Hello thank you so much for the transcriptions of the lullabies, I knew I could count on you to have them! My friend and I have actually been having a debate for a while about the Giant's Lover lyrics, I thought it was "sure of foot, hard-won" but she thinks it's just "sure-foot, hard-won" but with a little stylistic vocal hiccup in it. I see you've transcribed it as "sure-foot" too but I was wondering if you wanted to comment lol. We refer to you "the naddpod music person" btw (as a compliment)

i can definitely hear the ‘of’ sound, but i think it’s just a transition between the end of sure and the start of foot! the thing that gives weight to/makes me more sure it’s sure-foot hard-won is the cadence of that whole line, since it’s all in twos (shout out)— small folk / big fun / sure foot / hard won / gi ant / lov er / like no / oth er. so it’s less likely she’d add a third beat into one of the pairs, if that makes sense. a thing i focus on when identifying lyrics in parts that are hard to do so is the context. uuuuusually the lyric will fit into the sentence/structure of the surrounding area, so you can figure out what makes sense from there, whether structurally or just like.. grammatically

i'm sorry, but to me, brainia on nia's end reads so much like comphet it's not even funny. nia never actually liked brainy for who he is, or even saw the real him. she had an idea of the perfect boyfriend in her head and assigned brainy that personality - "nerdy boy who thinks too much."

one of the few compliments she gives him is so far off who he is - "brainy, you are adorable. but sometimes you are the dumbest smartest person i know." he visibly doesn't appreciate that. it gives you an idea of who she wants him to be. but querl is not that. he's a twelfth-level intellect with social anxiety, and just anxiety in general. and as we find out in 5x10, it was hard for him to be openly himself. once the inhibitors are off, we meet the real querl - a confident, smart, mean bitch. i think one of the reasons nia "fell" for him is because he was wearing a mask to appease others the whole time so it was easiter for her to assign him a personality. it's easiter to be "in love" with someone who won't show you their flaws, and instead act the way you'd want them to.

the few times brainy tried to be himself, nia didn't make it easy for him to do so. when they first start dating, nia tells him he can be himself with her. but when brainy actually does that, nia gets upset. like, really upset. she tells him he's too much. because now he's breaking the script, and suddenly they're having real relationship problems. suddenly nia realizes they're actually in a relationship - not just the version in her head.

anything brainy did that didn’t match her idea of the perfect boyfriend freaked her out. why? because it made the relationship feel real. this is why she never compromises - because that would mean she’s actually part of it, too. this is why she lets brainy do all the work, all the accommodating, all the changing. nia liked the idea of a relationship and the fantasy of the perfect boyfriend, but she never wanted a real relationship with a guy. because the second it got real, she freaked out.

which, to me, reads like comphet.

remember when i spent like a year terrified that when i drove to work or especially anywhere less familiar i wasn’t seeing the stoplight colors correctly and that i would run a red light because i couldn’t tell green from red so i would stare at the stoplights repeating “green green green” when i went through them so i would know and remember the light was green and I wouldn’t freak out about trying to remember but it backfired because i did this so much that there were a few times where I literally couldn’t tell what color the stoplight was

Maybe it’s just me being a huge ceroba fan who has just become so accustomed to ppl shitting on her but. Ehhhhhh. Out of all the jokes you could make abt her it’s the most low hanging fruit 2 me. Like even LHUGUENY is trying harder than some of these bitches, at least there’s a visual gag here. At least “ceroba going too far” is brought up without acting like chujin isn’t just as at fault as she is.

I’m just really fond of Will’s clueless girlfriend Megan. The thing is that everyone is skeptical about their relationship (even by two-freshman-dating-each-other standards) and he’s so annoyed about it because damn it he’s just trying to be normal! Joyce puts a good face on it but she is legit annoyed by this girl because she’ll make tactless comments about how their house is small. Jonathan thinks she’s worryingly out-to-lunch and is nice about it but in a way that strikes Will as condescending. Mike can’t stand her (in much the same way that Will can’t stand Eddie). Even sweet Bob is inwardly like huh they don’t have much in common. His Yearbook-girl friends think that he’s too good for her but they also kind of believe the (correct) rumors that he’s gay so they get it. Lucas is more polite than Mike but will absolutely talk shit about her with Mike in private. Only Dustin is uncritical.
