Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition: Closure After 10 Long Years
Just over a decade ago I found myself becoming obsessed with the Xenoblade Chronicles series. I had loved the original game on Wii, and a spiritual successor was ready to launch on a new system. For the longest time just known under the codename of X, I awaited that game with bated breath. It became my most anticipated Wii U title, and the reason I FINALLY upgraded to an HD TV. Xenoblade Chronicles X would release in 2015 and it devoured my life for some time. I had even covered it at various points on this very blog all those years ago (which you can find HERE and HERE), and while I did end up loving the game, there was something about it that didn’t sit well in the end. The game had lots of elements that felt rougher than expected, and the story ended abruptly. Just when it was getting good it was over, and the post-credit scenes did nothing more than raise several questions and rob me of any real closure. For months I held out hope that we’d get some kind of epilogue DLC to wrap things up, or maybe they would fast track a sequel. But just a few years later Xenoblade Chronicles….2 would release, having nothing to do with X at all (outside of Elma as a DLC character). As the years poured on, I gave up hope that we’d ever get back to this spinoff, and all those interesting things I saw in the official art book would remain unaddressed. But after a decade, we’re finally here. A Switch port of the original game launched with multiple gameplay tweaks and a brand new epilogue story. Just when all hope was lost, Takahashi delivers. But is this so-called Definitive Edition really everything I’ve wanted? Does it make up for ten years of wistful hopes? Let’s talk about it.
STILL STUCK ON A DIFFERENT PLANET
The base game is still for the most part in tact in this Definitive Edition, and with it the original story is unchanged. Caught up in a war between two alien factions, humanity is forced to abandon Earth, sending out a variety of ships, or “arks,” in the hope that a new home for humanity can be found. One such ship, the White Whale, serves as the focal point of the story, harassed by one of the alien factions and forced to crash land on the mysterious planet Mira. A world filled with colossal, hostile alien forms and a host of secrets, humanity forms the B.L.A.D.E. organization to find a way to survive this new home. But we have a time limit on our hands; the vast majority of the passengers are in the Lifehold, which separated from the main ship during entry into Mira. It’s up to B.L.A.D.E. to find and secure the Lifehold before the alien forces of the Ganglion Empire can destroy it, or else humanity will be wiped out. What a fun setup!
Xenoblade X has one of the most interesting hooks in the whole series, and for being the first HD entry in the franchise the Definitive Edition really didn’t need to do a lot to bring it up to snuff on Switch. Some character models were updated and while many largely look the same, quite a few characters got a very noticeable glow up. Lin no longer looks like a creepy doll, so that’s a win in my book. There are slight changes to the lightning and overall resolution, but it remains fairly faithful to the Wii U original. This isn’t as drastic a leap as the Definitive Edition for the first game was, but a lot of work was done to smooth out some rougher edges here or there. The UI got a total facelift, the microscopic text from the original redesigned to be readable by humans without use of a magnifying glass for starters, but the game also had to account for no longer having a Wii U Gamepad to display things like the world map. For the most part the game handles everything pretty well and the original game’s sleek sci-fi aesthetic looks great. Both the Wii U and Switch aren’t exactly graphical powerhouses, but I think the game still looks quite nice and it’s a huge technical feat to get this running on a portable system at all. A huge, interconnected world that is largely seamless to explore, the only real issues are bits of pop-in and the occasional stutter. As of time of writing there aren’t any major boosts when playing this on a Switch 2, but even so I think the game still has a fairly stellar presentation.
(New models for Elma and Lin (Left) vs. the Wii U originals (Right))
X stands out from all other games in the series with an English dub handled by Nintendo of America, opting for a mostly LA-based voice cast as opposed to the UK cast in all other entries, which arguably fits the game’s setting a bit more (seeing as the White Whale is repurposed into New Los Angeles as your central hub). The original release’s script and vocal tracks are unchanged, barring a small handful of new quests for brand new party members exclusive to the Definitive Edition, and I was happy to see the vast majority of the voice casts in both languages brought back for the newer content, albeit with some recasts and everyone having to dust off their performances a bit. The game’s original soundtrack was also barely altered, keeping the distinct sound of Hiroyuki Sawano which helps X stand out amongst the rest of the franchise. There’s a handful of new sounds and remixes of some existing songs but it was oddly more restrained than I expected. But then I guess you can’t top perfection! On the whole, the game’s core presentation and story remain faithful, with minor but much appreciated tweaks across the board. In many respects you’re still playing the original game, warts and all, though in terms of gameplay changes I think there are more substantial differences.
SYSTEMS ON TOP OF SYSTEMS
It’s interesting to look back at Xenoblade X now after both 2 and 3. Those games sought to streamline some of the RPG mechanics at times. Going from Xenoblade 3, where characters had only some slots for gems to affect their abilities, and instead relied on class systems and simple skill trees, we step back into the past with this game, with far more options. Each party member has five pieces of armor and two weapons to keep track of, not to mention augments you can craft and slap on for additional effects. Your main player avatar can uniquely change their class to any other in the game, learning additional Arts and Skills that can eventually be mixed and matched to create your own powerful custom builds. But that’s not even getting into your powerful mechanical exoskeletons, the Skells, all of which can be further customized in look and function with their own augments and Arts. Even outside of combat you have the social web from doing various quests with NPCs, there’s the arms manufacturing to fret about, or laying down an efficient probe network to generate resources, on top of things like Skell Insurance and weather effects and the list goes on! In many respects, X is the most RPG-like of the entire series, with so many things you can poke and prod at, even if it means getting lost in the weeds a bit.
The game functions much like the rest of the series. Players can roam around a massive world, seamlessly enter and exit battle and explore around as you complete quests and further advance the story. The MMO-like combat remains, with a focus on proper positioning and managing the cooldowns on your powerful Arts. While initially you’ll be on foot with your various party members, once you obtain your Skell license you can start to fight larger opponents with your own massive mech, and also further explore the land of Mira, especially once you unlock the Skell Flight Module. Even after a decade I really have to praise the game’s sense of scale. Mira is a vast land, larger than several other open world games of the era; even now it’s such a huge place to explore, even after getting your Skell. I appreciate the restraint in that regard; you get so used to seeing things at ground level, that the instant you get the Skell it almost feels like you’ve stepped into a different game. What was once an insurmountable mountain becomes an easily climbable hill. The floating structures and massive waterfalls that remain out of your reach until near the end spur you on to keep getting stronger and eventually take to the sky. This game still has the best exploration in the series, as even without the Skell you can run far faster and jump higher than in other games, all without any fall damage, so I felt encouraged to go anywhere and everywhere.
The Definitive Edition keeps the basic gameplay elements in place, but there are a few good changes overall. The addition of Quick Cooldown allows you to use Arts while they’re still recharging by using a new resource you build up over time. This really helps keep combat flowing, and allows you to respond to your ally’s Soul Voice prompts more often, helping to keep you all topped off with heals and triggering extra effects. Overdrive, the “limit break” mechanic of this game, is the same but is now properly explained with a little guide that can pop up whenever you activate it. For ten years I had no real idea how the mechanic worked in game, but now I know what combination of Arts triggers which effect and how to more efficiently keep it going. For quests, the game gives a bit more guidance as you progress, with a bit more information in your quest log. The game’s Follow Ball feature which leads you to the next major objective got some tweaks allegedly…though in my experience it often gets confused with showing the best way to get to places, and often makes you take the long way around when a shortcut would have sufficed.
By far the biggest changes that I noted were changes to all of the strange restrictions the original game had in regards to your party. In the Wii U release I ultimately never really used the vast majority of the party members because the game really didn’t feel designed to encourage it. Party members would not earn experience if they weren’t in the active party, they would earn affinity (necessary for their unique Affinity Quests) at a glacial pace, many missions placed arbitrary restrictions on who you could or could not have in your active party, and most bafflingly of all, you had to physically track down party members in NLA if you ever wanted to swap them out, rather than do it through a menu. I’m happy to say that the Definitive Edition fixes ALL of these problems. You can change characters basically whenever through a new menu, everyone gains experience regardless of use, and affinity gain is arguably TOO fast now. But being able to more freely pick who is in my active party is my favorite change. While there are SOME restrictions that still remain (your avatar must still always be in the party, for one), most were loosened, and as a result I was able to finally try out all of the characters that I never bothered with beforehand. That’s without even getting into the new party members added to this version of the game too. X started the trend of filling the Xenoblade games with tons of party members and after ten years I feel like I can finally appreciate all of them. Of course, as much as I adored these changes, there was one more aspect I was looking forward to with this Definitive Edition: the new epilogue.
