hi!!! do you have favorite bl movies (maybe with happy endings too)?👀❤️
Top 10 BL Movies
(as of end of 2024, in no particular order)
My personal favorites will always have HEAs (or at least HFN). I don't love ambiguous endings and I hate sad ones. I'm going to include the Korean stuff that has been recut as movies, because I can.
Tumblr media
1 Seven Days
Japan 2015
AKA Seven Days: Monday-Thursday AND Seven Days: Friday-Sunday
This is a cheat as it's 2 movies, but that's still less run time than your bog standard marvel tent pole these days, so it counts.
One of the best live action yaois ever made, with perfectly structured angst, fantastic characters and acting, and no problematic tropes. The leads have excellent chemistry although it’s low heat there’s still some really cute mutual kisses.
Tumblr media
2 Can I Buy Your Love From A Vending Machine
AKA Sono Koi, Jihanki de Kaemasu ka? AKA Vending Machine Sabi Koi
Japan 2023
This movie is utterly adorable, impossibly awkward, and kinda old fashioned. About a cute nerdy little office worker (he's out!) who has a big'ol crush on the tall hulking vending machine guy. They fall in love. And that’s it. And it’s charming. There’s some first name eroticism (because Japan) and there's emphasis on communication (so not Japan) which turns this into an organically loving and talkative relationship. There’s a bit of an age gap and our office cutie may or may not have a muscles fetish (the hot bod, not the shellfish) because (if I’ve told you once I’ve told you 1 million times) Japan always goes kinky. And you know what, I loved it.
Tumblr media
3 Restart After Come Back Home
AKA Risutato wa tadaima no ato de
Japan 2020
Atmospheric study in rural Japan meets complex family dynamics built on a romance framework of city boy meets country boy, grumpy/sunshine. It’s beautiful and icy sweet. Slow moving in places but ultimately worth the patience, low heat, low angst, and stunning.
Tumblr media
4 His
Japan 2020
His is about being a grown adult and still struggling with coming out. It addresses the consequences choosing a life disingenuous to identity. Nagisa turns up on Shun’s doorstep with his precocious daughter in tow. This is a touch confusing to Shun since they were each others first love and Nagisa broke his heart. Shun has retreated from society, rejecting the world before it can reject him because without Nagisa he never had a reason to fight. Nagisa went the opposite, pretending to be something he was not, ending up with a daughter he adores and a wife who hates him. This movie is beautiful and the setting is unique and interesting but I'm not wild about the ending, it's HFN (happy for now). Honestly, I think I mostly liked this because I have a mad crush on Miyazawa Hio (Shun).
Tumblr media
5 After Sundown
AKA Saengrawi
Thailand 2023
It's from Mandee and horror (neither really my thing), yet I liked it. It's oddly sweet and wholesome, for a ghost story. Phloeng and Rawee enter into an arranged marriage for confusing prophetic reasons. Twists of fate demand that they solve the mystery of a past that is haunting Phloeng's family and harming Rawee. Honestly, it makes no actual sense, but it's kinda historical, and very pretty, so I enjoyed it more than I should.
Korean BL that aired as shows but are cut together as movies & great
In some of these cases the movies are better than the originals, in some they are exactly the same.
Tumblr media
6 Color Rush
2021
A unique paranormal twist elevates this classic high school drama into a pitch-perfect allegory for the queer coming out experience and one of the best BLs of all time (I will fight you on this).
Tumblr media
7 Semantic Error
2022
The ultimate enemies to lovers, also the prettiest. Sexy older boy discovers pouty younger boy has outed him as a slacker, starts out bullying him, accidentally falls madly in love instead. Korea hits it entirely out of the Parks by doing a university BL with everything we expect from BL just done exactly right. Korea's signature quality executed perfectly with added bonus good story, great pacing, stunning visuals, and fantastic chemistry. You cannot ask for more from a BL, let alone a KBL.
Tumblr media
8 To My Star
2021
Hwang Da Seul directing this show about a neurotic actor (actual puppy) who takes refuge with a grumpy chef resulting in sparks, cooking lessons, and LOVE! It’s is a touch quirky to get into, but utterly charming once it hits its stride. This is the ultimate grumpy/sunshine pairing plus the most appealing light-filled kitchen of our dreams. I adore this show so much. Limited use of BL tropes makes this feel more of a sweet contemporary gay romance between an actor plagued by scandal and the chef who accidentally adopts him, but the gentleness will appeal to fans of the BL genre.
Tumblr media
9 Long Time No See
2017
This originally aired as a series but I have only ever seen it as a movie. So I'm counting it.
Catfishing assassins on either side of a turf war fall in love not knowing they are on opposite sides. Or do they? Suspenseful plot, good fight sequences, mature characters, hot sexitimes, and even hotter beating the shit out of each other and kissing while covered in blood (this came from KOREA?), plus an HEA. One of the greatest hidden gems of the BL genre.
Tumblr media
10 Wish You: Your Melody in My Heart
2020
Set in the music industry featuring a talented singer and the pianist who falls in love with him (and his music), this is subtle and achingly adorable. High production, low heat, short run, very tame, and Korea, so all the pretty. Slow burn and lots of pining.

Updated 100 Memorable Skating Programs
Back in 2018, I created the original version of this list. (You can find the master post here.) Since 2024 marks my 30th year as an official fan of figure skating and there have been some more great programs created since the last time, I thought it was about time to update the list in honor of World Ice Skating Day. Same rules apply as last time:
Only senior competitive programs starting from the 1993-1994 season are eligible, since that's the first season I really started watching figure skating.
Each skater may only be listed once, unless a partner/discipline switch is involved.
Choice of music may also not be repeated. (Yes, there are two James Bond programs on the list, but Yuna and Wakaba use different music for the most part, so I'm letting it slide.)
I debated long and hard about whether or not I should still include programs from skaters who have proven themselves to be not so great people. I'm someone who has little difficulty separating the art from the artist, so in the end, I decided to keep them listed (although most of them got knocked down a few pegs). This list is more about the choreography than the skater anyway, although there are certainly some problematic choreographers out there, too. (Looking at you especially, Morozov!) So, just because a skater is listed doesn't mean that I'm a fan of them or that I condone their actions! I just think certain programs are still great regardless of the skaters' terrible behavior off the ice.
Choreographers are noted if known. If you know who choreographed the programs without a choreographer named, please let me know!
I've also created a handy playlist on YouTube if you don't want to click on all these links.

THE DIZI TAG GAME
Rules: Answer the questions and then tag people you want to participate! (Also tag it #The Dizi Tag Game so we can see everyone’s lists)
Tagged by: @missloislane and @aslibekroglu thank you SO SO SO much! I was planning on doing it anyway even if I was never tagged because this seemed so fun so thank you for not letting me jumping off of someone else’s post
1. your first dizi & how you discovered Turkish dramas :
So, this is a long story so TL;DR: Kiralik Ask and facebook groups.
Now, for the long story. It might have been 10 years ago now? probably less? I don’t know, since the end of highschool I have lost consciousness of time and what a year is and when it ends. Anyway, Kiralik Ask was all the rage in Italy and in the facebook groups I was in, people were talking about this and Cherry Season a lot (I’m pretty sure this wasn’t 10 years ago but I’m dramatic) and I became obsessed with all the videos and things and everything (of KA, I didn’t care for Cherry Season) BUT I did not watch it then. Years later, like maybe three years ago? maybe 2? No idea. I discovered Vatanim Sensin thanks to @rescuemeifyoucan and her posts about it and became obsessed with that as well so, like a normal person, I searched for Hileon videos on YouTube and found every single scene they were in (only Hileon scenes) and watched a lot of those videos, probably 3/4 of the first season, stayed up all night (fun fact, I went to sleep at like 8 in the morning and when I woke up a couple hours later I got called and did my stage/started working at the place I’m at) and that was my initiation to Turkish shows but since I did not actually watch it, only precise scenes, that is not technically my first dizi. About 2 weeks of VS and only VS I decided that it was time to watch KA (because I found a playlist of YT of every episode from the beginning with Italian subtitles and others in English subtitles if the Italian ones were missing) so technically this is my first actual turkish dizi watched, since it is the first dizi that I have seen complete episodes of, from the first episode.
2. show(s) you’re currently watching:
Technically none but also technically thousands. So, technically (expect this word to be the most used in this post) I am currently watching Menajerimi  Ara (haven’t watched since more than two months ago probably), Alev Alev (last watched I think last month) 50m2 (again, last watched last month), Kiralik Ask (it’s been a few years actually BUT I haven’t given up on it yet and I will continue it... someday), Her Yerde Sen (last watched probably last year? Maybe start of the pandemic, maybe before that), Kuzey Yildiz (last watched I think the end of last year), Halka (I have no idea when I stopped with this honestly), Kara Para Ask (last year? maybe? Before Her Yerde Sen I think), Benim Tatli Yalanim (around the time of HYS), Kimse Bilmez (again, around HYS time). I haven’t seen any of these for some time but they are all shows that I plan to continue sooner or later. It’s all shows I loved but put aside because I found a new obsession but I do get back to them sometimes.
