In 1926 Hendrik op het Veld formed Veld Koning Machinefabriek (Veld Koning Machine Factory). This was abbreviated to Vekoma, and another legendary Dutch ride builder was created. Only inline with many amusement ride manufacturers, it actually wasn't. Originally it built farm equipment, and equipment for the mining industry. After the 1956 closure of the Dutch mining industry, the company switched to producing pipework for the petrochemical industry. 1970's And The Move Into The Entertainment Industry The US based roller coaster manufacturer Arrow Dynamics contracted Vekoma to build the steel work for their European rides in the 70's. As demand in Europe increased Vekoma eventually licensed the technology from Arrow and began building rides in their own right with 3 coasters being produced in 1979. Named the Super Wirbel the first coaster was an inverted double corkscrew installed in Holiday Park, Hassloch Germany. Two of the first riders were the German Formula 1 drivers Rolf Stommelen and Harald Ertl , eventually they produced 7 examples. They went on the produce the Invertigo, Boomerang and Whirlwind coasters. Alliance With Chance Morgan In 2006 they formed an alliance with the USA based manufacturer Chance Morgan, with Chance building the steelwork for the coasters. They produced four in total during this period. Acquisition Of Bussink Wheels Of Excellence Vekoma acquired the Wheels of Excellence range from Ronald Bussink, whereby Bussink would continue to build the 100 metre wheels and Vekoma would build wheels in the smaller 40-80 metre market. They terminated the agreement with Chance in 2012, but licensed the R60 metre wheel to a new offshoot of chance called Chance American Wheels. Madhouse And SkyShuttle Vekoma also manufacture a couple of other attractions. The most curious in the aptly named mad house. Designed to give the riders the illusion of weightlessness and spinning upside down. In actuality, it is an updated version of the 'Rib Tickler', a ride that graced British fairgrounds in the 80's, though never presented as well as the Vekoma version. The other is the SkyShuttle. Raising riders upto 50 metres into the sky with a gently rotating gondola, the ride allows spectacular views over the full site. Acquisition By Sensei Technologies In 2018 Vekoma was acquired by Sansei Technologies a Japanese based company who specialises in both Amusement rides and elevators. The agreement was that Vekoma would continue to be run as a separate entity, so hopefully the brand will continue. Read the full article

Kanika Tekriwal, founder of JetSetGo, launches SkyShuttle for “pure learnings” of what to do in future
Skift Take: India is ideal for aerial taxi services and while Uber decides if that’s where its first Uber Air international city will be, local start-up JetSetGo simply gets going with a new SkyShuttle service that will provide it with insights for future air mobility.

Private Charters, A new normal to the upscaled travel requirement in India.
Hiring a private jet to get from one destination to another was perceived as a privilege reserved only for affluent people. Nowadays, however, many private jet companies like JetSetGo offer relatively affordable trips (in comparison to how much they cost a decade ago). Here is some information on how the private jet hire market has evolved, and what the future may hold in this exciting industry.
Once the perception, today’s value
Whilst hiring/flying in private charters is fairly expensive, it used to be completely unaffordable to the average person and is still a perception in the Indian subcontinent. Wealthy business people and top politicians were some of the only people who could use a private jet, and so the market was relatively small, with just a few specialist companies dotted around. However, the price of the private jet flight is cheaper up to 20% than it was a few years ago, a trend that could well continue, and continue to make private flying much more affordable.
Affordability
One reason that private flying is becoming more affordable is that there are more private jet hire companies in existence and companies like JetSetGo are focussing more on buying/leasing and upgrading private jets technologically to meet the growing demand for Private Jet travel in India.
Transformation
JetSetGo has transformed private jet travel as the needs of private flyers are changing. New (and cheaper) competition nearly always forces older, more established companies to have to lower their prices to stay competitive, especially in a market as niche as private jet hire.
With the market constantly growing, more opportunities exist to reach out to new customers, and there will be no doubt for further reductions in the price of an average journey, making the market more accessible.
The Future
It is fair to say that technology is advancing at an unprecedented rate, with an incredible amount of innovation has happened in the last decade alone. When it comes to private flying, JetSetGo continues to bring new initiatives both in terms of technological upgrades and responsibility towards the environment.
JetSetGo is working on the future of the private jet industry’s growing demands such as “SkyShuttle, A solution to Urban Air Mobility in India” that could shorten journeys within cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, etc. for those who rate time effective as a benchmark in private travel.
The private jet market has come a long way since its inception and is likely to carry on becoming more accessible. With so much to look forward to in this industry, it could well continue to evolve for the foreseeable future.

SkyShuttle: SkyShuttle to launch shared business jet, chopper services next week
MUMBAI: Air chartered services provider JetSetGo-owned SkyShuttle on Saturday announced the launch of its shared business jet and chopper services from Monday.
The Delhi-based non-scheduled carrier, in which cricketer Yuvraj Singh is one of the investors, will fly twice daily services to Tarapur in Maharashtra’s Palghar district and neighbouring Vapi in Gujarat from the city’s Juhu aerodrome with a five-seater Bell helicopter, JetSetGo chief executive and co-founder Kanika Tekriwal told PTI.
The Mumbai-Bangalore service will be catered by a jetliner, she added.
The company wants to use learnings from these routes to further expand offerings across the country going forward, Tekriwal said adding, “We have the flexibility to expand with the demand. As demand increases, we can raise the size of the fleet as well as the number of trips.”
The services will, however, come at a premium as a passenger chartering a seat on Juhu-Tarapore or Juhu-Vapi will have to shell out a whopping Rs 21,000-29,250 for a 45-minute journey to these destinations as against on an average two to two-and-half-hour by road.
The Mumbai-Bangalore service will cost a passenger between Rs 21,950 and Rs 54,875, according to the company.
But considering the time-saving, people will be “willing” to pay a premium, she said while justifying the high travel cost.
Admitting that the company is entering a new segment of the business when the jet fuel prices are escalating costs of air operators, she said, “We have to bite the bullet in terms of pricing as the numbers (jet fuel prices) were different when we did our mathematics 7-8 months ago.”
Stating that the company was initially looking to expand more into tier 2 and tier 3 cities, such as Vijayawada and Ludhiana, which are grappling with the traffic congestion like some other cities, she said, “Delhi being an important market is also on the drawing board. But there are security concerns involving chopper operations, which we are working on.”
The company is hoping to get 60-70 per cent load factor in the initial phase of the launch of services, she said.
According to Sudheer Perla, co-founder of JetSetGo, “We are trying to expand our on demand air charters to a much broader market segment in a cost effective, seamless and a sustainable manner.”
