I reallly hope we get some in-game clarity for whatever the fuck is going on with the Mimic and Glitchtrap. I'm of the camp that thinks they're the same thing (Glitchtrap is just the Mimic's William Afton kinsona /hj) but by god am I really frustrated that it's just kinda a big question mark atm. I don't want a book that vaguely hints at what the answer is I just want it to be the focus of a full game and while I'm sure we will get something like that, MAN does the ending with Vanny smashing Glitchtrap in her hands piss me off bc like honest to god what are we supposed to do with that.

I’m going to be honest, the sheer relief I felt when I realized ons wasn’t some action manga not even noticing what its doing but rather that the queer themes are very purposeful. I do believe it is the author’s intention. (ONS manga spoilers ahead)

Shinya and his actions are a pretty obvious early indicator, especially when he winds up having that conversation with his demon about Guren.

There’s Urd and Rigr, who you think are a little fruity when you get the early vampire time flashback, but then you get the full angel backstory and realize Urd killed himself rather than go to paradise without Rigr. (The easy way they fell into working side by side again cmon theyre adorable)

Of course, Shinoa’s obsession with Mitsu’s boobs.

But also ofc the inclusion of Shinoa’s feelings for Yuu and the way they aren’t just swept under the rug, but they don’t affect Yuu so much as they affect MIKA.

So now let’s talk about Yuu and Mika. The further in you get, the more you realize it, but there’s two highlights. One being Mika’s ‘death’ scene, with the obv I Love You’s; the other being the canon fact that they are two souls intermingled so completely that they’re indistinguishable, they are both half of the double-soul-blob, but not each one individual one. And then the other implications from the backstory, the way Yuu was created over and over and over again to help Mika (dw, i have the angel mikaela thing straight, but this is still true), the fact that Mika has taken the form of two different creatures that rely on Yuu for life (vampire blood drinking and then demon desire eating). They’re meant to be queer, I’m sure this is a purposeful choice by the author

spider motifs!!! he has little fangs and an extra set of arms (that i keep forgetting to draw him with Oopsies). the spiderness was Unintentional at first but then i decided to just go with it and lean into it more cause i liked that idea. ill probably eventually redesign him to make him look Even More spidery but that day is not today sorry

his lower set of arms can extend/retract as he chooses. he likes to annoy heart with this. he also installed said arms himself one loop. it confused the Fuck out of heart & soul

HMS are all the same height so he wears heels to be taller cause of his Ruler-Of-Everything complex. and also i just like drawing characters with cunty ass heels

the broken side of his face is a result of the juno incident! his teeth are exposed and the big ol light on that side is his broken eyelight. its supposed to vaguely resemble a sun

also his teeth are blue. yeah

OH YEAH he also has a plug tail. it was a more recent addition so it isnt in these drawings but he does have it

theres a difference between him and "whole". whole is more of a Concept while hes the actual Person

on the rare occasions he manifests in headspace, HMS only see him as a shadowy figure. the closer they get to concord, the more of him gets revealed!

Me yapping about my thoughts and process under the cut

So! I've been practicing drawing Ford recently, and figuring out how exactly I want to draw him. Lots of artists approach his features or character in many varying ways, and over time I've come across some that really feel like the perfect Ford for me, like those are the Fords that I wish I could draw and want to strive towards being able to on my own.

I think the ideal in my head is this blob of vibes that does not look like any one artist, and I'm getting closer to being able to see it manifest in my own style the more I practice.

Naturally, ancharan's Fords have left a strong impact on me! I really like how they handle facial anatomy in general and also how they make use of it for strong emoting and expressiveness. Their Fords feel so unique, yet also so very like Ford, and it's just amazing!

My goal isn't to be able to imitate ancharan's art style, nor is it to draw Ford exactly how they do. I wanted to figure out what it was that I found so appealing about their Fords, and then I wanted to figure out what I can learn from that as I continue to iterate and practice my own. What is it about my depictions of him that I feel like need work, what are things I can improve on? How can I draw him so he feels better to me?

I find myself already feeling pretty happy with what I've learned from ancharan's work, and it was what helped me out with that latest Ford drawing I just posted. It turns out that the major thing I need to work on is, unsurprisingly, facial anatomy, particularly how to set the eyes into the face. Just in general and also for masc adult or older men, which is completely predictable when I've nearly exclusively been drawing anime magical girls for years, haha. (RIP Magia Record.)

