T-29 days
i'm now updating my calendar for every event i have this month. so far, it's:
8/8: pizza with S&I
8/10: beacon hike with matt
8/11: NJ hike/hangout with T&S
8/16: dinner at LG's home for the first time (will start giving away my plants)
8/18: visit A and her baby with S at her apartment/pool day
8/21: carbone lunch with matt
8/22: rubirosa and comedy cellar with matt
8/26: switzerland
9/6: last dinner with T
9/7: last brunch with S&I
i have resistance to some events, and the feeling is definitely bittersweet. i find myself not truly enjoying the hangouts because it is laced with some sadness. my depresso would rather not see anyone until it comes time to move. but, it is nice that my last month will be filled with special moments.
i chatted with K about this, who has had a few losses/breakups in the past few years. she mentioned sobbing for an hour because she had just found a great dance partner but in the coming months, he will likely be deployed/away for months at times while he focuses on his military career. it's like that quote "'tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."
ceramics: i've made entirely all bowls and one mug this semester. my mug didn't turn out that great. aesthetically, it was okay, but i tried drinking hot peppermint tea from it and it tasted funny. so i'm most likely not going to use it for drinking purposes. for my last few pieces, i'm torn between keeping them for myself or giving them away as gifts. the last thing i put in the fire was a blue bowl and a pink bowl - let's see how those turn out. class ends in two weeks already.
exercise/health: i'm really ramping up on the exercise recently. walked/hiked about 20 miles this past weekend, did a 7 mile bike ride, yoga sessions, etc. ran ~2 miles a few times! for a minute when i was super full, i stepped on the scale and reached my goal weight of 120lbs. but now i'm back down to 116-117. glad that i haven't had any hemorrhoids/blood in my stool since may.
last work week: it's matt's last work week at NYU! he was off for 10 days so i'm glad he's going back to work haha. it's his last night shift week here, and i'll have the whole apartment and bed to myself to chill this week. excited to drink tea and read.
odd bucket list items: yesterday, we had mcdonald's for the first time in NYC. i usually only get mcd's when i'm in LA. before we leave, i also want to give the panhandler who is always outside of our building "a dollar or two".
moving logistics: the moving company has been set. actual apartment is still up in the air. we're not ruling out the luxury buildings anymore. i've been checking daily for the same community that we're in now. it's more convenient to lock in for future move-in dates, and i trust that the building/maintenance will be good. slowly, the late september move-in date listings are coming out. i notice that rentals are claimed pretty quickly, so the market is quite competitive. i've been also browsing zillow rentals and have email updates for new listings, but those are not as frequent.
duolingo: i completed the chinese sessions, and have been learning japanese for the last few weeks. i was practicing music for a bit; may go back to it later. my friend K's competitive nature has been rubbing off on me. i've been trying harder at the game instead of doing the bare minimum. she's all about getting the XP and winning in the game (maintaining a top 3 status). i'm now at 237 day streak!

Happy New Year
Bakugo x F! Pregnant Reader Fluff
Summary:
You and Bakugo have been keeping a secret, and plan to reveal it at your New Year’s Party.
A/N: Here’s some sweet fluff to end the year. I have a soft spot for Dad!Bakugo and had to write something adorable for him. I hope you enjoy it and your new year is full of happiness and love! Also, I had to look up so much stuff about pregnancy. I hope no one finds my search history :P
TW: Pregnancy. mild cursing. Otherwise, super mega fluffy!
“Why do they have to come over?!” Bakugo grumbled for the thirtieth time.
You looked up from the pan you were currently scrubbing.
“Katsuki...they’re our friends! Plus, we are going to announce the big news.” You looked down at your small baby bump.
You and Bakugo had found out you were going to be parents nearly 5 months ago and you both were extremely excited. You had waited to tell everyone until it was deemed safe by your doctor and with the new year approaching, you figured it would be easy to gather everyone you loved to spill the news.
Of course, Bakugo was going to make it difficult though.
You knew he was just as excited as you about the addition to your little family, but whereas you were open about discussing all your fears, thoughts, and anxieties, Bakugo was a little more closed off and channeled the extra stress into other things.
You went back to washing the dishes and felt your husband’s biceps wrap around your body, his hands softly resting on your belly. He nuzzled into your neck.
“We could just send a text and stay in together. Watch the fireworks from the balcony, relax. Plus, are you sure you want those loud idiots stressing you and the baby out?” He murmured into your ear.
You giggled and swatted him with the dish rag.
“I literally live with a walking explosion and you’re worried our friends are too loud? I mean sure, maybe Present Mic, but I doubt he doesn’t already have plans.” You trailed off, before he spun you around and lifted you up, bridal style.
“That’s enough, off to bed with you mama. You’re too snappy tonight and clearly not thinking straight.” He chuckled as you squealed into his chest.
“‘Tsuki, you’re so annoying!” You laughed as he gently tossed you into bed.
He crawled on top of you, pressing your body into the soft mattress and mountains of pillows you insisted on sleeping with.
“I may be annoying, but I’m also the father of this little brat inside you.” He muttered, vermillion eyes shining. You smiled up at him.
He had grown up a lot since your UA days. While he still had his hot-headed moments, he was playful and more considerate of your feelings and you knew he was going to be an amazing father. He even changed his screensaver on his phone to your sonogram, though he would never admit it.
“We’re gonna have fun, babe. It’s gonna be a good night with all our friends and we can finally be open about the baby. Plus, it’d be nice for our kid to meet all their aunts and uncles.” You grinned, thinking of how your friends would react to this.
Katsuki groaned, rolling over. “Kiri is gonna fucking cry, I know it.”
You laughed and curled up next Bakugo.
“Yeah...probably.”
-------
New Year’s Eve was finally here. You had been busy preparing everything for the party tonight and your heart fluttered at the idea of sharing your big news with everyone. Bakugo had to finish up some last minute stuff at the agency so he was going to be home right before the party began. You were pulling another tray of baked sweets out of the oven when your phone chirped.
You glanced over to see another message from your group chat with the girls.
Mina: Can’t wait to see you Y/N, I MISS YOU
Momo: Are you sure you don’t need us to bring anything? We don’t want to be bad guests.
Ochaco: We can also help set up if you need us to!
Y/N: I’m totally fine. Katsuki arranged for food to be delivered and Sero and Kirishima are picking up all the drinks for tonight. Just bring yourselves!
Y/N: Also yes, before you ask, I am making cookies.
Mina: HECK YES! :)
They started arranging transportation plans and you clicked your phone off, to focus on transferring the cookies onto a cooling tray. Once that was settled, you jogged upstairs to get dressed. Luckily, you weren’t really showing yet so your friends wouldn’t immediately know when you greeted them, but you still wanted to wear something loose and flowy.
You settled on a deep red dress that cinched right under your chest and opened in an A-line skirt. You rifled through your jewelry box until you found the necklace Katsuki had given you for your birthday. It was a large black teardrop shaped diamond on a simple thin silver chain. You reached behind your back to clasp the necklace and felt a warm hand enclose yours.
“I didn’t even hear you come in.” You smiled looking at your husband in the mirror. He finished attaching your necklace and met your eyes.
“I just got here. The food’s here too, so everything’s done. I just need to get dressed.” He said, twirling you around so you were facing him. He rubbed your tiny bump. “How’s the brat been today?”
“Surprisingly chill. Though the baby did require a couple pints of ice cream for breakfast.” You laughed.
“Uh-huh...blame it on the baby.” He chuckled and gave you a kiss on your forehead. You could smell the scent of his body wash, a spicy cinnamon musk combined with his natural caramel scent. He must have showered at the agency and you buried your face in his chest, enveloping yourself in him.
“Stop sniffing me like a dog, crazy woman.” He flicked you on the head and you pouted. He crouched down so he could kiss your belly.
“I’m sorry your mama is nuts.” He laughed before pressing his lips to your stomach.
You smiled. Though you were excited to tell your friends about the news, you kind of loved having this little secret just between you two. These moments, with just you, Bakugo, and the baby, were magical and felt so...pure. Untainted from anything.
-----
“We’re HERE!” Mina’s voice echoed through your entryway. She was dressed in a gold sparkly jumpsuit and her aura just screamed “Happy New Year”. She was followed by Momo, dressed in a sparkly green dress and Tsu, who wore yellow sundress. Soon the door opened again and Ochaco was ushered in by Deku. You grinned at her blushing face. Her and Deku had finally admitted their feelings for each other after years of pining and they were adorable together. She had on a cute pink knee-length dress that matched Deku’s tie, which contrasted nicely against the dark teal suit he wore.
The rest of your friends piled in slowly afterwards, with Sero and Kirishima carrying cases of booze. You had made sure to stock your house with plenty of non-alcoholic drinks as well but you knew the rest of your friends planned to party hard, since it was rare to all get together.
Once everyone made it in, and Iida stopped arm chopping at Denki for some unknown broken social rule, Kirishima raised his beer.
“Can we just toast to Y/N and Bakubro, for hosting this party? It feels like a million years since I’ve seen you guys.”
You giggled and looked at your husband. He rolled his eyes and looked at you nodding. You turned back to the group.
“Actually, we invited you here because of something else…” You looked down at your belly, and heard gasps.
“ARE YOU…?”
“You’re…?”
“Wait what…?”
Bakugo looked exasperated with the suspense.
“We’re having a baby, idiots.”
A loud cheer erupted from your friends and immediately you were swarmed by the girls, asking a million questions. The guys were clapping Bakugo on the back and as expected Kirishima was already tearing up.
“So manly bro. You’re gonna be the manliest dad!” He sobbed while squeezing Bakugo in a tight hug. Sero and Denki snickered watching this.
“Get off of me idiot. I’m not the pregnant one.” Bakugo growled trying to pry the redhead off him. Kirishima turned to you and started hugging you tightly.
“I’m so proud of you guys!”
“You’re proud of them for —”
A ribbon of tape wrapped itself around Kaminari’s mouth before he could finish his sentence. You threw a grateful look toward Sero, who grinned over his beer.
The rest of the night turned into an impromptu baby shower, with everyone fawning over you two. You were asked a zillion questions, everyone offered to babysit, and even Todoroki offered his quirk if you ever needed pain relief (which Bakugo immediately shot down).
“I can take care of my own wife, IcyHot Bastard.” He grunted through his teeth. You smacked Bakugo upside the head before apologizing to Todoroki. You placed your hand back to rest on your belly and felt a small flutter.
“Holy shit...babe!” You’re mouth dropped. Immediately, the room went quiet and Bakugo rushed to your side.
“What, what’s wrong??!” He placed his hand on your stomach and his eyes widened.
“The baby...the baby’s kicking.” You smiled, eyes pricking with tears. The two of you looked at each other and you could see tears threatening to spill from your husband’s eyes. He grabbed your face in his hands and kissed you deeply, seeming to forget where he was.
“I love you, I love you both so goddamn much” He whispered to you, before kissing you again.
“Bro, you’re gonna make her have twins!” Kaminari yelled out, before being smacked in the head by both Mina and Kirishima. You giggled and pulled your husband close to you, before he blasted his friend out of the house.
“Guys, it’s almost midnight!” Momo said looking at her watch. “Ten…”
“Nine…”
“Eight…”
You looked around at all your cheering friends.
“Seven…”
“Six…”
You looked at your husband, who gave you a soft smile back.
“Five…”
“Four…”
You looked down at your baby bump.
“Three...two...one.”
“Happy New Year!”

@crimsonblackrose @underture & @macchiatosdumptruck tagged me in a really nice thing to chat about good things going on!
I'm tagging @morethanonepage @an-sceal @deputychairman @freetobegrace @larussosmomjeans and @ladyifrit
I'm experimenting with getting out of the house at the same time every day. It's crazy how much time that has added to my day especially on evening/night days. While I haven't necessarily made that goal every day yet I also haven't been late yet & have been able to get errands done before the last possible minute so they're actually chill and fun
With the extra time, I've gotten really into making myself special fussy morning drinks. It's funny realizing how much I absorbed working at the coffee shop and putting it into practice for myself. First I found the best way to make milk foam in the French Press and even got it down to being able to pour myself little hearts, then I got some espresso blend and learned how to actually use the press for making the coffee too. While I'm coveting a kettle next, it's nice waiting and watching the water or milk heat up to but not quite at a boil on the stove. Reminds me of the scene in Shape of Water I always admired of her having her hard boiled eggs cooking at the same time every day.
I'm in a curious and open mood right now & have been exploring career changes. I worked with a coach I had actually contacted a few years ago and funnily enough a lot of the things I've done did come up as really strong matches for my values and interests and workplace preferences. I know that's not really accurate or super scientific but it's nice to think that there has been some kind of - logic to my life I guess lol. Also it did remind me of how much I have done and the parts I enjoyed too.
My sister is in town and I roped her into my 2022 Tea Fixation, she actually joined me on it and helped me branch out. We had a delicious Pu-erh, a Taiwanese black tea, a cherry blossom tea (overrated imo, more aromatic than flavorful), and some more hojicha which is cheating bc I already knew I liked it. Am I just really into these bc of the pleasure of seeing clear hot water. Am I just dehydrated??? Maybe so. Anyway I've tried some really great ones at new places with her
@morethanonepage 's birthday gift just came in and I'm so touched at having such a thoughtful and talented friend & grateful for being able to visit and idk not that you wouldn't have ever walked by there without me, but to have something beautiful created out of knowing someone and being able to have that with me on my wall knowing for myself it's a memento? gosh man.
Had a difficult conversation that went better than expected and allowed me to see the ways in which we have all grown to at least be able to communicate
I am still so welcomed by the theater crew and I don't get it but I love how at home I feel with them and how easy it is to talk to them despite how much time has passed and how little we intersect. The manager mentioned his roommate would love to hang out again too and says since he's got the keys now we should schedule a day to come screen something together for ourselves after hours which does sound so fun. I somehow feel really known and seen by them and feel like they and my brother are the only people I've been really able to communicate what I intended to about the trip. And it's always so fascinating to see what they've been up to also, I'm so proud and happy for them, I love the lives they live and the dedication and confidence with which they live them. Somehow also despite again a vast majority of interactions just being work I do think we all have seen each other at some of our best and worst. Maybe it is that they were my first lasting adult friendships idk but I appreciate it a lot.
I just think and hope I'm hopefully making impactful positive changes and I'm really thankful for finally connecting enough to have really wonderful people I feel comfortable asking for perspectives and I'm proud of myself for reaching out more effectively rather than the usual ineffective retreat and isolate until you've Fixed It which just distances you from everyone.
In my research for exercise classes I've found so many fun things to do around the city. I'm going to a 6am dance party at a museum, I got tickets to Pitchfork, I found out one of my favorite artists from high school is playing at one of my favorite venues on my Tuesday off. Love learning and listening to what I love and being a tourist at home.
I'm somehow the only person who can get my niece and nephew to sleep when they're fussy which feels amazing to do when my siblings are exhausted and desperate. My sleepy energy is contagious I guess lol. Also realized I remember lullabies I had no idea I knew the words too which is wild.
I got some kerrygold and I have my signature cookie ingredients and I'm off this weekend so..... :3

32 with Roman
prompts are open
an anon requested some roman angst a lil while back, and while this isn’t super angsty it kinda is? lol
also i changed the wording a bit i hope thats ok
Of course he was here, you really shouldn’t have been surprised.
Roman had a tendency to worm his way back into your life, physically or mentally, one way or another. It’s like he knew when you were finally moving on, when you had finally pushed him from your consciousness, and decided that that was unacceptable.
You let out a heavy sigh as you watched him enter the house party, a perky blonde slung comfortably under his arm. The mummers had started then, people whispering and peeking over at him and his date. Just because this party was outside Hemlock Grove city limits didn’t mean that Roman’s name didn’t have any lore or pull to it. You were sure everyone in the state, hell maybe the country, would stop what they were doing to follow him through a room. He had an incredibly commanding presence, something that you once loved, but now just resented.
“Is that Roman Godfrey?” the guy you had been chatting up asked.
He was good looking, this random man. Charming, always willing to refill your cup or dance when a song you liked came on. He laughed at your jokes and kept his eyes from wandering to any of the other girls that were in attendance, which was silly, but something you appreciated. You’d only met him a couple of hours ago, so any singular devotion he had to you was quite flattering. You were seriously considering taking his hand and asking him to join you in a room upstairs until Roman showed up and decided to steal his attention from you. This guy, this stupid guy who was the only guy in the party who you’d been attracted to even in the slightest, of course he would have a hard on for Roman and his family name.
“Who?” you asked with resentment, drinking more of the swilly beer in your cup.
“Who? Roman Godfrey? His family owns half the state! He’s like, a billionaire. How in the hell do you not know who he is?” he talks like an animated puppy about Roman, you can see as his eyes follow the taller man everywhere he goes in the room.
You refused to look at Roman yourself, you just stared up at your date (if you could even call him that). You focused on the bumping music as he continued to gush about Godfrey Industries and Roman’s family money. God, you bet this guy talked about Elon Musk like this too… and suddenly you felt so repulsed by him that your skin crawled at the thought of him touching you.
“You know what?” you cut him off from his rant, “I’m going to go out for a cigarette.”
“Oh, OK. Want me to come?” He asked.
“No, not particularly.” And you were sure he was scowling after you and calling you a bitch, but you didn’t care. You needed to get away from him, his Roman complex, and all other Roman related things.
You pushed your way through the throngs of people in the house to the back sliding door, where you exited to the pleasant gust of chilled air. It was a welcomed contrast on your skin after simmering inside with all it’s muggy body heat.
The house that was throwing the party was really nice, nicer than any house you’d be able to afford. There was a large inground pool, complete with water features and a conjoined hot tub; an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven and fully stocked fridge; and some of the most beautiful landscaping you’d ever seen. It made you wonder who actually lived here. One of your coworkers had invited you along, and you had only shown up to have something to do on a Friday night. You saw her for around five minutes when you arrived, then you’d both disappeared into the sea of people.
You went over to the kitchen and took a seat on one of the built in benches. It was carved into the brick next to the pizza oven, and even though the oven was off, you could still feel some heat emanating from it. You pulled your knees to your chest and settled against the brick, temple to the oven as you enjoyed the silence the night had to offer. You took out your phone from your jeans and began to app surf, switching between social medias to keep your mind busy.
“Now, what’s a pretty little thing like you doing out here, all by her lonesome?” you could see the smarmy grin on his face without even looking up.
A part of you had futilely hoped that escaping outside would have thrown Roman off your scent. You’d up and completely left parties when he had arrived in the past, so you hoped he would have assumed that was the case tonight. But then again if he had, he wouldn’t be Roman. Because he seemed to have a tracking device on you, always aware of your whereabouts. It used to be helpful, but now it just pissed you off.
“You’re such a little stalker, you know that right?” you sneer, refusing to look up from your phone.
“Pretty sure you’re the stalker, (Y/L/N). Somehow wherever I go,” He trails off as he came to sit next to you, far too close for comfort, “There you are.”
“Whatever, Roman.” you reply, eyes still glued to your phone as you huddled closer to the oven.
“What? No snarky retort? No adamant denial? Man, someone’s gone soft,” he chuckles.
“Or maybe I’m just sick of this little game you’ve roped me into,” you bit back, and you could see in your periphery that his smile grew.
“You love it.”
“No, you love it. It’s why you never fucking leave me alone.”
He scoffs, but doesn’t say anything else. There is a long beat of silence where the two of you just listen to each other's breaths, of the sound of the others clothing scraping against the brick and the sound of your deft fingers against your screen.
It reminded you of when you were together, of when you had been the perky girl under his arm and the one enthralled by his presence. It reminded you of the late nights he’d shatter your body with pleasure and put you back together again. It reminded you of the times that he'd lay on your chest and murmur secrets and confessions with tears streaking his alabaster cheeks. It reminded you of the ever present smile he brought out in you.
It reminded you of Roman’s refusal to admit any true feelings for you. It reminded you of tense silence after fights. It reminded you of how he broke your heart.
“That guy you were talking to? Tried to shake my hand,” Roman chuckles, “Fucking freak.”
“Yeah, that’s why I ditched him. He probably liked you more than you like you.”
Roman snorts, “He was practically humping my leg.”
“Yeah, well he was practically humping mine before you showed up. So thanks for that.” you said bitterly, finally pocketing your phone and looking out over the groomed backyard.
“He wouldn’t have known what to do with a woman like you.”
“I would have liked to figure that out on my own upstairs, thank you very much.” you cross your arms over your folded knees.
“C’mon, that guy? I could smell his drug store cologne from a mile away, and that fucking geled hair? You chose that guy?” you could easily detect the envy in his voice.
“C’mon, that girl? With fake tits up to her chin and boxed dyed roots?” you shot back fast, and then immediately cursed yourself.
Because you had just played into his game, the one you had been trying for the past few months to eject yourself from.
“She’s hot, isn’t she?” he drawls, leaning back against the bench.
“If you’re into that 80’s fake Sports Illustrated look.”
“She fucks like she’s straight out of Hustler.”
“Thanks for oversharing, Roman. Though that information feels a little more suited for Peter than me.” you said sarcastically, hoping with every passing second that he would get the hint and leave you alone.
But he never did. Not tonight, not last time and you were sure he never would.
“You used to love when I overshared. You said it made you feel closer to me,” he nudged you with his shoulder and you felt sick.
Because yes, you had said that. You had loved when he told you everything. When he didn’t hold back on his thoughts and feelings, and told you things that were sometimes so ugly he’d retch.
“You’re such a dick,” you swore, and finally stood to escape him.
“Oh, don’t be like that! Sit back down.” Roman reached out to take a hold of your wrist, but you flinched away at his touch.
“Leave me alone.”
“Sit back down and maybe I’ll think about it,” he laughs while trying to grab you again.
“How long are you going to do this to me, Roman? How much longer are you going to torment me!” you snap.
You look down at him for the first time all night. You had been avoiding direct eye contact since he followed you outside, afraid of what those sinful green eyes could get you to do. You’d backslid with Roman one to many times because of those fucking eyes.
“Torment you? That seems a bit rash,” he scoffs.
“I don’t think it is, I actually think it lets you off too easy.”
“Yeah?” he replies, fully condescending and pompous.
“Yeah,” you clench your jaw, “because it’s like you’re haunting me, it's like you’re this looming force that will never let me move on. And for the life of me Roman, I can’t fucking figure out why. Is it just to torture me for leaving? Are you that much of a spoiled brat? That once the toy you didn’t want gets thrown out you through a tantrum until it’s back?”
“Fuck you.”
“No, fuck you! I’m so sick of this, Roman. I’m sick of being at a party or a restaurant or a coffee shop and then having you appear out of thin air to remind me of how much it all just hurts. Do you even care? Do you even care that everytime I see you it takes off a year of my life from pure grief?”
Because it did. Everytime you spotted him in line behind you, at a table across the room or drinking at a bar you were sat at, you felt awful. You felt so disgusting and used and dirty, because you let Roman take and take from you and when you asked for something in return he refused to give.
“Am I not allowed to see a friend all of a sudden?” he asks, his tone becoming defensive and worried.
“We’re not friends. We aren’t. I loved you and you spat in my face. I could never be friends with you again, Roman.”
Roman purses his lips and looks up at you under his brow before pushing up from the bench to stand, “You don’t love me anymore?”
“It shouldn’t matter.”
“It does. It does to me.” he steps closer to you with every word and you finally feel the effects of the alcohol you’d had earlier.
“Well it doesn’t to me, and it shouldn’t to you either. It didn’t then.”
It didn’t matter to him when he screamed and laughed in your face after your confession.
Roman doesn’t respond, even though you can tell he wants to. He towers above you now, but you don’t cower under his height.
You watch Roman chew on the inside of his cheek for a few moments before you know the conversation is over.
“I’m gonna go.”
You turned back toward the house and started your trek across the grass.
“Wait!” Roman suddenly called behind you.
You didn’t want to turn, and maybe if you were stronger you would have kept walking. But you did and you weren’t.
“What?” you ask with a frustrated sigh.
“I do, y’know,” he says, his posture hunched and uncomfortable, “I mean, as much as I can feel that way about anyone.”
“Love me?” you shot back, saying the words he was too cowardly too.
Roman looks around like he’s embarrassed, like he’s looking for any witnesses that might find out he has a heart. Then he nods gently.
“As much as a person like me can. I don’t even know if I’m capable of... that’ing. To anyone.”
You knew this is an incredibly vulnerable moment for Roman. You knew from experience that this was as close as he had ever been to uttering those sacreded three words, as close as he had ever felt to feeling them. You knew that this should give you some solace, some closure in your ongoing battle of emotions with the tall boy. You should feel better. But you don’t.
Because it didn’t change the past, and only gave you worthless hope for some kind of future with the only man you’d ever loved.
“Ok.” was all you said in reply.
And Roman just nods again, though it’s clear that wasn’t the response he was looking for. You almost expected him to say something else, but he doesn’t. He just takes out a cigarette and lights it.
“I, uh, I’m still going to leave,” you say, rubbing your biceps awkwardly under Roman’s intense gaze, “I only really came here to get laid and that fell through, so…”
“Well, I could fix that, y’know?” Roman smirks before taking a drag, and suddenly any semblance of a moment being had was.
“I’ll pass,” you say and bid him a silent goodbye.
You walk across the grass, short and such a vibrant green, even in the winter. You wonder if Roman liked the landscaping and the pool and the kitchen like you did. You wondered if things were different, if you two would live in a house like this. You tried not to think too much about it, though.
When you were almost to the house, you heard Roman call out for you again.
You simply looked over your shoulder to see him leaning against a brick pillar, cigarette between his plush pink lips.
“I’ll see you soon.”
feedback is appreciated!! (:

Melted Hearts

Jason Todd(Titans) x f!reader with ice powers
Requested by @im-hqlover
Hii! I've been thinking a lot and came to a conclusion for my request. I wish you could do a headcanon or imagine (which one do you think is best) about a Jason Todd (could be from the Titans) x fem reader (could you do with the personality of my old requests, please?) she is a training superhero (like robin with batman) where she would have ice/snow powers (who will she be apprentice I will leave your choice :3). The situation would be: How did they meet? First thoughts? Friendship? Dating? oh, and I forgot to say that she is two years younger than him and that she is kind of short. I hope you do not mind... btw, i can't wait
A/N: IT IS FINALLY HERE!!! I made the reader the apprentice of Wonder Woman. Reader lives with Diana so she can train her. Diana is reader's 'aunt' in civil. Also this doesn’t realy fit into any timline so it’s kind of an au. This is supe long and probably full of typos but it’s 3 am an I just really wanted to post it. There is fluff in it and a bit of angst too. Anyway I really hope you will enjoy it and thank you for being patient with me for my super slow writing.
Jason shifted uncomfortably in his well tailored suit. He stood with his back against the wall. He looked around with slight disgust and annoyence. He watched as Gothams richest people chatted with expensive drinks in their hands. This is not how he imagined his friday evening yet here he was. Bruce didn’t even wanted to hear about Jason staying in his room in order to avoid this event. Even if Jason promised not to blast his musicals too loud.
He sighed pulling his fingers through his hair. Bruce didn’t say anything about being sober so... Jason left his ‘hiding spot’, a relatively hidden corner to find some booze. He tried to walk normaly, not wanting to attach any eyes on himself. Just when he spotted the temporary bar at the end of the room he felt somthing, or rather someone bump into his chest. He looked down to see the a short girl with (e/c) eyes and (fav/c) dress. She immediatly started rammbeing .
“Oh...I’m so sorry...I..I didn’t mean to!”
“It’s quite alright dear” he noticed you looking over his shoulders again and again “You lookin for someone?”
You finally looked up to properly take in the person whom you just ran into.A light pink blush appeared on your cheeks looking at the handsome boy in front of you.
“I..Yeah, I actually am looking for my aunt.”
“Well let me help you. where did you last saw her?” he offered you a kind smile while straightening his shirt. You pointed to the other side of the space, at the pretty looking flowers.
“Around those plants. I went to smell them but when I turned back around she wasn’t there.”You explained and Jason nodded, hummig to himself.
“Hmm. I see. We should check the dancefloor”
The dancefloor was full of extravagantly dressded people and Jason wouldn’t necessarily go there but with this beautiful girl next to him... You shook your head unsure.
“I don’t know...My aunt is not much of a dancer.” biting your lips you tried to think where Diana coud have gone.Jason scratched the back of his head before akwadly offered his hand to you.
“But we could still dance.I mean only if you want to...”
As the blush creeped it’s way back on your face you stood there hesitantly. You don’t even know this guy....but he seemed nice. And he was hot... By the time this went down in your head your cheeks were burning one again.
“I...yeah. Sure.My aunt can wait.”You took his hand and let him lead you in the middle of the waltzing crowd.
He was a suprisingly good dancer. Well, if you think about it it wasn't that surprising. He was at this gala. His eyes met your gaze and smirked. Jason looked down at you, took tale a better look at you. You wore a really beautiful dress. You must be from some rich family to be here.
"So how do you like it here so far Miss... Damn, I'm so rude! I didn't even ask your name neither have I introduced myself. My name's Jason Todd. And who would you be my dear?"
"Y/N Y/L. It's a pleasure" you did a quick bow which made Jason laugh a little.
"The pleasure is all mine Y/N. So...?"
"Oh yeah. Well you see I didn't wanted to come but my aunt is good friends with Mr Wayne and she really wanted me to accompany her so I didn't think I would particularly enjoy this night but now I'm actually starting to like it."
His lips curler upwards once again.
"I'm happy to hear that. And let me tell you I feel the exact same thing."
You continued dancing for a good 15 minutes or so when Jason asked if you wanted to drink something. When you nodded the two of you walked over to the bar and just as you got your drink you saw a tall burbette woman walk towards you.
"Diana!!" you exclaimed and launched forward to hug her. She opened her arms.
"Y/N!! I searched for you everywhere!" she shouted in suprise. She then stepped back to look at you, making sure you were alright.
"I'm sorry, I got lost and then asked Jason here to help me find you but we started dancing and lost track of time and....."
"It's alright honey I see you were in good hands. Hi Jason!" she made a small wave at your dancing partner.
"Diana! It's always a pleasure." he nodded with a kind smile.
"Wait... Do you know each other?"
"Well yes. I told you that Bruce is my friend. And I've met his sons a few time. " Diana explained
"His son??" you turned to him shocke.
He shrugged in a 'it's not that big of a deal' way.
"Adopted"Jason said taking a sip of his drink.
"You didn't tell me!"
"We met less than 30 minutes ago"
It was your turn to shrug your shoulders and hum in agreement. "That's true."
With Diana in your presence you become more comfortable with talking. Jason was quite a good person to talk to. You soon lost track of time again and when you next looked at Diana she was talking to a dark haired man. The man turned out to be Bruce Wayne, you've got intruduced, had a small talk, he spoke a little to Jason making him roll his eyes but the man turned his attention back to your 'aunt' short after.
Jason tapped your shoulder. "Hey, you wanna get some fresh air?"
You looked at Diana but she just smiled at you over Bruce's shoulder so you noded at the boy in front of you.
He took your hand and lead you out of the crowded room. It was dark and cold outside which you found comforting. It was a clear night and if you weren't this close to the city you could have seen some stars too. He took you to the garden and following a small trail you soon arrived to a bench under a huge oak tree. You sat down, eyes still glued to the sky.
“It’s nice isn’t it?” Jason gestured to the trees, the garden and all the flowers in it. “ I spend most of my time here. Well, besides my room and the gym.”
“Yeah, It is realy beautiful.” you agreed.
“Hey, aren’t you cold? Your hands are like icicles. I could give you my jacket, if you wanna.”
“No thanks. I like the cold.” you smiled
“Cool.”
“So Jason, you must tell me. What’s it like to live in a big mansion as this??”
None of your goddamn bussines- was his first thought. And he probably would have said that to anyone else but there was something about you.I mean he was just trying to flirt at te beginning but youve been talking non-stop for an hour or so since than.
“Cool. I mean it’s big as fuck so you can always sneak away in a corner to read calmy.”
To read calmly??? Really?? he thought. Why the fuck am I saying these to her?!
Jason was all about keeping his not caring, smug mask on all time and reading classic literature doesn’t fit in beetwen those lines. So he doesn’t really put it out in the open.
“I can imagine! It must be nice. You have a fireplace ,right? Curling up next to it with a good book...Ah, just thinking about it is great.”
Jason slightly raised his eyebrows in confusion as you did not mention his reading habits but soon he hid his suprise with a smirk.
“You could curl up next to me anytime, doll.”
You scoffed, trying to mask your embarrassment. Looking away you saw your favourite flower on the other side of the garden and stood up to smell them. Jason followed not long after. You two walked around in the garden for a fair amount of time before Jason lead you up a stairway. It lead to a balcony. The light breeze caught in your hair as you looked at the distant lights of Gotham City. You closed your eyes, just trying to cherish the moment. Neither of you talked, it was guiet but in a nice and comforting way. You don’t know how much time has passed but you winced a little when he spoke up, his soft spoken words bringing you back to the present.
“I liked this night, It was a relief to be around someone who is so chill. It’s rare tht i enjoy this kinda stuff.” he said looking ath the sky while leaning on the balcony railing. You felt a sense of pride, making you feel wam, You were so happy that you could make his night better.
“I did enjoy this too. You’re a good company. I don’t know what will you say but I must ask...Would you like to keep in touch?”
You really loved your time with Jason. His lips curvd up in a smirk.
“Oh believe me,doll. I konw I’m the best company. I’ll give ya my number, call me back so I’ll have yours too.”
Afer exchanging numbers you went back inside because it was actually pretty cold out there and seeing that the guest has left, leaving Alfred to clean up the mess. You two decided to help him. Diana and Bruce were talking anyway. By the time Diana grabbed your coat and announced that it’s time to get going you were exhausted so yo only nded in response. After both of you said your goodbyes you left too.
You popped yourself down on your bed but not before taking a quick shower and changing into your pj’s. Just than you saw your phone’s screen lit up. Looking t it you saw it was a messege from Jason. Curiously, you opened it.
Jason: hey just checking in to ask if you got home safley?
You: Aww thats sweet! Yeah we got home not so long ago
Jason: Cool. you should prob. go to sleep. it late.
You: yeah. Good night Jason
Jason: Night!
You woke up to th sound of your phones notification. Furiously throwing a pillow over your head you tried to slep back but your phone beeped again. Ahh why didn’t I mute it?? You rolled over to your side to mute your phone now but as you did you saw that it was Jason who decided to terrorize you at such an early hour. Turns out he sent you a random meme.
You: You woke me up for this??
You stumbled into the kitchen with your phone in hand.Diana saw you entering and greeted you with a big smile.
"Good morning Y/N! I hope your rest was peaceful. Do you want breakfast?"
With your eyes locked to the screen you didn't hear anything making Diana try again.
"Helloo, Diana to Y/N! Do you want breakfast?"
After not making any reaction at all, Diana jumped next to you an looked over your shoulder. She pulled back with a kind smile. She gently shook your arm causing you to look up.
"Oh Diana! Good morning."
She shook her heas laughing slightly.
"Good morning dear. Do you want some pancakes? I made too many for myself."
"Sure! Thank you Di." you said grabbed a plate and packed it with the sweet food.
"I'll go jogging for an an hour or so after that we can train, alright?" she asked while pouring you some (coffee/orange juice/tea/anything you want). You nodded and thanked the drink. You were about to unlock your phone when Diana spoke again.
"Im glad you and Jason met yesterday. You're both inneed of friends."
"Heeey! Did you just call me a loner? Eh.. You're right."you said shrugging your shoulders.
"No. I'm just saying that you are an amazing girl but your afraid to open up causing you to have a small amount of friends. And even though I don't know Jason that well but he seems lonley... Alrighty. I'm gonna head out. Bye!"
Well yeah. If you ever wondered how it was to live with Wonder Woman it was pretty much like this. She took you in almost a year ago. That's when you developed your powers amd she offered to help you with them and to train you. It was really hard at the beginning but now it's much more easier for you to control your powers.
You still texted with Jason about random stuff when Diana called you into the training room. You quickly wrote Jason that you have to go but you'll write asap.
Days went on, even a week passed, you spoke with Jason every day, and even decided to meet up for coffee next Saturday, two weeks after you met.
Diana was kind enough to drop you off at the caffee house you agreed on meeting. You were a bit early so you stood outside leaning back against the wall. Not gonna lie you were nervous but weren't exactly sure why. You played with the hem of your shirt and checked your phone every second. He was supposed to be here 5 minutes ago. You started to doubt that he would come. That's when you heard a a motorcycle pull up a few steps from you. The driver stoped the engine and stood up. He took of his helmet, revealing a smug looking Jason. You rooled your eyes at him as you pushed yourself away from the wall with your feet and walked over.
"You are a drama queen." you laughed.
"Thanks Y/n and hello to you too." he said in a fake offended tone. He than open his arms and you hesitantly huged him.
"Hi Jay." you whispered. Gosh you almost forgot his collagen. You let go so you could go inside. He opened the door for you causing you to chuckle.
While you ordered he found a good spot in the corner next to a big window so he could keep an eye on his motor. You came back with your drinks and sat opposite him. He gratefully grabbed it and took a good sip.
"So, what's up, doll?"
Getting kinda used to his pet names you shrugged.
"Eh, not much happened since last night when we talked." you had to stop for a sec to think back what you actually did besides talking to Jason. "Oh! I binged (fav show)."
"Without me? I'm hurt." he said hiding a smile.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. We should have a marathon sometime though."
"Uuuh, netlfix and chill?"
You rolled your eyes again getting better at hiding your blush.
"What did you do yesterday?"
"You know, typical friday night. Out on the streets looking for danger." he smiled. And well, he wasn't lying. You just laughed it off. Oh, Jason if only you knew how that really is.
"Okay, keep your secrets, Todd."
After chatting for an hour or so you exited the shop. You didn't want to leave him yet but he started to put back on his jacket, which he pulled down in the shop after complaining that it was too hot inside, and grabbed his helmet.
You took out your phone to text Diana to get you when Jay offered you a second helmet which you didn't see before.
"I could take you home. If you want"
"Really?? Wow that would be great. Thanks Jay” you took the helmet and climbed up behind him.
“No problem, babe. Just hold on tight.” he started the engine and drove off to the flat you share with Diana. She wasn’t home yet, after you texted her that Jason would bring you home she told you she’ll go out shopping.
You felt your adrenalin level raise up and hold on to Jason even tighter. He didn’t really bother to stay between the speed limits but for some reason you didn’t really mind. You looked at the scenery you passed by and couldn’t help but smile. It was an amazig feeling, feeling the wind, you felt so carefree.
He stopped, too soon for your liking, at your home. You give him back his helmet and went to hug him but he pulled off his helmet too.
“Can I come in? I don’t wanna go home yet...”
“Yeah..Sure, of course! Come in. It’s not half as cool as the manor but it’s really cosy.” you unlocked the door and gestured for him to step in. you quickly sliped out of your shoes and stepped further in to the flat.
“Uh please take of your boots. Di will kill both of us if she sees that.” with a chuckle he started to untngle the laces of his boots.
“Okay, okay. I would have took it off anyway. I live with an Alfred, you know. He could easyly kill me with a broomstick without spillig blood anywhere. So you know..I learned to take ‘em off.”
He stepped in, now free of his boots and leather jacket. You gestured to the couch nervously
“We could watch something.”
“’kay. But I get to choose the movie.” he popped down and went to search for a movie. You sat down leaving space between the two of you. You ended up wathcing The Breakfast Club, muh to your suprise. You didn’t talk during the film, you only stopped it once to get some snacks.
“Well, thanks for letting me crash for a bit.”
“It’s nothing, I’m glad you were here.”
He flashed his signiture smile at you.
“Let’s make this into a regular thing, ‘kay?”
He went away, making you sink back to the couch, letting your thoughts run free. You liked Jason more and more every minute. It seems that he seemed to enjoy your company too. You han out more, mostly on the weekends.
Sometimes you went to get something to eat, other times you went to the cinema or to book stores, you even accompanied him to buy a new pair of boots after he somehow (he didn't you how) destroyed. Sometimes you even hang out in the manor or at your flat. You often played video games, filling the huge mansion with screams and loud swearing (it was mostly Jason) much to Alfred's dismay. Or maybe you where just blasting your favorite musics while talking about everything. Book, games, movies, bands, fictional characters, conspiracy theories. Or that one time when you were playing fuck, marry, kill Gotham edition and Alfred accidentally entered the room.
"... Fuck! Obviously! Like have you seen him?? I mean he is a JERK buut he is a hot jerk. You get what I'm saying?"
"Yeah, definitely. So fuck the Riddler, what's up with Croc?" you nodded in agreement.
"Well I guess I already said I'm marrying Poison so...Kill the Croc."
Poor Alfred just stood at the door not wanting to believe his eyes.
So yeah. You talked about all kinds of things. Except for...well emotions. Which you were okay with. Jay didn't seem like the guy to pour out his soul very often. That was until one night, after the two of you went to the cinema. You wanted walk for a bit before going home so he lead the way. While talking Jay manged to accidentally wapk you to the wrong part of the town. As soon as he realized where you were he too your hand and pulled you close, protectively. He seemed to be familiar with the scenery but you didn't ask why. He told you anyway.
"I grew up here, ya know." his voice was quiet, not sure if it was because he didn't want to attract any attention or just because it was simply not a topic he speaks regularly about. Maybe both. You looked around horrified. This is not a place for kids to grow up. Hardly for adults to live.
"Jesus..." was all you could manage to breath out. He shook his head chuckling.
"I know, right? This place holds the sweetest memories of my life." you felt the sarcasm behind his big smile as he looked around with a found expression. You tightened your hold on his hand.
"Jay... Do you wanna..like uhm... Talk about it?"
He exhaled as a more serious expression appeared on his beautiful face.
"Nah. I don't even know why I stared to talk about it in the first place." he looked down at his shoes. "It's just that I feel like every time I'm with you I have to stop myself from telling you everything about myself. I never had that before. I dont- I hate talking about my past. It's shitty as it is but I don't wanna be defined by it. I don't want people to feel sorry for me. But with you... It's- I don't know."
You could believe your ears but you didn't have much time to stare at him blankly. You quickly snapped out of it and turned to him.
" Jason. I'm...happy you feel like you can tell me all of this.. Because you can. If you want to I'm always ready to listen to whatever you have to say. Because I care for you."
He manged a weak smile.
"It's just so frustrating. Because I know you actually care? Which is so weird to me."
"It shouldn't be weird. You deserve to have people who love you and care for you."
He opened his mouth and closed it again. 2 minutes have surely passed before he spoke again.
"You wanna sleep over?"
You didn't want to leave him alone like this so you agreed. He fished his phone out of his pocket and quickly sent a text.
"I texted Alfred he'll pick us up." he pulled you in to a narrow alleyway than turned righted and you found yourself on a busy street. He pointed at the 0-24 junk food restaurant at the other side of the street. "Let's wait for him there."
"Here you go this will do it, I will try to find a pair sweatpants too." he handed you a black shirt with a band's name on it and went back to his closet to grab you some comfy pants for you to sleep in.
After both of you changed, you in the bathroom, Jay in his room, you climbed in his bed feeling a little nervous. You have sat and layed on his bed multiple times but never have you slept in it with him. Except for that time when you fell asleep while playing video games. You had a super long and tiring night of crime fighting before that and you just couldn't keeo your eyes open.
He was already siting there, leaning his back to the backboard of the bed. He put on a movie he knows you love and hit play when you sat next o him and pulled the blanket over you.
" You comfy?"
"Hmm" you nodded your head, keeping your eyes glued to the tv.
You watched the movie and when it was over Jason just put on some random series. You watched it, but both of you paid more attention to your thoughts than the tv. Jason was playing back your words in his head over and over again. I care for you. His heart skipped a beat every time he thought back to it. It was so obvious that he liked you and it has only occurred to him now. He glanced over at you, looking cute as hell in his shirt.
Just that, as he turned back to the tv he felt you moving around and than he felt your head on his shoulder. He tensed at the contact but didn't say anything, he only let out a shaky breath.
"Does this bother you?"
"Not at all, princess!" he didn't even look at you, afraid his eyes would tell something he didn't wanted you to know just yet.
"In that case..." he felt your arm wrapping around him as you pulled yourself a bit closer. Normally you wouldn't do thia but to your defense he needs hugs. Also he is so comfy.
It wasn't long before Jason reached for the remote control.
"I've had enough of this." you jumped slightly at his voice, gotten used the quiet noise of the tv. "Do you mind if I turn it off?"
"No.." you shook your head, already feeling sleepy but you tried to stay awake so Jason wouldn't be alone, so you turned to him "But I don't wanna sleep yet."
"I didn't say we have to sleep" he turned the tv off amd grabbed his phone from the nightstand next to him. He opened his music library. "Do you wanna put on the music?"
"Give me" you snatched the phone from his hand, earing a laugh from him. You actually understood that even sharing his music taste with you was a really personal thing for Jason. You scrolled down till you found something that fitted the 3am vibe. You earned an amused smile with your choice. You don't know how long gave the two of you stayed uo but you fall asleep cuddling him and he eventually turned towards you in his sleep and hung his arm over you.
Sleepovers became a once in a week thing for you. Both of you ditched patrolling for that day, even if you didn't know the other did that. Whenever you weren't helping Wonder Woman you were with Jason. And sharing personal things became pretty common between the two of you. Jason started to open up more as the weeks and moths past and that felt nice. More than nice actually. He was sweet with you. So happy all the time and gentle with you. One time you were coming over to the manor and Alfred opened the door for you he stoped you for a minute before you could ran to find Jason. He thanked you for brightening up Jason's life.
"Seriously Miss Y/N. Master Jason has been much happier since the night you've met. He has finally someone who he can trust and is in the same age range as him"
"It's nothing Alfred, really. I am lucky to have someone like him"
Don't think for a second that Alfred missed the dreamy look on your face as you talked about him. Your face as it lightened up when Jason walked passed greeting you. And especially not Jason's huge and honest smile as he hugged you close. Alfred knew it long before the two of you did.
You basically liked him since the beginning. Which isn't that surprising considering his looks. But every day you spent with him you fall deeper and deeper in to the hole of emotions.
You were super excited when Diana announced that you'll be going on a mission alongside with the Dynamic Duo. You threw on your supersuit and now you were just waiting for Diana to get ready.
"Diiiii! Comeee ooon! Let's get going!"
"I'm coming, I'm coming. Chill Y/N!"
"I'm sorry I'm just so EXCITED! I can't believe I'm going to fight crime with the Batman."
"And Robin too." she said with knowing smirk you didn't know where to put but you didn't give much thought to it.
"Yeah! Robin and Batman! Unbelievable. Even if it's for a boring mission like this.." you said. Diana quickly turned towards you with a scowl.
"Y/N! This is an important mission and a wonderful opportunity for you to learn. If they get those shipment into Gotham, Zeus knows that Batman won't be enough to defend the city. I need you to focus. Don't make me regret bringing you along."
The mission wasn't too complicated. Group A wanted buy the deadly weapons from group B. You have to take down said groups amd make sure that all the weapons stays in safe hands.
You and Wonder Woman were looking down from a building, just above the spot where the business is supposed to take place in a few minutes. On the other side, opposite from you on a roof were Batman and Robin. The trucks with the stuff had arrived and just as tge men were about to get out Batman signaled for Wonder Woman and they jumped down leaving you and Robin on the other side alone. You rolled your eyes annoyed. So much for excitement!
Robin seemed to read your mind as he waived his hand to get your attention. He pointed down, made some punching movements then raised his hand mouthing 'what do ya say?"
You grined at him giving him a thumbs up. Truth to be told both of your partners said to wait for their signal but neither of you could care more You wanted to kick some ass!
You used you icy powers to create some sort of chute. You slide down landing gracefully, the same moment Robin did. The scene caused everyone to look your way. This gave a little time for the criminals just enough for them to grab their guns. You and Robin jumped out of the gunfire together. In sync you began to take down goon after goon. Batman and WW had no chance to join in as the two of you took down every one of them amazingly fast. It seemed you took care of everything so you made your way over to Robin.
"Nice to officially meet you! I'm (superhero name)!" you when to shook his hand when you heard a gun firing and felt a sharp pain. Falling backwards you geared a distant scream and saw some shadowy movement before blacking out.
You haven't yet opened your eyes both the first thing you felt was numbness and distant talking.
"....and I take full responsibility for that!"
"That's not enough what if...."
"No what ifs! She is gonna be fine! I know her! You know her! She will be just fine. She has to be..."
You felt your consciousness slipping away again but just before you blacked out you quickly breathed out the name of the person who you've just heard. Jason
When you opened your eyes it was dark. You blinked a few times but it was still blurry. You tried to remember where you were, what happened but you felt like your memories where just floating around in your head in no particular order. But you felt something something im your hand. Or on your hand. You tried to turn to look but you felt pain shaking your whole body. You hissed grimacing
"Shit, no! Don't try to move Y/N." it was Jason. His hand was holding yours and he was speaking to you. Your brain slowly processed his words trying to fit in the information. When the last piece connected you finally remembered what happened. You looked at you bandaged side. You've shot. You looked at the boy at your side.
"H-how.. How are here? And... "you looked around at the unfamiliar place" Where is here?"
" You are in the Batcave." he said softly."We brought you here right after you've been shot. Alfred he uhm he patched you up. Do-don't worry it's not as bad as you think. It- it went straight through and didn't catch anything so uhm..." you saw how nervous he was. He was either going to scream or burst out in tears any minute.
" You... Jason what are you doing here? Did Diana get you here.... Do you.. Do you know who I am? " you were so confused. He avoided your gaze but his hand gripped your just a little tighter.
"No.. Diana did not bring me here. I was there when you got shot. I am... Y/N I know you are (superheroname) but you have to know I was there because I am Robin."
You snapped your head up gasping. You started at him.
"You.... Are.... Robin???"
"And you're (superheroname)" he let out a shaky laugh. "I probably should get Diana and Bruce..."
"Please don't leave." you said desperately
"I haven't left your side since we arrived, only to change but even that it was Bruce who told me to go"
"How long was I out?"
"Almost a whole day. It's night again...And Alfred said not to move you for a few days so you are spending the night in the cave"
You looked around terrified.
"Don't look so fucking scared, doll. I told you I'm not leaving you. This is where I have to be. At your side." you looked up in his eyes. You could see it. And he could see it too. Both of you felt it but were to afraid to say something that would break the silence. Still you saw him open his mouth.
" You know... "you saw tge real Jason. Nervously rushing his fingers in his messy hair with his free hand while you felt the other one starting to get shaky and sweaty.
" Jay"you breathed softly "I know.You don't have to.."
He was trying so hard not to choke on his words as he shook his head, a silent cry shaking him.
"No I ne-need to. I almost lost you. I have to say it. I lo..." he squeezed his eyes shut taking a deep breath. This moment played down in his had so many times. But he didn't imagine him literally breaking down in front of you. You ran your thumb across his hand comforting him. You were so patient and... He tried to hold back a sob but it escaped anyway causing your eyes to fill up with tears.
"I love you so fucking much Y/N" he finally cried out. You reached up to his cheek to wipe away his tears.
"I love you to Jason. So much."
He slowly leaned down stopping inches from your face. You felt his breath on your skin. Time seemed to so slow down and the only thing you heard was your breathing and your heartbeats. The only thing you saw was Jason. His beautiful features looking at you, taking in every detail. Your lips finally connected with his plump ones waking up the butterflies in your stomach. Your hand which wasn't holding his went to touch his oh so gorgeous curls you loved so much. You felt his hand on your cheek, brushing away some hair and then just resting there for a few seconds. He was careful not to lean on you too much or pressure you. Much to your dismay he pulled away with the biggest smile on his face.
"A much as I want to continue, you need the rest."
You still felt like your heart could explode any minute but you just nodded as you felt your voice would probably betray you.
He spend the night with you, just as he promised and he didn't leave your side the next day nor the day after etc. He was their when you could finally stand up, he was the one who helped you out of bed and he was with you every step in to your healing. And when you finally got better he took you on your first date. You said you wnated nothing fancy so it was a dinner at a fast food restaurant... And than he took you to the theater to see a play because it's Jason. Of course he would. He ended the night with a motorcycle ride to outside of town where you were able to see the stars.
Your relationship hasn't changed much, well you kissed more and spent more time together (if that was possible) but you still talked about everything. You still played video games, still had movie marathons and sat down for coffee on sundays. You love each other so much, even a blind person could see it. You were the power couple™. And anyone who crossed path with Robin and (superheroname) would regret the night they were born.