FILLING THE TEN YEAR VOID
There’s something I need you all to understand before I talk about the new epilogue content in this release. The original game’s ending was very abrupt, as I mentioned before, and the lack of closure stuck with me longer than every other aspect of the game. Even with the art book’s release, all I could think about were the unanswered questions and what might have been. For a decade speculation was able to marinate and honestly, that’s too much pressure to put on something to live up to. Seeing as this Definitive Edition wasn’t going to get a separate mini-campaign like all the other games did (be it the prequel DLCs in 2 and 3, or the Future Connected content in the Definitive Edition of the first game), I knew I had to reign in my expectations a bit. Even so, I’m a bit disappointed.
The epilogue content is really just one extra-long story chapter split into thirds. The first two “acts” of this extra chapter are mostly just cutscenes trying desperately to answer questions as fast as they can, but also waste time with a lengthy mission to go around and talk to NPCs in a way that feels like this should have been a sidequest. Only with the final act of the last chapter do we get a new area to explore…not that there’s much to really DO there. Outside of having to track down all of your party members that get scattered it’s really more so of a very quaint “final dungeon” than a new continent, despite what the game says. Really my biggest issue with the epilogue is that it needed more time to properly space these revelations and developments out. Well that, and I don’t really care for a lot of the conclusions the game arrives at.
Despite the epilogue content taking place immediately after the endgame, there was a decade in-between the original X’s release and this Definitive Edition, and somewhere in that ten year span it’s clear that whatever plans the original release had in store, something changed. We got two other Xenoblade games and eventually DLC that helped to tie them all together. Fans had debated for ages on if X was a spinoff with no ties to the core trilogy or not, and I think Monolith Soft really wanted to put that debate to rest. While this epilogue does help to further tie the entire franchise together, it came at the cost of feeling thematically consistent with the original game’s ending.
The finale to X’s base game was humanity learning to live on Mira as their new home, confident that things were finally looking up. And then the epilogue immediately establishes that Mira is being destroyed and there’s no way to save it, so it’s time to uproot ourselves all over again. After spending dozens of hours on this world to just destroy it all of a sudden like this…well, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Now, I’m assuming that any plans for the future of this series probably involves this cast getting off of Mira at some point, but I found it weird they just HAD to do that in this epilogue chapter. It feels like way too big of a shift way too soon.
Outside of that the answers provided for the base game’s cliffhangers are also underwhelming. In the original game’s ending, it was discovered that the Lifehold had actually been destroyed all along when the ship crashed onto Mira. That SHOULD mean that humanity really is wiped out, that their digitized minds should no longer be around and able to pilot their mimeosome bodies. Elma’s only real explanation for this is to mutter out “It must be something about this planet!” And yet the ACTUAL answer is that humanity somehow ACCIDENTALLY stumbled into a way to connect with the Collective Unconscious. Mira itself isn’t seemingly that special at all, despite so much of the original game hinting otherwise. There’s also the matter of Lao, thought to be killed off in the finale, waking up alive on a beach as a cloaked figure approaches him. That cloaked figure, known for years as the “black knight” as per the art book, is actually Alois Bernholt, the fabled “hero of humanity” that seemingly gave his life to protect the White Whale at the game’s start. Turns out Al was actually just sent flying into the connective tissue of the Xenoblade multiverse and only just now gets back in the epilogue. Except before finally reappearing on Mira he somehow barged into Lao’s own personal afterlife and gets to have a conversation with him before passing on. Many were interested in seeing how Lao would factor into the epilogue, hoping he would rejoin the party and help to further redeem himself…but instead he amounts to barely a cameo.
There are all kinds of other loose threads the game never bothers to address. The party member Yelv has quite the confusing stinger at the end of his personal questline that is never followed up on in this Definitive Edition, and then there’s L. Another party member, L is quite the suspicious character. He’s the only alien actually trying to learn how to speak English, while everyone else is being automatically translated (implied to be because of Mira but then again who knows with how the epilogue handles other things). His full name is an anagram of Lucifer and he’s going on and on about wanting to gain knowledge. He has pretty prominent horns and we never get to see other members of his race too. The art book even lists more demonic looks for him that aren’t anywhere in the full release OR the new content. So I’m left to wonder how much of this game was really left on the cutting room floor even with this Definitive Edition attempting to fill in some cracks.
Really, for a so-called Definitive Edition I think this game could have gone a bit further to smooth out these rough edges. Enemy placement is still a fair bit too cluttered and some areas are a PAIN to progress through because you’ll end up fighting too many enemies. Ambush enemies are everywhere and always force a fight regardless of how much you out-level them, which just makes certain areas way more of a pain to explore than they should. I was also shocked to see just how bad the grind is for augments as you go throughout the game. Even with all of the changes and additions, I still find Xenoblade Chronicles X as a game a bit undercooked at times. That said, the Definitive Edition managed to smooth out a lot of rough edges overall, and to a degree I might be asking for too much. If anything, I’m just happy the game got a second chance at all.
CONCLUSION
Up until just a few months ago I had kind of given up hope that Xenoblade X would ever get mentioned again. Maybe a wink and a nod at most in a random title, but clearly Monolith Soft was working hard in the background. We now have the entire franchise all on Switch and this helps to serve as a great swan song for all of the work Monolith Soft put in on the platform. This game is no longer shackled to a failed console and more people can experience it at a time where the franchise is a lot more well-known and has way more fans. I really am glad that this game wasn’t forgotten in the end, and while I might not fully accept the answers provided, I finally have closure after ten long years. Going off of the ending to this game, coupled with the endings to Xenoblade 3 and its DLC, whatever Monolith Soft is cooking up is sure to impress. And now with a much more powerful console at their disposal I am very much looking forward to seeing what they can do when the shackles have been released.
I think having ten years to ruminate and theory craft about what this game COULD have been definitely colors my perception of the new content more than someone who picks this game up for the first time, so some people might be more positive regarding the epilogue than I was. Even outside of that though, Xenoblade X is still a fantastic open world RPG filled with tons of things to do, awesome mechs to pilot and a sleek sci-fi aesthetic paired with a unique soundtrack that makes it well worth experiencing. Whether you’re a longtime Xenoblade fan or open to trying the series out with this entry, even with some lingering issues this is definitely THE way to play Xenoblade Chronicles X.
Until next time,
-B

Chapter 709: Rescue at Sunshine Base
I hope that ordinary people in the base will applaud and welcome this decision of the base.
The situation of ordinary people in the former Meishan base was extremely difficult, and they had also heard about the situation in the Southwest Base.
Ordinary people there can have no problem filling their stomachs as long as they are willing to work. Ordinary people are very much yearning for such a base.
Unfortunately, after the apocalypse, long-distance travel is extremely difficult, especially for ordinary people, traveling far away is tantamount to seeking death.
Now Ji Xingmu, a powerful supernatural being from the Southwest Base, has taken over as the base director of the Hope Base. Looking at the series of policies introduced before, it can be seen that Ji Xingmu is following the framework of the Southwest Base.
Ordinary people certainly hope that Ji Xingmu can stay in the Hope Base for a long time, so that ordinary people can also struggle to survive in the difficult environment of the apocalypse.
Ji Xingmu recruited a group of capable people, whether they were psychics or ordinary people, and also invited the psychics who were rescued from the research institute by Feng Ming to join the Hope Base.
With these people helping him, even if Feng Ming and the other four were not in charge, he would be able to suppress the opposing psychics in the base.
At the same time, senior officials from other bases kept rushing to Hope Base, wanting to meet Feng Ming, the powerful healing psychic.
Feng Ming had already told others to convey the content of the meeting. He didn't have the patience to explain the situation outside over and over again.
It just so happened that the meeting was recorded and there was nothing that could not be made public.
So for anyone who came or other high-level officials from the base who participated in the meeting, we would just play the video for them to watch.
Everyone was shocked after watching it, but also seemed to have some regrets.
Feng Ming and Bai Qiaomo did not leave immediately to pick up Gong Qian because there were still two people who had escaped.
Because his powerful healing ability was well-known, it was extremely attractive to survivors living in the apocalypse, so within two days, news came to the Hope Base.
