What I loved about Cinderella's Castle is it is so entirely about Ella. We know starkid can handle a show with tons and tons of characters but I found it quite refreshing for it to be so wholly her story? I think it was a lovely choice for this show and man Bryce did such a perfect job of it, she is truly such a star

Rewatching the season 2 pall mall scene and all I can think about is if Kate got so into the game because it’s the first time in a long while that she can actually play without simply letting Edwina win.

Every time Kate gets even a little bit into the competitive spirit of the game, much like everyone, especially the ladies, on the field, Edwina clearly does not like it. Daphne is thrilled to talk strategy like it’s war and not pall mall, Eloise is egging Kate on and Lady Danbury is loudly declaring hopes for bloodshed but each time Kate gets into the spirit of competition, Edwina is all “Play pleasant, didi!”. And then, she simply quits the game halfway through when she’s asked to catch up with other players.

All this leads me to believe that Edwina is not used to actually playing a game in any sort of competitive spirit. It seems way more likely that Kate simply gives in and lets her win whenever they play together.

And so, it must have felt so good for Kate to be able to actually participate and try to win with a group of people are all doing the same and earnest in their spirit of competition.

No wonder she was so playful even before she fell into a mud puddle with Anthony, because for that stretch of the afternoon, she did not have to be an older sister, she simply got to be a girl enjoying a game.

Broke (2016): BBC Sherlock is a phenomenal piece of media and anything that seems like a flaw just hasn't been fully explored yet

Woke (2020): BBC Sherlock is an incredibly flawed series run by an egotistical writer, it never deserved the hype and is actively bad on so many fronts (especially representation)

Bespoke (2024): BBC Sherlock is flawed and bogged down by increasingly poor writing, which many fans refused to see while it was airing, leading to hugely misplaced expectations (particularly for the final series), AND it has the seeds of some compelling characterizations and portrayals, some genuinely solid performances, and touches--albeit imperfectly--on complexities that are still being discussed today (particularly as it relates to the relationship between Sherlock and John). The huge cultural impact of the show has created a massive pendulum effect in its public perception, leading to most people today remembering a caricature of the show (whether positive or negative) rather than appreciating its nuanced merits and failings...that being said Season 4 sucked
