Fenton’s right there—in the corner of the hallway, crowded between a row of dented lockers and his two ever-present shadows—the same as every other morning.
He’s still here—alive.
Dash swipes Fenton’s arm into a vice grip—he’s real; flesh and bone and blood that rushes to the surface of his skin, blossoming into patchy, mottled bruises. The sight of it has his hackles lowering—the white, crescent bite of blunt fingernails. His shoulders sag with each relief-filled breath. His grip loses strength and nearly falls to his side at the sight of the marks left behind by every single finger on his trembling right hand. The chill that runs up his spine whenever Fenton gets too close dissipates just a little, just enough for the faint trembling to cease.
Fenton is here—alive.
He has nothing to do with the bones buried beneath the twisting tree that had sprouted from nothing deep within the woods that lined the edges of Amity Park. He has nothing to do with the swaying branches that grow flowers the colour of Danny’s clear blue eyes, nor the roots that glow a sinister green as they coil their way around the carefully buried remains of a boy who had once been their age, laid to rest with a model rocket wound beneath one arm and a hazmat suit—charred and faded—tucked beneath the skull.
The flowers had held no scent and the swaying branches had made no sound, but its silvery leaves had offered shelter from the rain. Its gnarled trunk blocked the biting wind and its roots coiled protectively around the remains from which it had sprouted. The ground around it flourished, with moss carpeting the base of its trunk, growing healthy and vibrant, with mushrooms that grew in bioluminescent clumps that chased the shadows with a haunting glow.
It was a foreboding oasis not meant to be disturbed—a place that he and Kwan hadn’t meant to stumble upon.
But none of that mattered now. Not when Dash now knew for certain that Danny still cowered in the corners of Casper High’s crowded corridors. Now that he knew that the half-smudged writing childishly scrawled onto the base of the model rocket couldn't have possibly spelt out the name of the boy he'd known since his first day of school.
Not with the irrefutable proof seared onto Fenton's pale, freezing flesh.

Danny did his best to ignore the person trying to wake him, but they were annoyingly persistent. After a wave of "Hey"s, "Get up"s, "You can't be here"s and one muttered, "How did you get in here?" Danny finally opened his eyes to see a boy about the same age as him staring while holding up the lid to Danny's casket.
He had thought he was done being woken up after he successfully escaped his superhero responsibilities by running away from Amity, "Am I just not allowed to rest in peace?"
"Not when it's in our attic."
The ghost boy scoffed, "Shouldn't have a casket in here if you didn't want to risk something crawling in."
The guy stared at him for a long moment before Danny decided he had enough and yanked the casket closed again, this time making sure to seal it shut with ice on the inside.
"Hey!"
The ghost rolled over with a huff, determined to ignore him.
Unfortunately, he underestimated how nosey this family could be...

Following an accident, Danny wakes up in Gotham City in a DC universe. Lacking any forms of ID or possessions beyond the clothes on his back, he’s forced to commit some crimes to survive. Minor crimes, but still.
And then he gets caught.
During the court proceedings, they come to the mistaken conclusion that he’s a Meta suffering from some psychiatric issues such as Cotard’s Syndrome (a real rare condition where a person holds the delusional belief that they’re dead/don’t exist/etc).
Thus, between his “need for mental treatment” and the concerns about housing someone with his unique physical traits, he is sentenced to spend time in Arkham Asylum. He’s under pretty low security aside from the anti-Meta stuff and has more freedoms than some other inmates, but it’s still not a great experience. Even at the best of times, Arkham is hardly a nice place.
Some of his fellow residents are decently chill all things considered, but lots very much aren’t.

I need codependent Danny/Jason as a little treat (for me) and I love the idea of them having some sort of instant connection the moment they meet (bc ghost stuff idk)
Danny who's been dropped in Gotham with no way home (alt universe??) and he's been here for 36 hours and having a Very bad time senses a liminal being and immediately latches onto them heedless of the fact that his new best friend is shooting at some seedy guys in an alley and goes off about how stressed he is and how he can't make it back to the ghost zone and what a bad day he's been having (and it's important to note Danny is a littol ghost boy literally hanging off of Jason's neck as he floats aimlessly) and Jason is like "who are you??" And Danny is like "oh sorry I'm Danny lol" and then just continues lamenting his woes
And honestly ? This might as well happen. Nothing about this Danny guy(is he human?) gives Jason a bad vibe and tbh he's never felt more calm and level headed before so he just keeps up his usual Red Hood patrol and doesn't even think about it when he heads back to a safehouse and feeds Danny dinner (breakfast) before crashing for half the day
The only thing I actually need is Jason meeting up with the bats for some sort of Intel meeting and they're like "uhhh who's that" and Jason is like "that's Danny." And does not elaborate (very ".... What do you have there?" "A smoothie" vibes)
And it takes them a while to realize that these two have known each other for less than 12 hours and are literally attached at the hip