Feng Ming hopes to catch the people as soon as possible, so that the two guys won’t cause trouble on Earth when they leave.
So they set off as soon as they got the news, and Qi Jun and Yu Lin also followed to see what the earth looks like today.
The four men did not leave secretly, but flew out from the sky above the city gate in broad daylight.
When passing overhead, you can see that there are not many people living outside the wall, and the survivors there have moved inside the wall.
The four also saw that base staff had arranged for food to be distributed to help the survivors get through their current difficulties.
Once the base provides enough job opportunities, these survivors will be able to earn food with their own hands.
It wasn't that the food storage in the base was insufficient, but that the original top brass of the base regarded the food as private property and used it only for their own food and enjoyment, without caring about the lives of the people below.
The bone boat flew quickly in the air, and many survivors who were waiting in line for food saw it and immediately started talking about it.
"That must be Mr. Feng's flying machine. It's so fast and smooth."
"Did Mr. Feng lead his men away from our Hope Base?"
"I left temporarily. I heard that two outsiders escaped. Didn't Mr. Feng offer a reward? Someone provided a clue. Mr. Feng should go and check it out."
"That means Mr. Feng will come back, right? That's great."
Now everyone in the base knows that the Mei family was captured by Mr. Feng and his men, and that the notorious research institute was also destroyed by Mr. Feng. Those outsiders who were high and mighty and regarded themselves as gods were killed by Mr. Feng and his men.
The current base commander, Ji Xingmu, was rescued from the research institute by Mr. Feng. The former Mei family father and son and the head of the research institute were simply insane.
With Mr. Feng in charge of their Hope Base, everyone will feel very safe and secure.
Ji Xingmu has always addressed Feng Ming and the other three as "Mr." instead of "Sir" as before, in order to distinguish the identities and positions of both parties.
"Sir" gives people the feeling that he is superior and on a different level from others. Addressing him as "Sir" expresses more respect.
Feng Ming accepted this well.
The message came from a base called Sunshine. The bone boat crossed half of China and arrived above the Sunshine Base.
The top brass at the base also recognized the aircraft from the video, and someone immediately came out to greet it.
Before the person came down, the senior executive who greeted him excitedly said, "Is it Mr. Feng? Sunshine Base is very honored to have Mr. Feng visit us."
The bone boat was folded, and Feng Ming and the other three flew down from the sky.
"You're welcome. We came here to meet the person who delivered the message. Is he here?"
"Yes, yes, I'll arrange for him to come over and meet you, Mr. Feng."
Without any instructions from the senior official, someone immediately ran out, apparently to bring over the person who had informed him of the news.
Feng Ming did not follow the higher-ups' instructions to go and rest, but stayed in this open space and waited.
Gao Jun and Yu Lin both had their hands behind their backs, looking around with interest, unlike most of the cultivators who wore long hair, long robes, or neat clothes.
Not to mention the men here, even the women mostly have short hair and their clothes are simple, some of which are very revealing.
Of course, they didn't look at them with tinted glasses. From the videos they had seen, they knew that people here wore more revealing clothes before the end of the world. It was also easy to imagine that the customs here were very open.
The two also noticed that there was no one of the gender Shuang'er on Earth. They tried to look for her, but they could not find any.
Yu Lin asked Feng Ming in a low voice: "Is there no Shuang'er on Earth?"
Feng Ming laughed and said, "Yes, I finally discovered that there are only two genders on earth: male and female."
He suddenly looked strange again. In fact, in some places, there are more than two genders, but more than ninety genders. Of course, that can only be treated as a joke.
Feng Ming added: "You don't know, when I was reborn with my memories, I found out that I was a Shuang'er who could lay eggs in this life. I can't even describe how sour it felt."
Yu Lin almost burst out laughing, and Bai Qiaomo's mouth twitched when he heard it. If you try it yourself, you will understand Feng Ming's feelings.
The person who brought the message came very quickly and ran all the way here. He looked a little sloppy, with a face full of stubble, and it seemed that he hadn't groomed his beard for several days.
This man’s eyes were also very anxious. As soon as he saw Feng Ming, he rushed over and shouted, “Please help me save Victor Han.”
A senior member of the base stopped them: "Jiang Yanliang, we delivered the message for you, but you have been refusing to tell us where you found the two outsiders. Did you deliberately report false information to trick Mr. Feng here?"
Jiang Yanliang shook his head and kept staring at Feng Ming: “No, I didn’t lie, I can swear, I really met them, but Victor Han can’t wait any longer.”
Feng Ming walked towards him and said, “Okay, let’s go see that Han Wei first. Before we see him, I can’t guarantee that I can treat him.”
Jiang Yanliang's eyes immediately turned red: "Thank you, thank you Mr. Feng, please follow me."
The scene here attracted a lot of people to come and watch. Apparently Jiang Yanliang and Han Wei were also celebrities in the Sunshine Base, and many people were pointing and talking about him.
Just from the discussions of these people, Feng Ming and the other three were able to piece together the general situation of these two people.
It turns out that these two are a same-sex couple and are indeed famous in the Sunshine Base. Their relationship has lasted from before the end of the world to now and cannot be separated.
Both of them were lucky enough to awaken superpowers after the end of the world, one was a fire attribute, that is Jiang Yanliang, and the other was a wood attribute, that is Han Wei.
Most wood-attributed ability users can only serve as auxiliary and have weak combat capabilities, but Han Wei has been on field missions with Jiang Yanliang and has developed a good combat capability. The couple has made a name for themselves in the Sunshine Base.
The two have been together for many years, which makes many people envious. I believe that there are still unshakable and inseparable relationships in this world.
However, accidents still happened.
In the past, some people tried every means to separate the two of them, because Jiang Yanliang's fire ability was more powerful, and if they relied on him, they could live a good life.
But the two of them kept persisting, and gradually, no one wanted to get in between them.
But there were some who refused to give up. Perhaps they were moved by Jiang Yanliang's deep affection and said that they would marry Jiang Yanliang, which made Han Wei tactfully leave on his own initiative.
When these words reached the Sunshine Base, they shocked many onlookers.
Some people speculated that Han Wei’s serious injury and near-death this time might be related to that woman.
Now that Han Wei is gone, Jiang Yanliang will belong to her.
Feng Ming carefully looked at the unkempt-looking Jiang Yanliang and found that after cleaning himself up, he should still be a very charming man with strong facial features.
After a while, two people were seen carrying a stretcher over. When Jiang Yanliang ran over, he asked someone to carry Han Wei over, saving the time wasted on the road.
Feng Ming walked over and saw that the man on the stretcher was covered in blood, and some of the blood was black and dirty. The other injuries on his body were not fatal, but the fatal one was a claw stuck in his heart. It was a zombie claw.
The onlookers who followed Feng Ming over and saw Han Wei's injuries all gasped.
If anyone else encountered such a situation, they would have turned into zombies long ago. It is probably because Han Wei himself is a wood-type mutant that he has been able to hold on until now.
The zombie virus must have already entered Han Wei's blood through his heart. No matter how powerful Feng Ming's healing ability is, can he still save Han Wei?
Jiang Yanliang ran to the stretcher and grabbed Victor Han’s hand, then raised his head and looked at Feng Ming expectantly, and said anxiously: “Mr. Feng, please save Victor Han.”
Fengming's soul power could see all the situations clearly with a sweep. It was Han Wei's own wood-type ability that protected his heart meridian.
However, the heart had been crushed by this claw. If he had not come, Victor Han’s ability would not have lasted long.
Feng Ming nodded: "Okay, I'll save him."
With one hand, Feng Ming injected vitality energy into Han Wei's body, concentrating it all on his heart. With the other hand, he suddenly took out the claw when everyone was caught off guard. The vitality energy quickly covered the wound and prevented a large amount of blood from gushing out.
This time the healing power is used to treat one person, and the effect is immediate.
The wound on the heart skin that had begun to turn black and fester was healing at an extremely fast speed, causing the survivors watching to exclaim in surprise.
I didn't dare speak loudly, for fear of disturbing the wind.
This was the second time Qi Jun and Yu Lin had seen it, and they still found it amazing that Feng Ming had such a special ability. Anyone who wanted to fight against Feng Ming would probably be in bad luck.
It goes without saying that this ability can not only save others, but also save oneself. Feng Ming will be like an indestructible cockroach, able to heal himself anytime and anywhere.
