astrolatry 🌌
astrolatry is defined as the worship of stars and other celestial bodies as deities or by associating them with deities. deity, in this case, may refer to a god or goddess but can also refer to something with divine status, quality, or nature.
in my personal practice, i do not worship or work with anthropomorphic deities, or deities who are described as having human-like traits and behaviors. although the planets were named for greco-roman beings with these qualities, i do not see them [the planets] as such.
overall, i believe that the cosmos itself is divine, which includes the many celestial bodies encompassed inside of it. in my opinion, celestial bodies have their own innate energies that we can work with without thinking of them as what others would describe as gods/goddesses/deities, much like we view crystals, herbs, and other objects.
working with celestial bodies in this sense would be much like working with deities: you could make offerings, use their energy and aid in magical workings, dedicate a shrine or altar to them, or even pray to them.
while it may sound odd to pray to a planet or a star, prayer is most simply defined as requesting help/assistance or expressing thanks to a deity or an object of worship, and in this case, the object of reverence in question would be the celestial body of your choosing.
offerings are generally given to express your gratitude for receiving assistance from celestial bodies.
offerings will vary depending on the celestial body you are working with, but here are a few ideas:
bury crystals in the soil
leave crystals on your altar or shrine
burn incense or a blend of herbs and spices
light a candle according to color or scent
leave a mixture of herbs and spices on your altar/shrine
floral arrangements
food and beverages
trinkets or jewelry
use representations of associated animals (could be a drawing, a feather, a tuft of fur, a whisker, etc. all safely and legally harvested, of course)
drawings or paintings of the celestial body
bonding with celestial bodies and utilizing celestial energy in magical workings:
use planetary hours or lunar cycles based on intent
perform magic on days of the week that are associated with the corresponding planet
spend time outside under the stars
study astronomy and astrology
draw down energy from celestial bodies based on intent
i like to use the skymaps app on my smartphone to track down the celestial body in the sky for increased accuracy
astral travel to other planets
try spiral meditation to ground, center, and channel celestial energy
use planetary symbols to represent a planet in a spell
draw the symbol in a pen or marker of corresponding color
carve the symbol in a candle or wax cube of corresponding color or scent
create a crystal grid in the shape of the symbol
arrange herbs or flowers in the shape of the symbol
make a corresponding oil and draw the symbol on yourself or another medium
burn herbs or incense associated with a celestial body based on intent
use candles based on scent and color to correspond with your intent
use tarot or oracle cards that you associate with certain celestial bodies
create and use planetary or celestial oils to anoint objects
make crystal grids based on the current planetary alignment
make crystal elixirs using crystals associated with certain planets or other celestial bodies
wear a corresponding crystal on your person
wear a pendant made from corresponding herbs and spices on your person
paint your nails using corresponding colors
make an herbal sachet to use in the bath
use bath crayons to draw symbols and sigils in the bath/shower
drink tea made from corresponding herbs (that are safe to consume)
add herbs of corresponding intent to your food while cooking or baking
worshiping on the go:
carry corresponding crystals in your pocket
wear a corresponding crystal/herbal pendant
draw celestial sigils/planetary symbols on yourself with a crystal elixir, oil, or marker/pen of corresponding color
draw celestial sigils/planetary symbols on paper and carry them with you
wear planetary symbols as jewelry
carry a corresponding herb or crystal sachet in your pocket, purse, or backpack
say a quick prayer to acknowledge a celestial body or thank them for their aid
enchant every day items with planetary/celestial energy such as:
chapstick/lip gloss/lipstick
other makeup products
shampoo/conditioner/soap
compact mirror
perfume/cologne/body spray
car/house keys
keychains
lanyard
name badge/ID for school or work
wristwatch
stationary (pens, highlighters, notebooks, planners, etc.)
lighter
gum/candy

putting in my bet for "this is how filaments in the cosmic web formed." because where they intersect you have a dense population of galaxies, making it likelier for very large and longterm-active supermassives to occur there. so i'm saying the intersection-areas arose first and jets populated the filament areas afterward. i also would not be surprised if failed accretion of material, i.e. spewed out by jets, is a driver of heavier element synthesis
additionally, magnetic polarization skymaps show that black hole spin tends to be more aligned than not, across impossibly large distances, so the chance of two intersection areas broadcasting material directly toward each other, which eventually (billions of years) connect to coalesce into a single filament, is likelier than you might expect. this alignment is probably due to turbulence left over from the earliest era of the universe. not that i'm giving away a whole research topic for free i'm calling dibs i'm busy