Question for the DP fandom:
Do you think Danny’s hair turns white when it falls out? It’s technically dead cells anyway but when it naturally falls off his head, do you think it turns white? Because I think it would be hilarious if his hairbrush just has white hair, no black strands whatsoever, and his significant other thought the worst until they know his secret.

Can you please do Jazz calling in a favor and getting Joker sent to the Nightmare realm (indefinitely) as an anniversary or birthday gift for Jason.
“Happy Birthday, dearest,” Jazz said happily, laying kisses all over Jason’s face. He grumbled, not actually that displeased, and pouted at her until she giggled and shook his arm again. “C’mon, it’s time to wake up. I have a gift for you.”
“Is the gift more sleep? You kept me up all night,” he complained, though he smirked when she smacked him on the bicep.
“Shush, you! I have a gift that I think you’ll really, really enjoy.”
Jason blinked the sleep out of his eyes, contemplating what he wanted to do when he knew he could be spoiled, and judging by the casualness of Jazz’s voice, clearly the gift could wait.
After a moment, he asked, “Is it something that should be seen now or can it be seen later?”
“It can be seen later, but I think it’ll make your day really special if you see it now,” Jazz answered pleasantly, gently raking her nails through his hair. Jason closed his eyes, enjoying it before she started kissing him again and he sighed and sat up, pulling her into his embrace.
After a few more moments of distraction, he said, “Okay, show me.”
She led him down into the basement, where she unlocked a door and then gestured him inside.
The Joker sat there, gagged and wriggling as he struggled in vain to escape.
Jason turned to look at Jazz with raised eyebrows, delighted but also slightly baffled. “Y’know, when you joked about torturing the Joker and Bruce made you promise not to do that, I didn’t think you would actually do it.”
Jazz beamed. “I’m not. I’m calling in a favor for someone to do it for me. Happy Birthday, Jason!”
Jason beamed and swept her up in a hug. “Thank you! This is the best gift ever! Who’s gonna do the deed?” He asked excitedly.
Jazz beamed, giving his forehead another kiss. “I asked Dan if I could borrow Fright Knight. The Joker will be kept in his worst nightmares and fears for the rest of his life in the Nightmare Realm. Ready?”
Jason blinked, nodding. In the end, it was anticlimactic. A purple and green knight came out of the shadows, stabbed Joker with his sword once, and then he disappeared into the sword like it was nothing. Jason was left blinking as Fright Knight completely ignored him, bowed deeply once to Jazz, and then left.
“… that was anticlimactic,” Jason said. He didn’t know if he felt disappointed, relieved, or just dazed that the Joked was gone without another fuss.
Jazz kissed him on the cheek this time. “Just what he deserves. C’mon. I planned a busy day today! But first… breakfast!”

