as if, assuming they and their sister both were to step into that dreadful building, one or both of them might not come back out.

       The woman hummed, moving so that she was in front of them. Her hard gaze softened slightly. She straightened their collar, before delicately plucking off a stray hair off of their shoulder. "Yes. Walk in with your head held high. We are Snezhnayan diplomats. More importantly, you are my sibling. You are like me. You've handled these situations with confidence and grace up until now. I see no reason for you to suddenly change."

       They swallowed back their sudden wave of panic, giving her a firm nod. "Right. My bad."

       "You needn't speak to the Shogun. Only speak if you are spoken to. I will handle everything. If things go according to plan, she shouldn't spare you more than a glance."

       They exhaled through their nose, calming their rapidly pounding heart. "Alright."

       It was in front of Mondstadt's cathedral that they and their elder sister would dance together to the lively songs played by bards—some who were familiar locals, others complete strangers that happened to be wandering Teyvat. A crowd would always gather. Regardless of who one was, from Mondstadt or anywhere else, none could deny that there were few things more endearing and uplifting than seeing those two dance together.

       Rosalyne raised a hand, twirling them around as they laughed delightedly. She pulled them back in, wrapping her arms lovingly around their neck with a contented sigh. They were quick to return the gesture, though instead their arms made their way around her waist. The woman raised one hand and stroked it over their hair. A soft hum rose from their throat.

       "I love you dearly. I'll be away for a while, but I promise, I swear on the Seven that I will never truly abandon you."

       "I know," they replied softly, gazing up at her with eyes full of unadulterated admiration. "I love you too."

       That memory—one among many of them and their sister from five centuries ago—was one they held oh-so dearly. She promised not to leave them. Rosalyne did not take her promises lightly, so how...

       How could it have possibly ended like this?

       They could already feel a deep, gaping hole forming in their chest with the absence of the one person that mattered in their life.

       A strangled sob left their throat. "No, no... oh, Gods..." They tried to grasp at what remained of their elder sister. The fine grains of ash merely slipped between their fingers, but that didn't seem to deter them. "No... Rosalyne, why? Why? You could've lived, you... why didn't you run? You were never supposed to abandon me, Rosalyne." 

       Their eyes burned with tears; whether they were tears of utter distress or anger, no-one could be sure. It seemed more likely that it was a dreadful mix of both, for as the Cryo Vision secured on their hip began to shimmer, the temperature in the room dropped immeasurably. With the transition from terror and despair to a blinding rage came the unforgiving, biting chill of Snezhnayan winters. A thin layer of frost descended upon all surfaces in the room.

       Signora may have nearly drowned in the flames of her anger, but unlike her, they would freeze in the impenetrable ice of their's. Their rage ran so hot that it was cold.

       Perhaps these behaviors simply ran in their family, for both they and Signora shared a tendency to be extremely passionate about all that they did. The issue was that that passion, when perpetuated by painful situations, became all-consuming and inevitably fatal if they were to fail to reign in their fury. 

       Signora's passion had once fueled her flames. Their passion now fueled their ice.

       The traveller and Paimon both shuddered, recoiling from the sudden temperature change.

       "You..." they murmured, eyes snapping up towards the Shogun. If looks could kill, she would have dropped dead the second their frigid gaze landed on her. Unfortunately, striking down a deity took quite a lot more than a simple glare. "How dare you? Who do you think you are to take her away from me like that? You— you..."

       The God of Eternity stood unfazed, unbothered by their emotional outburst. Their eyes flickered briefly to her blade. If they didnt know better, they'd raise their Anemo Delusion to her. They'd risk losing their mind or even dying due to the toll Delusions took on one's body. They'd risk it all just to avenge their fallen sister if they didn't know better.

       However, they did know better.

       Rosalyne was adamant on ensuring that they were wise and wouldn't put themselves in a situation that they couldn't emerge safely from. She did exactly what she warned them about. She wouldn't want them to follow her example, no. Rosalyne would want nothing more than to see them learn from her mistakes.

       A stray flame moth landed on their shoulder, only strengthening their frozen resolve.