3. your favorite genre of dizi (romcom, mafia show, contemporary drama, historical/fantasy, etc.):
Romcom. I do like some dramas but I tend to hate almost all of the characters except a selected few and I can’t handle all that hate, my liver cannot survive it.
4. the show you rewatch (parts of) the most:
I think KA? or MA? or HYS? They are my favorite shows of the ones I have started. Also Ask 101 (the only Turkish show I have actually completed and only because it’s not 10 thousand episodes long and it’s easily available on Netflix so it’s easy to rewatch again)
5. favorite Turkish actor and actress (feel free to pick multiples):
I have this problem, it’s names, I rarely know the names of actors, if I know them I forget them, I sometimes mistake the character’s name with the actor’s name, sometimes the opposite so let’s try this and see what mess comes out:
Aybuke Pusat, the guy who played Demir on HYS, the two friends of Selin from HYS and the receptionist. Elcin (?) and Baris (?) from KA, Burcu (?), Alina, Kubilay, and the other kids from Ask 101, Dicle and Baris and Julide from MA, Hilal and Leon from VS, Cicek di Alev Alev, Cagatay Ulusoy (I remember his name! my beloved CaCa), The female protagonist of KPA (she was also in the first episode of MA which is the reason why I started that show), Hande Ercel, Kerem Bursin, Elcin (?), Melisa, the one who played the third main friend, the red headed girl, all from SCK, Ismail (?) and the actress of Yildiz from Kuzey Yildiz, also the three girls from there. Most of the cast of Hercai, although I hate more than half of the characters.
I feel so bad that I don’t remember their name. I swear I love them!
6. a show you quit before finishing:
A few. First and foremost Sefirin Kizi (couldn’t get past episode 1). Erkenci Kus (hated the direction it was going, which was in circles), Ask Laftan Anlamaz (hated hated hated the lie that guy protagonist said. Wanted to watch after but I can’t do that to myself). Sad to say but also Sen Cal Kapimi. I loved it SO MUCH and then first he does that stupid break up thing that I hate (because it similarly happened in ALS and that is the whole reason why I never finished that show so already not a good start), then it seems to be picking up and we got the amnesia thing so yeah, nope, not doing it. Afili Ask (I liked it but not enough to continue and I have to give up on a few shows). Also probably Hercai since I enjoy how it ended in season one and never felt the urge to continue.
Technically most of the answers from the 2 question apply here as well but I do intend on continuing those, these ones, however, I will not continue.
7. favorite song(s) you’ve discovered in dizi’s:
Birakman Dogru Mu 2 by Zeynep Bastik and Anil Piyanci, heard on Menajerimi Ara and the song that started my love for pop songs made in Turkey
8. the show whose plot disappointed you the most:
Sen Cal Kapimi and Ask Laftan Anlamaz are the ones that first come to mind. And Erkenci Kus. God, Erkenci Kus disappointed me SO MUCH.
9. a show that was cancelled too soon / ran too long:
Ran too long: definitely EK. And SCK (sorry not sorry, it should have ended right before the amnesia).
Cancelled too soon: I don’t usually watch shows that get cancelled soon (in the sense that I usually wait a bit before watching a show because I wouldn’t want for it to be cancelled while I am passionate about it) and technically I do not yet know if they were cancelled too soon, but I would say HYS and Benim Tatli Yalanim because I was loving them and I have less than 10-15 episodes left to watch
10. favorite character(s):
The children in every drama are my favorite so Gul (Hercai), the children in Alev Alev, the child in Sefirin Kizi (the only character to save themselves in that show except for Gediz), the girl from BTY, Bulut (?) from Dolunay. Also CeyCey (EK), Baris and Dicle from MA, basically the entire cast of SCK (I might hate the direction where this is going but I do love the characters), the main characters from ALA (except for the main male protagonist, he can choke), the main characters from Atesbocegi, Suna from BTY, Reyyan (Hercai), a lot of others, I just don’t remember the names.
11. your favorite romantic pairing(s):
ReyMir (Hercai), LeyEm (Erkenci Kuş), Edser (Sen Çal Kapımı), Defom (Kiralık Aşk), SelDem (HYS), Suna x Nejat (BTY), DicBar (MA), Bahar x Kaan (Halka), Ibo x Ayda (?) (HYS), YilKuz (Kuzey Yildiz), probably others.
12. favorite side character(s):
Cey Cey (Erkenci Kuş), Julide (MA) (I know people hate her but to the moment I’m at, I still love her), Ayda (?) (HYS), Burcu (BTY), again, others but I don’t remember the names.
13. best kiss:
I love the fire side (?)  kiss between Selin and Demir from HYS as well as their kiss when she thinks that he stood her up when in fact he didn’t even know that he was supposed to go on a date with her and so she gets pissed off (rightfully so) and he chases after her and OMG I love them! Also the first and second kiss between Nejat and Suna. These last three I have made gifs of, and they were my first gifs, unedited, kinda ugly, but I love them (not saying that I make good gifs now because I do not, they are still ugly and unedited but not my firsts anymore).
14. an underrated show more people should watch:
Her Yerde Sen. And Benim Tatli Yalanim. And Menajerimi Ara (although more people were getting into it). And Alev Alev.
15. a show everyone loves that you aren’t interested in:
The one with Demet Ozdemir (BOK I believe is the tag). Never was interested in it but based on gifs alone, I think they had the character who is either played by an actor whose name is Ismail or the character is called Ismail make a 180 from season 1 to season 2 and I hate it when they do this kind of things in books and series (I might be wrong though) so now I have even less interest in it. Also Son Yaz. The gifs, I love them, but I don’t want to actively watch the show. I’ll enjoy it from gifs and posts about it.
16. a show you want to recommend right now:
Menajerimi Ara, Kara Para Ask, Her Yerde Sen, Alev Alev, Benim Tatly Yalanim.
17. the next show on your list:
none, to be honest. I mean, I already have a LOOOONG list of shows to finish so it’s better that way.
tagging: @rescuemeifyoucan and, for people who heve not been tagged yet, take this as the sign that I am tagging you.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition (Switch, 2019) Richie:  I LIEK THE DUBBLE ONES! The Last of Us x2 Divinity: Original Sin II x2 Play count: 16 off that list, that's also eight twentyfifths, which is roughly how much of my massive dick your mom can take. Cunzy: Now, we all know the issues with a crowd sourced list. It's dumb. It's like putting together a list of best fruit, or favourite socks. However, every now and then it's useful to pull the wang out to measure it against the communities' wang and see just how weird and misshapen our is (we share genital appendages) by comparison. Play count: 9! What an alternative darling I am! Richie: I mean they are great, and you know they will be, but you have to draw the line somewhere, So you have to choose and say, "Nah I wont play this", better the time sink you know, right? And you choose your reasons, you skim an article, and find the thing that is slightly wrong and then activate your inner drama queen to say "OMG that is not a game I want to play I cant believe they dont have Fred Durst doing the voice of the main character" or something equally nuts. And there is plenty of them on that list that I simply refuse to play for these reasons. And I guess that's fine? Time is finite, I cant go back ten years and play all of the PS3 games I never played? Can I? Cunzy: GUILTY CONFESSIONS, A.K.A those games you know are great but just never got around to: Mario Odyssey, LoZ (the whole franchise), Red Dead (series), Mass Effect (series), Persona (series), Divinity (series), Souls (series)... where do I hand my gamer card back? Richie: Also Overwatch... Do people actually play it, or is that there just because people fiddle with their genitalia to fund cosplay camgirls? Cunzy: Yes, watch me throat this widowmaker dildo on my stream now. Richie: So do we disagree with this list? Well, to be fucking honest I'm not going to research it myself, I'm not sure I have played much more than 50 games this year, as far as i can recall, I played a lot of Diablo 3 and Fallout/Skyrim... but yeah I'm sure the above is good... Actually fuck that, Games of the decade for me are... Every iteration of pokemon that came out in the last 10 years, X/Y, Sun/Moon, Black/White, Sword/Shield, Flaps/Scrotum. Skyrim SNOW VIKING DRAGON SHOUTING Animal Crossing, Shake the tree for Nook. Lego Everything, play, collect, repeat Hyperdimensions Neptunia. Ultra Japanese anthropomorphised consoles as Anime girls. Vert is best Waifu.  Fallouts So many plus expansions, Chandler as a bad guy is special.  Diablo 3, Clicky loot loot  WoW Classic, because...  FFXIII-2, Timetravel-bocolina  Tomodatchi Life, Make your friends on the DS into miis, interact with them, cry alone at night Smash Bros. Repeatedly main Peach till she becomes top tier, yaay Jackbox games, All Gems, probably the best multiplayer gaming actually this decade.  