Kadokawa Musashino Museum, Tokorozawa, Saitama.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In case you don't know, Kadokawa is pretty much a very large Japanese publisher for mangas, light novels, magazines, books in general and even produces it's own anime.
They opened a museum in recent years designed by one of Japan's most popular architects, Kuma Kengo.
It is located in Tokorozawa's Sakura town wich is a large complex full of restaurants, shops and even shrines. You can spend an entire day there and I highly recommend you do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The standard ticket allows you to stay all day if you wanted to, which is fantastic for the price.
Here's the price details.
Tumblr media
I recommend you select a ticket that includes the "Bookshelf Theater", it's a little projection mapping show in one of the large bookshelves of the museum, while it’s nothing impressive, it's a really nice little show and it doesn't add much cost to your ticket.
Tumblr media
The official website has an english version and it does take foreign credit cards, so getting tickets it's fairly harmless. Also by getting them online you get to skip the line, which is also a nice perk.
The museum itself it's basically a collection of all their printed books, from very rare ones, to full on mangas and light novel collections.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The good part is that you can actually take the books and read them, or look at them at least (they're all in Japanese), for as long as you like. They have a bunch of sitting areas just for you relax and enjoy your reading time.
Tumblr media
They also have seasonal exhibitions which are pretty cool.
At the time I visited, they had an Egyptian exhibit. It was definitely not what I expected by looking at the website's poster lol, but in a good way.
It was a collection of all their books that had some sort of Egyptian influence and there were so many manga I had no idea existed, it was a pretty interesting exhibit, I recommend you check the one they have when you go if you have the time.
Tumblr media
The area is also very nicely decorated with all sorts of life size statues of popular characters and even in between the books they have cute "home like" displays using nendroids and other figurines.

It's also worth noting, on the way to the museum from the train station, they set up a collection of forty something manhole covers with popular Kadokawa series, this one was my favorite by far, but I'm sure you'll be able to find yours along the way.
Tumblr media
In my own experience I would totally recommend giving it a visit even if you can't read japanese. If you are an anime fan you will for sure enjoy your time there, and even if you aren't, there's also all sorts of books and other Japanese culture related activities to do around the museum and the Sakura town area.
It's not far if you stay at Omiya or Kawagoe even, but you can also do it from Tokyo, it's a bit over an hour long train ride, but nothing crazy.
If you want to see more about this place and other things to do around the Saitama area please check my Youtube video ≽^•⩊•^≼

LINKTOBER DAY 20: ZORA WELLSPRING
Sidon plays packhorse. Link and Zelda play with electricity and water. Everybody leaves happy except for the fried aerocuda.
(Something’s in the water temple.)
This is a self indulgent totk au called Familiar Familiar where link and zelda travel through upheaval hyrule! Masterpost can be found here:
