You know what I really like? That Junior and the little ghost boy were both clearly in on the whole "I possess you to talk through you" thing. Like when Junior takes The Many-Named Old Man to the attic, or when he says a quick "come on" to Jim, giving him the green light for possession. They faced a problem of a ghost having unresolved business and mutually agreed on a way to solve it. Jim was mute, yet he STILL found a way to properly communicate his issue and story and wants to Junior, and was clearly being very careful with the whole posession thing.

*after everyone had gone inside, telemachus left to go to his room to change while penelope and odysseus headed to theirs*
*penelope had help getting changed/ready from her handmaiden, however odysseus doesn’t start changing, instead he’s just sitting on a lounge chair looking out the window at the sun setting*
penelope: *now ready for the evening*
penelope: *to her handmaiden* thank you for your help. 
penelope: *smiles as she’s walking to the bedroom door with her* 
penelope: *remembers something* oh! please let the others know to make sure you all grab yourself enough to eat after all the hard work the past couple of days! or take some of the remaining fish & meat home to your families!
penelope: *waves goodbye as her handmaiden leaves the room*
penelope: *closes the door and turns to face odysseus*
odysseus: *still staring out the window*
penelope: odysseus?
odysseus: *no response*
penelope: *understands he doesn’t mean to ignore her* 
penelope: *slowly walks towards him* my love, it's just you and i now
odysseus: *finally realises penelope was calling out to him* 
odysseus: *turns his head to her* i’m sorry penelope
odysseus: *looks her up and down, always amazed by the beauty of his wife*
penelope: *giggles as she see the lovestruck look on odysseus face*
penelope: *stops just in front of him and twirls around*
penelope: see something you like?
odysseus: *standing up and pulls her into him by her waist* 
odysseus: always *goes in for a kiss*
penelope: *accepts the kiss*
penelope: *giggles when odysseus keeps planting kisses all over her face*
penelope: my dear husband, stop distracting me! 
penelope: it’s time for you to get ready.
odysseus: *stops the kisses and looks down and sighs*
penelope: *cups his cheek with her hand and turns his face back to hers* 
penelope: you know i’m not going to force you to wear anything you don’t want to, right?
odysseus: *leans into her hand* i know, i know…
odysseus: it’s so silly of me isn’t, it’s just clothing-
penelope: *now holding his face with both her hands* nothing is silly, not if it makes you uncomfortable my love
odysseus: *smiles* i love you
penelope: *smiles back* i love you too
penelope: *lets his face go* now, what would you like to wear tonight? 
odysseus: *looking at the tyrian purple pelops she's wearing* i would like to match my beautiful wife
penelope: *knows she had a chiton made for him at the same time she had her pelops made* ok, let's get you matching then
*once odysseus is ready, him and penelope leave their room and make their way to the palace entrance ready to greet their dinner guests*
*when they arrive, they see telemachus; who is dressed in more ‘princely’ attire than his usual day-to-day clothing, talking to athena who arrived not long ago*
telemachus: oh! mother, father, you're ready!
athena: *turning to them*
athena: *smiling* good evening
penelope: *smiles back* good evening lady athena
athena: please penelope, i think we’ve known each other long enough… especially after everything in the past year
athena: just athena is fine
penelope: *smiles* sure…athena
odysseus: *looking at athena* 
odysseus: it’s still so weird not seeing you in all your armour
athena: *laughs* well i thought the occasion didn’t require it
*the four of them continue talking for a little bit*
athena: i see that my uncle hasn’t arrived yet.
telemachus: *turns to his father* you told him it was tonight right?
odysseus: *nods* i did
odysseus: *thinks for moment and sighs* 
odysseus: he’s not going to come to this entrance… but i know where he’ll be
athena: i’ll go with you to get him
telemachus: me too!
penelope: *laughs* well i guess i might as well join too
odysseus: let’s go then
*they all head in the direction of the entrance for the palace gardens*
odysseus: *stops them before they all head outside* ok maybe we don’t all need to go down to the sea
odysseus: i’ll go meet him and we’ll both join you shortly
*telemachus, penelope and athena wait by the entrance talking amongst themselves, while odysseus makes his way down to the palace cove*
*odysseus arrives at the cove when he sees poseidon making his way out of the water*
poseidon: *sees odysseus* 
poseidon: king of ithaca
odysseus: *deadpan expression* poseidon.
poseidon: *rolls his eyes at odysseus, for the clear lack of title for him*
odysseus: the others are waiting, shall we get going?
poseidon: *about to agree when he remembers about the arrow*
poseidon: wai- uh i mean, i have a question before we leave…
odysseus: *eyebrow raised* 
poseidon: you're not… i don’t know, mad or angry with me or the sea’s inhabitants by any chance?
odysseus: huh?
poseidon: *pinches the bridge of his nose* has the sea or i, done anything to offend you in the past day?
odysseus: *now confused* no?
poseidon: *drops his hand from his face and then points at odysseus* then why did you shoot me?!
odysseus: *even more confused* shoot yo- whAT?
poseidon: *reaches into his chiton and pulls out the arrow he kept there* 
poseidon: *shows the arrow to odysseus* please tell me then, what have i done that's got you shooting arrows at the sea?
odysseus: *looking at the arrow, then up to poseidon* i've not shot any arrows at the sea? 
odysseus: also, who shoots arrows into the sea?!
poseidon: *hands up in the air in agreement, the arrow being thrown behind him* 
poseidon: that's what i said! but who else would it be? it hit the waters of this cove, so unless-
odysseus: *suddenly realises where the arrow has come from*
odysseus: *starts laughing*
poseidon: *brings his hands down and narrows his eyes at odysseus* what is so funny?
odysseus: *wiping a tear away from his eye from laughing so much* my son
poseidon: *now his turn to be confused* huh?
odysseus: *having collected himself * my son, he shot the arrow during archery practice
poseidon: *eyebrow raised* and you're teaching your son to shoot the sea… because?
odysseus: *rolls his eyes* it was an accident, my wife startled him and he misfired. 
odysseus: *lets out a tiny chuckle* i can’t believe it made its way to the sea though 
poseidon: oh
odysseus: yeah ‘oh’ 
odysseus: why would you think i’d shoot the sea anyway? 
poseidon: *arms now crossed and looking away from odysseus* 
poseidon: who knows with you…
odysseus : *smirking* oh poseidon…i’d just use other ways to get your attention
poseidon: *whips his head back to odysseus* 
poseidon: *sees odysseus’ shit-eating grin*
poseidon: oh be quiet… what if i arrived early? 
poseidon: *points at himself* i could have been hit!
odysseus: *snorts* oh please… an single arrow wouldn't kill you
odysseus: besides we both know you've been impaled with worse
odysseus: *turns to head back up to the palace* anyways, let's head up to the others
poseidon: *realising what odysseus said* wait-
poseidon: odysseus of ithaca!
odysseus: *just keeps walking ignoring poseidon’s outburst*
poseidon: *grumbles under his breath but swiftly walks to catch up odysseus* 
*odysseus & poseidon make their way to the palace garden entrance where now only athena is waiting*
odysseus: *looking to athena* where-
athena: *already knows what odysseus is going to ask* they headed to the dining hall.
athena: telemachus wanted to check some final things and penelope left to accompany him.
odysseus: *nods at her explanation*
athena: *turns to look at poseidon*
athena: *nods head at poseidon* uncle
poseidon: *blank look on his face* athena.
athena: *now looking at her nails* not seen you since you were up on olympus in apollo’s infirmary…
athena: *looks back at poseidon and grins* speaking of which… how’s your chest?
poseidon: *scoffs and crosses his arms* fine.
poseidon: *suddenly smirks back* need i remind you that you were also there for a similar  reason…how’s your face?
athena: *grin has left her face and now narrows her eyes at poseidon*
odysseus: *not wanting to deal with two bickering gods* 
odysseus: *sighs*
odysseus: *claps his hands together sharply* OK! how about we don’t fight in my palace, yeah?