Doki Doki Literature Club, MO-NI-KA Batmanzes, grapple glide Southparkgames, play the stories you have watched and add a weak RPG element. Dragon Ages-s, Way better than mass effect Every Naruto game. Like lego, but with anime ninjas Barrel Scrape: the game, where you frantically look at your steam collection for the games you have most played, and check the dates of your 360 games to see if they fall into this category I played 18 games it seems? Cunzy: *gasps for air*, wipes synthetic jizz from Lollipop Chainsaw skirt. Ten years is a long time. Here's my top 18 games of the decade. Silent Hill Shattered Memories 2010 Silent Hill without the combat and all the more psychologically chilling because of it. Great setting, theme and story. One I regularly come back to and still brick myself.  Endless Ocean 2 2010 Expanding on the first one in every way, shame there aren't more nature lovin' games in this ilk.  Monster Hunter Tri 2010 The only one in the series to have kept my attention despite it being the 'wrong one' according to many in the MH community.  Lost Planet 2 2010 Probably one of the games with the most comprehensive couch co-op mode and ridiculous bosses to team up against. Absolutely bonkers story, giant monsters and jetpacks. What more do you need? Dead Rising 2 2010 I wasn't too bothered with DR3 and DR4 despite absolutely loving the first game. They seem to have crossed the line between goofy but po-faced and just silly apocalypse zombie killing. DR2 arguably gives you a playground more memorable than Willamette and stays on the 'serious' side.  Dead Space 2 2011 One of my favourite gaming franchises I think, excellently built world that is complemented by the tie in anime, comics and spin-off games.   Resident Evil Revelations 2012 It was a good decade for Resident Evil with almost every game seeing multiple ports, re-releases and remasters. It's a close call between Resident Evil 2 and Revelations on the Nintendo 3DS for my favourite of the decade but this one really got it's biohazardous talons-with-eyes into us especially raid mode. Revelations 2 is fantastic co-op but the raid mode side of things isn't as fluid as the original Revelations. Criminally, aside from a brief VR foray into Resident Evil 7, we errr didn't play it.  The Last Story 2012 Oh, I fell in love with this game and despite the small geography of Lazulis City it felt like a living city with many surprises tucked away. Great soundtrack to boot.  Fire Emblem Awakening 2013 Another series that had a rock solid decade starting with Awakening then the rest of the 3DS trilogy, an excellent Warriors game and even Heroes wasn't too bad. Although Fire Emblem Three Houses is the superior game, it's the cast and the support system pioneered by Awakening that has this in my top 18.  Tomb Raider 2013 Sometimes the context in which you play a game is as important as the game itself. A weekend in 2013 with fellow Tomb Raider fans blasting through this excellent and long awaited reboot is fondly remembered. Last of Us 2013 It's hard to put a finger on just one thing that makes this game phenomenal but there's not been much like it since.  LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2013 There were some great LEGO games this decade from opposites LEGO Worlds and LEGO Dimensions to movie tie-ins and a strong series of games based on the Marvel and DC comics. The Marvel trilogy in particular was outstanding.  Everyone's Gone to the Rapture 2015 With age, the more energetic games can leave me wheezing with exhaustion just thinking about playing them and EGttR is a perfect respite from the shootbang games. Honestly, I'd be keen to play more games just like this. The English countryside setting in particular made it extra special.  Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 2017 Honestly, who actually puts Mario Kart on their top games list? Well thinking about it and looking at play records it's probably the perfect couch multiplayer game but with a real challenging depth to those looking to break records and get a hold of those elusive gold kart components.  Splatoon 2 2017 Cheating slightly here by including Splatoon 2 and the Octo Expansion as one entry. I'm really not a huge fan of the central competitive gameplay of Splatoon, although I've put in the hours, but the single player side of things are a worthy first person puzzler(?) in their own right.  Into the Breach 2018 When the options paralysis sets in, which is often, I just spin up Into the Breach. Three hours and a few runs later I'll question why I don't play this game even more often. Hundreds of hours in and still challenges to do, runs to try.  Super Smash Brothers Ultimate 2018 Part game, part nerdy love letter to gaming, part video game museum.  Pokemon Sword and Shield 2019 Okay as Richie pointed above any of the pokemon mainline series could have filled this slot but the last one makes most sense. Twas also a good decade for the spinoffs. I enjoyed Pokemon Conquest a huge deal, put an embarrassing amount of time into Quest as well as Picross, Rumble, Duel, Go and mystery dungeons.  And there we have it, lists, we'll be back at some point in the future with more lists, perhaps with a list spanning the last 2 decades, to present you with our Game of the Century (spoilers, it's SSX Tricky). Also if anyone has a word to describe my above rant about the act of proactively dismissing something despite knowing it will be good to avoid committing to the time sink, please let me know. We live in a time of labels, there must be a word for this! Love and where do you even start with persona! Richie + Cunzy X

Anime News Network - Interview: Megumi Han
Interview Info: by Carlo Santos July 12th, 2013 For Anime News Network
[SOURCE]
At your focus panel, you said that Sailor Moon and Hunter x Hunter were major influences on you. What other anime did you enjoy when you were young? Digimon Adventure and Revolutionary Girl Utena. What's the most useful advice your mother (Keiko Han) has given you about voice acting? Don't think about it too much, and just do it freely.
Keiko Han is a very well-known seiyuu who has voiced in several anime including Sailor Moon where she voices Luna and Saint Seiya as Saori Kido.
You've played roles where the story takes place in a fantasy world (Hunter x Hunter, Little Witch Academia) and others that take place in the real world (Chihayafuru 2, The Garden of Words). Which do you prefer? Maybe ... fantasy is more exciting because you can do things beyond your own capability, like flying, or becoming invincible. Going beyond your ability—I like that kind of excitement. But you have to balance yourself, because if you do too many fantasy roles, then you start to miss the real-world characters, so you kind of go back and say, "Ahh, I want to do 'real.'" What do you do to prepare yourself before a recording session? Deep breathing exercises. But I do it to match the character's personality, so I can "become" that character. Even when we're off-air, I'm still breathing in the same way as that character. So preparing for Gon would be totally different from Sumire (in Chihayafuru 2). Yes, that's right. It's totally different, and it depends on the situation, so sometimes I might go slowly, like—(takes slow breaths)—or it might be like: (takes quick breaths, as if running). So, it's completely different. Is there anything you do to help yourself relax? Well, this is embarrassing, but I manipulate my face (pats her cheeks). I do different facial expressions. (in English) "Stretch." Now that you've accomplished your dream of playing Gon in Hunter x Hunter, do you have any new dreams for the future, like directing, live-action, or new roles? As an actress, of course, I would like to take on the challenge of live action, but also, my desire is to play an evil character—an antagonist.
Note: She played Five, an antagonist, in Zankyou no Terror. It aired one year after this interview was published. Dreams do come true!
You've said that you want to play a non-human character someday. What kind of character did you have in mind?
I want to play something like a cute little animal character—one that doesn't speak verbal human language but can only cry out or use a very limited vocabulary. But somehow, it can express every feeling with just a few lines of its own language. It would be very difficult, but very exciting.
Note: She has voiced Rakitama in Kamisama Minarai which began airing in 2015. I think that thing is an animal.
If you weren't a voice actor, what kind of job do you think you'd be doing? Right now I can't think of anything else but being a voice actress, but when I was very little, I wanted to be a dolphin trainer or a manga-ka. What style of manga? Shonen manga.
The first manga she bought and read was Hunter x Hunter which left a strong impact on her since she voiced Gon in the 2011 adaptation.
Lastly, do you have a message for your fans in America? I'm very touched that I was able to travel outside Japan and come to the United States in this way. They welcomed me so warmly, and I'm very touched that American audiences know so much about anime. Even though I could only speak in Japanese, through an interpreter, the audience could "feel" what I was trying to say. It was so amazing and so warm-hearted. In the future, I'll keep doing my best with all my roles in anime and other projects, so that everyone will get to know my work. I appreciate all the American fans, so thank you very much for giving me this opportunity, and I'd love to come here again.