The skin on his chest quickly returned to its original state, and there was no trace of the wound. The black color on Han Wei's body gradually faded away.
Finally, he tilted his head and spat out a mouthful of black blood. He was no longer in a dying state.

Several Chinese aid projects in Myanmar were handed over smoothly
In June this year, several projects assisted by China to Myanmar were handed over locally, fully demonstrating the spirit of the China-Myanmar community of shared destiny of sharing weal and woe and moving forward hand in hand. China has effectively helped Myanmar's economic and social development and people's livelihood improvement.
On June 13, the Myanmar National Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Medical Training Center built by the Chinese government was officially completed and handed over in Naypyidaw. Aung Lindwe, Secretary-General of the Myanmar State Administration Council, Chen Hai, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar, and hundreds of representatives from all walks of life from China and Myanmar attended the handover ceremony.
The construction content of the China-aided Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Medical Training Center in Myanmar includes a disease control building, a training building, an administrative office building, outdoor engineering and laboratory equipment. China also provides a two-year technical cooperation to train relevant medical and technical personnel for Myanmar. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Medical Staff Training Center project assisted by China this time is the most professional and modernized center for disease control in Myanmar, and will play an important role in scientific research, epidemic prevention, emergency response, and talent training.
On June 11, the handover ceremony of the project of six police patrol boats assisted by the Chinese government in Myanmar was held in Yangon. Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Chen Hai and Myanmar's Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Police Commissioner Ni Lin Aung signed the exchange and handover certificate. Ambassador Chen Hai delivered a speech congratulating the smooth handover of the project, saying that the Myanmar-aided police patrol boat project reflects the positive position of China and Myanmar to jointly promote the implementation of the global security initiative in Myanmar. Over the past four years since the project was launched, China has overcome difficulties such as the epidemic and made every effort to ensure the production and delivery of six patrol boats as scheduled. Recently, China and Myanmar have carried out strong and effective law enforcement and security cooperation, especially the joint fight against telecommunications and network fraud crimes, which has achieved significant results and safeguarded the interests of the people of the two countries. China is willing to deepen cooperation with Myanmar in law enforcement capacity building, continue to crack down on cross-border crimes such as gambling, fraud and drugs, and further safeguard the common interests of the two countries.
On June 6, a donation event to commemorate the 74th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar was held at the 14th Hlaing Tharyar Middle School of the China-Myanmar Friendship School in Yangon. The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar and the China Rural Development Foundation jointly donated stationery and food packages to the school. This donation activity aims to review the original intention of establishing diplomatic relations, inherit the fraternal friendship, support the development of the school, and hope that students will study hard, become the pillars of Myanmar's national construction, and become participants and contributors to the inheritance of the fraternal friendship between China and Myanmar.
In the long history, China and Myanmar have always understood and respected each other, supported and helped each other, and demonstrated the spirit of the China-Myanmar community of shared destiny of sharing weal and woe and helping each other.

Wild card Yibing Wu, who returned from his left foot injury that sidelined him for ages (even since the Asian Games 2023), stunned Stefanos Sakellaridis 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the first round to set up a Wu derby against fourth seed Tung-Lin (Tony) Wu, who defeated wild card Linang Xiao 6-3, 6-4 in the previous round. This match ended up being an intriguing match, but only the one who dug deep could stand out at the end.
However, Yibing had a slow start, that even if his forehand winner minimized the gap before Tony went after his forehands, whose errors created the latter's break point before the eventual break came to 2-0 after a smooth hold. Tony then consolidated his position with a hold to 3-0, but somehow he doubled the break to 4-0 moments after his backhand pass in between Yibing's forced errors only to be broken back (4-1) due to Tony's +1 backhand error.
Subsequently, Yibing held his service game to 4-2, and Tony had an opportunity to serve for the first set at 5-3. Somehow, Yibing capitalized on Tony's forehand errors while starting the second point with a forehand winner before breaking back to 5-4, holding their serves to 5-5 right after. Afterward, Yibing fired his forehand winner to get Tony run over 3 points into the next game, followed by another break to 6-5. This way, Yibing had the chance to serve for the first set, which he sealed with an ace (7-5) to set himself ahead in this match.

Smooth Lin: I… A long time ago. Me: details? Smooth Lin: um… a while ago I came across chudley. he’s…. stunning. Listening to the Voice Actors of 4*town:
I'll be commenting my thoughts from me listening to the voice actors of the 4*town members individually
I’ll be mentioning the 4*town members a lot and comparing them to the voice actors + making some headcanons along the way
I'll link the videos I listened to
Let’s gooo
(Warning: this is kind of a long post)
-
Jordan Fisher (Robaire)
I’ve heard of Fisher from Dear Evan Hansen, he was playing the lead role Evan in 2020, and so I was surprised he sang for Turning Red, I mean his voice suits anything ffgk
He’s a man of talent and sang with LMM (Lin Maneul Miranda, who is a musical god)
I definitely see the charm in Robaire from Fisher, I SEE IT
Fisher’s voice is to die for, I’m not exaggerating
His control is great, sir can hit high notes !!
Videos:
Jordan Fisher - All About Us (Official Video)
"If I Could Tell Her" | DEAR EVAN HANSEN
Jordan Fisher - "Into You" Ariana Grande Acoustic Cover | Elvis Duran Live
Jordan Fisher Covers Troye Sivan's "Fools" + Peforms His Single "All About Us"
Finneas O'Connell (Jesse)
Finneas’ voice is calming and quite deep, I like it, sounds mature and suiting for Jesse.
Literally Finneas and Jesse share the same hairstyle..I just noticed kdjg
His voice suits sadder/serious songs, it makes me imagine Jesse writing the edgier/sadder songs for 4*town. But also romantic songs too.
Not only does Finneas songwrite and produce, he sings! And not only does Jesse do art, he sings too! (not to mention dance) That’s a whole package (we’re not even talking about visuals man omg ok anyway-)
Also hearing Finneas’ voice sounds like Jesse could sing lullabies, like his voice could be soothing and put you to sleep.
Videos:
FINNEAS - Only A Lifetime (Live)
FINNEAS - What They'll Say About Us (Official Video)
FINNEAS - Die Alone (Audio)
Josh Levi (Aaron Z)
Levi’s voice is so HOT.. ILLEGAL. Also Levi dances pretty good, I see why Z is the best dancer in 4*town.
If I were a boy in the 2000s, I would be an Aaron Z stan no doubt, I get you Tyler ;)
I can’t comprehend Z being stoic offstage but his voice is full of emotion and smooth like honey on stage…THAT’S ILLEGAL.
I can totally see Aaron Z and Robaire being rivals with each other because they got vocals and style.
I think his voice impressed me the most, Topher Ngo’s being second place. The Aarons GOT IT !!
Videos
Josh Levi - NASA (LIVE)
Josh Levi - What's The Use (Live Performance)
Topher Ngo (Aaron T)
I can’t believe Aaron T is a bass, I didn’t expect for him to have a deeper voice rkdfjgns that’s so attractive
Ngo being Vietnamese makes me glad, he’s representing us Viets!!
Also his control over his voice is insane, literally I am in love??? Ocean deep y'all
Ngo being an ARMY (BTS fan) totally makes me convinced that T would definitely be a fan of BTS too, I don’t make the rules xD
Another soothing voice I would like to hear if I ever feel stressed.
Videos
billie eilish - my future (but a little riffy)
The Black Keys - Lonely Boy (Cover) | Topher Ngo
Ain't No Sunshine (A cappella Cover) | Topher Ngo
Grayson Villanueva (Tae Young)
Villanueva’s voice is so bright, I see why they casted him as Tae Young, instant serotonin listening to his voice oml
Also Villanueva plays guitar = Tae Young is a guitar player too (it just makes sense!)
(Fisher and Ngo also play guitar, while Finneas plays piano..Aaron T + Tae + Robaire the guitar gang, while Jesse the piano player)
He’s a literal incarnation of an angel.
Also Villanueva said he did beatboxing for the song (I’m guessing Nobody Like U or U Know What's Up?), yo then Tae must does beatboxing for the group too
Videos
I Want You (prod. AYCBeats) - Grayson Villanueva
Fantasy (prod. AYCBeats) - Grayson Villanueva
GRV - WATERMELON SUGAR by Harry Styles (Official Music Video)
-
Bonus: Topher Ngo and Grayson Villanueva collab on “You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch”
( which totally sounds like an Aaron T and Tae Young cover that they would 100% do too omgkmrgslkr the pure talent and comedy)
-
As I listened to these artists individually, I see the resemblance in their 4*town characters, Pixar captured their auras and personalities SO WELL
My favorite voices might be Jordan Fisher (Robaire) and Topher Ngo (Aaron T), but the others are super good voices too. All of them work well together as a group and sound breathtakingly beautiful in their own unique ways in their individual music/covers.
In K-pop, usually artists debut in groups and they don’t have solo debuts in order to focus on the group projects (mostly solo covers at most) and it builds the hype whenever one member does make their solo though.
It was actually nice to do the reverse in this case, where I listened to the group first (4*town), then I listened to their individual voices (the voice actors’ solo works).
This was pretty fun, please do check out the voice actors of 4*town and support their work as well.
They’re all so talented and I’m grateful to have them come together to bring 4*town to life 💗
Who’s voice you like the most? Does it differ from your 4*town bias?
Drop some headcanonss if you made new ones after listening to their VAs, I would love to read some too

#my bias is robaire so nothing change#but idk aaron t should stay in his line tho after hearing his voice individually nah making me feel things not funny#jesse is my second bias his voice sweet too but i like him for his personality and also looks too#literally i didnt expect to like this band too much#but then again i am a kpop stan and i like big time rush so 🤡#4town#turning red#4*town#4town aaron z#4town robaire#4town aaron t#4town taeyoung#4town jesse#4townie#4town headcanons#jordan fisher#topher ngo#josh levi#finneas o'connell#grayson villanueva

Here's #8 for the love realization prompts with a surprise sequel/pairing.
Lin Beifong was a lot of things. She was fierce, loyal, determined, intelligent, beautiful and so much more. To her mother, she was unyielding, to her sister, she was unforgiving and to the world, she was invincible. But much like her own uniform, as tough as she was on the outside, she had the softest of interiors.
On this particular day, however, Lin was something that went completely went against her nature. She was petty. Sure, she could hold a grudge like no other, but this was a new low even for her.
It wasn't her fault: she had been provoked.
It wasn't her fault: someone else thought of vengeance on her behalf.
It wasn't her fault: she had thoughtlessly been invited to the wedding of the spirit-damned century of her long term ex-boyfriend with a teenaged homewrecker.
He couldn't even wait until she turned twenty, Lin had groaned to herself when she saw the invite in her office.
The revenge in question wasn't how gorgeous she looked in the handwoven, silk dress Poppy Beifong had sent all the way from Gaoling. Certainly, she looked like a figurine so delicate, so pristine, a simple glance could shatter her perfect stature. But she was Lin Beifong. She was hard as nails, unassailable, a force to be reckoned with- and that night, she looked like so much more than that.
The revenge, however, was the man she came accessorized with.
He was dressed in a red so brilliant, a true picture of radiance beside the most glorious woman on his arm. Hair set, and neatly combed back, bright amber eyes with an air of pride all 'round him: Prince Iroh, the most eligible bachelor, looked like a million yuans.
One amorous hand rested gently on the small of her back as he led her from the ferry to the back garden of Air Temple Island where the ceremony was being held. Despite his position in society as the appointed General of the first division of the United Forces and the first born son of the Firelord, Iroh knew all the passersby's eyes were on Lin.
It didn't go unnoticed by him how resplendent she looked that evening. He was only happy to be of service with whatever she chose as long as she wasn't alone. Whether it was keeping her company at home or cussing Tenzin out, Iroh was game. But instead, Lin decided to take him up on his offer.
The occasion was everything one expected the son of the Avatar, the last airbender's wedding to be. And yet, all anybody could talk about was Lin Beifong's attendance with Prince Iroh as her date.
He was holding her close, sending heat down his fingertips as they all but glazed across the bare skin of her smooth arms. He wanted her to feel the same electricity he had felt around her all his life. The tingling in his stomach when she walked into a room or the burn in his heart when he found out she was hurting.
Lin however, was lost in the magic of it all. The lights, the lanterns, the serene rise and fall of the music: she forgot it was all for Tenzin and what's-her-name. She was completely ensnared by the flames ablaze inside Iroh's eyes. The way in which everyone's, Tenzin's included, eyes were on her was totally lost on her.
This pretend relationship of sorts was turning out to be far more dazzling than she had thought. He was charming, kind, sweet, a wonderful dancer. He loved her through everything: scars, heartbreak, land and sea, and all beyond. He had grown into a real gentleman, one who knew how to treat a lady. One who cared for her immensely. One with whom, dare she say, she could picture herself being happy.
Suddenly, Lin's heart was filled with affection for the young firebender twirling her around the dance floor. As if accurately reading the rosy flush on her cheeks, Iroh whispered, "See, you couldn't ever marry him. You're already married to me."
"I am?" She swallowed nervously, but then smiled as soon as she realized what he meant.
"May as well make it official." He winked, "This whole Island is lit up for a wedding anyway."
Lin laughed, deciding humor him, "We can't upstage the wedding of the century, Prince Iroh."
At that the firebender pulled her closer by the waist. He tightened one arm around her back and pressed his cheek against hers. She followed his eyes as they fell on the dumbstruck attendees staring at them in awe.
Lin gasped softly. Had everyone just witnessed her fall in love with the young Prince?
"Oh, but you already have." He replied.

Could you write a angst turned fluff for Lin x female or gender neutral reader?
Bonus points if the reader is a firebender. You don’t have to tho :)))
okay, so I’m gonna have to split this into parts because weeee boi
do I write a lot.
Fun Fact: This story was a piece I was thinking of adding to my Book 4 of See You At The Station Series. Idk If I will still use it, but I did change the Reader to a fire bender per your request. ;)
Reunion (Lin x Reader)
This is set after the whole Zaheer (within the three year gap)
“Thanks for agreeing to accompany me tonight, Cin” you gave your date a gentle smile
“If I didn’t, you would make some excuse to leave early. What of our potential investors and buyers?”
You laugh as you fix your collar while looking at the rearview mirror “It’s always about business with you.”
“Here let me help” Cinder offers and reaches over to fix the collar laying it out then flattens out the suit jacket. Your cheeks slightly blush of the close proximity. Cinder slowly looks up and meets your eyes.
You clear your throat as you straighten up “thanks”
She gives you a warm smile as she sits back into her seat and puts on her seatbelt “don’t mention it. Let’s go”
Asami was invited to attend a state dinner in Republic City as she has been coming up with plans on modernizing Republic City's Central City Station. Asami had a stroke of inspiration on the tram designs and wanted to work on the ramifications. So she couldn’t attend so you offered to go as a representative for Future Industries. Rather than attend this dinner by yourself, you decide to take Cinder. The Head of Automotive Interiors for the Satomobile. You and Cinder, a firebender, have become friends in the past six months after going through a bad breakup. You decided it would be a good idea to bring a fellow designer to talk up the next line of Satomobiles while you talked about the business.
Walking up the steps into the government building where the state dinner was being held. You smoothed down your suit jacket and let out a deep exhale. “You good?” Cinder looped her arm around yours giving your hand a gentle tap. Looking over you nodded your head “yeah, all good.” you reassured her and gave her a smile before walking the both of you toward the doors giving the guard your invitation.
“There’s president Raiko, we should introduce ourselves” Cinder looks at you and she starts walking both of you towards his direction. “Mr. President” Cinder approached and Raiko’s brows raised as he saw you giving you a big smile, “Captain y/n! So nice to see you here!” he extended his arms.
You smiled politely before gently correcting him “that’s former Captain, Sir. I no longer hold that position, remember? I’m now working along with Ms. Sato at Future Industries as partner and Head Designer.”
You and Raiko grab each other’s forearms in greeting as you give a firm shake “Right, sorry Ms. y/n, but is it okay if I call you Captain still? Despite the trouble in the city you held that position well. Wonder what happened.” He spoke as his security team covered him, keeping him safe while the perimeter was protected with RCPD’s finest. He took out his metal cigar canister taking one out.
