dating gun would include :

starting off, Gun adores pampering you with presents. whether it’s something expensive or not, you love them regardless, and it’s gotten to the point that you joke that you’re his sugar baby. he likes seeing your eyes light up when he shows you the necklace he bought for you, but it’s also to make up for the time he spends at work rather than with you. Gun hopes that his gifts can make up for the lost time to some extent, and you appreciate the gesture, but all you really want is to spend some quality time with him.

Gun is someone who likes keeping his work life and private life separate, especially considering his line of work. He doesn’t want to endanger you, so he doesn’t want you meeting anyone he works with and members of the gangs he collects from. However, the few people he would be alright with you befriending would be Goo and Crystal (Soohyung) because he trusts them.

when it comes to showing physical affection, Gun is totally casual about it and it’s literally impossible to make him flustered. If you do try to make him blushy, he‘ll view it as a competition and your plan will completely backfire. Gun is also such a casual kisser and y’all‘s first kiss was most likely pretty early in your relationship because of this.

he would probably get a call from his boss while the two of you were in his apartment doing something, telling him that he needs him to head over to Crystal’s place earlier than usual, a demand to which a would reluctantly oblige. “I’m sorry Y/N, but I need to go to work early.” Gun would make a small apology as he planted a swift kiss on your cheek. you would be too shocked from the sudden kiss and wouldn’t be able to respond before he closed the door behind him. it was a sweet action on his part, but a surprise nonetheless.

when it comes to pda, he doesn’t particularly mind it either. Gun enjoys small gestures such as putting his arm around you, or placing his hand on your thigh when the two of you and next to each other. it makes him feel like he’s in control and it also shows the surrounding people who you belong to. although he is fine with pdsa to some extent, he doesn’t want you being overly clingy and preventing him from doing other stuff.

Gun is protective of you because of how much he truly cares about you. but he knows your boundaries and will never be overprotective and make you uncomfortable. your his sweet s/o and Gun will not hesitate to beat up someone who shows that they have ill intentions towards you.

when it comes to jealousy, Gun isn’t concerned if someone tries flirting with you. he trusts your loyalty and that you’ll turn the person down. if the person hitting on you won’t take a hint after your attempts to shoot them down, Gun will enter the conversation to make it clear that you are not interested.

overall, Gun would be a great partner, prove me wrong, and I will not be taking criticism. /lh he’s the perfect balance of protective and thoughtful of his s/o, just ugh i love this man. 😫🤌

21. If you wrote a “missing scene” in [insert fic], what would it be?

okay so funny thing is that i pretty frequently write short spin-offs of my own work (one for batm, one + a sequel drabble for etwr, a sequel drabble for wtfb) but i don't often think about "missing scenes" because i just... don't tend to leave space for them? most of the action of my fic if you pay attention is pretty linear & condensed — etwr & batm happen over the span of a few months, but even those are long enough to cover everything i found significant in them. wtfb & my animorphs fic, for example, cover every single significant second of a very short amount of time.

so i think if i had to pick something, i would write something for hosa! probably a scene near the beginning from tae's pov, after the intro but before he goes missing, just to give an outsider's perspective on jimin and let readers know that maybe he's not as reliable a narrator as he presents himself! he is a supervillain after all! and while i think he Believes his whole spiel of not enjoying hurting people, i think tae as his husband & a coworker of sorts (lol) could give some examples of how, from the outside, that doesn't necessarily appear to be true.

49. What are you currently working on? Share a few lines if you’re up for it!

i'm currently finishing up my fic for the orbit zine, working on a rewrite of a 12k wip i started in late 2019, and trying to keep momentum on Yet Another etwr spin-off oneshot. i'll give some lines from the spin-off after the cut!

Taehyung learns a lot of things on campaign — how much hardtack he can eat before his spit dries up and his stomach heaves, how to walk through blisters bursting and bubbling up and bursting again, how to pitch his commander’s tent and cook a camp meal and stay out of the way of the ninety other men in the company. Nearly all of them were trained in the capital, in the compound to the south of the palace, and so there’s a camaraderie that Taehyung can’t learn between them, but he does learn how to shut down questions fast.

