sorry i saw ur post about fact checking youtubers and this is probably the least important part of that post but isn't the origin of smiledog like a huge mystery or something. if you know the twitter handle of the creator does that mean we know what the original unedited image was, or is that the one unknown part

its not unknown at all, the guy is Michael Lutz and he was the accepted author of smiledog until relatively recently when the kids who werent born yet when smiledog was posted started going "wait a minute...theres no PROOF" and decided en masse that the smiledog author was now a mystery again. the story is spookier if theres no author. personally i think this is stupid but the reasons why come down to "i know this guy as an internet mutual and im 90% sure he would not lie about this because he does not benefit from it at all, and also because he has been talking about it for years, way before this post on twitter, and i saw him talking about it years earlier and it didnt sound like he was lying then either"
