why do they keep making bucky a government-manipulated pawn 😭 from the american military to hydra to whatever weirdass public relations campaign valentina is pushing the thunderbolts through (see: end credit graphics & the cereal campaign), like he had his brief time on the run and his goats in wakanda but he's sucked back into a sketchy institution once again like what are they doing with him. sure the movie was fun, but every time i think about it i just end up head in hands.

So having read mdzs now in addition to watching the untamed I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything

The Yin iron subplot didn't exist in the book and Xue Yang (and Xiao Xingchen/Song Lan) weren't relevant during WWX's first life - WWX and LWJ did not go questing with Huaisang and meet the dancing fairy statue back then

The war with the Wen clan was only ever really brought up in support of other plot points and we never met Wen Ruohan except as a presence offscreen in Mingjue's Empathy - none of LWJ's offers to help WWX control the Stygian tiger amulet happened in the book

There were two battles with WWX as the enemy - the final siege of the Burial Mound and WWX's death were only mentioned as past events in the book, and LWJ wasn't there to see it (though he did rescue him from the fight at Nightless City and nurse him back to health)

The time spent 'studying' with the Wen clan was a lot shorter in the book and WWX did not spend that night in jail with bad animatronic wolfie

No cover of WWX's first time in the Burial Mound in the book (as opposed to the ten seconds in the show)

In the book WWX took on Mo Xuanyu's appearance rather than keeping his own face (totally get why they did that from a filmmaking perspective)

Rather than accompany Ning and Qing to be executed at Carp Tower, the rest of the Wen clan remnants were killed in the siege where WWX died and later came out of the blood pool to defend the cultivators attacked by Jin Guangyao's puppets (meaning they didn't abandon A-Yuan)

Yanli appeared much more in the show, accompanying them to Cloud Recesses in the beginning and in the boat after the attack on Lotus Pier

There was no other flautist who caused WWX to lose control of his puppets in the book

LWJ did not get drunk as a teenager (but still arranged punishment for both of them. as a treat)

WWX spends a lot of time trying to get away/harassing LWJ after his resurrection in the book rather than sort of immediately accepting their reunion in the show

Xichen clocks the returned WWX a lot earlier in the show

They have to fight Mingjue's fierce corpse in the Guanyin temple instead of Wen Ning being possessed by Baxia (and follow the blade spirit around rather than collecting body parts)

Book LWJ does not intercept WWX at Qiongqi Path and cry in the rain 😢

In the book LWJ does not become the chief cultivator 🙌 and they do not separate after seeing Wen Ning and Sizhui off 🙏

Aside from these plot points, the show was surprisingly faithful to the book in terms of dialogue/scenes, a lot of it felt directly lifted (which I appreciate).

Should I watch the donghua next or read the manhua?

Correct me if I'm wrong because English isn't my native language but I've got a funny explanation for fandom meta :

When I say I'm a Starscream apologist, it means "I see him committing many crimes and still love him. Maybe I love him because he commits crimes and I support women's wrongs"

When I say I'm a Rodimus defender, it means "I see him committing crimes and deny that they're crimes in the first place. Your Honour my client pleads not guilty"

Basically imo the line between character apologist and character defender is very thin and you cross the border by going nuh-uh when someone brings up said character's flaws.

Alan is about to get hit with a fireball and dark gets in the way and is injured. Chosen realizes that they are the one that almost killed Dark and has a crisis about it while Alan is tending to Dark.

Dark is immune to fire, I think, but a punch or something would definitely knock them down HARD. They may be strong, but Chosen is still a lot older and stronger than them!

It also probably wouldn't actually help in the end-- if anything, it would make Alan actually angry with Chosen!

The good news is it probably wouldn't happen— either because Alan waits to free them until they can talk or because Chosen and Alan simply just avoid fighting in front of Dark.

It's definitely more building on the events of my fic than anything that implied in canon, but I still really like the idea that Robo-Ky and Venom were living in a skeleton of an apartment while the bakery was taking off and it slowly gets filled with more furniture and personal effects as time goes on.

I think it might take a bit for it to properly sink in that the bakery someone else's home that they happen to live in. It's theirs and theirs to do what they want with it and that gets reflected in how it looks, yk (๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑) ?

Ramble time about Makoto and a little mini headcanon I came up with cus why not B]

Sometimes, I like to believe that Makoto gets really deep into stuff. Basically him in his own little world, hyper-focused to the max such as him cleaning, research, planning. Stuff like that. In the peak level of him in this state, he'd go, burst into a room, rummage around for anything he might need, and leave all while anyone who was in the now ransacked room is just 100% ignored. Bursting into rooms with the determination of the Kool-Aid Man (def not the strength tho) Makoto doesn't even remember that there were people in the room either. He could have been in a room with 58 other people for instance and if you quizzed him on how many people were in that room he'd just blank out like "People? What people?" This applies to whoever he lives with as an adult as well as way back with his parent's and sister. I can see his parent's never getting why he'd zone out like this. Like, they've tried to get it cus they of course wanna understand this weird part about their oldest child. They never really succeeded with it though and just accepted it as one of his weird quirks. Meanwhile, Komaru teased the shit about it to him cus of course she would. After all, it's the little sister privilege to completely dunk on the older sibling. 'Tis the law. Plus, it's not like it's the biggest piece of ammo she has on her older brother. This is Makoto we're talking about after all. Also, cus why not, (might as well be a BIT self-serving hehehe) I'm slipping in my mini headcanon of Makoto, Kyoko, and Byakuya living together casually in the same apartment/small house. Plus, it's funny imagining these two experiencing Makoto's little moments like this. Feel Kyoko would be more used to Makoto basically forgetting her existence when he gets into these hyper-focusing grind moments. Even when she first learned about it, I doubt it'd affect her much. Like, what is she gonna do? Have a little grudge for a solid week and a half with her roommate and lowkey boyfriend? And, besides, what idiot would have a grudge going on for that lon- oh right... Byakuya exists. Yeah, unsurprisingly, the heir is the type to be petty as shit about something like this. Has 100% without fail been disappointed to some extent and bummed out whenever he gets ignored like this. Or ignored in general. At the end of the day, he's a bit of an attention whore (the bit taking it lightly) It's his tsundere way to act like a needy, bastard cat. He'd basically take it personally while Kyoko's shaking her head cus he's taking it personally and Byakuya's all like "Tch. Stop making the assumption I'm taking it personally" and they go back and forth about it during the week all while Byakuya side eyes Makoto who's very much not aware he's even done anything wrong. His little stunt only happened once that week and he doesn't even remember Byakuya being in the room with him while he was rushing about their living quarters looking for junk like some toothpaste and a hanger. And this goes on until the week ends until Byakuya's basically over it, Kyoko gives him the whole "I told you so" look which for her is just her regular expression but with one of her brows slightly raised which she may or may not be actively trying to raise it higher but can't cus that's as far as it goes. Also this is a common occurrence for them all at least once a month. Oh, and the week is the minimum amount of time for Byakuya to hold a petty grudge for and they've lasted way longer ^v^