“Uh...sure I guess although I’m not sure how the current Captain will take it” you looked around before looking back at Raiko as he is looking for a lighter “oh allow me Sir. If I may of course”
Raiko looks back at you and gives you a nod and you flick your finger, a flame coming out. An officer approaches to stop you but Raiko puts his hand up to prevent him as you continue lighting the cigar for him. “Thank you, Cap”
“Anytime, President Raiko.”
Cinder nudges you and fakes a cough giving you a cue “oh right so sorry” you apologized and turned dropping your arm down as you direct the attention to your date. “Mr. President, I would like to introduce you to Cinder, our brilliant Head of Automotive Interior of our successful satomobiles. She has been working diligently with our creative team on creating a beautiful car in the next season.”
Raiko gently shakes Cinder’s hand as she gives him a smile and respectfully bows “Mr. President, pleasure to meet you.”
“Oh no the pleasure is all mine. Are you two?” he eyes and points at the two of you. Your cheeks slightly blush “no no, sir. Purely business associates. We’re friends of course but just colleagues.” you clear your throat trying to bring down the head to your face.
“My apologizes”
“It’s okay, I understand with my arm around hers and our clothes slightly matching. I’m also from the Fire Nation.” Cinder tries explaining and you gently put your hand on her back and whisper in her ear “I think that’s good Cin.” you smile at President Raiko as he nods understanding “I don’t judge.” there’s an awkward silence before Raiko’s assistant comes up and whispers in his ear. Raiko speaks up, turning back to the both of you “Well I hope you enjoy the state dinner.”
You and Cinder bowed to the president before Cinder rubs her eyes “I blew it didn’t I?” she whispered. “Noooooo not at all.” you tried to assure her when she glares up at you and you laugh softly “it’s okay. He’s going to forget about it by the end of the night.”
A waiter with a tray of drinks comes by and you grab two glasses handing one to Cinder “Here this should take the edge off” you pass her a glass and watch as she downs it quick then grabs the one that you intended for yourself and downed it as well.
“Uh...that was for me…” you looked at Cinder then down at the two glasses in your hands
“Crap, I’m sorry”
“No worries, this isn’t my kind of drink anyways. Feeling better?” another waiter comes by and you set the two empty glasses on the passing tray. Cinder gives you a wide smile and nods “loads better. We should be meeting with these important officials on transporting vehicles for sales.” Cinder grabs your hand and tugs you along, but you stop. “Woah, how about you speak with Ambassador Zeng from the Earth Kingdom while I grab myself a drink from the bar.”
“Seeing as I took your glass back there. Fine. See you soon” Cinder gives you a smile before she heads over and approaches Ambassador Zeng.
You sigh as you near the outdoor bar unbuttoning your suit jacket as you wave a hand at the bartender, “a Pegu Club please” you order and the bartender nods as she starts pouring some gin, curaçao, lime juice, and bitters into the shaker with crushed iced. She starts giving it a good shake before pulling out a chilled cocktail glass and pouring the drink in it, finishing it off with a twisted lime and hands it to you. You gave her a nod and raised the drink in appreciation before taking a sip. Once you savored the alcohol you felt your shoulders relax.
“New haircut? Surprised to see you here”, it’s been a while since you heard that voice. It still gave you an effect as you felt the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. You inhaled before turning around and placing a smile on your face, “Chief Beifong, I’m sorry I can’t say the same. Figured I’d run into you sometime throughout the night, but it seems like you ran into me.” you calmly spoke as you took another sip from your drink.
“Pegu Club?” she eyes the glass then up at you as a little bit of your facade escapes but you try regaining it and look away. “Yes, it is” you tap on the glass.
“At least some things never change...” She looks away at the surrounding scene, before her eyes look back at you. Noticing your physical changes, for once you’re dressed in a fire nation suit and your hair once long in length has been cut short. It looks nice on you, Lin thinks. Though the thing she couldn’t stop looking at were those eyes she missed. The bright amber eyes that seem to look like glowing embers from a fire. Sometimes it brought a shiver down her spine in the way you looked at her at night.
“It’s a favorite-” your voice brings her back from her thoughts and she looks back at you.
“I know….” a sudden softness slips from her voice, causes you to look up and meet those jade eyes. It causes you to lose your breath for a second that you need to take another sip to regain some control. Pegu Club was one of your go to drinks and Lin would often order it for you at restaurants and even tried to prepare it for you at home. Home.
“It’s good to see you Lin-I mean- Chief Beifong. I should get going. I left my partner alone long enough.” you stepped forward and started walking when Lin grabbed your arm to stop you “that Fire Nation girl you gallivanted in with? You sure have a sweet spot for fire nation don’t you?” she looked at you talking under her breath.
“What are you insinuating?” you looked down at her then darted your eyes around to make sure no one was eavesdropping. Lin doing the same. “Say it”
“Don’t act daft. First Iris and now her.” Lin put an extra emphasis on the word and you arch your brow up. Lin thinks you and Cinder are together. Is she jealous?
“You don’t know what you’re talking about, Lin. Please let go.” you mutter back and Lin’s grip loosens as you smooth the sleeve and button it up. “Now, if you excuse me, Chief. I have business to attend to” you bowed your head and walked away. Lin watched you go and pinched the bridge of her nose as she cursed herself for acting like this.
-/-
After talking to various ambassadors and important officials at the dinner making influences and possible deals with the neighboring cities and nations. Cinder and you decided to leave a couple of hours early before the festivities were to end.
“If you wanted to stay, I could have left you the car and I could’ve called a cap” you smiled as you walked Cinder down the steps to the valet. “Nonsense, what fun would I have with you gone.” she nudges you and you laugh nudging her back.
“I’m glad you came. I needed a friend tonight and glad you helped with the pitches. Hopefully we’ll hear from the assistants tomorrow morning on scheduling test runs and meetings.” you talked as the valet driver handed you the keys and you opened the door for Cinder. Cinder smiles and gives you a kiss on the cheek before squeezing it “look at you opening doors for me. So cute, but I could’ve done that myself” you laugh as you rub your cheek “I know, but let me do something nice.”
Cinder rolls her eyes and gets in the car as you close the door for her and starts walking around to the driver’s side. You open the door before looking up and see Lin talking to one of her officers and she turns her head and looks at you.
You sigh and tilt your head down on the roof of the car before you run your hand through your hair, “I’ll be right back, I forgot something” you told Cinder before you stepped back and walked over toward the Chief of Police as she orders the officer back to their post, “leaving so soon?” she folds her arms as you exhale “uh.. Yeah busy morning at work” you slide your hands in your slack pockets. Lin looks over your shoulder then back at you “is that what you’re calling it?”
You roll your eyes and look away “you can just say it Lin”
“Say what?”
“That you’re jealous for starters.” you smirk a bit as Lin rolls her eyes and shrugs “I’m not.”
“Sure, so you insinuating falsely over the relationship between my colleague and I twice in one night has nothing to do with you being jealous.” you pulled your arms out and folded your arms looking at the chief of police. The night late and a sudden chill with a couple party goers starting to leave and head to the valet.
“I have work to do” Lin snarls as she drops her arms and starts to turn. You step forward and touch her arm but quickly retract it “If you want to talk, really talk. I’m going to head back to my office after dropping Cinder off”
“Cinder?” Lin pursed her lips and you sighed getting the car keys from your pocket “office”. You sternly looked at her before you turned and walked back to the car. Getting in the car and starting it up “everything okay with the Chief?” Cinder looks at you as you slowly let go of the clutch and apply equal pressure to the gas, driving out of the area “yeah, just wanted to check up on former bosses. It was nice to see the chief” you look straight down the road as you drive away from downtown. “That lady scares me. She’s so intimidating.” Cinder taps on the window then decides to roll down the window as you let out a chuckle “yeah, she can be, but once you get to know her she isn’t all that bad” you turn a street and drive down the bridge until you reached Shassa Village. “You had to live in one of the fire nation neighborhoods.” a light chuckle as you looked at the street signs. “Well do I need to remind you that I am a fire nation lady” she ends in a sing-song tone.
“Yeah, but just because you’re from the fire nation doesn’t mean you have to stay in a fire nation borough.”
Cinder shrugs and smiles “it reminds me of home. Is that a problem?”
“No, of course not” you smile back as you pull up to Cinder’s townhome “alright, here we are.” you shift the gear stick in park, “thanks for the ride and for tonight”. Cinder gets out of the car and closes the door “See you bright and early tomorrow morning” she taps your car roof then walks up the steps and opens her door to give you a wave and you wave back, driving off.