Summary: In which Blossom decides she is definitely girlfriend material, and so does everybody else.
***We are welcoming more submissions for this prompt for the month of July! If you want to participate, please check out the PPG Challenge Hub collection on AO3.***

Nothing short of witchcraft could have held Buttercup’s 1997 Ford F-Series pickup truck together as it ambled over rocky switchbacks and through dense, Redwood forest to the Vista Lakes campgrounds for the Townsville High Junior and Senior classes’ biannual end-of-semester party. Blossom kept a stranglehold on the passenger door and hissed her displeasure over every dip that lurched the old truck too close to the edge of the road. The drop to the bottom of the mountain was a good thousand feet, a death knell for the Normies riding along with them.
Mitch and Harry, however, did not seem to mind as much.
“Oh shit!” Mitch whooped when Buttercup went over a particularly deep crag in the road and rocked the whole truck.
“Buttercup, please slow down,” Blossom pleaded.
“Don’t you fuckin’ dare,” Mitch said through the sliding window that opened up onto the truck bed, where he and Harry rode with the sleeping bags, food, and extra blankets.
Harry laughed. “We’re cool Blossom, don’t worry.”
“Yeah Blossom, don’t worry,” Buttercup drawled. “Besides, it’s not like a fall from this height would kill us.”
“I’m sure Mitch and Harry feel super reassured to hear you say that,” Blossom said snidely.
“Super duper!” Mitch said. He flashed the rearview mirror a sign of the horns and winked.
Blossom forced herself to ignore his goading and kept her eyes firmly on the road ahead just in case. “I should never have agreed to this.”
“Well, tough shit, Leader Girl. You could’ve gotten a ride with Bubbles earlier if you’d left your Winter Break homework until the last day like everybody else, but noooooooo.”
“Not everybody waits until the last minute to get the homework done, for your information.”
“They totally do.”
“They totally don’t.”
“Do.”
“Don’t—ugh, no, I’m not arguing like this with you.”
Buttercup smirked like she’d won the argument (she definitely did not). “Whatever. We’re basically here and no one’s fallen to their death yet, so you can chill.”
The road emptied out onto a clearing overlooking the side of the mountain. Three deep, blue lakes sat still and tranquil, each surrounded by clusters of gnarled Redwoods and camp sites. A lot of people were already here considering the late hour, and a few campfires blazed bright along the shorelines. The gloaming crept over the horizon, casting the valley below in shadow and the skies in dusky, bleeding streaks of red like spilled wine. High above, blues deepened to blacks, but it was still early for stars.
Buttercup parked off the main campsite and the boys began unloading the truck bed. When they struggled with a cooler crammed full of ice, Blossom lifted it effortlessly and floated it over to join others that had already been packed with cheap beer and grill meat.
“Eyyyy there she is!” Boomer opened his arms and pulled Blossom into his letter jacket for a big hug. “I’m glad you decided to come.”
Blossom returned his hug with a smile. “Me too.”
“I told you she would,” said Bubbles, and she nudged Butch who was busy putting away a plate piled high with four hamburgers. He took one look at Blossom and grinned.
“Hey, Highness,” Butch drawled.
Blossom shot him a withering look. “Hi, Butch.” Ever since she’d beaten him in a not-so-friendly spar while Buttercup was out of commission, he’d mellowed out and taken to nicknaming and weirdly friendly ribbing.
“Comin’ down from that pretty throne to hang with the cool kids, huh?”
He stuffed an entire burger in his mouth, while Blossom threw up a little in hers.
“Shut up, Butch. You sound like a creepy old man.” Buttercup arrived carrying two twenty-four packs of beer that she dropped in Butch’s lap. He caught them with a grunt, and Bubbles caught his plate of uneaten burgers.
“Bitch, you love every glistening inch of this.” Butch stood up shouldering the enormous beer crates like they weighed nothing, because they did.
“I love cold beer, so move your glistening ass.” Buttercup snatched one of his uneaten burgers and stuffed it in her mouth.
Somehow, Buttercup got Butch up and helping, and when Mitch and Harry joined them, it was short work to unload everything from Buttercup’s truck. Blossom rolled out her sleeping bag on the grass amidst all the others, but no one would be sleeping tonight. It was merely a courtesy for the too high or the too passed out.
Around the campsite, Juniors and Seniors lounged with beers and blunts, enjoying their last night together before Winter Break. Among them, Wes had his arm around Kim as he flipped hot dogs on a standing grill and chatted up Mike and Robin. Blossom watched them a moment, debating whether to interrupt the conversation to say hi.
Bubbles slipped her arm around Blossom’s waist and squeezed affectionately. “You look a little lost.”
“No, just hanging out, you know.” She returned the half embrace, and they stood there a moment enjoying the cool night air.
“Hey, Blossom! You wanna sit with us?” Harry called. He and a few others had set up some lawn chairs by the shore and were passing beers.
Bubbles giggled. “You know he likes you,” she said.
“What—He does?!” Blossom sputtered.
“For sure. And, you know, since you’re totally not with anybody else, you could have some fun talking to him.”
“You mean, flirt with him.”
Bubbles was as innocent as a lamb. “I mean, be nice to him. That could be fun, right?”
Blossom had nothing to say to that. She was not, in fact, “with” anybody else. And she had every right to talk to whomever of her friends she wanted, so technically Bubbles had a point, but…
Blossom searched the faces gathered. In the encroaching darkness, it was getting harder to pick out profiles and bright colors to see who was here and who hadn’t yet arrived. “I don’t know.”
But Bubbles was already dragging her over to Harry’s circle and waving back to him. Seated in between Harry on one side and Kim on the other, Blossom was handed a burger and a beer and encouraged to participate in the conversation.
“My folks’re taking me to our cabin in Tahoe to go skiing over the break,” Harry was saying.
“That sounds fun,” Blossom said.
He shrugged. “Yeah, sure, if you count me eating snow every five feet when I can’t stop falling.”
“Come on, I’m sure it won’t be that bad.”
“Oh, yeah? I bet it’d be a cake walk for you, Miss Snow Queen.” Harry grinned, and the corners of his dark eyes crinkled cutely.
“Just because I have ice powers doesn’t make me a Winter sports maven. I’ve never skied in my life.”
“Psh, can’t be that hard, right? You start at the top of the mountain, and you end up at the bottom.”
Blossom bit back a smile. “I mean, I think it’s a little more involved than that.”
Harry laughed and leaned over the armrest closer to her. “Well, consider us both noobs. Anyway, most of the time’s spent hanging out at the cabin drinking hot chocolate anyway, right? Best part.”
Blossom tugged on her long, red ponytail as Harry continued to smile at her. She imagined the scene: a cozy ski lodge surrounded by snow, and a smiling boy content to ignore the blunt their friends were passing just to talk to her some more. She would like that. It would be easy, simple, and soft. Normal.
“Um, you know, I was thinking of inviting a few friends for a weekend. Just, like, a small group, and uh, well, I was wondering…” Harry stumbled in the dark looking for the question he meant to ask.
She could say yes, and she could have fun. With him, with any nice boy, it could be fun. How silly that just a few months ago, she had let herself believe she wasn’t the desirable type just because some mean girls said so. It all seemed so absurd now, and yet Blossom could not bring herself to give Harry the easy, simple, soft “yes” he wanted.
“Oh hey! You can have my seat, I’m grabbing more food,” said Kim on Blossom’s other side.
“Thanks.”
Like a hand to the stove, that voice hit her with a searing demand to be acknowledged. Old habits perhaps, or new ones. He wasn’t one to be ignored, not by her at least. Not these days.
“Brick,” Blossom said, half a question, half a sigh. She pulled back from Harry to look at him properly.
He’d taken Kim’s vacated seat directly next to her and nursed a solo cup of beer. Like her, he was dressed for the December chill in long sleeves, and his trademark red cap sat backwards over his short hair, as always. Red eyes held hers in a look that lingered.
“Blossom.” He spoke her name like a secret.
He was late. Why was he late? It wasn’t like him. She hadn’t seen him since third period yesterday. Was it only yesterday, or years ago?
“Hey, Brick,” Harry said, leaning over so he could see around Blossom. “Butch said you might not make it tonight.”
Blossom worried her lip between her teeth, and Brick took a long sip of beer as he slowly averted his gaze to Harry on her other side. “Here I am.”
“Uh, yeah, so Blossom,” Harry said. “About Tahoe…”
xxx
Blossom tugged on her ponytail as she turned back to Harry. Brick watched her twist her anxious fingers through her hair and narrowed his eyes.
“Hm? Oh, right,” she said.
“Yeah, so like I was saying, my parents’ cabin has a few extra bedrooms, so we could make a whole weekend out of it. Skiing, hot chocolate, the works. It’d be cool if you came. What do you say?”
“You throwing a rager?” Brick interrupted.
Harry leaned forward to see Brick again like he’d forgotten he was sitting there at all. “Nah man, just a couple friends for a weekend trip.”
“Cool. Who’s going?”
“Uh, I mean, I don’t have a list or anything. Sorta just came up with it now, so…”
“So you still have space. Count me in,” Brick said.
Blossom and Harry both looked at him like he’d suggested they all go jump in the lake.
“You want to go skiing in Tahoe?” Blossom asked.
Brick shrugged. “Sure, if it means a weekend away from my idiot brothers. Thanks for the invite, Harry.”
Harry gaped, and Blossom ceased pulling at her ponytail to stare at Brick.
“I mean,” Harry said, and nodded super obviously towards Blossom while she wasn’t looking.
“How many others could we invite?” Blossom asked. “If it’s okay with your parents, I mean.”
Harry looked at Blossom, and then he looked at Brick, who sipped his beer like the oblivious, teenaged simpleton he one hundred percent was not. Giving up, Harry sighed and rubbed a hand over his buzz cut. “There’s room for two more if you’re both going to be there.”
Blossom lit up. “How about Wes and Kim? Or Pablo and Hanout?”
Harry sat back in his chair and nursed his beer. “Yeah, fine, whatever you want.”
She was smiling now.
“Wes and Kim,” Brick said. “Pablo snores like a motherfucker.”
“That’s true,” Harry said forlornly.
“Well, either way,” Blossom said, clearly torn between telling them both off and the desire to finalize plans.
Brick got up. “Let us know what weekend. I’m free whenever.”
Pleasantly yet unsurprisingly, Blossom got up too. “Me too. Thanks Harry, this’ll be fun.” She smiled genuinely at him, and he returned it.
“Yeah, the best,” Harry said dejectedly.
Blossom followed Brick as he led her away from the main campsite along the shoreline in the direction of the drop-off.
“Okay, what was that?” she asked when they were away from the roar of the music and the campfires.
“What was what?” Brick asked. It was dark now, and the farther they wandered from the center of the party, the harder it was to see the shoreline as his eyes adjusted.
“You invited yourself to Harry’s. Are you even that close?”
He paused and looked at her. “Are you?”
Blossom clutched the ends of her jacket as she blinked up at him. “We’re friends,” she hedged. “He’s a nice guy.”
Brick smirked. “Uh-huh. Real nice.”
“What does that mean?”
“You tell me. Am I intruding?”
Blossom studied him through the gloom. She was close enough that he could smell her perfume, silken and subtle. “No,” she said at length. “There’s nothing to intrude on.”
He watched her walk along ahead of him, her long ponytail a bloody lash under the cover of night. He chucked his beer and went after her.
“This way,” he said, breaking from the shore and heading into the trees.
“Where are we going?” Blossom drew close. “It’s so dark tonight.”
“I think it’s a new moon. Here.” Brick found her hand so they wouldn’t get separated in the pitch black of the canopy.
Blossom’s hand was cool in his, and she slipped the other one around his arm as he walked deeper into the forest. The walk wasn’t far, and soon the trees thinned as they emerged onto the shore of the lake nearest to the precipice overlooking the valley below. Brick had set up his sleeping bag in the grass far away from the rabble where he could have the best view undisturbed.
“Wow.” Blossom approached the black waters, so still they reflected the night sky back flawlessly. Flurries of stars as far as the eye could see scattered above and below like snowflakes frozen in flight. The Milky Way ripped through the firmament, bleeding more stars clustered so closely together they glimmered ice-bright. “I feel like I just stepped into another world.”
Brick jammed his hands in his jeans pockets and drew up next to her. “Consequence of being away from all the city lights for a change.”
“Mm.”
They lapsed into silence for a bit as they watched the nightscape unfold above and upon the water. Brick’s eyes fully adjusted to the lambent starlight, but it was a cold light, and he wore only a thin, red hoodie to stave off the chill. Blossom noticed him shuffle beside her.
“Do you want my jacket?” she teased.
“Ha ha,” Brick groused. But it was fucking cold out here, now that she mentioned it. He had always been particularly sensitive to it in a way she wasn’t. “My sleeping bag should do the trick.”
They retreated to his makeshift camp, where Brick shimmied into his sleeping bag and Blossom sat on the mat next to him, perfectly at ease in the cold. She leaned back on her hands to admire the stars, content like she could watch them all night. Their gossamer light draped her like a veil, softening her edges and igniting her colors. Brick had the sudden urge to touch her, to prove she was no pearlescent dream, that the cold cornering him now was hers and not just the darkness.
“Why were you late tonight?” she asked out of the blue.
Brick lay back on the mat and looked up at the jeweled sky. “Finished the homework.”
Her laugh was as soft as the starlight, and she grinned at him over her shoulder. “Me too.”
Obviously. He wouldn’t put it past her. It didn’t matter, only, he didn’t want to have one more thing to worry about over the break while also spending way more time than usual around his brothers with nothing to keep their focus for eight hours of the day. But the knowledge seemed to please her, which was just as well.
“I told you I was coming tonight,” he said.
And yet, Boomer had blown up his phone texting him all evening wondering where the hell he was, why wasn’t he here yet, and didn’t he realize people were waiting for him? The last text was one he received when he’d touched down at the edge of the campsite and it was already dark: a candid picture of Blossom talking with Harry by a campfire, and she looked happy. Brick had not responded to it or to any of the other annoying texts. Kim had been more than happy to give him her chair the minute she saw him approaching.
“Here you are,” Blossom said, hushed and half-lidded.
Here we are.
Brick curled an arm under his head. “View’s better from down here.”
She worried her lip—did she even realize she did that? That he noticed?—but ultimately lay down next to him on the mat. “Oh, wow…”
The starscape shimmered far and above, and Brick began to pick out patterns in the cosmos. “There, Cassiopeia.” He pointed to a cluster of stars.
“You know your constellations?” she asked.
“A few.”
He could practically feel the aura of challenge she exuded like a pheromone.
“All right. Perseus,” she said.
Brick pointed to a long line of stars near Cassiopeia. “Right next to Andromeda.”
“That was a freebie to test the waters.”
Brick chuckled. “Sure.”
“Okay Star Lord, show me Gemini.”
Brick swept his hand south and west of Perseus to a pair of star lines facing each other. “A couple of gossipy bitches.”
She shoved him playfully, and he caught her with his free arm, pulling her close. “You’re terrible.”
“I’m right. Next?”
“Let’s see… How about Leo?”
With one arm anchoring her to his side, Brick traced the patterns she called out with the other. Dead heroes and their monsters rose from glittering graves with every sweep of his fingers and kept them company in the dark.
She tugged at his sleeve as he searched for the elusive Pyxis constellation. “Hey, we should probably get back to the party.”
Brick let his hand drop. “Why?”
“Because we’ll be missed, obviously.”
He chuckled. “I bet someone’s missing you.”
Blossom rolled onto her side to face him. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing.”
“It doesn’t sound like nothing.”
He’d taken her to breakfast. It wasn’t a date; he hadn’t technically asked, and she only came because she was hungry and didn’t want to go home yet. It was the first time he’d ever seen her cry—no, sob because of what some dumb girls said to her at a party. Just the normal high school bullshit, and she’d fallen apart. Breakfast was the fucking least he could do after the ignominy of seeing her like that. It just turned out that it wasn’t the last.
Too many breakfasts and long hours spent prepping for finals turned into expectation, expectation turned into anticipation, and anticipation became the new normal. They weren’t together no matter what rumors Bubbles and Robin started and stopped. They weren’t not together either, considering they usually were, in fact, together. It had only been a few months since she’d handed Butch his balls wrapped up in a pretty pink bow and left Brick speechless to behold her, a few months since he’d found her insecure and vulnerable on that rooftop and called her beautiful because she was, holy fuck she was, and so much more.
Blossom was old wounds that should have healed long ago, that he should never have opened again, but she was still so new and he didn’t know, he didn’t know.
She slipped her hand over the cover of his sleeping bag and curled her fingers in his shirt. “Brick,” she said in a voice full of galaxies and longing.
He’d always liked the sound of his own name, after all.
When he kissed her, she tasted like starlight, cold fire. He pulled her closer, kissed her deeper, a step into the unknown, but the unknown was where she was and she was everything. Her breath hitched and she opened for him, just like that day on the rooftop, but he didn’t look away this time and she kissed him back like it had been her idea all along. Chemical X crackled on their flushed skin as he rolled onto his back and brought her with him, her weight on his chest a warmth and a fantasy.
Blossom’s long bangs fanned his cheeks as she hovered above him and he held on to her. He dreamed she might fall back into the sea of stars and he would dive in after her should he let her go. He didn’t let her go.
“I don’t actually want to go to Tahoe,” Brick said.
She laughed, light as a moonbeam. “Neither do I.”
He threaded his fingers through her hair, pulled her down again. “Good.”
She smiled into the kiss and wrapped her arms around him.
xxx
No one took much notice when Blossom and Brick popped up at the campsite after a protracted absence. No one except Bubbles, who passed Butch her perfectly roasted marshmallow, which he wolfed down right off the stick without waiting for it to cool. She discreetly got out her phone and snapped a few pictures of Blossom leading Brick by the hand to a couple empty chairs near Wes and Kim. When Brick leaned back in his chair and put his arm around the back of Blossom’s so she could lean into him, Bubbles had to work very hard not to squeal.
Clearly, Boomer sending Brick that picture of Harry chatting up Blossom had had the intended outcome.
She fired off twenty pictures to Robin.
[Bubbles: Yearbook?? 👀]
Robin, who was on the other side of the large campfire with Buttercup, Julie, Mitch, and the Floyjoydson twins, spat out her beer when she saw the pictures.
Bubbles snickered to herself.
“What’re you so happy about?” Butch said halfway through a game of Chubby Bunny.
Bubbles poked his mallow-stuffed cheek and winked. “It’s a secret.”
He rolled his eyes and stuffed another marshmallow in his mouth. “Laaaaame.”
Bubbles stole another glance at Blossom and Brick. She was laughing at something Kim had said, and he turned to whisper something to her. Bubbles bit her lip to hide her smile.
“But not for long,” she sang to herself.
Boomer came up behind Blossom and Brick and threw his arms around them both, laughing and pulling them close. Brick didn’t even try to push him off.
Not for long at all.