For the above drawings, I started off by tracing my construction lines directly onto ancharan's illustrations and copying various details. My main goal with the faces in particular was not to copy their lineart exactly, but to look at where they put things and how, and try to draw it in my own style, I guess? Like, when I'm constructing the face, here's where I'm used to putting the eyes and nose, and then here's where they are in this image, so what does it feel like when I deviate from what I'm used to and try something closer to this? What is the version of an adult male in my head and how I would draw them right now, versus how ancharan depicted that idea here? That kind of thing.

These drawings are clearly extremely close in appearance to ancharan's and that was on purpose, as I did trace or otherwise draw over the top of them. But I do like the differences between my art and theirs despite that. I like a differently shaped jawline for Ford, and I think larger eyes and a larger nose? It feels like their Fords and mine have different faces, even with the copying, and that feels like success to me. I really, really adore how my top image Ford here came out, and I think it's probably the best Ford I've drawn, period.

That brings me to the Ford I posted earlier (not traced, to clarify, nothing else I have posted has been traced). First, I drew the face just off the top of my head, the way I normally do, while trying to think about and consider what I liked about the above Fords and felt like I had learned. My attempt was....idk, it felt uncanny to me, and not at all like Ford as I was imagining him. I'm pretty sure it was due to anatomy and facial proportions issues?

So I took that bad Ford and tried to figure out how to make it, well, "good", based on what it was that I liked so much about my outcome in the top image Ford here.

I ended up with a much better Ford that I felt way happier with (old on left, new on right):

Honestly, it's amazing how big of an impact seemingly small changes can make when it comes to this. Like, these have such similar lines, but they feel SO different from each other, right? Small details also do SO much work here, to an astonishing extent.

I think the Ford I really like on the right also feels pretty different from ancharan's, and doesn't feel exactly like my results from the tracing, either. It's the most "me" that a Ford I've drawn has ever felt, I believe, and I'm pretty stoked about that. I think that feeling also comes from it being closer to that ideal Ford in my head than I've been able to draw before.

There's a lot I still need to practice and improve, and eventually I want to draw different facial expressions and angles (I am filled with fear). I am glad for the progress I've made though, and thankful for other artists in the community whose work has been inspiring for me and also just fun to see in general.

I'm deeply appreciative of ancharan for letting me post these! I feel like these drawings are such obvious copies of their artwork to where I didn't feel comfortable calling the drawings my own original artwork, and I didn't want to post them publicly without permission.

that first post was supposed to be a one-off but warden hybrid riley glued himself to the inside of my brain so i had to draw him again

i fuckign love worldbuilding with minecraft as the setting its so fun so anyways i imagine hybrids in general would be uncommon- not rare but you wouldnt see one on the streets every day either. boss hybrids (ender dragon/warden/maybe creaking ??? dont know much about it, could also just be a hostile mob) anyways boss hybrids would be like super rare among hybrids cause in my universe they wouldnt occur naturally. so like normal hybrids (hostile/passive/neutral mobs) could occur thru like maybe genetic mutations?? or mutations brought on by magic??? its minecraft whatever. so like hybrids are born all the time they happen normally is what i mean.

boss hybrids however arent made naturally u have to go thru Some Shit to become a boss hybrid, whether on purpose or not. all this to say riley would become a warden hybrid fully on accident. he and the mining team he was on discovered a deep dark biome but they didnt know what it was cause theyre so rare and the average person doesnt go that far into caves. so theyre fucking around and logging their findings when UH OH warden appears and beats the shit out of them. with riley in particular, the warden keeps attacking him even after hes dead. warden hybrids happen when a bunch of skulk debris gets into the corpse before respawning, so when the warden kept attacking his corpse, that preventing him from respawning for a bit and mixed a bunch of skulk into his corpse. thus, he respawns and hes suddenly blind and taller and uh oh hes a hybrid now. fun times!

so anyways hes not like Completely blind but he sees everything VERY blurry so everythign is just very vague blobs of color. also his pupils are constantly huge so hes very light sensitive. thats why he wears the cloth over his eyes so theyre not randomly hurting cause he looked at a light source without realizing

ahem ahem. where did we leave off... ah, yes. The Realization.

to put it simply, their dynamic is: gabbro fell first, but elbaite fell harder. gabbro's liked elbaite for a few years now, actually. they just haven't really thought about it.

so. gabbro is just along for the ride. whatever comes with their discoveries is just another blob of knowledge on their pile to them.

after the loops, when they're the closest to ellie they've ever been, they realize they're waaaay out of their area of expertise. they're not a very romantic person. they've never really tried to flirt (on purpose), nor have they really been flirted with all that much. (one could even say.... they got that L rizz.... *dies*) honestly they don't really mind it. they could live without romance, their facade is thick enough that they can act normal around someone the like (or love). their love is a quiet one, quiet enough they haven't really noticed it until recently.