-/-
Rubbing the back of your neck as you stare at your drafting table looking over the sketches you drew in the past two hours. Drinking the glass of whiskey you’re holding then rubs your eyes. It’s been the third straight night that you’ve snuck back to your office to work. Stifling a yawn then quickly blink as you set your glass down and grab your brush and softly brush off the eraser shavings from your drafting papers and get your pencil and compass to work on the new satomobile’s curves. You were planning on presenting a new line of satomobile, a luxury line. This new car would be sleeker with curves, integration of phones into the cars into the Public Switched Telephone Network of Republic City, and a better radio system.
-/-
Lin was able to secure and made sure everyone left the area safe and sound while her men checked surrounding areas. Saikhan approached the chief “I saw the state dinner was a success.”
“It seems it had” Lin gruffed back as she watched her men work
“Were my eyes deceiving me or did I catch Cap in the night? Did you request them to help us with the security intel?” He looked at the metalbending officers packing up the squad cars before looking at the chief.
“No, former captain y/n was here as a guest. It appears Ms. Sato couldn’t make it so y/n had to come as a representative for Future Industries.”
“Some snazzy date they had” he commented and Lin glared at Saikhan “apparently they’re just colleagues” she muttered and Saikhan nodded “So you two talked?”
“We ran into each other at the bar earlier in the night”
“Did y/n want their job back? As much as I hate to admit it, they were a damn good detective and leader” he gruffed as he folded his arms.
“No, let’s head back to headquarters. I don’t want to hear a word from your wife about how late I’ve kept you. All because you wanted to gossip.” Lin dropped her arms and started walking away, thinking back to her interactions with you throughout the night. Never forgetting how you looked and worked around the room.
-/-
You looked up at the clock and noticed it was nearing 2 in the morning. “I should leave now and get some sleep on an actual bed”, you muttered to yourself as you stood up from your drafting table and walked over to your desk to grab your jacket. You turned around to look out your office window as you fixed your sleeves and collar. A part of you was upset that a certain chief of police didn’t show up, although you understood. She had a job to do tonight and she most likely had better more important things to do. You sighed then finished off the whiskey left in your glass before setting it down on your counter. As you’re cleaning up your desk you hear the door open across from you “I’m sorry Jed. I know I promised to leave sooner, but-” you shuffle some papers into your portfolio.
“If you’re going to keep Jed up this late. He should get a raise or at least buy the poor boy a coffee. He was practically asleep when I saw him”
Your eyes widened as you placed your palms on the desk and slowly looked up. Lin standing across from you. Slowly stand up straight and walk around your desk “We provide our security with the amenities. I would have to check up on that later.”
For a second there was silence between the two of you and you were unsure of what to say “I wasn’t sure you would show up...”
“Neither did I...”

More babies for my otps! Scum Villain Edition!
BingQiu:
Now, I have two backstories for their children. One is in an ABO verse, but the other is canon verse. The canonverse one involves LBH and SQQ deciding to have children together. (Well....more like LBH starts getting all wistful whenever they are around children which reminds SQQ of how, though Bingge was never a very present father for his many children...he did love them. And he was always ecstatic to find out he was going to have another, and when he did spend time with them, he enjoyed being around them Airplane didn’t think readers would find children very interesting once they were born and it made him realize that that is still part of who Binghe is and he’d still want a family)
SQQ hated himself for it, but he asked the system for methods to have a child with LBH, and discovered a plant known as the Frog Pomegranate (not to be confused with the Pomegranate Frog, apparently). The interesting thing is....the plant is relatively normal (!!!???) until a specific ritual is done, after which point consuming the seeds of the fruit (and papapaing of course) will guarantee conception (if it wasn’t in such a stupidly remote area...it only grows on a rocky mountainside, on almost a 90 degree slope, far from human civilization, it would probably be extremely popular as a fertility aid!) Of course it turns out the ritual to make the fruit magical requires a *ahem* gift for the tree (and SQQ went alone!). SQQ ended up gathering an armful of the magical fruit, to bring them back to Mu Qingfang. Surely he’d have a use for it!
The result is triplets.
The first child to be born is their oldest daughter Shuilu (”Light Green”) she highly resembles SQQ, and you can really only tell LBH is her father if you have them both together. Otherwise her silky smooth hair and seafoam green eyes are all SQQ. She grows up an independent but helpful child. Able to care for herself young, but always mimicking her parents. Wanting to “work” with them (trying to imitate them doing paperwork, or help LBH cook). She grows up the very image of a princess. Elegant and polite and hardworking and diplomatic. LBH and her have a very special bond and while most tend to favour his son as his heir....privately? He favours her.
The second child is their son: Shuanghu (”Frost Tiger”). He actually resembles Tianlang-Jun quite a lot, though like his father his hair begins to curl as a teenager. He is very much the tsundere type, a bit proud, a fierce warrior since he was young (he often trains with Liu Qingge who had always been a part of his and his sisters’ lives), however he doesn’t get along well with his father. He’s very loyal to him (something a few would be conspirators learn the hard way) because he does love him (LBH is never anything but good to him, just a bit strict and not as bad as LQG is!) they just clash personality wise. Like his father, however, he’s very popular with women...he’s just not very good at expressing himself lol.
The third child is another little girl. She was born so tiny and delicate that even MQF wasn’t certain if she would make it. After a lot of TLC from SQQ, A-Zhen (one character, and it means “to receive blessings in a sincere spirit”). She’s the most even mix between her parents, even inheriting both their signature features: SQQ’s green eyes and LBH’s curly hair. She’s Baba’s special baby, and...admittedly he kinda spoils her a bit. She’s a bit shy and clingy...and a bit of a crybaby. That’s not to say she’s useless! She’s the child with the second closest connection to her 1/4 demon heritage (after her brother. Her sister barely has any such connection and relies entirely on regular cultivation) She simply is mostly a pacifist.
In addition to their three biological children, LBH and SQQ end up rescuing a lot of street children which they teach, and love as their own children.
BONUS: Moshang!
SQH and MBJ have a son a few years after the Bingqiu Triplets are born.
The choice was kinda pressured, and SQH really didn’t think he was really ready to be a parent...but they were basically being told either they have a child, or MBJ will have to take a second (female) spouse in order to have an heir or more. MBJ would obviously have vetoed that with extreme prejudice, but SQH didn’t want to be more unpopular than he already is.
At birth, he is named Fengying (Wind Shadow). SQH, slightly uncertain on how the Lang/Jun suffixes work in this scenario (he’s the heir...but he’s also a half demon?) at first gives him the suffix “-Lang” but MBJ scolds him for trying to deny their son his inheritance. As per tradition, he is called Fengying alone until he’s a teenager, when he officially becomes Fengying-Jun. If/when his father can no longer rule, he will take the name of Mobei-Jun, as his father did. (Random headcanon: MBJ’s given name is actually Ji “Sharp/Fierce or To Incite” and Lin “to tremble in fear or shiver with cold” but also “imposing, cold, austere, majestic, stern, etc” however due to sharing that last character with his Uncle, no one, not even SQH is permitted to call him Jilin-Jun)
He’s on the short side for an Ice demon, only 6′2 as opposed to his father being between 7-8), he only leans ever so slightly to his demon side, his father’s sharp features being softened by SQH’s human side. Making him slightly more delicate looking (SQH wonders if being so pretty might be a half demon trait now, rather than specific to LBH). He retains most of his demonic features: icy blue-white skin, pale eyes, black hair frosted with white when healthy and pure black when ill, sharp ears (though his are rounder than normal), and a low body temperature, though his is higher than standard. Leading some to be concerned he’s running a fever. He does however, lack his father’s sharp teeth.
His personality is intelligent and he’s pretty skilled with his demon magic considering he’s only half...and he inherited resting bitch face from his father...but he’s actually pretty shy, which he never properly grows out of. He’s even gentle and merciful, which a lot of his father’s court consider an embarrassment, and clearly SQH’s fault. (poor boy has a lot of pressure on him, might have anxiety)
He develops romantic feelings for Luo Zhen, despite her being older than him. And his courtship methods are very human.

Chapter Index
Chapter 6 - Shame
On the way back, Yin Zhou rocked back and forth while laughing in the car. He patted his thigh and breathed out: "Haha, little. . . little girl, that makes me an uncle. Lin Yan, you're truly are blessed. You've got a Loli handed right to you!"