🎧 Pree me - Burna Boy
« Captain Phillips on the line. We are arriving to Tulum Mexico. The weather is 33c and the local hour is 11am. Please find back your seat and don’t undo your seatbelt before the redlight turn off. » I made sure that my seatbelt was well set before I turned my head towards the window. I love to take plan. It’s scary but I love it. More over it wasn’t a long flight so I enjoyed it. When the plane landed, I sent a message on the whatsap convo, so they could know that I landed well.
Robyn : Wasssup yall, i just landed I need to get my suite case and do some administrative stuff I think. Where do I wait for you ? Xandra : Great, @Bignasty and I are on our way. We’re are picking you near the cab area. Is that good for you ? Robyn : Perfect 🥰 I looked down at my screen and tried to not smile too wide. I know what she is doing. She is such a child. My god. Ok act normal. Try to be relaxed. I look relaxed right ? Forty minutes later, I had get back my suite case and pass counters. I put my sunglasses on, put a little bit of perfum and headed out to the cab zone.
I stoped as I looked at my screen. To be honest I am myopic and I don’t often were my regular glasses. It’s bad I know. So at this point they’re goin to find me. I start to tap a message when I eared my name. « Rob ! » Alex shooted I turned my head and saw her few steps from me. I let my finger run through my hair so they can look good when I arrive. I usually do that when I’m stressed. The more I stepped closer to her, the more i walked like a pimp as I remove my glasses eying her goofly. « You’re so dumb » she said pulling me into a tight hug « Wassup baby » « No you wassup LA girl » « I’m good » She turned over and point me THIS guy saying
« Florian this is Robyn, Robyn this is Florian » I putted my hair back my ear when I look at him. Stop doing this Rob. My tongue twisted inside my mouth when I finally find the courage to look at him. He was... BIG does man like that exists in real life ? « Ayo wassup » he said with a smile and nobbing his head Omg bscsxqgsvsh. He got this voice. «You good ?» I ask trying to make my voice being normal He smiled and nobbed his head again «Nice to meet you Robyn » he pulled his right hand towards me I couldn’t hold it anymore I’m sorry. I smiled hard and shook his hand back « Nice to meet you Florian » Okay how his hand can be this big and this soft. This is too much to handle. Is it me or it’s getting hot in here. Damn it felt like a heat weave. Calm down baby. It’s just a man. Remember ? Men are trash. Don’t you forget that. Put yourself first. I was really holding myself at this point. I don’t like to act to joyfully so people think I’m a easy girl or they can laugh with me. I’m a poker face girl when I’m not near my friend. A man can not destabilized me like an high school girl. Put yourself together Robyn « Let me help you with that » he said taking my suitcase « Thank you » i replied. As he went to the truck I turned back to Alexandra seeing her making stupid move to mimic doggy style. I raise my eyes in the air. How can I be a poker face girl with a best friend like this. We got in the car. Florian was at the driver place, put his seatbelt on and grabbed his phone. « Do you need the address ? » Alexandra asked him « Na i’m good, seatbelt on ? » he said checking on us « Oh look how sweet he is, trying to checked on us » she said looking at me rising an eyebrow He chuckled « Alexander promise me to kill me in my sleep if anything happen to you, I’m trying to enjoy my vacay not to die » « Im so in love with this guy, don’t tell him that » « Oh honey I don’t need to tell him anything both of you stink love » he said She looked back at me and made me this face. They are really in love. My bestie is living her best life and have an amazing partner. It’s all she deserves and it’s all I want for her. « So how long did you know each other ? » he asked us « We met at the middle school » I said « Yaaaas » she shooted « I was like 10 » « Yea it’s like 15 years ago » she said looking at me « That’s right » « That’s makes me feel old » « Wait how old are you ?» he said looking at me I look up at him, putting off my sunglasses. « 25, why ? » « Na just wondering » he said smiling at me « Look at the road » I told him « Yea you right » « How old are you Florian ? » Alexandra asked him « Hitting 29 soon » « Hitting 29 soon, you eared that Rob ? » « Mmmh » I answered I nobbed my head realizing how much annoying Alexandra could get. As I raise my eyes I caught Florian looking at me in the mirror. We looked at each other few seconds before he started the car. Well it’s goin to be interesting. I hugged everyone when I arrived. I was the last one of the group to arrive. So there was of course Florian,
It's been a while since we haven't seen all each others. It was just heart warming. And in a house like that ? Woaw man I'm gonna enjoy this trip. The villa was just amazing. Alexander and Alexandra showed me the house and my bedroom. Since there were three couples, David, Veronica, Florian and I were allowed to have our personal bedroom. At first I was ok to share my room with Veronica, but since there were extra rooms, I meeeean.
I settled in my bedroom. It was nice. I was really happy that it was beautiful as the pictures. Because you know sometimes people lies. I decided to put my swimsuit on since everyone was enjoying the pool waiting for me. I looked at myself in the mirror and blame myself for not being diligent to my workout plan but happy that the last one I have worked on had pay. I took my towel and put on my glasses. I went down the stairs and went to the kitchen. Man I was thirthy. I opened the fridge and found it empty. I pouted my mouth, sad to find nothing. I think we will have to go to the grocery store, at least for water and breakfast, when someone told me « Lookin for something ? » I turned back and saw Florian. Shirtless. I mean in his swimtruck. Of course he was shirtless. Am I supposed to act like I'm not impressioned of how huge he is. Because it going to be very hard. I put my hand on my chest and told him « You scared me » « I'm sorry, it's ok I don't bite » he chukled « Yeaaa » I said puting my hand in my hair, damn Rob stop doing this ! « I was looking for water actually, I'm super thirsty » « Oh yea we didn't get supplies yet, but I got you » He left the kitchen area and came back with a water bottle « Here you go » « Thank you » « You’re welcome » he said leaving the kitchen I took a glass and serve myself. We never know, if someone wants to drink later. I drank, washed the glass and went to the back of the house, where everyone was. As I step out I eared girls hyping me up « Damn Rob, you look good » Eve said « Look at this skin, melanin popin sis » Alexandra continue « Ma' can I have your number ? » Veronica joked I started catwalk acting like I'm queen Campbell, then started laughing with them. I layed my towel on the chair and laydown. We chit chat a little when I thought that something was wrong. So I asked them « Mmmmh guys, nothin is bothering you ? » Everyone looked at me like a weirdo « Wassup » Michael asked « What do you mean ? » Eve looked at me « I mean NOTHING is bothering you AT ALL ?! » I said twisting my face « Rob split it out » Michael said I went to bedroom, took my speaker, shaking my head like those folks are really out there without music. I turned on the music and went back to the back of the house dancing 🎧 Snack - Mrs Banks Everyone started vibing on the sound. Like come on guys, Mexico, Tulum, Villa, Pool and no music ? I mean I'm a poker face girl but god I love to party. Good vibe only you know ? I settled back on my laying chair and let the music go. Sun was carresing my skin, there were a little breeze it was just perfect. Few moments later, I put down my sunglasses and decided to go in the water. You have to know that I'm the weakess girl on earth to enter in a pool. I mean that shit it's cooooold. I started to went down the stairs slowly, like very slowly when Alexandra made fun of me « You're such a child, just jump in it » « Never ! » « Man it's not even cold » « Yea the water is good, don't worry » Florian said enjoying the water « The water is good ?! » I said laughing « Look at me I have chicken skin already » He step clother to me and propose me his hand « Come on I got you » I looked at him shyly. Not only because I found that he was really nice to me since I arrived but also because I could feel Alexandra eying us. What a bitch. I took his hand and felt him pushing me closer in the water. I squeezed his hand « Yoooooo it's cold chill out » I screamed « Come on Robyn, when your lap is on then the rest is easier » he told me I kept my breath and step closer in the water closing my eyes. The water level was now in the middle of my breath. When I opened them back I found Florian slowly laughin rubing his eyes and then look Alexandra. « I told you, she is a drama queen » Alexandra said --- We were enjoyin the pool. The spot was just feeling to good. I was talking to Veronica. She seemed to be a really nice person. She was actually leaving in LA but also travelled a lot. So she proposed me to hang out if I need to discover LA later. Well it wasn't an offer that I will declined. Suddently I eared my stomach made some noises. I was starving. I excused myself and stood up from the pool's corner. I grabbed my phone and turned the music off. « Yooooo ! » everyone shooted « Yoooo to youselves. We need to talk » I said wrapping my towel around my body « Everyone come closer please » « Your so annoying » Michael told me « Oh really I am ? » « You are » je said crossing his arms « Well I hope you will not be hungry for the next six days because I wanted to make a point on food » « Well if I think harder you're not that annoying » he said uncrossing his arms We laughed and started to make a list about what we wanted to eat. We decided that we will buy food for breakfast and for two nights. Even if we knew we wanted to eat outside , we knew that we will be to tired to go out at least two nights. I made the list on my note and propose myself to go buy it. I know it can be weird but I like make groceries shooping. I also thought that we don't have to all go so I asked who wanted to come with me. Alexandra, Alexander and Florian were down for it so we went to our rooms to put some clothes on ourselves. I put a dress, small shoes and wait them on the living room.
Alexandra came sit next to me. I put my head on her shouder. She took my hand and carressed it with her thumb. « He is nice, isn't he ? »She said sofly « Who ? » I knew who she was talking about « Girl you know who I'm talking about » « Yeaaa » I chuckled a little « I did'nt really talked to him » « I know, but he seems to talk to you later, I mean he started the conversation right ? » « Yea » I munbled « So it's your turn now, at least get to know him » « I don't want to » I wispered « Rob » she said softly looking at me I couldn't look at her back. Man to be honest with you, men scared me. They scared the well out of me. Even if Florian was the most good looking man I have met since years, I wasn't ready to risk to be down as I was few months ago. He is nice and hot so of course I'm goin to answer him, but girl I just don't feel it. I’m gon try but I don’t want to trip over it. Like I’m goin to get a potential friend. A really hot one but yea a friend. I have plenty so it don’t have to be difficult with him. Her shoulders went down a little and squeezed my hand « Ok baby, it's ok, if you don't feel it you don't have to, I didn't want to push you that way » « It's ok » « Ready girls ? » Alexander asked followed by Florian « Yes let's go » Alexandra answered She set up and picked his lips while Florian opened the front door. We went to the car an headed to the store. When we arrived at the store we splited in two groups and started to grab what we needed. Florian was pushing the cart behind me. I found myself twisting my mouth trying to find something to tell him that not sounds stupid. « So how long do you live in LA ? » i questioned « It's been like 4 or 5 years » « Mh, where were you before that ? » « Munich » « Oh really ? »I snapped back « Yup » « It explains your accent » « Yea it is hard to hide » « You're not really trying to hide it right ? » « Na I'm proud of where I'm from » « That's what I like to ear » « What about you ? » « What about me ? » « You moved to LA few weeks ago, right ? » « That's right, one week to be precise. » « Newbie. » « Yeaaaa kind of » « In what suburbs do you live in ? » « Bel air » « Oh yeah ? » he asked « Yea, where do you live ? » « Brentwood » « Oh so we're close, I'm few streets far from Brentwood » « I could show you cool spots » he said coming help me to grab something I was trying to catch « Yea at one condition » I said trying to grab what he was handing me « What is it ? » he said stepping back preventing me to take what he was handing me few seconds ago « It has to be good food spots » I said putting my hands on my hips « It is very good food spots » he said smiling and finally giving me the supply « Yea you better, because food is the love of my life » I kept walking when I felt that he wasn't near anymore. I turned back to see him. He had a weird smile on his face and seemed to look at the lower part of my body. « You're a greedy girl ? » he said with a lower voice Our eyes caught each other. A heat weave hitted my cheeks. In my head the nasty me was twerking and whining everywhere. The chill me was telling me to act normal and stay focused. « Kind of » I say raising my hands like it's not my fault « Yea, if you like food we're gon get along » I smiled at him and turned back to reach the point we choose with Alexandra and Alexander to meet up. We paid, put supplies in the truck and headed house. When we arrived the other part of the group took care of what we bought. I found Alexandra and Alexander in the middle of a heated kiss and go upstairs. I chukled a little when Florian asked me « I wanted to go look for something in my bedroom, you think I should wait ? » I laughed, I think he saw the same thing. I look upstairs and then back at him. « Na you can go, it seems to be a big house, you’re not going to ear them. Mhhh your room is close to their ? » « No I think mine is close to yours actually » he said with a smirk « Well, you’re a BIG boy » I said tapping his arm «I’m sure you can do it » I passed by him when he caught my wrist « I need extra hands, can you come with me ? » « To what ? » We were close and to be honest it didn’t bothered me. It was pretty nice to look at a piece of art that close. « I want to take my shisha » « You took your shisha ?» « Yeeea, do like it ? » « I mean I don’t smoke it often, and I wanted go cook something, I’m starving » « Look, you come with me take the shisha, and then I help you in the kitchen, deal ? » he said deal but he already took me near the stairs. I wasn’t going to protest. It would be ridiculous. We went upstairs and his grip to my wrist turned to a lock to my hand. I know I already said it but his hands like woaw. We arrived to his room and I left his hand waiting for him at the frame of the door. His room what cute. It wasn’t made like mine but it was cute. He step down to his suite case and put parts of the shisha on the ground. He took few seconds and look at me. « you can come in » he said smiling « Thank you » I said stepping foward « You wanted to wait out ? » « I mean it’s your room, I didn’t wanted to take over your space » I entered slowly in his room and sited on the edge of the bed « What taste should I take ? Mint, caramel, cherry, pineapple- « Take them all » He looked back at me as he raise an eyebrow « Take them all so you don’t have to keep looking for them here up in here» « Smart above all » he said with a smirk « here, give me the flavors so I don’t break anything » « You’re clumsy ? » he questioned giving me the flavors « When I was little, I used to be called Mrs Clumzyn » « Like a mix of clusmy and Robyn ? » « Yes sir « i said heading out « Well good to know » he said laughing He took the shisha parts and we went downstairs. We settled in the kitchen. I started chop vegetables and cooked beef meat since I wanted to make tacos. Quick and tasty. We kept talking to each others. Everybody but Alexandra and Alexander join us in the kitchen area few moments laters. I mean they smelt food so 🤣. It was really nice to have them. I talked to the one I really knew to see what’s popin in their life. We haven’t be reunieted like that since ages so it was the perfect moment. I was the youngest in the group and you know when you pass the 25 yo, your life change in many maniers and so quickly. During this time I also learn a bit about the ones I didn’t really know. As we end eating, Alexandra and Alexender joined us back. « So what’s popin tonight ? » Alexandra asked us « We’re getting lit baby !» I shooted « Yeeeeea that’s the Robyn I like to ear » Michael high five me « Rio should called me in a moment, he said he knows a club where we can enjoy our first night » Raymond said grabbing his phone « Rio ? Rio ? » I looked at him « You know many Rio ? » « Like BABY RIO ? » « Yea man » « I didn’t know he was here ! » I said bouncing my shoulders happy that Rio will be here. « Wait will he be here, like with us tonight ? » I questioned « Not all the night but he will make us enter » he answered « Who is he » Florian asked blowing some smoke « My cousin » Raymond said He nobbed his head and watch me stood up, always dancing. Alexandra saw him watch me and told him that I was this happy because we used to dance together. I watched him and told him that it was my Latino Chris Brown. I left the kitchen and came back a little after with little cards in my hands. « Siiiiince we don’t know this place, I made little cards with all our numbers on it » I handed cards to everyone « you can use them if you get lost or if you black out or I don’t know » « Here you go again Mrs Annoying » Michael said « Thank you mama » Eve « Thank me later when you will find yourself not in Mexico and with your died phone. » I looked at Eve « at least someone is grateful » I stepped at the end of the table and said « please make sure your phone is totally charged before we leave, save the number of everyone in this room in your repertory because if you don’t have internet you can not reach to the numbers on whatsap, take your external charger if you have one and I think it’s all » « Oh really ? » Michael asked sarcastically « Wait no, who drive tonight ? » « I do » Florian said « Great, who else ? » The others looked at me like « Naaaa not me » « Come on guys, we will switch all week » I told « Then you should » Raymond said with a smirk I looked at him. The audacity. « You know what. I will » I answered back looking at him « Perfect, I will take shoots for you honey » I raise my middle finger at him. When I felt a large hand on the lower part of my back « Don’t worry, we will enjoy ourselves while they pass out » Florian said He was a tactile man. For sure. It was pleasing. Akward for someone I met few hours ago but pleasing. Without paying attention I found myself nobbing, putting my head on his chest and rubbing his forearm. WHY THAT FUCK I DID THAT ? —- 🎧 Vex Oh - Kaytranada I step out the shower entered in my room finding Alexandra in my bed. I put my hand on my chest and kept one underneath my breath so my towel doesn’t fall. Eyes closed I breath out « Did I scared you ? » she asked « You did. » i said closing the door « You’re such a coward » « I know, you know, everyone knows, then what 🤣 » « Guuuurl i saw your outfit for tonight » she said grabbing the fabric of the clothes I put on my bed before leaving for the bathroom « it’s hooooot » « You told me to take sexy stuff, but I already did » « You sure you don’t wanna let them legs out ? » « Na Im scared to get cold » « Girl we’re in Mexico « « So what ? And let’s start slowly ok ? I don’t want people to have an heart attack. What are you wearing tonight, since I found you in my bed ass naked » « I’m not naked don’t you see that robe ? It’s satin. And I don’t know I’m waiting to see what Xander is wearing so I can match his outfit. » I looked at her smirking « what ? I want those latinas to know that he is NOT in the game anymore » I laughed « anyway I just came to checked on you about you know, the big boy just in front your room » « Did you tell him to take this room on purspose ? » I asked her clothing myself « It didn’t seemed bothered » I chuckled « did you hugged him in the kitchen or did I dreamed » I raise my head and look at her trough the mirror « Honestly I don’t know why I did that. » she looked back at me « I know, I say something and I do another but he is nice I think I didn’t wanted to be rude. » She stepped closer and rubbed my shoulders « Robyn. Look. You’re on vacation. You don’t owe anyone explanation even me. If you want to do something. Do it. If you don’t want. Don’t. But please do not overthink. Enjoy. You deserve it » I patted her hand on my shoulder and thanked her. She left ready to get finally dressed. I finished to get dressed and grabbed my phone to put some music to vibe while I will do my make up.

I saw that it was nearly 8pm. We were supposed to leave the villa at 9 so I was ok on the timing. I was ending baking my face when someone knocked at my door. I shooted to comin when I saw Rio.

I screamed and jumped on his arms. Maaaan it was good to see him. He had a wide smile and started to laugh. I asked what was funny « What are you cooking on your face ? » « We say baking and not cooking, with your silly ass » I said hitting his shoulder « I missed you » « I missed you more » he said moving his head a little « Sit » I pointed my bed and went back to the desk where I was doing my make up « where have you been ? » «Here and there » « Where exactly ? » I said looking back at him « Toronto, Miami, Atlanta, Chicago-« « Well ok superstar » I said laughing « I saw your ig man your classes looked lit, you’re really doing this » « Yea, you still dancing for mmmh Theophilus ? » he questioned with an eyebrow raised « Theo his name is Theo » « Yea whathever, you still dancing at this club ? » « No I moved actually » « Oh really ? Where ? When ? » « LA, a week ago » « Good, good, so you left your sugar daddy ?» he said laughing « he wasn’t my sugar daddy ! I already told you that « I said laughing back « My ass ! So who is the lucky one downstairs ? » « What you’re talking about ? » « There are only couple here right ? It’s like a couple’s trip ? Who is your boyfriend ? » « It’s not a couple’s trip » I said putting my last lashes on « Alrigh... I mean I would be happy to learn that you found someone who makes you happy after what Leo did to you » I moved my shoulders like it wasn’t a big deal when my someone knocked at the door. It wasn’t closed. I turned back and saw Florian. I really felt like ovaries blowed. He was just stunning. He has a white shirt, slightly open so I could notice his gold chain, white a black short and some white sneakers. So simple but man on him, it was just I opened my mouth slowly to take a breath when he excused himself to interrupted us but we needed to go otherwise we will be late for the place we booked for dinner. I told him that I had finished and that we arrive in few minutes when he left. I turned back at the mirror, checked my make up one last time I took my regular glasses so I can drive and my purse so Rio and I could leave my bedroom. When we arrived downstairs everyone was just fierce, outfit onfleek. I begged them for a group pictures because I just knew that a the end of the night we will not look good at right now. They finally aggreed, we took few pictures and went to the restaurant. —- When we arrived at the restaurant, a friend of Raymond and Rio joined us. So we were back to a pair number. We settled to a table. Alexandra was at my right, Florian at my left and Rio was in front of me. Thanks to the spanish skills of Xandra and her bright smiled, the waiter didn’t went to hard on us for our lateness. The view was just amazing. I think this is my first trip where every spot is breathtaking. « It’s beautiful right ? » Florian asked me while putting a arm on the top of my chair « Yea, I was just thinking of this » I turned back my head watching him watching me with a little smile « What again ? » i said smiling « What do you mean again ? » he said laughing « You’re always making fun of me » « That’s not true, I just found you’re cute with your glasses » Oh snap i forgot that I still have my glasses on. I don’t like wearing them I think it changes my face. But I just can’t do contact. I’m a coward as I told you. I took off my glasses and put them on my purse « Hey I said you look cute with them, why are you taking them me off « he said softly « I rather not to have them » I said on the same tone « You look beautiful anyway » he said rubbing his lips index « Well thank you, you look handsome yourself Florian » I said patting his lap while sipping my spirkling water. The dinner was tasty. There was food in abundance and the vibe was just light. I found Florian hand gripped/carressed slightly my back sometimes. It made me slide to my left slide and rubbed my thumb on his right thigh. You know I’m just used to give back the softness he was giving to me. We talked about how he knew Alexander since he is te only person he is related to. About his last trip in Santorini. While he was telling me about it, the only think I could think about was all this pictures shirtless on his IG. I mean how can you erase them from your mind. As we finished to eat, we decided to headed to the club Rio was supposed to make us in. We just can’t wait to party hard. We went to the cashier and paid. As I waited for the others to pay Rio came I front of me, watching me
« No boyfriend hun ? » « Yeaaaaaa... » i said looking for my glasses I need them to drive. « Oh and all these carress during dinner with big boy ? » he said looking at Florian then back at me « We met today, come on, he is nice and he only knows Alexander » « So many reasons to have his dick sucked » I opened my mouth and clothed my mouth, in choke. He just has no filter. Not only one. « Just be careful ok ? » he said heading to the exit of the restaurant We settled in the area Rio found us. The bass was feeding my body. I love this feeling so much. It made me want to bounce everywhere. Ok i could not drink but it will not prevent me to enjoy my first night. Waiters came drop bottles at our table when Rio tapped on one waiter’s shoulder I said something in his ear. I couldn’t ear what he said because the music was loud. He stepped close to me, leaned and told me that he asked soft for drivers. I thanked him and lean over Florian who was now at my right to tell him. He moved his head and nobbed toward Rio to thank him. When our drinks arrived we could finally cheered up and start partying. The night was crazy. The DJ was crazy, I kept switching on good songs of all types, reggaton, rnb, afro, brand new and timeless classics, bangers only. I thought that I might get crazy by the end of the night. I danced with the girls, with Rio before he left and then came back to our table. Before I could reach our area there was a buch of girls, of all type, wiggling hard. I finally pass them when I saw Florian, alone, on his phone and smoking shisha. I set close to him as he put his arm back my waist, wrapping it a little without leaving is phone. I stepped closer to him and asked him what was the taste. He finally looked up at me and asked me to try. I put the end in my mouth and try to identify the taste. « Blueberry ? » i asked « Iced » he told me showing me his screen I looked at it and saw my Ig account with the button « waiting » « Are you going to make me wait a long time ? » he said smiling I smiled shyly back and took my phone. I went on Ig and accept him. I questioned him if he was happy and he nobbed proud of himself. I shook my head and told him « What do we do about your harem ? » He step back and watch me with frowned eyebrows. He had no idea of what I was talking about. I smiled and pointed at the woman’s group in front of us. All of her watching Florian with lust. I swear I could ear their prayers for him to just put an eye on her. He watched them, then back at me and smiled shyly shaking his head. « You’re goin to tell me that not one of them is your type ? » i asked « They’re all beautiful » « But ? » « But not interested » « What you need like a model or something ? » I said playfully « Naaaa » he sais before smoking « I need loyalty. » Since there his tone was matching mine. Very light. But the last sentence he said was serious. I could feel it the way his body language shift. I looked back at the girls and nobbed my head thinking about he just say. Loyalty is so rare those days. Everything happens so quickly and end so quickly. For a yes or a no a relationship can be twisted. People can be fake and act like you interest them but they just looking for their own benefit. Loyalty was definitely criteria We stay silent a little when I asked him « So you’re just goin to be sit here all night ? You’re not goin to dance at least on one music » He laughed a little and started bouncing his shoulders like it’s going to be enough. As I watch him and hyped him up so he can be confortable the DJ switch the music 🎧 BamBam - Chaka Demus & Piliers When I recognized the song I started raising slowly, took his hand and whispered him that he couldn’t let me dance on this song alone. He stood up and rubbed his face softly with his free hand. The smile on his face bretrayed him. He knew the song and seemed happy at this moment. I started moving my hips sensually on the rythym. Surprisly I found him following me without too much difficulties. Okkkkkk he got some moves okruuuu. As the music was jamming he slowly put his hand on my hips, step closer and turned me back. As I turned I started to laugh at myself. I was goin to grinded on him hard. It was so ridiculous because I was playing with the fire but damn it felt so good. My back was on his chest. I felt wrapped and I really didn’t want to let go. I think he was feeling the same way because I felt his head stuffed in my neck. I bitted my lips when I felt his breath and his beard on my burnin skin.
I was fucked up —— Wassup guys How do you feel about chapter two ? Do not hesitate to give me feedbacks, react and all that stuff Take care

Hey has anyone asked you yet about the time you got to meet the Mclaren team? If not, I'd love to know about it more!!
oH WOW.
I wasn’t expecting this.
Well, I’m watching a 24hrs race with 11 hours to go, I might as well take the time to write this down. Sit down and get ready to read a lot of text. Seriously it’s a lot of text. I’m sorry but this story took part in about 4 or 5 hours so a lot happened.
So the story has a little bit of background. I’m kinda vocal in Twitter. Not as much as the Papaya McLaren+ members, but somewhat vocal, specially around McLaren. The every weekend wishing the best for my babies, and such. Also, in 2017, I got to meet Stoffel and Fernando at the pitlane walk thing in the Mexican GP. Even appeared in Fernando’s Instagram Stories AND on the worldwide feed because I was the only Mexican with a Belgian flag cheering for Stoffel. So after that I told the team I was going to be back the following year and I did. For extra context, I had literally 48 hours earlier, broken up with my boyfriend at the time (fuck that guy), so I was really really sad.
So the morning of Thursday before the 2018 Mexican GP, I jump into a plane and take the trip to Mexico City for the GP. I didn’t had a pitlane walk ticket but I was planning on going to the race track and buy one (illegally) outside. So I land, or well, the plane lands, and when I turn my phone on again I find a really surprising message. From McLaren’s official Twitter, I got a DM asking me if I had plans on going to the racetrack that day. For context, I had told the team I was excited to see them on action that weekend. So I said that I still hadn’t a pitlane ticket but that I was looking to buy one. I went to my hotel and then to have breakfast and while I was having a meal, I get a second text asking me if I could meet them up in a door of the racetrack, that they had a gift for me and give me a WhatsApp number to stay in touch. WhatsApp number is British, I don’t know how to save it up because my phone kept putting the Mexican first few numbers as I tried to send message to them, it was an stressful mess but when it finally worked, I was already outside of the racetrack. I met a guy, Danny, and when we meet he gives me a paddock pass. I’m freaking out. On the walk past security and all of that, we are chatting. He’s such a nice guy. I still have his phone number but I don’t dare to text him again. He explains I do have to give the pass back at the end of the day and teaches me to use it and then says Go and see the full paddock, let’s meet up here in 20 minutes. So I have plenty of videos seeing everything. Saw Mauricio Arrivabene, KMag, Romain, Charles, Russell, Gio, and a lot of drivers up close, but they were busy with interviews and I didn’t wanted to disturb them. 20 minutes are up and I meet up with Danny and two other men who I can’t remember their names. That’s when we are talked into the McLaren pit. They explained a lot to us, and the cars were being worked on so we could see the engines up close and many other amazing little details. We walk out again and that’s when we are told. They are also giving us a Pirelli Hot Lap. I cried. No joke. We were walked over the Pirelli Hot Laps place and got to see the cars up close, tried a helmet, met my driver (Josh Cook) and I was eating my brain off. Eventually it’s time to go. We walk the main straight to where the cars were waiting for us, and met Charlotte and Helen (PR girls of McLaren at the time), I got the second to last lap in a McLaren 570s, so as the cars came and went I got more and more anxious. They did delivered me a copy of the video that was filmed but I don’t appear in the Mexican clip they published in their YouTube Channel. And I never published it myself. But if you have seen the “Oh, you drivin’ drivin’” it’s pretty much the same. Going side to side. At times yelling but mostly silence of “holy shit this is happening”. When I got off the car I was shaking. Huge smile in my face. Asked for a pic with Charlotte and Helen, and now I wish I had asked pictures with Danny and Josh as they were super special for me that day.
So this is where things get weird. Have you ever dreamt of something so much that you have a headcanon on how it’s going to be if something happens?? Well, I had a headcanon that I met Stoffel Vandoorne and in my headcanon I turned around to face his adorable smile. First time, that didn’t happen. This time around, we got invited to McLaren’s hospitality, got a free coke, Fernando was there but he didn’t wanted to even wave. He was in a chat with Buemi in the corner of the hospitality and Charlotte and Helen didn’t even made eye contact with him, it was clear to me that he has like “do not disturb” moments. So I was driving my coke and I hear one of the guys say “Oh the girl is going to freak out so much” and well, I was the girl, and I was wearing my 2018 team shirt with Stoffel’s name. So I was chilling and suddenly I hear a “Hi!” and I know that voice. I’ve heard that voice a million times in interviews. I leave my coke in the table and stand up to turn around and see him. Stoffel Vandoorne. I turn around again and sit down because this is not happening. This is a dream. I probably passed out and I’m dreaming. Charlotte asks “Are you ok?” and I know she’s talking about me. I turn again to face Stoffel and tears are in my eyes. It’s really him. And he has that stupid smile in his face. I can barely say “Hi” and my voice cracks but I’m trying my best to not cry. I raise my arm to shake his hand as Stoffel says “Don’t you want a hug?”, I crack again and just approach to hug him. IT IS THE BEST HUG IN MY LIFE. I can’t tell you what he’s smelled like because my definition is just clean. I didn’t smelled a cologne or sweat, I just smelt clean clothes and a clean man. We got a few pictures taken. On the first Lando is in the background, all funny, and we invite them to our picture. He stood on the side of the group and one of the other guys says “Why don’t you stand in the side of the girl, so she can have a McSandwich”. Best McSandwich ever. Stoffel had to leave (to track walk, I believe) and Lando stayed chatting with us for a while. When he finally left, we were invited for one last walk around the paddock. Even got into the stadium area of the circuit. And then it was time to leave. On the walk back to the main door where it all started I asked Danny why me? Why had they invited me? He said that he had noticed my tweets beforehand but the fact that I had tweeted to Lando saying I was excited to see him in FP1, and he retweeted me, was the reason why I got the invite. So, my dream way of meeting Stoffel Vandoorne became a reality thanks to Lando Norris and his really cute way of being with his fans.
As soon as I gave the pass away, I started to run. I was on the opposite side of the circuit than the pitlane walk door. So I ran, bought a ticket, ran some more, and pushed myself to the front of the crowd to meet Stoffel again. Yeah, I’m that crazy. So Charlotte sees me and says “Hey, look who it is Stoffel!” and Stoffel sees me and he’s like HI AGAIN! so HE FUCKING RECOGNIZED ME. So I chat with Charlotte a bit and say that I forgot to ask for an autograph so as Stoffel is signing one, and hands it to me, she says, “give her more”, so Stoff signed 2 more and handed them over. I told him I was going to miss him in F1 but that he had my support wherever he went, and he said thanks and carried on with his duty before leaving. I stayed there, as people left when they realised there were no drivers to sign cards, until I was told I had to leave. Prior to this, I met Lee Mathurin (a McLaren mechanic who I just discovered he has deleted his Twitter account, and I’m scared) and asked for a picture with him and other mechanics (he chicked out in coming to meet me along so he asked some friends to tag along) and as I try to snap the picture he grabs my phone and walks to the pits. He snapped a few good pictures of Stoffel’s car and the people around and came back to me to take a selfie of us. So after that, I got asked to leave by security and I rode an Uber back to my hotel room. As soon as I walked in and my mom asked “How it went?” I started crying my eyes out. That was waaay beyond what I had ever dreamt about. I was coming there still crying about my ex (I literally cried about him on the plane) and I started crying about how lucky and happy I was 12 hours later. McLaren, unknowing to them, made my life experience something I could never afford, in a moment when I most needed it. I couldn’t attend to the 2019 race and I’m not going to the 2020 race either, but I couldn’t ask for a better and happier day in my life. I truly owe that day forever to that team.