Cold Sun (Ryo Nagamo Remix) Sung by Aimer "Just what are the words that I've piled up meant to protect? If I can face my weaknesses, I'll no longer have the need for tears, But if these days consist of nothing more, Than repeating 'Farewell, farewell', it would be so sad; Nonetheless I'm still looking up to the sky, Even now I'm still looking up to the stars"    One of my favorite occurrences in life is when I'm randomly introduced to music that I didn't expect to obsess over. Aimer started out as a very low key musician, in which was only the beginning of her career, minimally; she refused to show her face. Her music was mysterious right from the get go, so it made sense that Aimer didn't show her face for the longest time until her music became more popular. Some of the first videos of her that are out there is her behind the mic but her back is faced toward the camera, singing some of her hit songs acoustically. So in this sense she was slowly but surely building confidence to show herself.    Aimer is very well known for her low, husky voice, which developed as a result of an accident she had at 15, but nonetheless recovered her ability to sing. To be honest, her vocals are very recognizable and feminine regardless of her accident. Her voice is beyond beautiful. Some of Aimer's earliest work is mostly jazz, and a part of me feels that she should still incorporate this in her music. Unfortunately due to contracts and Labels, it can guide certain musicians in another direction. Granted, I love all of her pop music, but her jazz is just incredibly unique. Perhaps blending the two genres is something I'd hope she would consider.    In recent years, Aimer has been collaborating with other musicians throughout Japan and has really built up her career phenomenally, especially featuring her songs in anime. Her latest album came out in 2016 and has been touring since then; that is the only album I have not heard by her at this time. First Listen:    In summer of 2012, I was spending the weekend at my friend L's house. She wanted to introduce me to an anime she'd thought I'd really like and has been catching up with. Once we started watching episode one, I was hooked immediately. The anime is called Natsuyuki Rendezvous. I highly recommend watching it if you are invested in slice of life, involving a ghost in the plot twist. The ending theme song is what captured me the most out of watching this anime. The song is called "Anata ni Deawanakereba~Kasetsutouka~" which translates to "If I Haven't Met You, Summer Snow, Winter Flowers". This song really captured the tone of the anime, getting you into the bittersweet mood of what was about to unfold each time you finished an episode. At the time, this was the most beautiful song I've ever heard in my life. It was also at the time the most relatable song, while I was in the middle of an on and off relationship that was unhealthy.    This song was too good to be true. As soon as I could I went on my computer to listen to more songs by Aimer. Right then and there being introduced to Aimer brought out such a different sound in the JPop realm, I knew she would make it big down the road. Not only did I have this song on repeat, but she created much more music that was just as worthy to listen to, and I've had played on repeat; for YEARS. Best Album:    I have to be honest, my favorite album by Aimer is her mini album, "Dare ka, Umi wo". For some reason, some of her songs that are remixed in this album is some of the best material that's out there, some that are better than the original version of the song. There were also "newer" songs at the time that really made you feel like you were dreaming. The song tracks are aligned perfectly for the mood you're looking for. If you want to be transported into a dream-like surreal weathered dimension, this mini album is perfect for you. Best Song:    If you recall on my Eiko Shimamiya post, I've mentioned how I've listened to a particular song for years and eventually realized another song was better material. That's the same dilemma I have with Aimer's music. For 6 years my favorite song by Aimer was "Fuyu no Diamond (Re Echoed by Genki Rockets)" which is a remix version of the original "Fuyu no Diamond". Other known as Winter Diamond in English. The sensation of daydreaming is real when listening to this song. It feels like you just took in a bittersweet love movie flick and are watching the ending credits, but literally reflecting on all of the feels you just endured from watching said movie. That's what this song feels like. I had it on repeat at least 400 times according to ITunes.    However, in 2015 I downloaded the "Dare ka, Umi wo" album, and that's when it all changed for me. "Cold Sun (Ryo Nagano Remix)" is derived from the original song "Cold Sun" from her album "Midnight Sun". As soon as this remix started playing I was instantly mesmerized. The vibrations of this song is remindful of how I spend my early summer mornings in the cold, crisp air for a short amount of time. The cold colored hues of the earth and sky collaborating; this song really knows how to display this vision realistically. If cold summer mornings had a sound, it's this song.    I can't even begin to say how many times I've cried to this song. From the get go I felt like I was time traveling to places and experiences that I was reflecting on. Even what was going in my life at those current moments, this song was describing me. In fact, this occurrence is so frequent that I'm not sure if that's a good thing. I can pin point a couple of experiences I've associated this song with and have played repeatedly throughout this time frame: •In 2015 I was seeing someone (who we will call Baymax), who I actually went to art camp with when we were younger but we lost touch for years. One day in June of that year I was at my friend MS's house with a couple of other camp friends, and out of the blue MS wanted to reach out to Baymax when she realized he was online on Skype. We all video chatted with him for a while, but it was incredible for the time how much he grew into a "man" from when I last saw him. We hit each other up as soon as I got home from MS's house and from there on we knew we were into each other. Late nights of phone calls, sometimes video chatting, and actually spending time in person romantically it was too good to be true. Throughout the summer it was such bliss, feeling like finally someone understood me and cared about me.    I barely harassed Baymax. I didn't want to feel obsessive with him and we weren't even official with each other still. I didn't mind giving him all the space in the world, but the problem was after 4 months he wasn't as engaging as he was with me originally, and I finally asked him where we stood. He backfired at me and assumed I thought he was leading me on so he wanted to end it with me. All I wanted was to talk things out with him, not with half assed responses. I felt like I couldn't get everything off my chest. If this was already spoken out in person or over the phone I wouldn't have felt the hurt I did that day, and ultimately suicidal from assuming I fucked up.    The way he handled it was not ok, but I'm grateful that I have been dating someone for a year now who I'm madly in love with and couldn't be happier. •In 2016 I moved to Florida from the north. I drove myself down with my two cats, and my entire life packed in my car. I had started a new life away from a long, ongoing toxic situation; but I knew I needed to move away for the better; to better myself mentally and physically.    My cat (actually named) Joey was finally reunited with me after being separated for a long time. He had inflammatory bowel disease since he was 4 years old and was put on medication for years until he was weened off because my grandmother felt the medicine was unhealthy for him. I had no knowledge of this until I moved when I took him back from my grandmother. Ultimately he lasted over a year without medication and was on a strict diet until his death. However, whether it was the right thing or not by my grandmother, Joey was the happiest cat I have seen in the longest time. He played with my other cat (which he never did; he was very independent and grumpy), played with toys and was physically and mentally healthy for that one year.    When I realized he was getting sick from sudden weight loss and threw up blood, not only was history repeating itself but he was very old. The last thing I wanted to do was make him suffer like he already had majority of his life. I remember the day I brought him in to be put down like it was yesterday. I watched the sun rise as early as 6:30 am with Joey next to me. I took as many pictures of him as possible and cuddled him close. Around 11:30 am was when I brought him to the vet, and was put down by 12 pm. My face was pressed against his when he was given the shot. I heard his last breath and I became hysterical. I definitely got snot on his face but I'm sure he would've forgiven me. I held his body for about an hour until I couldn't bear it anymore. Just writing this out is really difficult for me but my point is this song was all that played when I put Joey down.    This song is about facing your weaknesses. If you face it, you would be able to walk on; move forward. You don't need to know a right or wrong answer to overcome your situation. As long as you overcome it and move forward, time will eventually heal your pain, no matter what direction it goes. Your weaknesses will disperse because you know how to overcome it. Acceptance and perhaps forgiveness is all that it takes to move on. Be the bigger person. Follow your gut.

And the best movies of all the years I’ve been alive are... (updated for 2017!)
Hey folks, I’ve got of a bit of a tradition that I’ve started. It wasn’t a New Year’s tradition previously, but this feels like the best time to be updating
Back in August 2015, I watched a Youtube video by Jeremy of @cinema-sins, where he was answering fan questions. One question that he addressed was, “What is the best movie of every year that you’ve been alive?” While Jeremy thought this was a great question, he didn’t think one video would be long enough to explore it fully, and he wanted to find another way to answer it. This eventually was done through the Cinema Sins podcast, SinCast. Each week, the cast would discuss the movies of a certain year and then vote on which one they thought was the best, starting with 1975 in episode 14, and then working their way through another year each episode right up until episode 54, where they voted on the best movie for 2015. They then took a break for a few weeks to get caught up on some of last year’s movies that they hadn’t seen yet before finally tackling 2016 in this week’s podcast, episode 58.
I did my own picks for my favourite movie of each year back in August 2015, when I first saw Jeremy’s Q and A video. I really liked that question and was inspired to try and name my own favourites from each year. I reuploaded the updated version of this when the SinCast finished going through it last year, and I’ve been waiting for New Year’s Eve to update it again for this year. I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to comment and/or argue about my choices. And thanks again to @cinema-sins, for providing me with laughs every week in the podcasts and videos they release. :)
————————————————————————————————–
1982: E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial This might be a bit of a cheat, since the film came out in June and I wasn’t born until October, but oh well. It’s still the same year.
1983: Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi The first Star Wars movie I was around to see the cinematic release of, although I wouldn’t see it in cinemas (or at all, shamefully) for another 14 years.
1984: The Terminator The original was pretty chilling. This still gets me every time. “Listen, and understand! That Terminator is out there! It can’t be bargained with! It can’t be reasoned with! It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear! And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead!”
1985: Back to the Future The beginning of what I still believe is the greatest movie trilogy of all time.
1986: Aliens More awesome from James Cameron.
1987: Spaceballs Well, it’s pretty funny. Plus I haven’t seen much else from this year, other than Lethal Weapon.