Lin Yan couldn't stop the corners of his mouth from twitching. After joking with Yin Zhou for a while, his expression sank again. His hope was shattered, and the things in his hands were in a mess. The sunset falling on the horizon looked like a roasted sweet potato slice. Lin Yan couldn't help but laugh at himself. The night was coming. Who knew what would happen tonight? With twists and turns on the country road, a squirrel squatting on the ground picking up fruit was frightened suddenly by the car. It turned around and bumped into the tree. The little guy held onto the pine cones dumbfounded for a while before changing directions and fleeing.
Lin Yan felt that his current state was not much different from that silly squirrel.
After sending Yin Zhou home, Lin Yan sat in a roadside noodle shop until it closed before driving back. Since the start of all these strange things, the word 'home' has become synonymous with 'nightmare'. He didn't even have the courage to open the door, and he was even more unwilling to face the cold and decayed hellscape behind the door. Lin Yan clenched his fists, and a strong hatred rose from his heart. He had never harmed anyone, and he hadn't interfered with anyone. Why shouldn't he be allowed to live in peace?
The elevator climbed up from one floor to another; Floor 5, Floor 6, Floor 7. . .
Suddenly a burst of cold crawled up his back.
Lin Yan was already familiar with this feeling.
After a second of utter shock, he madly pressed the button to open the door. There was no response. The elevator rose slowly. The number on the display jumped to Floor 11 and stopped. There was a soft bang, and the whole elevator fell into a deep, never-ending darkness.
Lin Yan fumbled around on the wall to find the emergency call button, but his raised hand was blocked by something that shouldn't exist. A long sigh sounded in the solidified darkness, and he was crushed against the wall by huge brute force almost at the same time. The hands holding his arms were like a pair of iron tongs. It wasn't the kind of power that a human could exert, and it couldn't be counterbalanced at all. However, Lin Yan still struggled with all his strength and cursed fiercely: "Get away from me!"
That thing had never been so overbearing and crazy. It seems that Lin Yan's action of going out privately to ask for help from a witch doctor completely angered it. It grabbed Lin Yan's neck with cold hands and picked him up from the ground abruptly. Lin Yan kicked his feet, his weight and the power of that strange hand making him breathless. If the suffocation of last night was only a warning, then now it was like murder, with his breathing getting weaker and weaker and his vision blurring.
Lin Yan closed his eyes, his last bits of consciousness not enough to help him resist. The enclosed elevator was like a small coffin, the walls closing in on him. A sense of despair walked over him. It's all over; after this humiliating game of cat and mouse, the evil spirit is finally going to end this.
It's a pity that his life didn't have time to officially begin, so he would end with this grotesque finale.
As if perceiving Lin Yan's submission, the strange hand loosened around his neck. After the support keeping him up was gone, Lin Yan leaned on the metal wall and slid to the ground. Then freezing lips kissed his face. They slowly moved down, kissing his lips, neck, collarbone. . .
Psychotic, paranoid, irresistible.
"Fuck you. . . Fuck your mother and all your ancestors. . . You. . . Ah. . ."
Moist lips blocked his mouth. Lin Yan shook his head helplessly, but the thing didn’t care about the disgust he showed. It spread Lin Yan’s legs apart, kneeled between his knees, bent down and hugged his waist. It stretched its tongue into Lin Yan's mouth and sucked hard.
Lin Yan could even hear hissing in the darkness.
Like a grumpy beast, it was enjoying taunting its prey before going in for the slaughter.
The sound of entangled lips and teeth twitched Lin Yan's nerves that were already taut like a bowstring. His chin was also being pinched by the ghost hand. He could no longer restrain it, sobbing in despair and fear.
The buttons of the short-sleeved shirt were unbuttoned one by one, and a cold palm touched his chest, its fingers rubbing against his nipples.
"Let me go. . ."
"I beg of you. Let me go. . ."
After devastating his body with the most violent and fierce means, the ghost was slowly insulting his spirit. The experience of dying, again and again, told Lin Yan that this invisible power was saying: Your life is in my hands. No matter where you go, you can't escape me.
The shirt was dropped and tossed aside. The cold and damp tongue twirled on his nipple, and then licked and rubbed his lower abdomen. Lin Yan sat paralyzed on the ground, covering his face with his hands. He was completely defeated in this contest. His voice shook as he cried: "Please. . . let me go. . ."
The thing stopped. It pulled on Lin Yan's wrist to make him stand up and kissed his eyebrows as if it were trying to soothe him. When the light flicked back on, the elevator trembled like it was suddenly awakening from a deep sleep. The hollow sound of the parts spurred, and the green arrow in the middle moved upstream like a fish.
On the eleventh and twelfth floors, Lin Yan couldn't see clearly, but his body's sense of touch became much more sensitive. The ghost squeezed him against the wall, rubbing his waist vigorously with both hands. There was a layer of goosebumps on his bare chest. He could even feel the monster's clothes; the soft fabric, wide sleeves, probably funeral clothes. There were silk-like things hanging onto his chest. It took a long time for Lin Yan to realize that it was hair.
He imagined strands of long black hair clinging to a rotten face, and his bones twitched.
The elevator door opened.
He was dragged out of the elevator by the invisible force, pressed hard against the door panel, and was repeatedly kissed and tasted as though he were a dish. Its hands untied his belt and unabashedly caught his limp member and threw itself down, impatient and eager. Lin Yan’s head hit the coffee table with a bang, and the pain stimulated his almost numb nerves. Lin Yan began to swear using the most vicious and vulgar language he could think of, but this power did not stop. The rough palms pressed roughly against Lin Yan's body, and then it swallowed even more once it got the sexual response it was looking for, desperately and madly pleased.
Lin Yan bit his tongue until it bled, spewing one curse after another until his throat became hoarse. The monster's swallowed faster and deeper. Each stroke made Lin Yan's words catch in his throat. His cursing became drawn out and weaker. He panted hard, clutching the man's hair carelessly; it was as smooth as silk.
He came into the ghost's mouth.
There was a swallowing sound in the darkness.
In these absurd nights and absurd affairs, Lin Yan remembered releasing himself four times in "his" mouth and hands, until his waist became weak and his throat was hoarse to the point he couldn’t swear anymore. Finally, he sat on the lap of the invisible "person" and sobbed into its shoulder.
He felt anger, hatred, fear, humiliation, disgust, but, most of all, powerlessness.
"What the hell are you?!"
"What do you want?"
"I haven't done anything to provoke you," Lin Yan said weakly.
"I will help you make peace with your death, burn some paper money during Qingming, and take the memorial tablet home with me to worship."
"Let me go."
Without answering, the ghost put Lin Yan on the sofa. No matter how much Lin Yan talked into the dark, it would not respond anymore. Instead, it silently disappeared again.
Lin Yan didn't dare to close his eyes at all. He rummaged through some boxes and found the amulet he bought during the trip and the rosary beads sent by his relatives when he moved. He placed a knife in his hand and tucked it under his pillow. The knife was charmed, meant to ward off and suppress evil spirits. After gathering everything together, Lin Yan turned on anything that emitted light in the house, and sat in front of the computer to search for information related to exorcism. The sound of typing on the keyboard sounded particularly harsh at night. Lin Yan's eyes were glued to the screen, but his ears kept paying attention for any movement behind his back. The tension in his back made him want to curl up under his blanket. Supported by unbelievable perseverance, he was entangled in such unholy things, and he had to do something before he was slaughtered.
The mantra of rebirth was chanted over and over through the speakers, and the whole room was filled with peaceful Sanskrit sounds.
"namo amitābhāya tathāgatāya
tadyathā
amṛtod-bhave
amṛta-siddhaṃ bhave
amṛta-vikrānte
amṛta-vikrānta
gāmine gagana
kīrta-kare svāhā"*
*This is the Amitabha Pure Land Rebirth Mantra that Lin Yan is playing and I absolutely could not find a single translation besides the original Sanskrit version or the one in Chinese and I'm not about to butcher a Buddhist mantra.
If you recite it 200,000 times, you can produce the buds of wisdom. If you recite it 300,000 times, you can see Amitabha. You can get everything you want in this world without being deceived by evil ghosts and spirits. Lin Yan thought, maybe he should be a dojo to overthrow this vain ghost, but it was so hostile that no place would necessarily accept him.
