Danny has discovered something absolutely amazing. While he can’t cook for shit, he can? Actually bake? Really well? Must be those bonding sessions in Long Now with Clockwork making all those cookies and cakes and everything else. 

But? This means he can A, actually make himself food, and B, has somehow befriended several more ghosts, including his rogues. Apparently he gave off bedraggled cat vibes when covered in flour. Or they just enjoyed the cupcakes he’d made to look like them in a sleep deprived ferver. 

But hey, he even has a decent job while he’s in (online due to medical issues, officially) college at one of the local bakery-cafes. Which means he also gets free coffee, so that’s nice too. Just erm, he might’ve gotten in the habit of handing cookies or other baked goods to anyone trying to attack him.

Look, it’s how he befriended his rogues (Apparently Fright Knight, being the ghost of Autumn, enjoys pumpkin spice cookies, who knew?) and they even continue to visit too. 

So really, it’s not his fault that there’s several goonion (honestly Sam will be pleased to learn they’ve got a union) members who are now constantly coming to the bakery. And- okay is that another undead person? Have a cupcake.

being a person who cycles through food obsessions instead of craving variety is convenient in many ways. for example I can keep eating the same leftovers for multiple days without getting sick of them. I only have to try new recipes if I feel like cooking something new, not because I'm bored of everything in my repertoire. however. it does feel kind of comedic to be distraught that tomorrow I can't eat cornbread for breakfast for the third day in a row because I finished it off today (mm 2pm cornbread). like girl I promise you'll survive (before three weeks ago I had not made cornbread in like. years)

Btw chilled dough cookies (the remnants of last batch) are on the oven as we speak. I feel very confident 👍

Can’t go wrong with a small batch of chocolate chip cookies on a chilly Sunday 🍪 🤎

Recipe:

3tbsp melted butter

4tbsp packed brown sugar

1tbsp white sugar

1 egg yolk

6tbsp flour

1/8tsp baking soda

Splash of vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Chocolate chips

Mix wet ingredients, then add dry ingredients. Finally, add chocolate chips to taste, spoon onto parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 350°f for 12-15 minutes or until golden.

Will I eat all of them? Maybe, maybe not…

So the egg white doesn’t go to waste, I put it in the dish I used to melt the butter and microwave for 30seconds at 10 seconds intervals!

my relationship with my mother has always been complicated so of course i cried when she searched endlessly for a sugar cookie recipe that i loved three years ago and made them for me AND dropped them off AND was so excited to see how happy id be about it all