like, ellie will be holding them in the hammock. and they'll feel all happy smiley and fluttery and warm. and they're thinking, "ah, so that's why i feel like this. good to know." and then they go about their day.

elbaite! oh boy, ellie. they're so preoccupied with trying to solve the mystery that they only realize their feelings after gabbro forces them to take a break loop and they watch gabbro play the flute. they're watching their lips. ...their lips... i wonder if they're a good kisser...

and then it's, wait, what? why would i think that? ew! but, oh. oh no. i'm not grossed out, not at all. i like the idea of kissing them, oh, oh stars, uhhm. ...oh. well shit.

and then they do absolutely nothing about those feelings because they're trying their hardest to put together the pieces of this insane puzzle that spans their entire solar system. they don'y have time to figure out the puzzle that is their feelings, thank you very much.

they don't do much about their feelings other than intense mutual pining and the occasional flirty joke that turns them both purple. then they start to become the "act like they're madly in love but theyre not even dating" trope. they care about each other, that's all that really matters at the time.

until, of course, they find solanum. this is where the au idea begins to take shape. basically due to funky eye of the universe business solanum can remember all the times ellie and gabby have visited her, and they realize there's a way to free her. so they do, and the three become the time buddies trio. ellie and gabby start to learn nomaian (they already knew some before just because ellie taught themself and then taught gabbro) and solanum starts to realize "oh wait, the way they're acting doesnt seem to be normal for hearthians! i must get to the bottom of this."

so then solanum goes sneaky mode and begins asking the two (separately, because she wants them to figure it out on their own... solanum gets the best wingwoman ever award lol) about why they're Like That around each other. Like That, meaning: flirting, cuddling, bonking heads, smiling like little kids at each other,

yknow what just. here's an example of an average interaction between the three. came up witht his on the spot but it's perfectly accurate to

"hey," elbaite says. they're teetering over the edge of a hole in brittle hollow's wide-open crust, peering down with an edge of mischief to their words. "wanna see who can get to white hole station the fastest?"

gabbro chuckles. "you know i'll beat you, buddy. you just want me to catch you when you inevitably come hurtling towards the gravity panels."

"aha yea, you got me. those big, strong arms are just irresistible, y'know." elbaite gently taps their helmet against gabbro's, and without warning jumps off of the crust of the hollow and into its belly.

gabbro follows, shouting something inaudible as they come out of signal range. solanum flicks her radio to long-range, takes a seat at the edge of the crust, and listens. not a sound slips from her lips. she quite enjoys eavesdropping on these two.

elbaite is laughing. "gabbs, seriously, there's a- there's a huge chunk of the crust behind you, we gotta move, lemme go-"

"nah, not until you let me admire your voluptuous arm muscles--" a loud thunk noise comes through the radio, "--OW! hey!"

"eugh. if you ever say voluptuous again i'm leaving you stranded on your island."

"but it's, like, objectively true. you're pretty strong." gabbro's voice seems to be losing its punch. "or, just strong. or just pretty. ah, both of those things together, and both separate. any of those combinations work out pretty okay. y'know. words. ...anyway."

solanum just recently became familiar with this uniquely hearthian word. there's no perfectly accurate nomaian counterpart. the word is positive, referring to anything nice to look at. it is the more casual version of beautiful, which does have a direct translation.

pretty. gabbro uses it quite often when referring to elbaite.

"...i win." a soft thump, solanum assumes from elbaite reaching the station.

"cool, cool." silence, for a moment. "catch me?"

"wh- no, i- HOUGH--"

solanum stares into the belly of the hollow. she is entirely unequipped to speak on the social behaviors of hearthians, but she knows for a fact that no pair of creatures can speak in this manner and not be utterly infatuated. (with her having studied and practiced hearthian language enough to pick up on background conversation, she's become keenly aware of how intensely romantic her companion's' interactions are. it amuses her to no end.)

On the red cloak: It's Maedhros's. Maybe he gave it to Fingon before the boat burning, maybe it was a gift, maybe it's something Fingon took just now before he set off.