1988: Die Hard The original and quite possibly the best. More on that later.
1989: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade This was a tough one to pick, as Michael Keaton’s first Batman film, Licence to Kill, AND Back to the Future: Part II all came out this year. But it really has to be the onscreen chemistry of Harrison Ford and Sean Connery!
1990: Back to the Future: Part III At the time, I probably would have picked DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp. Ahhh, nostalgia.
1991: Terminator 2: Judgement Day I’m sure most of you who know me and know my favourite movies saw this one coming. This was my very favourite movie of all time for almost twenty years, but recently something has surpassed it. Silence of the Lambs would probably get second place for this year.
1992: Batman Returns It was a hard choice between this and Aladdin, which was my favourite Disney cartoon for a very long time. But since it’s not in my dvd collection and Batman is… Honourable mention goes to A Muppet Christmas Carol, my favourite of the Muppet movies.
1993: The Fugitive Another tough choice, considering that Jurassic Park also came out in 1993. But I just love the battle of wits between Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones.
1994: The Lion King Another of Disney’s finest. No contest, although True Lies, Speed, and The Mask were all excellent films too.
1995: Goldeneye (007) This was another tough choice, and Die Hard with a Vengeance came very, VERY close. It’s hard to live up to the awesomeness of that first film, but the partnership with Samuel L. Jackson definitely pays off here. But Goldeneye was the first Bond film I saw in the cinema, and I remember that experience vividly. Pierce Brosnan remains my favourite Bond, even though the next three films he starred in didn’t quite live up to this one.
1996: Scream The Rock and Independence Day were my other main picks from this year, but Wes Craven made an instant classic with Scream, which inspired so many other movies and spoofs. If only they’d stopped after the first Scary Movie…
1997: Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (Special Edition) It’s a bit of a cheat, but technically the original Star Wars trilogy was re-released in cinemas that year with new “special edition” footage, which is when I first fell in love with the series. From original movies that came out in ‘97, it’s a toss up between Men in Black, Air Force One, and The Fifth Element.
1998: Rush Hour Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker were hilarious in this one. The Mask of Zorro was another great movie, and Deep Impact, which was waaaaaay better than Armageddon. Of course, a Michael Bay film will be obsessed with making things go ka-boom. :P Yes, yes, I know The Rock was a Bay film too. So sue me.
1999: The Matrix Another of my very favourite movies. The effects, the plot, the action… it was just sensational. The Sixth Sense was another very clever movie, and Austin Powers: The Spy who Shagged Me was hilarious! But… c'mon, The Matrix, man!
2000: The Whole Nine Yards I was still a big Friends fan at the time, so I loved Matthew Perry starring alongside Bruce Willis. There was also Gone in 60 Seconds, which is one of my favourite Nick Cage films, The Emperor’s New Groove, and of course, X-Men. And then there’s Mission: Impossible 2… hey, be nice. I watched this a lot when I was in Virginia and homesick for Australia :P
2001: Ocean’s Eleven Such a clever film with a great cast!
2002: The Bourne Identity Spider-Man came pretty close, but Matt Damon was amazing as Jason Bourne. …well, that most recent movie was kind of hit or miss…
2003: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Who would have ever guessed that a movie based on a Disneyland ride could be so good?
2004: The Incredibles It was a good year for animation - there was this one, Shrek 2, and Team America: World Police. National Treasure came out too, which I quite like.
2005: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire There was also The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (a huge improvement on the previous two movies), Batman Begins, and of course, Serenity; the movie that had Firefly fans screaming, “NOOOOOOOOO!!!” near the climax. :P
2006: V for Vendetta I just LOVE this film. Top performances from Hugo Weaving, Natalie Portman and John Hurt. The Da Vinci Code was my second choice. Controversial it may be, and people tend to poo-poo Dan Brown a lot, but I loved this movie too. Tom Hanks was the perfect choice for Robert Langdon, and Ian McKellan was brilliant as always. Casino Royale also came out this year, which brought the 007 franchise back from oblivion.
2007: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix I had to find a cinema playing this in English in Nanjing - no easy feat! But at least they didn’t butcher it like they did with Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (my second pick, after I saw the uncut movie on DVD). Ocean’s Thirteen was pretty good too, if not as good as the original. And of course, The Bourne Ultimatum. I was on the edge of my seat for that one.
2008: The Dark Knight A no-brainer. One of the best films of the decade, let alone the year. Iron Man was a surprise hit too. Little did we know of what was to follow - and in fact, you’ll be seeing a few MCU movies coming up on the list. Taken was great. Oh, and I quite liked Steve Carrell’s take on Get Smart, even if he didn’t quite capture the original magic of Don Adams.
2009: Up One of my very favourite Pixar movies. Angels & Demons was pretty good too, although not as good as the first movie. Plus Tom Hanks cut his hair - I thought his shaggy do in the first movie suited Robert Langdon better. :P Strange that I liked Angels & Demons better of the books but The Da Vinci Code better of the movies. Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes was great too.
2010: Kick-Ass This one was a surprise, but I loved the deconstruction of the traditional superhero movie they did here. And when I read the original comic, I loved the film even more for the improvements they made. Nicolas Cage was hilariously hammy, but the major star of this one was undoubtedly Chloe Grace Moretz as the tiny killing machine, Hit-Girl. After that, there was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, and Toy Story 3.
2011: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 A fantastic end to a fantastic series. There was also Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which really surprised me. Excellent stuff there. The Adventures of Tintin - an amazing film that tricked me into forgetting it was animated and not live-action several times. Finally, The Muppets, which was such a fantastic return for some of my favourite childhood icons.
2012: The Avengers No surprise there. Honourable mentions go to The Cabin in the Woods, which is a delightfully insane deconstruction of horror movies, Looper, a film I still occasionally stay up late at night scratching my head in confusion over, and Skyfall, which is probably Daniel Craig’s best Bond film so far. I also loved Wreck-It Ralph.
2013: White House Down This one was definitely the film I liked best from 2013What can I say? I love Die Hard, and this was basically Die Hard in the White House, yet it felt original enough to not just be a knock-off. The other ones I liked best would be the Marvels (Iron Man 3, the Wolverine and Thor: The Dark World), Kick-Ass 2, and Gravity, which was absolutely terrifying.
2014: Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel sure knows how to get my bum into the cinema - X-Men: Days of Future Past and Captain America: The Winter Soldier are up there, but Guardians wins out for pure fun (and the delightful company I had in the cinema <3). There was also The LEGO Movie, which I thought was very clever, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
2015: The Martian When I first made this list in August 2015, my prediction was that Jurassic World would be my favourite of the year. Nope, not by a long shot. The Martian was absolutely amazing - Matt Damon’s ability to keep the audience on the edge of their seats when he’s completely alone on the screen (and on the planet) is a major credit to him as an actor. In fact, I think this film has now actually surpassed Terminator 2 to become my favourite movie of all time. Then of course we have Avengers: Age of Ultron, Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation, and Terminator: Genisys. …no, really. Stop laughing, I really enjoyed it. :P And then there was Ex Machina, which was a really intriguing film that kept me guessing the entire time.
2016: Captain America: Civil War It’s no secret that I love my comic book movies, and this was definitely my favourite of last year. Civil War (the comic) was the first instance that got me intrigued enough to actually pick up and read a Marvel comic. It really raised an interesting question for me - just how accountable should superheroes be for what they do when fighting crime? Granted, the comic really went too far and made both Cap AND Iron Man look like total dicks, and I was relieved when the film managed to not use some of the more ridiculous ideas, such as a homocidal Robo-Thor-clone or a prison for superheroes in an alternate dimension that literally saps your will to live. On top of that, the film also introduced a fantastic Black Panther, and Tom Holland really nailed what Spider-Man should be. And that airport scene was worth the price of admission all by itself.
2017: Wonder Woman Ohhhhh man, it has been a really good year for superhero movies. We’ve had Tom Holland really prove he is Spider-Man in Homecoming, and the most ridiculous-and-yet-accurate portrayal of Batman ever in the LEGO Batman Movie. Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart’s swansongs in Logan were heartwrenching. Ragnarok and Justice League were a lot of fun (yes, I liked Justice League. Fight me). The Guardians managed to surpass their first movie in Volume 2 with really great character development and humour, and that would probably have been my pick for the year if there wasn’t one other superhero movie I loved even more. But I found Wonder Woman to be truly inspirational. Patty Jenkins,Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and everyone else involved with this movie created something that took my breath away. I cheer every time I see her walk out onto no man’s land, and I scream, “FUCK YEAH!!!” every time that iconic butt-kicking theme music plays. In non-superhero movies... Coco was simply amazing, and is another of Pixar’s very best movies. Star Wars Episode VII: The Last Jedi was fantastic, and I can’t wait to go see it again. And I went into Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle with pretty low expectations, but I really enjoyed it and laughed a lot.
