A mosque was set on fire in Auckland today. It's actually disgusting that it happened.
They haven't 100% confirmed it was a hate crime, as they don't know what caused it, but a back window was smashed in.
I'm gonna say that it's probably a 99% chance a hate crime.

- ‘Don’t *follow* me’ ‘i wasn’t going to :(‘ LEAVE MY BOY ALONEE
- ‘i don’t have helium in my lungs.’
- ‘You hear that? That’s concerning.’
- ‘i was ready to give up at that point, I fell into a deep depression.’ ‘that was the first day’
- got a puregym ad while being IN a puregym

- why they ALL decide to do the diluting right next to the tarp will always be a mystery to me
- ‘you know what they say paul.’ .. ‘fuck.’
- ‘it was better than matts’ that’s not very hard i’ll be honest
- if laura had used a sturdier mud i reckon she would of smashed it out the park
- still didn’t do too badly though considering
- ‘so far laura’s been the best squirter’
- drinking the sunscreen is BRAVE
- i would probably swallow a whole lot of it
- urzila is so iconic for just pelting it right there and then
- ‘sometimes the key is not fucking around.’

- ‘she hates me :|’
- these are some uh.. fantastic portraits!
- now i assume matt has seen jeremy’s mum and at the very least knows much more about her because they’ve been friends for like 20 years
- well done laura

Things go yeet, aka Keith Moon throws the entire room out the window
New Zealand offered some respite, partly because both the concert schedule and the atmosphere were less oppressive. On January 30, the occasion of Steve Marriott's twenty-first birthday, the bands took a plane ride from Auckland to Wellington in the morning and, ensconced in their high-rise hotel in the latter city, gathered in Marriott's room for a party. The Small Faces' record company EMI had kindly bought Marriott a portable record player, and singles to go with. With the night off and the booze in, it looked like being a good party. But when one of the records skipped, an excited and inebriated Steve Marriott smashed the player with his fist, unwittingly breaking it in the process. Realising the error, the former Artful Dodger decided to make a proper job of his destruction, and in the madness of the moment, he picked his broken birthday present up and threw it out of the window. Everyone rushed to the balcony and watched the player turning as it fell, the fans who were gathered on the forecourt several floors below parting like the Red Sea before Moses as it landed in their midst. "It looked so good when it went down," recalls John Wolff, "and the smash it made was fantastic, it was music to our ears, that we shouted, 'Leave those bits there!' I rushed downstairs in my dressing gown, gathered it all up and brought it back upstairs so we could throw it out again!" But as Steve Marriott recalled in The Small Faces biography The Young Mods' Forgotten Story, that "was the wrong thing to do in front of Keith Moon, because the next thing that went out was the telly, armchairs, the lot went out of the window, the whole room… It was just mad." Marriott was stunned. Even though he had started it, he didn't realise anyone went in for that kind of behaviour, and he was right; for all that Moon had been building up to something like this, his actions represented a new high - or low - in on-tour vandalism, an over-the-top reaction to Marriott and Wolff's already crazed actions in a moment of collective, chaotic high spirits. As best as conflicting recollections of what happened next can be correlated, with his furniture now on the hotel forecourt Marriott invented a stupendous lie about unknown intruders breaking into his room and destroying it. Apparently (and amazingly), the hotel took him at his words, the room was redecorated, and the next day EMI supplied Marriott with a new, even better record player. The bands played their two shows each at the town hall and came back for an end of tour party, again in Marriott's room. Keith walked in, complimented the hotel on their redecorating job, admired Marriott's new record player - and promptly threw it straight out the window. "Me and Wiggy looked at each other in amazement," recalled Steve Marriott, "and we screamed "No! No! No!' And Keith was going 'Yes! Yes! Yes!', bunging things out and smashing things. The whole room gets duffed up again. Fucking wrecked."
Tony Fletcher: Dear Boy: The Life of Keith Moon, pages 214-215