DAYS 43-49

DAY FORTY-THREE
7:30 AM - Up a little early so I can close on my house. The process is pretty easy and I feel safe about it and such. We do it on the front porch with 6 foot folding table.
8:30 AM - I need to re-caulk the side door trim before I can start painting so I do that while I make my chemex. This is fun (not) because I don’t own a caulk gun.
10:30 AM - Eat a plant yogurt
12:00 PM - Snack on chips and salsa – damn the salsa I made is so good this time. Also make salad for lunch. I’m set up in the kitchen today which is clearly a bad scene because I keep going to the pantry for more snacks. Relocate to the bedroom.
2:00 PM - I really should get my barre class out of the way today. I have a 4PM happy hour and I know I won’t want to work out after that, so I do a 10 minute low impact ride and then start class.
4:00 PM - I get done with most of the class and hop on zoom. Make refried beans in the instant pot for dinner while we chat.
5:00 PM - Finish the zoom and knock out the last 10 minutes of barre. I don’t like to split the classes up like that but oh well.
6:00 PM - Finish making the beans as well as rice and jackfruit for burritos. K isn’t hungry so I watch an episode of The Challenge before making the burritos.
7:30 PM - Ok these are really good. Dang! I don’t want to drink tonight so I open a La Croix and try to hydrate.
DAY FORTY-THREE TOTAL: $0
DAY FORTY-FOUR
8:00 AM - I’m awake and I feel really good. K is still pretty conked out and I get the idea to go to Cartel. I haven’t been in a few months because cases were super high but now seems like a good opportunity. This is the one thing I do behind K’s back. It’s contactless and it’s super safe so I don’t really consider it to be a risk but I know he isn’t ready to drink things directly out of containers they’re served in on the same day you buy them so let’s just leave this between us. Buy a hot oat milk latte and tip $10. $17.57
10:00 AM - Make a chemex so K doesn’t suspect anything. Hang with him on the couch for a bit and then start moving around the furniture in the kitchen to start taping.
11:30 AM - Take a break to cook breakfast - tofu/egg tacos with field roast sausage.
12:15 PM - Back to taping. It takes forev, but I think I did a good job.
3:45 PM - First coat done. Watch an episode of The challenge before I apply the second.
5:30 PM - Done with the second. Watch more of the challenge.
7:00 PM - Dinner tonight is pozole. I take my time making it and drink a glass of wine while I cook.
8:00 PM - Dang this is so delicious.
DAY FORTY-FOUR TOTAL: $17.57
DAY FORTY-FIVE
9:00 AM - Woah I am SO SORE. What the hell? My quads. Make a chemex and work on putting the kitchen back together, but I run out of time and have to meet with S and her BF on zoom. K joins me and it’s a really good time.
11:15 PM - Ok back to tape removal.
12:15 PM - Done! / Looks good! Make more tofu tacos for breakfast.
2:00 PM - My boss is applying for citizenship in the US and she asked me to help build her a website. I have totally spaced it over the past two weeks and get cracking on it today. Make some good progress and send her what I have.
4:00 PM - Watch some episodes of The Challenge. For whatever reason this feels like the first time I’ve actually relaxed this weekend and I am here for it.
6:00 PM - We drive to a bar I DJ at on the reg during non-pandemic times to do a pick up of their Valentine’s Day special. Neither K or I are big V Day fans and we feel like this is good enough to “celebrate.” We get two veggie dogs, fries and a bottle of wine to take home. J (my friend who owns the bar) runs my card for $31ish and I tip $20. K insists he pays and he venmos me $50. $1.89
7:00 PM - I haven’t had fries in like… a year. And these ones are really delicious! The wine is good too. Spend the rest of the evening catching up on my blog. I haven’t felt very motivated to work on it this month.
8:00 PM - Get a charge from Amazon… S is buying movies again. Make a venmo request for $16 and she fulfills it. $0.19
DAY FORTY-FIVE TOTAL: $2.08
DAY FORTY-SIX
8:30 AM - WOW I am still sore WTF. Make a chemex and notice my tea kettle has a rust spot. Damnit. At this point, I would rather just buy an electric kettle with a gooseneck spout to get rid of both of my kettles, but I’m trying to stick to my budget this month. I’ve been covering K’s groceries throughout the pandemic and he owes me around $2k at this point. Because of this, I’ve kind of cut back on clothing and other frivolous purchases until he starts to pay me back so I can still save money every month. But rust is rust and I don’t want to get sick. Buy a Stagg EKG kettle with a nice wood handle. $160.62
10:00 AM - plant yogurt, a clementine and Pure Barre weekly charge. $15
12:00 PM - It’s salad time but I’m kind of out of tempeh and am a little burnt out on the miso Asian vibe anyways. Toss together some greens, bell pepper, onion, carrots, snap peas, cucumber, and a frozen Quorn spicy chicken patty and top it with cashew ranch. It’s honestly really good.
4:00 PM - Call M to wish him a happy bday. Tell him either next Sunday or the Sunday after that we will do a lunch thing together in his backyard to celebrate. Drink a nuun while we chat.
5:15 PM - I do a pure barre workout but make the mistake of doing it on my work computer at the post-workday slacks are coming in hot this AM. My body’s HR doesn’t really pick up but I still feel proud of myself for pushing thru the soreness.
7:00 PM - K and I eat big burritos for dinner with jackfruit, beans, rice, lettuce, tofutti sour cream, cheeze, and jalapenos with chips and salsa. They’re so good and I am sad that we’re out of tortilla chips and salsa now.
8:00 PM - Since dinner was kinda big and I had fries yesterday, I spend the evening hydrating instead of drinking wine. K and I watch a 4 part docuseries on Elisa Lam & the Cecil Hotel. At some point he goes off to work on some stuff and I wrap up this website I’m building for my boss who is working on getting her green card.
DAY FORTY-SIX TOTAL: $175.62
DAY FORTY-SEVEN
9:00 AM - Make a chemex. Finish the site and send it to my boss who approves. Hopefully I don’t have to actually post it for her. I hate dealing with hosting and such.
10:00 AM - I don’t really want yogurt today and find a small portion of tofu scramble leftover from Sunday. Heat that up and top with truffle hot sauce.
12:00 PM - Kill the rest of the salad ingredients today by making the same dish as yesterday but with peas instead of red bell peppers. Review the site I made for my boss. She sends me a $100 amazon gift card! How sweet.
5:00 PM - Get sucked in a meeting and am not able to leave until 5:30. I’m not interested in exercising this late so I zone out on the couch for a bit and snack on some gf pretzels. Start a new season of The Challenge. Drink a glass of wine.
7:00 PM - Heat up leftover pozole for dinner. Eat with K while we “watch” a hockey game.
8:30 PM - Pour another glass of wine and chat on the phone with Q. I end up feeling super antsy halfway through our conversation and decide to take a walk. I do a nice loop down to the lake and back to my house. Next time we decide that we will walk together.
10:30 PM - I check my phone after our conversation to see 100 slack messages from various team members. Looks like there is something going on which will affect the report I have to give tomorrow. Read thru, ask some questions and feel good about what I have to change.
DAY FORTY-SEVEN TOTAL: $0
DAY FORTY-EIGHT
8:15 AM - Up a little early today so I can adjust my report. Make a chemex while I pull numbers.
9:30 AM - Present the info. It’s good stuff! My boss is out of town so I think today should be pretty chill. Get a note from my bank that the wire of leftover funds from the mortgage stuff has been transferred to my checking totaling $1250.39.
12:00 PM - Make broccoli fried rice for lunch. Things turn chaotic for the rest of the day and by the time I know it, it’s 4:00 PM
4:15 PM - Decide to cut out early today and take a live barre class. 20 minutes in (10 minutes before 5), I get a message from my teammate asking to hop on zoom. She has computer issues so I’m actually able to finish the class before she’s ready.
7:00 PM - Finally done working. Rinse off and make pasta for dinner. Drink 3 glasses of wine.
9:30 PM - K and I play Mario Kart for a while before turning in.
DAY FORTY-EIGHT TOTAL: $0
DAY FORTY-NINE
8:30 AM - Today has to be more chill than yesterday… It just has to be. Make a chemex. See that my hair dresser is selling shirts for her shop. Venmo her. $25
12:00 PM - Prep chicken seitan shreds. Broccoli fried rice for lunch with seltzer.
1:30 PM - Finish making the seitan, eat an apple, gf pretzels and carrots. I realize I forgot to eat breakfast this AM. Ugh.
5:00 PM - My butt is super sore from yesterday but I do my barre workout anyways. It’s so nice to not be interrupted. My cal burn is low but I don’t even care. It’s just nice to move.
6:00 PM - Rinse off and prep dinner. We make buffalo chicken sandwiches with roasted potatoes. They turn out pretty good and I’m excited to eat them over the next few days.
8:00 PM - Drink a glass of wine. I google if I can have more since I’m getting the COVID vaccine tomorrow and it seems like one is ok but maybe not more so I decide against it.
DAY FORTY-NINE TOTAL: $25

Please Assist Me (Chapter 3)
Chapter 1 Chapter 2
He said
Not long after that conversation with Alex, it was the party for my mom. Karina had insisted that Sophia and the kids come given the work she’d put into planning it and it was an informal affair with other kids coming and some entertainment laid on for them in the hotel gardens. After the meal, I caught up with Sophia as she needed to go through some travel requirements with me. Once that was sorted out, the conversation turned to some books she’d ordered for me and how I was getting on with them.
“So how’s the Dostoevsky?” she asked
“Oh I’m not onto that yet, I’ve read it before but I lost my copy. I thought I’d take it on the trip – something to pass the hours in the lounge and on the plane”
“Would you recommend it? I’ve not read any of his before”
“Oh yeah, it’s amazing, the characters are so real – it’s kind of dense, you know, but worth the effort. What do you like to read?”
“Oh well, I don’t read enough. It’s hard to find time with the kids - Javier really didn’t like me reading either”
“What! Why?”
“Oh because once I start I can’t stop! You know if we were on holiday and I took a book, I’d just be, poor company I guess and he doesn’t read – not fiction anyway so, I guess it was one of the many things we didn’t agree on!”
“Well that’s his loss! So you never said, what you like I mean”
“Oh, classics I guess like Jane Austen and Hardy. And some new stuff – you know, thrillers like “Gone Girl” and I did just read a new book, the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, “The Testaments”
“Oh right, good?”
“yeah really good – just as disturbing as the first but also a gripping tale, almost an adventure really, you know wondering what will become of each character you follow”
We carried on talking books and screen adaptations. It was really the first time we’d talked about something other than her work tasks and I enjoyed it. It got my thoughts drifting back to what Alex had said.
The trip I was going on was in New York for 4 days - it was a casting trip where I’d be meeting up with Anja, a casting director to finalise a few roles for a future project.
We had fun and the casting was successful. I enjoyed Anja’s company and I noticed that she was being a little flirty. There was no time for more than an informal bite in New York but she grasped the bull by the horns and suggested we go out when we got back to LA.
I agreed – I guess I was trying to shake off Alex’s words and thought that maybe a relationship with her would be more appropriate than starting something with Sophia - after-all, I didn’t even know if there was a chance Sophia could like me in that way.
I couldn’t think where to go for our bite so ended up suggesting that we have a low key meal at my place. I texted Sophia, asking for help again with the prep though I can’t deny feeling a certain awkwardness about doing that after what Alex had said about my possible feelings for her.
After the casting trip, I arrived back home from New York in the early hours of Friday, earlier than I’d planned and headed straight for bed. I’d hopefully be able to thank Sophia later when she came over with the groceries that I needed for the meal the next day.
She Said
I remember when things started to get complicated in my heart. We’d had such a nice chat about books at his mum’s party and he’d given me a hug to thank me for my efforts on his behalf with sorting all the arrangements. By now, I definitely felt like he was a friend as well as my boss.
Shortly after the party, Keanu went to New York to do some casting sessions. I got a text from him the day before his planned return asking for some help with another dinner. He didn’t say who was coming which led me to believe it must be a woman. For the other meals I had helped him with he’d always made a point to say who the guests were (how many, their names etc) Maybe it was the casting lady from the trip – he’d said she was also based in LA.
My feelings were unnameable - at least I didn’t want to name them as they made me ashamed. There was a mix of the protective in there but also jealousy for sure. I scolded myself for my crazy feelings.
It only got worse when I went to the house to make sure everything was fine there, feed the fish etc. There were some clothes on a clothes airer in the kitchen that I’d thrown in the washer for him after he left. I folded them and headed to his room, opening the door without a care only to find the room in semi darkness and Keanu lying asleep on the bed. He was on his back and I was fairly sure he was naked. The sheets barely covered his modesty and I almost dropped the laundry at the sight. I turned on my heal quick as a flash to get away in case I’d disturbed him enough to wake him.
I felt hot - my thoughts flitting between wondering why he was home already and marvelling at his lovely body.
I headed back to the kitchen with the laundry pile and distracted myself by making a start on the food prep for his meal tomorrow. About an hour later a sleepy Keanu emerged, surprised to see me standing chopping onions at the island
“Sophia, I thought you were coming later. Everything OK?”
“Yeah, all fine” I reassured him “I just couldn’t get a sitter for the kids after school and I thought it would be better to get this done on my own, without the rug rats causing mayhem”
“Oh sure. I came home earlier ……….” He stated
“Yes I know” I replied a blush rising in my cheeks” and I couldn’t help but glance in the direction of the laundry pile
“There’s some laundry there for you - I didn’t want to …… disturb you by bringing it in”
I could see the flush of embarrassment rising up his neck and above his beard
“I took you by surprise didn’t I?”
“Just a bit” I chuckled and the mood relaxed a little
“Sorry” he said rubbing his chin, still blushing.
“No problem. Anyway, I’m all done now so I’ll leave you in peace. Hope your dinner goes well”
“Sure, thanks Sophia, I really appreciate it”
He Said
My dinner date with Anja went really well. She loved the food and we had a lot in common - some of our friendship and professional circles overlapped so the conversation never ran dry. There were still parts to cast for the project so I knew we’d continue to see each other, so there was time for things to develop. I actually got the distinct impression that she wouldn’t have minded if I’d made a move on her then but that wasn’t my style anymore on a first date. I’d got more cautious in my old age - at least that’s what I told myself. In retrospect, I wonder if something else was holding me back. It wasn’t like I didn’t want to get laid but as she left to get her Uber, I just went for the kiss on the cheek and we said we should arrange something else soon - probably after our next casting session in a week or so.
It was the Autumn of 2019 and things were quieter for me workwise though I started to go to the gym regularly knowing the Matrix 4 was around the corner. I didn’t need Sophia so much for household tasks but there was still some travel and for once I started to think about Christmas quite early rather than making a last minute dash to Neiman Marcus on Christmas Eve!
Sophia was once again in her element choosing gifts for my mom and sisters. She’d also built a friendship with Karina after the party for Mom so she was able to check out her ideas for Kim and Mom with her.
Things had moved along with me and Anja too - we’d had 3 or 4 dates and for the next one, I had invited her to mine again for a dinner. Once again I roped in Sophia to help me with shopping, prep and baking a pudding. She was going to bake me her fabulous brownies which I’d tried when she left me one as a little treat one day. It was in a cute little container with a post it on it saying “eat me!”
I’d returned the favour but not with food, leaving her my recently re-read copy of “The Brothers Karamazov” on the kitchen counter with a post-it saying “read me!”
Anyway, after tasting her heavenly brownie I knew it would be perfect for the meal I had planned. and she baked it at my house so it would be super-fresh, leaving the kitchen smelling enticing.
I served a simple steak for our meal with asparagus and baked Portobello mushrooms. Anja was full of praise for the main and thrilled with the brownie, closing her eyes and making yummy noises that made my groin contract and my pants tighten.
“For that you have Sophia to thank, not me!” I admitted.
“Your PA bakes for you?”
I chuckled
“Yes she is quite the multi-tasker! I basically defined the role myself so it covers many of the standard PA things and a few unique extras”
“Like what?” Anja enquired, a quizzical look on her face
As I described the things she did, Anja started laughing
“So basically, you designed the job of a 50s wife without the complication of a relationship?”
I blushed bright red at that, especially as exactly that thought had crossed my mind when I decided I needed a PA”
I held my hand up
“You caught me! Anyway, put it this way, she’s made my daily life a whole lot easier”
“Well thank her from me for the delicious brownie”
“I’ll be sure to - so shall we go through to the living room to digest?”
Anja gladly accepted and I was thrilled to be changing the subject from my 50s wife/ PA! We took our wine through and settled on the sofa, deciding to listen to some music. I invited Anja to look through my vinyl collection and pick something. She was about 10 years my junior so we hadn’t grown up with the same music - I had to describe various bands to help her pick something. It wasn’t exactly the right atmosphere for the Pixies or Ramones! She picked the Doors which was very chill - we snuggled up and I nestled my face into her hair. Slowly she tilted her neck to the side, an unspoken invitation to nibble her neck which I gladly did and soon we were kissing. We’d kissed before but this time I could feel that it was leading somewhere which was only confirmed when Anja shifted to straddle me. I grasped her ass and pulled her closer, whispering in her ear that maybe we should move things to the bedroom.
Once in the bedroom, Anja and I made short work of removing our clothes and were very soon having sex, I say that very specifically as it wasn’t making love, at least not for me. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it and she said she did too but I’ve never felt so disconnected or remote whilst having sex. Anja is beautiful too and a nice person but some level of spark was definitely lacking. I could feel myself looking ahead to my new year schedule and using the excuse of being away to put a lid on things. That made me feel shitty and ashamed.
She Said
Through November, my role continued as usual as did my regular contact with my boss as we checked off the Christmas gifts and I supported him in keeping his home running smoothly. By then, he was dating his casting agent Anja which I knew from the gossip rags as well as direct from the horse’s mouth as he’d got me to bake him my brownie for a dinner he’d had at home with her.
I wasn’t sure what to make of it really – I couldn’t put my finger on it but something seemed a bit off Maybe it was the way he talked about her or more how he didn’t. You could always tell when he was passionate about something, whether it was a book, a meal, a project and so I assumed that would carry over to people - it did with his family. Maybe he was just being guarded but, as I said, we were on very friendly terms by then so I did wonder how into her he really was.
It turned out that Karina suspected the same. We’d met up for a coffee to look at gift ideas for their mother when she brought it up.
“So what do you think’s going on with Ke and this Anja woman?”
“What?!” I spluttered, surprised that she was gossiping with me about her big brother.
“Oh you must know, you know everything” she smirked
“I do not!” I protested.
“I bet you know if she’s slept over”
I blushed as she was right. I did know. I’d seen the tell tale signs after I’d made the brownie for them - I had spotted a couple of her things left in his bathroom when putting fresh toiletries in his vanity unit in the bathroom.
I swallowed and told her what I knew.
“Let’s just say that I loaned him the book “Normal People” a few weeks back - and I don’t think he needs a book right now for satisfaction if you know what I mean!”
She nodded, grinning.
“Do you think it’s serious”
“Come on! I can’t say, I know I’ve worked for him for almost a year now but we don’t talk about that kind of stuff and I don’t know him well enough to judge”
“Oh, I think you do, if he was in love, you’d know”
“I don’t know about that!” I blushed secretly knowing she was probably right. I could read him pretty well by now.
“Well I do, I’ve seen you together, you know him now. I mean what was the first personal thing you did for him?”
“Buy Kim that coffee set, I guess”
“Yes, and when he talked about Kim, you knew right away, didn’t you?, how very much he loves her and how important it was because he talked about her with passion. I remember you telling me that and how he briefed you for my tagine and Mom’s party.
“Yeah, yes I guess you have a point”
“And how does he talk about her?”
“Like….” I pondered a few seconds “like a colleague” I admitted.
“Exactly, he’s just getting laid if you ask me and it won’t last come the new year when he’s off to San Fran”
I shrugged. It wasn’t my affair to worry about.
“Well they’re grown-ups aren’t they – hopefully neither of them will get hurt” I said glad to close the topic. I felt like I was talking out of turn even though it was with his sister.

hello, everyone! my name is leila, sometimes you’ll see me go by my alias guppy. here are some things about me: i’m 18, i live in the mountain standard timezone, my favorite color is a nice light/pastel green, my favorite video game series is just dance, and i’m going to college next year! if you’d like to talk more with me, i’m happy to give you my discord info or we can chat in the tumblr ims! enough about this gal, let’s hear about my cool girl stacy...
❝ ALL ABOUT STACY ❞ → a little biography and some stats
okay, where to begin... stacy is a wellcliff native and so is her mother, their family has been in wellcliff for a few generations now.
her mom is a big hippie and passed that off onto stacy (her middle name is meadow, like how much more down to earth can you get). this means she loves astrology, tarot cards, doing little rituals like sage cleansing and making moon water.
raised by her single mama, but always had big hopes for meeting her dad or knowing what he was like. unfortunately, her mom knows exactly who he is and he SUCKS in actuality (or that’s what he seemed like during their one-night stand :/)
she still lives with her mom in their family victorian, and like sometimes when she has a bad dream she still crawls into bed with her mom lmao
she is an amateur surfer (even though she’s been doing it her whole life, she’s only won smaller competitions and it isn’t a full time gig), her day job is wearing a little paper hat and passing out greasy hot dogs and fries to tourists on the boardwalk.
she is super chill, so chill it can get scary sometimes... if someone tries to argue with her, she’s the kind of person to take a really calm tone and not react. sometimes she’s just slow to react to things in general and her only reflexes are on the surfboard.
stacy can be... como se dice... disloyal and forgetful. she never remembers her friend’s birthdays, she will always be the one to cancel plans last minute if it means something else exciting is going on, and she also will never pay you back if you lend her $20 for lunch. she’s not doing it to be mean, it’s just the way she is.
probably hasn’t read a book since it was required by school, unless it’s her horoscope or surfing zines. she was never very academically oriented, she prefers to just take life as it is and not interrupt it with extra information like books, or even tv/movies.
uses a lot of surfer slang and her voice has that kind of surfer accent (not as deep as the turtle from finding nemo, though, lol)
she hates mushrooms, loves oysters, smells like lilac and salt water, and she loves a pair of dangly star earrings that she’s always wearing when she’s not in the water.
please come party with her because she truly is nothing but fun, living her best life, and spending her days on island time even if she’s not on an island...
❝ MAKING FRIENDS AND FOES ❞ → some possible connections
love the idea of some friends that she accidentally dissed and now they’re like... fuck off... but stacy didn’t even know she really pissed them off.
any fellow surfers? maybe cute competition between them and lots of fun days just spent running on the beach?
someone she reads tarot for or who she does astrology charts for... who gives her side money because she broke and wants to buy a new board.
other wellcliff natives who she grew up with and they know each other’s family history!
some frequenters of her hot dog stand who she sometimes gives free fries because potatoes are cheap and they bring good conversation...
idk that’s all i have off the top of my head, but i’m happy to discuss more. i also LOVE chemistry when it comes to interaction, so i might prefer just seeing how the characters talk before settling on a connection.