—————————————————————————————————
I challenge any of my friends out there who are avid movie lovers to give this challenge a try - it’s not as easy as you’d think. Wikipedia is your friend though - just browse by “(insert year here) in film.” Comments telling me, “Yes, I love that film!” or, “Are you nuts? How could you forget THIS film?” are quite welcome. :)

China's Housing Bubble Bursts: Evergrande Cuts Earnings Guidance By 50%

China's Housing Bubble Bursts: Evergrande Cuts Earnings Guidance By 50%
China's Housing Bubble Bursts: Evergrande Cuts Earnings Guidance By 50%
by Tyler Durden   Now that the world is firmly focusing on apocalyptic forecasts about the state of the US and global economy, with St Louis Fed president James Bullard the latest to pour gasoline into the fire with his worst-case prediction of a 50% GDP drop and 30% surge in unemployment in Q2, it is easy to forget that China, which started this whole pandemic, is still in economic lockdown. And while Beijing is pretending that the Shanghai Sniffles are now firmly behind it, and forcing people back to work while openly fabricating disease numbers  - because like Lloyd Blankfein it has realized that an economic depression is an even worse outcome than millions infected - the reality is that China's economy is facing an unprecedented crisis of its own. Today we got a stark reminder of that, when Evergrande Group - China's second-largest property developer by sales - tumbled in early trading Monday after saying it expects full-year earnings to fall by half. As Bloomberg first reported, the residential property developer said in an exchange filing Sunday that net profit for 2019 is expected to come in it around 33.5 billion yuan ($4.7 billion), a drop of about 50% from the previous year. "The decrease in profit is mainly attributable to the delivery and settlement of the lower-priced clearance stock properties in 2019, which drove down the unit price of the property delivered," Evergrande said. That sent the firm’s Hong Kong-traded shares down as much as 17.4% on Monday, the biggest intraday drop since July 2015. And with the stock tumbling by more than two-thirds since its late 2017 highs, Citigroup downgraded the stock to "sell" and slashed its price target by 56%, as the expected decline in core profit was far below Citigroup’s estimate of a 27% year-on-year drop.
Tumblr media
To be sure, there are plenty of reasons to dump the stock: Evergrande is one of China’s most-indebted developers with net debt of $88.5 billion as of June. As Bloomberg reminds us, the company has been pouring billions of dollars into acquisitions as its Chairman and major shareholder Hui Ka Yan pursues an ambition to make Evergrande the world’s biggest maker of electric cars in the next three to five years.
Tumblr media
Yet while Evergrande did everything in its power to offset the current demand plunge, embarking on an aggressive marketing campaign as the coronavirus outbreak deepened, offering discounts of up to 25% on many of its projects, get-out clauses for buyers and price-match promises, its guidance indicates that the housing bubble in China has finally burst despite laughable government official data which saw an actual increase in average housing prices in February when the economy cratered.
Tumblr media
The recent price cuts followed a surprise move all the way back in March 2019, when with the economy supposedly humming, Evergrande announced it first (of many) price cuts, offering properties at a 10% discount. It's only been downhill from there. In some ways, Evergrande's liquidation campaign worked out: the firm’s contracted sales for Feburary jumped 108%, however this was achieved with firesale prices, and now that the entire Chinese house of cards is, literally, shaking it is only a matter of time before the ongoing economic malaise tears it to the ground. This ia problem because as we said back in 2017, the "fate of the world economy is in the hands of China's housing bubble", and explained that for the Chinese population, and growing middle class, to keep spending vibrant and borrowing elevated, it had to feel comfortable and confident that its wealth would keep rising.
Tumblr media
However, unlike the US where the stock market is the ultimate barometer of the confidence boosting "wealth effect", in China it has always been about housing as three quarters of Chinese household assets are parked in real estate, compared to only 28% in the US, with the remainder invested in financial assets.
Tumblr media
Beijing knows this, of course, which is why China consistently reflates its housing bubble any time it feels the broader economy is slowing, hoping that any subsequent popping of the bubble, which happened in late 2011 and again in 2014, will be a controlled, "smooth landing" process.
Tumblr media
Alas this time it appears to have failed, because while Beijing has been scrambling to indicate that it has again succeeded in maintaining price stability - per Beijing's massively doctored official data - allowing the air out of the "Tier 1" home price bubble which peaked in early 2016, while preserving modest home price appreciation in secondary markets, the Evergrande profit cut clearly indicates that China's housing market is now facing nothing short of a hard landing. One final though: back in the global financial crisis of 2008 it wasn't the US fiscal stimulus, nor was it even the Fed's QE that sparked the global recovery that pulled the developed world out of a depression: it was China, which turned on the debt afterburners and issued trillions and trillions in new money, eventually reaching the absurd point in 2017 when China accounted for half of all global debt created since 2005.
Tumblr media
Needless to say, much of this credit spree was contingent on continued stability in China's housing market. However, now that that is gone, and with Chinese debt to GDP around 300%, or an all-time high, one can forget any hope for a massive Chinese credit-fueled recovery similar to what happened in 2008. In fact, if China's housing bubble has indeed burst, and for validation of this keep a close eye on what Evergrande will say in the coming weeks, what the world should expect is a reversal of China's epic debt firehose, which unfortunately means that just as China managed to pull the world out of its 2008 depression, payback time has arrived and this time it is China that will ensure that the depression of 2020 is truly one for the ages. To read as text only, keep reading!
JUMP OUT! From Korea’s and Asia’s widely popular dance and vocal group EXO, the Japanese debut of their first sub-unit EXO-CBX! Cool, stylish, but somehow also cute… ♡ We’re thoroughly analyzing the charms of these popular three people. Who is EXO? A vocal and dance group from S.M. Entertainment, where BoA and DBSK also came from. Debuted in Korea and China in 2012, and 2015 in Japan. Recorded the highest first week sale for a foreign artist’s Japanese debut single in history. Performed in Tokyo Dome for two consecutive years in 2015 & 2016. One of the most popular groups in Asia. Who is EXO-CBX? A unit made from three members of EXO; CHEN, BAEKHYUN, XIUMIN. EXO’s first sub-unit, the name “CBX” is taken from the first letter of their names. Debuted in Korea in 2016, and different with EXO, expresses their individual style through pop sounds. This time, debuting in Japan after high anticipation. [SOLO INTERVIEW] I AM… CHEN - Anyhow, the gentle, killer smile is his charm point ♥ BAEKHYUN - The mischievous mood-maker ♥ XIUMIN - The level-headed and reliable big brother ♥ Q: How did you feel when EXO-CBX was set to debut in Japan? C: My first thought was, even if (we’re doing it) as a subunit, it’s fun that we get to do activities in Japan! I’m very happy since we get to meet with our Japanese fan more than we were able to before. Not only with EXO’s activities, please anticipate our appearance as EXO-CBX as well ♪ X: Because I wanted to meet our Japanese fans more, I’m very happy that we get to do activities in Japan as a sub-unit. We always try to remember (the feeling) of “starting from zero”, so even now, without forgetting that feeling, we want to start from zero as a sub-unit and do our activities. Q: Your mini album 「GIRLS」, what kind of album is it? B: The whole concept of this mini album is about what men think of women. For example, in our song 「Ka-CHING!」, it sends the message of “people’s appearances are not everything” sung from the men’s point of view. Musically speaking, we included a lot of song genres, so I think you can feel our brand new charm ♪ Q: The thing you bought recently? C: Sneakers. I like (sneakers) very much! Without realizing, the number (of sneakers I have) is increasing… (laughs). I have so many that I cannot fit them (all) on our shoe shelf, I even have to put them in the closet in my room! B: Clothes for snowboarding! This year, I only went snowboarding three times, but I already bought two sets of snowboarding clothes. I may have bought too much (laughs). X: Black sportswear. I like going basic and black, so I have a lot of all-black outfits. We have practice even on our days off, so clothes that I can wear comfortably also during practice are very convenient. So I go for cool sportswear (laughs)! Because I don’t go out that often, I probably don’t put much thought into fashion (laughs). Q: Things that you do to keep your style? [t/n: ‘style’ in this case is more nuanced to mean ‘figure’] C: Because of my genes, my figure doesn’t change easily (t/n: in other words = genetically, he doesn’t gain weight easily), so I don’t take particular care of anything… I only try not to overeat (laughs). B: I try to exercise at the gym and also watch over what I eat. X: In order to not gain weight, I do a lot of aerobic exercise ♪ Q: Fashion that you find cute on girls? 갓세븐 (Got7)