He’d been given a cursory identity from one of his father’s generals, but Taehyung enjoys spinning the story. His name is Kim Soohyung, he recites to himself every day. His father was a military man from Sakju; he trained there, before making his way to the capital to make a name for himself.

Kim Soohyung has no brothers. Kim Soohyung is a capable sparring partner, a quiet presence in the march, a middling cook. 

The road to Gangneung is long, but Taehyung enjoys every second of it.

- It was a pretty important plot point what Soohyun was searching for, but WHAT IS IT?????? I think it wasn't anything conclusive or when she encountered Gaon and Yohan she would have screamed bloody murder but she didn't. Did they pull a Kyunghee and Soohyun was handed a SD card or something? If so, could she have handed the card to someone else? Jeongho? Elijah???? My bet is on Elijah. It also looked like the person that shot her was specifically waiting for her? How would they know???? Was someone tailing her? If so, her handing the SD card to someone else would not be possible???? Idk yet, in still thinking on this one...

- I firmly believe Yohan has nothing to do with the church fire, either he's protecting someone or he also doesn't know what exactly happened and pierced things together and erroneously concluded what he thinks happened. It would make absolute 0 sense his quest for revenge if that's the case. Also, Kyunghee was his first target and we were shown that it was because of what happened to Elijah, what did the others do besides running away from the church? Possibly something worse? Was Kyunghee the first one only because it was convenient? Because of her son?

- What the fuck is up with Jeongho???? Why is this bitch so distrustful of Yohan???? He's like "old man yells at clouds" but x100 worse. He must have a serious reason for that, not one necessarily truthful, but something he firmly believes in. Is it a cover up? Did he get Soohyun killed because of that but transfers the guilt to Yohan because he genuinely believes Yohan was the one that drove him to do it? Was it him or Sungah that got Soohyun killed? Why? Because of the church fire? Why would Sungah be involved? How? The Foundation? And Jeongho? Did someone important to him died in the fire also? Or in consequence of?

Now theory time:

- If Soohyung handed something off to Elijah and she found something, could she interrupt Gaon trying to shank Yohan? Honestly, this is totally up in Gaon's alley. When he thought Yohan could do something to Soohyun he punched him, now he thinks he actually did something, of course he would up his game. I do think they will work together to unveil every last mysteries that are left, but something has to happen to prove to Gaon Yohan has nothing to do with Soohyun's death, perhaps Elijah will be involved in some way. Still thinking about this one too... Anyway, I need the subs rn!!!!

i loved the way yohan broke gaon down by challenging him.

all throughout their interactions, yohan had been on guard with gaon, because gaon was constantly questioning and challenging yohan. is this the right way to get justice? shouldn't we follow the law? do the ends truly justify the means?

but that's not all he does. not all he tries to do. gaon tries to learn what it is that is driving yohan to act corruptly. he doesn't believe in evil with no motive. he sets out to find about yohan's past and learns a lot about the pain yohan lives with. yet it's not the pain he understands (gaon has his own pain and he probably knows that no one in the world quite understands anyone else's individual pain, not really), but rather yohan's anger. because that's easier to understand: that someone can be angry because they suffered an injustice.

yohan, of course, knows about gaon's past from the start. he has gaon's file on his desk, along with the news article about his parents' deaths. the people yohan surrounds himself with, who work to tilt the scales in yohan’s favor, are people he knows are suffering from the same anger he and gaon suffer. yohan could've accepted gaon's line, "even if nobody else in the world understands, i do,” but he needed gaon’s trust and, more importantly, he needed gaon to believe in their fight.

but he decides to do what gaon has been doing. gaon, who has challenging the monster narrative yohan created around himself by asking him if he was truly a monster he wouldn't be running from his own pain, wouldn't be isolating himself, being angry with those closest to him when they've clearly done yohan no wrong. gaon, who was deconstructing the narrative yohan built up about himself. gaon, who was bringing yohan back to gaon’s level by getting him in touch with his humanity again.