foxtrot here. MA'AM YOU CAN SEE MARS IN THE NIGHT SKY FROM WHERE I AM RIGHT NOW!! oh my god. you wouldnt know this, but im an aspiring astrophysicist and space makes me so so emotional. im going to cry. i started tearing up when i saw mars and venus. im pretty sure i see jupiter as well, but i cant be sure. i really need to buy a telescope. also i hope you dont mind being called maam, or that i come into your inbox to just chat whenever i want to. i really like your blog and i love your personality.
Hey hey Foxtrot! Long time no see, how are you doing sweetheart?
You can call me ma'am or whatever you like, I'm totally ok with it.
That's pretty sweet actually, I've seen Mars a few times from my house, usually in the summer as winters here are too cloudy to see much of anything. Did you know there's apps out there that you can point at the sky, and it'll tell you what star or planet you're pointing at? I personally use SkyMap :3
I wish you all the best in your goal to become an astrophysicist, I'm sure you'll do amazing at it <3

Out Run, a pixel-art game; an explanation - By RPG.
Out Run (stylised as OutRun) is an arcade driving video game initially released by Sega in September of 1986.
Upon release, the game was renowned for its pioneering mechanics and graphics, non-linear gameplay and its selectable soundtrack; along with its peripheral hydraulic motion simulator deluxe arcade cabinet.
The idea generation for the game was done by Yu Suzuki, who travelled to Europe for the development of the game's levels/stages; bearing in mind that Suzuki only had a small team and a guidelines to follow, including the deadline of ten months to finish such project.
It is classified as a psuedo-3D game, meaning that it gives the illusion that it is portrayed as 3D but within a 2D setting. The objective for the player is to drive a red Ferrari Testarossa convertible, from a third-person rear perspective.
Notes to make:
The HUD is done in pixel-art style, and is very simplistic.
The designs for the car in the game were based upon pictures taken by the game's design team when on a trip to European countries and their respective cities (for example Milan and Monaco), of the Ferrari Testarossa. When this design team arrived back into Japan, they furthered the process by finding a suitable example of a Testarossa in Japan so that they could also have local reference photos.
The level design is done in very minimal detail, mainly utilising the stylisation of pixel-art. No outlining is really that present in any of the levels in the game, with most of it being dedicated to highlighting objectives like signs and other vehicles. The skymapping/skyboxing is done very minimally, too; where the clouds are thickened and placed so that they can fill the skybox (kind of in an act of desperation, I think?).
Objects: Signage, vehicles, foliage (both on the side of the roads, and the foliage present at a further viewpoint), water.
As the entirety of the game is in pixel-art, it is hard to render an exact resolution to which the pixel-art in question is being framed at. In my opinion, the objects/assets in the game look like they have been done in a smaller resolution, or in many pieces and then put together to form one bigger asset. Another conclusion is that the assets are done in a definite lower resolution, but had more detail added on to them during the creation process (basically, exactly like texture filtering; or anisotropic filtering).
Conclusively, pixel-art is used in a very simple manner in Out Run; but, this shouldn't be taken as a negative thing but more as a positive thing. In terms of rendering, and what power it would take one device to load it in comparison with another (optimisation at its most basic level) it is more-well suited for those with less powerful devices because of the lack of high-intensity shading. Overall, its a sensibly designed game in that regard.

I’m beyond excited to support the launch of ‘ARK: Survival Ascended' and its groundbreaking UGC integration supported by Overwolf and CurseForge for Studios. It was just announced at Microsoft's Xbox event today!
This launch kickstarts an exciting new era for games, where UGC is standardized, and where game studios & in-game creators get to fully bring their visions to life.
ARK: Survival Ascended introduces cross-platform mod support (consoles from November) with high quality DLC-level mods. For the last decade, Overwolf has championed in-game creators and mod authors, and we’re now also enabling game studios, like Blue Isle Studios and Skymap Games, to participate in gaming UGC in a new way.

I worked this weekend and as you know I sleep at work and as you know I met a***d at 10 pm and after a dry chat we sat in silence, each one doing their own thing and it was like fine but it always makes me kinda sad. Anyway at 1130 I was like oh I'm so bored but not tired yet I need to kill at least half an hour more before trying to sleep bc it's hard for me anyway blah blah and he's suddenly like "Do you wanna go outside and then we can talk" (there's s little courtyard right outside the area where we are) and I was like legit so. Surprised?? I always assume he doesn't wanna talk to me and then apparently at that very moment I was really wrong??? So we went outside in the cooold and then next thing I know it's 1 am (we had to go back in bc it got unbelievably cold) and we've spent an hour and a half talking
#our conversation started with 'oh look you can see the stars nicely here i got this skymap app check it out'#and ended with aliens and jeff.rey eps.tein and conspiracies by the time we went back inside#and we talked about school experiences uni p*litics social media....#verdict: he is still soooo endearing.#also he draws. and he believes in aliens and thinks it'll be confirmed in our lifetime