On the silver buckles: no significance to Fingon himself as theyre just part of his outfit, but the silver buckles vs. the gold everything else has made Finrod very upset in the past

On the red bits on the hand: this is pretty soon after the Helcaraxe, so I imagine he might have frostbite. I was not inclined to draw frostbite in excruciating detail though so theres red blobs and black on the fingers

On the white-brown shirt: the shirt used to be a very pale blue, but it has been permanently stained. Its cleaner than it used to be but its never going to be pale blue again

On the red and blue lighting: mostly just for fun of experimenting, but those are the colors of Feanor and Fingolfin's houses so there were definitely lots of thoughts about that going through my head when I made this

The tree in the living room was the first thing you saw when you opened your eyes. In your tiredness, all the colorful lights were out of focus and created a mesh of blob colors. It was pretty, in the way that abstract art flows together.

"We really should take that down." Wilbur says from behind you, and you realize that the general warmth around you is him. The arm over your waist, holding you to him and the couch? Him.

"We can leave it up." You answer, yawning. "I like it."

"It's not Christmastime anymore, love." He smiles into your shoulder, making you smile too.

Something about him generates happiness. In your hazy vision, spotted with colorful christmas lights, you can't imagine anything better.

"So? This is our flat."

He laughs. "Point taken."

We could let our friends crash in the living room This is our place, we make the call.

"You're fine, right?" You ask Tommy, giving him a pointed look.

For once in his life, the boy knows how to be subtle and nods. "Yeah, yeah, I'm great."

"We have more blankets if you want them!" Wilbur announces, strolling in with his arms full of blankets. He dumps them all on top of Tommy, eyebrows creased with worry. "You sure you don't mind staying on the couch?"

He nods, rolling his eyes. "I used to sleep on your floor, Wil."

"That was different! And I gave you an air mattress that time!"

"Which is practically the floor. I'm a big man, I can take the fucking couch."

Wilbur turns to you, as if you'll take his side. You may be dating him, but that doesn't mean you're agreeing with him.

"He'll be fine, Wilbur." You assure him.

Tommy was only staying for the night, anyway. One of his vlogs ran late, leaving him here way after dark. And Wilbur wouldn't stand for letting him head home at this time of night. Honestly, you found their brother thing endearing. And it made Wilbur happy, which made you happy.

Besides, Tommy was a good kid. A nightmare at times, but good in heart. Mostly.

Wilbur gives a regretful look at your couch (which is actually pretty nice) before sighing. "Fine, fine. We'll be just down the hall if something happens, so just... wake us. Yeah?"

"Wilbur!" Tommy groans. "Fuck off! I can sleep on your couch!"

Swear to be overdramatic and true to my lover.

"I'm dying." Wilbur announces, draping himself over the back of your chair dramatically. "I've been shot. I'm dying."

You can't help but roll your eyes, laughing. "Wil, it was a Nerf dart."

"Tell my friends and family I love them." He wails, squeezing onto your hand. "I'll miss you."

"You aren't dying."

"Oh goodbye world! I yearn to feel the sun upon my face, but alas, I die in the cold night!"

"Oh Wilbur!" Tommy crows, darting around a corner with a raised Nerf gun.

Wilbur shouts, hands going for his own Nerf gun, finding nothing. In response, Tommy's smile widens into something evil as he holds up a second Nerf gun.

"Who's the bitch boy?" He asks, eyes wide with delight.

You burst into loud laughter as Wilbur runs from the room, sliding on the wooden floors in his socks.

And at every table, I'll save you a seat, lover.

Hand on the back of the chair, Wilbur pulls it away from the cloth-covered table for you. You can’t help your grateful smile, sinking into it without a second thought. The wedding you two were at was busy, and you had been on your feet for literal hours. He was a godsend at this moment, and judging by his grin he knew it.

“Water?” You ask, holding up a bottle of water for him. You had originally left his side to grab some, knowing he was thirsty but wouldn’t ask for a water.

“Thank you.” Wilbur says, taking it from you. He presses a kiss to your head before pushing in your chair and sitting down at the one next to you, which has his suit jacket thrown over the back. “Almost payment enough for saving your chair?”

“Almost?” The laugh you let out isn’t dignified in the slightest, but his eyes sparkle like it’s the best sound he’s ever heard.

“I had to fight a guy off with my fists to keep it.”

“Bullshit.”

“You’ll never know if it is or isn’t.” He teases, taking a sip of the water. “But I deserve better payment.”

With a roll of your eyes, you lean forward to give him a quick peck on the lips. He cups your cheek, catching your face before you can pull away, just to prolong the kiss for a moment more before he lets go.

“Happy?” You ask, raising your eyebrows.

“The happiest.”