Semblance
Today is my birthday! And since it’s my b-day, I’ve decided to post the first chapter of a thriller-fic I’ve been working for the month of spooks and chills. For those of you who may remember, a few years back I did a poll of which fics I should work on in order. One of those prompts was given the working title of ‘Blackwoods’, this is it but with a new name and some changes done to it. I know I’m supposed to work on my other fics (GWE, Glass Slipper, etc) but this one got my creative juices flowing and will probably help me get back into writing. So without further ado, please enjoy:
................................................................................................................................
Summary: The classes of Dupont takes a winter field trip to a cozy ski-resort in the French Alps. Many use the cold climate to have free-range for fun in the snow or get closer together with their crushes in time for the holidays. However, a snowstorm has trapped the resort guest in their hotel and panic starts settling in. Is this a case of cabin fever or is there something sinister lurking in the mountains.
................................................................................................................................
“I cannot wait for this trip!” Marinette skipped around her room, pulling out several articles of clothing from her various drawers and trunks. “Two weeks at a ski-resort! Right before the winter holidays!”
Tikki giggled as her holder zipped back and forth around her room. Thanks to the ‘generosity' of Chloe Bourgeois – correction: begging and whining to her father – she had gotten the school to agree to host a pre-winter break field trip to one the best ski resorts in the country. How was that possible? Well, it may be because the owner of the resort, one Rodolphe Boivin, was Chloe’s uncle and would ‘adore having his favorite niece and her class over at his resort.’
Chloe’s words, not her.
Whatever the reason, the entire school was treated to an all-expense-paid stay to the Chateau Boivin. Of course, the catch would be that the students provide good reviews for the resort and promise not to break anything, signed contracts and all. Everyone was abuzz with excitement, many thanking the blonde who soaked up the praise with unconcealed glee. Students started making plans on what they wanted to do at the resort when they arrived. From skiing to snowboarding, 24-hours spas, 5-star dining, horse-drawn sleighs, and even a wine festival, Chateau Boivin goes all out every winter.
"When we arrive, I'm going to unpack all my stuff then grab an early lunch," Marinette recited out loud. "Then I'm going to talk to the activities director to book a ski lesson for the next day. Explore the place and figure out everything is located, maybe take a dip in the Jacuzzi and end the day with a nice dinner.”
“Promise to bring me back something sweet,” Tikki chirped.
“Of course,” smiled Marinette. “From what I read, this place hires some excellent pâtissiers for their dessert menu and café.”
“Better than your parents?” joked Tikki.
“Hmmm, maybe a close second.” Marinette joked, still rummaging through her things.
“You sure you’re not packing too many things?” asked the kwami.
“Just the essentials. Plus dad will take this down in the morning. Hopefully, he won't start crying again."
“My poor baby is leaving us!” Tikki mimicked her dad’s earlier reaction to the trip. “I knew this day would come but it’s too soon!”
“Dad, it’s just two weeks,” Marinette narrated her part. “Please don’t cry. I promise to call every day.”
Both giggled as she continued packing up her stuff. Clothing, shoes, toiletries, first aid kit, and some emergency cash just in case. She even packed up her sketchbook if she got inspired, as well as some tiny jackets she knitted for Tikki. Even if Tikki wasn't that affected by the cold, the little kwami looked adorable in a wool sweater.
“Alright! I think that’s everything!” exclaimed Marinette, finally closing the suitcase.
“Can you lift it?”
Marinette hoisted the bag over her shoulder with ease. “Over a year of swinging atop rooftops and fighting super-powered villains builds up muscle strength.”
“The fact that you can throw Chat Noir at an akuma should have let you know.”
“I thought that was another superpower while as Ladybug,” replied Marinette.
“Nope, that all Marinette-power,” cheered Tikki.
Marinette shook her head and smiled. Her little kwami watched as her holder cheerfully babbles about her plans for the resort. Seeing her smile so widely made the kwami really how long it has been since her wielder felt so content. For a while, a fog of sadness seemed to have washed over the poor girl. Everything she did or said felt halfhearted. Schoolwork, homework, designing, all done with half the effort and half the enthusiasm. And Tikki knew what – or rather, who – was the cause of all these…
On cue, the designer’s phone chimed with a text message. Glancing down, Marinette smiled faded. Sighing, she responded to the text before tossing it on her chaise. Tikki read over the message and her smile, too, faded.
Alya: Hey girl! All packed up for the trip? Can’t wait until we get there! Lila promised to give us some snowboarding lessons while we're there. Her cousin won gold in the Olympics for snowboarding! I'm so excited!
Marinette: okay.
“Marinette…” Tikki gave her a sad look.
“It’s fine,” she cut her off. “I’ll just politely refuse, say I already booked a lesson. If Alya lectures me again, then so be it. I’m used to it by now.”
Tensions between Marinette and her classmate were still present after the whole expulsion-debacle. Even with her classmates ‘apologizing' to her, though she doubts they were truly apologetic, they still felt that she was being unfair to Lila because of her illness. And suddenly her love and care for her classmates started to dissipate.
Even Adrien – sweet, perfect Adrien – didn’t seem all that sweet or perfect. While he assured her that he was on her side, his action seemed to express another thing. While he didn’t want to out the liar, he didn’t try to protect their classmates either. Marinette could see the hope and excitement in her classmates’ eyes. So hopeful to believe in Lila. Believing she had the power to deliver their dreams to them on a silver platter. Sacrificing their energy, time and money to pamper her so she, in turn, would reward them for their generosity.
Never did Marinette feel a stronger urge to vomit when she realized that.
What did Adrien expect to happen when the truth about Lila's lies came out? Did he think that everything would go back to normal? That Lila would learn her lesson and become a good person? Maybe that was the naïve optimism that Adrien possessed. And while Marinette would love for that to happen, it didn't fix everything. Not the months she spent isolated from the others. The cruel words they spat at her. The glares and stares. Disappointed sighs. Like she was the cruel one. The unreasonable one.
Suddenly she was busy with online commissions or her parents needed an extra set of hands at the bakery or she had to babysit Manon. Any excuse just to avoid them all. Marinette, the girl filled with love and compassion and sweetness, felt bitterness, anger, and disgust festering inside her. She didn’t want to feel this way, especially towards her classmates, people whom she has known and loved for years. But…
‘You’d think they would at least consider what I said,’ Marinette thought. ‘With how long I’ve known them and what I did to help them…you would think…’
Marinette shook her head and took several deep breaths. Master Fu's breathing exercises would calm her down and wash out any negative thoughts. And give the following few weeks since Lila's return, Marinette has made it a routine to do them before, during and after school. The last thing she needs is another near akumazation and lose Tikki thanks to that little liar.
“Don’t worry Marinette,” her kwami consoled. “You can use this trip to reconnect with your friends.”
“Unless they invite Lila…” Marinette could not remember a single outing she had Alya had without the blogger trying to add Lila. Not that she had trouble doing so, Lila just loved to force herself between Mari and her friends.
“Maybe you and Alya can do a girl’s night,” suggested Tikki. “Just the two of you.”
“Maybe…” Marinette said, but her voice held some hesitation in the idea.
“Marinette!” Sabine’s echoed from below. “Did you finish packing?”
“Yes, maman,” answered Marinette, opening the hatched door. “All packed up and ready to go.”
“Well don’t tell your father that,” her mother gave a small chuckle. “Dinner’s almost ready.”
“Okay, I’ll get change and come down,” Marinette replied.
Marinette quickly changed into her pajamas so she could jump into bed after dinner. These pajamas were thicker, made from wool as the snow started covering the glittering city. The Dupain-Cheng shared a dinner of Boeuf Bourguignon, potato gratin and hot chocolate for dessert. Pleasantries were passed around along with reminders from parents to take care of herself and to bundle up when leaving the resort.
After dinner wrapped up, Marinette dashed back into her room, doing last-minute checks on her stuff. Just as she finished, her phone rang. Apprehensive, she picked up her phone and sighed in relief. Tapping on the video chat button, her screen opened up to reveal a familiar elder fiddling with his own cell.
“Ah! Marinette good to see you...hold on...” she giggled as Fu’s screen kept moving around the room before finally settling on his face. “There, better! Thank you Wayzz.”
“Yes, thank you, Wayzz,” giggled Marinette.
“Are all packed up and ready to go?” asked Master Fu.
“Yes…” whined Marinette. “You’re like my parents.”
“They mean you well,” the Chinese man smiled. “This trip will be good for you.”
“Will you be alright by yourself?” she asked.
“Marinette, I am over a hundred years old. I can handle a little frozen weather. You should have seen the blizzards and snowstorms they had near the temple when I was your age!"
“But what about Hawkmoth? What if he…”
“Do not worry about him,” Master Fu waved off her concern. “Around this season, he’s more subdued due to Nooro’s sensitivity to the cold.”
“Speaking of ‘sensitivity to the cold,’” Marinette turned to Tikki, who was snuggled up in one of her pigtails.
“Insect like ladybugs and butterfly usual hibernate during the colder months,” explained Master Fu. “Even if Tikki and Nooro aren't actual insects, they do share similarities in their nature and habits."
“Good thing I made some tiny jackets and mittens for Tikki here,” Marinette teased, patting her kwami on the head.
“She should be fine. We did a regular healing session, so she won’t fall ill while on the trip,” replied Master Fu. “So I suggest you take full advantage of your time to have fun while up in the mountains. Just be warned that snowstorms are sudden, so stick close to shelter.”
"Are you sure it is alright for me to leave for this trip?” asked Marinette. “I can cancel…”
“No, no, no,” Master Fu wagged his finger at her. “This trip is for you to enjoy yourself. No Miraculous usage. No akuma attacks. Take this time to relax and replenish your energy.”
Despite Fu’s insistence, Marinette still felt a bit nervous about leaving Paris unprotective for such a length of time. With both her and Chat Noir – he was also going out of town! What are the odds?! – out of the city, Hawkmoth might take this as an opportunity to wreak havoc upon Parisian citizens.
Fu smiled and assure her that Hawkmoth would be too busy to do any sort of attack. How could he be so confident that Hawkmoth wouldn’t attack while she was gone? Marinette didn’t get a direct response, just a wink from the elder man and a giggle from his kwami. His secrecy to certain things was still in effect. The pigtailed girl just sighed and took the guardian’s word for it.
Truthfully, she felt grateful to have time for herself. Even if she didn't hang out with her friends, her time was still stretched between akuma attacks, classes, commissions, and homework. Top it off with Lila's manipulation and isolation, her stress levels were through the roof. Two weeks away at a luxurious resort seemed like a perfect opportunity for her. Even with Lila there.
“Marinette! Light’s out!” her mother’s voice called out from below. “You don’t want to be tired for tomorrow.”
“You best go to bed,” replied Master Fu. “We shall talk another day.”
“Goodnight, Master Fu,” replied Marinette before ending the call.
................................................................................................................................
Adrien sighed as he finished his disappointing dinner – a small piece of salmon with a dry salad, water and a piece of bread – before heading back to his room. His house echoed with the bitter December winds, creating a cacophony of loud, wailing noises. Such noises would normally cause people to assume the home was haunted, but Adrien just took it as a sign that he was alone.
Both Gabriel and Nathalie had been busy throughout the entire week, getting ready for next year’s Spring fashion line and fulfilling the last of the orders for his winter collection. All staffers were excused for the holidays. Even Gorilla had been scarcely seen in the past few days, sticking to his driving duties as Adrien's modeling schedule was wrapping up. Had it not been for Plagg and Nino’s skype calls, the blonde believed he would go mad.
Speaking of Plagg, the tiny cat was busy stuffing his face with his signature camembert cheese. “How was dinner?” he asked, voice muffled by cheese.
Adrien shrugged his shoulder as he sat on his bed. “By the way,” continued Plagg. “Your friend texted you a few minutes ago.”
Smiling, Adrien snatched his phone and read all his messages. Most of them were from Chloe, some from his classmate, but his most recent was from Nino.
Nino: Hey! You ready?
Adrien: Yep! Everything is all packed up.
Nino: I’m so stoked for this trip! It’s going to be awesome! I looked up online and this place has an underground dance room. Think we can sneak in and use it?
Adrien: I’m sure if we ask, they’ll let us use it. Or Chloe could ask.
Nino: Aww, but that takes out the fun of it :(
Adrien: I just don’t want to get in trouble
Nino: Ah yes, the sunshine child. Mr. Goody-two shoes.
Adrien: Hey! I can be bad! I can be a rebel!
Nino: Dude, I can’t believe you typed that XD Sorry to tell you this, but you’re probably the last person that I can see breaking the rules.
Adrien chuckled at reading that. He could only imagine what Nino would think if he told him that most of his night was spent hopping off rooftops in black leather. Probably laugh, thinking he was joking.
Adrien: You never know, I may surprise you!
Nino: Sure~ anyway, we're are rooming together right?
Adrien: Yeah, Chloe made sure to put us together. We're on the fifth floor, #512
Nino: Sweet! Do you know where everyone else is?
Adrien: Not everyone. Chloe showed me the room placements and our class is on the fifth floor.
Nino: So the entire fifth floor is ours? Nice! Party all night!
Adrien: I wouldn’t do that if I were you. Mme. Mendeleiev and her class are on the floor below us. Do you want to disturb her with your music?
Nino: Uh…did I say party all night? I mean going to bed on time and making no noise after curfew.
Adrien: Smart. I’ll just ask Chloe if we can use the dance room.
Nino: Fine, we’ll go the easy way. Gotta go, mom’s telling me to go to bed. Talk to you tomorrow. Night.
Adrien: Night.
After sending his text, Adrien quickly changed into his pajamas and went over his luggage again. Even though Nathalie told him to leave things as is, no changes or add ons, Adrien thought it best to sneak in some games and emergency cheese for Plagg. And his father’s birthday scarf.
“I cannot wait for the trip,” Adrien smiled, giddy with excitement. His formerly sober mood gone and replaced with that of unbridled joy.
Class had been, for lack of a better term, tense in the past few months. Ever since Marinette was nearly expelled. And while the class did apologize and Marinette accepted, he could see the hurt and pain in her eyes. Like she didn’t believe them and was accepting their apology to be polite. And even after the incident, Lila kept lying and trying to attack Marinette, though indirectly this time.
Marinette's solution to all this: avoiding everyone in class like the plague.
He could see it: the excuses, the non-verbal answer, the fact that she physically kept her distance from them when in a group. Not to mention the fact that she had mentioned multiple times that she was helping with her parents' deliveries, only for Chat Noir to spot her on the opposite side of the city sketching or shopping. Not like he could confront her with that. Most likely it will cause her to distance herself further from the group. He hated that she was pulling away and he hated that he couldn't do anything about it.
But maybe this trip could change all that! A small resort filled with activities and games, getting in the early holiday spirit, hanging out with the class as a group. Maybe, just maybe, they can rekindle that friendship with Marinette. Maybe Lila will finally back off and leave her alone. Maybe things will finally go back to normal.
“Ugh, why couldn’t you have gotten a tropical vacation,” moaned Plagg. “I hate the cold. Frostbite, cold snaps, blizzards, and worse of all: frozen cheese!”
“They have heating in the resort,” responded Adrien, rolling his eyes. “Your cheese will be fine.”
“Frozen cheese is no laughing matter!” whined Plagg. “I still remember that awful blizzard of ’93. All my stock supply of cheese was frozen over! Cracked! Broken! Even when they thawed out, the flavor and texture turned to mush! Like eating moldy oatmeal!”
“Plagg! Gross!” Adrien gave a disgusted look. “I don’t need to hear that.”
“And I don’t need to suffer the consequences of frozen cheese!” Plagg wept.
“Well keep that whining to a minimum when we’re at the resort since the rooms are shared,” the blonde remarked.
Plagg groaned. “Great. So not only do I have to suffer through cheese freezing, I’ll be spending my days being stuffed inside a bag.”
“You’ll stay in the room while I’m out with my friends. Just be careful if any maids or cleaning staff come in.”
“Whatever.”
“And try not to stink up the room when you eat,” he stated. “I don’t want to get weird looks from my friends.”
Plagg continued to groan even louder, annoying Adrien. “I promise if you stay as quiet as a mouse and not cause trouble for the entire trip, I’ll buy you a whole crate of fancy imported cheese.”
“…what kind of cheese?” questioned Plagg.
“Every kind,” Adrien smirked. “Hard and soft. From abertam cheese to xynotyro. Just promise to be on your best behavior and it will all be yours.”
“…very well,” Plagg straighten himself out. "I'll be a good kitty. Heck, I'll act like one of those snooty, pageant cats that are on TV." The kwami gave a fake lick to his paw and meowed in a condescending tone.
“How about you just stay hidden and we’ll be good.”
“Fine, ruining my fun,” Plagg smirked before landing on the pillow next to Adrien and immediately fell asleep.
Adrien, however, kept going through his phone. Giddiness vibrated through his body as he pictured his next two weeks by himself. It took weeks and weeks of begging and bargaining with his father to even tolerate the idea let alone consider it. But Adrien persevered, getting top grades in his class, nailed all his photoshoots and stuck with his daily schedule – save a few times he had to fight an akuma – before his father looked at the permission sheet.
In the end, it all paid off! His father read over the contract, signed it and had Nathalie go over the details with Mme. Bustier to make sure everything was on the up and up. Mayor Bourgeois and M. Boivin even spoke to him to ensure that no harm would come to the young Adreste while at the Chateau Boivin. Over the top? Yes, but it was normal for Gabriel Adreste. Though it could be forgiven as this would be Adrien's first time away from his father for an extended period.
‘Two weeks on my own,’ Adrien smiled. ‘No hectic schedules. No extra lessons. Just two weeks of having fun and hanging out with my friends!’
“This will be the best vacation ever!” the blonde yawned before falling asleep.

Christmas morning on board Thunderbird Five and John is recapping the last 24 hours with his AI unit EOS
“Are you sitting comfortably?”
John, is this really necessary? I mean, seriously, I cannot physically ‘sit’, since I’m on a rail.
John looked askance at the AI unit
“Do you want me to continue?”
Ugh, if you insist, although I think this is pointless. What am I going to learn from a fairytale? They’re not real.
John lifted a finger, opened his mouth to speak, paused then closed it again
“Ah .. good point EOS ... but still ... can I tell it to you anyways?”
Fine
“Ahem ... now ... where were we? Oh yes, sitting comfortably.”
John ...
“Christmas is a time for magic and wonder and of five Birds made of Thunder where one Christmas day something special did happen ...”
“MERRY CHRISTMAS JOHN!”
He was interrupted by holograms of his brothers all whooping and cheering. He was glad he wasn’t there when they opened their presents, loose wrapping paper on the floor was surely a disaster waiting to happen.
“Do you want to build a snowman???” “Gordon!” “What? It’s my favourite song. You were okay with it yesterday.” “Yeah, that was yesterday.” “We live on an island ... with a beach. We don’t get snow.” “Well ... we can always build sandcastles then?” “On that small strip of land? I don’t think so.” “Hey boys, wanna help me out with Christmas dinner?”
A collective URGH, they bid him farewell and hoped that he would manage to get his butt down from Thunderbird Five to have dinner with them. He said he would try. Besides, there was a lot to talk about, especially after last night’s adventure.
He turned to EOS, her ring of green lights almost waiting expectantly for him to continue. Yes, she was an inanimate object that couldn’t possibly exude any kinds of emotion. But she was his companion, his helper on board the space station.
Yeah, his brothers and sisters often sent holocalls to check on him, see if he was okay(Virgil), being well fed (Scott) when is he coming home (Alan) got a joke for you (Gordon)and Kayo’s standard security check. It was her way of checking up on him, without sounding too much like a smother hen and being girly and mushy.
“Sorry about that.”
That’s fine, but please don’t tell the tale in rhyme. It’s just .... patronizing I am not a child
John was amused at her way of expressing herself. Some days she can be so childlike, others so mature. But she was still relevantly new to International Rescue and the world in general.
“Okay ... well it all started with a call from a kindly old lady.”
Yes, I remember that.
Which brings me to the rest of the story
John gets a call from a kindly old lady who is the epitome of what a grandma SHOULD look like. He assumes that she’s asking someone to help her to get a cat out of a tree … on Christmas Eve of all things. Rescues were becoming less common than they used to be, thanks to Colonel Casey setting up and training a small unit of rescue support people. Still, despite this, they were still fudging things up and International Rescue had to be called. Often to clean up the GDF’s messy rescues.
It would be their first Christmas without an emergency, although they were still on standby ... you know … just in case.
It was a typical Christmas Eve family get- together. Scott armed with a fire extinguisher, because Grandma was cooking the turkey. She was busy chasing MAX out of the kitchen because she wanted to do this on her own. Virgil was on guard duty near the tree, just in case the two youngest brothers tried to sneak a peek at the pile of presents underneath. Gordon was singing ‘Do You Want To Build a Snowman?’ loudly and out of tune whilst scooping ice cream out of the tub … to everybody’s dismay. And Alan was chatting online to Brandon Berrenger, because they’d arranged to have an online gaming challenge.
Being the son of a billionaire had its perks. One of them being, that they could get advanced copies and sneaky previews of stuff before anyone else. And in this case, it was a thank you present for helping to save Brandon … again.
Brains, was fretting because Moffie hadn’t called to thank him for his ‘wonderful gift’ and was seen pacing the hangar floor waiting for her call.
Kayo was off the island, delivering a gift to her father most likely … or doing a security sweep. One minute, she’d be there, the next she was gone. That was Kayo, an enigma unto herself.
Which left John who was on board Thunderbird Five with EOS. He was trying to explain to the AI unit about Christmas … and wondering just how many packets of TUMS were still available. He was not looking forward to this dinner at all. Since they were living in the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons differed to that of their other grandparents home. Gran Roca Ranch.
He and the rest of his brothers suggested a barbecue and a chill out, but they were soon overruled by the matriarch of the family. She wanted a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings and by heck she WILL have one.
Speaking of … a hologram popped up halfway through John and EOS’s chats. It was a lovely little old lady. Her silver hair was up in a loose bun, she had silver half moon glasses perched on her button nose and if she wasn’t worried right now, John would correctly assume that she had a kindly smile.
“International Rescue? What is your situation?”
He was already scanning her location. Nothing seemed to be amiss – so far. But … he had to deal with this call like any other ones, as if there WAS a proper rescue and people needed saving.
“Oh … oh … hello deary.”
Oh gosh, that voice was soooo sweet. He half expected her to reach through the holovideo, pat him on his shoulder and tell him that he’d been such a good boy this year, and slip a peppermint into his hand. Or offer him a nice mug of hot chocolate.
He shook his head. No … what’s wrong with me? He wondered to himself. Blinking several times, he tried to get rid of the sudden warm and fuzzy feeling he was getting. He really needed to get his head back into this rescue.
Even EOS picked up on his sudden change of mood.
John? Are you okay? You are acting strangely. Quite unlike yourself. Shall I run some scans?
“No … no, it’s fine … I’m fine EOS.”
He was momentarily distracted by a ring of green lights that appeared in front of him. It was enough to break whatever spell he’d been put under. Flushing brightly, after being caught off guard there, he turned back to the little old lady, who was tugging at a lace handkerchief and muttering …
“Oh dear … oh dear.”
The scans still showed nothing, nothing at all. Which, was very odd indeed.
“How can I help you?”
May as well pull this Band Aid off and see what the problem is.
“I … seem to have lost my … my husband.”
And there it was … the crux of the matter.
“Have you contacted your local authorities? See if they can help?”
It wasn’t really something that they would normally deal with. But he had to go through protocol here, as some local authorities frowned upon someone muscling in on their territory. Her eyes widened with horror. At least she stopped sniffling.
“Oh, heavens no!” she exclaimed, “this is not exactly something that they could deal with.”
John narrowed his eyes suspiciously. What exactly was this old woman up to … and what devious plans was she embroiled in? He wasn’t sure if he should help or not. But … as their motto stated … no matter how good or bad, if they needed rescuing, then that’s their job – or something similar to that.
“Would you care to explain before I dispatch anyone?”
And so she told him the whole story and made him promise to be discreet. He blinked rapidly as he listened, and then patched through to Tracy Island, where everyone gathered … as per the norm.
“Guys?” John said hesitantly, he wasn’t sure himself of how to phrase this but he tried and hoped that they wouldn’t laugh or poke fun, “you’re not going to believe this.”
“Fire away John,” Scott responded, bracing himself for news of their dad. Gordon was still singing ‘Do you want to build a snowman?’ and chasing Alan around the room, threatening to drop ice cream down the back of his tee shirt.
“It seems … that …” oh darn, this sounds so stupid “… that … Mrs Santa Claus is asking for our help. It appears that her husband has disappeared and hasn’t been seen for hours. His … erm … ‘tracker’ had been disabled.”
Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at John. Even Gordon fell silent.
“Say that again John?”
He knew they wouldn’t believe him. But he repeated himself and patched through Mrs Santa Claus herself, just to prove that he wasn’t going space crazy.
When she spotted them all, she beamed brightly and clapped her hands.
“Oh … International Rescue! I am so glad to see you all. I do hope that you can help me. You see…”
“Yeah, we know,” Alan interrupted grabbing the scoop from Gordon and setting it down on the counter top, “your husband…. Santa Claus … has gone missing.”
Her cheery demeanour soon changed and she glared hard at him, folding her arms and scowling.
“Well …” she said scornfully,”… aren’t YOU a rude little boy?”
Virgil stepped forward, hands in front of him in a placating manner.
“Wait … wait …” he said quickly, “let’s not turn this into a personal fight here.”
He turned around to everyone present, raising his eyebrows as a gesture to ‘roll with this, guys’, then looked at Mrs Claus with wonder and sincerity. Maybe there was something in rescuing Father Christmas after all? Unfortunately, the hologram before them did NOT look impressed.
“I’ve seen that look before,” she chided, “so many times, it is getting old.” “What look?” “Oh … the old … ‘if I’m super nice to you, maybe I can get my presents early’ look. Sorry young man, I’m NOT falling for it.”
John watched from space and took note of how feisty this woman was. And wondered if her husband had just wandered off to get away from her? Because now, with her true personality showing through, she was acting more like an old dragon lady. MUCH worse than grandma ... and that was saying something.
But then she changed again and started sobbing into her hankie.
“Christmas is going to be ruined! I know it. If he doesn’t deliver those presents all over the world … millions of children will be so disappointed. And that will mean a huge dip in popularity.”
She sighed heavily, dramatically and blew her nose … loudly.
“Oh well,” she said, smiling weakly, “guess it had to happen sooner or later. With all the climate changes … wars and conflicts and consumerism at its highest peak, people are losing faith in the spirit of Christmas. It’s all about grabbing bargains … and selling stuff in the middle of the year.”
They listened to her rambling.
It was true. Or, at least some of it was anyways.
“And … using us, to traumatize children. Scaring them into being good all the time, or we won’t give them their presents. That’s not what we started out to achieve.”
She sniffled again, wiped some tears from her face and looked up hopefully at them.
“Please … give this elderly couple some help? Even if this could be our last proper Christmas?”
The shriek of the smoke alarms and some unsavoury language coming from the kitchen area, was enough to convince everyone that THIS … whatever it was … was an emergency. They all turned to Mrs Claus, backs straightened and hopeful smiles …
And unanimously agreed …
“We’ll do it!”
John started delegating everyone to Thunderbird Two and said he’d stay behind to get the coordinates and track their whereabouts.
That’s when Mrs Claus butted in with a wag of her finger.
“Nuh uh uh,” she chided, “I need ALL of you for this one.” “Well … Kayo’s off the island,” Scott explained.
Her response was a death glare and he quickly corrected himself.
“But … maybe we can fill her in as we go along. John? You’ll have to get your bu …. *cough* Come down from Thunderbird Five. Hand everything over to EOS.” “Already on it.”
As they dashed through the living area, Grandma Tracy appeared, a whisk clogged with … some charred food on it.
“Where are you boys going? Dinner’s almost ready.”
Alan wheeled around, his eyes were bright.
“We’re off to save Santa!” he exclaimed.
Grandma just nodded and returned to whisking what was supposed to be mashed potatoes, muttering …
“Hmph, any excuse to get out of dinner. What will they think of next?”
MAX, wheeled around whistling and beeping. It was the only sound in the place. Nothing new really, she was used to them going off for hours. But … it was their first Christmas spent together as a family.
As soon as the hologram of John vanished, ‘Mrs Claus’ spun around in her chair and faced the hologram of her ‘husband’ with a grin.
“That’s stage one complete. Now for stage two.”
She was rewarded with a thumbs up.
“Ready when you are.”
Fingers flashed over a keyboard, the screen scrolled a list of algorithms … and then stopped.
“Alrighty then, co-ordinates are logged in.”
She pressed the button to Thunderbird Five and was greeted by a polite, but suspicious EOS.
“Hello dearie.”
Hello Mrs Claus how can I be of assistance?
“I have managed to find some co-ordinates that may have been the last whereabouts of my husband. Or at least I think they are. This system of mine is so outdated. We are so used to using the stars for navigation.”
EOS paused, trying to pick up some telltale signs in the woman’s voice. But … nothing. She could easily ignore this message, not forward it. But John and the rest were already on their way. Besides, it would be really petty of her. And if she helped in this way, maybe … just maybe she could gain just a little bit more of their trust?
I’m patching you through.
“Why thank you dearie, oh and don’t worry about the Tracy boys … they DO trust you. Why else would they leave you to handle the calls and monitor everything, if they didn’t?”
If EOS could blink, she would. She double checked her systems to see if she’d accidentally taken her thought processors off mute, but nope, there they were, untouched.
Virgil intercepted the co-ordinates and typed them into Thunderbird Four’s navigation system.
“Shouldn’t be too long Mrs Claus.” “Oh … thank you. Thank you so much. You really are such good helpful boys.”
They all chuckled.
“It’s no problem, really.”
Gordon sat forward.
“Hey, wanna singalong whilst we travel? I know a good one.”
He opened his mouth and barely got ‘Do you wanna build a snowman’ …. Before they all shouted ..
NO!
“Aww. I like that one.” “We know. We’ve heard it all morning.”
They were shushed by Virgil, whose dashboard lit up with a green flashing light.
“We’re here … right where she said he’d be.”
The wipers swished across the windows, revealing a small hut. Smoke was coming from the chimney. But no reindeer … or sleigh for that matter … to be seen anywhere.
“Maybe someone found him and taken him in?” “Looks cold out there, maybe we should wrap up warm?”
As the hatch opened, flurries of snow swirled in and despite their uniforms, they shivered. And agreed.
They made their way tentatively across the knee deep snow towards the cabin and Virgil knocked on the door.
“Hello? Anyone in here?”
The door swung open and banged against the cladded wall. A scruffily dressed man stood there, an antique claymore pipe in his hand, the beard was ragged and scorched. And he was wearing some dirty grey thermals.
He did NOT look anything like the Santa Claus they were used to.
“Bout time you boys showed up,” he grumbled, biting on the stem of the pipe, “I’m bloody freezing in here.”
They exchanged puzzled glances.
“Mister …. Santa .. Claus?” Gordon asked hesitantly
“Pfft … call me Nick, Kris Kringle … or whatever name they’ve given me over the years.”
He wandered back into the little shack, it didn’t look big enough to fit all five Tracy brothers so they hesitated. He stopped and turned to frown at them and grabbed Virgil, the biggest of them all by his green sash and yanked him indoors.
For such a small man, he was surprisingly strong.
“Come in … come in … it’s a lot bigger on the inside. Trust me.”
He gave them a conspiratorial wink.
So, slowly, one by one, they stepped over the threshold and entered the shack. First impressions, as they glanced around, it looked cosy, and the fire crackled merrily in the hearth.
“You’ll be wondering where my sleigh and reindeers are huh?”
Yeah, they had wondered that. He tapped the side of his nose.
“I, too, have my own secrets you know. Long before Tracy Island and International Rescue were created.”
By now, they were really really curious about this odd little old man. Maybe it was the warmth from the fire … or his jovial nature … but somehow, they felt like little kids once more.
Santa Claus beamed. His magic was working after all. He was so worried that it had gone stale from lack of use over the years. He closed the door behind them and grabbed the red coat from the peg.
“Sit down ... sit down, make yourself comfy. I already have a part of your team here.”
He swept his arm around to reveal Kayo sitting by the fire, a mug of hot chocolate cupped in her hands. She’d been sitting there quietly, so quiet and still that nobody noticed her.
“She sneaked up on me,” Santa chuckled, “that girl’s got some talent there. No wonder Brains gave her Shadow.”
He waited until everyone found a seat and then he explained.
“You see ... once in a while, whilst checking my lists,” he began, “there comes along a time where there is a very special award to be given to those most deserving of people. Those who are brave and heroic.”
Gordon puffed up his chest with a grin.
“That’s us!”
He was silenced with a load of shushes and sat quietly, poking at the marshmallow on the top of his chocolate drink.
“It is usually awarded to one person. But ... you all came along and that put me into quite a quandary. Since you obviously have everything you want ....”
“Except dad.”
“Ah yes ... I’ll get to that ....”
He coughed a little, and fished into his pocket, bringing out a small bottle. The contents sparkled and swirled.
“See this? This is magical dust. It usually lasts for a whole day, but since there’s a group of you. It will only last for a couple of hours at least. This ... is your reward. It gives you something that you all missed.”
“Can you bring back dad?”
“Unfortunately no ... but you are all doing a great job in looking for him. Keep up the good work.”
All their faces fell. It was their greatest desire to have their father back. But Santa was wise, if he’d given them that wish, it would have only lasted a couple of hours and it would have just been like losing him again. He wasn’t able to see into the future, but he had an inkling that they would be able to find their father ... under their own steam.
He opened the vial, tipped the contents into his hand and blew. It spread all over the room, sparkling and glittering. Everyone expected to sneeze, because ... after all ... it was just dust. And like all dust, it gets up your nose and makes you sneeze.
It took a couple of minutes before the effects began. They all started giggling and pointing. Why? Because they’d all been turned into children. Instead of their uniforms, they all wore thick clothing with hats, gloves and scarfs.
Santa smiled at them.
“You don’t have to worry about rescues. I’ve managed to put them all on hold, or diverted them to other sources. Or they’ve all resolved one another. Now ... go outside and play.”
Which they all did, with barely concealed glee.
It had been a long time since they had proper fun. And they had never experienced snow together as an almost whole unit. They’d dreamed of tobogganing and found some sleds nearby. With shouts and yells ... and poor John falling over several times ... they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
But ... as time went on, the magic soon disappeared and they had to go back to their real lives. It was the best present Santa had ever given to them.
They thanked him profusely for the well deserved time off and gave him an updated tracking system to help him on his way before returning to Tracy Island. They were too tired to talk about it and immediately went to bed. John, however, was still buzzing when he took the space elevator up to Thunderbird Five.
He so wanted to share this experience with EOS
Yes, he was a practical man. He only looked at things in a scientific and sometimes abstract way ...
... but deep down, his inner child – like the rest of his brothers – still clung to the belief that Santa was real.
And for one moment. He was

Boston Boy - Chapter 11
A/N This is a long one, guys! But enjoy this fluff, because I’m throwing a curveball at our favorite couple in the next chapter.
Chris and Scott waited on the couch for Kate to finish collecting the things she would need for her show that evening. The last three days had flown by and Friday evening had snuck up on her. Kate had shown Chris pretty much everything he’d wanted to see and then some. He said he loved the artsy feel of Richmond and that he couldn’t wait to come back.
The Allens seemed to really love Chris. They had had dinner together the last two nights. Jan was finally starting to warm up to her sister’s boyfriend. Bill had come home one day from work to take Chris out to lunch. Through the hour and a half meal, Kate’s step-father had grilled Chris on his intentions with Kate and how their relationship was going to work with all the obstacles in their way. If anything, it had scared Chris some, but it hadn’t shaken his resolve to have a relationship with the man’s daughter.
Kate looked at herself in the mirror again and checked for anything that might need to be added. She had chosen to do her makeup at home since the upstairs of the venue where the performers hung out as their backstage area would be freezing and she didn’t feel like trying to do eyeliner with shaking hands. Her hair was up in rollers and when she took them out, she would just spray some hairspray in them to have large vampy waves resting on her shoulders and spilling down her back.
“Need some help, babe?” Chris asked, standing in between the screens between the bedroom and the living area.
“Um….” She appeared at the top of the stairs and he let out a loud whistle. “What?”
“You look hot!” Her eyebrow quirked up and she looked at him like he’d lost his mind. “What? You do!”
Scott appeared behind his brother and gave her a growl. “That glitter eyeshadow is fierce! How did you do that?”
She shook her head at them. “You’re both crazy.”
“That’s beside the point. What can I grab?” Chris asked, looking at the duffle bag, garment bag, and long gold box that held her feather fans sitting on her bed. Her makeup bag was in her hand.
“I guess all of that on the bed is ready to be put in the trunk.”
“What time did you need to be there?”
“Seven.”
“It’s a good thirty minute drive, right?” He glanced at his watch before he picked up the garment bag. “We need to leave soon.” “I know. I’m just making sure I have everything. Scott, can you grab the lighted mirror out of the middle cabinet up there?”
“Sure.” Scott was headed that way when she disappeared in the bathroom again.
Chris walked in a few moments later and stood in the doorway, watching her tie a pink handkerchief around the curlers. “You look gorgeous.”
She looked at him in the mirror. “I’m so nervous.”
“You’re going to be amazing.”
“How do you know?”
“I’ve seen your videos.” He put his hands on her hips and gazed at her over her head in the mirror. “Just breathe. This is just like any other show.”
“Except its not. My private life and my burlesque life are about to collide in a major way. I try very hard to keep them separate because people are crazy these days. I don’t need another stalker and I….”
“Another stalker? You’ve had one before?”
“Yes. It didn’t get serious enough to take to the police, but I did have to threaten him with it once. He’s been gone for a couple of years now.”
“What happened?”
“I met him on this online dating site and he seemed really nice, but when I met him in person there just wasn’t anything there. I saw him as someone I could be friends with, but there just wasn’t any romantic spark. He didn’t understand that, I guess. He would always push things too far. I finally cut him off, but he still tried to contact me on my phone and any of my social media sites…. He contacted my friends and a couple of my family members. He’s the main reason I take such care to keep my private and public life separate.”
“Do you not want me to come?”
Kate turned and looked up at him. “No! I want you there. I’m just nervous and babbling.”
He reached up and gently held the sides of her face. “Are you sure?”
“Yes.” She smiled. “A thousand times yes!”
“Ok. So let’s get moving.” He kissed her quickly, not wanting to ruin her makeup.
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*
There was already a line forming in front of the venue. Chris and Scott, loaded with her bags, mirror, and feather fans, followed her inside. She stopped to wave and say hi to some of the people there that called her stage name out. Inside, the place was busy with a performer doing a run through onstage, the door people were getting the till ready, the bartenders were getting set up, a few performers were helping set up chairs and watching the run through, and Dalia was in the back going through the set list with the sound guy.
The raven haired producer of the show grinned brightly and let out a squeal when she spotted Kate. “Kitty!” The two women embraced tightly. “Thank you so, so, so much for doing this! You saved my ass.”
“No problem.”
“That Boston air did you right. You look fantastic!” Dalia looked over at Chris and Scott. “Who are these big, strong hunks?”
“Dalia meet my boyfriend Chris and his brother Scott.”
Dalia leaned in and whispered, “Your boyfriend looks a lot like Captain America.” She looked over at Kate and Kate just grinned at her. “Are you serious?”
“Kitty Kat!” Amy quickly finished her descent down the stairs and rushed up to hug Kate tightly.
“Harley!” Kate laughed.
“All right, where is he? You promised I’d meet him.” Amy turned to look at Chris and Scott and her jaw dropped. “Holy shit! That’s….”
“Chris and his brother Scott. Guys this is Dalia and Harley.”
“I’m so confused right now.” Dalia said, her mouth opening and closing like a fish.
Amy smacked Kate’s shoulder. “Are you serious right now?”
“Ow!” Kate said, rubbing her shoulder.
“You’re the Richmond girl he’s been dating?”
“Apparently.”
“Oh my god!” Amy went to smack Kate’s arm, but Kate dodged out of the way. “How in the world…. What…. When…. Boston!?” “Yes.”
“Hi, Harley.” Chris said, tucking Kate under his arm to protect her from another slap. “It’s nice to meet you, Harley, and you, Dalia.”
“It’s nice to meet you, too.” Dalia said. “I don’t even know what else to say right now.”
“Holy shit, you’re Captain America! I just love your movies.” Amy said, shaking Chris’s hand emphatically. “I can’t believe you’re standing here and dating my friend. You guys are dating, right?”
“I would say so, yeah.” Chris laughed.
“Did you hypnotize him?” Amy asked Kate.
“Yes. With my klutziness.” Kate said.
“It started off rough, but it’s been smooth sailing lately.” Chris said. “Where do you want us to put this stuff?”
“Upstairs.” Kate said.
“I’ll show you.” Dalia said, giving Kate a wide eyed look as she led Chris and Scott to the stairs.
Amy watched them for a minute then turned back to Kate. “What. The. Hell!?”
“It’s a long story.” Kate said.
“We’ve got time. The doors don’t open for another hour.”
“I’ve got to finish getting ready.”
“Come on! I’ll help you, but you’ve got to tell me everything.”
Kate sighed and allowed Amy to drag her up the stairs. Dalia had directed them to Kate’s usual spot near the windows. Scott was plugging in her mirror and Dalia was trying desperately not to stare at Chris. “Hey, D? Scott needs a ticket. Chris is my plus one.”
“I didn’t bring my usual plus one.” Amy said. “Scott can be mine.”
“Oh, thanks.” Scott said.
“You can repay her by buying lots of raffle tickets.” Kate said.
“There’s a raffle?”
“Yes there is.” Dalia said. “It’s a good one tonight. Speaking of, Kate, I need to bring you posters to sign for the VIPs and the raffle winner.”
“I’m on the poster?” Kate asked. “That was fast.”
“I had to rush order it for tonight, but yeah. You’re on the poster.”
“Cool.”
“I’ll bring you the set list, too.”
“Who’s kitten for tonight? I need to get with her about set up.”
“She’s new. Her name is Peachy Keen. I’ll send her up. I gave Jax the cues for your numbers already. You might want to double check with him.”
“I will.” She waited till Dalia was at the stairs before she turned to Amy. Her friend was desperately trying not to gawk at Chris. “Amy. Hi! Wanna come with me to check on my cues with Jax?”
“Huh? Oh!” Amy shook herself. “Yeah.”
Kate looked at Chris and Scott. “Do you guys want anything from the bar?”
“We’ll come check out what they have.” Chris said. He and Scott followed Amy and Kate back downstairs, stopping at the bar while the women continued on to the sound booth.
“So, you met him in Boston?” Amy asked.
“Yeah.” Kate glanced back at Chris laughing with his brother. “We literally bumped into each other and I landed in dog poop. He was a perfect gentleman. Gave me his jacket and walked me back to the hotel. Then he asked me to dinner to apologize and we just…. Hit it off.”
Amy’s grin widened. “I always knew you and him would be so compatible if you could just meet.”
“I bet a lot of people think that way.”
“Yeah, but you are living the dream.” Kate glanced at Chris again and saw him covertly watching her with a smile on his face. “He’s head over heels for you.”
Kate smiled to herself. “That’s a new look.” Jax said as they stopped at the sound booth. “You’re glowing.”
“Did you see her boyfriend?” Amy asked. “Captain Freaking America himself!”
“Yeah. I saw that. Congrats.”
“You’re being very chill about this.”
“How else am I supposed to be? Ok, Miss Monroe, let’s go over your cues.”
Ten minutes later, Kate and Amy headed back upstairs to finish getting ready. Chris had bought her a Bold Rock Hard Cider and kissed her before she’d gone upstairs. She and Amy chatted while Amy worked on Kate’s hair. Occasionally, the other performers came up to say hi and introduce themselves and some asked if she’d seen that there was a “super-celebrity” downstairs. Amy was quick to make sure they knew he was Kate’s and to leave him alone.
Finally, Kate was able to join Chris again a few minutes before the doors were scheduled to open. He gaped at her for a moment. “You look….”
“Hot!” Scott interjected.
Her first costume was a custom-made bra top in a pretty pattern of green, black, red, and purple. She had an underbust corset on that was littered with rhinestones in multiple colors. The skirt was made up of black spandex spankies that had strips of multicolored fabric pinned to it. The front strips were only in a single line while the strips in the back were layered on top of each other to create a Victorian bustle effect. When she moved, the strips bounced and waved. She was wearing five inch green heels with a purple ribbon tied around her ankles like the ribbon on ballet slippers. Her legs were accentuated by nude colored fishnets.
“Thank you, Scott.” Kate purred, trying to slip into her Kitty Monroe persona.
Chris shifted his weight, moving his hips slightly and clearly trying to readjust himself. “When do you go on?” “We’ve got another hour till the show starts and I’m the fifth act on. I close out the first half and I close out the show. I could smack Dalia for that. She knows I hate closing the show.”
“Why?” Scott asked.
“Cause that’s too much pressure. That’s where the headliner goes usually. I’m not a headliner.” “This poster says different.” Scott held up one of the posters he’d bought from Dalia. Her friend and mentor had put Kate’s picture in the middle of the others and made it slightly bigger with her name in bold letters around the image. “Would you please sign this? I’m a huge fan!”
Kate giggled. “Of course.” She walked behind the bar and grabbed a silver Sharpie to sign the dark colored poster with. Scott produced a second one for her to sign that he’d gotten for Chris.
“Can’t wait to sell this on eBay when you’re famous.”
“Quit embarrassing her.” Chris said, wrapping his arm around her waist. “Fuck this corset is stiff.”
“Clearly you’ve never done a period piece beyond the 20s.”
“Nope.”
“And this is looser and easier to wear than my Tudor corset.”
“Chris sent me pictures of that.” Scott said. “You looked amazing.”
“Thank you.”
Peachy Keen, the kitten for the evening, timidly walked up to Kate. “Um, Kitty, can we go over your set up again? I just want to make sure everything is right.”
Kate smiled. “Yeah. Excuse me, guys.” She kissed Chris quickly and followed Peachy behind the stage.
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*
Chris and Scott cheered loudly as Kate took a bow at the end of the show. Dahlia had just brought each of the performers back out on stage for their curtain call. The audience was going crazy along with the Evans brothers. Dahlia waited until the audience had calmed down and then took a moment to thank the entire cast for being there before thanking Kate personally and calling her a lifesaver again. There was more applauding and the photographer took pictures of the cast as the audience filed out or waited to meet them.
Scott ran out to the car and grabbed the large bouquet of stargazer lilies Chris had hidden in the trunk. When he came back, Chris was waiting in the lobby area where the vendors were set up. Kate was in front of the stage in the next room smiling, laughing, and taking pictures with people. A bachelorette party had come to the show that night and they were currently begging for pictures with Kate. Chris was watching her with a goofy grin on his face as he posed for a few pictures himself and signed a few autographs.
“She looks like a natural in front of people.” Scott said, handing Chris the bouquet.
“Yeah.” Chris said.
“She might actually be able to handle your day job.”
“Yeah.”
Scott laughed at his brother and waved at Kate when she looked over at them. Her eyes widened in surprise when she saw the bouquet of her favorite flowers. Chris wiggled them at her with a smile and she excused herself from the group of people around her.
She made her way over to Chris and he handed her the bouquet with a sweet kiss. “Chris, they’re beautiful! Thank you!”
“You were incredible, baby. I couldn’t take my eyes off you.”
“Neither could anyone else.” Scott said, kissing Kate’s cheek as he hugged her. “There was a moment you made me seriously contemplate going straight and giving this guy a run for his money.”
Kate laughed. “Thank you, Scott.”
Dahlia walked over and gave Kate’s arm a squeeze. “I’m going to head up and start doing the books. Are you guys cool to wait around?”
“Is it ok if we don’t? Can you PayPal me? I want to start packing and head out.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah. I’ll see you later.”
Dahlia blew Kate a kiss as she headed for the stairs. Amy walked up to them with a big grin on her face. “I think this was the best raffle we’ve ever done. You two are the talk of the night. Everyone wants a piece of you, Kitty. I swear I’ve been asked more about you tonight than I know the answers to.”
“Oh.” Kate glanced at Chris. “Weird.”
“Don’t worry. I’m keeping my mouth shut. It’s none of their business.”
“Thank you.”
“Are you guys heading out?”
“Yeah. We’ve got an early morning and a long day tomorrow.”
“Chris, when are you and Scott leaving town?”
“I’m leaving Monday morning.” Chris said. “Scott is catching a red eye tomorrow night.”
“Harley, it was a pleasure meeting you.” Scott said.
“Me?” Amy laughed. “It was a pleasure meeting you two!”
“Quit drooling.” Kate said, playfully nudging her friend’s arm. “We’re going upstairs to pack.”
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*
Chris, Scott, and Kate sat around her living room later that night surrounded by the remnants of their Taco Bell trip watching one of the late-night talk shows. Kate was curled up with Chris under a white fuzzy blanket on her recliner while Scott lounged on the couch. Chris enjoyed the smell of her freshly washed hair and skin and didn’t mind that her still wet hair was soaking through his t-shirt. The fingers of his left hand drew random patterns on her hip while the fingers of his right hand entwined with hers.
“You two look like you’ve been doing that for years.” Scott said.
“Yeah?” Chris asked. He kissed the top of her head and wrapped his arms around her just a little tighter. “I hope we’ll get that chance.” Scott gave his brother a huge grin.
“After we get done taking pictures in the morning,” Kate said, her face a soft pink from blushing at Chris’ words. “Chris and I were planning to go to Williamsburg and spend the day. You up for that, Scott?”
“Of course!” Scott said. “I’ve got a rental car coming in the morning, so I’ll just follow you around.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m going to leave you guys in the late afternoon. Chris is taking you on a date tomorrow evening.”
“He is, is he?” Kate looked up at Chris and he smiled back innocently.
“Way to give my secret away, bro.” Chris said, tossing a cinnamon twist at Scott’s head. Scott actually caught it in his mouth and grinned at them. “Yeah, I made us a reservation at Le Yaca. That’s the place you were telling me about with the food you love, right?”
Kate smiled. “Yeah.”
“Scott is going to take you shopping for a dress to wear tomorrow at the outlets you were telling me about.”
“I volunteered to be your gay BFF.” Scott said proudly.
“I don’t have one of those, so thanks.” Kate laughed.
“My pleasure!”
She looked at Chris. “What will you be doing while we’re shopping?”
“Buying myself a suit. I didn’t bring one and Scott forgot.” Chris said.
“I said I was sorry.” Scott said.
Kate let out a yawn that threatened to split her face in two. Chris chuckled. “Ok, I get the hint. Bedtime.”
“I wasn’t hinting.” Kate said. “I didn’t even mean to let that one slip.”
“Come on,” Chris wriggled out of the chair and helped her up, grabbing the blanket and setting it on the vacated recliner. “We’ve got an early morning and it’s already one in the morning.”
“Here,” Kate pulled the coffee table out and then pulled the bottom of the couch out. She pushed the back of the couch down and the whole thing turned into a full-sized bed. Chris had gotten a fitted sheet and a comforter out of the laundry room and set it next to the couch. He picked them up and handed them to Scott.
“That’s a cool couch.” Scott said.
“Ikea.” Kate yawned again and Chris bent over suddenly, tossing her over his shoulder. She squeaked in surprise and he laughed.
“Good night, Scott.” Chris said as he carried Kate towards the bed.
“Night, guys.” Scott laughed.
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*
The photoshoot didn’t take long that morning. Only a couple of hours. Chris and Scott had been a huge help. They’d shown the two women some better poses and held the reflectors in just the right spots. They’d gone to the Richard Bland campus and taken pictures in the Japanese garden there. Chris had managed to fall into the stream leading to the pond and his entire backside was soaked. It had ended the shoot in laughter.
They’d gotten to Williamsburg by eleven in the morning and had spent the day roaming around Colonial Williamsburg. They’d attended the witch trial and gone to the silversmith. Chris had bought a silver locket for Kate with her initials engraved on it. He’d made her promise to wear it on their date that evening.
After spending the majority of the day in colonial times, they’d gone to the outlet mall and split up. Scott and Kate had gone through stores like whirlwinds. They picked a pretty ox blood colored, cotton, fit and flare dress with long sleeves made of lace. The hemline hit just above her knees and the neckline was a V-neck that complimented her graceful décolletage. They’d chosen a pair of nude pumps to go with it. There wasn’t a makeup store in the outlets, so Scott took her to the JCPenny Sephora a few miles away to get a quick makeover. He pulled half of her hair back and pinned it with a jeweled bobby pin he’d grabbed from JCPenny.
“Ok, my work is done. Let’s get you to your date, Cinderella.” Scott declared.
“Does that make you my fairy godmother?” Kate asked, following Scott out to the car.
“Of course it does.” He held the door open for her before climbing into the driver’s side. After he put in the address on his GPS and started driving, he said, “Kat, I gotta tell you, I’ve never seen my brother happier. It’s hard to believe that it’s only been two weeks since you guys met.” “I have a hard time believing that myself.”
Scott glanced at her. “I don’t want to scare you away because I like you a lot. You make my brother happy. I just feel like I should at least give you a heads up about his lifestyle.” She nodded, trying not to seem nervous. “It’s not exactly easy to deal with. Well, it’s not always easy to deal with. Most days are good, but he is away a lot and people pull his attention in a million directions at once. Sometimes he forgets to even just check in with the people he cares about. It can be a little frustrating. Then there’s the tabloids and the paparazzi. They’re not all nice. I know he’s managed to protect your identity from the media, but that’s not going to last for much longer. Hopefully they’ll leave you alone.” Kate nodded again. “Eventually he’ll take you to a premiere or a red-carpet event. You might have fun with that, though. I watched you handle the people at the show last night wanting pictures with you and you seemed pretty good at it. Being on a red carpet is basically the same thing just…. More.”
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For being honest with me.”
Scott eyed her for a moment. “Oh god! Are you going to break up with him?”
“No.” She shook her head emphatically. “No! Definitely not. I want to have a relationship with Chris. I want the bad with the good. I just appreciate that you didn’t sugar coat any of it.”
“I’m telling you, if you two can cope with the long distance thing, then you’ll go the distance.” Scott pulled into the parking lot and they spotted Chris waiting at the front door. The younger Evans brother reached over and gripped Kate’s hand. “I’m really glad he met you.”
Kate smiled and kissed Scott’s cheek. “I’m really glad I met him, too.”
“Go get him, Kitty.”
She laughed as she got out of the car. Chris waved at Scott as he pulled away then turned to Kate. “Wow. You look gorgeous.”
She reached up and adjusted his tie. “You don’t look too shabby yourself.” He was in a dark grey suit with a red tie that matched her dress. She suspected that Scott was to thank for that. “Did you and Scott have fun?”
“Yeah! He’s a really good shopping buddy.”
Chris laughed. “Are you ready for our big date?” He held his arm out.
“Of course.” She took it and let him lead her inside. The place was busy, but they were escorted to a small, private room in the back of the restaurant where it was quiet. Chris held her seat out for her and pushed it in before sitting down across from her.
“I’m glad we dressed up. This place is fancy.”
Kate shrugged. “At dinner time it definitely is, but around lunch time it’s a little less fancy. I’ve seen people here in jeans.”
Chris opened the menu. “So, what’s good here?”
“Everything.” She laughed as she opened her menu. “I don’t think I’ve ever had anything bad here.”
A waiter came to bring them water and see if they wanted anything else to drink. Chris decided to order a bottle of wine. The chef came out to their table and introduced himself. The man had a heavy French accent and was delighted when Kate started speaking to him in his native language. Chris watched her converse with the chef in French with a look of awe.
Kate looked at Chris. “He suggests the beef tenderloin and the salmon.”
“Salmon for the lady and beef for the gentleman.” Chef Tournet said. “She tells me her system can no longer handle la viande rouge. Si triste, mon cher!”
“Red meat.” Kate translated.
“Oh. Right.” Chris chuckled. “Well, then that’s what I’ll get with the salad.”
“Et je vais avoir le saumon grillé d’Ecosse. Avec aux salad, aussi.”
“C’est bon! Le garçon will bring your bread tout suite.” The chef kissed her knuckles before heading back to the kitchen.
Kate looked back at Chris and laughed. “What’s wrong?”
“I didn’t know you spoke French.” Chris said.
She shrugged. “A little bit. When I worked in hotels, I met a lot of French Canadians. I had eight years of French from school, so I would talk to them in French as best I could. They always helped me where I stumbled and I ended up kind of fluent in it for a while.”
“Sounds like you’re still fluent.”
“I could probably get around Paris if I needed to.” The waiter brought out a basket of fresh baked French bread and a small plate of unsalted butter. They thanked him and each grabbed a piece. “Their bread is amazing.”
“It smells amazing.” Chris said, holding his slice under his nose. “My trainer is going to kick my ass.” He bit in and made a quiet groaning sound, crossing his eyes comically. She laughed at him and he grinned back. “It’s delicious.”
“I told you.”
“So you did.” He reached across the table and took her hand. “Kat, I am ridiculously happy that I met you.”
She blushed crimson and looked down at their clasped hands. “I’m happy I met you, too.”
“So, it’s been two weeks and you said at the end of the two weeks, you would decide if you were going to send me packing or give us a shot. I’m fairly certain I know the answer, but I would love to hear you say it.”
“Oh, I’m sending you packing. For sure. I just wanted to have some fun with Captain America.” Kate said, trying to stay dead serious. Chris just raised an eyebrow at her and she grinned. “Ok, you got me.”
He actually blew out a breath. “You almost had me. Your poker face was good.”
She laughed. “We’re going to do this, right? Try our hardest to make a long-distance relationship between us work?”
“I’m willing to put in the effort if you are.”
“Definitely.”
“I have a small request, though.”
“What’s that?”
“If I want to spend money on you, like for gifts or airplane tickets, you won’t get mad at me for it. I know you like your independence, but you’re allowed to accept gifts from people. Especially your significant other.”
“I know. I don’t mean to get pissy about it. I really don’t. It just takes me off guard.”
“That makes me sad.”
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s not your fault. It’s just what you grew up with, with your dad and everything he put you and your mom through.” Chris took a deep breath, but before he could say what was on his mind, the waiter brought their salads out. He looked down at it and cocked his head. “There’s grapes!”
Kate laughed. “Yeah. Trust me, they complement the vinaigrette dressing.”
He looked at her skeptically, but took a forkful of lettuce leaves and half a grape and popped it into his mouth. After a moment of chewing, his head began to nod in approval. “Wow. That is good.” Kate smiled and took a bite of her salad. “So, listen, I have something big to tell you.”
“The Academy finally acknowledged superhero movies and they’re giving you an Oscar for playing Cap?”
Chris laughed and shook his head. “It’s actually not about me. It’s about you.”
“Me? What did I do?”
“I sent your pictures off to some photographer friends of mine. They all really, really like your work and Danielle wanted to know if you would be willing to meet with her.”
Kate blinked at him for a minute. “Why?”
“Why does she want to meet with you?”
“Why did you send those pictures off?”
“Because your pictures are amazing. And you love taking them. Watching you this morning, baby you glowed because you were having so much fun. I loved seeing that side of you. I wanted to see if there was any advice they could give you about successfully breaking into the photography field.” He reached across the table and took her hand. “Danielle works with some of the biggest names in the world. She answered me back yesterday and raved about the pictures I sent. She really wants to meet you.”
“Why?”
“She apparently has an opening for an assistant and second camera. She loved your pictures so much, she wants to interview you.”
“This is a lot to take in.”
“I know. I’m sorry. I was just really excited about your pictures and….”
Kate gave his hand a squeeze and stood up. “I need to go to the restroom.”
“Kat….”
“I’m fine. Really. I just need to pee.” She turned and headed into the bathroom. It was empty, thankfully, and she moved into the bigger of the two stalls. Chris was handing her the opportunity of a lifetime: A chance to take pictures and learn the ins and outs of being a real photographer and be happy with her career. A chance to do something huge with her life. She shouldn’t be so freaked out about it, right?
There was a knock on the bathroom door and a moment later, the door opened and Chris said, “Kat?”
“You’re in the women’s restroom.”
“Yeah, I got that. I also get that my girlfriend is hiding in here.” Kate stood up and flushed the toilet. She walked out of the stall and over to the sinks to wash her hands. “Are you hiding?”
“I did actually have to go to the bathroom.”
“Oh.”
Kate tossed the towel in the bin and kissed him quickly. They headed back to their table and once they were seated, she looked across the table at Chris. “Ok, I was also hiding…. Just a little bit. I needed to process while I went. I wish you would have talked to me first before you sent the pictures.”
“I should have, but I didn’t send them out for you to get a job interview. I wouldn’t even presume to force that on you. I honestly just wanted them to give you advice and help you weigh your options.”
“Did your friend actually like the pictures or did she just say she liked them because you sent them to her?”
“She actually liked the pictures. Danielle doesn’t fool around. She’s not fake. She was very enthusiastic about what she saw. She sent me an email and then called me when I didn’t respond within an hour.”
“Where is she based?”
“New York.” Kate blew out a breath. He reached over and took her hand. “Kat, I really think you should go for it. You’re insanely talented and you said yourself that you feel like a drifter in your own life because you don’t know what to do with your talents.”
“This a lot, though. Like…. A lot. I mean, if I was to get the job, I would have to uproot my entire life. Leave my friends and my family. Move to a city I’ve only ever visited….” She looked at him and chuckled. “Well, I guess you know all about that.”
“A little bit.”
“I would need to talk it over with my family. It would be a big change for them, too.”
“Of course.”
“And I need to talk to Danielle, I guess…. Schedule a meeting with her for one weekend.”
“You’ll like her. I promise. I really think you’ll be amazing at it, Kat.”
“You may have too much confidence in me.”
Chris gave her a grin. “You need to have more in yourself.” He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed her knuckles.