yohan decides to challenge the narrative of understanding and acceptance gaon created as a shield years ago. so you say that you understand my anger? let's see if that's true. so you say that the law and the justice system's punishment for the one that hurt you and your family was fair? that it was enough for you? let's see if that's true.

so, yohan takes gaon to the prison where gaon expects to see the man who hurt his family, but where gaon finds something else entirely. the man sitting behind bars suffering for the pain he caused gaon was not the one that was meant to be there. someone had ferried him away, set him free, put someone else to suffer in that man's stead. (i wonder, if gaon had found the man sitting there, in luxury but the right man, if he would’ve gone into as much despair, if he would’ve abandoned his morals and joined yohan at all.)

the things soohyun and jungho told him about how justice works, how even if it feels unfair if they (the people, the police, the judges, the system) are impartial, if they stick to the law, if they're ethical, then it's true justice—they're gone, replaced by this consuming, burning anger that makes him wail and scream and cry. there was no justice. none.

he turns against yohan, at first, angry because he believed yohan had been the one behind it, that he was just manipulating gaon again. he turned toward soohyung, looking for comfort, for someone to validate his concerns that this was all yohan's doing, that there was something worth investigating, that it was all too perfect to be true. (it’s interesting how big of a risk yohan took here. if he had been wrong in his understanding of gaon’s anger and need for justice, gaon might have easily turned against him and become more firmly fixed in the need for a neutral and ethical legal system. if they had one, no one would’ve helped free youngchoon, after all.)

when gaon investigates and finds out the truth, however, soohyun's support, jungho's guidance turn out to not be enough. he needs more. he needs justice.

yohan took a risk and shoved gaon all the way to the edge, pushing him to the point where gaon felt he was losing his mind. that he was unraveling.

and he was. but what was unraveling inside him were the things he used to comfort himself from the pain that never really left him. and to go from this place of painful acceptance (and it had to be painful, for how can anyone content themselves when their need for justice outweighs what society and the law gives them?) to this raw state, the state he was in when he saw the man walk off the bus, the state he was in when he pulled out the knife and ran toward the man with murderous intent. and that made him realize just how hollow everything he had filled his life with was. how he needed something more. 

yohan's challenging of gaon, yohan's questioning of gaon's beliefs, caused gaon to realize that he was lying to himself about how satisfied he had been with the legal system he is a part of, and realize that he was telling the truth to yohan when he said, "the anger, i understand that. [...] even if nobody else in the world understands you, i do."

and yohan, at last, managed to get gaon to stand beside him instead of in his way. and not only did he get gaon on his side, but he got gaon to tap into an anger he had long since suppressed and who now needs his own kind of justice instead of that of the game-like system he had before.

Axions : Superbes avancées expérimentales et théoriques

L'axion, ou boson de Peccei-Quinn, est un candidat très sérieux pour être la particule de matière noire tant recherchée. De nombreuses équipes partout dans le monde travaillent à sa détection, tandis que des théoriciens creusent le modèle théorique proposé en 1977. Aujourd'hui, une équipe d'expérimentateurs coréens publie ses premiers résultats pour une plage de masse autour de 6,7 µeV en atteignant une sensibilité record, tandis que deux théoriciens américain et japonais démontrent que champ quantique associé à l'axion, en plus de la non violation de la symétrie CP dans l’interaction forte pour laquelle il avait été imaginé, peut aussi expliquer l'asymétrie matière/antimatière, en plus de la matière noire... Deux études parues dans le même numéro de Physical Review Letters.   

Soohyung Lee (Institute for Basic Science, Daejeon) et ses collègues de la collaboration CAPP (Center for Axion and Precision Physics Research) ont développé un détecteur d'axions depuis environ deux ans. Ce détecteur est ce qu'on appelle un haloscope, un système de petite dimension fondé sur l'utilisation d'un champ magnétique très puissant utilisant un refroidissement poussé et une cavité résonante micro-onde. Le principe de détection de la plupart des expériences de détection de l'axion de par le monde est presque toujours le même : il est fondé sur le fait que les axions doivent se transformer spontanément en photons lorsqu'ils passent dans un champ magnétique. 