odysseus: besides, telemachus has been extremely excited about tonight’s dinner, so i do not want anything ruining it…
odysseus: *makes sure to look at both of them*
odysseus: *red eyes appear & disappear in the blink of an eye*
odysseus: got it?
athena: *now semi-understands why poseidon listened to odysseus ‘requests’* uh-
poseidon: *putting an arm around athena’s shoulders* yep, no arguing here!
poseidon: *turns his head towards athena* isn’t that right my dear niece?
athena: *stares at poseidon in disbelief at the words ‘dear niece’*
athena: *turns to odysseus* you can’t be seri-
odysseus: *raises his eyebrow*
athena: *sighs* sure, no fighting in the palace
odysseus: *smiles* good. now i know you know where the dining hall is located athena, but poseidon doesn’t.
odysseus: so, if you’ll both please follow me.
odysseus: *starts walking down the hall*
athena: *shrugs poseidon’s arm off in disgust and follows odysseus*
poseidon: *sighs and also follows odysseus*

STRANGE NOISES FROM THE HOLE IN THE WALL HEADCANONS/INTERPRETATIONS UHHH OBVIOUS SPOILERS. CLARISSA CENTRIC CAUSE. HOLY SHIT
clarissa is to locomotion as clara is to the nutcracker. she's the kid who dreamed him into existence hundreds of years ago. i know he says he's older than the devil - i think that's still plausible, he's existed since thought but wasn't attached to the Silver Line or brought into physical existence until clarissa, lonely or in danger or just bored, imagined a world where she could escape from her everyday life and live as a grown-up(? maybe? since benjamin/timothy/billy seemed to age up as soon as he went through the portal?), with freedom and whimsy and eventually a relationship with the friendly driver.
why do i say this? because otherwise im really fucking confused lmao, that first scene where clarissa and loco are introduced is strange in the context of the end of the play. they seem to have known each other for a good while before they get on the train. they act like a young couple who's stumbled upon the silver line as an escape from danger and now they're excited for their new life in a new, safe world. except that loco also says he's been driving the train for years.
(looking back, that very much feels like a scenario from a child's imagination - or perhaps a dream - where of course he's been doing this for years, that's his job, but of course they're glad they've found the train together, this is a new experience for her so it's just an extension of her perspective)
but clara is, she says, a child when she gets on the train. idk how old "little girl" is, but if we run with this headcanon and also assume that the timeline is both linear and literal, she's imagining herself in some form of a sexual relationship with loco at a pretty young age.
i posit that this can be reconciled in several ways (some more disturbing or inappropriate than others), but one thing that could be considered is that the first scene where loco and clarissa are introduced is symbolic of their relationship over the course of the train's history. depending on how old clarissa was when she first dreamt the world into existence, she might not have even been very aware of loco, and spent her time just enjoying the escapism or whatever. after a few years or however long, she starts to get older and decides to learn how she's actually done this, maybe spends a long time trying to understand exactly what's going on. maybe her research leads her to a relationship with loco, i don't know. they do get on the train together, maybe, when they're both young (or, well, relatively speaking) and new to the world, and loco eventually has been driving the train for years and years and clarissa makes it a bit more tolerable with some companionship after a long lonely time. but those things don't happen simultaneously, because i think those things don't really work simultaneously. that scene is a sort of speedrun/amalgamation of how the two of them have interacted over the years. and yeah i guess that means they fucked at one point in there
(im going to be transparent, some of that is a bit of cope/rationalization. i think loco and the conductor are very exes/begrudging coworkers vibes, but i do like clarissa and loco together as well - unsettlingly powerful girl x eldritch being with a soft spot is a very good trope. and im trying to make it work out okay? give me a break lol. you don't have to agree with me on this, but once i see a luke and tom couple with a fun and compelling dynamic i will not let them go even if the ethics get a bit hard to explain later on. sorry, anyways moving on)
additionally, and i probably should have said this earlier, a reason i think this whole nutcracker theory holds up is because clarissa holds a sort of unique power in the world. she's been on the silver line for hundreds of real-years, who knows how many train-years, and still remembers her name and something of her old life. loco isn't hostile to her, even confirming her memory of her name and reminding her of her birthdate. with everyone else (ex. benjamin), he actively discourages them from remembering their lives. despite seemingly being one of the oldest passengers, she doesn't transform for hundreds of years. she obviously has some significance.