Round 1
The Aqua v. Mattel Lawsuit: Life in plastic is fantastic... but outside of it, mega-corporations are litigious. In 1997, the world was introduced to the Danish-Norwegian group Aqua via their Europop smash hit Barbie Girl; the song was so big, in fact, that Mattel sued the band's American record label MCA over the lyrics and the use of their trademarked shade 'Barbie Pink.' Turns out Lady Justice would not be on Mattel's side as Barbie's original messaging rang true, confirming that girls in the 90s could be anything, including tongue-in-cheek pop performers protected under parody law. Mattel would even petition the Supreme Court (really!) while Aqua and MCA would file a countersuit, but none would find great success in litigation. The whole debacle is best summarized by Judge Kozinski's iconic line, "The parties are advised to chill."
The Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand: An essential part of the Auckland skyline, the Sky Tower was developed by Skycity Entertainment Group for both local utility and tourism appeal, and was completed in 1997. At 328 metres/1,076 feet tall, it was the single tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere until facing competition from Indonesia's Autograph Tower in 2020. 23 years at the top isn't a bad run! Unlike a few other iconic pieces of city architecture, the Sky Tower is hugely functional and serves as a massive telecommunications hub. The aerial at the top of the tower hosts the largest FM combiner in the world, which combines with 58 wireless microwave links to provide television, wireless internet, RT, FM radio, and weather measurement services. Or, if you're more enticed by scarfing down a gourmet steak dinner then chucking it up again midair, the tower has a rotating restaurant and controlled jumping on offer.

Champions League winners PSG beat fellow European heavyweights Atletico Madrid at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, the US.Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain opened their Club World Cup campaign with an impressive 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid, underlining to their rivals that they will likely be the team to beat in this tournament. PSG largely dominated Atletico at the Rose Bowl on Sunday in their first match since trouncing Inter Milan 5-0 to win its first Champions League title on May 31. Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha scored in the first half, while Senny Mayulu and Lee Kang-in scored against 10-man Atletico in the second half of their Group B clash. The European giants met at the venue of the 1994 World Cup final for one of the highest-profile matches in the group stage of the first 32-team edition of the Club World Cup. Ousmane Dembele did not feature for PSG after reportedly injuring a quadricep while playing for France on June 6. Goncalo Ramos replaced Dembele in Luis Enrique’s only change to the starting lineup from the Champions League final. Enrique wore shorts and a training shirt on the sideline while coaching PSG in 31 Celsius (88 Fahrenheit) midday California heat. Advertisement PSG controlled possession early, and Ruiz capitalised from just outside the penalty area in the 19th minute. The Spanish midfielder long coveted by Atletico beat Jan Oblak with a clever strike into the far corner. Atletico got a golden chance to tie it in first-half injury time, but Gianluigi Donnarumma swallowed up Antoine Griezmann’s chance in the box. Moments later, Vitinha slipped through the Atletico defence and scored on the break. Julian Alvarez appeared to pull one back for Atletico in the second half, but his goal was chalked off after VAR determined Koke had fouled Desire Doue in the build-up. Atletico’s Clement Lenglet was sent off in the 78th minute with his second yellow card on a frustrating day that left coach Diego Simeone visibly furious at both the referees and his players’ mistakes. Alexander Sorloth somehow missed an open net in the 82nd minute for Atletico in a move that made Simeone fall to his knees in disbelief. Mayulu secured PSG’s victory five minutes later, and Lee converted a penalty with the final kick of the match from the spot after a handball by Robin Le Normand in the box. Man of the match Vitinha told DAZN it was a “very good performance” by his side. “We did a very good game, it is difficult with this temperature. We did well against a tough team, we controlled all of the game. We are happy with the result,” he said. “The toughest thing to do in football is to maintain the level, and that is what I try to do.” PSG coach Enrique also hailed his side’s performance. Advertisement “I think every single player showed their best quality to the team,” he told DAZN. “As a coach, I am happy. Really great to feel that love [from the stadium]. We are happy and want to continue with our ways.” In Sunday’s earlier game, Bayern Munich romped to a 10-0 victory over Auckland City as Jamal Musiala had a hat-trick in a 17-minute span of the second half in front of a crowd that unfurled a banner urging to “Smash FIFA!” while accusing the governing body of mismanagement. Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise scored two goals each for the Bundesliga champions, who went ahead on Coman’s goal six minutes in. Bayern had a 17-1 advantage in shots on target. Musiala, a 22-year-old midfielder, replaced Harry Kane in the 61st minute, making his first appearance since April 4 after recovering from a hamstring injury. He scored in the 67th minute, converted a penalty kick in the 73rd and scored again in the 84th. Before a crowd of 21,152 at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, fans displayed a red-and-white banner referring to the 2015 raid by US law enforcement at a Zurich hotel that led to the arrest of many football officials over corruption allegations: “10 Years Baur Au Lac – World Footb