       They had a feeling that the little being, radiating a soothing warmth that managed to melt away their ice and warm them both inside and out, would not part from their side anytime soon.

       "Tch," they scoffed, rising to their feet with clenched fists. As if they hadn't broken down crying a few seconds ago, their gaze hardened, and their stance was as confident and firm as ever. They brushed the stray frost off of the shoulder that the moth had not settled on. "Her Majesty truly is the only Archon with the purest of goals. You disgust me," they spat, turning away with an elegant flick of their coat. "Goodbye, Baal. I no longer have any buisness here."

       As they departed, their steps left behind small patches of ice.

       Before they exited, they mused threateningly, "The Tsaritsa will hear of this... incident. Your blatant disregard for the safety Snezhnayan diplomats will not go unpunished, Inazuman laws be damned."

       Upon being summoned to the Cryo Archon's throne room in the palace, their immediate assumption was that they would be punished. Perhaps they had spoken out of line to the Shogun. Did they displease their God? Archons, they hoped not. A pissed off Cryo user was one thing, but enraging the Cryo Archon herself? That was nothing short of a death sentence, surely. 

       Despite their natural fear for the deity, they barely seemed fazed as they treaded towards her throne room. All they could focus on was the heavy emptiness lingering in their chest. The flame moth had still failed to part from them. It seemed to bat its wings against their chilled skin in an attempt to soothe them. Its efforts were to no avail.

       'Why did you leave me here, Rosalyne?'

       They kept their gaze directed downwards as they entered the infamous throne room, lower-ranked Fatui shutting the doors behind them. Despite the unmistakable below-freezing temperatures of the room, sweat rolled down the side of their forehead at the echo of the doors closing. The floor seemed to sway underneath their unsteady feet. They weren't sure if they'd even have the strength to stand for much longer.

       Their mind was in utter shambles.

       Now, they were truly trapped in here—not that they would have dared to try and flee, but something about being officially trapped in the same room as the Tsaritsa herself ignited a primal terror buried in the depths of their mind. Rarely did they even pass by this room; they were not a Harbinger and so they did not report directly to their Goddess. They'd only ever met her once before, and that was... perhaps four or five centuries ago.

       They kneeled a few feet in front of her throne, clearing their dry throat. They willed their body to cease its shaking. "Good evening, Your Majesty."

       "Such a formal one you are. Rosalyne taught you well," she lilted softly. "You have earned my praise, [Name]."

       Their breath hitched slightly.

       "You have shown great discipline and elegance despite recent events. Your judgement was not clouded by confidence or rage. This is something your elder sister did not succeed at—may she rest in peace. I will ensure that the entire nation sufficiently mourns her loss. No sacrifice will have been in vain when we win the divine rebellion."

       They rapidly blinked in an attempt to rid their eyes of the tears threatening to spill over. Their voice cracked slightly as they murmured barely above the volume of a whisper, "Of course. I will never forget that. Your goal is of such purity, Your Highness... I will do anything to help you succeed."

       The woman hummed thoughtfully. "Anything, you say?"

       "Anything, especially in light of recent events. I have nothing but my life left to lose. I would gladly give it up in your honor, should that be your will." A stray tear rolled down their cheek. "I have nothing left to lose."

       "In that case," she mused, lacing her fingers together and resting her chin on the bridge they created, "inherit La Signora's position. Become the Eighth of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers."

       Wide-eyed, they snapped their gaze up towards her, only to frantically look back down at the floor. Perhaps they wouldn't be punished for looking at her directly, but the shooting chills her gaze sent tingling across their skin was enough for them to not want to regardless. "Y... your highness, surely I am not strong enough to—"

       "Nonesense. I have seen you best Tartaglia effortlessly—you barely even broke a sweat, while he expended his strength in full. As such, I have no doubt that you are fit to fill the vacant Eighth position."

       Silence.

       "In..." Their voice came out embarrassingly meek and timid on their first attempt, so they took a breath and tried again. "In that case, if you truly feel that way about me, I graciously accept your kind offer."

       Her lips twitched upwards, forming the ghost of a barely noticable smile. "Wonderful. Welcome to our ranks, Scappino."