Anyway I’m a biomed class where unit 1 is studying medical investigations forensic science style

and one of the things is like, what happens to a person after the body has been dead for a while (post mortem or sum, see im learning :D)

Things like algor mortis, livor mortis, I’ve heard of. In fact I’ve even studied the clouding of the corneas before, but it never got to me till today

maybe it’s cause I cannot for the life of me study forensics without my wild imagination giving me nightmares or just panicking when I’m alone but aNyWays

I tend to imagine characters associated with death in these scenarios so I don’t lose it in class💀

So as I was taking notes on the slideshow, some of the images of clouded corneas reminded me strangely of something familiar, but at that point I couldn’t tell. There’s something haunting about the eyes (or maybe it’s just my over-analytical brain loving small details like this) they’re GORGEOUS

Maybe it’s ‘cause the true color of the iris is completely visible in all its glory, without the pupil obscuring it

but like

life

no reflection, no emotion…nothing (which is so hauntingly beautiful leave me alone I’m a sucker for this now)

it’s literally just an eye with nothing but color

and then it hit me…it’s exactly the look Nene had when Mirai fast-forwarded her time

you can see in the image it’s just her plain magenta eyes with a fuzzy de-saturated blob in the center…aka clouded corneas

And that honestly made me realize that in this scene she’s not—she’s not even unconscious

No she’s literally, physiologically dead

THAT IS A CORPSE HE IS HOLDING

she is literally a dead body this hits me so hard😭😭

and I can imagine algor mortis kicked in by then, her body was probably cold to the touch

so imagine how he felt, and I’m aware people have analyzed his emotions but just think about it

he’s always seen her so full of life and hope, and now all he has left is an empty shell of her, cold and dead with no life left inside

…just like him

the more I think about it Hanako is just an animated corpse

he has no reflection in his eyes most of the time because he is ✨dead✨

I mean Mei, Mitsuba, and Hanako don’t have a little white reflection dot like Nene and Kou

Or maybe I’m overthinking it and Nene’s eyes are just super reflective

even for someone who presumably took his own life, he probably never saw tsukasa’s body start postmortem and actually feel dead bc it looked extremely bloody ngl (I’m guessing he killed himself right after 💔)

and now he’s holding someone he cares about like this for the first time and I’ll bet that scarred him

and he figured out that never, never ever did he ever want to see his sweet assistant like this again, lifeless in his arms

and so after that, cue Hanako in his villain era who basically became a yandere the entire picture perfect lmao

and he was unbelievably adamant about it too

I mean honestly if I held anybody I knew lifeless like that I’d be scarred for life and crying for days

seeing the light drained from someone’s eyes is so interestingly sad to me

She still has so much emotion in her eyes

wait she looks so pale in the last image compared to the others now that I think about it

so I start by getting obssessed with a song and then making a little storyboard. I have a bunch of these that never get turned into an Actual Animatics but theyre always fun and help just get the idea out of my Head. Ignore the terrible quality of the photo but I managed to find one of the ones for be nice to me! COULD NOT TELL YOU WHAT ANY OF IT MEANS NOW!!!!! giggling my storyboards are just blobs and also this photo is awful i can barely see it BUT I COULD READ IT AT THE TIME SO THATS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!

usually I have a bit more of a plan but for be nice to me i seem to remember lots of the parts got shuffled around. mostly because I wanted to include as many characters as possible. (even if most of it is just mort and family because they're very dear to me )

ANYWAY!!! so I animate bigger things in krita, which (although it does crash somtimes) is easy to use and has nice brushes. I used to use it for all my art :D i also use flipaclip for animations which i dont want to put much detail into beacuse its fun to do higher fps stuff on there. I TRIED USING PROCREATE DREAMS ONCE BUT IT DOENST HAVE A LASSO TOOL???? which is really painful so I gave up. I dont do much editing, but sometimes i use capcut to fix audio or do small camera movements. All of these are free! apart from procreate dreams. i hateyou procreate dreams.

A thing i like doing, is to make multiple lineart frames of a still shot and alternate them every few frames which makes it look more Alive and helps transition into movement nicely :D I didnt really bother to do that in the hfth one though because it was so fast paced. ANOTHER THING TO FAKE MORE MOVEMENT is to use the transform tool to have a frame thats slightly stretched or squished after quick movements which makes them look more bouncy.

COLOUR WISE for long animatics I have a bg colour and a couple of Bright colours that stand out for important details. i think in be nice to me that was mostly red and green. nik and marolmar.... if its just lineart I also sometimes draw background details in a lower opacity or different colour so it looks less cluttered

AND THEN once I've finished sometimes I also throw a texture over the top of everything to make it look more interesting... usually a paper texture i like using those :D

NO IDEA HOW MUCH OF THIS MADE SENSE BUT I ENJOYED RAMBLING!!!!!!!! i hope it answered your question :D