Tips for Choosing the Best Samsung Galaxy Phone Repair Shop in Auckland
In today’s world, your phone is more than just a gadget—it’s part of your daily life. But what happens when your Galaxy screen cracks or your phone stops charging? Choosing the right place for Galaxy phone repair in Auckland can make or break your experience. Some shops may fix the issue, others might make it worse. So, how do you pick the right one without messing things up?
In this blog, we’ll guide you through what to check, compare options, and explain how Smashed IT gives locals peace of mind when their phones break.

Why Galaxy Phones Are Not Easy to Fix
Samsung Galaxy devices are known for their advanced tech—curved screens, OLED displays, and tight designs. That’s why a simple mistake in repair can lead to more damage. It’s not a job for amateurs.
Choosing a repair shop that works daily with Samsung devices can save you from future headaches.
What You Should Keep In Mind Before Repairing
Here’s what to consider before you leave your device at any shop:
1. Experience with Samsung Models
Some repair shops only handle basic brands. But Galaxy models—from S8 to S23 Ultra—need special attention. Always ask if they’ve handled your model before.
2. Parts They Use
Not all parts are the same. Low-quality replacements might work for a week, then break again. High-grade or OEM parts last longer and keep your phone in top shape.
3. How Long It’ll Take
Quick repairs don’t always mean sloppy work. A good repair shop gives you realistic time frames and delivers on time.
4. Do They Handle Other Devices?
Shops that fix more than just Samsung often have deeper tech skills. At Smashed IT, we handle iPhone repair Auckland, Google Pixel repair, Microsoft Surface repair Auckland, and MacBook screen repairs too.
Table: How to Compare Galaxy Phone Repair Shops

WEEK FOUR
More Photographer Research with same ideas:
Obsidian Urbex Photogrgahy:
"Nature is always waiting in the wings to reclaim what we have taken. When we abandoned our buildings, or discard an old car in a forest, it isn’t long before vegetation colonises what we have left behind. A smashed window or a collapsed roof is all it takes, a small opening for plant-life to enter and take root. In my opinion, the most beautiful of all abandoned places are ones that are being reclaimed by nature."
In their work they have a range of photograghs showing abandon buildings with overgrown nature surroding and growing inside. I really like this idea, and like how the images really show the vibrant green from the nature. It is also taken on a nice cloudy or sunny day. I feel like this really helps set the tone/ vibe of the images and the beauty of nature.
Jo Stephen - Ethereal nature photography
Jo Stephens is a self- taught photographer who captures soft and dreamy nature photographs. "there is a feeling of communion that lifts me from the noisy human world of constant chatter and anxieties and envelops me in a language older than words." They say that nature has helped with their healing and difficult times. In this article they show how they capture their images and other experiments that didn't quite work out. Personally I quite like the dreamy, glowy look these images give and makes me feel like I'm in a dream. I hope to capture similar shots like this for the assignment. To capture these images It would have to be a bright sunny day maybe sometime in the mornings where the sun is not too harsh, along with getting close up, with a nice background.
Photography exhibition – Man v Nature by Claire Lacey
A photography exhibition at Morley College, Westminster in London a photographer named Claire Lacey who is also a student and created a showcase of her work called Lacey In Places. In the exhibition she shows her images called Man V nature. Using her my home county of Suffolk she decided to set her given assessment of her parents’ farm and a former second world war airbase, which is full of overgrown war and farm relics. She decided to show the beauty and interlink growing of man vs nature - how when the two collide it can sometimes create beauty and depth. The project was strongly influenced by photographer Fay Godwin who was convinced the countryside was changing for the worse.
I really like the images Claire has photograghs as in reminds me also of my home town. Her images are quite dark and full of contrast, the images are full of dark green and overgrowing nature. I want to try incorporate the same ideas that are used in this project in my own work using west Auckland as the start of my location then heading more in towards the central city.
