The thing about Fei Du's "I don't have trauma" statement is that he's not even lying. He genuinely doesn't clock that all this stuff he's learnt of independently also applies to himself.

There's this big disconnect between his body and his mind at times, where he reacts in a certain way, but explicitly doesn't understand why. Sometimes it's the phantom pressure against his neck, with seemingly no cause because he's repressed the origin. When he's upset about Tao Ran being injured, but logic dictates there's nothing he can do, and so he acts calm despite the racing heart he doesn't acknowledge.

But it also applies to happier moments too. There are a few times when he goes along with Luo Wenzhou's requests when he has zero reason to or finds himself smiling after an interaction and is entirely bemused as to why.

For all Fei Du understands his fronts and masks, he doesn't actually have a solid grasp on what's beneath that. To him, it's sheer void, so of course, he fills it with suppositions of what lurks in this abyss. Colour in that he keeps people at a distance and his father wanted to make him a monster in his image, and it's no surprise that he believes the same of himself.