Dp x DC AU: Danny didn't want to rely on his rogues, but Tucker's computer skills only got them so far and if the media black out continues... Danny knows it's not going to be pretty for them. Nightmares begin to plague the Justice League.
---
Danny gets back from a shitty conversation with Clockwork and in his frustration, accidentally sets off one of the new GIW sensors that his parents allowed to be installed in the lab. Their collaboration seemed to be going no where but when Danny had new holes blasted through him... it must be going somewhere. Damn it.
The commotion is loud enough that Jazz hears it from her room above the lab (he knows she listens to more than just the lab... it's cause she cares, even if it is a bit invasive.) and rushes in to play the distraction while Danny gets away. This time it works- the Drs. Fenton might have the worst aim in the city but they demand all shots cease if a civilian is nearby- Next time his mom might be aiming her gun at him and not the ground. Danny decides he'll buy Jazz a coffee on his way home.
But first, new holes. Yikes. That like, needs medical attention- He heads to Tucker's place and he's pretty sure Sam is already there.
"Danny! What the fuck, did Clockwork-" She starts, her meticulous cat eyeliner making her glare all the deeper.
"Nah, it's the stupid GIW sensor, the stupid one I told you guys about that has a spring lose in the back?"
"I thought we decided those weren't a concern?" Tucker looks him over, face covered in undisguised and very blatant concern.
"Yeah well, Clocky pissed me off so I forgot about them when I came back in through the lab portal-"
"you were supposed to be practicing making your own." Sam interrupts.
"-And when I did, the thing got knocked and I was swatted like immediately. Jazz launched herself into the lab so Mom made them stop shooting and it gave me enough time to get out." Danny continued to explain, ignoring his friend's 'i told you so' faces.
"Dude. We're pushing it close this week. Sam already had a confrontation with the lab guys and I already got blacklisted on my new persona accounts. We're like seriously threading the needle for getting caught." Tucker, pulls his glasses down to pinch the bridge of his nose and Danny and Sam both get what he's really saying. They need to lie low.
"What did CW say to piss you off?" Sam asks after a silent moment.
"He said nothing really, just like he always does, but insinuated I should try getting a rogue to help." Danny sighs.
"What, Like getting Ember to announce the GIW invasion on her tour? We already agreed that-" Sam is getting angry as she speaks so Tuck cuts her off- "It's a bad Idea. She is- They are all just as likely to get captured and hurt as you are if you go out of town." He comes to the same conclusion they've agreed on for weeks. No rogue involvement.
"Maybe we just need to sleep on it... Hey... wait." Danny sighs, but then his gears start to turn.
"Nocturn. We need Nocturn to help us. He can get the message out through dreams." Danny comes to the new conclusion and his friends look hesitant but at least like they're considering it.
"Isn't he an ancient? He's not going to help us for free." Tucker, ever the Egyptian god in these moments.
"Most people don't take their dreams literally." Sam, ever the skeptic in these moments.
"Yeah but, if they dream it enough times, and they're the right people to do something... they can look it up and then at least see that there is a problem?" Danny sounds hopeful and its the first time he's sounded that way in months.
"What, you're gunna give Batman nightmares?" Tucker snickers but Sam looks inspired.
"That's exactly what he's going to do. We need to haunt the Justice League. They'll see past the fake facade the GIW put up online and they'll be able to get the right legislation passed." Sam is practically buzzing.
"Okay, so lets get scheming- What do you get the primordial beast of the unconscious? Should I google 'what to get someone who has everything'? " Danny laughs.
_____
Bruce and his children rarely do feelings when they have breakfast in the morning after a night of separate patrols, but it seems as though the room is plagued with unease. Tim looks about as tired as ever, so his unease is probably attributable to WE board meetings, but its unlike the rest of his children to be so... disturbed. For some reason, after Alfred has excused them all from eating more than a few nibbles, they make it to the cave. Bruce is glad for the noise his children bring.
The nightmare's he's been having are following a dark plot. A town, a boy who looks like he was kin, and so, so much death. Bruce has had vivid dreams before in life, but this nightmare is... unreal. He tries to remind himself that it's just a nightmare.
When his JL emergency communicator goes off at the computer desk, he's not expecting it to be Dinah Lance. She and her Birds are typically wary of him in Gotham, even if they work well together in the League. He answers it like he would any Batman call, with silence.
"Bats, we have a problem. Any chance you've been having weird dreams about a kid getting experimented on or a town being burned down? Ghosts? Lazarus portals?" Dinah sounds exhausted, but Bruce snaps to her voice with rapt attention. As do all of his children.
"I-" Bruce takes a look around the room, everyone's heads except for Tim's nodding up and down with distress," We all have."
"Something tells me that they whole JL is. Everyone I've talked to this week has had a variation of the same dream. We either have a telepath trying to tell us something, or something even worse than that."
"I'll call emergency meeting, we need to collect details and try to determine the complete message."
"I'll send you what I've noted down so far, sans personal details of course, it's definitely in a town called Amity Park though. My client this morning saw the sign."
Batman grunts and the call ends. It's time to get to work.
----
When the Justice League finally arrives, the town is glowing, and everything feels like... sleep. smothering. snoring. smoking. smoldering.
And then, despite the exhaustion that echos within them, the trudge onwards. The noise of laser guns certainly wakes them up a bit.