Les photons produits par les axions ont une énergie directement liée à la masse de l'axion, dont on sait qu'elle devrait être très faible, inférieure à 1 milli-électron-volt. Pour des photons de ces énergies, on parle plutôt en fréquence de l'onde électromagnétique correspondante (rappelons que l'énergie est directement proportionnelle à la fréquence via la constante de Planck h). Des micro-eV ou des millieV correspondent au domaine des micro-ondes.

Pour faciliter la conversion d'axions en photons micro-ondes, les chercheurs coréens utilisent un énorme champ magnétique de 8 Teslas produit par un aimant supraconducteur refroidi à 50 mK grâce à un cryostat à dilution. Le signal micro-onde, très faible doit ensuite être amplifié par une cavité résonante sur laquelle la fréquence de résonance peut être ajustée. C'est en changeant lentement la fréquence de résonance de la cavité que les chercheurs peuvent balayer une plage de masse équivalente pour l'axion. Une détection avec certitude peut-être obtenue à partir de la détection d'un petit flash de 100 photons par seconde. 

Le détecteur, nommé CAPP-8TB (rapport à l'intensité du champ magnétique de 8T) a permis aux physiciens de scanner une plage comprise entre 1,6 et 1,65 GHz, ce qui correspond à une masse pour l'axion comprise entre 6,62 et 6,82 µeV. Les chercheurs n'ont évidemment pas trouvé d'axions (le titre de ce billet aurait différent, vous vous en doutez), mais ils parviennent à une telle sensibilité en seulement trois mois de run effectif qu'ils atteignent pour la première fois dans cette plage de masse la zone prédite théoriquement pour être la plus probable dans l'espace bi-dimensionnel décrivant la force du couplage axions/photons et la masse de l'axion. Autrement dit, le détecteur CAPP-8TB est suffisamment efficace pour explorer la zone théorique où devrait se cacher l'axion. Les chercheurs coréens prévoient dans un premier temps de scanner les fréquences comprises entre 1 et 10 GHz, puis ensuite entre 10 et 25 GHz, en adaptant la dimension de leur cavité résonante, qui est directement liée à la fréquence qui peut être étudiée. Ils pourraient ainsi scanner l'espace des paramètres jusqu'à une masse de 100 µeV.

La plage de masse explorée aujourd'hui par Lee et ses collaborateurs est encore très petite mais le détecteur ne fonctionne pleinement que depuis quelques mois, et d'autres expériences ont été montées pour explorer d'autres plages de fréquence (et donc de masse). Seules deux autres expériences dans le monde, toutes deux américaines, ont réussi à atteindre une sensibilité suffisante pour mordre sur la zone théorique. Parmi elles, l'expérience ADMX est certainement celle qui a pris le plus d'avance aujourd'hui pour des masses comprises entre 2 et 3 µeV. La seconde, nommée Haystac explore des masses aux alentours de 20 µeV. 

Même si la masse des axions peut sembler ridiculement faible, très inférieure à la masse des neutrinos, leur quantité serait si importante dans l'Univers qu'ils pourraient expliquer à eux seul le phénomène de matière noire qui est observé à grande échelle dans les galaxies et les amas de galaxies. Lorsque Roberto Peccei and Helen Quinn ont proposé en 1977 la symétrie qui porte désormais leur nom et que très vite Frank Wilczek et Steven Weinberg ont montré que le processus devait être associé à une nouvelle particule qui fut appelée axion, on ne parlait pas encore massivement du problème de la masse manquante des galaxies. Cette nouvelle symétrie et ce nouveau boson ont été imaginés avant tout pour résoudre le problème de la non violation de la symétrie de Charge-Parité (CP) dans les quarks (l'interaction forte qui les lie entre eux). Ce n'est que quelques années plus tard, dans les années 1980 qu'on s'est rendu compte que les axions, avec leur petite masse, pouvaient eux aussi participer à la matière noire, en plus des particules supersymétriques de type WIMP ou des neutrinos de 4ème génération.

La symétrie CP est la symétrie qui transforme les lois physiques lorsqu'on interchange les particules par leurs antiparticules (symétrie de charge C) et qu'on prend leur image inversée par un miroir (symétrie de parité P). La théorie de l'interaction nucléaire forte, la chromodynamique quantique, permet que la symétrie CP soit violée, comme ce qui est observé dans l'interaction nucléaire faible. Or une telle violation de CP n'a jamais été observée dans l'interaction forte. L'axion, et le mécanisme théorique de Peccei-Quinn, résolvent complètement ce problème qui est sans solution depuis près de 50 ans. Encore faut-il détecter le premier axion... Malheureusement, les modèles théoriques qui ont été développés suite aux travaux pionniers des physiciens italiens et américains ne prédisent pas quelle doit être la masse exacte de l'axion ni la force de son couplage avec les photons : l'une dépend de l'autre. Pour trouver l'axion, il faut donc parcourir inlassablement l'espace de ces deux paramètres.

Mais les théoriciens travaillent toujours aujourd'hui sur différents modèles dérivés du mécanisme de Peccei-Quinn.  Et par un heureux hasard, dans le même numéro de Physical Review Letters où les chercheurs de la collaboration CAPP ont publié leur beau résultat expérimental, on trouve un article théorique consacré aux axions et qui pourrait faire beaucoup parler de lui, avec un titre intriguant tenant un seul mot : "Axiogenesis"

Raymond Co (Université du Michigan) et Keisuke Harigaya (Princeton) sont deux physiciens théoriciens qui ne s'intéressaient pas particulièrement au problème fondamental de l'existence d'une asymétrie entre matière et antimatière. Ils s'intéressaient avant tout aux implications qu'aurait un champ quantique d'axion dans l'Univers primordial. Mais ce qu'ils ont découvert va bien au-delà de leurs attentes : ils montrent que le champ quantique associé à l'axion peut effectivement être à l'origine de l'asymétrie entre matière et antimatière. Co et Harigaya  voulaient savoir ce qui se passerait si le champ quantique de l'axion subissait une rotation au lieu d'une oscillation (qui avait déjà été étudiée). Une telle rotation est prédite par certains modèles théoriques de gravitation quantique. 

Les oscillations de l'intensité du champ de l'axion correspondent aux particules en tant que telles. Dans l'Univers primordial, le champ de l'axion devait avoir une énergie très importante avant de descendre dans son état de plus basse énergie. Co et Harigaya montrent qu'au lieu de descendre directement vers l'état de stabilité en "ligne directe", le champ aurait pu subir une rotation, autorisée par une brisure de la symétrie de Peccei-Quinn, et via une séquence d'interactions impliquant l'interaction nucléaire forte et l'interaction nucléaire faible. C'est cette évolution du champ de l'axion en "spirale" qui d'après leurs équations peut mener directement à une asymétrie entre la quantité de baryons et d'antibaryons (matière et antimatière).

Les deux théoriciens calculent que dans le cadre de leur modèle qu'ils nomment "axiogenèse" la vitesse de rotation du champ qui est nécessaire pour expliquer l'asymétrie matière/antimatière observée tous les jours dans l'Univers, produit naturellement une masse pour l'axion qui est largement suffisante pour expliquer toute la matière noire. Il serait même un peu trop massif dans le scénario minimal! Co and Harigaya montrent que pour que l'axion soit exactement dans les bonnes proportions pour expliquer la matière noire, des phénomènes de nouvelle physique devraient apparaître à une énergie de l'ordre de 10 TeV, donc a priori accessibles au LHC. Les théoriciens annoncent également que la masse de l'axion se trouverait plutôt au dessus de 100 µeV, mais qu'il serait facilement détectable par les expériences en cours... 

La conclusion de ce nouveau modèle théorique est que l'axion pourrait résoudre non plus seulement deux des grands mystères de la physique des particules et de l'astrophysique (la non violation de CP dans les quarks et ma matière noire), mais aussi le troisième (pourquoi n'y a-t-il pas d'antimatière) ! La nouvelle particule miracle est arrivée.