Hello readers! Welcome back, my loves. I just want to start off by saying thank you for reading my blog posts. It really means a lot. Today we are going to talk about a very good and well known group, Got7. According to Wikipedia, Got7 is a South Korean boy group formed by JYP Entertainment The group is composed of seven members: JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom Got7 debuted in January 2014 with the release of their first EP Got It?, which peaked at number two on the Gaon Album Chart and number one on Billboard's World Albums Chart. The group gained attention for their stage performances, which includes elements of martial arts tricking, a style that the group became known for. In late 2014 Got7 signed with Sony Music Entertainment Japan and ventured into the Japanese market to release their debut Japanese-language single "Around the World". They returned to South Korea a month later to release their first full-length studio album Identify, topping the nation's charts. In 2015, Got7 released the EPs Just Right and Mad, the former which failed to top charts but yielded the group's most commercially successful single, "Just Right". In 2016, the group released their first full-length Japanese studio album Moriagatteyo, debuting at number three on the Oricon Albums Chart. They then went on to release their fifth Korean EP Flight Log: Departure and their second full-length studio album Flight Log: Turbulence, both chart-toppers. In March 2017 their music video for "Just Right" reached 100 million views on YouTube, making Got7 the first JYP Entertainment boy group to achieve this milestone. On March 13, 2017, they released their sixth EP Flight Log: Arrival, featuring the single "Never Ever." The album marks the third and final part of the group's Flight Log series. They've done so beautiful things with “Just Right.” That's my favorite song by them. I'll provide a link to the song. But anyway, let's get into the members. There are obviously 7 members. Mark is the oldest and Yugyeom is the maknae. And by the way, my bias is Jinyoung or “Junior.” Let's start from oldest to youngest. Also according to Wikipedia, Mark was born Mark Yi-en Tuan on September 4, 1993 (age 23) in Los Angeles, United States. He is the oldest member of the group and is of Taiwanese descent. In 2010, after getting cast by JYP Entertainment in the U.S., Mark moved to Korea for training. His first pre-debut appearance was on an episode of Mnet's reality-survival program WIN: Who Is Next, which aired on September 6, 2013. Mark, alongside Jackson, BamBam and Yugyeom, competed against trainees from YG Entertainment. Next, JB was born Im Jae-bum on January 6, 1994 (age 23) and is the leader of the group. He passed JYP Entertainment's local auditions in 2009 and debuted together with Jinyoung as the duo JJ Project in 2012. They both made their small-screen debut through the drama series Dream High 2. He also appeared in MBC's drama When a Man Falls in Love. Third, Jackson was born Jackson Wang Ka-yee on March 28, 1994 (age 23) in Hong Kong. He is a former representative of Hong Kong's national fencing team, earning two gold medals at the Asian Junior Olympics in Thailand in 2011. He claimed that earning a gold medal was one of his parents' requirements for allowing him to train in Korea. His father became a gold medalist in fencing in 1986, while his mother was a Chinese national gymnastics member. His first pre-debut appearance was in an episode of Mnet's reality-survival program WIN: Who Is Next with Mark, BamBam, and Yugyeom. Shortly after debut, Jackson became a variety star in South Korea due to his appearance on the SBS reality series Roommate, for which he was awarded the Newcomer Award at the 2014 SBS Entertainment Awards. From May to August 2015, Jackson was a regular MC for SBS's music show Inkigayo. In December 2015, Jackson made his Chinese television debut as one of the presenters of the talk show Go Fridge, and was well received. In December 2016 he appeared in his first solo commercial for Midea fridge in China. Fourth, Jinyoung was born Park Jin-young on September 22, 1994 (age 22). He passed JYP Entertainment's local auditions in 2009 and made his acting debut in 2011, playing the role of Jung Ui-bong in the television drama Dream High 2 in 2011. In 2012, Jinyoung debuted as a member of JJ Project with JB. The duo also made appearances on the MBC television drama When a Man Falls in Love in 2013. Jinyoung is the most prominent actor in the group, having played roles in Beloved Eun-dong and The Legend of the Blue Sea. In 2016, he made his big screen debut in the movie A Stray Goat. Jinyoung and BamBam were made permanent hosts for Mnet's M! Countdown alongside Key of SHINee from March 2015 to March 2016. Jinyoung originally debuted with the stage name Jr., since he shares the same name as JYP Entertainment's founder and CEO. On May 5, 2015, he changed his stage name to Junior due to the confusion of fans and media about the correct pronunciation of Jr. On August 16, 2016, he changed it again to his given name, Jinyoung. On February 1, 2017, SBS announced that he had been chosen, with NCT's Doyoung and Black Pink's Jisoo, as the new fixed MCs of SBS Inkigayo. Fifth, Youngjae was born Choi Young-jae on September 17, 1996 (age 20). In 2013, he became a trainee under JYP Entertainment after passing an audition at his music school in Mokpo. Youngjae cited Elliot Yamin, Sanjoy, and Javier Colon as three of his musical influences, auditioning with Elliott's songs. He was a trainee for just seven months and was the last member added to the group. Sixth, BamBam was born Kunpimook Bhuwakul on May 2, 1997 (age 20) in Bangkok, Thailand. BamBam started training in Korea at a very young age and, as a child, he was part of the dance crew "We Zaa Cool" alongside Blackpink's Lisa. He made his first TV appearance in an episode of Mnet's reality-survival program WIN: Who Is Next alongside Jackson, Mark and Yugyeom. In 2016, BamBam and Jackson appeared on the South Korean variety show Real Men for a special season with the theme of "Enlisting Together". BamBam and Jinyoung were made permanent hosts for Mnet's M! Countdown alongside Key of SHINee from March 2015 to March 2016. And last but not least, Yugyeom was born Kim Yu-gyeom on November 17, 1997 (age 19). He is the youngest member of the group, and is known for his street dancing. Yugyeom enrolled in dance school in seventh grade, which led him to the opportunity to audition for JYP. He made his first pre-debut appearance in an episode of Mnet's reality-survival program WIN: Who Is Next alongside Jackson, Mark and BamBam, which aired on September 6, 2013. In 2016, Yugyeom joined Mnet's dance survival contest Hit the Stage and was placed first in the final episode. This was a long blog post, guys and I'm sorta exhausted. That's all for this post, readers. Love y'all. Until next time... Word Count: 1203

The Birth of Brainchildren
APRIL 10, 2020 - It’s Holy Friday, and the Enhanced Community Quarantine is still on. I’m just writing this entry to go back down in memory lane while making use of the long weekend. We finalized pre-production talks on The Jump Shot Podcast in late August 2019 while we published our first episode the following month. But before that, I’ll be narrating our experience way back college on how I started broadcasting. Here:
Back in college I had already started our broadcasting stint while we were working for The Purveyor Publication, our department’s official student publication.
I started during Freshman Year in 2013 with The Purveyor Show, stylized as The P Show, a pre-recorded podcast where we talked about a mix of pop culture (and sports). It continued on throughout college.
Tumblr media
June 25, 2014 - DYAR 87.9 Airhetoric Radio - Yesterday's all music. This time's all hard news. All the day's work. #PurveyorOBE2014 #CASConvocation
THE BLEACHERS
Then there came the second semester of Junior Year (School Year 2015-2016) where we had an internship at the 88.7 Josenian Campus Radio (JCR) - I could imagine the setup.
I could remember the radio barn's nostalgic set up. There's this long tabletop with two microphones on mounted arms. There's one computer system on the left side containing the music and audio database. It’s also used for work-related Internet browsing. There’s another computer for the sound effects (SFX) on the other end.
There’s a separate round table where two microphone arms are mounted for guest speakers.
There’s the On-Air light in front of the broadcasters. The microphone processor and audio codec at the middle of the tabletop to adjust the volumes and other settings. There's also this big speaker so we can hear our voices in loudspeaker mode. There's also a pair of headphones as well.
(Well I'm not the only one who's abused it by browsing countlessly. There was even one time Rab forgot to log out his Facebook account, and Giselle posted a status on his profile - saying he was watching Barbie and the Popstar that hilariously caught the attention of friends. Later he found out it was "hacked" and shouted "Animas ka!" referring to me while I and Giselle were outside looking through the glass window (We had to run and chuckled at the same time and went back).
However, our station manager Frances was on-air. She had to mute the lines and reprimanded Rab in this awkwardly funny situation. Ahh, good times. Lesson learned, never forget to logout on a non-personal computer.
The pre-production talks came in early November. We were also one month in Cebu Daily News as sports correspondents.
I could remember the time I and Rab pitched in The Bleachers that turned out to be the radio’s official sports talk show.
It differs from Turner Sports’ Bleacher Report. Well I have to admit that I got the show’s inspiration from them.
It was a meeting in a classroom setting. Rab came in late by the time I was in the middle of the pitch.
But the gist is we suggested it since sports isn’t always talked about over JCR as we had to attract a niche audience by having a combination of in-depth and light discussions around the world of sports preferably the NBA, PBA, and a few local sports.
Personally it was our way to broaden our capacity to do sports writing and analysis.
Our instructor Mr. Jefferson Cruz jotted it down right away. The schedule is finalized. Then we had the campus radio’ soft broadcast in December. The Bleachers. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. 12:00 - 1:00 PM.