What I Can Give
Jazz perhaps gives more thought about Danny and looking out for him than he gives thoughts of her. More than what Jazz knows other older siblings do. But her and Danny had been each other's closest friend for practically all their lives.
Him and her shared the same friends. Well, up until Danny hit his teenage rebellion phase. But he is still her brother. Jazz can wait it out. And do what she can for him in the meantime, have his back and support him and all that good stuff. (Even when he's being a little shit and she wants to kill him)
Jazz just knows and dreams of the time they can be close again in the future after Danny is done with this phase of life. She knows he still loves her past all the crap. Just as she still loves him.
But Jazz can't quite figure out why Danny's been wincing in pain these days. Unable to fix it. To know its cause. It is killing her.
The discovery and decision about the truth...
It is certainly going to kill something in Jazz's life.
Phic Phight 2025!

Jazz doesn’t know what to do. Her brother is hurting, she sees it in the winces, and flinches, she hears it in the hisses and groans on the other side of their shared bedroom wall. He says he’s fine. She’s not, though.

Another drawing :)
In The Wrong Robin Au, Tim (incorrectly) believes that Danny was the first Robin. He saw him do a quadruple somersault back when he(Tim) was nine, literally the day after watching Robin do the exact same thing.
while Danny had used his powers to complete the flip, he'd still need at least a little acrobatic/gymnastic experience to make it look believable. (I highly doubt Tim would have been fooled if Danny didn't even have the right form and stance.)
This means that in my Au, Danny would have had to have taken a few gymnastics classes. Maybe his parents signed him up for them or something, I don't know. However, this will have an impact on Danny's abilities later on in the story. He'll be more flexible (without using his powers), better at parkour because of his sense of balance, and probably a lot more...
there are lots of other little details I'd love to go over, but I'll have to do that in a different post.
oh!
Here's the paper sketch because sketching digitally doesn't make sense in my brain. I was testing out different styles on the side because my usual style just isn't ✨good soup✨lately.

currently imagining a freaky friday dpxdc crossover in which one of the batkids gets kidnapped by cultists whose plan is to give the ghost king a physical anchor in this world by offering a sacrifice for the king to inhabit. however, given that danny is not fully dead, the moment the spell completes the aforementioned batkid gasps awake in a small blue bedroom with NASA posters and glow in the dark stars, and danny wakes up on the cold concrete floor of a warehouse amidst groveling cultists

This has been keeping me up at night
Ok so the rules in Danny Phantom are that ghost can't phase through other ghost or anything in the ghost zone, but ghost can phase through humans and the living world and vice versa.
NOW! For the thought that unwillingly entered my brain and won't leave until it's satisfied.
If Danny got someone pregnant and the fetus developed its powers en utero, would the mother need to worry about her kid phasing through her belly? Like when it kicks does it kick through her belly? Would she wake up constantly to see developing baby floating above her attached viva umbilical cord?
My sister originally said no because if their attach then the mother would also become intangible too but I reminded that you can select which part of you can make intangible. Like Danny can only make his top half phase through some shit so he can peek.
Please this idea (without permission) entered my head 2 days ago and I can't stop thinking about it😭

A friend recently brought to my attention that Something's Wrong With Danny Fenton is now on the first page of DP fics when sorted by kudos (excluding crossovers) on AO3.
I'm genuinely so floored and SO SO grateful to everyone that has read and left kudos on SWWDF!
When I started it that year for Invisobang I never would've guessed that it would do as well as it's done. I worked so hard and I wrote something that I'm tremendously proud of. I'm happy that it's resonated with so many people. It was a lot of work to write and don't even get me started on the editing.
I will be eternally grateful to @kkachis for her skill and dedication as an editor - not only did she tackle that fuckin' thing, but she did so while remaining subjective and unafraid to tell me when the style was working and when I needed to reign it in. We both learned so much over those 3 months, and we continue to learn from eachother to this day.
To celebrate, and in honor of SWWDF, I want to show a little hint of something I've started working on to share with everyone.
Tumblr media
When I started SWWDF, the thing that terrified me the most is that I knew I wanted to swing for the fences stylistically. I wanted to write it the way I would something that I was going to submit to a literary journal for publishing. I did this full well knowing that it may be a style that turned people away at the door. It's not for everyone and that's okay! Little did I know how many people would love it 😅
I struggled a lot in the beginning to find a balance between narrative fiction and my voice as a literary fiction writer. I had a low level but near constant anxiety that the style was "trying too hard".
My struggle and fears in 2021 is what's inspiring me to write an essay of sorts on this topic. If I could help or inspire other writers to play with style when it comes to fanfiction then that would make me pretty happy!
Anyway! Thank you again for this achievement!
Also! Let me know/send me an ask if any of you have specific questions you'd like me to address in the guide/essay about how I use/d style in fanfiction. Any questions will give me a better idea of what to narrow down on and cover.

i've been writing i promise
my posts go up on ao3 more timely than they do here
anyways
dannymay 2025 again ! prompt 10 this time to make up for missed days. I'm slowly but surely catching up :')
DAY 10 -- Prompt: Family
author: burntsora
length: 901 words
ao3 link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/65529739
only registered users can read it on ao3
“Bet ‘cha can’t catch me!”
Danny laughed as he chased Dani through the town. She’d come to get her ecto-dejecto shot and decided to stay for a day or two before heading out to travel again. It makes him worry about her—she’s still so young—but he’s learned that she can take care of herself. He always makes sure to tell her she can stay at his place if she needs to, though.
“Oh yeah? You haven’t seen how fast I can really go, kid!” Danny cackled as he shot after her. They played around like this for the good portion of an hour before they switched to practicing their powers and showing each other what they learned.
He looked over at Dani and watched her talk about her improved accuracy with ecto-beams. He always liked seeing her happy. He never had something like this as a kid, so it was cathartic in a way to ensure it happens with someone else. Though he does feel a bit selfish for regarding her with such closeness when it’s most likely unwelcome.
He was startled out of his semi-trance when his phone gave off the sound of an alarm. He pulled it off from its slot on his belt and turned it off. “Crap, sorry Dani. Mom and Dad finished one of their harder projects and wanted to celebrate with a family dinner, or something. I’ve got to go.”
Dani looked at him, slightly less upbeat than before. “Oh, yeah- yeah, sure! See you tomorrow?”
Danny grinned at her, already turned and ready to fly away. “See you tomorrow, Dani!”
Did he say something to upset her? He hoped not, but he couldn’t be perfectly sure…
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dani was sitting on a hilltop, looking over the park and up at the stars.
She slipped into a calm headspace as she did so, letting thoughts leak in here and there, but for the most part just watching the world go by. She broke out of her trance when her core alerted her to the presence of a ghost approaching her.
Not a hostile one, though.
She turned and looked at Danny with a small smile. “What’re you doing out here?”
Danny looked at her with a smile, but slight confusion in his gaze. “Night patrol. What’re you doing out here?”
Dani turned back to her view, letting Danny walk over and sit next to her. “Stargazing.”
Danny hummed in acknowledgement next to her, looking up towards the sky. They sat in silence for a couple minutes before Danny broke it. “So, what’s wrong?”
Dani looked at him, brows furrowed. “Huh?”
“What’s wrong? You don’t seem to be at your best, and you’re acting a bit strange. I want to help if I can.”
Dani stared at him with wide eyes before forcing out a laugh. “I- hah, nothing’s wrong!”
“Dani, you don’t have to pretend to be ok-”
“Danny, I’m fine, really!”
“Are you sure?” Danny turned to look at her, staring straight into her eyes with his own—one somewhat human and one disfigured—to try and show his sincerity. “I won’t judge you for it, if that’s what you’re worried about. You don’t have to tell me either, but I want to help, and I want you to be able to confide in me. Please?”
That’s all it took for Dani’s feelings to come swirling to her head, and before she knew it, there were tears running down her face as she rambled. “I- I’m just- just so lonely, with no friends, barely any family- and I just- I want one so bad but who’s going to accept me?! Vlad already tossed me out and you have your and I don’t want to intrude, and I know I can be on my own—should be on my own—but I can’t help it! I can’t help wanting to have someone to call a family and- and I know I have you and I’m so, so thankful for it but it’s a selfish want to have more-”
Her words transitioned to sobs as Danny pulled her close, tucking her face into his chest. She brought her arms up and clung to his suit tight, not wanting to let go. It was selfish of her, trying to hold his attention more than she needed. She was already a stained reminder of the atrocities Vlad had done, he probably doesn’t want her around for more than needed, but she gets to be selfish sometimes, right?
“Dani, it’s never, ever too much for you to ask for a family.” Danny pulled her away to look at her face, wiping away tears. “You’re still a kid. It’s not selfish; it’s more than ok for you to want to be close to people. You don’t have to hold yourself back. Vlad’s been getting better if you want to give him another shot,” Danny gave a grimace at that, seeming recoiling at the idea himself. “But my family is always an option. Just say the word, and I’ll make sure you’re the favourite kid in my parents’ eyes. You’re my family Dani. You don’t ever need to bottle these things up, you can just tell me when you need help. Don’t you ever forget that.”
Dani stared at him before wiping tears from her face and hiding her face in his shoulder again. She had the best big brother.

I'm having incoherent thoughts about clone danny again from the clone/clone^2 au (when am I not?) but more specifically I'm thinking about his reaction to finding out he's a clone. The standalone clone au digs into that a little more than clone^2, which is more focused on Danny and Damian's relationship. But neither (so far) really get into Danny's issues about finding out he's a clone after 15 years of thinking he wasn't.
Because he resents his parents for not telling him for so long. He resents the way he found out; through a trivial school project rather than a sit-down talk. He resents the fact that, apparently, they had meant to tell him sooner. But forgot. He resents the fact that they never told him because finding out feels like something was stolen from him when it had the chance to not be.
Danny Fenton, just fifteen, cloned not even half a year ago, knows what that personal violation of autonomy feels like. He knows what it's like to be cloned and while he loves Ellie, he does, she's his sister, and in this au his twin. But he is still left with that feeling of unsafety after realizing he'd been cloned. Being cloned is violating. The onset realization that it's so easy to get DNA without the other party noticing, and that what was stopping someone from trying to clone him again?
Followed only after with the rest of the inexplainable mix of feelings of being cloned, the rest of that inner conflict and panic that's an ugly mocktail of emotions that range from horror to fear. Trying to imagine what it's like to be cloned from the cloned party, and I imagine that it leaves you with the feeling of needing to crawl out of your own skin with discomfort.
And then he gets put on the other side of it. Danny Fenton, only fifteen, was cloned not even half a year ago, finding out he is a clone. And reactions, I imagine, can vary from person to person. But to him, it feels like something got stolen from him, like someone took a hole puncher and stuck it right into his chest and stole a chunk of himself from him.
It changes nothing about him and yet it changes everything. It's a betrayal on it's own to just find out he was a clone and they didn't tell him for fifteen years -- it shouldn't mean anything, because he's still Danny, and yet it means everything. It's him, it's him, it's about him. It's his personhood. It's about the fact that a load-bearing rock in his identity just crumbled beneath his feet and now there's a rockslide.
Because then he finds out that they used the wrong DNA. Its like pouring salt in an open wound. He's not even related to his parents or his sister, when for years he thought he was. It's the fact that pieces of his identity that he's been so secure in for so long just got ripped away from him in an instant. Then they tell him -- only through his own horrified prompting -- that the person whose DNA they used -- Bruce Wayne -- didn't even know he existed. That they accidentally used the wrong DNA, then didn't tell the person whose DNA they used.
The betrayal of being lied to for years turns really quickly into horror at his own existence. Something very similar to the horror he felt at being cloned and the skin-crawling discomfort that made him feel like his own skin wasn't really his. And then its not. It's actually not. Nothing but his own name feels like it belongs to him anymore -- not his hair, not his eyes, not his heart or his lungs, nothing feels like his anymore and he didn't know what that felt like until it was gone.
It's a question of Nature Vs. Nurture -- where does the line of "nature" begin and where does the line of "nurture" end? What of him is actually his? What of him is Bruce Wayne's? It's not logical, it's not supposed to be. It's a load-bearing wall on the house of his identity being destroyed and now everything else is caving down in on him. What belongs to Danny, what belongs to Bruce Wayne?
