Couldn’t fit these photos because of the limit. Look at my previous post for the finished restoration. “Before and after photos. These tables are probably from the 1930’s to 40’s. The tops were stripped and and got new French polish and a varnish coat over the top for durability ( they are used at a funeral home and have plants and arrangements on them often). So in between benches, striping trim, estimates, and CAD I’ve been picking away at refinishing and repairing this table. . Now I thought this fade effect on the veneer was achieved by putting the dark portion of the piece in hot sand. Essentially a controlled burning. But as I stripped the shellac away with denatured alcohol it left me with the second picture. Very glad I was wise enough to leave one side for reference. . After searching around on the internet and finding nothing on how to achieve this effect I just went for it whit two colors of shellac (one dyed) and it looks like it will turn out pretty good!
