Remus and Regulus get married in the Lupins' backyard that had been transformed into the most heavenly place. Hope had spent months growing her famous flowers, stories told in each of the blooms, her son's favorite gardenias and Regulus' white chrysanthemums. The pink carnations Remus bought for their first ever date, and roses the same color of the one that was on the restaurant table Regulus had proposed two years before.

Lyall spent a month building the archway his son had drawn at five years old on the ground while his father tended to the sheep, his eyes alight as he showed him the place he was going to get married at when he grows up. The page had been yellowed when he fished it out the night after Regulus stopped by to ask for his permission, his hand shaky as he straightened the crumpled edges. Lyall made sure to add all the little carvings into the wood, his hands steady as he hid words of love and pride in the Celtic swirls.

Remus and Regulus are teary eyed and smiling as they say their vows, no eye dry as the guests couldn't help but feel the magic of that moment, the ethereal smell of the flowers, the majestic archway that Remus had stared at with wide eyes when he walked down the aisle, turning around to see a small smile on his dad's face.

And then, true to a lupin family tradition, the newlywed couple plant a tree together. Regulus had learned about that the first time he came to visit his boyfriend's parents, seeing the high sycamore tree from the kitchen window that Hope told him she and Lyall had planted twenty five years ago on their wedding day.

Theirs is an apple tree, Regulus insisted that his choice was based on their meaning in Greek mythology, but Remus remembered what Regulus had once told him on one of their first dates, that in his dream house, one with blue shutters and stained glass windows, there is a small cozy garden with an aplle tree that blooms in autumn.

Ten years later, Regulus is standing in the kitchen door, a small smile on his face, watching his husband carry their daughter on his shoulders so she could pick the first apple of the season.