Tumblr media
(Tune in to The Bleachers - the official sports talk show of 88.7 Josenian Campus Radio - with truly yours and Rab every Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's at 12nn.)
We don’t have recordings of the show, but I will tell you our experience in detail. At times I and Rab took turns buying our newspaper. Sometimes it depends on who buys when we have published stories on that day. We’d also browse the web for the latest topics to dig in the NBA and PBA. A taste of tradition and modernity wouldn’t hurt our senses.
The OBB (broadcast term opening billboard or the official opening tune) commences.
The Bleachers
The students' guide to sports
Check out the updates of your favorite teams
Discussions of the latest trends in the field
And exclusive interviews with athletes and personnel with Rab and James
Presented by 88.7 Josenian Campus Radio every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 12-1 pm.
The Bleachers!
Then we’d kick off the show by reading the headlines. Short break. Then we proceed with the in-depth discussions. Short break. Then discussion. Then we wrap things up.
There are times that I’m broadcasting alone but with, of course, the technical crew of the hour (It’s either Angel, Ena, or Giselle). God knows where Rabboni would be at that hour. At first it was awkward to have like a monologue, but the show continues.
At times we’d invite our good buddy Gyle over to be our guest host who would be one of the guys to continue The Bleachers 2.0 a few semesters after.
Most of the time it was NBA, because it’s arguably the most popular game which meant the most viewed and talked about.
We were the connecting show from the AM Department to the FM Department, but we were still part of the former where all shows are in Cebuano, but opted to use English as our language hehe.
I was also the Traffic Head of the entire JCR interns. I was in charge of the scheduling and attendance of the team along with Vaña and Keith.
By the way our broadcasts are aired in the school canteen, and your voice will be heard no doubt. I would be happy to read messages and shout outs on our text line before we’d wrap up the show.
It was also heard on FM radio. The range is said to have a 400-meter radius from the school. So it can be heard around the Metro Colon and Carbon Public Market area.
The internship experience was fun and at the same time made us keep up with our responsibility while it was fulfilling on our part to share our thoughts. I could recall.
Tumblr media
July 9, 2015 -We talked about basketball the entire hour at Josenian Campus Radio 88.7 from NBA free agency to Coordinates Basketball. #tpusjr #ThePurveyorShow
MORE FLASHBACKS
I could still remember the campus radio was still DYAR 87.9 Airhetoric Radio but has since changed to JCR since DYAR was already registered to an existing entity. We covered the local school elections, presidential debates now rebranded as town hall meetings, and feature stories. We played some music too.
There were times when I and Rab would invite over good old friend Samuel to guest in the P Show. You guessed it we talked about the NBA (haha). But I remembered we talked about some other stuff like comic book comparisons - Marvel vs DC.
Those were the priceless moments. I have no regrets at all. Fast forward to 2019, Here we are with our own podcast that still talks about sports and some side bits on pop culture and personal experiences.
Until the next entry. While waiting, you can check out our live-stream.
Ciao.
James.

He has fought three times thus far in 2019, including a career-best performance April 20 against former world title challenger Christopher Diaz on the Terence Crawford-Amir Khan pay-per-view undercard. He followed up the unanimous decision over Diaz with a triumphant return to Newark, where more than 5,000 fans packed the Prudential Center for his third-round stoppage over Alberto Guevara. Gonzalez (23-0, 14 KOs) is a seven-year pro who has the edge in experience, and at 25 years old, is three years older than Stevenson. Like Stevenson, he had a storied amateur career, nearly qualifying for the 2012 London Olympics and winning a U.S. Junior Olympics title. Gonzalez has won three consecutive bouts by knockout since a split decision victory over former world title challenger Rafael Rivera. He last fought July 13 in Carson, California, capturing the WBO Global and WBA Continental America featherweight titles with a sixth-round stoppage over Manuel Avila. Immediately following the Avila bout, he expressed interest in fighting in Stevenson, and the two have since been engaged in a social media back-and-forth. The talking will stop — and the fight will start — on October 26. November 2: Miguel Berchelt Set to Defend Super Featherweight World Title Versus Jason Sosa WBC super featherweight world champion Miguel Berchelt will defend his world title for the sixth time against former world champion Jason Sosa in a can’t-miss battle Saturday, November 2 at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Berchelt, who has won four in a row by stoppage, is the division’s longest-reigning world champion and is ranked No. 1 by both ESPN.com and Ring Magazine. Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Zanfer Promotions and Peltz Boxing, Berchelt-Sosa and a world title co-feature will air live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes beginning at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT. The undercard will stream on ESPN+ starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT “On November 2, there will be another classic war between a Mexican and a Puerto Rican warrior,” Berchelt said. “I will prove once again that I am the best and most spectacular super featherweight in the world. This title ain’t going anywhere.” “I can’t express how happy and grateful I am to Top Rank and Russell Peltz for once again working together to give me another shot at becoming world champion,” Sosa said. “I am training harder than ever. I want this so bad, and I am not going to let anything stop what God has planned for me. We are incredibly focused knowing the importance of this fight. Berchelt is a strong opponent, and we are not taking his talents lightly. We both throw a lot of punches so expect an action-packed fight that will be the next chapter in the Mexico versus Puerto Rico rivalry. It’s a rivalry that’s been ongoing for years, and I plan on making my island very proud. On November 2, I plan on becoming a two-time world champion.” Berchelt (36-1, 32 KOs) has reigned as WBC super featherweight king since January 28, 2017, the evening he dethroned Francisco Vargas via 11th-round knockout in a Fight of the Year contender. He has maintained his reputation as an all-action star, besting Miguel Roman and Takashi Miura in dominant title defenses. He last fought May 11 in Tucson, Arizona, battering Vargas in their rematch until Vargas retired on his stool following the sixth round. A native of Cancun, Mexico, Berchelt has won 15 consecutive bouts and hopes a win over Sosa will move him closer to a world title unification bout. Sosa (23-3-4, 16 KOs), from Camden, New Jersey, is in the midst of a career revitalization following a two-bout skid in 2017. Sosa has reeled off three consecutive wins since a controversial decision loss to Yuriorkis Gamboa in November 2017, and he is now ranked in the top 10 by two of the major sanctioning organizations. He last fought August 10 in Philadelphia, knocking out Lydell Rhodes in seven rounds to earn his shot at the title. November 9: Jamel Herring Set for Ballpark Title Defense Versus Lamont Roach Jr. in Fresno Jamel “Semper Fi” Herring, the U.S. Marine veteran who upset Masayuki Ito in on Memorial Day weekend to win the WBO junior lightweight title, is set to honor his comrades by returning on Veterans Day weekend. Herring will make his first title defense against the undefeated Lamont Roach Jr. on Saturday, November 9 at Chukchansi Park in Fresno, home of the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies. This is a return engagement for Herring, who fought at Fresno’s Save Mart Center last September and had more than 1,000 active, retired and aspiring service members in the crowd cheering him on. Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Golden Boy, Herring-Roach and a co-feature will stream live beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on ESPN+. The undercard will stream on ESPN+ starting at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT. “Our camps have gone back and forth, and I’m just ready to get to work,” Herring said. “I have a great team, and Terence Crawford will also be in camp to make sure I’m at my best. Overall, the night means much more than trash-talking, since it’s the weekend of both Veterans Day and the Marine Corps birthday. “I’m glad to be back in Fresno. I had a huge crowd supporting me last time I fought in the area. I know a victory here will lead to bigger and better things.” “I know Jamel very well and he knows me,” Roach Jr. said. “I’m super excited, and I’ve been waiting for this moment my entire life. This victory will be only the beginning of my legacy. I’m here for a reason, and I can’t wait to show the world why! I will be the WBO junior lightweight world champion on November 9.” Herring (20-2, 10 KOs) served two tours of duty with the Marines in Iraq and captained the 2012 U.S. Olympic boxing team. His pro career stalled with a 1-2 skid from 2016-2017, but after signing with Top Rank and moving down to 130 pounds, he won three straight fights to earn the title shot against Ito. His September 2018 fight against John Vincent Moralde was a particularly special occasion, as dozens of Marines lined the Save Mart Center walkway as Herring made his entrance. He shut out Moralde as the ESPN-televised co-feature, and now he returns to California’s Central Valley ready to put on a clinic under the lights. Roach (19-0-1, 7 KOs) is one of the best young fighters to emerge from the boxing hotbed of Washington, D.C. in recent years. His only hiccup as a pro — an April 2018 draw against Orlando Cruz in Cruz’s home country of Puerto Rico — was a minor speed bump in what has been an otherwise sterling run up the ranks. He is 3-0 since the Cruz fight, winning a pair of regional belts and putting forth his best performances on high-profile cards. He last fought May 4 on the Canelo Alvarez-Danny Jacobs undercard in Las Vegas, scoring a 10-round unanimous decision over former world title challenger Jonathan Oquendo. Roach is trained by his father, Lamont Roach Sr., who has been the head man in his corner for his past five bouts.