Kate sighed as Chris ran his fingers down her arm. He pressed kisses to her shoulder as he gently pushed himself into her again. Their lovemaking was slow tonight, both of them wanting to savor every single moment. She shuddered against him as he dragged himself along that sweet spot inside of her. Turning her head, she brought his lips to hers again and again.
Chris pulled his face back when he tasted salty tears. “Please don’t cry.”
“I’m sorry.” Kate wiped them away. “I don’t mean to.”
“Kat….” His sentence trailed off as she fluttered around him. He pulled out of her and pulled her backwards to lay on her back. Moving up and settling himself between her legs, he pushed into her again.
“You’re too far away.” Kate reached up and pulled him down to her.
“I don’t want to crush you.”
“I just want to feel every inch of you.”
“We’ll see each other again soon, baby.” He brushed another tear off her cheek. “I promise you.”
“I know. These two weeks with you….” Her fingers dug into his hips as he grazed that sweet spot again. “They’ve been the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me.”
“Fuck….” He kissed her deeply. “The best is yet to come.”
“I know.”
“Do you know how lucky I am to have found you?”
She laughed, which made them both groan in pleasure at the vibrations it caused. “I think I’m the one that won the lottery.” A tear leaked out of Chris’ eye and landed on her forehead. Kate reached up and pulled his lips down to hers again. “We shouldn’t be acting like this is goodbye.”
“I want to savor you.” His teeth scraped behind her ear.
“Chris!”
He chuckled and she shuddered, raking her nails on either side of his spine. “Do you need more, baby?”
“I need you.”
“You have me.” She whimpered and Chris finally relented. He moved faster and pushed harder. Their grunts and groans became animalistic. Sweat broke out on their bodies. Finally, hours later, they laid in the moonlight and stared into each others eyes.
“How has it only been two weeks?” Chris asked, running a hand through her hair. “I feel like I’ve known you my entire life.”
“To be fair, I’ve known about you for a good portion of mine.”
He chuckled and kissed her. “That is true, but you feel what I feel, don’t you, Kat?”
Kate stroked his beard, adoring the look of hope in his eyes. “I do feel it, Chris.”
He smiled and kissed the tip of her nose. “I don’t want to leave this bed.”
“So don’t. Stay here. We can be like the grandparents in Willy Wonka.”
Chris laughed quietly, pulling her closer against him as he started to drift off. “You’re ridiculous.”
She kissed the hollow just below his neck. “You’re ridiculous, too.”

New Places, Friendly Faces (Sanny) Pt 1
Author (As known on Various sites): Lady Lover- Rockfic, Luluthechoosingcrow - AO3, theladylovingcrow - Deviantart and Wattpad, @sammy_bluebells - Instagram, @imacrowcawcaw - main Tumblr, @theladylovingcrow - writing/art Tumblr, @insannywestan - Sanny shipping Tumblr
Fandom: Greta Van Fleet
Pairing: Sam Kiszka/Danny Wagner (Sanny), lil bit of Danny/Ronnie but he's quickly swept away with Sam
Length: about 2k
Warnings/Tags: Alternate Universe, Diner AU, No band AU, fluff, some angst, awkwardness, first dates, you know the ones where person A's date is failing and person B comes and sits with them, sorry i forgot what its called but that, hand holding, flirting, Sanny
Summary: Danny was nervous; he had been building up the courage for *weeks* to arrange a date, and now.... He wasn't quite sure what to think of the situation he found himself in. The night certainly wasn't going as he had expected it to - and his emotions had never ridden a roller coaster this fast. Hell, the beautiful angel holding his hand wasn't even the one he had arranged to meet 2 hours ago.
Author's Notes: I don't know what inspired me to do this but I'm very very happy with how it's turning out (and I've never written a longer-ish multi chapter story before, so this is interesting!) I would hate for Danny to not know the Kiszkas growing up, but hey I think I made their first meeting pretty damn cute!
Also, just FYI this is set roughly in late January of whatever year, so the twins are supposed to be 20, Ronnie is 18 I think, Danny just turned 18, and Sam is 17 (I think I did all the math right but idk) HOWEVER it wasn't until I finished that I realized I absolutely did not make their appearances congruent with what they would have looked like then.... Sam and Danny look like 2018 ish but the twins also look like their high school selves :( Idk sorry
Also, because Sam is 17, this will not be posted on Rockfic and will be marked as underage, though I'm not planning for it to get dirty
---------------
Danny had been taping his foot for the past fifteen minutes.
He usually didn't do that, it wasn't his nervous tick of non-choice, but Michelle hadn't showed up yet, and it was nearing eight.
Checking his watch, Danny watched the hand tick to 7:58 and then looked up, peering around the restaurant he was in.
Diner, he corrected himself. It was a homey, 1960's American diner, a little more exposed timbers and bear carvings than checkered tiles and jukeboxes, but that's what you got in Michigan. The building was low and sturdy, a log structure with a river rock chimney over the grills in back. Every single wall was decorated with various signed pictures of celebrities that had passed through, local newspaper articles about Gerald and Fern's Homestyle Grill, old handsaws, vintage pop signs, and a million other trinkets and posters chosen by the owners (Gerald and Fern, he assumed, though they'd probably passed on considering how old the place looked to be).
It was a nice restaurant, Danny thought; the atmosphere was welcoming and calm despite the occasional clamor from the kitchen, and the decor was very interesting to look at. Plus, the waitress that had directed him to a window booth and brought him some water was just gorgeous.
'Don't think that! You're on a date, idiot' Danny scolded himself, shaking his head. Well, he was technically waiting for the date to start, seeing as she hadn't showed up yet. But, he still shouldn't be admiring another girl like that when his wasn't there - that would just make him an asshole.
But maybe Michelle was a little bit of an asshole because she said she'd meet him at 7 o'clock and it was now 8:06- 'Stop. It.' Danny scolded himself again, mentally smacking himself upside the head.
'Didn't your mother ever tell you to assume the best of people?' One voice asked.
'Of course!' Another Danny answered.
'Well, then, she probably got stuck in traffic, or her dog threw up in her car, or she hit a bad pothole, or her mom made her go to the store, or-'
'Okay, I get it! She probably doesn't mean to be so late,' Danny conceded, concluding the conversation he was having with himself. Maybe the waitress was right and he had been sitting there by himself for a little too long.
Of course, being the nice girl she was, the waitress - Ronnie her name was Ronnie - had stopped by periodically whenever she had a minute to chat with him or finally bring him some coffee after he had given in to the craving.
Danny looked down at the small bouquet wilting on the table and sighed. Looked like this date was a bust, just like the few others he'd attempted, and he'd actually been very excited to see her. In fact, it was Michelle who had suggested this Gerald's Grill when he had shyly asked her out in Biology.
He had finally made up his mind to just stop wasting Ronnie's time and go home when a group of boys came trouping in, wet from the snow but in exuberant spirits and, apparently, "In great need of some refreshment, Ronnie dear!"
That made him want to pack up and get out even faster because, honestly, he didn't need any more knowing looks or judgement right now, but the last boy to walk in made him freeze with his coat halfway on.
The kid looked about Danny's age, roughly the same height but a whole lot skinnier. He had on skin tight jeans, scuffed hiking boots, and a red woolen coat. When he turned to talk to Ronnie, Danny could see the Tom Petty hoodie beneath the jacket and some silver necklaces.
'Nice,' he thought, 'seems like a cool guy: good taste in music and fashion.'
Also, 'Fucking gorgeous'.
What made him pause his leaving, though, wasnt the guy's body but his face - his sculpted brows, insanely high cheekbones, pink lips, and long lashes; all framed by the healthiest looking head of hair Danny had ever seen, second only to his own, or possibly one of the guy's he had come in with (the one who yelled for Ronnie) that had rather impressive, long curls styled to look like 70's mutton chops. There was something naggingly familiar about his features, but Danny couldn't place it.
Ronnie rolled her eyes and pointed the group of boys to a large table in the Eastern corner of the diner.
She snagged some menus and followed behind them, though another guy, this one also with long hair (he was having some competition here) grown out Justin Beiber style (okay, maybe not) said; "We don't need those, Ronnie, I'm pretty sure Sammy here has the whole menu memorized by now. Right, Sam-a-lam-a?"
The intruiging boy nodded, starting to recite off what sounded like a very accurate, detailed account of the diner's menu, prices and everything. Danny was surprised at the slight raspy, smokers quality of his voice, but it was pleasant, in a way.
After the fourth item or so, Ronnie stopped "Sammy" with a swat to the shoulder, shaking her heading and muttering "stupid genius" under her breath. He grinned up at her, wiggling his eyebrows and asking for a round of Vernors, pretty please, Ronnie-kins.
Holy shit, they were siblings! That's what had been buzzing at the back of his head for the past couple minutes; those mouths and cheekbones, seductive eyes, that lovely hair. The guy was Ronnie's brother (and no wonder he was so beautiful then).
Squinting, Danny watched the party in the corner. Two of the other guys, 70's hair and Justin Beiber (though he felt bad calling him that since he seemed cool and, hey, he'd had the same 'do when trying to grow his out) were laughing at something Ronnie said, leaning on each other and behaving the exact same way, down to their blinks.
Twins! Danny could tell because he had two cousins, also twins, that acted exactly like that. Wait, though.... they looked awfully similar to-
More siblings?! Jesus, how many kids did this family have? He hoped the four were all, for the sake of their parents.
He guessed that the twins were a little older, so either "Sammy" or Ronnie had to be the youngest, though they all looked awfully similar in age.
'Seriously, how do their parents handle that?' Especially with the attractive, flirty twins, beautiful daughter, and the super smart supermodel - it had to be several handfuls raising a house like that. Danny suddenly felt a bit more sympathy for his parents, even with just having to deal with him and his little sister.
Ronnie sashayed away, calling over her shoulder for the boys to keep it down. They all hooted and hollered in response, seeing as Danny was the only other patron to bother at the moment.
Danny slowly sat back down, curious as to what interesting conversations he would hear from the group. The twin with curly hair was currently talking to a larger guy on the other side of the table about the "carefully curated sensuality" of Led Zeppelin's Prescence, which alone made him want to stay.
Not to mention, he could continue to observe the hot guy that was immediately fascinating him like few people did. Danny wasn't deluded enough to think it was love at first sight - though it was definitely a fair amount of lust - but there was something about the other boy that made him want to track his every move down to the blinking of his eyes.
"Woah there, creepy much? Chill out, he probably doesn't even like guys anyways," Danny muttered to himself, hoping that his staring wasn't obvious enough to make "Sammy" aware of it. He loved to people watch - and admire, but hated the uncomfortable confrontation of acknowledging that he had been doing so.
Supermodel boy twisted in his chair, looking at one of the many things on the wall - though it made Danny's breath catch because, could he tell? - when he caught Danny's eye. He smiled at Danny, making him smile a little tightly and nod in return.
At that moment, Ronnie came out of the back with a platter of glass pop bottles and a notebook tucked into her apron pocket, using her hip to close the swinging half-door to the area behind the counter. She smiled at Danny as he passed, murmuring a soft "I'll be right back with you," before continuing on to her brothers' table.
Gorgeous boy laughed - a surprisingly obnoxious, though maybe endearing, braying one - and reached out a fine boned hand, plucking a bottle from the tray before she could set it down. He took a long swallow, throat visibly working and eyes half closed, head tipped back. Danny quickly averted his own eyes unless he started drooling onto the tabletop.
Ronnie came over to him after a minute, refilling his coffee and insisting that she get him a piece of pie, on the house. He didn't have the heart to tell her no, not after more than an hour of sitting there pitifully, and especially not now that he knew her gorgeous brothers (or at least one of them, the prettiest, too) knew he was there. It would be incredibly embarrassing for them to know that he was stood up and alone; Danny wanted to give off a good impression, for some reason.
Ronnie walked away again, hips swaying, and disappeared into the back. "Sammy" laughed at the table in the corner and Danny's eyes shot to him, watching how he played with his straw between those two pillowy lips.
He started sweating a little bit, considering who he thought was more attractive (not like either of them would be interested in him, but). Ronnie was curvy and kind and beautiful, but Sam was lean and charismatic and had the most lovely facial structure Danny had ever seen.
'Ugh, bisexual problems', Danny thought. No one else would have know what he was talking about if they were there, though, since he had never mentioned it to his parents nor his few friends.
He wondered, idly - because he really was out of their league and it would never, ever happen - what his family would think if he brought either of them home. Ronnie would be sure to elicit absolute delight from his mother after her admonishment for getting a girlfriend in the first place (despite the fact that he was allowed to do what he wanted now that he was 18, Danny's mom still saw him as her little boy). Ronnie's brother, he wasn't sure; it's not like they were homophobic, but Danny was certain that him bringing home a guy out of nowhere would be quite the shock.
They'd warm up to Sam (he didn't want to call him "Sammy"; it felt too familiar to he polite, though he did like that), he was sure. His parents would be impressed by his intelligence and be charmed by his jokes, and tell Danny that they were glad he had found such a nice boyfriend.
Danny drifted off into a daydream of what it would be like to date Sam, to take him to family holiday meals and go out hiking with him and cuddle up on a late winter afternoon like this one. He rested his head on his hand, letting his eyes go unfocused as he envisioned the imaginary world in which he had an 11/10 boyfriend.
"Hey, I've got your pie. Mind if I sit and eat mine with you?"