you know how that ties in? if this is clarissa's world, if her mind is what created the whole thing, then i think it makes sense to assume it's tied to her. as she begins to question her surroundings, then panic as she realizes she can't leave, her emotional and/or mental state becomes less stable, less utopic, less perfect. the dream begins to turn into a nightmare. and it becomes. well. an ouroboros. the snake eats its own tail and the train goes in circles and the escapist fantasy clarissa once loved becomes a prison of her own design. trapped in the very thing that was supposed to save her.
maybe that's why anthony and benjamin can get out when they do - as clarissa's world decays, as she finally begins to become part of the nightmare, as she melds with the train, the world has to shift a bit. it's reaching the point of no return - once clarissa has been fully sucked in, the train will never stop again. falling into an infinite nothing. but in that moment, there's one final chance for the conductor to stall locomotion, one final leap that could at last pull benjamin and anthony and everyone who's been sucked in by clarissa's black hole of a nightmare out of the portal and back into the real world.
and now, clarissa has lost three hundred years of a life that should never have lasted so long. gained perhaps thousands of years of memories of joy and connection and despair and panic and forever forever forever. and she is once again trapped in a vessel of her own making - her body is that of the child she has not been for lifetimes. her world is dead and gone - not just the world she created, but the world she escaped from as well. what of locomotion, that brief flash of connection? does he even exist anymore? who is she, now? who was she? where can she possibly go from here?

I inflicted this in the discord so I will inflict it on Tumblr as well: SFTH Character Ghost Hunting Show AU
(Brought to you by a Phasmophobia stream I recently watched)
The working cast is
Titch (TUA) - the skeptic/host
Derek (TUA) - camera man
Samantha (Egbert’s Wife, TLW) - resident medium
Jimmy (TSP) - scaredy cat/intern
Older!Julian (PoH) - supernatural informationist/other intern
Titch gets away from the family business to run a local history/nature show but ends up turning into a ghost hunting show. He meets Derek as a camera man first. Julian was his first hire followed by Samantha and, recently, Jimmy who is doing a summer internship.
Julian’s play takes place and so does Jimmy’s. After the events of TSP, Jimmy was advised to take a leave of absence. He was originally hired to be a body guard/security specialist but that plan went off the rails. Titch still hired him though since the kid seemed spooked in his own skin.
Samantha’s play doesn’t take place but she still has her family’s weird family values and dynamics. Egbert’s is in the military and Samantha didn’t want the life of a military wife. She left everything and took the first supernatural-esque job because 1) it’s easy money and 2) she’s the most goddamn authentic “medium” then any other schnub they might hire.
Extra shit:
If I ever write this, it would open up in a tour of various haunts in (unspecified country so I can use both European and American sites since space is fake). They’re on episode 10 of this show and every other one was a dud.
Titch ensures the show is 100% honest and talks about things like “that previous house had a gas leak, people ate shrooms near here, this building’s wiring is way out of code.” He does play the skeptic after all.
Jimmy overreacts to everything but he’s also the fan favorite. It also adds a nice comedy to everything.
Samantha is pretty done with everyone. She makes sure Jimmy and Julian don’t get into trouble like the big sister she is.
Julian is a baby duck by Titch’s side and does want to pursue a career in supernatural television (mostly because I love the “TV Show” bit with Father Andrews haha).
Derek is the camera man/video editor. He’s 100% responsible why most of the scenes focus on Titch even if he’s not the main focus of the shot. That’s why he makes sure he’s the editor so nobody has to see all of that.
Now their show is nearly the end of its current run and no actual supernatural stuff. (Though Samantha was very insistent there were some in Episode 3.) Episode 10’s stop?
The Langbrook Manor, home to the mysterious deaths of the Langbrook family and the equally mysterious disappearance of the previous Lady, Annabelle.
Their “no supernatural” streak ends there.
This has been on my thoughts all night.
